Very helpful and effective teaching style
Good teacher! Nothing real special, nothing terrible. I would reccomend him.
very effective teaching style, good use of humor, I would recommend him.
do bad on ur first test and do good after each one and he'll bump ur grade up (he said)
His tests are somewhat difficult but he is always willing to help. He is a really nice guy and grades you on your participation and effort. I totally recconmend him!
good teacher, interesting clear and helpful
A very nice guy. always there to help you. we had no homework assignments, but I heard in some classes they do have it. tests are multiple choice and moderate difficulty. I can only recommend him.
Awesome professor! Highly recommended. Very helpful. Tests are moderatly difficult. If you study and read you'll do fine. He will help you on a question if needed. No homework but in other classes he has he mentioned he gave out homework. If you want to have a great teacher this is the one!
excellent and very clear teacher.
Awesomely addictive. Uses real life examples to explain courses. Takes a difficult class and turns it into a drug. I crave his lectures because they are informative and bypass the overwhelming textbook jitters. Wish he would come back to WCC.
One of the more boring professors I've had. Not a very engaging speaker. He still uses the chalkboard - a minus for me. Kept referring to female classmates as 'my dear' which I disliked. His explanations were tolerably clear.
I found that he is willing to help, but sometimes makes it more confusing then if you didn't get his help. He is very nice - I just did not get a whole lot out of the course. He generates his tests strickly from a CD and the average grade in our class for test 1 was 66% and 54% on test 2.
Absolutely wonderful!!!! I love his lectures, and you can can guarantee that you'd walk out of lecture understanding it completely, just because of his way of teaching his stuff! The use of examples from our everyday life really helps. I personally never thought I would enjoy a class like this, but obviously I was wrong! If you plan on taking th
Riyadh actually made economics interesting. I hate econ and am not very good at it, but he is very clear and always willing to answer questions. Very friendly and helpful. Challenges the class, but prepares you for the challenge. One of the best professors I have ever had.
Very Funny. Gives great examples in class. Difficult subject but he is very helpful.
Hard professor, but fair and VERY helpful. You'll learn how to solve issues as a package rather than one piece of it. My grade sucked, however, the EDUCATION I got has been invaluable.
Do the homework, many exam questions were word for word the same.
will not recommend to other students
Grading is simply on three tests, evenly weighted unless your grade steadily improves then he will be flexible and give you better final grade. Makes class a bit more interesting by relating to students, but immature humor about drinking a lot. Don't need to go to class if you read the book. Exam questions are from book study questions - EASY.
I do not recommend him.
Riyadh is one of the best. Kinda hard but he clears everything up. After his class, you'll really be able to understand economics. Tests are not that easy, but if u study you'll do just fine. I ended up with an A so if i can do it, u can do it :)
Great explanations, sense of humor, pleasant demeanor. Learned and understood more than I anticipated. Highly recomment for Econ.
Very good professor. The only thing I had a problem with was the fact that our grade only relied on 3 exams. It's hard work but he gives an excellent over view of what you need to know.
bahkali is a really good professor. he is extremely helpful during office hours it's econ so the class is going to be somewhat difficult. like other people have said if you keep improving your exam score he gives you your last score(if its the highest). I would take another class with him. he's also very funny and actually teaches the material.
I hate economics but I'm required to take 201 and 202 for my major. I was dreading it but he makes it both interesting and very easy to understand. He's very funny, nice and helpful. I recommend him highly.
Great instructor. Very easy going and fun. He does not care about attendance. No homework. All grading is done on three non-progressive tests. Notes are very important for this class. He explains everything very clearly but its not directly from the book. If you dont take good notes, you'll be hurting come test time. He uses most of the class time.
[Note: This is for a course I took w/Riyadh at WCC (where the students are apparently more likely to show up for class and try hard than the other place where he teaches.] Mr. Bahkali is an effective and engaging instructor. I found him to be clear, helpful, interesting, and funny. Those who rated him low probably don't have much going on upstairs.
Great teacher! Made concepts easy to understand and used examples to clarify. Also, a nice guy and understanding. I would definitely recommend.
Grade was based on 3 exams and the questions were tricky. I would not take him again.
Good professor. The class is tough. However, he does a good job explaining the material. Make sure you study hard for the tests b/c the grade is bases only on the 3 tests.
Grades on three 100 point tests. E-mails HW/Quizzes, but not req'd to turn in. Attendance not req'd but helpful in succeeding. Must read book, he explains concepts..but the questions the tests are tricky. Good guy and helpful. He'll even bump up your grade by a third (A- to an A)!!
Took him for 201 and am taking him this semester for 202. Good class, funny guy and keeps us well entertained. Test are tricky, but I think the tests are going to be tricky for any econ class since econ itself is not an easy subject to master. Read before each lecture!! So then when he lectures you don't sit in class with a blank look on your face.
He is a great teacher. Attaindance is not required but I do not see how you could pass without going. Your grade is based on 3 tests so if you do not do good on exams do not take. He is very helpful and very easy to approach. Took for 201 and 202. FYI tests are hard. If you do not study you will not pass!!!!
Took his graduate class. Quite disappointed. He is a great professor but the exams DO NOT meet the material he covers. There are grad students retaking the class and some have completely failed. I just don't understand why couldn't he prepare us for the exams instead of teaching basic knowledge that is not efficient to pass his tests.
Taught the entry-level class very well. A little difficult to understand at times, always willing to clarify what he just said. Explains in detail what to expect on tests.
He is a great teacher. He knows exactly the best way to get the ideas across to his students. It is not an easy class. The theories can be confusing. The test are a little hard, but if you study you will do fine.
Exams are difficult. Lectures are kind of dry but it's more the subject. Offered to let me make up points on an exam b/c I was sick. Then didn't.
He has been the best teacher I have ever had! I wish all teachers were as dedicated as he is....
This Professors is a nice guy but his style of teaching was not by the book. We had 3 exams, online homework and pop quizzes. He didn't follow the book and the formulas he used were different from the book/homework. He tries to get you to think outside the box but it doesn't work if you don't know the material. I Have to take this class AGAIN!!!
Extremely good professor. Very knowledgeable and funny. Keeps class interesting by telling great stories. Took him for Econ 202 b/c he was so good. You must spend time outside of the classroom learning the material as well as pay attention and take good notes in class. It will only benefit you when it comes time to take one of the 3 exams.
I hate microeconomy but he makes it interesting and understandable.
only 3 exams to get your grade the exams are very difficult so don't skip class otherwise you will no way pass
Incredibly intelligent, uses relevant, coherent examples. Also pretty funny. Very engaging lecturer.
this instructor seems to really care about his students. Grade based on average of 3 exam scores. Must master language used on exams to do well in the class. Lectures are interesting as a matter of my own opinion. Great guy, tough subject, get wording and good luck! don't forget to study.
Great professor, and hilarious! The grade in my class was solely based on exams, so stay on top of the material so you perform well on them. He's not 'hard' really, just make sure to attend EVERY lecture and complete EVERY problem he assigns, and you'll be fine.
Such a great teacher, so great that I am taking him for micro next semester. I'm not going to lie econ was not easy I earned my grade, but he made this class so enjoyable I never missed a class. Class is not mandatory but, tests are straight from the lectures. If you need help go to his office hours. He doesn't respond quickly to email
Very Intelligent guy and very skilled at teaching. He knows what he is talking about, and as long as you write down everything that he writes down and study hard, you will do fine in this clas!
Great professor, and explains things in great detail. Econ is a hard subject but he makes it less complicated. Coming to class is need in order to pass because you need to take notes. Reading the text will help the having the note will help clarify what you read. Has some funny stories and tells a good joke now and again.
Teaches Econ the way it needs to be taught! Amazing Professor!!!
His lectures are easy to follow, however do not meet his tests. On one test, 68% of students failed. He asked for suggestions for easier tests, then berated anyone who gave a suggestion. When the best students in the class can't finish the tests due to time, they are obviously too hard. I will get an A, and still feel his tests are unfair.
Sweetheart and super helpful. Pretty funny too. The subject itself is really hard but he breaks it down so everyone can understand. You just have to do all you can to prepare for the flippin tests which are brutal until he takes pity on you and throws you an easy one. I would take him again!
Really great guy. Loves teaching the subject and is very knowledgeable and willing to help. He's from Saudi Arabia though so it's hard to understand him through his accent sometimes. He talks fast, but he's more than willing to go back over anything for clarification. Just do the homework he sends out and go to every class.
Bahkali was very funny but the class was awful. It was so hard because the tests were impossible (and I studied for days prior). The material he taught did not match the tests at all. He tries to cram too much information into too little of time. I like him as a person but hate him as a person. Do not take this class.
I am generally a very good student but Riyadh's class is above and beyond difficult. Although he's a funny guy, I don't recommend taking his course if you want a passing grade or want to learn anything about Economics. Your grade is based entirely off four exams which are usually inconsistent with the information given during class. Stay away!
He is awesome.
first eoon class of my freshman year and I would have to say choosing this professor wold have to had been my best decision ever. tests are not hard if you listen to lecture and do study guides however you do have to pay attention in class and not miss any days!!!
He is a good guy and wants his students to succeed, but his class was brutal. On every exam, 15/50 students had a C or higher and the highest grade on any of the exams was a 92. He told us 1. That the practice exams were harder than the actual exams and 2. That the practice exams and study guides covered all of the concepts on the exam. Both False
First test half the class failed. I find the class easy enough and never read the book but i recommend paying attention else itll be rough. Hes funny but the tests and in class work do not always match up
Dr. Bahkali is a very good instructor. He actually teaches the material. You will leave this class understanding economics far better than when you entered. The best advice I can give is read the book, attend all classes, and do extra practice problems to prepare for exams. But you have to understand the material in order to do well in the class!!
Good Instructor, you need to attend all his classes and take notes, as well as read the book, It's easy If you focus, Good luck.
The class is overall okay, the lectures do not reflect the exams, there are only 4. Read the book, and seriously pay attention to it because the exams are hard! He is a very funny and nice professor but I am a good student and I will be getting a B in it :-(
The whole grade was based on three tests including the final, but they were all multiple choice and straight from the book. Lectures were clear and organized, but you really need to read the book to pass.
A wonderful teacher who makes sure to offer real world applications. He brings extensive knowledge and understanding of his field to his class. Showing up to class and taking good notes will take you far in his class. He makes sure to provide all of the resources you will need to be ready for tests and quizzes. I will take one of his classes again
Makes things so easy to understand and very approachable!
I'm not very good at ECON, but he explained most things in a way that I could understand. However, I also read the book and did all the sample problems he gave us. Your grade is base off 3 tests only, so study hard.
I only had him for the last half of the semester he is ridiculously hard.
Very well laid out, interesting, and (mostly) clear lectures. More than willing to answer questions/clarify on the spot or after class. Managed to get us laughing. The tests were tough, the 1st especially, but did end up providing a very generous curve. Take your time on tests, and ask him to clarify ?'s if not sure. He was always happy to do so!
Exams are tough and very tricky. All the questions come from his lectures. Probably don't need the textbook to pass the class. Sometimes he does seem offended when people ask questions but will answer them. He is knowledgeable about the material and you will learn alot.
You MUST be consistent with attendance, homework, and reading to do well in this class. He's a great professor, but his course is difficult.
You learn a lot in the class as long as you show up. Reading is not required and I only opened the book a couple times in the semester. Grade is based off four exams that include concepts from lecture and multiple examples. He is easy to contact through email. Attendance is not mandatory but he likes the people who come to class regularly.
He is a very nice guy, but the exams are so hard. The stuff he tells you will be on the exam aren't even on it.
great teacher! amazing lectures and really funny! he is a good man with many examples to teach. I recommend to all.
Dr. Bakhali is a really great and funny professor. You definitley need to go to class to understand all the material, but its a pretty easy class overall. He gives 4 exams and there is online homework, but it is not too much work. You have to really study hard though and work for your grade.
Really great professor!
Funny and not too hard if you go to class.
I never opened the text book, but I attend every class. You basically have to ask questions and dont be afraid to do so. The exams were pretty hard so studying was a definite must. He is a great professor though!
Prof. Bakhali is one of the best teachers, especially considering the nature of this class being very hard. You NEED to attend his classes if you want a solid grade. He curves reasonably and encourages you to engage because things can get confusing. His lectures are heavy but fun, because he shows how every topic ties together into the economy.
Really funny and though the course can be a little tasking, he puts efffort into making sure you pass
He is very nice but what we learn in class is NOT on the exams. Way too hard for a level 100 class. Even when I did study the highest I ever got on an exam was a B+. I recommend not taking him for non majors.
Doesnt help you if youre struggling. Will not actually grade homework and give you correct answers
Kind of intimidating but a nice guy. Graded on 20% homework and 4 exams at 20% each. Homework was assigned through McGraw Hill so you will have to buy in. Exams heavily cover lecture and some book content, but there's occasional questions that were discussed nowhere. Kind of difficult but study well and you'll do fine
Really really Good lecture, but exams are hard.
1. If you care about GPA, do not take him. 2. If you want to learn from a cool guy w/ experience and knowledge, take him while you still can. 3. He "teaches Beethoven" in class, but tests are "on Mozart." 4. If you don't get #3, then don't take his class. 5. The goal is to gradually improve on your tests in his class. He will curve your grade.
Excellent professor, good lectures. Strict about cell phone/class distractions. There are 4 exams, plus weekly online homework (code found in your book, so buy book early). No homework extensions or make-up exams. He rounds-up grade for participation and effort. Attend class, take good notes, ask questions and you'll pass with a good grade.
Provides little if any feedback and does not provide assistance when asked. When responding to emails just replies with yes or no regardless of what you typed as if he did not read it. If you need a more hands on approach with feedback you'd be best to avoid.
Tests never matched the material in the book and with a curve the average grade was a B-. Questions on the tests were also worded difficultly and made the questions more confusing than they needed to be.
The class is pretty much just making sure you know when deadlines are. It was all done through an online software that is pretty easy to navigate. The exams are proctored through your webcam though so you'll need that.
I can't speak for in person class, but his online class was awful. He provided literally no lectures or guidance, the tests continuously asked questions which weren't answered in the text, and the exams were set on the wrong dates. I asked for help in his office hours, he said he would do something specific, and then just didn't. Just awful.
The class was pretty easy. All you have to do is read the textbook before the deadlines and you'll do just fine. If you have a question, the response time can vary between less than one day to a couple days.
I had him online because of COVID. He didnt have any lectures and he did not explain anything very well. The things he did give us were hard to read and comprehend. The exams were really hard and was written very badly.
Homework assignment once a week, no known criteria, graded strict, 4 exams that sometimes have nothing to do with the textbook or any course materials. No lectures (fully async). I wouldn't recommend this to anyone wanting to pass
Very unorganized, he does nothing and refers everything to his GA. The homework and exams cover topics that are not provided in the materials given for the course because he uses premade exams & assignments from quizlet and doesn’t create them himself based on the required text book or manual materials given. It’s worded poorly and ineffective.
I can't even begin to explain how frustrating this entire course was. This professor did not post any kind of nots, lectures, slides, or any kind of information about any assignments. It was very unorganized and quizzes and exams would include things that weren't even in the textbook or in any assignments. He didn't grade and didn't offer zooms.
The whole class is online through third party book you have to buy. Professor only inputs the grates, was available through email when I had questions and made an accommodation when I needed it. Overall if you do the work the class is easy, assignments are best score of three attempts. Tests were a little difficult.
The class is disorganized, with tests often not reflecting the textbook material. However, Unstuck ai proved helpful for preparing. Overall, a challenging course, but manageable with the right study tools.
His lectures are quite engaging, and he explains concepts very well. He does not force people to memorize formulas, which is something I really appreciate. He does expect you to take macro first, but that does not cause too many issues for those who didn't. Attendance is very important for this class, so don't skip!
I took this class and it was by far the worst Quantitative Reasoning course I've had. He speaks very quietly and with a heavy accent, making lectures difficult to understand. He also refuses to use slides, lectures feel disorganized. He frequently uses macroeconomics terms, even though no one in the class had taken that course. Avoid this professor.
I throughly enjoyed this class. The professor clearly loves the subject and did great lectures. To succeed, I'd say follow up the in person lectures with the textbook readings. Many students didn't attend class and I'm not sure how they did, but I'd advise you to attend as many lectures as possible!
This professor was really hard. He refused to use or give slides and very unwilling to give any extensions. It was hard to understand and it was the hardest class i ever took. With a complicated topic like economics it was better to just take it in person.
Barely can hear him during the lecture, exam heavy(majority of the questions aren't in the same format as in the slides), lots of HW online barely no time to do them he doesn't give u a break from lectures just boom boom. DO NOT TAKE
Great professor! Dr. Bahkali lectures for the full class time but repeats things as necessary and includes real-life references. He is responsive to emails and respectful of all students. Online homework and quizzes and 4 in-person multiple choice exams. He does not curve grades, but the resources are there for you to get an A if you study!
