He's very interesting and he tells you exactly what's on the test.
Tells you /exactly/ what will be on the test. Makes class interesting by making fun of students and throwing chalk at those who fall asleep. heh. definitely recommended.
This guy is quite interesting. Makes the class worth staying awake in.
He is a great teacher. He tells you EXACTLY what will be on his tests. No final if you have an A going into it...which is quite easy!!!!

great teacher hard ass test! he tells you what to expect but still doesnt everyone tell you what to expect?
Worst Teacher at Louisiana Tech
Very straight foward teacher. Don't take it and think it will be a breeze. Test are hard, but tells you what will be on test (exactly). Oh ya DON'T FALL ASLEEP IN CLASS!
Very intersting guy and makes class examples fun and entertaining, but is not very willing to help students during his office hours or after class! He makes you feel stupid if you dont know everything about economics! Really good presentation of material but sometimes mean when you ask for help!
The class is rather interesting, however his tests can be tricky. Be sure you know the answer to a question he asks before you answer because he is good at making you feel really dumb. Also, you get an opportunity for 25 bonus pts. but you have to visit him often and he doesn't like visitors!
He is a complete dick if you try to ask him a question. He loves to make you feel dumb. All things aside, he knows his stuff.
He may not be very helpful or nice, but he will teach you the truth in whats going on in the economy and not go along with what everyone else is teaching. He may be alittle hard but you will learn a lot and not regret taking the class.
He will not answer questions and trys to make you feel dumb. He says one thing in class and another on the test. Can't do good. Shows interesting movies. Class is not boring.
Maybe he should find another job, because I think he really hates students.
will not help you at all!! very interesting...great lectures...if you pass 201 with him..take 202 the next quarter...its the same exact class!! same notes and everything...tests are very specific make sure you know it

The class is very interesting, but I don't like this teacher. He doesn't help your understanding. He makes you feel like you don't know anything. I think he is out to destroy students rather than help them. He take 5 points away from everything. (secs. late for class, wrinkle scantron, etc.)
Don't be fooled by previous posts. He is a damn good teacher. He knows what he is talking about. If you read, you will have no problem making an A or B. If you think he is mean, you people need to get a sense of humor. For all of you who hate him, you probably failed his class and are dumb anyway.
I like his teaching method. He isn't like other teachers who just read to you. I think other people have a problem because he doesn't baby them. If you want an easy a, don't take his class. I got an okay grade, but I earned every one I got. Being prepared is a must for this class.
He seems scary at first, but he is really not such a bad guy. He will even give you a daily grade to boost your overall grade. Just follow the rules, read your chapters, and stay awake and you should do just fine.
He isn't here to be your friend or for you to cry on his shoulder. He actually does his job and takes pride in doing it well. To bad, the state doesn't have more employees like him. If your feelings hurt easily, then skip him. Granted, his ego does match his ever expanding waistline.
hes like a bad movie. you seen it once and you hate it..but you watch it again and it grows on you. He is very good at what he does though. Its a hard class, but he makes stupid jokes and insults random people so its worthwhile.
I think that he is an awsome professor!!! If you want someone to just breeze you through the class don't take him. He makes the subject interesting, and he makes sure you know what is required for the tests. If he taught any other classes I needed I would take him. Blackstock you rock!!
I've taken 3 econ classes with blackstock and I think his classes are very interesting but his tests are tough. Econ is not the most interesing class but if you take him I'm sure you will become more interested. Blackstock is the best alternative to the others
Great teacher, horriable person
Blackstock is not like other professors (which is nice). You definitley earn your grade b/c his tests aren't easy. he can seem very intimidating at times; however, his class is very interesting. I'm going to try to take him again.
he is hilarious. keeps a dry subject interesting. read the chapters and take good notes. the tests are fair.

Very good teacher. Test are hard as crap though. Taking notes is the best way to study for his tests. Some material he covers is not in text or very hard to find. Makes Econ fun. I would take him over any other econ prof.
i think blackstock is the only college professor i've had who has not put me to sleep once. he loves to tell you how the world/government is screwing you and he makes boring stuff as interesting as possible. tests are straight from the notes.. i barely study and make As/Bs.. just take good notes and you're set. if you're easily offended, stay away.
Blackstock is a very good professor. I'm not sure why he gets such a bad rap. I've had him twice, and believe me, don't be afraid to take him. Just take notes, and the tests come straight from his lectures. If you take notes, pay attention, and come to class, you will do fine.
I really hate this man. The only reason that I didn't drop his class is because the class is required and I hate him less than O'Boyle. Anyway, hard tests. But, he does grade on a curve that will give you at least a letter grade higher.
Blackstock is a good professor. He does a good job of explaining the material and giving examples. His class is not easy but if you come to class and take good notes you should get a least a B. I recommend him.
Blackstock is one of those teachers where you look forward to going to class because of his teaching, he may dislike the government and all but you come out of the class learning more. His grading can be a bit tricky.
Blackstock is hillariius. Any chart or example his gives involes 2 thins; pizzia and alcohol. And he doesnt like the government at all. Class is interesting, tests are HARD(but theres a big curve), and i advise going by his office hes very helpful.
Exams only have about 30 ques. on each. Makes class a lot less boring than it would normally be. He usually dismisses class at least half-hour early; good curve at end of quarter.
Blackstock is a great teacher. You must read the textbook to do well on the chapter quizzes and his tests are moderately challenging. Overall, his class is pretty simple though. He gets his point across and lets you go. I hear he is leaving and that is too bad. I am lucky to have had him as a teacher 3 times.

It was my final Econ class. Very tough but absolutely interesting. Strict instructor...but knows what he is doing and can be very inspirational and motivational. I came away from that class knowing more about our economy and personal finance mgmt than ever before. Don't be afraid to take his courses.
Tough class but a very good teacher. 've taken him for 201 and 202 as well. This is by far the hardest EON yet. Red your chapters before class. He gives a one, random question quiz before class each day. Tests are pretty tough as well but he is so interesting to listen to. You'll learn alot but you'll work your it as well.
Great prof. Enjoyed being in class, never wanted to miss class, Test were all essay and very tough, his grading of the essay answers was "all or none" I always thought I did good on the test but he would always shock me with a C or a D, It blew my mind how strict his grading was, Very rediculous! Blackstock you need to ease up on your Grading!
Great teacher but his test are very hard. You EARN every ponit you get in his class. I learned a good deal more then I thought I would and more then a C final would show. He does a good job at making a dry topic less boring. Take him but be prepared to work hard.
Loved his class!I came in dreading this class, but he made it fun and interesting. He gives daily quizzes and you need to read the chapts before class to do well, but it will help you do better in the class anyway. His tests aren't the easiest, but he tells you what to study for the most part. I recommend him to anyone who will put some work into it
Needs to let us know exactly what will be on tests. gives tons of info, but most doesn't apply to course
take his comments with a grain of salt & enjoy.
great teacher. i took 3 classes with him and i would take him another time if i could. his classes are hilarous. if you're taking QA 233, take him absolutely - statistics never seemed so easy. if he knows that you're smart, he may (i repeat, may) actually like you, and sometimes help if you need it.
READ YOUR CHAPTERS BEFORE CLASS!! He will quiz you on them everyday before class. Other than that, I loved this class. Blackstock is a great teacher and is very entertaining. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU ARE A FAN OF THE FED!
The only people that should make less than a B in this class are the one's who expect that by them showing up they should warrant an A in the course. Take careful organized notes because the test is exactly from them. Of all the Econ teachers i've had his tests were the most fair. If you know the material you will pass with ease. Great teacher.
Blackstock is a one of the few professors in the College of Business who makes such an incredibly boring subject quite interesting. He WILL lock you out of his classroom, so do not be late. Test can be a little tricky, but as long as you come to class and take notes straight from his lectures and examples, you will do fine. Highly recommend him!
Great class, great teacher. Learned so much more in this class than Bennett's 201 and did much better on tests. Will definitely take him for 312
Blackstock is one of the coolest economic teachers at Louisiana Tech. The only thing about him is his unfair grader, HE DOES NOT ROUND!!! The other bad part is that he locks the doors on you so if you are late don't bother. I've learned a lot and would take him again. Just expect no mercy if you have a 89.999, it is a B!
I absolutely hate Economics. He is the only teacher I will take for my Economics classes required for my major. Easy to understand, easy tests, doesn't take roll, understandable lectures.. As long as you go to class and listen, you'll make a good grade. He doesn't round though, but does a curve at the end of 201.
Blackstock is awesome. He keeps it on your level and makes it interesting. He will lock you out and you'll remember everything he says. If your phone goes off, he deducts points of your total grade. His tests come straight from his notes. I recommend him for 202 because the first 4 weeks is the exact same material covered in 201.
Mr. Blackstock is an awesome professor. One of the best I've had at Tech. He makes the class interesting and the test comes straight from the notes. I definitely recommend him although if you are always running late to class I recommend you don't take him because as soon as class begin he is locking the door.
Blackstock is a great lecturer and makes everything easy to understand. The only problem is that he does not care about his students nor does he excuse anyone from anything even if its a family emergency. He grades firmly and he DOES NOT CURVE...I REPEAT, DOES NOT CURVE. If you do bad on one test it might just cost you the grade you wanted.
I loved his class!! He is so funny and he keeps you interested!!! Tests are directly from notes and he gives occassional in class quizzes. Aplia assignments are mandatory but there not hard!!! I definately recommend him!!!!!
Econ is a tough class for anyone who doesn't do well in math (like me) but he made it a little easier to understand. The principles are easy to get after HE explains them but think about taking this class later and brush up on graphs and algebra if you need help with math. DON'T TAKE ANY OTHER TEACHER!
AMAZING teacher, very fun class. I learned a lot and it got me very interested in economics. I must say I agree with most everything he had to say, he should write a book, or have a show, or something. I would recommend him to anyone, I wish I could take more of his classes!
1 bad test grade will kill your overall grade since there are only 3 so be careful! Def the best econ teacher at tech but if you're not great at math you will have a hard time. No curving at all! Make sure you get all of the homework right if you don't test well, home work isn't bonus but you'll wish you had those points in the end.
Dr. Blackstock is a really good professor. I will say his tests can sometimes not really cover what you think will be on there. The first test was all definitions but the second one was all math. Just know everything. His grading is wierd too, A 100 question homework counts as much as a 1 question assignment.
great teacher, he has sense of humor, I wouid recommend him defenitively....his lecturing are crystal clear, and class is not hard, but you do have to do your homework,it will help you at the end of the quarter, and yes, ALWAYS go to class because he will lower your grade if you miss 2-3 classes, trust me, not a good idea
Thought he was the best lecture teacher i ever had. test were tricky to me. you should be able to get a B as long as you study and do the homework.
This teacher is awesome. Both his 201 and 202 classes are the same info. Plus, he's really interested in Econ, which helps with making this class interesting. would take him again in a second. Tests are easy if you took notes.
He is hilarious. I have had him for all three of my required Econ classes. He makes the subject much more interesting than you would think. If you write everything he says, you will never have to open a book to study for a test. Don't miss class or you will get confused. He moves very fast and wants you to be responsible.
This teacher is amazing. He's hilarious and knows his stuff. It's gonna be hard for me to take any other Econ professor after this class.
i had him for econ 201 and 202 and loved him. he's a great lecturer and actually makes you enjoy going to class. just study the notes from his slides and you should do good. there was an online book but only used it to do homework his test come straight from the lectures. would highly recommend
Great teacher
Economics is definitely not my strong subject by any means. Dr. Blackstock makes the class so interesting and if you take notes on his lectures verbatim EVERY class period you will do great in the class. I will definitely be taking him for 312. Love this teacher, wish there were more like him.
He is an amazing Econ teacher. He's also my favorite teacher at Tech. His tests are semi hard, but he tells you exactly what is on them. If you just go to class and pay attention, you'll do great.
Interesting lectures, taking notes on his powerpoints is a must, and he doesn't really care if you learn the info or not
He is a great teacher, if you dont study his tests are brutal, but if you pay attention and study its easy, not very helpful though and very sarcastic
He is my favorite teacher at Tech by far. He teaches you what you need to know for the test and then he lets you out of class. No stupid busy work that makes zero sense. He is very funny and loves using alcohol in all of his examples. He is also one crazy looking dude, he is 7 foot tall with an afro and tattoos on his forearm. He is AWESOME!!!
Took Him for Econ 201-202. But He's a different person in 312 the tests are confusing he go though the slides very quickly. Don't cover what anything going to be on the test. Lectures pretty good. But Don't Know How to Teach. Give quizzes. 3 Tests all together. He do act like a mule. If you get. Sometimes he seem like got an attitude.Research good
Funny, goofy-looking, and awesome. A fun teacher who gives a great understanding of the material. Even if you know nothing about Economics nor care about it, he will change your mind quickly.
Waste of time. If you want to learn econ take Darrat or Bennet. If you just want a grade after a crummy 30 min power point presentation take this guy. I got a B but felt like I learned nothing.
I absolutely loved Dr. Blackstock. My friend recommended him to me. He is "quick and dirty" as he says and is very much so to the point. He is hilarious, sarcastic and straight up AWESOME. He made Econ fun for a Liberal Arts student. I'd recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Blackstock is a great teacher. You get out early almost everyday.Tests are easy (comes straight from the notes) but the tests are short, which doesn't allow a lot of room for mistakes. Bad part about this teacher is he does not round up grades. if you have a 89.9% as your final grade, you will have B on your transcript.
Very great professor in my opinion, I just took him last quarter for Econ 202. He's got a great sense of humor, stimulates plenty of interest in the subject, and gives great lectures. Just a word of advice, you must attend every class as the notes are very vital (he does not put them online), everything on the test are from these notes as well!
Great professor! Explains WHY the graph is the way it is, gives examples that are incredibly easy to understand, and keeps his lectures really funny & interesting.
Average teacher. Lectures are sometimes funny/interesting, other times not so much! Not hard but you have to be present to understand material and you have to study. Pop quizzes should be expectd after some lectures. Book was not used in class but pretty freq for online HW. He Does NOT round up grades, a 79.9 is a C!
If you have to take Economics, or even just for an elective, take Dr. Blackstock. He explains the economy perfectly. He is a strict professor and doesn't baby anyone, but that is because he expects you to be responsible adults and learn the material. If you do your homework, study for tests, and attend class, you will do fine.
Mr. Blackstock is probably one of the best professors on campus. His keeps his class interesting and makes learning easy. You have to come to class everyday and his power points are always helpful and entertaining. Wish I could have him for all my classes!
Was pretty good for 202. Hwevr, he's chngd his testing method and made all his Test Short Answer/Essay so the class requires a great deal of 'indepth' studying. He does not tell you what to expect on test either which generally cover a lot of Chapters at once! Daily APLIA HW. Pop Quizzes(easy). May award Bonus 4 Perfect Attendance at end of Qrtr.
Dr. Blackstock is one of my favorite teachers! This class was hard but as long as you do the Aplia and study what he tells you to study you will pass. He made the class very interesting and this class actually made me change my major to economics! I highly recommend him for any econ you have to take.
Can be very rude. Tests for 312 are ridiculously hard and sometimes do not cover the material that is expected or told. Walks around with a sense of entitlement that is very annoying. Caused me to hate economics. Bennett is a much more caring and an all around better teacher. Quiz everyday, aplia every night, doesn't round up grades. MISERABLE
He even says himself that he's an A**-Hole. He prides himself on being ludicrously hard and rude to students.
Blackstock is the WORST professor I've had at Tech. I honestly don't know how he still has a job. He's rude, arrogant, and hateful. Being in his class was MISERABLE. He's completely unwilling to help and a jerk if you ask questions. I took him two quarters ago and I still get mad thinking about it. AWFUL professor!
Three tests, first test had 4 questions, second one had 6 questions, final was multiple choice and really easy. The first two tests require intense studying, but if you can survive them you should be fine. They are VERY hard. This is a true 400 level class, so do not expect an easy A. Come to class, take notes, and study EVERYTHING put on moodle.
He expects you to learn the material. This is not an easy class. He is a great teacher and really knows his stuff. He's one of those guys who is so intelligent that he makes you feel stupid when you talk to him. (socially awkward) arrogant. I enjoyed his class, but it wasn't easy.
A rude guy, but seemed to be a little more open to me when he realized I was taking the class seriously. Tests (short answer) are easy, but can be stressful because he is looking for a specific answer. Take his class if you are willing to read the text and you will get an A. If you don't read, but pay attention in class, you should get at least a B
He is arrogant and thinks that he is the only respectable person. Very clear though.
This is a tough class. Attendance isn't mandatory but you must go for the quizzes and lectures or it will be very hard to pass. The written exams are tough. Definitions and listing questions must be answered verbatim. The class exam average score is usually a D, but his lectures are interesting and he will make you like economics.
I got C-, and my grade should speak for his quality as a professor.
I loved this class. He explained things so that they were easy to understand and tests were EXACTLY what you did in class. I also thought he was funny but I have a weird sense of humor. Just go to class, take notes, and do your Aplia (w text online), and you will be alright. Overall, I liked him more than Bennett but to each his own.
Made me switch my major to economics. DO NOT MISS CLASS. Class notes are crucial to passing his tests. All tests are constructed response except for the final which is multiple choice, also cumulative. You learn a lot in this class. He's sort of arrogant but definitely knows his stuff. Lots of homework and daily quizzes. Take him if at all possible
I've had Blackstock for several Econ classes, the higher level the class the nicer he is. This is one of his favorite classes to teach, so he makes it very interesting. The tests are essay questions and you have to know how to combine lectures from different days to make a cohesive answer. Definitely recommend this class.
Very clear and easy to understand. He knows what he is talking about for sure. However, 89.9 is a B and homework is 25% of the grade. Would take again.
Blackstock is great but his class must be your top priority. Try to take this class during an easy quarter
I am a Junior at Lousiana Tech and have only had to drop one class in my entire time here. It was his class. I made a 10 on a test and like I said, never had to drop a class in my life. I would not take him again if my life depended on it.
The class isn't too hard and the material is also presented in an interesting way. His tests were pretty easy as long as you studied; the class average for the mid term was 95%. The daily quizzes will mess up you grade quick. he asks a question and gives you 3 minutes to respond, making you rush and make mistakes.
DON'T TAKE. Mr. Blackstock is very disrespectful. There are quizzes everyday at the beginning of class(must study every day to do good). The exams are tough except for the 1st. There is homework 2-3 imes a week(easy). The quizzes are the main problem, they don't help your grade whatsoever. If you are tardy and miss the quiz, you are counted absent.
Dr. Blackstock is great if you want to learn. There are daily quizzes and he expects you to know some material word for word for tests. He is nice to you if you pay attention and apply yourself. Memorization is frustrating but you appreciate it later when you don't have to rememorize stuff for higher classes. I always enjoy his lectures.
I LOVED 399. One of the hardest classes I've taken (avg 80pgs of reading/class) but I learned so much I didn't care. You read tons of articles, then discuss as a group in class (skip or don't talk? You'll fail). Blackstock is more chill than in lower classes, and very well read on the subject. Class discussion was always awesome.
He's solid, but this class isn't an easy A. The daily quizzes are what kill people. If you do good on the quizzes, you should be good for the test for the most part. Take good notes and do your Aplia homework online every day. He's kind of intimidating and can seem like a jerk but he just runs a tight ship. The material itself isn't too bad. Take.
He is a tough proffesor but the material is not that hard. I would never take him again. He is rude and not funny at all.
He is arrogant and disrespectful. If you try to speak up in class and your answer is wrong, he immidiately puts you down and makes you feel stupid, honestly. I would have much more respect for him if this was not the case. Tests are constructed response only. Will not take him for my second Econ class.
All he requires you to do is take notes and show up everyday. Nothing to hard to do. He runs a tight ship but if you apply yourself, you'll do just fine. 3 tests, all around 20 questions or so. If you study your notes and what he tell you, you'll pass.
Very disrespectful. If he would have some respect he would be half decent.
He's very rude. He downgrades you and is very rude. He makes his classes harder than what they need to be. Essay after essay.
Daily Quizzes and strict grading criteria make him one of the hardest teachers in the college of business. But if you want to learn and actually put in effort he is amazing at what he does. Great Lectures but he makes sure you learn or you will fail.
Don't him! I warned you thats all I need to say
Dr. Blackstock is very engaging and explains concepts well. I enjoyed this class a lot and found that having to prepare for the daily quizzes made studying for the tests a lot easier. The textbook isn't necessary to do well in the class, but I think reading it helped reinforce what I learned in the lectures.
His class is really hard but he just wants you to actually learn. My class started with almost 100 people and maybe 30-40 people passed. You have to study at least every other day because there are daily quizzes, but almost all the quizzes are test questions. Every test except the final was written response. As long as you study, you'll pass.
Probably the worst class Ive taken in my time at Louisiana Tech. I find him very rude, and his grading criteria ridiculous. Expects VERBATIM answers on tests rather than testing you on if you truly understand the material. Nonetheless, I did learn from the class if that matters to you.
Dr. B is an awesome professor, and his class is great for learning the basics of economics. To succeed in the class, do what youre already expected to do as a courteous human being: come to every class, dont be late, stay in your seat the whole time, dont talk while he is teaching, and take notes. Read and do all of the homeworkyou'll be fine.
I didn't do amazing in this class, but passed. But for someone looking for an A you will WORK for it. I understood well, just could not perform to his expectations every time which was fine because his lectures were GREAT. I enjoyed his class & the way he taught, wish every professor was like him. I learned a lot. Quizzes everyday so be prepared.
Encourages to attend all the events that are organized on the business campus. (Also gives extra credit to attend them) Loads of fun and real-world examples. Makes the questions and their answers very clear. You MUST attend the lectures, there is no reason not to. You always know your grades after each quiz and test and he also goes over the exam
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He offers extra credit but then backtracks on it. Encourages us to go to professional events but if it isn't hosted by COB then he says it's not worth it & disses it in class. A lot of essays. He's rude & condescending. More than half my class didn't pass & he said he's not changing how he teaches they need to change how they learn
Prof. Blackstock is an amazing professor with very engaging and fun lectures. He is a genuinely funny person and I really enjoyed his class, I wish every professor were like him. If you don't have your $#!@ together, you will fail. Show up to class, study for the regular quizzes, and study some more. Don't expect sympathy, he will not round up.
This class is relatively easy to pass, but you have to go to class. He is very strict on devices, and attendance is mandatory. Also, show up on time. The class material is fairly easy and everything is explained in the PowerPoints. There are pop quizzes everyday based on material from the previous lecture.
Blackstock gets a bad rap, but he's actually a really good teacher. Nice guy who makes teaching ECON relatable and funny. Quiz every day on lesson you learned day before (they're easy, just study). 3 tests, not cumulative. Just study everything you write down. I would definitely recommend him for ECON!
1/10. There is a quiz every class period which will affect your final grade if you don't study enough. Very nitpicky about grading. Will count off the whole question even if you get the answer correct and don't explain exactly the way he wants. Did fine on all tests, barely passed because of quizzes. You can't report him because he is the Dean.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Wish I would've been warned. He is very rude and disrespectful. After the first exam, he pulled up a dot plot of the last 300 students who failed the class and said "90% of the students who failed the first exam failed my class." Thanks, super helpful for a student who struggles with test anxiety. Hard grader.
The people that hate Blackstock are the people that want everything handed to them on a silver platter. He really is an amazing professor and makes the class very interesting and fun. If you show up and study, you will pass. Simple as that. His tests are difficult, but he also does quizzes every class that show exactly what will be on them.
1.) Does a quiz everyday so study up. 2.) Whenever you get a quiz back, carefully scan for any errors and remember it for exams. 3.) He seems intimidating at first (being 6' 7") but is actually a nice person and hilarious. 4.) Your attention is expected throughout the lecture, no cellphones and especially don't disrupt others.
Attendance is essentially mandatory because there is a quiz on the lecture you learned before. He may seem somewhat unapproachable, but he's actually really nice. You're going to have to put forth a little effort to make an A. However, it's not impossible. Tests are just like the quizzes, and he lets you know what's going to be on the quizzes.
A great professor - short quiz every class on the topics you learned the class before. Lectures are uploaded to Moodle so you can rewatch them whenever you need to. Three tests, not cumulative, and easy if you prepare for them. Gives easy extra credit opportunities. Would definitely recommend!
This is a great class to take online. I really enjoyed the class there was just a lot of homework you had to complete.
He is a good professor, very funny and overall enjoyed his class. Though, if you are an engineering student, I recommend taking ECON-201 instead, since it will be easier. Dr. Blackstock is a very tough grader and expects verbatim answers for mostly everything. His test are tough if you do not study you will not pass and he will tell you this.
LOVE this professor. His powerpoints are very informative, his quizzes demonstrate what you should have learned the last class, and I am seldom bored while in class. This was my first economics class and he went far and beyond in getting me hooked on the study in future! Highly recommend if you are willing to buckle down and learn, not memorize.
He lays out his criteria very clearly from the start and makes it clear where his lines are. His lectures are good at keeping attention and garnering interest. There is a short quiz everyday on the previous days subject which is easy as long as you paid attention. He also has lectures available online in the event a day is missed.
He is a pretty tough grader. Very nitpicky with points. You HAVE to pay attention in class if you want to excel the tests. He asks really niche questions in the tests. Also there are daily quizzes before classes which determine a lot of your grades. A little grumpy but not that bad.
Dr. Blackstocks class is not for the weak. There is a quiz at the start of every class, but the quizzes are a good grade boost. Memorize what he says in class word for word in order to do well on his tests. The students who don't like him/don't do well in his class are those who are not dedicated enough for college.
Professor Blackstock's ECON202 is challenging but engaging. Strict on attendance, but provides clear explanations and real-world examples. Quizzes daily, but Unstuck study helps with study prep. Overall, a rewarding experience.
Dr. Blackstock is a character, to say the least. Attendance "isn't mandatory," but you will have a quiz at the beginning of every class, so if you miss a day, that's a 0. His quizzes and tests reflect exactly what he lectures on in class, so write down as much as you can and study exactly that. Bonus opportunities are frequent; take them.
Very tough grader. To be able to pass you have to be very attentive. Quizzes everyday. Most test and quiz questions come from one of things he's mentioned in class once, there's study material given on canvas but that really doesn't cover most of the exams. His lectures are entertaining tho, he can be pretty funny sometimes. He's also very grumpy.
This guy is awesome. His teaching is very cut and dry, normally reciting his own slideshows or online articles and charts, and rarely seems to get carried away speaking about something unrelated to the class. His style makes it very easy to stay engaged and the humor he applies to some of the topics also encourages people to keep listening.
Blackstock brings so much to the table for those who want to really learn economics(plus he's so funny). Attendance isn't mandatory, but there's a quiz everyday over the previous lecture, so if you don't go your grade will go down. There's 3 exams and bonus opportunies everyday(answering questions). And he cares, even though he acts like he doesn't.
