Did anyone have him yet?
where are the ratings at?
This is his first semester teaching
Kepple is a very nice teacher. However his class has a lot of homework which you need to turn it in every class period. this sucks sometime because you have to read at least 30 pages a day. His quiz is not bad as long as you read his power point, but it is pop quizzes though.
Homeworks need to turn in ahead of lecture but it helps to keep pace when the exams come. Slides are really helpful for pop quizes and you got some buffer on homeworks and quizes if you miss them. Be on time, do the homework and you will be fine in the exams. Do the work and it will pay off.
Kepple is awesome!! Even though theres HW (all 140 classes have HW) Kepple actually explains how to do everything. He cares alot about his students and even drops A LOT of the HW assignments and quizzes. Its a fun class and that you will actually get something out of.
Probably one of the best professors i've had so far (4 years). He makes tons of notes/powerpoints available online, and is willing to answer all student concerns and questions. Lots of homework and quizzes, but they're easy if you do the reading. Good teacher, organized, and likes what he does.
awesome teacher. really clear teacher good personallity. great notes/powerpoints. quizzes and hw's that are not too hard but def. help you on the test. only if every SJSU professor was this helpful and clear
his quizzes are off the ppt. slides and exams are curved...a lot of homework but it helps your grade if you do them...drops the lowest 6 HW and 3 quizzes
This teacher is a very nice guy. He goes a little fast sometimes but is open to suggestion. Sometimes the class goes by pretty slow because he talks a bunch. The class is overall interesting, he is a good teacher, fair grader, challenging test giver.
Guy is very stingy on points. Earn as many as you can! i got a 79.89 and he still gave me a C+. he wont budge on points. Makes certain people feel stupid for not understanding. i suggest taking someone else. very condescending. there are better prof out there, look harder. lots of upset students in his class!
Lost of quizzes (unannounced) but he goes over the questions if you ask him to right before the quiz. Go to class, do the homework, and read (skim) the book to do well.
He is a good teacher, kind of boring though. Assigns a lot of homework but it really helps your grade if you do it and gives you a few freebies along the way. Exams are curved, which helps a lot. Study your notes and you will do fine.
Very good prof. Dont need the book. Just read the ppt. slides for the test and u will do fine. One group project that is not to bad. He curves the midterms and the final
Good overview of materials with .ppt. Goes over mat'l fast, lots of stuff to learn. Tough group project, but team loved working together. Curved exams. Believed students were his "customer" and asked (a lot) for feedback.
Professor Kepple is awsome! He really cares about his students and make international business fun. I highly recommend him.
his class is boring. Project/career paper are somewhat hard but make sure you do the work/research, he knows if you're guessing/faking it. Midterms are easy just study the vocabs/summary in the book. Finals are kinda easy - first half is all midterms combine (questions are exactly the same), second half the last/new section.
He is one fast talker. He goes through slides like there is no tomorrow. No worries though, everything is straight from the book. I used to sit in class and read the book while he was talking. 3 midterms, 1 group project, 3 cases, and a final. He curves his tests. Drops lowest grade case. I ended up with an A but read the entire book (650 pgs.)!
I took him my freshman year for Intro to Business and he was pretty awesome. His grading was a little bit tough, but overall I loved his class. He gives you two midterms and a final. Book is very crucial! Basically the entire lectures were based on powerpoint so you should print them out for class notes. Goes very fast!
Mr. Kepple is a great bus 10 teacher! take him if you need a bus 10 class. You have to buy the book and the lectures are on his powerpoint, so print it out if want. 3 exams all multiple choice and one final 100 multiple choice questions.
awesome professor. Take him and u wont regret it. beleive me. You will learn alot which will help you later
Great professor! All test material is straight off the PowerPoints and readings. Lectures are organized and straight forward. You must read the textbook to do well. One group project- a 40-50 page paper- choose your group members wisely! Overall, I highly recommend him.
I love Mr. Kepple, I wish I could take another class with him. he really cares about his student he calls us " his customers". at the beginning of the semester you might not like him, but after a while you get used to him and you will realize that he really cares about his students. His test are hard but he carves the grads a lot, so that really he
if you love hockey and the SHARKS you MUST take him :)!
His class is really organized. There's a LOT of homework but the textbook and workbook walks you through it step-by-step. There's 2 midtems and 1 final. I tried really hard to get an A but ended up with 89.64%! The midterms are pretty hard but the final isn't too bad. Just do all your hw and case studies and you should pass!
He really cares about his students and extremely passionate about teaching. I personally did not like his teaching style. I found it hard to follow along with the slides. He grades the homework which is hard but it also requires you to read the text. Tests were very hard but keep in mind he curves! Oh ya and big sharks fan!
3 cases studies, he drops one. 3 tests and 1 comprehensive final that has questions from previous tests. 40-60 page paper about a country. Researching for the country and writing the paper is tough, he grades in detail. Class was okay except for the paper.
He tells you exactly what's on the midterms, and it's all on the slides. There are 3 case studies and he drops the lowest one. The country report is the hardest project so choose your teammates wisely, and make sure you start early! The final is 100 ?'s MC roughly half on new materials and half cumulative. Just study what he tells you.
who ever said bus 140 was easy is a joke! l... He is a great prof. in 187, but his math teaching in 140 are a bit more complex and everything is a "figure it out with a tutor, technical support, or classmate". He does try his best to help, but ask around and you'll find that its the only 140 class that demands the most out of you. No tutors hve exp
He is a great person and a great teacher. His class is a lot of work, but everything is out of the book. HE LOVES THE SHARKS, and bring energy to an early morning class. BEST TEACHER ON CAMPUS.
Amazing professor. Gives fair amount of work. 3 case studies, he drops the lowest score, 3 test 50 q's or so VERY SIMPLE EXAMS!! he is not out to trick you, study the slides and you'r good! low book use; only for the case studies. HUGE group project, pick group wisely and you'll be fine. He expects a lot out of the project!
One of the hardest professors. 2 midterms, both of which were extremely difficult. Final was relatively easier. Grades hard on the homework yet doesn't teach the material or how to go it in class, just goes over powerpoints. None of the tutors have had him before and are clueless and useless. He has prior experience in this field so expects a lot.
He is definitely tough!! If you like a challenge and want to learn about Operations Management, take him. Homework assignments every week, 5 cases and 2 midterms. Cases are relatively easy but Midterms are difficult. He is willing to help though, and he has lots of experience in his field. Huge sharks fan.
Pros:This is a fairly strenuous class with 4 exams, 3 cases, 1 group project, and no extra credit. I was happy to get a B+. The class was also very interesting and I learned a lot from it. Last, choose your group project teammates wisely because it will be 25% of your overall grade. Cons: His personality tends to have a sharp edge at times.
Lot's of homwork. He told us 15 hw/5 cases/3 exams and a final. Tough but fair grading, so far. Read book and ppt's ahead of class to get most out of his very-fast talking lectures. I like his "customer" focus. Very helpful when you ask a question.
TONS of hw and reading in order to understand the hw. He warns you that his class will be hard but doesn't warn you that he will be blazing through PPs with LOTS of information. He docks off points for little things but he shouldn't expect us to have perfect papers when he doesn't even go over them in class. Nice guy, teaching style needs work.
Kepple has a cool personality and a lot of experience in Business. He warns you on the first day that the class will be hard (He isn't joking). The class was hard, but it felt like the material was rushed. Midterms were curved. Only take this class if you are prepared for long studying hours and have lots of time to do research.
The Exams were easy, huge curves. Homework was ok, as long as you do it with someone else. There were also 5 case studies. Overall, the class was lot of work. I'm not sure how Operational Management will help ME out in the real world, that's something im still wondering about, until then this class shall be considered useless. GOOD PROFESSOR!!
Great guy, awesome teacher, but as he will say on the first day, will be the hardest class you take in college. 3 midterms, and a final, 15 homework's and 5 cases. A ton of work, but the midterms have curves but it still a difficult class.
he is a great teacher and loves what he does. very helpful and encourages questions. there is a large amount of work 15 hw assignments, 5 cases, and 3 tests. The hw answers can be checked in the BSAC and that helps get the best grades. tests are curved but final has most of the questions from the previous tests on it.
Says it will be hard on first day but it is bearable! The curve makes up for any test trouble and the very first homework and case are much harder than the rest. I think Kepple tries to filter out the students who don't want to be there. He is a great teacher, my favorite at SJSU so far!
Very knowledgeable, experienced, nice and funny guy. He is serious on educating his students and gives concrete examples for everything. Its not tough if you go to class, listen and do the homework. Very happy with this teacher, I would take him again and I am hoping I can.
Best teacher i have had so far!loves the sharks! not sure of my grade but honestly don't care, i learned from my mistakes and i understood my stuff! :o
Nice guy but that's the only good thing about him. 15 hw's, 5 cases, 3 midterms, and 1 comprehensive final. Does not teach, does not go over hw's & cases, deduct's unreasonable points off hw's and cases. Can be a good teacher, he just needs to change his method.......of not teaching. ^_^
nice guy, very knowledgeable. 3 cases, 3 midterms, 1 comprehensive final which consists of 20 chapters. choose your group wisely, because your group mates will grade u at the end of the project. overall, touch class. dont take the class unless you have good memory, otherwise the 20 chapters final will kill you.
Nice Guy. Always ready to help. Fair grader. Exams based on text and lecture. 3 Midterms and 1 Final. HW and case studies help to raise the grade up.
My intended major was Business, and since I was a Freshman, they recommended me to take this class, and because of this class, I hated it so much that I'm changing my intended major.Class was extremely tedious work material wise. I wouldn't recommend this class...
DO NOT TAKE HIM. this class is suppose to be an easy class for anyone to boost their GPA. Its one of the few classes you need for your business degree. However this guy takes this class way to seriously.Really hard grader. Hard exams.HW almost twice a week.
Professor Kepple was very generous; he curved all the midterms and the final. Lots of homework to do. Overall, I liked his class.
HORRIBLE TEACHER: unclear, vague. rambles. my impression of him is a business man that wants money, made job easier for himself by putting lectures online and just rambling during classtime. wow easy $. BUSINESS PLAN extremely vague, questions are so unclear, hard to get the right answer. he makes me so angry.
Very nice and helpful guy. His lectures and homework is all online. Question on the homework quizzes and vague. Make sure you pick a good group for your business plan. Overall Kepple is a good teacher.
SO, he's really enthusiastic about being a businessman, but sucks at being a teacher. He's a really hard/random grader... he can knock you off for little stuff. Exams are average, just review the summaries in the book and the online quizzes. If you don't try i'll bet you'll get a C or higher. No need to be in class often.
Kepple uses a "hybrid" class system. 1 chapter per class and an online quiz before class time. Read the chapter and you're fine. Decent grader and exams are based on the book. Great help when you need help on business project.
If you're a business major and you want to really learn about operation management, take him!! Allie/chili ;)) He makes you buy the 10 edition book, it's cheaper!
What can I say ... As I read before if you really want to learn take him. Also he curves, he explains everything well, nothing on the test is a big surprise!! ;) chili girl
He will never answer your question, also rude at times.
Great professor. Knows his topic. Passionate and enthusiastic. He'll help you if you're not clear on anything and he's really understanding. Although he says get the txtbk. you don't need as long as you go over his slides and videos. Totally and completely worth spending money on him. I had a lot of fun with him!
He is very passionate about the subject, and wants to give his students his knowledge. Will answer any question you have as long as you ask. There is a big group project that can be hard depending on your group. Online quiz's twice a week. Boring lectures, but a good teacher. What you get out of the class is what you put in.
He's easy to talk to, but can give you vague/ sarcastic answers that make you feel dumb. During the big group project we were often very confused because there were things on there that we hadn't even learned yet at the same time expected to know. For the planning the future paper SHOW IT TO UR ADVISOR. U get knocked off points if u don't.
Don't take this class. It isn't required and he isn't a good teacher. He does not lecture at all, so it is all self learning. You take a total of 21 quizzes, twice a week on your own time. They seem easy but they have long questions with a 10 min. time limit. Also, group project is practically upper division work. Trust me don't take the class.
There are a lot of point opportunities so failing a test is not end of the world. His tests are hard but he curves. He always referred the material to his own experience. Lectures are not boring because he always adds some humors in.
The class was big (taught in Tower Hall), so obviously he could only provide limited feedback on our work. But, when my group for the business project visited him during office hours, he spent an hour going over what we already knew and wouldnt listen to our questions. When one of us tried to talk, he shushed us. Unclear with his expectations.
Most assignments are online based, so you don't need to attend class unless it's for the midterms, Business project, term paper, and final exam. Has good intentions for what he does, but super broad and unclear on standards (especially during the Business project). Very generous with curving grades. Expect the end of the semester to be very busy.
A few major term papers to write here and there, but they were not too difficult. You have 21 online quizzes to complete in a time limit (10 minutes, I think), but only the top 20 count. The Business Project was way too stressful. Midterms and final exam were a bit complex, but the curve helped to lessen the fact that you failed it.
No point in going to class unless you want to hear his irrelevant stories. Asking questions wasn't helpful because he would just steer the conversation towards himself or hockey. Group project ended up being more complicated than it should because he wouldnt answer questions. He's a good guy but I wouldn't want to take his course again.
too much quizes
Dont teach anything!
Class is composed of 15 homework assignments, 3 cases, 3 mc midterms, 1 cumulative mc final. Attending class is helpful as not all the material from each chapter is on the test. Homework and cases will help you understand the material for the tests, and boost your mark. No extra credit, so all hw and cases are crucial.
He is a great professor. He added humor to his lectures and help was available whenever needed. Yes, it is a bit of work but he does curve.
OMG best professor ever so funny and really helpful. Long group project but he helps out if you have any questions. Class is really big so get their early so you get a good seat. No surprises on the exams.
Cool and funny man. Keeps a class of more than 100+ students engaged. Do the homework and study the cases they prep you well for the midterms and final. Would take the man again.
This proffessor is too difficult and he doesn't offer many ways to improve your grade. DON"T TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I'm gonna end up failing this class.
I took him freshman year for a lower division business class. He inspired me so much that I ended up taking him again. He values students' opinions. Not a lot of homework (just do your work and stop complaining! You're in college!) I am not a morning person but still manage to go to his morning class. Pros: He curves Very responsive Funny
I took him two years ago for 187 and he is one of my favorite professors at SJSU. He gives you real world examples and really makes everything clear. Now that I'm about to take my last semester and I get to take him for 140, I had to rate him. Take him if you want to learn and you won't regret it. I'm looking forward to 140, simply because of him.
Professer Kepple's lectures were often boring and I found it hard to focus in class. Assignments are well structured and not to heavy of a workload. There are also four tests and studying all the material is imperative but luckily he curves! Not a bad professor but not the best either. He is a nice guy and he cares about his students.
Took him like 2 years ago. He was aight, easy for 4.0ers.
This professor is not helpful in helping students pass the class. He is very sarcastic and expect a lot of online quizzes. His tests consists of 4-5 chapters per exam. If you are not doing well from the beginning of the semester you are probably not going to pass. His class works on a point system, This class does not count for a GE but a unit.
I think he decided to make it comprehensive after the course evaluation so no would be able to show how frustrated they are.
Tests are hard. Made the final exam COMPREHENSIVE LAST MINUTE. Is not considerate and helpful towards students.
Made the final exam comprehensive after course evaluations. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! HE'S TERRIBLE! WORST TEACHER AT SJSU!!!!!
made the final exam comprehensive at the very last minute. Very inconsiderate, not helpful at all and his lectures are boring af. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
Knowledgeable in the subject and the class was fairly easy but his teaching techniques were often frustrating. Long boring lectures, somewhat confusing project directions and overall not super helpful when you ask him questions. Also last minute he changed our final to comprehensive which wasn't very considerate...
Horrible teacher, Reads off slideshows that can be found online. Changes the final to a comprehensive one the week before finals, after classes has ended. I would never take him again.
If this class isn't required for your GE course, Do Not Take It! There are a lot of things to cover in this class. The lectures are really long and exhausting. There is always a quiz after the lecture. Sometimes, we had to take the quiz on that chapter even though he couldn't finish the lecture on that chapter.
There are only 2 assignments for the class, and he never explained about the assignments in details until we turned in the assignments. He is also very tough grader on the assignments. If you mess up with the assignments, they will pull your grade down.
All 15 homework assignments and 3 video cases need to be turned in before class starts. Does not take late work. 3 MC Midterms, 1 cumulative MC final. Attending class is helpful cause some material on the tests is given from lectures. He will usually go off topic about Sharks and may even assign an "extra field assignment" to go to a Sharks game.
You need the textbook in order to survive the class. He wants participation and will demand the participation. He doesn't believe in study guides.
RK is actually a GOOD prof! HIGHLY recommend him for 160, he puts TONS of energy into his lectures. It doesn't feel like class sometimes but more of peer mentoring/life lessons. no presentations! This class definitely isn't hard to pass IF you go to each class and STUDY for every exam. Bad reviews obviously slackers. Thank you RK keep it up
Upbeat guy, but tells too many stories during lecture. Doesn't use class time well so when class ends he speeds through the last 10-15 slides telling us "Look at this. Read this too" No study guides, lecture doesn't help with hw. Google is your bff. Not sure what he wanted us to get out of cramming 20 chapters for our final at 60 slides a chapter
I wouldn't recommend to take this professor with you really want to learn. He didn't explain things well and just go through the PowerPoint. The assignments consisted of math problems, which he didn't really explain how to do it. Good luck to those who want to take him!
4 exams, 2 papers, 20 quizzes for this class. He doesn't assign participation points but takes attendance occasionally. He goes over lectures in class and makes them accessible online, but you better read the textbook and not rely too much on lectures because his tests come from textbook more than from what he teaches in class.
His lectures are confused because the way he teaches is old-school.
Professor Kepple is a great choice if you really want to learn. You will have to be ready to do more work for this class than most of your others combined. He is very nice and understanding to students. No extra credit. ALOT OF HOMEWORK . 3 midterms, 2 case studies and long final
A humorous professor who genuinely cares about students. His lectures are entertaining and he plays music before class starts to help relax everyone. There's only a few assignments; all are straightforward. Tests are easy if you read the book (which is relatively light in material). Don't miss an assignment and you're set.
Take this course and you will be setting yourself up for failure. Exams are extremely difficult and there are no study guides. He only curbs the exam if everyone fails, and believe me, no has higher than a B in this class when I took it
A lot of easy homework. Not so easy exams. 2 group projects (he seemed to be really passionate about this). Plays music at the beginning of class, lectures are pretty engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed the material that he taught.
For a Management Class, you could not ask for a better class. Lectures were based on general concepts, with additional experience stories from the professor. You have a clear syllabus to follow with weekly self-quizzes, two group projects, and four tests (of which you are delighted with a generous curve). A lasting effect with some key takeaways.
