I took him for Statistics, which was a class I was dreading. However, he made everything very clear and surprisingly easy to understand. He goes slow to make sure that everyone understands the material. And, if you pay attention and take good notes, his exams are really not that difficult.

Sexy and funny....when i made the comment about not all placebos work and my reasoning was birth control can't be placeboed he laughed really really hard. Fun and easy tests.

I was dreading this class because I read bad reviews about him, but it turns out he is NOT at all bad. He is a great teacher and he has a weird sense of humor that I enjoyed. His tests were really tricky though!! I took it in the summer so the material was crammed, and even then I really enjoyed this class. He also always had time to help!

stuetzle is kinda weird. He teaches you well but his grading is tough. Make sure your grammar, spelling, etc is top notch or he'll dock you points for it. He is very meticulous in his grading so make sure u follow the guidelines exactly.

he has the fame of being difficult, but truth is he is not that difficult, he is a very good teacher, you will learn a lot with him, and will definetly feel more comfortable with your writings after having him as a teacher, he is funny and his comment will really help you, just follow his directions and meet with him often, and u'll do good.

His tests are not easy by any means, but he is a great teacher and very helful. One of my favorites thus far. Just watch to wording on the tests and you'll be fine.

i really liked him. i heard he was a very stubborn, tricky teacher. but he ended up being very nice. he was very tough on tests tho. i would not recommend this class if ur trying to get an easy A. i rele enjoyed having him as a teacher. he was extremly good at explaining difficult concepts and he always was nice i would definatly not skip this clas

I was nervous to take this class because I heard he was hard, but he is a good teacher and you'll learn a lot from him. He's not as hard as everyone makes him out to be. It's definitely possible to get an A, just make sure you go to class or you might get behind. His tests are hard but he gives some extra credit opportunities.

You have to go to class and pay attention. He is hard, but not impossible. Even though it may be difficult he is a really good teacher, you just have to make an effort and approach him the right way (not 10 min. before the test). Do the homework and pay attention in class and you'll do fine. Also, it isn;t as much math as people think.

One of the best professors I've had at UM so far. He may not be the easiest of the stats teachers but you'll definitely learn the most. Do all of the homework and read the chapters to study. Also, go to his office hours; he's more than willing to help. An A is absolutely possible.

His tests are ridiculously hard! He loves trick answers and making it as difficult as possible for you to succeed. However, he does a great job teaching the information and isn't mean...until test day!

He's a very good teacher. He's very nice and very understanding and offers extra credit. Tests are difficult, just make sure you practice all problem types and you'll do well. If you don't understand something on the test he gives you hints. I recommend.

I loved this guy! He's a bit cynical and kind of falls through sometimes on jokes, but he genuinely wants you to learn. His tests are difficult because he is a bit smug about tricking you, but he doesn't do it often and offers really easy extra credit! And most importantly, he teaches SO WELL!!!!

If I didn't have to take this class so late during summer I would've completely LOVED it. The professor is extremely easy to understand and he goes above and beyond to help his students. Those who say otherwise obviously never set foot in his office. Go to his office hours, I cannot stress this enough! I loved this professor I highly recommend him!

I love this class. He jokes about having to maintain a "reputation for being mean" but he's one of the nicest professors I've had. This is not an easy class, but if you work hard, you'll do well.

I did experimental psychology with Dr. Steutzle and now I am in my doctoral program. Thank God I had him as my professor. My dissertation would have been impossible if I did not have him. I hated his nit picking when I had him but now I know he knew what he was doing. If anyone out there plan on doing the PhD program, I would say, take Dr. Steutzle

He is a tough & nit-picky professor, so you have to keep up. There is a test pretty much every other Monday so you can't procrastinate. He is willing to help you, though, and appreciates it if you show effort. Go to class, even though it's not mandatory, and read the book. It helps.

I don't know who thinks this guy is mean. He is always in a good mood while teaching, which makes the students more excited to be there. I personally have always hated Math and was avoiding taking this Stats course, but he made it not so bad. His tests are extremely fair, though he is picky. Play by his rules, and you'll do fine and learn a lot.

For the lab section of 316, he isn't too bad. Uses his red pen a lot for corrections. Going to his office hours for writing your paper is very helpful. (hint hint). Grades kind of tough, but its manageable.

The lecture section was very straightforward and getting an A on the exams was fairly easy as long as you read the book. Attendance was not mandatory. The lab section was definitely more work, but not impossible- just keep up with all the work and go to his office hours when you need help!Overall he's not as bad as people say.

Stuetzle is nitpicky but good; he is so demanding because he wants you to learn how to do things correctly, not because he wants to make life difficult. If you put in effort and have problems, he will patiently help you out. He's not a warm person, but he cares about how you do, even if he doesn't show it that much.

Professor Stuetzle is a great teacher because he actually wants students to learn the material. His lectures are very clear and helpful. He is also very helpful in answering questions and he has a lot of patients. This class is not easy but if you study and do what you are supposed to do, an A is very possible. Dr. Stuetzle is a GREAT teacher of the material. His explanations and examples are very clear. Lecture is easy. The lab section of the course is tedious by design; grading can be picky. However, he is very available for office hours (going to him with questions about papers is a HUGE help). Would definitely reccommend him for others to take.

Dr. Stuetzle was an AMAZING teacher. His explanations and application of the concepts of statistics were on point. He helps one learn the material in a way that would not be possible without his class, so I highly recommend that you attend his lectures. Grading can be picky but he is fair. He makes himself available at all times if help is needed.

Professor Stuetzle is amazing. He is extremely helpful and will explain things clearly. He doesn't use Powerpoint so class is actually dynamic and (somewhat) engaging. He seems to genuinely want everyone to succeed and want to help you get there. I can't wait to take another class with him.

Dr. Stuetzle is an excellent professor. He doesn't use Powerpoint, which means he isn't standing reading off the slides like other professors. Stats can be confusing sometimes, but he answers questions and reviews practice problems a million times until everyone understands it, so if you study and practice there should be no problem.

Majority struggles for even a B+. Assigns a lot of hw, prepares you for the test, and he is very helpful. But his tests are very tricky and tedious. Must pay attention to every word he says in class. If you miss a class, you immediately fall behind. Maybe the difficulty level will prepare me for psy 390 with him but idk try another prof

Struetzle was an awesome professor. He relates the course content to the lives of his students in a way that makes what would normally be boring mundane info much more relevant and interesting. If it weren't for him I probably would have skipped the majority of the lectures.

Makes an effort to present the material in a clear way. We didn't get our homeworks back until late in the semester, so we couldn't really use his feedback until then, but really, that's the only complaint. If you have to take the class, he'll make it as painless as possible. He'll also read your ratemyprofessors comments :D

ATTNED OFFICE HOURS!! Dr. Stuetzle was very helpful during office hours and would go through the assignment step-by-step to make sure you understood what he wanted. The lectures are mandatory in order to understand the assignments. Just ask for help and he is MORE THAN WILLING to guide you through the assignments. Honestly such a nice professor.

He's such a great lecturer. The material can be dry & boring, but some of it is interesting stuff. He tries to make it fun in lectures & uses really good examples as well. However, YOU MUST READ THE BOOK. If you don't, you can kiss your grade goodbye.

Stuetzle does an amazing job at teaching this course, sometimes knows the answer before you ask the question. If you pay attention during lectures do all the homework and study the material you will be fine. The one thing I can say is that just knowing how to do the math will not cut it on the exams, you have to know the "why" and the explanations.

Read the textbook! Keeping up with the readings is key. I wouldn't say that the material is ridiculously hard, most is fairly easy to understand and common sense. It's really easy to get lost in this class, happened to me so many times. I would go back in my notes and have no idea what I was talking about. Staying on top of the material helps.

Dr. Stuetzle is the best! Lectures were actually interesting and I enjoyed going to class. Treats his students with the respect and is really understanding if you missed a test and will usually let you make it up.

Only grades are a few tests. The final is optional. He's lectures range from a little dry to actually interesting. He is funny and attempts to make the subject fun. His tests are all multiple choice, but they are rather hard unless you know someone that has already taken the tests in a previous semester. Attendance is occasionally for EC.

He cares about his students, and is very reasonable. The course itself can be difficult to understand, but his lectures and applications to the real world made it so much better. I would definitely recommend him! You do need to try in this course, he is willing to help you outside of class. Always answers any questions you may have.

One of my favorite teachers. Makes the class interesting and straight forward. Always there to help his students and really cares and loves his job. He makes the exams straight forward and studying isn't too bad. The homework isn't overwhelming but really helps you keep up in class. 100% recommend and would take again

Professor Stuetzle is my favorite prof here so far. His lectures are cool and he knows how to keep the information interesting. The only grades are off 3 tests and the final. He gives study guides a few nights before the tests that directly reflect the material covered. If you know the material on the guide, you should get an A.

Rick Stuetzle is a fantastic professor with unlimited compassion for his students. He WANTS you to do well, only if you put the effort in. I highly recommend going to his office hours and taking advantage of his comments. GO TO CLASS, attendance is required. His class is hard but for those going to grad school, he prepares you for future stats.

Professor Stuetzle made statistics incredibly interesting. I was afraid going in because I had never taken a stats course before, but his classes were super fun to be in and he did a great job at breaking down the problems and concepts before teaching the math. Definitely recommend going to and paying attention in classes.

Great stats professor, if you go to class and pay attention and take notes on the book the exams aren't hard. There are extra credit questions and he takes attendance and homework into account for your final grade. He is passionate about the subject and is good at explaining. You can tell Dr. Stuetzle really cares about his students. He's willing to adjust his schedule to meet with you. The class is hard for people who don't like stats but he is very good at explaining things and his lectures are usually funny and engaging. There are 4 tests that are pretty hard but homework is weighted as much as an exam.

If you intend to LEARN, take a class with Prof. Stuetzle. He has extensive experience in psychological testing and is passionate about the topic. He shares interesting anecdotal details from years' worth of experience. He is an excellent lecturer; engaging, clear, caring. Makes you want to be interested in material. He will challenge your thinking.

Best psych professor ever. Class is not mandatory but honestly does help. He puts the slides on BB but it is more beneficial to hear his lectures vs take notes on your own. Do the reading to have an idea of what he's talking about. If you took psych in high school its SUPER EASY. Tests are MC, 4 per semester and the 4th is the final.

Dr. Stuetzle is a smart intellectual professor who really knows what he's talking about and makes the class so interesting. I found myself being excited to go to his class. A lot of people chose to skip his class since he doesn't take attendance, but his lectures are genuinely interesting and helpful for the exams that it's really worth going to.

Show up, take good notes, devote a couple hours to each exam and youll get an A. The class is worth taking even if not for a grade tho, Dr. Stuetzle gives lectures that are incredibly for both psych and nonpsych majors. The content also gets more and more interesting as you go. 100% worth taking the class and 1000% worth getting to know the guy

Nice guy, grade is based on tests with no other work, the final is optional and replaces your lowest exam grade. Study guides are detailed and clear, and require some extra textbook reading but nothing on the test beyond what's on the study guide. Doesn't take attendance but offers EC opportunities in class only to those present.

Lectures are boring but so is the content, he makes it as interesting as possible. Moderate amount of homework, lets you correct your tests to make half of the points back. Exams are super fair and only have stuff that's on the study guide. Nice and helpful/accomodating

Stuetzle is a gem. This was my second class with him and he is extremely consistent as a professor. Will answer any question you have and is very helpful during office hours. Always gives a study guide with the material that will be on the test and the tests have no surprises. A lot of writing in the course, and he is detail-oriented when grading.

Professor Stuetzle is extremely knowledgeable on the material he teaches and really shows it in lecture. He teaches and explains the material in a way that is very understandable and interesting. His class is definitely test heavy, but there are no surprises on the exams. They are very fair, and its easy to do well if you study and go to class.

If you have the chance, take Stuetzle. nuff said super clear on what will be on the test and allows test corrections for 1/2 credit back. Also homeworks are extra credit.

By far the best professor I have ever had in this University. Professor Stuetzle is incredibly intelligent and is able to make any class fly by. There is no hw just exams but if you come to class participate and study there's no reason you should get anything below a B.

Professor Stuetzle is easily in my top 3 favorite professors. It is very clear how deep his knowledge is on the topics in this class and teaches them in a way that sticks. It is important to be present at lectures. He lays out exactly what you will be tested on and his exams are not super super easy but very fair.

*PSY 240 - this is easily the best class I've ever taken. The information is fascinating and the way he teaches it keeps students engaged. Tests were easy because I actually learned from his lectures. Go to class because he includes things on the exam (like specific examples) that he only talks about in his lectures. 4 non-cumulative exams

I really liked Stuetzle! He really is a great lecturer and I learned a lot in research methods. Is the class boring? Yes a little bit. But he knows it does everything in his power to make it interesting. I did well on the exams by READING THE BOOK! I promise it will help.Come to class and make sure to study and you should do great! The class was fine. Not a very interesting topic and no laptops in lecture. But, there was extra credit and the final is optional to drop your lowest exam grade. Did not read the textbook and still got an A. The most annoying part is sometimes his MC questions are weird, but not hard overall.

AWESOME. He is so clear on concepts & the lectures are the only reason I enjoyed the class. The subject is very boring but he made it so interesting by bringing in a lot of good examples & lots of humor. He is also so willing to meet outside of class & help you. Good professor who is clear about what he wants. The grade is based on 3 exams that are based on both his lectures and the book. His lectures are summaries of the book but he makes the content more digestible. The material is pretty simple it's just a lot of information. Lets you look over graded exams and explains correct answers.

Attendance isn't mandatory, but a lot of exam questions come from what he says in class. His lectures are pretty interesting and he doesn't allow laptops. If you pay attention in class and take notes the exams are straightforward multiple choice. He also provides a list of things you should know for each chapter prior to the exams. I recommend!

By far the BEST professor I have ever had!!! He is very funny and genuine. Lectures are great and informative. The course itself is not the most interesting bc it's a required research class but he makes it as interesting as it could possibly be! Don't be afraid to ask questions/for help. Dr. Stuetzle doesn't usually teach this class, he filled in for another professor, but this was the best class I have ever taken. He is truly an incredible professor and I recommend everyone take a class with Dr. Stuetzle! Definitely the best professor I have ever had!!!!

Dr. Stuetzle is generally a great professor. He is very accessible outside of class and you can tell he wants his students to do well. His tests aren't easy, but they are fair and doable if you put the work in.

Stuetzle is the absolute best. If you attend lecture and take notes, you will barely have to study for the exams. He explains the concepts so thoroughly that a middle schooler could understand them, which is how every course should be taught IMO.

He keeps class entertaining and cares about his work. As long as you attend lectures, you will have all the information you need for the exams. He gives lots of examples for the class concepts so you can understand.

Stueztle is great, no issues with him whatsoever, but 290 itself is probably the worst class I have ever taken at UM.

Best psych professor. Super kind and chill, lectures and materials are presented in a way in which you can understand it clearly. Just show up to class, take notes and you'll pass for sure.

I would describe Dr. Stuetzle as caring, helpful and accommodating. He's a great professor, but this class is homework-heavy and can be confusing, so I'm not sure if I would recommend taking it unless you are required to or really want to learn about statistics.

Very congenial lecturer that made class interesting. Did much more than read from slides so it isn't a good idea to skip as he often will give us test answers if you show up! Has a lot of experience and insightful comments/jokes which really helped me remember the material. Pretty basic as long as you take notes on slides/review you will do well.

Professor Stuetzle makes this required research course as engaging as possible. Though the subject can be dry, his approachable demeanor and helpful office hours make it manageable. Unstuck AI was a great study aid.

I had this professor for two separate courses last year and cannot say enough kind words about him. Genuinely one of the most caring people and professors of my college career, or academic career for that matter. He is fair and just, and also very accessible outside of class for extra help.

If you go to lectures, you'll be fine. The class sometimes feels drawn out, but he posts all the slideshows so if you miss anything you can always look on blackboard. The docs about the "important points" are very helpful, and if you use that as a guide, the class should be an easy A.

No attendance taken, but going to lecture helps a lot since he emphasizes what will be tested and explains material not fully covered on the slides but mentioned in the study guides. No cumulative final, just exam 4 during finals week. Very kind and helpful. Manageable if you put in the work.
