He was very clear on what to expect on the class donde day one. Labs were pretty entertaining and test were based on the material he provided(also some extra credit questions) read the material and youll be fine on the test.

Riold Furtuna was a wonderful professor! Any questions or areas of uncertainty he could make clear instantly. His lectures are mostly easy and the best part interesting! It is an easy A if you study his lecture slides. Plus there's little class work. I highly recommend taking him!

Professor Furtuna is passionate about the subject he teaches. He is always professional and takes his job very seriously. Students should take his class seriously. You do have to study and work hard, but that is expected in a college level course. I have taken many college courses and I appreciate a professor who expects excellence.

This class was very well structured with dense learning material. Professor Fortuna ultimately wanted to ensure that his students were learning the material to their fullest capabilities. I took this class as a prerequisite for nursing. The course is really well structured, the professor very dedicated and supportive. biology is a prerequisite. As I had taken biology recently I found the class to be very entertaining and enjoyable. As a general rule for any college class, including this one,you must do some work in order to succeed!

Microbio is a very hard class- lots of material, and you need background knowledge in biology, chemistry, etc. I retook the class with Prof. Fortuna. He is able to make the difficult subject accessible in a way that not all teachers can. I was able to do well with him teaching. Just be sure to study the lectures, handouts, and textbook well.

I took Professor Furtuna for Microbiology as a fully online course. I was apprehensive to take the course online, but he made the material so interesting and easy to understand. Gives plenty of resources in addition to his lectures. Grades fair and if you follow all of his instructions for assignments, you can pull off a really good grade.

Professor Furtuna was a superb educator. He's caring and gets to know his students (even through this 4-week semester). Grades consist of 4 Lecture Exams (70%), Determination of Unknown (10%), Lab Quizzes (10%), and a Disease Presentation (10%). Lab attendance could've factored towards grades. My goal was to understand and pass the class and he facilitated that with to-the-point lecture notes, he explained (I have had professors who don't fully explain their lecture notes). Professor Furtuna is the GOAT. I took the hybrid class and only come in once a week for Lab. You have to be disciplined! Go over all the materials(power points, lectures, quizzes etc) and syllabus to stay ahead and on top of everything. I took professor Furtuna over the Spring semester. He definitely cares about his students, but he will pick favorites. Lots of work, but a majority of the work, if not all, is meant to help you learn. Great professor, make sure you review the after chapter practice questions because it will be on the exam.

I took a hybrid course. And it was a good class. There was pre-lab quizzes to do every week, and post-lab work required. Professor is very organized, knowledgeable and patient. I have been at Gateway for 2 years. Prof. Furtuna is one of the top prof. I've had, so far. Most Prof. will read material off slides.He does not. He explains his material and does hands on activities to make sure that all the information sinks in. Any Bio class you take will be hard, but it helps when your prof knows how to explain!

Even with the stress and fast paced learning, he ensured that we understood the material and he genuinely wanted us to do well. He is very clear about assignments and grades. He was always quick to respond, explained concepts clearly, and truly cares about his students. The class was challenging, but I learned so much. I drove over an hour twice a week and would gladly do it again to take one of his classes.

This class gave my anxiety, ANXIETY. 4 Exams for lecture and 1 final exam for lab. Please study, if you do not you will not pass. First two lecture exams were the hardest the rest is easy, do not get discouraged. Offers a lot of HW and quizzes to boost your grade. Professor Fortuna is great. May the odds be in your favor.
