This is my favorite teacher in the world. You could have the worst day and she'll put a smile on ur face. Take her if you can. Her class is easy and she'll help u with anything. I took her twice.

Excellent teacher. She is funny, and spices up the class. She will tell you funny stories about her children, or adventures that they have together. Take her class if you have the chance, you will never regret it.

Best professor for b.oth ENC1101 and ENC1102

She is a very good teacher. Am currently taking her for remedial writing and she is really funny and really wants you to learn. She does have a bit of attitude and is not the easiest techer you have to work ALOT!!!

I have enjoyed having her as a teacher. She is smart, funny, and knowledgeable. I have had her for ENC 0025, SLS, and ENC 1101. I recommend taking her for all courses especially ENC 1101 and 1102. Pay attention and good luck!

I love her! She is honestly a great teacher and tries to help you as much as possible. I learned a lot compared to my other classes. She does have a sarcastic attitude so if you get offended easily dont take her cause she will put you on the spot.

Professor Sterling is an AMAZING professor. She only gives 3 easy essays and a group presentation at the end. I thought that it was going to be a hard class but it was a breeze, and she HILARIOUS, she made the class fun and easy.

Took Professor Fernandez for two 8 week classes. Learned so much in a short time. She explains everything 10 times until you get it. Yeah, she is tough and gives attitude sometimes because she wants you to learn. I have taken English before but the way she teaches kept me interested and I learned a lot. If you want to learn take her class.

Very tough, but one of the best. Has high expectations for you and goes out of her way to help you improve. Grades your essays strictly but because there are very clear directions instructed for you to follow. Helps you.

Love this professor. In the beginning of the term she does try to intimidate you, but don't be intimidated, she's a very good professor and is not as crazy tough as she seems. There is a lot of group work in this class but it is very easy. Papers are very short ( 150-250 words) and 1 longer paper. Definitely recommend taking this class!

I took this class for Summer A online. Be prepared to go on zoom and read in front of the class. She is nice teacher, but she does not take anyone's BS! Tough grader and tells you exactly how it is. It is a lot of work, but an easy A if you do it. Overall,it was a great class, but would not recommend if you take things personal.

Professor Fernandez-Sterling is an amazing educator. She is very passionate about literature which makes the class more enjoyable. She is very specific and clear about how to improve our writing, and I became a better writer because of her class. It is easy to get an A, but you need to attend every class and put in the work. Professor Fernandez is definitely one of my favorite teachers that Ive taken. She makes the class engaging, has her students read interesting pieces of literature that usually correlate to one and another, and will help you with feedback. I had taken her for both ENC1101 and ENC1102, both classes were beyond great! Its hard to fail the class!

Honestly, I hated English, especially writing before taking her. She likes concise and to-the-point papers, she doesn't make you suffer through long papers and the concepts were fun! Honestly is a great and funny professor not too many assignments. Great for finishing ENC1101 and ENC1102 had her for both and got A's by just following directions.

Absolutely love this professor! I looked forward to this class ever Tuesday and Thursday! The class is fairly easy with weekly readings and assignments. She tells you exactly what she is looking for when grading, so there are no surprises. It was a pleasure having her this semester despite the course being online due to covid. Oh, and no tests!

She does not play. You have to put the effort into your work if you want to get a good grade in her class.

When I tell you to take this class, take it. She is the kindest most understanding professor in Miami Dade College. All her stories are so amazing and so are her poems. I took ENC 1101 and ENC 1102 with Professor Fernandez-Sterling, and I can guarantee you that you'll actually learn. She selects amazing lit pieces to read during class and explains the content along the way. There are group assignments and a final group project with plenty of time to complete and submit. She gives detailed guidelines and feedback.

Not sure what class those who are complaining took, but my experience in Professor Fernandez's class was amazing. Yes, she's tough but also fair. Her guidelines are clearly posted with examples. The stories, poems, and plays were interesting and engaging. I really enjoyed the discussions about the readings. I would take any class she teaches!

It's very simple: attend class, follow instructions, ask questions, and submit your work. Prof. Fernandez knows her stuff, is passionate, and caring. If you put forth the effort, you'll easily pass. Professor Fernandez-Sterling is the BEST professor I've had at MDC. I took ENC 1101 for Summer A term. Professor Fernandez made it easy to understand each assignment. One essay, one group essay, and a final project which consists of a 1,000-word essay and oral presentation.

Professor Fernandez-Sterling was an amazing professor. Although she may seem very strict when reviewing your work before you turn it in she is actually a fairly easy grader. I took the class online and the assignments were one paragraph you do on your own, a group essay, a final essay, a final presentation, and a few lectures.

This was the only English class in my entire life I have actually wanted to go to. Dont procrastinate, pay attention and you will pass. She is super funny and she really teaches you the material so students will understand. She does peer and professor reviews with feedback before submitting an assignment. Overall, I would take her class again.

I really enjoyed taking this course. It was online, but she made it feel as if you were there in person. We read many stories and plays together as a class and did group assignments on them. There are many extra credit opportunities. My favorite was Arts & Letters Day. There was a lot of effort and passion put into it. Will be attending again!

Everything I can say about Professor Rita, is that she is one of the best professor I have ever had in MDC. She is not only a great professor, but also a great human being. She does care about you, and help you in every single manner to make it to the end. I took this class for Summer A term, and the class was about 2 group projects, and 2 papers.

You are lucky if you come across a teacher like her. She cares about every one of her students. You will learn about the fundamentals of writing that will set you up for success. She offers extra credit, gives you clear instructions, and makes learning fun. You need to participate in this class. If you show you care, she will care! Remember that!

I had a very high A throughout most of the semester but I couldn't go to two classes because I was sick and missed two days of her professor review for an assignment and she gave me a 0 since it wasn't professor reviewed and it dropped my grade 16 points within the last two weeks of the semester so I ended with a B. SHOW UP TO CLASS TRUST ME.

If you apply yourself and follow all the guidelines to a tee, you'll pass. she has very clear grading criteria, but is a tough grader. gives plenty of time to complete assignments. Pay attention and participate.

I would take Prof Fernandez again; her assignments are easy, but you just really have to pay attention to her. She's very easy to reach by email and responds in a timely manner outside of class. She does have a passive-aggressive demeanor, but I wouldn't take it personally. Online students, be aware that you'll need to show your face.

She is a good teacher if you follow exactly what she asks of you. If you do not, she will point out your mistakes. The assignments overall though were very simple. For the final project make sure you pick someone that will also put in the work. She seems to get upset quickly so fix the mistakes if any. Though she was good, would not take again.
