i think this teacher was cool. i was the only guy in the class and he wasnt at all creepy. well sometimes.. but he was clear and made us to a lot of group work, the essay topics were of your choice. i say you pick this professor hes a fawkin cool!

Some of these people exaggerated. Hamwi was opinionated but his overall teaching skills were good and relevant. I learned the most from his class my first year. He does have some freaky lecture topics like about death, but they're realistic.

To a freshman taking his first real college english class, Hamwi might seem difficult or "weird" for discussing certain topics. Truth is that he gets you to think and critically analyze works of literature. Not an easy class, but not a difficult one either.

Lectures are a bit odd, but overall the class is easy. He does allow you to choose your essay topics from a pool of 5 of 6. High opiniated man, does seem to babble on about politics quite a lot.

You know, I failed my first paper with flying colors. But! This guy is willing to work with you and he wants you to become a better writer. I really started to enjoy his lectures, they really got me thinking.

Rick "The Perv" Hamwi is his name! This guy is very opinonated, and needs to get laid! However, the class is cool, boring assignments, but lectures are sometimes fun. I got a B in this class, and all you got to do is write what you think he wants to read.

He isn't so bad, i think he has a sense of humor sometimes.

comes off as a bit weird, and is very opinionated. however, if you need help he is always willing to help with a paper. discussions in class can be a bit boring but if you just show up and sit there, he wont really care.

Sorry to say it, but this teacher sucks. He gave us homework every class metting, who does that, we are not in high school. The class is very time consuming. You have to read the stories he tells you or else you'll be confused in class becuase his discussion are based on the readings. I would not recommend him, there are EASIER TEACHERS OUT THERE.

He's a difficult grader! I never knew what he wanted out of me in all 6 of the essays... it's kinda like a HighSchool class... HW every class meeting!

this teacher comes off as a bit weird and studders but he gets you to think about interesting subjects. If you like thinking outside the box and are ok at writing essay you should do well.

if u want an easy class, don't take his.u r to write 5 essays and a final exam essay. He grades it really hard so if u love to write essays take his. He is a bit sarcastic sometimes, funny, opinionated, and a bit conceited, but he opens up really interesting topics, which really makes u think. Though his class is hard i think its worth taking.

I am sitting in his class as i type this message! He goes off topic alot and makes random sexual comments but its hilarious!!! pretty ok class just keep up with journals and essays...and he scratches his butt like no ones watching him but everyone laughs in silence :)

Eh, he's alright. It's a boring class if you're not into the stuff, but if you're interested in the topics he addresses, all the better. Pay attention in class and attend regularly; don't save your journal entries til the last minute, and you should be alright. You should have a good background in writing essays before taking this class, though.

Very hard grader. If you go to class and listen to the things he preaches and write them down then you have something to write about in your essay because he is very opinionated. He scratches his butt a lot sorry but he thinks no one sees him but the whole class does. Journals are mandatory. He thinks its funny. Overall I guess he's okay.

He's a good professor; I learned how to write good essays in his class. He is opinionated, but if you know how to argue well then he will listen to you. Sometimes it seems like he plays favorites. He loves to talk about sex. Attendance is not really mandatory, just make sure you keep up with the journal entries. He's pretty good, altogether.

not bad but not the best. easy class. he is a little weird and talks wayyy too much. things that he can say in 2 minutes takes him 30.

Very helpful. Glad i had him for english composition my first semester here. Take him if you want to improve your writing.

um, definitely on the weird side. nevertheless, i think hes a good english teacher. he writes well which lets me respect him as a prof. im not sure too sure about this but he does seemed opinionated so either make your essays leaned towards his views or make sure your essay is well written and argued, answering all aspects of the topic at hand.

He is a very weird professor. His lectures are pretty interesting but when it comes to grading, he sets no real guidlines he jus says "He knows an A paper when he sees one" thats pretty much it. I ultimately wouldn't recommend him to anyone especially freshman. STAY AWAY :(

At first, this class was the one I dreaded the most b/c he does not clarify a single thing & I wasn't used to his teaching style. He doesn't teach and blabs about nonsense. 4 out of class essays, 1 in class for final. That is all your grade is. He's a weird guy, but I must say that my writing improved by a lot and I did learn how to write better.

At first I was pissed at my first essay grade (C+) and he wrote all over my paper but you know what, he did it for us to improve ourselves. I don't know why people rate him sooo low! I suck at writing essay but I totally improved!!! I'm sooo happy :) He's a little boring and bias but it's ok! he's still good professor :) I still got A+ ^^

At first seems like a hard not so friendly professor, however throughout the semester he eases up a bit and you see that he is actually really friendly and helpful.... Although grading is still really really strict. Halfway through the semester the class became interesting and more entertaining .... Lots of reading.

If you pay attention to what he wants you to write on your essays, you should be okay. When he says analyze, ANALYZE, ANALYZE, ANALYZE. Pretty easy: just 20 something journals you turn in at the end and 4 essays throughout, 1 essay for the final. Funny sometimes but can go on and on about some things. Try not to fall asleep.

This guy was super laid back i mean all you really have to do is acknowledge his advice and then write youre essays according to his advice. I liked his class, easy, and i learned something.

He is not a hard grader at all. I passed all essays with at least a C and allows you to revise in order to get a better grade.Offers a lot of help if you go to his office hourse and has an intresting way of thinking. Makes you see the world different. Journals are pretty easy. Overall was an easy class.

He is not bad at all. I actually enjoyed this professor. Papers were not difficult at all, the longest paper we had to write was 4 and a half pages which helped me since writing is not the easiest thing for me to do. His final was just a written in class essay and was not hard at all. I enjoyed this professor!

He was a good teacher,if you actually listen to him and if your open minded then you will learn a lot. He is a good guy.

Easy grader and lets you redo essays. Go in during his office hours and he will help you out with your essay if you have any trouble. Class isn't bad at all.
