SHe is very nice, but her work is hard.
HARD TO UNDERSTAND She has a strong accent so you really can't understand her unless you sit in the first row with all your attention on her from start to finish. when you ask for help in lab she really doesn't answer your questions but drops hints and makes u figure it out yourself even though you have no idea what your doing.
I feel that she could make her class and test more intering if she would try and stop trying to make her student feel like that have to know as much as she does. She is the worst instructor that I have ever had.
She is horrible I actually dropped the class because i dreaded going each week. Her test are worded to trick the students. She is also very little help when asked questions. She acts like your stupid and should have known it to begin with. I'd take anyone else besides her.
She is the worst instructor could ever want for an Anatony class. I really wish that SFCC would get rid of her. She tries to make people feel that she is better than them. I really do not understand how she gets away with that. There was several students in my class this term that dropped her class. They just hate dealing with her and the attitude.
omg what did i i get myself into. i should have looked her up before taking her class but she was tba. we got into a fight about some stupid late paper she went off the deep end when she could have just told me that she does not take late work. NEVER EVER TAKE HER CLASS>>>> its so lame and her teaching style is so wack, i had to withdraw
SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD IN ALL MY YEARS OF GOING TO SCHOOL, AND I WOULDN'T ADVISE ANYONE TO TAKE HER CLASS.
Teacher is horrible and cannot teach to save her life. I have never hated a subject or class so much. Wish the teacher would listen to us when we say your no help. Only people passing are people who have previous degrees in the subject.
This Teacher is the Worst!!! My Friends and I took it together after reading the ratings on here and thought "oh well if we take it together maybe we can pass." YEAH RIGHT! This teacher is the worst. she has the strongest African accent and still can't traslate sentences to english correctly. Her test are worded terrible. REALLY HARD DON'T TAKE HER
worst teacher i have ever had in my entire life. i'm not one to be mean or rude to a ateacher, but this lady is terrible! first of all she has a very thick accent which makes it difficult to understand, then when you ask her questions she never answers it and shes will not help you!
she is not clear and she is mean. she will make you feel stupid and childish for asking questions in class and gives you major attitude. she moves really fast through alot of material and has a pretty heavy accent so its hard to keep up. the class itself isnt that difficult if you study hard and pay attention, but she is not helpful or kind.
Shes is just horrible, attendance is mandatory and does nothing but go over power points for her lectures as fast as she can. Can not answer any questions and is hard to understand. The only reason i took he class is because it was the last class i could get into.
I am working towards a 2nd bachelors and Prof Torto is one of the worst profs I've ever had. Her accent is very difficult to understand and her lectures are worthless. I got an A by reading the textbook and ignoring her lectures. No one got over a "C" on the lab midterm and she said "she didn't understand why we did so poorly" Steer clear!
I personally like her although she is not a very good teacher. Her accent can be problematic but you can get used to it. She is disorganized. There were often wrong answers on her exams. She was not very clear as to how some grades were counted so I can't figure my grade. She is a good person whom I had NO trouble approaching. Not a good prof.
THE WORST TEACHER EVER! DO NOT TAKE! i don't care how desperate you are to take this class wait until next semester if you have to. she does not answer your questions, she is rude and catty. very condescending!she is obviously still learning english because her tests were hard to understand. just horrible all around.
This is the worst professor I've encountered at Santa Fe. Her accent is hard to understand but also she never answers the question you ask her. I ended up dropping the class and I have Hotzman this semester who is AMAZING. Steer away from this class, especially if you really need to know the material for your career.
Dr. Torto is one of my favorite teachers at Santa Fe. She provides you with all the lecture notes and even though I did not buy a text book, I did well on all exams, even those set by the department. She is always ready to meet with you if you need extra help. Anatomy can be difficult but if you go to class and listen, you can do very well.
I didn't learn anything in her class. I spent most of class trying to figure out what she was saying due to her accent and poor grammar. She is not good at explaining the material and many people did poorly in her class as a result. Torta is a good person but a bad teacher.
Dr Torto is a very nice lady. She wants to be helpful and tries to make the class interesting. However, she is not a good teacher and her English is terrible. She cannot pronounce the vocabulary words. Her knowledge of the subject matter is unimpressive and frequently has the wrong answers on her tests. Attendance is mandatory, gives pop quizzes.
I enjoyed this class. Dr Torto is not American and so some students complain about her accent without putting in the effort to listen well. She provides very good lecture notes and is always ready to assist students. She uses everyday examples to make the course interesting when necessary. I will take her class if she teaches 2086.
After 2 1/2 years of many different professor, she is by far the WORST. Her accent is difficult if you are not use to people with accents. Her lectures are are crap and pointless because you'll actually do better if you just read the text. Also DON'T bother asking her a question,8/10 times it wont be answered after some long explanation
I enjoyed this class. Even without buying the textbook, you can get a good grade because Dr Torto provides you with good slides on lecture notes. She is not American and so pronounces things differently but if you listen well, you will be OK. She is also always ready to assist students if they are ready to learn.
I enjoyed this class. Dr Torto posted very good slides prior to class which helped a lot. Some students find it difficult to adjust to an instructor who is not Americam and so complain. She pays special attention to weak students & tries to get everyone in class involved.Shes always ready to assist individual. She is friendly and easy to approach
She is a good person, but a horrible teacher. Most of the time I felt I was wasting my time being there. She reads right from the lectures, that you get ahead of time, and if you asked a question she rarely answered it.For the lab we never did the extra stuff and she didn't take time to explain the models. It was like going to open lab for self study.
Her accent is not the problem, she is a good person, but not meant to be a teacher.About 90% of time she would not answer or clarify a question I had. Also she was useless in lab,she wouldn't tell us what a model was, like the ones that where not easily recognized. I also felt coming to class every night was a waste of time.
Horrible teacher. Some people say its because of accent, -.- *sigh* its a small part of problem but not that big of deal. You'll just have to put in more effort in learning the material to know what she is talking about. She is a nice person but her overall teaching methods are enough to make you feel like its a waste of time to go to class.
I'm glad that I registered for this class. Dr. Torto was very helpful in making us understand the material. She gets every student involved. She tries to help weak students do better. She goes to each bench during labs to make sure that students understand the labs. Attend lecture and lab, pay attention, study lecture notes and you'll do well.
DR.Torto is a very nice teacher. She made the class easy because she provided powerpoint notes for each lecture and gave a study guide also for exams. She tries to get students involved in both lab and lecture. During lab she constantly asks students questions to see their level of involvement. I would take her for 2086
I enjoyed this class. Dr torto provided lecture notes which made it easy to follow the class. She was also always ready to assist students. If you take the class serious and not wait until the last minute to study, you will do very well.Even without buying the text book, you can pass all exams, including the final departmental exam.
This class is very interesting. Most of the students in this class have absolutely no knowledge of Biology. Dr Torto gets you very involved and very interested in the subject. She relates the topics to many things around us which makes it very interesting. She is also always ready to guide you and help you understand.
Anatomy is hard, but Dr Torto goes above and beyond to help her students. She provides lecture notes which you can use even if you do not have the text book. Don't miss class and labs and make use of her lecture notes. Ask questions. Dr Torto is very helpful and likes to call on you so helps you prepare. I recommend her classes.
I enjoyed my A & P class with Dr. Torto. It is a fairly difficult subject but Dr. Torto helped make it interesting. She provided us with lecture notes and although I didn?t buy a textbook, I still did very well (getting a B+). Print the lecture notes and take to class so you can write in explanations she gives in class. Dr. Torto likes to call
I did very well in this class, thanks to Dr Torto. She makes an otherwise difficult subject interesting and wants to make sure you understand. She provides lectures notes which help a lot. She is also very helpful to all students and wtakes time out to make you understand. I will take her for 2086 anytime.
this teacher you can't understand she has the strongest I believe to be french accent you will ever find. I found it impossible to learn anything and she wouldn't help at all. I have never withdrawn from a class but because of her I had to. I am very disappointed that Santa Fe College would hire someone like this.
I'm currently taking A&P I and although semester is'nt over, I believe I'll end up with a B+ or A if I stay focused and maintain current grades. Dr Torto's a very good and helpful instructor who involves the class by calling on you.She provides lecture notes and is easy to approach. Will take her class if she'll teach A&P II.
A & P is difficult but Dr Torto makes it fun and uses simple everyday stuff to relate to material. She is very interested in helping students who are trying hard. She never misses any class. I would highly recommend her. Would take her for A&P II if she teaches it.
Dr Torto was great. A little hard to understand at first but I had no problems after a week. Shes very enthusiastic and gives -great- study guides. Labs were fun. Test and lab questions are easily anticipated and if you really put some time in an A is easily achieved. Find a study partner or two early on. Would definitely like to have her for A&P2
I took Dr. Torto for A&P1 and it was absolutely horrible. She treats you like a child and will call you out in class and embarrass you. She reads off of powerpoint slides all class and you can barely understand her accent. She bugs you the whole time you are in the lab and you can never get your work done in time. take someone else if you can.
Taking her this summer. She has never taught a 6 week class and it is evident. She is very disorganized (frustrating) she seems to constantly be scrambling. Doing her study guides are useless (they tell you to study every slide.) Only people in my class with an A have all ready taken A&P
Very Helpful if you ask. Will stay to help students. Quite prepared. Speaks fast in lecture and knows her subject. Has an accent, but is very understandable. If you pay attention in class you can do quite well. Provides powerpoint notes online and goes over them in class with details. Tests require studying but most of it will come from powerpoint.
I took Dr. Torto for A&P1 Spring 2010 & LOVED HER! She does have an accent but easy to understand if you pay attention!! Come to class & lab, put effort into it, ask her questions, email her often & you will do well. When she says do online quizzes she means it! The effort you put in is the grade you will get. I'd take her again for A&P2!
I absolutely hated this class. Torto is very hard to understand and she reads through powerpoint slides super fast, without actually teaching. She likes to pick on students..Tests were hard, with no curves and not one dropped test grade. The only people who did well were the people who worked in the lab or already knew the material (about 5 people)
I absolutely hated this class. Torto is very hard to understand and she reads through powerpoint slides super fast, without actually teaching. She likes to pick on students..Tests were hard, with no curves and not one dropped test grade. The only people who did well were the people who worked in the lab or already knew the material (about 5 people)
Torto for many is hard to understand, but if you pay attention she can be understood. She soes a great job preparing you for the test by way of to lecture notes that she provides. This is a HARD subject, so you have to study a lot. The test are not the easiest, but again if you study you should do well. I would personally give her a B+
I took Rita Torto for Anatomy 1 and it was pretty rough. She's very nice and wants to help. She does have an accent that makes you have to actually sit and concentrate on what she is saying. Puts all lectures online and follows then as a VERY fast pace. She was hard, in my opinion but grades ranged all over. I wont be taking her for Anatomy 2
Professor Torto is a good professor, you must be in class and you must devote time to studying. Tests are very hard! Does have an accent but you can understand after a few classes. She is willing to help if you are having a hard time. I would recommend BUT you must be very self motivated to study. no curve, no dropped tests. Must do all labs.
So, here's the deal. Torto means well, but she just can't teach. She's EXTREMELY hard to understand. The exams are RIDICULOUS. I received a D-, but I'm not ranting cause of that I'm being honest take a different professor. I heard Hand is good
2086 is more difficult than 2085. A lot of physiology but prof Torto is very interested in making sure the student understands and uses examples which makes it interesting. She provides lecture notes and study guides and will go over something if you dont understand. I highly recommend her.
Took Prof Torto both for 2085 and 2086. I will take her anytime. 2086 is a lot of physiology and so if you are not well prepared in 2085, will find it difficult. She doesn't scale but she allows you the opportunity to drop your lowest grade by taking a make-up exam. She expects student participation so will ask students questions. A good teacher
Her accent is near impossible to understand and her tests are VERY difficult.
so happy. If you do well in Dr. Torto's class and exams, you also do very well in the final exam set by the department. She challenges you in class but if you are ready to work hard, will do well. I understand 2086 is a lot of physiology and so difficult and so I,m happy I had Dr T in 2085. Will take her for 2086 if her schedule fits mine.
Good teacher. Take her if you can. Interested in you doing well. Provides lecture slides and explains in class. Always encouraging and ready to help.
She provides study guides and is very nice. I don't understand how someone could get lower than a B in her class. I got an A in BSC2085 & 86 without breaking too much of a sweat
By far the worse professor ever. I believe she could probably be a very good teacher but her way of teaching is awful. You can't understand her and she talks very fast. Does not respond to emails and does not care to give extra help when needed. I most deffiantly won't be taking her next semester. Very very very unorganized!
She is an amazing teacher, she is to the grain! If you dont care to study then you WILL fail! Her test are directly from her power points and run parallel to the final exam study guide. Would take her again if I needed to!!
Awesome professor. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Very tough class, but if you put in the effort you'll be fine. I got an A while taking nutrition and developmental psychology. Reading the book is probably not necessary with the study guides she gives you, but it will help. I read every chapter and glad I did. I would highly suggest DR. Torto.
I would not recommend this teacher to future students. Repetively, she said that she didn't have time to meet with her students for very long outside of class and she seemed in a rush to get the material presented blaming the compressed semester for her haste. She's very intelligent of Anatomy but presents everything from a PPoint at her computer.
The teacher seemes overwhelmed with her workload affecting her performance as an instructor VERY negatively. Didn't check many assignments in lab for correctness. Helped some students but not others. Always rushing out of class limiting time to ask questions or clarify information. Seems very unorganized with her course.
Awful, I taught my self the entire class. She is a nice and smart woman, but very bad at teaching the material. I wouldn't take a class she taught again.
not a very good teacher at all!! very hard to understand when talks, and instead of going from point A to point B, she is all over the place! Tried to set up times to meet with her for extra help, and once a time and date has been set up a few days later she cancels.
I took this class online and the labs and assignments were easy and I got A's on all of them, but did bad on the tests which are the biggest portion of your grade. I would NEVER take her class ever again or EVER recommend her. Not helpful. All over the place. Not sure relaly what to study for tests. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
DR TORTO is a great teacher. You get lecture slides & she explains in class. Some students want high grades without working hard. Dont take a 6 wk A&P class if u are disorganised. Will take her for 2086. Take my advice. She knows her stuff. & wants to make sure u learn n do well . Checks labs. My friends in other labs had no labs checked.
Ms. Torto was amazing. I took her Nutriton class over summer and learned so much! Her lecture notes/homework assigned were literally her tests. She was very well versed and hilarious, I really enjoyed her class.
ONE OF THE WORST TEACHERS I HAVE EVER HAD. YOU CAN NOT UNDERSTAND HER AT ALL AND WILL NOT PASS THE CLASS.
By far the WORST teacher I have had in all my years of education. She lacks anny ability to teach at all, does not go by the book assigned (instead teaches from her own notes and books from another class at Santa Fe) and has a complete lack of ability to answer questions. I would be happy to never have her again.
Not interested in helping you. Very hard to understand. I had to drop the class along with half the class. Tests have nothing to do with the study guides. I would never recommend her to anyone needing to take this class.
Dr Torto is one of the most helpful instructors I know. made A&P interesting, using examples to make a difficult subject fascinating. Not every student can take A&P. It is a difficult subject. You have to be ready to spend time learning. I will recommend Dr Torto anytime.
This course is a difficult course but I was happy I selected Prof Torto as my instructor. It's a lot of information and you have to work hard but thats A&P for you. Prof Torto even checks the labs to make sure you are answering questions correctly which some of my friends in other classes didn't have done. She prepares you well and knows her stuff.
In many years at sfc, i have never witnessed an instructor checking scantrons by hand in front of he students and interacting with students at the same time! No wonder there were always students always had to point out correct answers that have been checked wrong. Disorganized, exposing grades, favoured other students, always in a hurry, late
I enjoyed this class. My final is tomorrow and I hope to get an A or B+. Prof. Torto makes a difficult class interesting. Don't register for class if you want to chill. She gives quizzes and homework so we don't relax until exams. She even checks our lab manual to make sure lab is done correctly. She is extremely helpful.I recommend her 100%
This class is not an easy A.Torto is there to help you if you're willing to put in the time and effort.Torto is very knowledgeable about this subject and any questions you may have she's willing to answer and break it down for you.Exams are practically like the HW,beware of the pop quizzes,in the end your grade will depend on them-No pool Parties!
SHE DOESN'T TEACH!You have to learn from as she puts it "different sources" and come to class ready. She is very knowledgeable but will only help you if you ask.Her lessons scatter random information so its hard to take notes. You will not get an A if that what you want in this class.
She talks so fast and tries to cram all kinds of information in such a short period, and then runs out of class. Tried to get help from her and she just told to me go to the internet and research other schools that have information and quizzes online. She would come to our table and check labs, but failed to write down those that were present.
WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD! Dr Torto is NOT an easy teacher, but she shouldn't be, A&P is NOT and EASY course!! If you are taking this class in preparation for a career in Health Services, then you should be ready to take a class like this seriously and WORK! Dr Torto is an EXCELLENT teacher and if very encouraging. EARN YOUR GRADE, DON'T EXPECT IT!
STUDY HER NOTES! The majority of her exams are included in the study guide(use notes & do in depth)or something she said during class/lab. She gives 5-6 exams, but it's easier than just having three big exams since you have less to study. She is hard to understand but you get used to her accent. DO/STUDY HOMEWORK!If you work hard, you'll do well.
I am so glad I took Dr Torto's class after recommendation from a friend and boy, am I glad. She was excellent. I'm amazed at her level of AP knowledge. She makes sure you work hard and is ever ready to assist. I'm surely going to take her for A and P 2 and hope I'm able to get in her class. Take her if you get the chance.
Dr. Torto is very hard to understand. She calls on you out of the blue to answer questions. I had a very bad experience with her, and I would not recommend her class. She felt like it was okay to ridicule her students in front of their peers. I didn't think she was very professional. Find a different teacher.
Dr Torto is a fantastic teacher. I learnt so much in her class that I wish I had taken her for A&PI. If you can take her for both sessions, take her. She makes sure you learn something. I had friends in other classes who were only learning surface material. You won't regret it. Just be ready to work. Take the class serious and you will do well.
I love Prof. Torto! She is very, very helpful. Quizzes are given in class and lab which helps prepare for exam and makes you not slack. She provides helpful powerpoints and study guides.Took her for intensive summer A. Still got an A because of her helpfulness. Wanted to take her for A&P II in summer B but she was taking time off. RECCOMMEND HER!!!
Dr. Torto is a great, knowledgable professor who really teaches you to understand and enjoy A&P. Her knowledge is amazing and she is always ready to help. You have to be ready to work though because it is a tough subject but do all assignments and ask for help when you need it. I highly recommend her.
I've taken Dr. Torto twice now. She's one of the teachers I've come to respect the most because she speaks anatomy like her it's her first language. Anatomy is a VERY difficult class, regardless of your professor. Come prepared, STUDY and ask questions. You will do fine!
Extremely hard to understand. Does not seem to care about students. Talks to students as if they are the most stupid people on the planet.
Excellent Professor. She gets you through the course. Difficult class and so if you expect to chill and not attend class, that wont work for A&P. Likes to get everyone involved. I know I am getting A or B+ and all thanks to Dr Torto. If you can take her class, then do so. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. i AM TAKING HER FOR a&p ii
Enjoyed class. My sister and some friends had Dr Torto for A&P I, II or both and recommended her. She made a difficult A&P class interesting. There is a lot of information for this class but she makes sure you keep up in various ways. You get homework , quizzes and she asks questions in class. She uses everyday examples. Taking her for A&P II
Amazing prof. Enjoyed her class. Always ready to help. Gives quizzes so gets you prepared. Even tried to get impolite and not serious students to participate. Tough class but hey, it's A and P. Have registered for her A and P II in spring semester. Take prof Torto and you will enjoy the class and learn a lot.
I would not take this teacher again. While she is very intelligent, her tests are not very clear. They are either usually very detailed or consist of questions we have not went over. Her lectures consist of about 80 slide PowerPoints per each topic, so you're usually uncertain of what exactly to study about. Good teacher, but tests are unclear.
I took this class a semester after taking BSC2085 and if you aren't completely fresh with the material I would not recommend taking her. Tests are over 40% of the grade, while quizzes, hw, and group projects are only worth 1.5-2% of grades. I would recommend her if you want a challenge or are good at studying. Plus she has a thick accent.
she will not give you a straight answer she runs around the block and then you still have no idea what the answer to your question is. She literally uses google to answer your questions, and if you need tips for studying no lie she will tell you to look up questions online! I passed and I wouldn't recommend her.
she loves to pick out people to answer questions if you're an introvert she may not be the best for you. I hate when teachers do that but thats me, also exams 48% of your grade while hw & quizzes 1.5%????? she expects you to be on her level, she doesn't teach she reads power points, lecture is a waste I can read those at home!! Horrible teacher
Took intensive summer A class. Was worried about the short time for the course. Dr Torto was very helpful. Made a difficult subject fun and interesting. I am glad a friend suggested her. I am definitely getting an A or B+. Take her class if you get the opportunity. You will not regret it. Amazing class. Amazing professor.
Love, love, love Prof Torto. Just took my final for summer A and I'm sure I did well. She knows A&P very well and always ready to assist students. Enjoyed class. She gives homework and you get many questions which helps you understand A&P more. She gives good feedback and and likes student participation. Definitely taking her for A&P II.
Prof Torto saved me. I had a lousy instructor for A&P I at Santa Fe. Made me doubt myself. Prof Torto made A&P II very interesting that I was so glad I registered for her class. It was a tough class but she made it exciting. I will take her again in a heart beat. Register for her classes if you get the opportunity.
A&P is difficult no matter the professor, devote time(critical) and work. She is intelligent. She know who is giving effort/who has studied or not. If you want to become a Health Professional you really need to understand this course inside and out(no pun intended). She is capable of making you an expert&You will use/see everything in course again.
I just completed my A&P I class with Prof. Torto and wish she were teaching A&P II in the spring. She is a great teacher. If you want an easy class, then you should not be taking A&P at all. Not an easy class but she made it fun with group activities . She is always ready to help students do better even with rude students. Take her if you can.
Professor Torto is a great teacher. She knows the material so well and is always ready to help you outside of class. She just doesnt give free points. She wants you to understand the body and uses many examples. I am currently in her class and will take her for A&P II. A & P is not easy but she makes it fun . Quizzes and activities in class.
She WILL get upset with you if you don't already know the ENTIRE chapter walking into class. Our first day she gave us a quiz on the chemical make up of the human body for a grade in which she was asking why we don't already know this. Only help she offers are the power points online which don't go anywhere near the depth you need to succeed.
She's a good teacher. She has an accent but you get used to it. She is very helpful. She answers questions and tries her best to make sure everyone understands what's going on. Assigns homework often which helps you to study and learn the material. She gives pop quizzes. She is a caring and fun teacher to have in my opinion.
Poor time management. Expects you to know A LOT of material from the start and expects you to remember everything. Lots of long homework assignments. Poor planning will equate to rushed assignments and exams near the end of the semester. Slow to post grades. Nice person, but not a good professor.
not very clear on things, seems very spastic, unorganized, doesn't seem like she understands questions students are asking and gives completely irrelevant answers. would not recommend her.
Only class/prof I've ever had problems with. Highly disorganized. Lectures frequently contain incorrect information. Didn't grade several assignments I and other students submitted. No feedback. Book and lectures combined don't have enough info to get you higher than a low B on most exams. Posted exam due for the next day on more than one occasion.
She is actually a sweet professor and just like any other online class you have to earn your grade. She's not great a responding and post grades but she does try to help where she can. If the class was more organized it would be great. The test were pretty straight forward as well.
Does not answer questions from students. Pop quizzes almost every class. Wants Very specific answers on tests. She has a lot of wrong information in her powerpoints. She thinks her answers are always correct even with evidence that they are wrong. She puts homework up and does not tell any one about it. She is very unorganized.
She has a heavy accent that is very hard to get used to. Quizzes are basically impossible, and she does not tell you when they are so you fail all of them. She just reads off slides and does not answer any questions. She lectures in lab so we can never look at models to prepare for lab exams. 60 hours of exam studying for a C average. DO NOT TAKE.
Dr. Torto is a very nice woman and I know she means well. She is very easy to talk to but she is very unorganized and not very clear about what she wants us to know before exams. She throws pop quizzes and I'm pretty sure the class average is less than 60% on quizzes. She has a strong accent too and it is very hard to keep up with during lecture.
Accent is VERY hard to get used to. There are random quizzes that are impossible to pass. She's not good at explaining things. Only reads off power point. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
I wish Dr Torto would teach 2086 next semester. When you leave her class you know you have learnt something. She just doesn't teach you surface material so you pass but that you understand the subject and actually enjoy it. I would take her again anytime.
On a personal level, Dr. Torto is a nice person who wants to see her students succeed. Whether her powerpoint lecture-heavy teaching style is right for you is your call. Caution: DO NOT take this class as a once a week 3 hour night class. You'll sleep! Out of 35-ish students, we were down to 13 by Drop and half those got a C,D, or F. Beware!!!!
Prof Torto gives good and timely feedback. If you want an easy pass without doing anything and coming out not knowing much, then she is not for you. i learnt a lot in this class. She gives assignments on every chapter and quizzes so you do not slack until time for exams. She works with you if you need help. I am extremely glad i took her class
This is my first class with Prof Torto and I recommend her. We had class presentations and that was cool. Very interesting topics!! My diet analyses opened my eyes to what I need to cut down in my diet. She grades assignments very quickly. I plan on taking for online A&P this summer. My friend took her online A&P last summer and did very well
I am extremely happy that I took this class. I'm currently have an A in the class and all I have left to take is the final. If you attend class and pay attention to the lectures and do the homework before the quizzes, you will be fine. Do not fall behind! I would recommend taking it for summer B to get it over with. Everyone in my class did well.
Dr. Torto teaches a very straightforward class. Book is not required. Show up, study the slides (especially the colored words), homework, and quizzes for the tests and you will get an A. She likes class participation and has a pretty interactive classroom. I would take her classes again.
She is nice, until you ask her a question in class or on canvas, Don't expect a reply. She has a very heavy accent that is difficult to understand and goes by her own schedule, doesn't care about individuals. Demands participation and then ignores students questions. You never know what's on the test, she changes material few days before the exam.
She literally reads straight off the power point and focuses on topics that are not related to nutrition she will often times discuss A&P topics. Does not answer questions clearly, won't respond to canvas messages, gives pop quizzes, assigns hw at the end of class. She also speaks very rudely to us students in my opinion. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HER
I hate to be tough on this professor because I like her on a personal level ALOT but this class is no joke. Her lectures are boring, but she give pop assignments. The only advice I can give is study, study, study when taking her course because her test are not easy.
She's a nice person, but she is very unorganized. She's also very strict. It's not impossible to get an A in her class, but I found that I had to teach myself a lot of the material - and I JUST scraped by with an A by reading the textbook and taking my own notes. I wouldn't suggest taking her if you are someone that needs to be taught to learn.
She curves half the class that isnt doing well. She doesnt believe in giving As and is hard on the people that try hard and gives free points to people that come with excuses.
Professor Torto is a great choice. Great personality. Accent is understandable. Don't get me wrong, A & P is not an easy class and I wouldn't recommend anyone take it who is not a health science major. Be prepared to spend a lot of time studying due to the amount of material! Study the powerpoints and canvas HW/quizzes and you will pass no problem.
If you're good at self-teaching then take this class with Professor Torto, if not be prepared to fail. Most of my classmates are not passing. She has a thick accent that is difficult to understand. She does not teach, she reads off her powerpoints and then goes off on tangents that do not relate to the topic.
This is not the professor I would reccomend if you plan to get an A or understand the material. She speaks very fast with a thick accent. She has "extra credit" for showing up, but they turn out to actually be pop quizzes in the grade book. If you do not e-mail her the first day of an assignment, forget about asking questions. Very nice though.
I am at risk of failing this class, but I must be honest this professor has given me all the information that I needed to be successful in this class. I have a full time job and I am a parent so that makes it harder for me to study. She is very knowledgeable and is more than willing to explain. This class takes a lot of studying.
So I definitely wouldn't say this is n easy class, but I honestly wouldn't say it's from front he professor. It is the course. The only complaint is her accent can be a little hard to understand but not to the point where you wont pass. This is far from an easy A.
Dr. Torto is really awesome. She really does care about her students and she explains things to make them seem simple. She really knows what she's talking about. This class was not easy, but it was really enjoyable and one of my favorite classes.
Gets on you about turning in stuff "last minute". SO MANY THINGS TO MEMORIZE. It has been one of the toughest classes I have taken. You really have to make time to study and remember names and functions of everything during each chapter. Some chapters are easier than others. Be sure to do ALL your work. Or else you'll fail.
This is a tough class overall. I am not in the medical field and knew nothing when I started this class- you must study. The class was very interesting & beneficial; however, this prof is awful. Changes rules mid assignments, poor condescending communication, and locks assignments so you cannot study them. And do not bother asking her a question.
Her class is poorly organized. Her accent is incredibly hard to understand and she rambles to the point that you don't have time to ask questions.
Dr. Torto is disrespectful to her students. She makes you feel stupid for not knowing the answer to a question she asks in class. Her accent is incredibly hard to understand and she rambles. If you ask her a simple question she will ramble about the topic to the point you lose your concentration and don't even remember what you asked.
I'm doing well in this class but I have no idea how, I feel like I haven't retained any information. Torto seems like she doesn't understand what students are asking half of the time and then replies condescendingly when you try to explain what you were asking, AFTER she's given you an irrelevant, long winded answer. FRUSTRATING - teach yourself.
She only uses the slides she has on her canvas and thats all she goes over. She also expects you to know everything as she reads them. The only reason i even bother going to class (i learn more out of class then in) is because she give random quizzes sometimes. To sum this up, the only reason i am passing is because i study hard on my own time.
Dr Torto makes a difficult course fun and easy to follow. You learn a lot and my grade so far is an "A". If you do not want to learn, then dob't enroll for class. Students who want an easy ride complain but I have learnt so much in this class that I will register for her 2086 class next semester. Register for her class. You will learn a lot.
I would take Prof. Torto anytime. Some students complain about lots of home work but how else do they prepare for exams? I prefer that to professors who hardly give any homework. We do lots of group work and work sheets which add to our total points. If you are in the habit of skipping many classes, you will miss some important activities.
Prof. Torto was the excellent choice for me. She made a difficult class interesting and fun. I learnt a lot of stuff that some of my friends in some classes seem not to know. I plan on taking her for 2086 and for nutrition which she also teaches. She is very helpful if you require extra explanation. Many group work and worksheets which help
LOTS of out of class studying- & finished w an 88 in the class. She reads/rambles slides from canvas. GO TO CLASS-class activities and POP QUIZES that you're not able to make up afterwards. Check canvas for assignments regularly. Practice problems from links she has up helped. She is hard to understand-nice though & extra credit is optional DO IT!!
Hard professor but you will learn A&P. She can seem strict at first, but can be willing to work with you if you talk to her.
The accent is hard to understand. rude.
Shes alright... kind of hard to understand, talks really fast and rambles through her power points and switches topics a lot so it can be hard to learn what shes actually teaching. She does give alot of little assignments that are a life saver, but also alot of pop quizzes (like every other class meeting).. would not recommend though
At this point In the semester, Im on my 3rd week of classes and shes very hard to understand. She jumps from topic to topic and that alone makes it hard for me to learn what shes teaching.
Easy class if you are competent and disciplined enough to study for a class. Anatomy and physiology is going to be basic, brute memorization. Not very difficult. Study on your own and you'll be fine. Stop complaining and also realize most of these reviews are very polarized, meaning these are all people who didn't put in the effort. Nice woman.
She is not a bad teacher like everyone says she is. The people that say she sucks are usually incompetent fools that don't bother to put any effort at home. You have to study for anatomy it's a memorization class brah. I find her pretty funny and she actually cares about your performance in her class. If you get below a B, rethink your life.
Like any other class, you need to devote time to going over lecture notes and memorize the information given. The lab portion is very manageable. Exams and quizzes are fair. Very good professor, Dr. Torto knows exactly what she is teaching and articulates herself well in class. Don't listen to the people who complain because they don't study...
She can be very sassy and rude. Will over talk you and go all around your question at times. Goes really fast through her power points. Can be forgetful and gets irritable easily. Pop quizzes based on the questions she ask about the power-points which are available the day before class (not all the time). Expects you to know every single thing
Can be hard to understand at times, goes off on tangents during lecture. Be prepared to be called on randomly. You are expected to arrive to class ready to be quizzed on huge amounts of material that is posted at 11 pm the night before class which causes some sleep deprived nights. However, she accommodates to students' schedules which is nice.
I am not sure why people dislike her so much because I think shes a real sweetheart. Shes so cute! The class is hard, and I think thats primarily why people have a problem with her. The class difficulty has nothing to do with the professor. If you work hard and study, you will get an A. I actually enjoy her lectures, her accent isnt bad
This professor has a lot of knowledge and is very intelligent. Her accent is not the issue. Unfortunately, she is not effective at explaining things. Often times, we rush through powerpoint and most of the class taught themselves. She is also extremely rude. (1/3)
On multiple occasions, she would call out people and yell at them or reprimand them in front of the class. She is not understanding at all either. She expects everyone to be perfect, when she herself is quite unorganized. There are also many typos and errors in her quizzes and homework assignments, which was frustrating especially when she (2/3)
would be so rude to anyone who made even the slightest mistake. Pop quizzes on material that has not even been taught happens frequently as well. Do not take this teacher if you can avoid it. Anyone would be better than her. (3/3)
Great professor. She makes the class fun but you still learn a lot. I learnt a lot on what foods are good for you. She is very inspiring and pushes you to do better. She gives many in class activities which made the studying the subject easy. I will take her for A and P.
could not tolerate her rudeness and disorganization even as someone who puts in effort to study and I've only made As at Santa Fe. A&P II is supposed to be hard but her class structure is ridiculous and not compatible with me. missed assignments due to bad communication. unclear about assignments. she is, however, very knowledgeable about anatomy.
She teaches decently and you think you're doing good and you know what's going on but then the questions on the homeworks and tests are not in the notes at all. You could be able to recite the notes and everything she says in class but you would still have to teach yourself things on the homework. Then hope the tests has information you know.
I had her for two semesters in a row, probably the worst mistake of my life. Shes rude, will call you out in front of the whole class for no reason, and just outright loves to hear herself talk. Avoid this professor at all costs.
A&P 2 is difficult enough but she makes it more so. Study before class, randomly calls on people and gets upset if you don't know the answer and will threaten class with quizzes. Her accent is no problem but its rough to comprehend when she does explanations. If you are looking for a chill teacher, she is not what you want. Sends really late emails
Not the best professor to take for A&P. Makes the subject very difficult and does not address what will be on the test during lectures. This class requires referring to many outside resources to learn the material.
Prof. Torto is a very dedicated professor. Her lectures are fun and you learn a lot about good nutrition. Prof Torto was available through zoom meetings when the college closed due to the coronavirus. She also posted extra comments to accompany the lecture notes to help students who could not get online. She is always available for students.
Do not do it. I mean it. This is the hardest class Ive ever taken in my life. Every day she will begin lecture by calling on RANDOM PEOPLE to give her information about previous chapters as well as future chapters. If you dont know she will stare at you. If you skip class youre screwed. I thought I could do it despite bad reviews but I was WRONG
I loved Prof. Toros classes. You should not register for A&P II if you don't want to work hard. I enjoyed the class because she reminded us of topics in A and P I that we were building upon in 2086. She gives feedback and available to students after class. She gives homework and quizzes to prepare for exams. I plan to take her for Nutrition
Very interesting class. I started watching what I ate, Make sure you read all posted info. Very important. Dr Torto provided all info on lecture notes needed for exams. Many class activities so if you miss class a lot, you miss those points. She gave us chance to make up missed assignments. She likes students to read over posted notes before clas
Dr Torto was the best. She was available when the college shut down and had extra comments for the lecture notes that without even attending her zoom classes, I was able to pass and pass very well. I recommend taking her. She also has various activities that contribute to your grade. You will learn a lot and enjoy the class.
I would not recommend this professor to anyone, I usually love anatomy but her class quickly became my least favorite. I didn't find her lectures very helpful at all, I had to find a lot of the information I needed for assignments and exams outside of class and learn on my own. This was honestly the worst class I have ever taken.
I would definitely take Prof. Torto again. Lecture notes and class discussion provided enough information for exams. Any student who says something different is not truthful. She gives quizzes and homework that help with exams. 2086 is more difficult and you have to work harder than you did for 2085. She is always ready to help students.
Prof Torto made the class very interesting. I wish I had taken her for 2085 because I did not learn some things which her former students knew. She was available outside class to meet. She knows the subject and her lecture notes provide all the information for exams. Also, make sure you go through homework and quizzes before exams.
Very informative teacher and genuinely cares about your wellbeing. She is not a really harsh grader. Each test, including the final, had several bonus questions at the end the give potential credit for any you have missed. All in all decent class with a great teacher.
Very lecture heavy, and often times hard to understand. Uses lectures as a time to discuss anecdotes related to the material, rather than explaining it.
Prof. Torto was unorganized, the material was mislabeled and everywhere on Canvas, and it did not match the textbook or her lecture notes. When I asked for help MANY times she belittled me, was disrespectful, and just kept saying look at the lecture notes. I had to use outside sources until I eventually withdrew from the stress.
To pass the class, I completely ignored her class and just read the textbook myself. She is rude towards people who are incompetent in learning the material. And even though I was passing her class, I kept getting her questions wrong for some reason, making me a target for her asking "random students" questions.
Took her for Spring 2021. She is very disorganized and puts assignments into Canvas last minute--so forget about planing ahead (because her syllabus doesn't exactly line up). The only way to get through her class is attending every lecture. Even then, a lot of people in my class are struggling and she is hard to reach.
Professor Torto is awesome. She gives every tool you need to succeed, genuinely cares that her students and wants you to get a good grade. You have to read the material, do the homework and study. There is a lot of information and it is best to do the reading before class. Anyone who gives Torto a poor rating simply didn't work hard enough.
Do not take this class online, you're basically paying to read a free textbook and have access to her office hours. The material is not hard to learn but you'll definitely need guidance, as it can get very confusing without it.
Extremely rude and unhelpful. I've never had any problem with a professor being unwilling to help until now. I nicely asked questions through email and only get back short, rude remarks. I was originally excited to take this course, but now regret taking it!
The worst class I've ever taken. Beware taking online if you need to take online classes only bc it is required to take exams in person, not very convenient for those of us who work full time. Rita Torto is condescending and disorganized. Grades late and constantly changes due dates. Have to use outside sources for HW bc answers aren't in the text.
Organization is not her strength. Her online class was all over the place, homework listed under quizzes, the syllabus listed under modules (even though there was a syllabus tab). I asked her for clarification on some items and she was extremely rude. I ended up just reading through the textbook and using a tutor for the class.
Rita is very condescending and disrespectful for absolutely no reason at all. She receives a lot of phone calls from home during her lectures so thats probably why she always has an attitude. She is very unapproachable. Ifyou have a problem youll be better off reaching out to her head of department because she wont be able to take accountability
Don't take this class online. She's rude over email and isn't very considerate of her students. She is one of those professors that doesn't test for knowledge of the content, but for the time it takes you to complete a quiz or exam. Knowing the content of an exam doesn't matter if you don't have enough time to finish it. She sets you up to fail.
Mrs. Rita really does care about her student's passing but only if she can see you putting in the work. She gives study guides for tests and makes you answer questions in class. She does like to give pop quizzes and talks really fast so you'll have to teach yourself things you miss.
Prof Torto made this a very interesting course and fun to learn. She was always ready to help and met with me through zoom meetings at times outside of office hours. It is a lot of material (no joke) and you must be ready to work but prof. Torto will help you understand the material. Do the assignments and ask her for help if you need it.
I would take Prof Torto for class again. She is very understanding and pushes us to learn. I had friends in other classes who did not learn half what I learnt in this class. She provided us with supporting material that made difficult topics manageable. She was very encouraging. She gave us an opportunity for extra credit work.
Free online textbooks and lots of resources available to use ahead of time. Read the slides and do the lab work before she teaches the topic that day (print out the lab work for the whole year in the beginning of the course and store it in your folder). You have to remember everything, placements and functions so it's a lot. Confusing lectures.
Professor Torto is not responsive to emails. She takes a week to get back to you, if she responds, and her reply never fully answers your questions. Her online course is convoluted and not well organized. She doesn't appear to be particularly tech savy, so coupled with her lack of response it makes the course frustrating / needlessly difficult.
I took this class online because of work. Prof torto was accessible and worked with me when I could not attend regular office hours. She answered messages and was encouraging. This course is tough and so some encouragement went a long way. Her lecture notes gave all the necessary information. She has very helpful exam reviews before each exam
I had Prof Torto for A&P I and Nutrition. I'll take her in the summer for A&P II. I enjoyed her lectures. The notes were great. She provided us with other materials like practice question links. The course was online and she added extra notes herself. We did a diet project for Nutrition which made me aware of what I was eating. It was helpful.
Whatever you do dont take this professor online. She barely responds and post assignments last minute. She knowledgeable but she doesnt seem to care to help or answer questions. Also grades things after exams so you have no way of correcting yourself before hand to study. She genuinely made me want to drop the class
I took this online. Prof Torto was very helpful. She gave good feedback on assignments. She allowed us to make up late assignments. It is a difficult course but she met with me (zoom) even outside office hours. She answered my messages within 1-2 days and I know she did also for other students I discuss with. She has review sessions before exams.
I have been away from college for some time but Professor Torto eased me right back in. She was very encouraging and caring. I dropped the class before from another professor but Prof. Torto got me participating a lot in the class. With her help, I got an A and was accepted into my program. I'm very grateful to her for making me believe in myself.
One of the best professors I have had. Very encouraging. The work was a lot but that is A and P for you. She likes all students to participate in class and that brought me out of my shell. I tend to be silent in most classes. Very caring and personally helped me overcome my fears. I will take her anytime.
Yipee. I got a B+.Love Prof. Torto's classes. I took her for Nutrition and glad I did for A&P also. She is fantastic. She provided us with a lot of interesting supporting material. She takes a good interest in her students doing well even with rude students. Always ready to help. We got bonus exam questions & had exam rewiews. Highly recommend .
If you want a professor to get the best out of you & care about your success in her class then professor Torto is the one ! She is very knowledgeable & gives great lectures, I enjoyed my time in her class & I really appreciated how she believed in me she really gets the best out of her students! I highly recommend her.
Professor Torto is great! She cares about her students and the material and wants to help you learn it well. If you put in the work, this class is easily passable- go to class and lab, complete all assignments, and take advantage of the low grade re-do! She is very willing and available to help outside of class and makes her students a priority.
I wish I could have Professor Torto as a teacher again! She's kind, funny, and keeps the class engaged during lectures. There were lots of studying tools provided online and she does zoom reviews before tests. Take notes of what she says during lectures, it is helpful. She sets you up to succeed. Set aside time to study and you will do well.
She's an amazing professor who is able to work with you when you need it. Just make sure to always study because she does give pop quizzes sometimes. But overall shes really understanding and is avaliable during her office hours to answer any questions and clear things up.
With Prof Torto's help, I did well in this class beyond my expectations. My friend recommended her and I am glad I listened. She always responded to emails from me and my study group and so it is not true she does not answer emails. She met with me outside normal office hours. I learned a lot in her class. I recommend her for both 2085 and 2086.
I had Prof Torto last year for 2085 and will take her for 2086. She is amazing. You learn to appreciate the human body. A&P is a difficult class but she was encouraging, always ready to help. Your grade is not limited to only a few assignments which is good. You cannot register for A$P if you want to be lazy. Take her class if you want to learn.
prof Torto was my A and P I prof last year. I recommend her to my friends. You learn a lot in her class. She gives bonus questions in every exam. She is very helpful. Had meetings with her outside office hours. Very encouraging. Accommodated me when I had to work. Awesome.
This professor was probably one of the worst professors I have had simply because she does not communicate clearly at all. I don't believe that she is tech savvy which made her online course very hard to navigate through. Her powerpoints look like a last minute highschool anatomy project and expects us to know what she is talking about. Do not take
Prof Torto is a very helpful professor. The semester ends in a month but my grades have been in the A range, so unless I mess up on the finals, I'm confident I will get an A. She is available to meet with students at all times. She is easy to talk to. Her notes are easy to follow. She checks our assignments quickly and provides good feedback.
Professor Torto did not really teach much. The class mostly consisted of reading the notes and teaching yourself. I did appreciate the feedback she would leave on assignments, and the study guides she made.
I enjoyed Dr.Torto as my professor, but the assignments weren't clear on what specifically she wanted, resulting in a bad grade. I truly believe there may be a language barrier that makes the rubric difficult. It definitely isn't a deal breaker, but she should adjust her classes to be clear. I mainly used the lecture notes. Get a study buddy!
I took AP 1 and 2 online. She is extremely disorganized and unresponsive via email. I never knew what to expect in her exams because sometimes they were really easy and sometimes hard. She is a very picky grader. If you are willing to deal with that and possibly get an A if you study hard enough, then be my guest and take her.
Prof Torto was amazing. She made time to meet with me often late and over weekends. She has her course well planned and easy to go through. She reached out to me when I missed assignments. She's very caring and made allowances for me when my little children were sick. I did much better than I expected due to her not giving up on me. Take her class.
There is defintely a language barrier that makes it incredibly difficult to understand her typing sometimes. I had to reread her instructions 4-5 times because of the typos. She also provides no study guides for exams, and makes you convert everything to the metric system, even though that is not helpful for real use.
Prof Torto is amazing. I'm taking her online course and doing very well. She's always ready to meet and explain material. I was scared to take an online course but she has made it manageable and fun. I am recommending her to my friends for A&P 1 & 2. Her course is well planned with all lectures and assignments available at the start of semester.
Overall, workload and class material isn't too bad, but I am disappointed in Professor Torto's lack of effort as a professor and her attitude. She tends to be short with you via email, and she is a very tough grader! Her responses can be cold, and blunt, but in a harsh way. Workload is manageable though.
Probably one of the worst professors I've had so far. Work is manageable but some assignments were not clear on the grading criteria. I messaged her for clarification about an exam and was told to just look at the syllabus and was questioned if I was ready for the exam at all. The information I was looking for was not on the syllabus either.
Prof. Torto was one of the best Profs that I had. It was an online class but she was always available to meet outside the scheduled office hours. Her lecture notes and assignments were all posted at the beginning of the semester. So were her syllabus and the grading criteria. Do not believe students who do not want to work. You'll learn a lot.
Take this class with Prof Torto if she teaching it. You will learn a lot. I was frightened of taking A&P 2 online. My friends said it was a difficult subject. She made it interesting. She reached out when I was slowing down to encourage me. Assignments were posted weeks ahead of due date to give us time to complete them. I strongly recommend her.
She can come across as rather blunt at times, but still civil. Replies to emails quickly. A solid choice if you have a heavy course load. The course is taught via long, wordy PPTs (no audio/video). I ignored them, relying instead on Google/prior knowledge from other courses. Study HW/quizzes for exams. Not necessarily a hard class, just tedious.
This class is "okay" if you're taking a full load of courses. She is a VERY tough grader when it comes to case studies and discussions - she expects you to add a ton of information in your assignment. Focus on your quizzes/HW for exams, study guide didn't help me and is time consuming to look over. Hardly replied to emails. Do not suggest.
This class information and assignments were not hard, but study. However, dealing with this professor is rather the difficult part to deal with. She does has a passive aggressive tone when making comments and emailing.. condescending almost. A tough grader and makes up random reasons why you didn't receive full credit when you're 100% correct.
The lecture notes provided by prof Torto had all the information needed to pass this course well. She was always prompt with responses to messages that I sent. She provides good feedback. Assignments like case studies and discussions were graded with comments to let you know where you went wrong. I strongly recommend her class.
Torto is tough because she is non responsive. Do not expect any real personal guidance with case studies and projects. You will have to argue with her about being right at times on your assignments, and occasionally quizzes. DO study: quizzes, knowledge checks and discussions on the pptx, for the exams. Be ready to teach yourself HUN1201.
Dealing with passive-aggressive behavior from a professor can be tough, but it's important to stand up for yourself when you know you're right. I firmly believe that points were deducted from my work without a valid reason. In such cases, it's crucial to be self-reliant, and concentrate on class discussions, exams, and quizzes, and you will excel.
I was afraid to take this class online but Prof Torto made it easy. Each topic included lectures and supporting videos. She provided individual personalized comments on assignments. Case studies assigned were educative and required some thinking but Dr Torto guided and explained the requirements. She was available to meet in the evenings.
Prof Torto is an amazing professor. She made the class so interesting. Some workmates scared me off A and P but Prof Torto made me enjoy the class. She was always ready to meet with us individually if we needed help. Take her if you can. Unfortunately she is not teaching A&P 2. I wish she were so I can take her. She really helped me.
