speaks english, but not a great explainer
Not very good at explaining, and can be very rude sometimes
very jittery in class, hard to follow, terrible handwriting
is totally willing to help with work outside of class, and is always happy
He doesn't explain very well and he goes really fast through lots of material.
He's hard to understand in class. very difficult to read his writing.
Hard to understand and very strict in grading
talks likehe's had some sort of paralysis - dropped the class - i couldnt deal
great teacher! such a cute little man and always willing to help
I dropped Casiple to get this clas - it was worth it. He is much better.
Great teacher, just pay attention in class. Grading is fair and reasonable.
i can not stand this class! not too hard but VERY boring!
Very disoriented, cant speak english well, quizzes w/ only 3 questions
wants u to understand, very spastic, might run straight into chalkboard one day

he is very confusing and unorganized and finds everything humorous when it isnt
catch up on sleep during this class, notes are online, too nuts to understand
Good teacher, hard tester, study and you'll do fine
Rickie Domangue domangue domangue rocks my world...tests hard
Someone call an exorcist! - too much energy for a normal person to have
Hard class, but if you pay attention and do the work you should be okay
Horrible! Too spastic and confusing! You think you know the material till you see the tests and are like what the hell!, he reminds me of Rainman. Dont take his class.
Very spastic, always moving around room and over explains simple details. Tests are hard, but doable...I wouldn't recommend him...
Interesting class. Sometimes you learn a lot, sometimes you don't know what the heck is going on. Pay attention, do the work, you'll do fine.
he is awesome and knows his stuff.
this guy sucks, he talks way too fast and isnt clear whatsoever, tries to be helpful but only confuses yuo even more, hes not a very good grader either, doesnt really believe in partial credit

he's one of my favorite professors! i'm a stats minor, so maybe it was easier for me, but i thought the class was a breeze. pay attention and read his notes tests were take-home and came STRAIGHT from the notes. he's so nice and friendly!
He rambles on forever but if you can stay awake and focus on what he says he tells you exactly what is going to be on the test.
By far the worst class I have taken at JMU. Confusing, tedious, and unhelpful... if you're not a Math person, he's the last person you want for Stats. Don't make my mistake... don't take this class.
For one who struggles in math this is not the professor for you. He is very condecending and makes you feel umb if you don't understand the first time. He is willing to help during his office hours. dont ask for x-tra credit he'll laugh at you.
My first C in college was due to him. He is a very nice man, and very helpful, but his teaching style is not the greatest.
Not clear and not structured...worst professor I've had at JMU so far
run...run far away! Homework everyday but it almost never has to be turned in. Tests are hard!
tests are very random from what is in the book... doing the hw doesnt help much, but you HAVE TO GO TO CLASS EVERY DAY! there is no attendance policy, but if you dont go, you wont know what he is doing.
if u are not a strong math student, domangue is a horrible professor. he rambles on and on and can not explain the material in an effective manner. he is difficult to follow and his tests cover random material. its like he enjoys seeing students fail.
This guy is terrible - I took AP stat before and still got lost. He rambles and does not explain well. His tests are on what he teaches, but the problems are not the same and will confuse you. His test scores always ranged down to 30 or below in my class.
not very good at teaching, doesnt curve, last test grade, class average was 69. he takes off for EVERYTHING on tests, its really meticulously annoying, you have to learn stats HIS way, does not test with the same format as we do in class
I went to class everyday, took notes and did homework, and I am still going to have to take it again, but with another professor. TRY TO SWITCH OUT! Its hard to understand what he is talking about when u look at your notes because he moves between topics.
I'm in the honors program and it was still real tough to keep pace b/c he isn't clear in lecture. Test questions are not of the same nature as hwk problems. Final was the only thing i was ready for b/c i studied his old tests. Do not recommend.
worst prof I've ever had. Avoid this prof whenever possible
This is the hardest class EVER! drop this class ASAP. He talks a mile a minute and mumbles. He knows his stuff, but expects everyone to know just as much as he does. Worst teacher ever.
dr. domangue makes his classes interesting, which is certainly more than can be said about most of the stat professors. that said, his class is EXTREMELY difficult -- the midterm was the hardest test i have ever taken, and no one in the class did very well on it.
really nice guy. difficult, but once you get used to his grading style you should be fine.on tests & hw, answr q's as specifically as possible.u MUST study & do hw probs for practice if u want to do well on exams.take advantage of his office hours: he can be a huge help if u dont understand something
This was one of the worst classes I have ever taken at this school.I recieved no help even when I went to office hours and he is very unclear in class. You want to avoid taking this class with him.He says, "it is against honor code for me to help on the hw." He had trouble solving problems himself.
Probably the hardest class I have ever taken. Does not provide much help on the homework, which in the last half of the semester is impossible.
Not the hardest class ever. If you're thinking that, you aren't studying hard enough. It's college, buck up. Domangue is very helpful and really wants his students to succeed. ALWAYS make use of his office hours.Do the hw even if it isnt for a grade,it def. helps you actually understand the concepts.
When it comes to stats, Domangue isn't a horrible option. Make sure you go to class, or you could easily fall behind. Ultimately, it's really up to you how well you do in the class. He's not the best when it comes to clarity. He grades the homework and tests pretty meticulously, so answer in detail.
Admittedly, I am not a Math mind, but this professor made this class ridiculously difficult. On average, I did better when I taught myself the material - will still likely have to repeat the course. He mumbles and gives hw which you are unable to check. Won't even go over tests in class. Switch out.
Stats is a hard class in general, but Domangue will help you if you are willing to give extra time and effort. He's not bad- if you take him, keep up, take notes, go to every class, do the homework, and see him if you don't understand something and you should be ok.
he's hard to follow... tests are very difficult... its not impossible to do well, but try to find another teacher if you can.
Serioulsy don't take this guy if you can avoid it. He mumbles and doesn't teach well. He's a nice guy but a terrible teacher, and he grades very strictly. He'll seriously take off points for picky things like putting 3 decimals instead of 2.
Domangue isn't a bad guy. As long as you pay attention in class and do the hw you'll do alright. Youn can't go in there expecting to breeze through it. He doesn't make the class terribly hard, he's just a little out there.
The class is not that bad! He is a little crazy but he is a nice guy that is willing to help in office hours. GO TO CLASS AND TAKE NOTES and you will do fine!
Dr. D is a good man means well but grades strictly. He will take points off your test for something so small like decimal places. He does have office hours often. All in all if i was to do it again I would not take him.
Domangue is not a good teacher at all. He mumbles to the point where no human can understand him. He grades way too hard and his tests are impossible. Switch out if you can.
I am not an idiot when it comes to math, but this guys classes are so boring and he makes the tests a lot harder than they need to be. I would recommend that you take someone else if possible. He laughts at himself the whole class and he mumbles when he teaches. The other teachers use SPSS as projects you will you it during the test.Hate this class
absolutley ridiculous....... 1. Mumbles 2. ridiculous at grading tests 3. boring 4. tests are soo much harder than they should be. 5. he is available for extra help but its not worth going. 6. Talks way too fast and he goes all over the place. 7. Doesn't explain material well ... I would try to find somebody else unless you took this class in h.s.
Very nice guy, but horrible teacher. He should be teaching like 400 level math classes, nothing general. Its a hard class and he makes it harder. He means well, but do not take him if you can possibly avoid it. I am switching major's specifically to avoid failing this class again.
dude forget about taking class from him if you want to do well. i went to every class and took notes (as well as I cud) but i mean the man is scrambled. he mumbles and you cant understand what he is saying. i once went to his office for help before an exam and still failed. he's a hard grader and doesn't care if his students are doing well.
Terrible professor, could not understand a single word this man said. Mumbles, laughs to himself all the time and his tests are waaayyy to hard. Not even worth going to office hours, provides no help. Everyone in my class planned on retaking the class, hey JMU, why do you still have this guy working for you?
Professor Domangue is the hottest prof around. He has a great sense of humor and he goes the extra mile so students understand what statistics is about. I strongly recommend this prof for Math 220
dont waste your time! his notes(as well as him) are all over the place, you**** understand a word he says b/c he mumbles. i went to every class and the wilson math help center and still didnt do well. i went to his office for help bc my avg had dropped to a 50 and he asked why i was so worried and now i have to repeat forgive stats.
He is actually an ok teacher...yeah he mumbles but everytime I approach him for help I have had no problem! Im doing well in the class, I have no complaints. He's a pretty decent teacher. I wont complain
he's a pretty ok teacher. he mumbles so it's hard to understand him and the test are really hard if you don't study.
HORRIBLEEE!!! The whole class is lost,we all just sit there with blank stares, he mumbles so he's impossible to hear, I thought the class was fine at the beginning but it gets really hard so don't be fooled, get another teacher!!
He's awkward and boring, but the class isn't as hard as everyone says it is. Make sure you do all of the homework problems he assigns in the book-- they aren't graded, but that's what really helped me learn the material and they're usually very similar to the questions that will be on the tests.
worst teacher at JMU, by far!!could not understand a word out of his mouth and acted as if you should already know the material..isnt that why we are in class?? did not even go over exams or homework.then refused to give out evaluation sheets...AVOID!!!!
Don't listen to what everyone is saying. He is the sweetest guy! And you can really tell that he enjoys stats, he gets so excited in class. I think he explains everything really well and the only time I get confused is doing the homework before he goes over it. But other than that he's great!
Professor Domangue is an amazing guy, don't listen to everyone else. Incredibly willing to help you out if you need it, gives out review sheets and "practice" problems before every test- really wants you to do well. Really nice professor who just wants his students to understand the material and do well.
He's really nice and loves when you ask questions. I took stats in high school and thought it was an easy review but can understand why other people had a hard time learning from him. Make sure to do the book problems if you've never taken stats.
Prof. Domangue is a great professor. When going into his class i was worried because i wasn't a "math" person and i read his reviews on ratemyprof.com..but he makes sure that you understand everything! His mumbling isn't that bad but you def. need to do the textbook problems and really study for tests in order to do well in his class!
do not take. he is the most socially awkward man you will ever meet. he laughs at himself, his grunts every 45 seconds, and stumbles at everything in his way. class is hard...hard to goto, hard to pay attention, hard not to laugh at this man. please avoid.
i loved him. he is so socially awkward but it is charming, i am terrible at math, but if you do the book problems he is so easy to follow. he understands that people get bored so he just prattles to himself. over all i would suggest taking it because he cares a lot about stats and makes you want to learn a bit.
Textbook is online, but it is his own rough draft of one, full of errors. Extremely willing to help but so unclear that asking questions will take FAR longer than figuring it out for yourself. The class material was pretty easy in my opinion and what difficulty I had was from trying to pay attention to the material repeated over and over and over.
The biggest goofball in the world, no doubt. You need to be an independent student with this stuff because paying attention in class is impossible with a computer in front of you. He's an entertaining man, though.
not the best professor i've ever had but compared to other stats professors he's probably one of the better ones to get. he really does want you to do well. tests are very straightforward, as long as you do the homework you'll be fine.
Prof. Domangue is an awesome teacher. He's kind of quirky and awkward at first, but as far as actually teaching goes, he's really good. And this is coming from someone who is not very good at math in the first place.
I'm not a math person by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, Dr. Domangue was a fairly good professor. He is awkward, like most people have written but I went to his office a few times and he was really helpful. if you ask for help, he is happy to meet with you outside of class. Take him if you are ready to work... but learn as well.
Real nice guy, kinda awkward but he really likes teaching and helping a lot. 3 tests, 5 graded homeworks, 1 final worth 30%. Only has a 5 point grading system, meaning no +'s or -'s, which means an 80 and an 89 are the same. One of the better stat teachers out there to get
Repeats himself endlessly, and cannot stop grunting for some reason. He's a nice guy, but he goes really fast and doesn't really do enough examples. He also expects you to understand how to code in SAS without ever going over anything, he shows you a template and throws you a huge portion of your final to you in code. Good luck!
He is very quick and very repetitive. He is awkward but always wants to help you. He assigns homework everyday but doesn't go over it or check if you did it. There are 5 graded homework assignments, 3 exams, and a final. Notes are all online. Not that bad of a professor
He's hard to keep up with, he's really repetitive, and he seems scatterbrained most of the time. If you read the book, do the homework, and study really hard you'll do alright.
he posts test solutions to tests from last semester to study from, tests are usually just variations of old tests. book work is optional, a couple graded easy hw worksheets. reinforces material by repeating content often, but otherwise i find him very easy to learn from. fair grader, good professor, take him
Such a nice guy, and great professor. Really helps anyone in need, always willing to work something out with you. Very flexible schedule. So excited to help you learn, one of the best stat teachers out there.
I'll be honest, ANOVA is a hard class, but it's NOT because of Prof. Domangue. I've had him for 3 consecutive semesters, and he's a great teacher. He loves statistics and is always willing to help you. Take him if you can! Especially for upper level classes, they're probably going to be challenging regardless, Prof. Domangue is good :)
I hate this class. I just do not like Stats. I love Professor Domangue. He is so funny, and always wants to help. He's a little hard to follow and a tad boring at times. Be prepared to teach yourself most of the material, but dedicated and countless hours in ECL will help your final grade. Take him just you can get a daily laugh..he's so nice and f
Extremely nice guy, really funny too. Its easy to zone out during lectures but most stuff you can teach to yourself thorugh homeworks and studying the book. Awesome guy very smart. Take him for sure.
He is the nicest person you will ever meet. He loves everyone that goes to office hours, so just go even if you don't have a question. Also he is so willing to help, even if you have questions from two test ago. He is hard to understand
He is a really nice teacher, and he is really good at making everything very clear. The tests were pretty easy, and he gives you his old exams to study off of.
Professor Domangue is a really smart guy, and overall is a really good teacher. For this class you have to be willing to put in time and effort, but if you do you will be fine.
Really nice guy. Likes to laugh a lot. If you put in a decent amount of time to study you will do well. Helpful and friendly. Very fair
As far as math professors at JMU go, he's not too bad, but I've had better. He talks in this kind of mumbly Louisiana accent that's kind of hard to understand. Not always the best at explaining things either. Beware of the practice tests; the real tests are a LOT harder. Some graded homework, but most is not. Does not use Blackboard.
I took Stats with Garren first semester and had to drop out because it was so hard. Domangue made it SO much easier, he always explains things really well and loves Stats. He's really helpful if you go to office hours and drops your lowest test grade if you do better on the final. I would definitely recommend him if Stats is not your strong point!
terrible! i hated him, he rambles on about nothing most of the time and you learn more from the book then actually going to class.
Really nice and helpful, gives you a lot to study and wants you to do well. I had no interest in this class, but he made it easy to understand with a lot of examples. Three tests and a final, tests aren't bad; he gives you a study guide and many practice sheets for all of them, drops lowest test grade! great class overall
LOVED him. You have to be able to appreciate him, I guess, but he is so funny. He is always very willing to meet and help out. I didn't find his class very difficult. Make sure you pay attention or you will get lost and fall behind. "(while making a scatterplot, chalk breaks) Oh dear, I pressed too hard. I'd have made an excellent woodpecker."
most impossible class ever. do not take unless you need it. two tests and one project and that's all you're graded on. if you do poorly on one, you're screwed
Domanque is very hard. I am not a math person and that might be why but he never gives enough examples and SAS is very confusing. He often mumbles and he goes very fast without checking to see if others understand it. He gives a midterm a final and a project if you fail one you are done for. I currently have a 59%. I would avoid him.
Easy teacher- homeworks are easy- HIS TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE AND DO NOT MATCH HIS LAYED BACK TEACHING STYLE- He talks like Forrest Gump- nice guy- avoid his stat class.
this class is seriously impossible. 2 tests that are all open ended questions. you think that homework assignments will bring your grade up, but he grades those hard too. domangue is so awkward, definitely would not take him again
Sucks. Stats is already difficult for me in general and this makes it even worse. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. It takes so much effort for me to even attend, since classes are so boring and his Forrest Gump voice lulls me to sleep. But then he gives 3 tests and all are so hard and there is no way to be fully prepared for them.
This professor is fine despite other ratings, he uses a lot of examples and goes off topic a bit, but explains things enough times so that you will know the material. Pretty easy to fill Gen Ed cluster 3 Math.
His class is so boring! It's pretty easy though but I had a prior knowledge of stat. He explained things very well and did a lot of examples. He would sometimes get sidetracked but never too bad.
First of all, he DOES take attendance, so beware of that. Even though he is a fairly easy professor, he is pretty boring. I really didn't learn anything. He's a super nice guy who will help you if you ask for it. He gives a lot of examples, past quizzes, and non-graded homework. There are 5 graded homeworks though.
He knows statistics but he is not good at teaching it. I dropped the class after 2 weeks. You cannot understand what he is saying because he laughs at everything he says and mumbles. He is very disorganized (unprepared for class, looking for missing papers for 30 minutes before beginning class, etc.). He's sweet and intelligent but a bad professor.
Domangue's ANOVA class doesn't teach you much about the actually test, I learned more in my nonparametric class. You have to do homeworks that are graded harshly so plan to spend at least five hours on them. Also plan on using SAS in class, and though he tries to explain in class it may come up on a test and you have to draw the table from memory.
He is the most boring professor ever, and he lets students use laptops in class, so it is almost impossible to pay attention. When you can manage to pay attention, he is pretty confusing and spends so much time on one simple thing and it feels like he neglects the harder stuff. Also he grades really harsh. Would not recommend.
He loves teaching this class and you can definitely tell. He's really understanding and easy to talk to during his office hours. The test are hard but as long as you do the non-graded homework you'll get a good grade.
this class was terrible. his voice puts you to sleep and then his tests are super hard.
Great to talk to in Office Hours or after class. Rambles a bit in lectures about Samples and Populations.
Ever wanted to know the difference between samples and populations? If so, this guy cuts the musty!
Very tough grader and his lectures are horrible. I had to teach myself everything from the textbook right before an exam. He takes points of for the stupid little things and is always proud when there is a low average grade on a test. Do not take!
Does a good job talking about what samples are not: populations.
He is a bit hard to understand at first but you get used to it. Ask questions if you don't understand, he sometimes doesn't realize how fast he's going so he will clarify. Copy down his examples. I thought the tests were very fair. He gives practice problems which is so nice-do them and re do his examples and you'll be fine. I finished with an A!
He goes through 2 white board markers in a lecture. Sometimes confusing if you do not follow with the pdf that he provides. He covers exactly what is on the pdf book and the exams are pretty much like what he goes over in class. I would say this class isn't hard. He is very helpful in office hours. Tough grader. Not a bad professor.
Very boring lectures but if you do the homework you'll be more than fine.
he can not talk right, has no idea what he is talking about, gives the worst examples. if you ask him a question he does not even know the answer. tries to show you how to use the calculator and then finds out he cant work it right and gives up. does not like to give A's on ANYTHING. he will argue with your reasoning, YOU ARE ALWAYS WRONG. AVOID
aviod
Professor Domangue is a fantastic professor. He's very good at teaching and is excellent at responding to emails to answer any questions a student might have. He might be a bit corky, but I really like him and would recommend him to anybody. I failed stats last year and I got a B in Professor Domangue's class so that's saying something.
He is very dorky but gets his point across. Lectures can be pretty boring but if you are confused about anything he responds to emails very quickly and is very helpful in office hours. There are 3 tests and he replaces your lowest score with your score on the final for that test section.
He goes off on tangents & spends too much time on specific little things rather than broad topics. He rarely answers questions clearly & refers you back to an example that he's gone over 100 times, yet still doesn't explain clearly.
very helpful but I had to teach myself a lot of the material
After previously taking AP stat in high school this had to of been the easiest class. He gives 5 short homework assignments that I normally could do while in class and 3 tests and a final that were all pretty easy. With that said, he is a horrible teacher. Overall if you know Stat take him because its not a lot of work but if not, don't take him!
Do NOT take Domangue!!! The only reason I was able to pass was because I had taken stats in high school. You will have to teach yourself while still having to go to his very boring, useless, and mandatory lectures. Nice guy, but horrible at teaching!
Great teacher!
He gets a bad rep but he's really not bad at all. He is a little scatter-brained and can be kind of confusing, but if you go to class, pay attention, do the readings/homework you should really be fine. He is so nice and willing to help and is especially helpful in office hours. He may not be the BEST choice, but his class completely doable
GO TO CLASS OR HE DROPS YOU 2 WHOLE LETTER GRADES. Prof. D is the most socially awkward professor ever. He tends to repeat himself, but all in all, he's a solid choice. Caring guy loves stats
lectures were a little all over the place and spent more time on obvious topics rather than the confusing topics but he cares a lot about statistics. your grade is based on tests and easy homeworks. From what i know he is one of the only teachers at JMU that lets students use calculators. this class is a lot of teaching yourself but its very doable
Tests were very different from practice problems and book sets. Lots of irrelevant tangents during lecture. Not a very good professor.
