Such a ridiculous turn in time for assignments. If you have a full time job good luck with this class. Assignments/Test are due at 5pm, so if you work an 8-5 schedule or you basically get screwed out of a full day and get a shorter amount of time to work on your stuff. took an online class to make it easier on my schedule, made life more difficult.

This class was great for my schedule. It's an 8 week class and it was at an easy pace. Watch the lectures and take a quiz and test at the end of the week. Not bad at all

I took ASL 1 and 2 at saddleback, and recently transfer to a different college. I realized what she thought me was below beginner. I have to catch up so hard now. I thought at first I was really good at it, but no.. it was not much teach for the real Deaf world.

She will not answer questions sent via email. I don't understand how an online professor can just completely ignore students. I submitted multiple emails with a question and was totally ignored. very frustrating. If I were you, I'd take ASL with a different instructor.

I had this instructor for SL 1 and I found it to be the best fit for my schedule. It was very clear and had plenty of time to complete my quizzes and exams. Since it's only an 8 week class we learned weekly and tested at the end of the week. Thank you Dr. Tamer!! This was a great class and I learned alot. Can't wait til SL 2

It was an 8-week course, so the units and tests were a bit longer, but it was manageable. Each weekly unit had around 30 minutes of video lecture, a 30 question sentence quiz, and a 100 question test. There were also 3 short discussions and a 1-2 page paper. The last assignment is a monologue, which is optional unless it changes your letter grade.

Not the greatest for an online class, I specifically take online classes (for GE) to work around my busy schedule of full time plus being a full time in class student at a trade school. I leave my house at 6am get home at 10pm, which meant for me that I had to either stay up until 12am-1am or wake up at 3am to complete the quiz and test on time.

This online class is clear from the first day what is due, when and how long you have to complete it. Once you get that down then you know what is expected.I've sent a lot of emails to her and she would respond in a very respectable time frame. The class is only 8 weeks with 7 tests, there is a lot of work, but it's a laid out .

Super easy class to take online. Her lectures/homework/test are clear to understand. Make sure you study and it will be an easy A. Her grading is based on points. She requires you to attend a deaf event, but if you can't make it then you can write a paper of a deaf topic she picks instead.

I was worried about taking ASL online without someone to communicate with, but Prof Tamer made learning ASL really easy and smooth. You have a test every other week 100 questions (the ?'s get repetitive so its easy), vocab/sentence structure video lectures, deaf event/paper project, & monologue. I enjoyed learning with her & am able to sign easily!

In person, I am sure she is a fantastic professor, however, in the online class, it is the opposite. She treats the SL2 class like it is an SL3 or SL4 class if there was one. She signs exceedingly fast for teaching via a youtube video. As well as only letting you watch the videos twice during exams. Which when paired with the clarity issue is hard.

Overall, this was a very manageable class to take. I was afraid to take it online but found it very easy to learn all of the vocab as long as i watched the lecture videos at least two times. I took the 8-week online course and although it moved pretty quickly, I would have been bored if we had the same vocab for more than one week. Great professor!

There are a monologue and Deaf event paper which she isn't a tough grader on.

Professor Tamer was a great choice. Her lectures are videos of her teaching ASL, and they were filmed nicely. Don't waste your money buying the books because you never touch them once. Just as long as you study everyday, you'll do just fine. Everything in the class weighs the same, so if you do bad on an assignment, your grade will be fine.

While I think Professor Tamer is probably fantastic in person, I feel her online class is lacking. I sadly feel as though I did not learn very much and lost my passion to sign. It was easy, but it felt too easy since now I do not really feel prepared to go into SL 3. I just don't think it feasible to teach SL not on Zoom. I don't recommend.

Good teacher. Only 2-3 assignments a week, but one is a test of 50 questions. There is a test every week, and you need to learn 115-140 signs to prepare for the test. Hard to memorize it all, but definitely teaches you ASL. Very strict with deadlines so do not take unless you are 100% sure you will make every assignment on time.
