I liked her too.
She has an interesting sense of humor. It kept me awake!
Shes hilarious, the only night class i actually want to come to!
Good teacher

If your intrested in learning and laughing take any class with her.
Awesome teaching style. She has a way of keeping the class interesting by relating the course material to real-life experiences. She'll make you laugh from the beginning of class to the end.
Apparently the Constitution ends at the school door!
Time to retire!
Very informative, tests are easy and very fair. Great class, loved going every day.
Way too PC!
I'd agree with the negative reviews. She seems a little dishonest where whatshe say in class dosn't always agree with the person she is. Seems strongly like a hypocrite.
Maintains a laid back learning environment while still impressing great deals of knowledge on the class. Dry humor and sarcasm abound, but her class was wonderfully fun. Only class I never skipped intentionally.
I am not sure what everyone is so impressed by. Way too old school for me.
Note: Most test ?s are from the text, not the lecture. Expect a harsh mid-term grade; it'll get better. Amusing lecture; prone to tangents.
I love her. We laugh all the time
funny as hell
I love this professor. Hard midterm but she gives extra credit. Expect to spend the class having fun.
She talks about her dog too much. I had her two years ago and i still remember its name, tippy.
Great teacher, keeps your attention. Tells you what she expects from test and if you study you will be fine.
Her summer courses is so easy!!! Only two tests for the 6 weeks and they are both multiple choice. She gives you 50 out of the 25 questions that will be on the tests. All it is, is memorization. You will def get a "A"!
felt like i was in high school for losers. gives you the answers. very little reading or thinking required. take her for an easy A, but i wanted to learn something
it is pointless to go to class b/c nothing that she rambles for the 3 hour class period is on the test she tends to go off subject too much and tries pretty hard to be funny but is not makes the class seem like an eternity
R-rated version of History....awesome
BASICALLY JUST GO TO CLASS FOR ATTENDANCE POINTS, BUT YOU REALLY NEED TO READ THE BOOK. ALL TESTS ARE MULTIPLE CHOICE W/ A REVIEW SHEET BEFOREHAND. MID TERM AND FINAL ARE ESSAYS...ALSO WITH A REVIEW. AN EASY A...ALSO GIVES A LOT OF EXTRA CREDIT. KINDA ENJOYED HER JOKES, TOO.
Really funny, interesting, although the classes and the quizes do not correlate
Awesome professor. I have had her two semesters now, and she's great. Really makes it hard to fail. Funny, too.
prof gomez's class lectures are a waste of time. her quiz prep sheets has NOTHING to do with what she talks about or anything we are required to read. i beleive i'm reading the wrong book. she IS a nice person, and funny at times, but that does nothing for my grade. choose another professor.
I had her for both history courses. I used to walk out of her course and not come back till the end. I did that a few times. Sometimes I never made it to her class. Just showed up for the finals and I still passed! You rock gomez!
Great teacher, funny, intelligent and a total smart ass. Can't imagine a better history teacher. Although, I think she loves her dogs a little too much.

I love her class she makes everything so much more interesting than they should be.
Fun professor. Enjoyable class, however the review sheets and tests have nothing to do with her lectures. Gave up on taking notes halfway through classes. Doesn't go over review sheets either.
Gomez is cooler than a rock star!
She is GREATTTTTT
awesome teacher
She is a great professor: Her lectures are halarious, and she will having you laughing every class. However, she also seriously knows her stuff. You learn a great deal each lecture because she has the uncanny ability of making it all sound interesting. All of her test questions come right from the book-so make sure you read it. She's late a lot, bu
hilarious teacher. easy class. didnt have to take notes EVER. just read the review sheet and find the answers in the textbook. attendance couted toward grade a lot though.
Gomez is kind of crazy and her lectures are really entertaining. You have to read the text though because that's what her quizzes are on. A fun teacher though.
Best teacher EVER! She is a lot of fun and gives you a lot of extra credit if you need it. She is probably the only teacher on campus with a REAL personality!
I love her and her class. Her personality is awesome which makes her class enjoyable. If you don't have a sense of humor you shouldn't take her class. You do need to take some notes, but most of the test is out of the book.
Well I got an A... but I didn't learn anything. Join the history club and you will pass.
You pretty much have to join the history club or do extra things for the history club to get an A. I did not like this teacher at all.
Mrs. Gomaz does not help at all. She gives review sheets and makes you find the answers to all the questions usually 50-100. She does not give answers. You have to find them on your own. And the answers are not in the textbook, lab or notes. Most of the time you basically have to guess on exams. Many people fail. Its too hard. You have been warned!
Ok...This is the best history class ever. Yes she gives you the prep sheets. do the prep sheets and you WILL pass the class. She will help you and answers question for you. She just wont do the prep sheets for you. She makes the class idiot prof. Show up for class, listen, do the prep sheet and you will get an A. She funny and nice.
i think she was wonderful and yhe answers WERE in the book you just had to look for them. it wasnt an easy class but it was definetly fun. everything related to sex and she made sex jokes the whole time.if you are still used to high school level studying, which means NONE then you wont pass but history club may give you a D if you are about to fail
Hard? Only if you're...illiterate. This class was funny, informative, and easy to learn from. I didn't always believe her presentation of facts, though.
I took her class about 8 years ago and I still remember a lot of what she taught us. Her lectures were hard to take notes on, but they were fascinating. If you're actually interested in history, I highly recommend this class. Her stories make it fun.
Pro. Gomez is such a great teacher! Her class is fun and entertaining, and I learned so much. She has a great personality and has a wonderful teaching method. Take this class!
AMAZING
Gomez was awesome. She's very funny and casual and tells the best stories. She knows her subject well too and gives tons of personal details about historical figures, making them easy to remember. And she makes it beyond easy to pass. I loved having her as a professor and I'm taking her class again this year.
Gomez makes History funny! Really enjoyed her class : )
I was very disappointed by Gomez. While test questions were given in advance, they were poorly written and hard to find in the text. The tests were primarily on topics not yet covered by the lecture. She skipped class, and did not even cover World War 2. While her class was entertaining, I didn't learn anything from it. A huge waste of time.
Extremely entertaining! If you are passionate about History, I would highly recommend you take this class! Gomez will keep your attention and her stories are relateable. I would take Western Civ 1 again if I could
she is the best! if you want a good laugh bring up the gomez child care system! shes the greatest and uber easy
Professor gomez will keep you awake. Highly recommend. If you do not get an A there is something wrong inside your head. She gives you the tests before taking them. All you need to do is take 3 hours to find the answers and your golden.
I have mixed reviews; Good: She gives study guides prior to exams, she is funny/laid back, and she gives extra credit opportunities that really help. Bad: Her tests are poorly worded, her lectures go wayyy off topic sometimes and I realize I would have learned more staying home and watching TV. Overall, I got an A but it wasn't the best class.
It is impossible not to pass Gomez's classes if you pay attention. Note taking in this class is best done w/ a laptop. She talks fast. Funny stories. LOTS of extra credit chances (5-10 pts for EVERY History Club meeting attended, max of 50). All you have to do is complete review sheets in order to pass. LOOK for answers they're not word-for-word.
She was AWFUL. She was funny but her lectures mostly involved Jesus and his BMW. The textbook taught me much more then she did, and i would never take another class with this professor again. Waste of money.
She was ridiculous in a good way. Never a dull moment.
Spent 3 weeks talking about Henry VIIIs wives and then gave a sheet with 50 ?s on it for the quiz. About 12 of them were from HIS 111. When I pointed this out to her she told me I was "out of mind and I need to learn how to read" so I withdrew. sorry Rita but I have no time for your crap. here's some advice stop collecting your paycheck and retire.
She obviously knows History and is passionate about the subject, but she has no business teaching. She goes off subject all the time. Her lectures are at least 2-3 weeks behind, so your quizzes are on material that has not yet been covered in class. She does give study guides before each quiz, which are helpful, but the questions are poorly writ
Very funny lady, never a dull moment! Only grades on quiz/tests- no HW, no projects, nothing! Sure 99% of the questions are not covered in class, but all you have to do is read the book! (Or scan it and use OCR software if you're really lazy) She even gives the answers prior to the test if you ask. If you dont pass her class you are not trying!
Very straight forward class. Just use your textbook to find the answers to the quizzes and tests, and you will be fine.
I am not good at history!! This class was all about reading and understanding the book on your own. Lecture was a waste of time because nothing from it was tested on. Only reason I went to class was because of sports. Easy class of you can comprehend the book.
Worst Teacher ive ever had in my life, She only gives the extra credit out if your on a sports team or take out extra time to come to her history club. Shes not helpful when you dont understand an answer on the test reviews. She talks about nothing in class thats worth learning. This women shouldnt be a teacher, she knows nothing.
She is a very good teacher and is very clear in her lectures. Don't listen to everyone else on here... You have to read the book to get a good grade in this class. She lectures from different angles of the subject that aren't in the book. So if you read and listen, you get a double whammy information/history wise. She's funny too!
Easiest class I've taken by far. Textbook isn't even used. She just lectures the entire time. Her quizzes are easy, you just have to make flashcards and study (answers can be found online) if anyone fails her class they are literally retarded
One of my favorite teachers, but she does have a few faults of being a few minutes late to class usually. You dont have to buy the textbook because you dont use it. No homework unless she cancels class, but its very easy. She kept me very interesting during the lecture. The tests are very easy and she likes short answers, thank god. She's very good
Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll she keeps history interesting take her classes whenever possible after taking one of her classes I took another just for fun
Her way of grading is just ridiculous. But there arent many grades at all
Tests are very difficult. Require heavy textbook reading. However, extra credit is given out like candy. She tells you exactly what will be on the exam, whether you choose to study or not is on you. She is a hard grader. Go to history club and you are guaranteed an A or B.
Gomez makes you read chapters in the book to test you on it next class. The following class gives the lecture on what was just read/got tested on. Announces that you failed the test, the book is wrong, and that you need to visit the writing center (Every Quiz/Test) to gain your communication points back. Also get ready to go to the History Club!
She is extremely funny. But you must show up and you must read if you want to pass.
Virtually did not assign homework. No research papers, no projects; the only grades she gives are on quizzes, midterm, final, attendance, and extra credit. She test off of her lectures and the textbook. The tests only consist of 5 definition (10 on midterm and final). Lectures are funny and interesting. If you fail you must have been trying to!
This woman is hilarious! She's crazy and she knows it. Super easy class. Grades are off of handwritten quizzes. Tip: when she gives you the study guide, just google "topic for kids" and copy whatever it says. She wants short, to-the-point answers. If you're not sure about one, just ask her and she'll tell you exactly what she's looking for.
More than fiar professor. Gives many extra credit opportunities, doesn't want to see you fail. But tough of spelling and grammar. You will be running to the writing center.
No need for textbook in class. Gives out study guides for quizzes and tests. Keeps the lecture interesting, and is avaliable for questions after class. Has many extra credit oppourtunities, and wants to see you succeed.
Attendance is a major part of your grade (100 out of 500 points). Four quizzes (25 questions each, 25 points each), midterm (50 questions, 100 points), and a final (50 questions, 200 points) all multiple choice. The review packet questions are on quizlet too. Also, Fifty extra credit points for attending the history club meetings. Great professor.
HILARIOUS! This the best word to describe Ms. Gomez. I recommend to attend history club for extra credit. She gives out study guides during the lesson. it will be wise to review some of the questions before hand because during the lesson she answers some of the questions on the study guide.
Any negative comments about prof Gomez are from years ago and she has completley changed the layout of her class. NO homework. She gives AMAZING study guides that have the exact quiz/test questions on them. Anyone that has taken her recently and not walked away with an A literally just didn't fill out simple study guides. Not to mention the EC
Do readings every once in a while to appear as if you're trying and she will love you. Gives review guides for quizzes (4 total), the quiz questions are pulled directly from that packet. It'd be hard to fail, she sets you up to get an A. Occasionally hard to follow, lectures are taught after you've been quizzed. Annoying, but manageable.
Professor Gomez is great! She will help you out when you ask, her quizzes are exactly like the study guides (only 4 quizzes), she's rlly funny too if ur into history. Just read the chapters and get a jist of whats going on then everything will make sense in class. If u ever miss something just talk to her abt it, she'll understand.
I feel we learn more with great lectures and easy testing. I learned a lot I didnt know in this class
This professor surprised me in more ways than one. She's funny, she knows her subject, and best of all - she managed to generate interest in the subject within me. She is awesome.
Professor Gomez was all lecture and notes, the only thing graded were Quizzes, Midterm and Final. She also allowed for extra credit. Overall it was a very easy class as long as you listen, take notes and complete the test review. She gives a quiz review a week before any test and the same exact questions are on the test. Strange sense of humor
Professor Gomez did not give feedback on assignments or quizzes, I did not know which questions I got wrong and how to improve on them.
I've been in her His112 & His111 classes offline/online and she's one of the best! Attending her lectures are optional. Just read the textbook and you'll do fine. The only thing graded are some quizzes which she gives pre-quiz study packets on (optional) beforehand so you know what to expect. She gives many extra credit opportunities too!
Prof. Gomez was a little crazy-in a good way. She always found ways to make a topic interesting and really helped you to put yourself into the shoes of someone who lived hundreds of years ago, and to understand their thinking. She was really passionate and funny. Sort of tough grader for movie reviews, but if you follow the rubric you're fine.
I LOVED PROFESSOR GOMEZ. She has SO much personality, it's hilarious!!! Very lecture heavy, but basically goes over what will be on the quizzes. Pay attention to her mini quizzes and you will pass the midterm and final with ease. She was super sweet and the class was chill. Would totally take again if I could.
Prof Gomez makes things very easy. All of her quizzes were redo-able up to 5 times and open note. You do not even have to go to class. I did not learn anything but I passed with an A and got credit! She is very humorous and funny.
She seems as if she wants to do well, but gives absolutely no feedback at all and insist she is there to help with weekly course "questions." She doesn't answer emails or any questions in a timely fashion for you to submit an assignment on time. I'm completely convinced she has no idea what she's doing on an online course. No clear course material.
She's terrible in an online environment, clear criteria? Never heard of it apparently. It felt like I was given a brain dead fish to teach me history. She was all one word repsonses if any and absolutely no help at all. Go find a different instructor, this one has clearly got to go away from ger teaching field
If your already taking a heavy load and just need the credits she's who you want as the work you have to do for here class is minimal at best which should give you plenty of time for other subjects. However if you do sit in to her lectures she can make them interesting and a good time and can help your test grades which are already easy.
In addition to this one I took her history 111 and its just as easy the second time as her quizzes open note and let you take them until you get a perfect score and her lectures are interesting and not even mandatory.
She was just okay. She is very funny and makes learning fun, but to that same chagrin, we're not doing anything except lectures, pre-quizzes, quizzes, and an online learning comment. It's kind of repetitive.
The class was lectures + extra credit resubmittable quizzes + 2 tests. You get out what you put in. There was a textbook that I never touched (she assigned different reading pages every week). I did learn a lot but if I was a history, major I might've been disappointed at the lack of participation or assignments. Not an easy A but an easy pass.
There were multiple times she made "mildly" racist comments. One that stood out was when referring to the black plague and how many Chinese people died she said "...not enough in my opinion...". Only use the lecture notes, look ahead for what words are on the quizzes and you only need 1-3 sentences for the importance and definition.
Don't take these good reviews with much weight. A lot of her jokes are insensitive and made me feel uncomfortable. She makes you feel stupid when you try to answer a question, then wonders why no one wants to participate in class. She is also very particular with grading the weekly quizzes and provides little to no feedback.
Professor Gomez makes the class fairly easy, though lectures can be repetitive. Attend classes, use the textbook, and try unstuck study for study prep - the quizzes are straightforward if you're diligent.
I took prof Gomez's class completely asynchronous and while I was aware that there would be little student- teacher communication, she was completely unreachable through office hours and email. The work is easy but repetitive. She is also very poor with technology, def unqualified for online teaching. She gives no feedback.
She makes learning all of this information fun, and answers questions well. The only issue is that she has a lot of trouble with technology. So, you might need to remind her that she's not sharing her screen, or inform her about issues with some of the assignments. She gives her own stories about topics too, which is very interesting to hear.
