Atrocious clarity on assignments. Unclear grading scheme, a lack of communication and unfair treatment of individuals.

Firstly let's be clear that this class (CMNS 125) is titled "Introduction to Workplace Communication". This is due to the fact that it is a first-year course that many of us are required to take for our degrees... All I will say is avoid this prof

Terrible grading, doesn't clarify anything homework wise. Students do assignments how she asks yet fail the assignment. If you miss 2 classes you don't receive any participation % from classes according to the syllabus. Very strict. Following what she asks from you for assignments ends up in failing the assignment. Be very careful.

Unclear grading criteria. Very tough grader. She is a relatively nice professor and means well but she is not an effective communicator, especially for a communications class. The content itself is manageable but the lack of clarity will leave you frustrated when you look at your marks.

Just don't take this teacher if you don't want to retake the class.

No clarity or clear direction on assignments. Does not create a positive learning environment. you cannot ask her for assistance as she responds "refer to textbook" with This class will negatively impact your GPA avoid at all costs.

Horrible prof, every review on here is right on, she isn't clear on her instructions, then gets mad at the class. When you get a bad mark, and ask her what you did wrong, she will say "refer to the textbook"

CMNS was supposed to be GPA booster class, but instead it decreased even more!

This prof is actually horrible. I have never posted on this website until her because people need to know. Unclear. Rude. Ridiculous marker. Does not explain anything and then fails you for doing what she said. Tons of assignments that she doesn't explain. If you ask questions it's a "breach of academic integrity" AVOID HER

The prof was very rude and made a few classes feel uncomfortable. One class she asked for feedback on how to be a better prof and when a classmate said she could be more clear on certain things, the prof snapped and yelled at her. Don't take this prof if you want an easy class or an enjoyable teacher. Take her only if it's the last option.

Weird grading criteria. If you work really hard on this class, you will be disappointed. Atake graded our assignments very subjectively. Seems like she has given A- to everyone. You can easily get a A- in this class. However, it was scarcely possible to get A or A+. Unless you are lucky enough.

You have to go through a lot of difficulty to do things. She makes students submit one assignment many times and burdens the students every week.

She always gave long-long guidelines but those guidelines are not clear which always makes you difficult to understand what to do and she after that she is not good grader.

Very Rude Professor. Did not respond to my emails because I greeted her with "hey", gives very vague instructions and deducts points if any little part of the instructions is not met. Has a very messy way of instructing with assignment instructions spread in various different sources each containing important information, leading to complications.

Very Rude. Always think she is right and doesn't listen to her Students. Donot provide proper guidelines and deduct so many marks on such minor mistakes. Too professional.

Least flexible professor I have ever had, especially online. Unwilling to respond to emails, only will respond to discussion forums. Doesn't provide feedback for personal submissions only group work. Assignments are super detailed but still very vague and confusing with the online format. Multiple assignments every week, lots of reading and work

CMNS 125 is an introduction class. She treats in like a 4th year communications class. Grading criteria is incredibly confusing. I am a 3rd year student who has done assignments like hers before and I'm still confused. She is NOT a good teacher for students coming into this for the first time. I'm astonished she's allowed to teach this.

Rita's delivery of the course content was disorganized / confusing. Multiple pieces of critical assignment instructions are spread out in a variety of places. Her grading is completely arbitrary and not necessarily based on her own assignment requirements. These requirements are clearly copy / pasted from one to the next where they no longer apply.

She has two agendas: 1) to turn you into a robot business communicator 2) to shape your worldview on racism and ethnocentrism. Both are equally as important to her. Ok, maybe #2 is more important. For a communications instructor, she is not great at communication. I felt bad for students from India with poor wifi, coming from rote learning. Hard.

Rita was not understanding of students having tech issues. She gave poor feedback and didn't seem to understand students' writing--2nd yr avg A student and she graded my paper a 60. Claimed it was impossible to read. Assignment instructions were unclear. Hard to reach or get a reply from. Too stressful and difficult for a 100 level class

Rita is a terrible teacher, I had her for CMNS 125. She is far from understanding and when you need help it's like your a pest bothering her. Rita also does not respond to emails for at least 72 hours and that is if your lucky to even get a response. PLEASE do not take this class with her you will HATE your life. She truly deserves a 1!

Late and unclear instructions every week. Doesn't care about students at all. The questions on the quiz go by her logic so you cannot get nearly full points, and don't expect an explanation from her. Lectures are condescending, she will show you that you're merely a student and she worked hard for a PhD. DO NOT TAKE IF NOT NECESSARY!!!!

Tough grader and terrible at answering questions specific to assignments.

For a communications course, there was not much communication from her. Theres not enough characters to even begin but just dont take an online course with her if you can avoid it. Ive never written a review on a prof but this was necessary. You will lose marks on assignments for things you were told to do in the guidelines. Seriously, avoid her

she is the worst teacher i have ever seen in my life, Believe me, please don't take her class, instead, wait for a semester to take a class with another professor. To take a class with her is a loss of money and time.

She is terrible! Does not explain assignments properly and is condescending when you ask her questions. I would avoid her at all costs. I had a 4.0 GPA, she is the reason why my GPA went down the drain.

Very unclear assignment guidelines, turning simple assignments into complicated ones. She is very confrontational when you ask her questions in class. Likes to pick on students, and claim that she is "teaching". WhatsApp group is 100% necessary to do well in class. I don't usually write reviews, but she is the exception.

she is so rude thinks she is way better than her students. took longer to figure out what she wanted than do the actual assignments. criteria confusing, not allowed to email her questions. she wants u to ask ur classmates instead. she took marks off for doing a thing I was supposed to do in criteria. this class is a guessing game n ur always wrong

Really disrespectful teacher. She did not listen my problems ever and even made fun. She is a kind of racist.

Some of her comments genuinely feel like they are making fun of the student, rather than explaining how things are supposed to be done. Her grading criteria is so hard and she wants us to follow exactly what she says. She is not flexible on due dates. Honestly avoid this prof if u can I'm sure there are others who grade and teach better.

This is not an educator who respects their students or even seems to want them to succeed.

She tries to be too professional and makes sure you know that she is superior to you. Assignments and quizzes due multiple times a week, every week. She does not like being corrected, or even want to hear an opinion other than her own. She become defensive when questioned and reiterates all of the education she has compared to you. Good luck.

CMNS is supposed to be an easy course but Rita made it really tough. There are 4 assignments due each week which include video assignments that do not seem doable every week. She is also super rude and insensitive when approached with a problem.

Changes her grading criteria a week after the assignment is due to add a huge piece to the project that we were explicitly told to NOT do, and not at all respectful of other students' valid complaints about it. Has been impossible to communicate with all semester and unclear about everything, ironically.

Seriously, absolutely under no circumstances EVER take a class with her. She was so unbelievably unreceptive to feedback even though she was prone to making grade-altering mistakes in her criteria that it is genuinely like talking to a brick wall (who is also rude about it somehow?) Save yourself the money because you'll be teaching yourself anyway

Rita constantly stressed me out for no apparent reason. She believed I never followed instructions but they were nowhere near clear to begin with. A previous reviewer wondered why she had such high difficulty. It is because she made what should be an extremely braindead easy class unnecessarily difficult by being unclear and unfair.

Does not take her class. She will make you sick and upset with her mental sicknesses. She always add your grade wrong and will give you hard time if you complain about it.

Port 398. I got a good grade because it's an easy class but I would never take a course with Rita again. She's pretty disrespectful to students and doesn't teach.

The worst professor I have ever had. she also demands you address her as Dr Atake, girl you have a doctorate in educational studies nobody cares. If you want to be incredibly frustrated for an entire semester she is perfect.

Their quizzes had too many grammatical errors, making them very confusing. Most of your semester is all quizzes. Terrible communication. Rubrics for assignments don't make sense and contradict themselves. Most of the time, she just makes you read the textbook and doesn't record lectures. I would never retake this professor.

AIS 299. Rita is by far one of the worst professors I've had. She is: Rude Not available outside of class (she never responds to emails - this was an online course with 4 meeting times!) & vague on her grading and feedback. Every single negative review about her is the absolute truth. Rita made an otherwise easy class extremely stressful. Avoid.

EXTREMELY RUDE. I took the class as an independent study and she gave no instructions for any assignments. She refused to speak over email, and when she did, was condescending and disrespectful. She is an easy marker, but I struggled with creating every assignment because there was no guidelines. She also posted little content to learn off of.

I took Rita for AIS 299. Truly a subpar professor. Class was way more stressful than it needed to be - she would spend the first quarter of class berating students for poor work submitted. I have no doubt low quality work was submitted by some students, this awful mood Rita cultivated in the class would affect the students going above and beyond.

I took Rita's online course AIS299. She never behaved nicely class. If we asked any doubt twice she would never respond to it. I won't suggest anyone to choose her course even if it's online. Thank you.

She is honestly the worst teacher at UFV I have had, and does not seem mentally stable. She berated students during Zoom sessions by name and gave very confusing instructions. If anyone got confused, she would get very frustrated and refuse to explain again since we did not listen. She also won't respond to emails, at all. Don't do it

Had incorrect answers on exams and then when notified didn't change the questions on future exams. Spoke down to students. Didn't give proper information for studying for exams. Got mad when people failed which was inevitable due to the unclear language in exams. It's laughable that she teaches communications and plain language.

The first 80% of the class is fine. However, the finals assignments/exams had incredibly unclear and confusing instructions. As mentioned in another review, there were incorrect exam answers. She was condescending when asked for clarification on feedback. Ironic she teaches communications.

Avoid taking any classes with Rita. Assignments are unclear and Rita is not open to clarifying questions students have. She will take a long time to respond to emails and responses are passive and rude. For a communications course, Rita needs to take a page out of her own book.

Genuinely the worst professor I've ever had. She is probably the most unkind person I've had to deal with. If you ask a question, she becomes furious and will not answer you. If you do not follow her extremely vague and contradictory instructions perfectly, you lose marks. Also,Rita does not answer emails. And you must refer to her as DR, of course

She leaves ChatGPT prompts in her feedback and emails to the class. She is combative and demeaning if you ask her a clarifying question on anything and will literally yell at you if you so much as try to let her know she doesn't have the zoom meeting working correctly. You can tell she doesn't care about us or the content she is teaching whatsoever

Unprofessional, rude, unclear, hypocritical. I've never witness a professor be so consistently rude to any speaker in the zoom class but then acts surprised that no one feels comfortable speaking. Her instructions are not clear but you better figure it out, she won't help. She is beyond condescending. I wish I had more characters to say more.

Constant poor & unclear communication. Syllabus & outline contain missing or wrong info. Assigned a major final project (13%) with only 29h to complete with no prior instructions. Critical Reflection #1 was actually a hidden 50-question midterm announced 2 hours before. No rubrics, no positive feedback, publicly berated students, avoided questions.

Simply says worst professor ever.I felt racism throughout the semester. Emails were never answered, I was not allowed to join a Zoom class despite providing screenshots, and I was told I'd receive a zero. because I join class late and wasted her time and in the 2nd class she humiliated me didn't let me speak. I have do it again now will she pay me

I would not recommend taking this class with this instructor. She is frequently rude, does not make allowances for late enrollment or missed work even if familyemergency arises, and responds poorly to student questions. Emails often go unanswered, and marks are deducted for minor errors. The online class environment caused significant anxiety.
