This class was boring. The teach was good. She was very into teaching and wanted to get everybody involved in the lectures. other that that class being boring, if you keep up with the read you'll do fine. Theres one paper thats not too bad.

Amazing teacher. Lectures reflect on everyday situations. Funny. Nice, understanding. She does not treat males differently, she welcomes all. Assigns a lot of readings, but readings are discussed in class. No hard. Just keep up with the readings, and you'll pass.

She usually gets there late, takes roll, there are very few assignments and quizzes, 1 test, the class in general is a dry class but its not hard at all just read and listen to lectures and you'll do fine. Not a hard teacher. Her hair annoys me thou. haha

She is very very easy. Tests are simple but very well written. All you have to do are the journals every week and get good grades on the test. That should never be a problem. She's very easy to work with also. And its always interesting with her lectures. You'll atleast learn something from her class. It wont be a waste of your time.

She is a good professor she's always late.She lectures a lot she sometimes gets really boring.We see a couple of videos and there are weekly journals due on fridays and a midterm and a final no tests.

Prof.Manoff is like any other great prof.If you are a real dedicated student, you shouldn't have trouble in any class.Her readings are interesting and so is her lecture.She gives midterm, final and journal every week. She even gives xtra cred, what more do you want? Her 50 min class flies by, take her!

I disagree with the other comments. I found class entertaining, however some of the reading was dull. Some reading was interesting though. She doesnt make anything sound like we're supposed to hate men, she just wants all genders as well as all races to be equal.

Prof. Manoff was great. She looks mean and you'd think she was boring but once she gets to her lectures she is really funny and really into the subject. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, journal every week, a midterm and a final. She expects you to read, and the reading is on the tests. Take GWS with her.

She is a pretty awesome teacher. She makes class fun and the class wasn't hard at all. There is 1 midterm and 1 final and 2 journals due. For the midterm and final you need the highlighted words in the book and everything you did in class(including movies watched and guest lecturers). It was a fun class and i learned a lot from her.

Great class regardless if one interested in GWS. I learned a lot about the subject. The class is not too hard, though it does consist of reading plenty of articles. All that matters in the entire class is the 3 exams you will take. Otherwise, easy class, recommend to anyone.

This class was extremely interesting and the videos she shows are incredible. she isnt a difficult professor but you do have to read the text and study for the exams. shes really sweet and ask alot of questions, she likes that

First off Ricky Manoff is a women professor. She is hilarious with her jokes, but she takes certain topics serious. very interesting class. she said you needed to book but if you just pay attention to the terms in class and take a couple notes. then your good, as long as you pay attention. Highly recommend her

Really great professor, learned quite a lot from her. Very important to read the text and take good notes because she allows the use of notes during exams. She speaks clearly and doesn't demand a great deal other than reading.There are 3 written exams that are fairly manageable if you've read and took good notes. Would definitely recommend to anyon

Very nice, great explanations on the subject, makes the subject easy to understand with her great explanations. All you need to do in order to get an A is read all the readings, on the examines she looks for a lot of quotes from the reading. in general these is a great class.

I love Professor Manoff! She's hilarious and she really makes you aware of what's going on in women's lives. She makes the class really interesting with videos & guest speakers. Only 2 midterms & a 5 paragraph essay as part of the test, but she grades easy. Read Ms. Magazine, the book, and take good notes in class. Easy & great class, I promise!

This class was so informative. Professor presents great examples of topics discussed, funny, patient. Exams very fair. Short online articles read througout the semester. MCon key terms from txtbk and short essay based on one of the articles. Would recommend this class to anyone interested in gender and women's studies. :)

I cannot express how much I loved this class. GWS is my major and she just deals with the subject so well, and in an unbiased manner. At times it was a little hard to keep up with her digressions but I enjoyed her class. She really makes you think. I believe that everyone no matter what gender should take this class.

I absolutely love this woman. I looked forward to every class because she was just so interesting, presented material in an amazing way, and was super funny. You have to do the reading and she loves it when you participate. Exams are easy because she tells you exactly what you have to. I wish I could take her again.

I thought this class would be a lot easier but it's also more interesting than I expected. If you care about the issues of women in society, I highly recommend it. She's a great professor. It was a real eye-opener.

She's hilarious. If you believe in equality then you'll LOVE her. She's wonderful. I never thought about women and men and society before. It's funny b/c I'm a guy and she made me realize that more of us need to be taking these classes.

I loved this class she is hilarious and definitely knows what shes talking about. There is a lot of reading tho that you must read to understand what shes talking about. I learned a ton in this class that I never thought about before. And definitely can relate to it so much.

There's a lot of reading, but as long as you get the main point of each reading, you'll be fine. 1 midterm and one 5-7 page paper (which is really easy). Just pay attention in class and read. Professor Manoff is wonderful! Gender Women Studies was not my cup of tea, I just took this class for my GE but I ended up loving this class. She makes you think outside the box and makes her class fun. Every class is a discussion and it really just turns into a conversation. She is a great professor, if you are hesitant, you need not worry.

I learned a lot. Great class. Not too many assignments but reading every week. The reading was interesting though so it wasn't a problem.

Definitely altered my perspective on feminism and other issues involving GWS. One of my favorite classes! I highly recommend taking her. She's straight to the point & extremely animated when she tells her stories or explains a concept. Everyone should take her. It was a pleasure being in her class.

Incredibly eye-opening class. The heap of textbook reading each week may seem daunting, but it is absolutely required if you want to pass the class. You'll watch a lot of films as well.

She is so funny and she really makes her class interesting by letting everyone share their opinions and stories. She has a few movies to show and brings in a few guest speakers that are really cool. As long as you READ, because you need to, you will be fine. She isn't a tough grader and even curved a test to make sure most students passed.

This class was pretty much an eye opening experience & if I could I would totally take another course with this professor. Her lectures are interesting & discussions are always good. Love the class! Work for your grade & come to class.

She really talk alot and sometimes lecture has its moments when its interesting and boring. The test were pretty fair and understandable IF YOU READ! So buying the book is MANDATORY!

She inspired me to pursue Gender and Woman Studies through the reading she assigned and her wonderful interactive lectures. I would definitely take her again.

I had taken GWS 100,110and 300 got easy A's with her. Dr Ricky she has inspired me into women studies. She is the best even in the departement should be head of the dept. TAKE HER TRUST ME

There's only 2 tests (midterm- written, final- multiple choice)& 1 quiz. She lets you out early. Her lectures can be interesting but they can get really long& tiring. Test questions are mainly from the textbook so PLEASE read that really well. Quite a bit writing assignments but majority of the time only one paragraph. Gives tons of extra credit.

LOTS OF READING! If you want to save money on textbooks, this class probably isn't it. I think we have four textbooks? I've heard it's an easy A class, but who knows. We'll see! As a professor, she's very passionate and intelligent. She can be humorous and interesting at times, which make lectures less boring.

A great professor! She has intriguing lectures, the little homework is fairly easy as long as you read. YOU MUST READ!! We have 4 books in total for this class, but if you are interested in the subject you will not find difficulty whatsoever reading them. Syllabus is super clear. Stay on top your work week by week and you will easily pass!

She is an amazing professor!! The only thing is that there is a LOT of reading!! Tests are confusing MUST read the weekly readings repeatedly because she is not straightforward when it comes to her tests. She wants to make you think a lot in her exams so its difficult. Exams are the most important in order to get a good grade in her class.

Very underrated professor. Most students LOVE her, u can tell she's passionate about the subject & it really helps. She knew I bs'd the whole semester and pulled me aside and offered me a long extra credit essay but it was well worth it! LOTS of reading very essential for test. Interesting lectures and casual class.

From the past two years of attending CSUN, Professor Manoff is my favorite professor! I took a Friday morning class at 8 am which everyone believes that its tiring but every time I went to class, Professor Manoff would wake me up from her inspirational lectures and she is so funny! I would come to class and participate in every topic.

Take her ! She is the best ! I have taken her for both GWS 300 & 301 Expect to attend and read Wonderful Professor. I wish other CSUN professors learn form her.

Professor Manoff is a great professor. I would not take her class again unfortunately because you have to read A LOT, A LOT, AND A L OT. Her lectures are interesting sometimes and she's pretty funny. She gives several extra credit and a few quizzes. Just make sure to read & re read all the chapters before each test so you can remember & pass!

Try to avoid. This course requires a ton of reading & a lot of writing. Lectures are rather long and at times can be a bit boring.

Honestly my favorite class. Amazing professor and actually taught me something. Definitely take this class, it is not hard and she grades extremely fairly. Really interesting topics discussed, if I could take this class again I would.

I would totally recommend this professor. Yes you have to read books and online magazines, but it's easy reading. You have to show up to class but it's okay cause she makes it interesting, even those 8am classes! If you need help feel free to ask her, she actually helps students! And tons of extra credit !

PROS: Makes class interesting; really values student input; since it's a feminism class, there will be times for Christian people to feel like parts of the course is their cup of tea. But she respects people's beliefs so take her; 3 small paper; one midtrem and final; tons of extra credit CONS: None!

Communicates to the class effectively what we're learning. Prof. Manoff is more than welcome to answer your questions; she is incredibly helpful. Tests are exactly what you will be discussing and reviewing in class; they aren't difficult. No group projects, only 3-4 exams and a few 1-page summaries. She is very funny and very easy to get along with

her tests are confusing, make sure you learn the concepts and read the book well! attendance is mandatory. i love her lectures, it's entertaining! it's like she's just talking to us. i look forward going to class. we watch movies sometimes. she cares about students, doesn't want us to fail. she doesn't answer emails tho, beware!

Professor Manoff is one of the best professors I've ever had. Her lectures are funny, entertaining, and she was extremely understanding about absences I had throughout the semester. I know the topic of feminism can be intimidating or uninteresting to most male students, but I promise Manoff makes it one of your favorite classes.

Wonderful professor! Usually people get bored sitting listening to a professor ramble however Manoff keeps it interesting and encourages discussion which is easy to participate in. Midterm/Final in greenbook but not difficult. An event paper and weekly discussion papers about the chapters (only one page can be bullet points).

Loved her and this class. Learned so much that has also been useful to my other classes. Whether you are in the major or not, I recommend taking this class with her regardless. You'll thank me later

3 exams based on in class lecture (no PowerPoint) and on the readings. Read and pay attention and you will pass. Take this class with her I promise you won't regret it, she's really cool. This class really changed my perspective on women and became a feminist after. Good luck.

She is so intelligent and insightful and so beautifully brings together feminism in a broad perspective which enables students to see it through a more multifaceted perspective. She lectures a lot which I love and I enjoyed her lectures so much! She explains concepts really and is funny!

She is amazing - you have read weekly but nothing is graded besides 4 small paragraphs relating to specific readings throughout the semester. A midterm and final which is like a second midterm - half multiple choice and half is essay format. If you study it is easy - she gives you everything you need to study for. Gives pop-up quizzes but fun!

Really insightful and cares about GWS. Class was super easy, do the readings A. Test are based on readings + lecture, but most questions are common sense. Even though it was an 8am class her lectures are really funny. You learn new info in her class and feel like its more of a conversation than a lesson. Highly recommend!

Pros: relatable, knowledgable, very open, she gives the facts not her opinion, clear about grading and what needs to be done to get an A, she is hilarious, in my class it was 3 essays, 3 exams, and attendance for the grade. Cons: never replied to my emails, might as well talk to her in class, a ton of reading.

She was good, I would recommend her if you want to take an easy GE. There are three exams which are all written, few EC opportunities and she makes you buy so many textbooks tbh i dont remember if i even used some of them. Buy them as you go, don't purchase all at once. I wouldnt take again only bc the subject was boring but she's a very nice lady

About 2 papers on 2 books, 1 midterm and final project interviewing someone. The professor has funny moments and is willing to help if you have any concerns. There's a couple hours of reading unless you read fast "Who Cooked Adam Smith's Dinner" and "Nickel and Dimed". Also a course reader that has answers to some questions on midterm

Probably one of the best professors. She's very understanding and passionate about what she teaches, and who she teaches to. Her work is not difficult, and she makes you want to go to class. Her tests are based on the readings, which aren't difficult to read either.

I loved her class SO much! You'll learn a lot in her class. She's intelligent, caring, and kind. She offers A LOT of extra credit. She only has three tests and three short writing assignments. The downsides are she assigns a lot of reading and rarely responds to emails. I really enjoyed being in her class!

Was great in the beginning, but after the 2nd half of the course, it was like she was just rambling & repeating the same stuff she's said in the past. Each class meeting is just her lecturing about one of the many books we have to read. There's a sign-in sheet(attendance), 3 exams, & final. I read all the books & felt like it didn't help for tests.

Sweet lady with meaningful lectures. There are pop quizzes but they are all answers that are common sense. Claims attendance is mandatory but I literally only came 4 times and got an A in the class. Midterms and exams are few multiple choice, fill in the blanks, definitions, and short essay questions. Very easy topic and class.

One of the best professors I've had @CSUN! Easy to approach, she is so intelligent and knows her stuff pretty well. This is my 2nd time taking her and I have learned so much from her. Her lectures are interesting and very informative, she explains concepts well, for an 11 AM class she sure kept everyone awake. Super sweet & caring!.

Good lectures. Weekly discussions and (2) Quizzes based on the Weekly readings in the semester. Her own questions so I advised doing the readings. They're pretty short readings.

The way this class has made me view things differently is insane. She is very passionate about women's studies, and I WOULD 100% retake this course again if I could. Gave two quizzes, a final essay, and only assigns discussion posts with weekly readings, books are free online just look for them. She is overall one of the best professors i've had.

Prof. Manoff makes this course engaging and thought-provoking. The readings are manageable, and Unstuck study was a great study tool alongside the textbook. Attendance is mandatory, but the material is interesting enough to make it worthwhile.

She was easily my favorite teacher of the semester! She is incredibly kind, yet one of the best lecturers I have had in how she would teach about many hard subjects. She would make sure everyone could talk and have their opinions be heard and respected. The work was done in class, and the reading was minimal, but lectures full of information! :)
