A very good professor but very mental. He has this insane voice that pierces into you and his face has funny expressions. Mostly very funny to watch. you will laugh and learn.

I could actually spend all day listening to him speak. It is hilarious! He has his funny pictched voice at the end of his sentenses. I recommend him to anyone. He also teaches a 2000level course in Memory.

Very good professor, probably the most effective in first year psych, renee and burt are awesome as well but rick takes it for clarity. Loves to help students and isn't a comic but ppl laugh at his voice, (it's high sometimes) Burt is the funny one btw

If you can get past the voice, he's a great guy... not too boring, it's just kind of annoying when he gives you slides for one half of the class and then a straight lecture for the second half... and he likes to single people out in class...

The 3rd member of the the psyc 1000 tag team. His voice takes a little getting used to and the way he looks dead when he says "all da time". All in all a good prof. Notes are easy to follow. If you don't do well don't blame him.

The best of the three profs, but I wouldn't take things he says at face value very often. Outside of the notes, he seems to try to use his psychological knowledge on the students (either for their own good or for his own). e.g. he bluffed a thousand people into bringing id's to the exam.

"Punch it up der Fred!" He was an awsome teacher. Made it fun to learn just through his lectures. I learned the most from him than I did from the other two earlier in the term. If you can get him for a teacher, then jump on the opportunity, you will not regret it.

i think he was the cutest man alive. hes so friendly and happy and the class goes by so fast when he teaches. he passes out hand-outs so you can follow along and he appears to be the only one that wouldnt bite your head off for asking a question. its too bad he didnt teach the whole course himself

Dr. Maddigan is simply AMAZING! I've never met someone with such contagious happiness and genuine love of a subject. The most cheerful and knowledgable prof I've come across so far.

He's the BEST! It seems like he really loves his job and cares about the students in his class. He is unbelievably happy ALL the time and makes psyc class fun to be in! 'For sure!' Ha, Dr. Maddigan is the best. I was a little worried at first about the setup, but I'm glad I stuck with it. He's better than some profs I have teaching me in an actual classroom! His notes are slightly sparse but if you read the book and pay attention you'll do fine. His cheerful nature is infectious! I always leave class smiling.

Great Prof. I had heard that the large-screen setup would be more difficult, but it actually made things easier, Maddigan made everything much more interesting. He made jokes while going through the material. Notes were a bit vague, so you had to keep reading the book to get them, but he knew what he was talking about and explained things well.

He's more entertaining than Carolyn Walsh, but his notes are shoddy like nobody's business. If you only copy what's on the slideshow you're wasting your time. Maddigan is a good prof though, and doesn't baby his students. He's straight about what's on the exams so there are no surprises. Good prof!

For sure. Rick is one of the best profs I've had. he made the class fly by. His notes are a little weak but if you got a laptop BRING IT you can get most of the notes and even some of the things that he talks about. He treats the students like adults and he doesn't hold our hands if we want something we got to go get it. overall great prof

Great prof for sure! He explains stuff well and lets you know everything that is "critically important" for all of your exams,he keeps thing interesting which can be hard to do for an hour and 15 minute class in the super warm Sci Building.

Rick is a awesome prof. We actually had him live when he taught us. He would relay what we were talking about to his own life, which made the topics easier to understand. Way more interesting than 1000 and I would reccommend it to anyone that has already done 1000!

Being that intro psych is very book based, I attended class only once and maintained an A+ in the course (going into finals now). However, the class I went to he was mildly entertaining.

LOVED HIM LOVED HIM LOVED HIM! I would recommend him to anyone. He keeps you very interested and is very entertaining. Altho some of this repetitive comments can get annoying, he is a great prof and the tests are very fair.

AMAZING PROF! Definitely my favorite person I have encountered at MUN thus far. He is very entertaining and keeps you interested in the lecture by using real life examples and relating to things that have happened in his own life. I found him very easy to understand, however I can see how a non-newfoundlander may have some trouble understanding.

He is very entertaining and I enjoyed attending his classes. If possible, try to get in the class he is actually present in (not on a screen) because it is much better. Tests were a bit unpredictable but if you study the notes/book, you can do quite well in the course.

Definitely my first choice for a psych prof! The only criticism I can give is he sometimes spends too much class time trying to get students to guess the correct answer. Very entertaining though, and informative. It's like a lecture and a comedy show!

By far my most favourite professor this semester. He knows what he's talking about, he's very interactive with the students, and he knows how to make you laugh. because of this guy, i'm planning on doing a major in Psychology :)

he's absolutely hilarious. he will keep you in tune, but his notes are just an outline with what you have to study. basically, you need to know all twenty eight modules. i would recommend him, but be prepared for a rushy examination.

Maddigan is an excellent, helpful prof who really knows his stuff! His lectures were certainly interesting and I also enjoyed the online assignments, as I could use my textbook to complete them. With this hybrid course he even put the lectures online. I would definitely recommend him!

If he wants us to watch digitized lectures why do we have to watch lectures form 2 years ago?

Rick is very dramatic in class and keeps everyone interested. He also posts his lectures online which is conveniant. And just a little heads up for this course STUDY THE TEXTBOOK not just the notes!

Class is good to just listen, his notes are good but he goes quick and for his timed assignments, you really have to study straight from the textbook, because they are REALLY tricky sometimes. He's a funny guy and makes it pretty interesting.

this prof is very funny and knows his stuff. his lectures are recorded and all online which is good if you miss class. hes great! BUT if you want about 20% of your grade based on internet connection and computer reliability do NOT get this prof, all of your tests/assignments will be through an online program that SUCKS, is pricey and not worth it.

Great prof! All of his lectures are recorded which is great if you miss a class or want to rewatch them. My only problem is that his quizzes and exams are very tricky. Study hard and make sure to attend class/watch the lectures because the notes online are very bare so you have to write down a lot of what he says.

Rick Maddigan is the best! Had him for 1000 and 1001. Sooo funny and very approachable. Actually makes going to class a laugh! His notes aren't the greatest, but if you read the text a bit you should do good!

Also 1001. Awesome prof, engaging lectures and knows how to make you understand! Portal quizzes made you keep up with your studies though difficult. I preferred the actual class in 1000 to the online of 1001 but both were awesome! Fairly difficult exams/midterms but the material is so interesting that it's kind of fun to relearn. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

All online lectures, they are interesting and slides are great. Tests are long multiple choice with a lot of possible answers and can be confusing, but great prof.

Great prof! You don't actually have to attend class because he tapes all his lectures and posts them online. He's good for explaining and giving examples. He's a pretty funny guy. His tests are not hard, as long as you study. You have to do timed assignments which are great for making sure you know the material before exams. Recommend him for sure!
