Great prof., kept things interesting in a class that otherwise could be boring.
doesnt follow sylabus, keeps you guessing as to wheather or not your going to pass or fail, will not work with you on extra credit. test are on material that is difficult and hasnt covered in class. difficult exams.
Hard class and he's pretty boring... his tests are so unclear and very hard.
awsome class
super sweet.
Great class!Mr. Gallimore always made class fun and included the students in very interesting dicsussions. He was always available after class to answer any questions that we had.As long as you come to class and do the readings, you'll be fine. He's a GREAT teacher. The best I've had. He's hot, too.
This was a fabulous class. He's very patient and kind and always went out of his way to make sure we all understood the material.I'm certain that the bad reviews that he's received are from morons who never came to class, didn't do the readings and never went to office hours for help.

Good class. no attendence policy. Do the small amount of reading he assigns and study the notes and it will be a simple B. Nice guy. His office time are held at Tate St Coffee
awesome possom
I guess Rick was hard... If you have some sort of mental handicap?? If you go to class, you will pass. He curves the tests most of the time, and gives opportunities for E.C. The guy is really nice and helpful. If you feel like you have the IQ of a garden tool, you may fail. Go to class!
I agree with everything said here.Galimore is a great teacher and the class was awesome.I highly recommend this class to anyone.
very friendly and helpful
So far this class has been great. Very interesting discussions. The instructor is very enthusiastic and helpful....he's pretty hot, too!!
awesome teacher!i recommend anyone who wants/needs to take a philosophy course to take one with mr.gallimore.very helpful, approachable, easy to talk to.and girls, he's a cutie!
He's really nice and approachable, really tries to get you to understand concepts. Attendence policy is loose, and he gives extra credit for attending. I came to every class but I had trouble on the tests because I don't remember details of the readings just the main concepts. He curves the grades a
HOT! ;)
I have mixed feelings about this professor. He seemed like a okay guy,but I dunno if that means hes a good teacher.I'm not gonna hate on the dude tho, even tho i failed cuz i prolly could have done more work myself.but i also won't recommend the class.take it if you like phil. and want to see a nice ass!if not then dont take it cuz u be confused
If you don't go, you won't get it. But if you do, and take good notes, you'll be fine. He's a great teacher, and if you're having problems you can meet him for coffee at Tate Street before class. Take him, he's great... And a cutie.
I'm taking this Prof. right now and it's a great class! He really seems to care about his students and their learning. So far this is a really fun class. The tests are hard, but if you go to class and office hours he'll make sure you know what is going to be on it. And he IS hot ;)

easy teacher. grades on average. great professor. easy to talk to.

very easy going and laid back about teaching which sometimes isnt always the easiest way to learn but he is young and easy to approach about things. his classes consist of putting the notes up on a screen and discussing them and he really encourages that

Super sweet guy, easy to approach with problems. Class is very laid back but the tests can be hard. I liked his teaching style but some might not. Cute to boot.
Mr. Gallimore is very approachable and is always concerned with student's well-being. The tests can be a bit hard, but as long as you come to class and do the reading you will do well. He's very articulate and enthusiastic about philosophy. He is an all-around nice guy, and cute too. He encourages and enjoys group discussions.
He acts like he doesn't know what he's talking about, but he secretly does. Class is very laid back, he encourages discussions and supports them nicely, making sure everyone gets a turn. STUDY for his tests and you'll be fine. Sometimes his desire to support all ideas can be detrimental to discussion, but it's certainly no dealbreaker.
Professor Gallimore is by far the best teacher I've had at UNCG.He's not perfect(too relaxed, not organized),but his passion for what he does is amazing. He really cares about his students and tries harder than most to make his class fun.also, ladies, he's SEXY (i'd hit it)
The more classes you go to, the cuter he gets! This class can be a little boring if you're not that interested in philosophy, but he curves the tests, and he's very sweet/easy going. Definitely recommend him.
Really nice guy and loves what he does, it just seems like a harder class than it should be. If you don't care for philosophy this class will be murder, tests are really hard, but good news is he curves and he is really accesible if you need him. Plus, he's really hot!
really good teacher. take his class
Very good teacher as far as repor with students........he really enjoys philosophy but does not really know how to bring it across to you in a way you will understand....very helpful if you need any questions answered...very hard class!
Gallimore is a great professor. I enjoyed every minute of class. I had class during his office hours and he was always willing to make time to help me out. He is patient and kind. However, this class will challenge you and the tests are not easy! I recommend making study gruops/talking to the professor/tutoring.
Very good teacher, the subject material is sometimes quite dense and difficult to understand, but he is always helpful and willing to make the effort to help you if you show that you're making an effort. Highly recommend him.
He is an extremely nice and approachable professor! Going to class is a must though, because his Blackboard notes are pretty hard to decipher (though reading the text helps a lot). His tests are pretty tricky as well, but he makes this class enjoyable.
great guy. a real knuckle-head
Go to class or you are screwed, tests you have to study for, final paper is hard. But he teaches awesome, and will always help. Show a interest in class and he will always help you. Go to tate street coffee if you need help.
Don't let his niceness and laidbackness fool you, he is very, very tough. Only those who can gulp up the philosophy and spit it back out the same way they found it will do well. That is, you must be able to clearly understand what he teaches or assigns you to read, because he excepts you to know it like the word of God.
He's a sweet guy, and tries his hardest to make it as unboring as possible, but the class sucks. I went in pretty interested in philosophy, but the class makes me hate it.
By far the best professor I have had. He is a really nice guy who will do anything he can to help you understand things. He is very easy to get along with and he will never make you feel uncomfortable about asking questions. His tests are a little tricky but if you take good notes and read the book, you'll do great. I highly recommend him!!!
The subject itself can be hard and confusing...however Rick is extremely helpful. Use his office hours/as well study group. I went to both and they helped my grade tremendously. I would probably never made an A in this class.
Interesting class.
I took Contemporary Moral Problems online as a winter course and when I had fallen behind, due to a family matter, Dr. Gallimore was willing to help me stay on track with the rest of the class. I couldn't ask for a more understanding, compassionate instructor. His method of grading is fair, and the material is rather interesting.
Philosophy was the most boring and difficult class i ever took. Hes a really good professor, but i didnt try in the begining so i was completely lost after that. Just get down the key concepts and you will do GREAT in this class because the all exams have the same questions on them. I failed all test but he passed me so he is suuuper nice.
- Every test has at least a few of the same questions so get down the big overall concepts in the beginning. - VERY understanding, completely willing to help- great guy - you need to attend class limited notes on BB and the subject matter can get pretty confusing. if you frequently attend class you will get extra point on your final grade
It's a challenging class because the material is so abstract, but Rick teaches it in the most simple way possible. Very approachable and friendly, eager to help. Definitely go to class, the material is repeated a lot and it helps, as do TARG review sessions. Definitely a tough class but it opened up a new way of thinking for me.
Good teacher, really explains the material well and makes the class fun.
Hot, smart, and really cool once you get to know him outside of class. He holds office hours at a coffee shop and will sit with you for hours at a time just talking shop, as well as just being friendly.
Very challenging class, but a very nice guy, go to the TARG study sessions and meet with him at his office at Tate Street Coffee and you will be fine.
He is helpful and he will help you when you need it. You have to read the chapters to understand when you are going over. Overall he is a great teacher but some of the questions on the tests are confusing. There is no final exam only four test and they count. Plus my class's tests were online & he curves the last test :)
I took the online class and enjoyed it. I am not a fan of online courses but this was a very good class. He responds very quickly to emails and will take as much time as you need to explain anything to you. There is a lot of reading! No extra credit and no curve. Make sure you participate in online discussions. Tests can be a little tricky.
Hard class, boring book, hard teacher.
Great professor. :)
Great teacher! Very helpful! Answered emails very promptly even late at night. Makes you work hard and learn the material but curves the grades in the end. I wish I could take more of his classes!!!
take this course in the winter. one quiz a week: 10mc straight from reading. 3 exams either word for word from past quizzes or straight from reading. that's it. no bb discussions or bs. Easy!!
Hard class. But, he really wants to see you succeed. Very helpful guy, meets at TSCH for his office hours. He is really cool to talk to and will curve grades int he end. 4 tests, all on BB, 33 questions each. Must attend lectures to understand. Take good notes, don't sit on your phone- he will notice and it will affect your grade. Great guy though
Such a nice guy! Rick was always there to help and if you cannot make it to office hours he also meets up at Tate Coffee Shop. the class material is challening but he does curve your grade and overall its not the worst. It is important to go to class everyday and listen to his lecture!
Gallimore is dull and he doesn't make the subject matter any easier to understand. Attendance is not required and you'll be really tempted to skip his classes. Worst professor in my semester at UNCG.
By far my favorite class and professor as an incoming freshman at UNCG. You learn something new and interesting eat class.
I would love to take more courses from Dr. Gallimore.
If you don't absolutely love philosophy, do not take this class. If you do love philosophy, be prepared to hate it after this class. Boring lectures, confusing notes and tests. Either spend hours a day studying or take this course with another professor.
Mr. Gallimore is very friendly, helpful, and down-to-earth. The class material was very interesting, however it may be hard to pay attention if you're not interested in the material. Sometimes there were test questions that seemed to be tricky or not worded properly, but he was very understanding and helpful when I talked to him about them.
it is discussion based and interesting some days. he says attendance is mandatory but i missed way more than he said we could and was not penalized.
Great teacher, very clear and fun to listen to in lecture. Tests are not too bad as long as you do the readings and pay attention in class.
As long as you come to class and take good notes and write down everything he says. He will even tell you, "right this down for the test"! so do!! He is very funny and truly cares about the students. You have four exams and he will help you if needed throughout the semester! He is very cool, seeing as his office hours are at a coffee place!!
If you don't LOVE Philosophy, don't take it. He stands in front of the class and lectures the entire time. He wrote his own manuscript and it is just as confusing to read as he is to understand. He is always willing to help. But if you don't know exactly what you need help on, don't ask him... try a classmate first. Expect to read a lot.
I loved this class.
This class was a lot harder than expected. It was a read the book, take a test kind of class. You take read a chapter and take a quiz, once two chapters have been quizzed, you take a test on the two. The final isn't cumulative, it's just on the last two chapters. Be sure to THOROUGHLY read the chapters and take notes, as well as the canvas stuff.
I took this class thinking I'd really enjoy it, but, like most other comments say, if you're not that into Philosophy then chances are you won't really do as well. I didn't do the readings which is probably what got me. We only had four assignments -- tests -- and were 50+/- questions true or false. Tough but good professor. He loves to help though
Professor Gallimore is wonderful as a person but I personally did not like his style of teaching. He talks for the entirety of the class without any powerpoints. I never studied and missed a few classes and still did fine on the tests. If you're interested in philosophy then you will enjoy his class but if not then it will bore you to tears.
This class was a good choice for me to satisfy my Phil/Rel/Ethical Perspectives credit. I've never interacted with Professor Gallimore before, but I know that the online course is simple. Just make sure to keep up with the due dates for the module quizzes and exams!
Worst class I've taken so far. Questions he asked on quizzes and tests focused on tiny details from the readings and adds unnecessary high amounts of stress to my life. Highly recommended taking this subject with a different professor.
You can get an A, but it will be a very unsatisfying experience. Syllabus mentions two textbooks - you never use the more expensive of the two. Graded on discussion board posts & two exams. If you bomb one exam, you're kind of screwed. Very bad at responding to emails. Very poorly worded test questions. Maybe take a different professor if possible
Dr. Gallimore's class was very insightful and easy to engage in. He has bi-weekly discussion boards with a test once a month. If you already have quite a full course load and are looking for a 3-credit class with not as much work, his class is perfect.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had, this semester is about to come to an end and we are still two months behind, graded by 4 exams, once a month, but have not started the third one with 3 weeks left in the semester. Class is super confusing in his incoherent lectures and don't even ask questions cause he will make you even more confused.
The exams are mostly specific details about cases rather than concepts, aka comprehension/memorization over application. Word-searching documents will be your best friend. Overall pretty easy.
Online class, super easy and light workload.
PHI 121 also called Contemporary Moral Problems is an easy class. The class is asynchronous (no specific due dates) as long as you complete everything by the end of the semester you should be fine. There are 8 quizzes and 4 exams all are extremely easy even if you just skim the reading. Dr. Gallimore is an amazing professor. I definitely recommend!
