i took his class a few years ago, moved on, but back then all i did were the quizes and the 2 er 3 big exams, i didnt turn in a sigle HW (which were graded) and i ended up getting a mid-C with almost no effort. Just take the exam and then listen to him lecture (and "news of the weird")

its not a fun subject. he is a great teacher. i did homework the day it was due in library before class. quizzes were open book. i just studied for the tests and got a B in the class. had i tried harder, i could have had an A. he is pretty funny and smart. i recommend taking this class with him only if u need the class for a specific degree, etc.

Great Professor, although he's difficult for some- I ace most of his quizzes and exams- and I'm no genuis (he is though- no really!!!) He's also organized and very fair. Online class is a breeze if you do the work you're required to do and turn it in on time, he does not accept late work or excuses. Very entertaining, I can't get enough of him!

so for all the psych majors out there that are going to need to take this class as a requirement...you need to take it with Howe cause HE'S THE MAN! and a funny one at that. Mr. Howe is a great techer. He is very helpful and makes class fun and interesting. It is not an easy class, but as long as you do the work and study you can do well. I took his human sexuality class online. BORING! you read the whole book and take 5 test throughout the semester at COC. one disscussion board and one quiz a week. the 5 test are work MOST of your grade. you must read the book over $100 !! chapters are pretty long. don't slack on the reading. just stay on top of everything and you'll do fine.

Howe isn't an outstanding professor or anything, but he's an effective teacher. Psych 135 is a really simple class, if you don't get it then he'll explain it to you as many times and in as many ways as it takes, and then you're golden.

I've had Howe a couple times. He knows his material well, and is passionate to educate. He's funny, however, you have to sit towards the front or you won't hear his jokes or know whats going on. Physiology is an extremely hard class, but Prof Howe makes it a little easier to grasp. He has really corny jokes, but he's one of the coolest teachers to have. He grades kind of tough, but you'll definitely learn a lot! I've taken him for 2 classes now & he's amazing.

Mr. Howe is an excellent professor! His exams are difficult, but if you study in depth the odds will be in your favor. He has about 12 quizzes which you should study for and most times he's nice enough to make them take-home. Make sure to do ALL assignments, extra credit, and go to EVERY class meeting: it really helps your grade.

Very good professor! One, he is HILARIOUS. I recommend you study for the tests, even though some are common sense. He is super tall. Very understandable and is very outgoing. Prof. Howe is hilarious. I enjoyed attending class and felt bad when it was cancelled. He kept the class interesting and showed a lot of relevant videos to keep you enticed. Took this class online and short term of Fall 2015. If you are committed you'll do great in this class. If your not don't take his class. Take on in person. I got a B and it was a month class. Felt proud of myself. A lots of work too by the way.

Great online summer class, but definitely be prepared to read at least 150-200 pages per week/4 chapters per week. For every chapter, there's 1 quiz that you can take twice, so there's really no excuse to not get 100% each time. The tests are proctored by Protocio and are straightforward. Fill out the study guides and do the work and you'll be fine

Professor Howe, sense of humor is so sarcastic but he is very hilarious. I took a 8 week class (short term) I'm not going to lie, but it was a bit hard although if you can maintain the stress and finish everything that is due that week you'll will definitely pass his class.

I took this online over winter and as long as you study effectively you will be fine. He gives lots of videos, online lectures, and resources to learn. Most online course profs don't seem to have a personality but he shows his humor in his posts and is easy to reach. Not a crazy amount of work but make sure you can deal with proctorio!

Took as 5 week, 3-4 chapters weekly and weekly unit discussion, occasional assignments(not pages long),quizzes (not proctored or timed) for every chapter but 2 lowest scores dropped at end. Weekly exams after first week that are proctored (using proctorio). If you get your work done, should be fine. He's not a harsh grader & gives videos/lecture.

Howe was a pretty cool Prof. Took him in the summer so the workload was a bit. There are exams for every chapter (open book, open notes, and no time limit). He also drops the 2 lowest quizzes at the end. The exams are a bit hard but not too bad. They're remotely proctored though. Quick to respond to messages. Does live lectures and records them.

Took this as an online, short term 5-week class and 4 proctored exams. For me, this was a hard class and I spent about 30 hours a week reading and taking notes. The teacher is great, offers extra credit, and posts videos and lectures to clarify concepts in the book. This takes a lot of time for an A grade since tons of material is covered.

Professor Howe is a very humorous man that likes to make his lectures fun. He does grade attendance so it is in your best interest to not skip a lot! His class is based through canvas and online homework. In terms of exams, they were all very approachable just makes sure you know the material and you will pass. Pretty solid professor!

I took this class (online) during Spring & it was the easiest class ever. If you get all your discussions/quizzes done on time you will be fine (easy grader). For tests (4 in total), you NEED TO READ THE TEXTBOOK (very easy to follow), TAKE NOTES, & STUDY. If you put the time/effort tests are easy. (Some test questions come from the quizzes)

He's a good professor- he's funny and tries to make lectures fun. There's typically weekly quizzes which were super easy (16), few homework assignments, and 4 tests. Watch out- the tests are long and really hard, no one this semester got an A in my class on a test, so you really gotta study hard. With enough studying you can get an A in the class!

His online class was equivalent to like 2 sets of assignments per week totaling about 5 hours per week. Its a good amount of homework but just set time apart specifically for it or spread it apart throughout the week and you will be good. Worked super well around my schedule. Hes also very nice!

Prof Howe is truly a very understanding Professor. When you need help on anything in class he makes sure that you both work together to understand. Tries to make lectures interesting and interacts with students well even if it's through zoom! Would definitely take his class again!

Rick is a great person that makes class fun. I struggled with studying for this class because a lot of the quiz and test questions are in the book and by the time the quiz is due you do not have enough time to finish the chapter. Going to class was a little pointless unless you need to ask further questions but the book is what to focus on.

I loved this class, although all the class was online and I did have an 8 am zoom, I found this class to be my favorite this semester. Posts all his work and give you a week to do, pretty clear abt the guidelines and makes this class just great 10/10

Honestly a truly great professor. Very kind and great lectures with awesome videos. Not too many assignments, if you're looking for a course that is not difficult and looking to get credits for this one with THIS professor is for you. I did the online course with zoom meetings Tuesdays and Thursdays. Great professor.

TAKE HIM! Very educated on the subject he teaches, his lectures are informational. He's funny and jokes around with students, and answers any questions that come up. Quizzes and assignments are fair and not hard. If you're taking his online course you will get an occasional Cat Cam. His kitties pop up on his camera often, they're super cute!

Free online textbook. Super easy. You ultimately choose how much you want to learn in this class. You could easily get by without reading the textbook completely, but can also learn a lot through reading and participating. Open note/book tests and quizzes. Could get weekly work done in less than 2 hours tops. Zoom with Howe was entertaining.

I would definitely take this guy because for this specific class he didn't end up using honorlock he just said he changed his mind so that was nice. Other than that it's an easy but informative class. You do have to read like around 2 chapters per week but you have an entire week and they are not difficult at all. I had just gotten a job when I started his class, so I was falling really behind. He was kind and would check in with me often and give me advice on how to catch back up to my peers. He's a friendly and positive-vibe teacher, one of my all-time favourites so far! Loves cats and dad jokes! Study and communicate and do your homework on time!

Great Professor. He has a calm demeanor and is easy going. Took his hybrid online course. I enjoyed his class. I recommend him 10/10.

Took his fully online 16 week course and it was a great experience. Each week had a set amount of work with what needed to be completed. His exams were a bit unpredictable as he announced it on a Monday and due Wednesday.
