She's really nice. Has a thick accent but really tries her best to help every student in understand the material. There's not too much homework in the class and quizes were decent. Dont let her appearance fool you :)

Mrs. Chakrabarti was very helpful, and knowledgeable with the subject matter. I would recommend Rini, and would take another one of her courses.

wow... what a great teacher. I was hesitant in taking her at first because i saw all these horrible things about her below. This professor does a great job explaining the material and answering questions. If you show up to class everyday, do a little homework and turn in all the assignments, you will get an A. I defiantly recommend this teacher.

This teacher is great! She can be a little difficult to understand some times and she can occasionally make a mistake or two but she will take the time to help you if you ask. She treats you like an adult and expects people to act as adults as well, if not then you will have a hard time.

I would definately recommend this professor. She is very thorough in her explanations and is very patient with students when answering questions. I would definately suggest that you attend class regularly because in class assignements can add points to your grade. All in all I think she was a great professor.

Rini is an excellent teacher for Trig. She gave our class ample opportunities to make up bad grades (on tests even) and missed assignments. She knows her math very well and is interested in student performance. If you do bad in her class it is because you and you alone. Don't blame good teachers for your lack of ability!

I am truly disappointed that I can't manage to sign up for all her classes, for my required Maths. I loved the pacing of her classes (nice and quick) and loved that 99% of the class was working on practice problems. I found her very easy to understand, and really knows what she's talking about.

She is a wonderful teacher! She explains everything well and makes sure before going on that we all understood. The class is definitely not easy but she is so nice and helpful.

Rini is very helpful. People who struggled with this class either didn't attend class or didn't speak up for help when they got lost. Rini does tend to go fast during the lectures but is always willing to explain it better if anyone didn't understand. If your willing to put in the work then you'll pass with flying colors

Rini is an excellent teacher. She can be a tough grader, but she prepares you for the final. She offers extra credit classes and is extremely willing to help if you have any questions. Those who did poorly in this class either did not ask for help, or they did not practice. I highly recommend taking her class.

I like the way Rini teaches. She does a whole lot of problem from every section. Gives extra practice problems.

Had this instr. for Fall Qtr 2012. Rini is a great math instructor. Granted, her accent can get in the way sometimes but she still tried to make class entertaining. I passed her class with a "B-" not because she had anything to do with it but because Math is my worst subject. Rini was very helpful and was pretty good at answering all our Qs.

Her accent is initially hard to understand, but you get used to it. She is very sincere and gives alot of worksheets and extra practice problems.

I don't understand why some people say that Rini is not a good teacher. She is a very good math teacher. Her lecture is crystal clear. Some people commented that they could not follow her lecture.. really?.. I don't think so! Don't blame good teacher for your lack of ability!!

Mrs chakabarti was one of the best math instructors in my academic life. She explains everything clearly and repeat it several times if needed.She is an orgonized person, and all you have to do is attending at her class and listen carefully. I extremely recommend to take her class.

She is really a fantastic teacher if you do your part. Her grading is lenient on tests and quizzes for tiny mistakes made and will sometimes give partial credit if you at-least show your work. Test and quiz problems are from the book or assignments in class with sometimes a slight variation. At her core she is a genuinely good and kind professor.

This teacher explained things clearly. Sometimes she got lost, and make us confuse. Overall, she is a great teacher, but you have to work hard to get good grade in this class

Do the work, show up and pay attention and you won't have a problem with her class. Only reason I didn't get an A was because I never took Math 141 and my math skills were rusty.

rini is the best math instructor.If you are planing to take her class( math153),PLEASE READ THIS!this is how i got my A at her class. I showed up Everyday, make sure i can solve the worksheet by myself before every quiz and test. I only did 15% of her homework. She covers every important point in the class(80% solving problems)good luck!

She is a tough grader on tests and quizzes. You have to use your textbook and online resources to guide your learning, because sometimes her explanations will confuse more than help. She is helpful and good at explaining when you ask in person. Overall this is not an easy A class so plan your schedule to make time for studying.

Quizes are timed! 25 min is not enough to answer the hard problems! Group work is assigned and due the same day. Once again, timed - 20 min, not enough time to answer hard problems! I am a math major and regret taking her class, TAKE IT WITH ANYONE ELSE OR DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS! Take my wisdom, you will regret it if you don't!

Rini is a good teacher overall. She starts off the Math 153 (Calc 3) with the hardest section Ch 10. That is why she is seen as a difficult teacher. She knows what she is teaching but timed quized and graded group work make it really tough to pass with a 4.0. I suggest taking this class with no others or not at all...

Great teacher! Loved taking her class. Sometimes explanations or concepts were a little hard to understand, but if you ask for help, she will gladly stay late to help walk you through it until you do understand. Tests/quizzes are timed, and the lessons move fast, but if you are a serious student you will get along great and really enjoy the class.

Fabulous teacher! Humorous, helpful, and clear. A little slow on grading the online homework, but that's understandable. Also can make errors with the other grading, but if you check which ones she marked wrong and return to her to ask abou it, she'll be very fair. She'll either give you the points or explain where you went wrong. Great teacher!

Yes, I agree that she is a strict teacher. Show your work and you get points. She wants you t understand the math. Her tests are very similar to her assignments and problems done in class. Take her class if you want to know what Math is.

This is one of the hardest math classes. One need to understand the logic and get the feel of actual math. Rini is very sincere and explains very well. Her accent is hard to understand at times, but you get used to it. Worksheets and quizzes help you prepare for the tests.

Very clear, concise, & knowledgeable. Quizzes, midterm, and final are all straight forward. Show up to class, pay attention, do practice problems, and you will get an A. Also, remember that lim n-> infinity (1+1/n)^n = e. Her final is comprised of questions from the quizzes and final review. Would be glad to take another class with her again.

Good instructor. Always there to help students understand the chapters. I saw her offered students to see her after class for more math practice. Explain in the class very clear. 2 exams, 6 quizs (drop one of the lowest quiz) Exam review helps a lot. Some extra credits (popup quiz, attendance) Overall good quality. I definitely take with her again.

I chose the option A when I was taking the class which meant that both the grades of classwork and homework were counted into your total grades.I admitted that there lots of home work on the math lab you would need to do ,which also help you have better understanding and was helpful your tests. Work hard ,you wont fail it !

Its a math class, so it's difficult. That being said, Rini is a good, clear teacher and your grade is dependent on how much you pay attention, your work ethic, and your overall mathematic ability. Her expectations on tests are very clear-cut. Would recommend. The online portion of the textbook is mandatory, but the physical copy not as much.

I loved her teaching style - she thoroughly goes over equation processes several times, checks in with students to make sure everyone's on the same page, and then moves on and gives us a chance to do some ourselves. She will spend all the time you need so that you understand. Tests were hard near the end so be sure you choose to turn homework in!

Mrs. Chakrabarti is a tough grader and her tests are hard but in lecture she explains things well and by requiring homework she helps you practice. She helps you if you ask her for help and isn't a pain about it. She is a good instructor.

Taking 99 with her was one of the smartest things I did this summer. A bad quiz won't kill your grade as long as you do BOTH the textbook and the online homework(10% of grade). The midterm and final aren't bad either, but if you study and get help from her and the math lab, then you should be set. Unless you're a ninja, don't come late.

As long as you attend class regularly and do the homework (plus practice), you will succeed in the class. Chakrabarti also made regularly checking and replying to emails a top priority, especially when the student needed help.

I don't understand all this horrible reviews about her. I have taken her class and she was amazing. She was so clear in everything, her lectures were pretty understandable and she gives tons of extra credits which helps your grade a lot. I would strongly recommend her.

There is a lot of material expected to be known. Chakrabarti puts in massive effort to cover it all, quiz it all, and reinforce all prior knowledge. Get a tutor ASAP if you are weak in algebra. Fully internalize values of unit circle before classes begin. Challenging and rewarding. Highly recommend.

DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!! It's super expensive and I didn't use it once. Do the online homework and review your notes from class and you will do well. She is a good teacher- I'm not sure why some people said otherwise.

She is a fair professor. I am taking an online class and she really wants to see you pass and succeed. My attendance is good but I overheard her telling other students they can make up their missed classes (Very fair). She gives good feedback in math and is really fair on grading.

I took Math 107 (Math In Society) with Rini and I loved her! She replies quickly to all emails. She is very straight forward in her lectures and grading. If you are willing to put in the work she is willing to meet you half way. She provides a comfortable learning environment I recommend taking her! I learned a lot from her class.

Professor Chakrabathi a great teacher who gives LOTS of extra credit for slip ups on tests. She goes through many proofs on the board so you don't memorize lots of formulas. That said, there is no getting around how much you have to practice in Calc 2. Lots of quizzes, she uses the WOMAP system for HW with lots of helpful videos

Mrs. Chakrabarti is a fantastic teacher. She is very willing to answer questions that students have during class. Math152 requires practice, put in the work and you will be just fine. She was always willing to meet outside of class to answer questions. Extra credit on tests and quizzes. Quizzes are weekly, but fair. Tests are fair as well.

Mrs. Chakrabarti is a great math teacher who is available to help outside of class and wants to see you succeed. Math 152 is not an easy class and there is a quiz/test every week but they are not very hard and as long as you do the book work and the homework you should be fine. Lectures are good and thorough and help you understand the content.

Really good teacher, goes at a pace to make sure that you understand. Always willing to answer questions and makes sure that she gives a full answer. Funny and very sweet as well as understanding. only 3 test , quizzes are worth more because there are more of them. Study! other than that she is really good.

This is a hard class, so DO the optional homework and you will succeed. She's a great teacher, but expects you to remember algebra and geometry (which is where all of the mistakes are made). Smart teacher who seems cold, but actually cares about her students. The calculus part of the class was easy; the algebra wasn't but that's not her fault.

Professor Chakrabarti gives clear and interesting lectures and takes time to give her students a solid foundation in Calculus. I felt very comfortable in my Calc 2 class this quarter, having taken her class for Calc 1. If you put as much effort into homework as she does into teaching, you'll do great!

I hadn't taken a math class in about a decade before joining Professor Chakrabarti's precalc 2 course. She is very caring and takes time to explain concepts and makes sure that everyone is up to speed. However, if you do not do your homework (and, yes, that includes memorization), it will be tough. So just do it. She is a fantastic professor!

Rini was an excellent professor and she was always willing to help you whenever you needed it. Although Math 150 was only 2 credit class, she was able to help us review as much as we can so that we could be successful in Math 151. I have no idea why there are so many bad reviews on here. Rini was nothing but kind and helpful throughout the quarter.

Great instructor. Definitely recommend for math related courses. Lot of group work that's due in class so don't skip. Would enroll in her other math courses.

I'm honestly surprised she has as low of a rating as she does. She's a perfectly fine teacher and does a great job in her lectures. She always reminds us to ask questions and to come during her office hours if we need help. She also responds quickly to emails. I will say that she can be a somewhat tough grader occasionally but it's really not bad.

Ms. Chakrabarti is a great teacher. She has clearly outlined the expectations and criteria of what is expected. She also clearly shows the homework and class work that is due and test dates are fixed so its easy to stay on track. Her lectures are structured and balanced perfectly with instruction and practice. Warmups are also important.

Mrs. C was great. She answers emails very fast and doesn't hesitate to help you. I tend to struggle with Math but she made it simple. There are homework and worksheets and whatever you miss she tells you why and you can go into office hours and study everything with her. Very kind and a great straightforward teacher. Highly recommend.

Mrs. Chakrabarti was very supportive, and understanding when I had to extend the class because of my medical problems. Replies to emails quickly, encouraged me to do my best, graded my work quickly, and gave good comments. The class wasn't hard, however requires a lot of studying of the concepts and practice.

She had a brief check-in every week where you wrote a sentence or two and was always sure to respond. Had a set time for meetings but was always available to meet other times. She also had a bunch of optional review that was super helpful, and was very willing to meet and discuss grades on quizzes and such.

She might be a bit strict with grading. Can go over material pretty quickly, def helps if students are more active. Cares about students and is understanding of situations.

I went to office hours on a regular basis and she was able to help walk me through problems/concepts I did not understand. She was very quick about responding to messages. Her homework was clearly assigned and she provided helpful videos to go along with the problems. She is willing to help you if asked. Extra credit and some retakes were allowed.

She was a very nice professor but there was just too much work. You need to be there for class or you will get behind very fast and will not pass. She is a tough grader. She is very particular about how things need to be turned in and how you show your work. Would not recommend or retake. Responds to emails and gives good feedback.

It's a tough course, with lots of quizzes and homework, but it gives you a solid foundation and discipline to learn higher mathematics. If you do well in this course you don't have to worry about Calculus. Ms. C. is very approachable in the Math Lab, and she has a talent of explaining things so well that makes everything crystal-clear!
