He's a real stickler and kind of femmy, but he seems to have a general interest in who and what he teaches. Teaches very thorough
This class was a nightmare. Very hard; he gives some general guidelines, then makes us figure out the rest. Seems to expect that everyone should already be an Access wiz. He doesn't have much patience, and he loves to "teach people lessons" under the guise of "preparing us for the real world." Outside of class, he's a really nice guy - strange.
Would never recommend this teacher to anyone. Wasn't helpful, came off very rude and arrogant. Didn't teach the material well.
A little bit on a power trip. Only wish there was another teacher who taught the class. Maybe take it online through another school and transfer the credits.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!! He could care less about you, unprepared teaching style, rediculously long tests, no mercy, no assistance, doesn't check for understanding, rude, and all around the worst teacher I've had in all 4 years of being here.
I cringe everytime I have to walk into the classroom. If he would respect us, I would respect him. If he would actually teach us, I would listen. If I thought it were actually possible to get a good grade, I would try. But he doesn't and it isn't, if you like your sanity, take another teacher, it may even be worth it to change your major.
This is for anyone thinking about enrolling in this class. I have 3 words for you, DON'T DO IT!!! You can thank me later. . . You would think that the fact enrollment in his class continues to plummet to almost nothing would be a sign that theres something wrong. I'm sure he's a great guy outside of the classroom, but definately not in it.
356 is an ABSOLUTELY USELESS class to any accounting student. He is an egoist who justifies his laziness with "I want you to do it on your own" crap. Newsflash for him and BYUI acctg dept: Nobody uses Access in everyday setting! Do yourself a favor, take a Galbraith business class to learn Excel so that you look good the first day on the job.
I thought his class was fun and his humor is helarious. If you do your projects on time it is just fine. Check your projects with him. I hate accounting and I managed just fine
Clarke teaches this class very well. He has genuine interest in both the students and the subject. He has high expectations of his students. If you do not prepare for this class you won't get a satisfactory grade. I believe that the students that complain about Clarke/this class are the ones who did not put forth the effort a undergrad should.
i thought that bro. clarke was a really good teacher. he actually has real life experience. dry sense of humor. he expects you to do your part. if you do, he helps out.

Clarke is an interesting guy. He isn't very helpful, and I think he is rude (disguising being rude as being "real world"). However, I thought his teaching style was good. Doesn't assign homework - but it would really help if he did.
Brother Clarke is a really nice guy on a personal basis, but as soon as he steps into the classroom he becomes an egotistical jerk. He makes students scared to ask him questions. He knows his stuff, but he doesn't really seem to care about students all that much. I'm not sure why he chose to be a professor. Oh, and he's the hardes teacher I've had.
He is a good teacher. He actually makes it understandable. All you have to do is go to class and the group assignemnts.

Clarke is a very good teacher. If you are looking to be spoon -fed or for an easy A, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a challenging learning experience--this is the class. Keep up with the work, don't slack off, and you will be great. Many students can't handle his no nonsense, real life approach, but if you are an adult, you will be fine.
Clarke is indecisive in what he actually wants his class to accomplish. And he is overly confident in his knowledge. The class material isn't difficult, he makes it more difficult with his "i know everything" attitude.
Clarke is brilliant, but doesn't understand students. His class requires way too much time because he sets homework based on how long it takes him. To pass, let your family know you'll be back at the end of the semester. Your time will be spent working or you won't finish. Don't let him know you're frustrated or he'll make you feel worse about it.
His jokes aren't funny... He criticizes you if you ask questions.. He teaches material for 3 months that doesn't help at all when it comes time to do the project.... He doesn't use a text book, which in this case sucks because you can't ask classmates for help. He needs to learn how to teach.
Funny! Homework is intense. His test database has been the quizzes on the textbook website. If you ace those, you could ace the class. Very Helpful.
Good teacher. He's very personable (outside of class). In class he likes to joke around and be sarcastic, but he really will listen to your questions outside of class. His class is intense, but you learn a lot.
Great guy outside of class, but he wants everyone to complete unreasonable hours. He's a genius with computers, so he teaches way too fast for most people. I would not take this class unless you have to for the acct major. If you take the class, plan to spend twice as much time on this class as you do on your next hardest class.
He expects you to fulfill your duty. Do your homework, come to class, and research on your own time. If you can do this you will do very well. I really like his no-nonsense style. It may be an aquired tatse admittedly. Great class!
He can be rude at times when addressing student questions and belittling in his remarks. He isn't very helpful when you ask questions and expects way too much work-there aren't enough hours in the day. If you have a chance to take a different professor, I would. It's a shame that he's the only professor who teaches some of the accounting courses.
He is very no nonsense. If you miss a class kiss your grade good bye, extremely difficult to catch up. He is a computer quiz i'm sure he knows more stuff then some CIT professors. I hear that Galbraith is the excel king this guy would run circle around Galbraith's excel skills. He's hard but too bad! If your acct student plan your sche accordingly
Huge ego, worthless class. Nightmare. Soured my college and eventually career experience, and not because the class was hard.
He made me feel like a complete idiot for asking questions. I love accounting. And he announced that he hated it at the beginning of the semester. GREAT. Then he said, don't read the text book, just skim what I tell you. That pretty much messed me up for the whole semester. I wasn't able to understand anything. Smart man, but not a great teacher.
Kinda cocky, but is a good teacher. makes you do things on your own. only thing that got to me was his pride.
This is the type of class that you will get what you give. Brother Clarke will certainly go the extra mile to help you if he sees that you have given a real effort on your own. This class was the funnest one I have ever taken. I learned a ton about Excel.
I would run for my life if I were you!!!! He is cocky and arrogant and thinks he knows everything and he thinks the students are nothing but a bunch of idiots. he taught us nothing, asked us questions, then laughed when we didn't get it. i wonder why we didn't get it!
They have standardized ACCTG 202 so the homework, quizzes and test are the same from all the professors. Brother Clarke does a pretty good job of explaining the material but expects students to put in enough time outside of class to really grasp the concepts. Not a hard course if you show up for class and prepare on your own.

He expects you to be accountable for your own work and grade. No retakes, No late work, Hardly any extra credit...Gee it sounds like real life! maybe that's why students don't like him. They have a hard time being responsible and reading the syllabus. Life sure is rough, having to turn projects in on time and all.
Arrogant, has quizzes at the beggining of class and you are not given enough time to read all the options. He assumes students are all lazy or stupid. He knows his stuff but isn't good at teaching it to students.

Well first of all with his personality Rob is black or white with no gray. Don't bother to ask about rounding up with grades or curves, he will launch into a diatribe of the world doesnt work that way. He does not agree with the schools new teaching method of students helping students. He considers this cheating.
He's a good teacher. He knows his stuff and teaches it well (or gives you the tools to figure it out). He has strict policies but what do you expect from a university professor? It's not an easy class but you can learn a lot of good stuff. Other people probably don't like him because they are lazy and don't put in the effort.
Hardest class I've ever taken! I've done very well in college and kept a good GPA, but the work for this is insane and I did not do well! It's pretty much learn on your own and use the tutor for every assignment. I just didn't have 20 free hours each week to spend on this class, which is what this class requires. Good luck if you take this class!
I think this class is very useful and everyone should take it. Some of the concepts are difficult to understand, but Excel is used almost every day everywhere. During my internship, a lot of people (even managers) asked me for help in excel. Br Clarke is great at teaching the material, some of it you have to learn on your own, but that's life.
He expects you to figure out how to fulfill assignments without even showing you how. Which leads me to think, "Why I am I paying the school when I am learning this all on my own from a textbook?" What purpose does he serve? At first, I had a hard time with the underlying arrogant attitude, but I learned to turn a deaf ear. You will work HARD!
Loved his classes. I read the reviews and laughed at most of them. I took 356 and 333 in the same semester, once you learn his teaching style he is a great teacher. After moving on to a different university I realized that he is not as arrogant as most of the PHDs you will find else were and more willing to help. Do the work, he is there if you ask
Bro. Clarke is amazing. He's very good at clearing up any concepts that you do not understand (provided you ask). He has a very dry and cynical sense of humor so if you have thin skin get it thicker. He also calls out the dead beats in class, which is very entertaining
This class would have been a nightmare if I had not had taken CIT 203 before. That class will prepare you to be a good programmer, is taught at a slow pace, and is pretty easy. I wouldn't take 333 without cit 203
Great teacher! He expects you to be an adult and mature enough to go to him with questions. If you need help he will help you. He's happy to help as long as you put the work in, which is the way it should be.
I went over one minute on a presentation and the 89% went to a 69%. You do not get points for being in class, but you lose points for missing.
One of my favorite classes I've taken, but this is a class that is not for the faint-hearted. Most of the material will be learned on your own. Spent entire weekends learning the material, and expect to spend at least 50 hours or more on the final project.
Rob Clarke is one of the best professors in the program. He expects professionalism and does not accept mediocrity. Anyone taking his class should be ready for some honest hard work. However, when you are done you will walk away with valuable skills that students from other universities will not have.
Clarke is arrogant for sure. He loves the power he holds over your head and will use it without remorse. He does teach some valuable skills but is an egomaniac about how his classes are just oh so important for the real world. He makes u wonder how u did on things and has unreasonable time limits on impromptu quizzes. Never want to see him again.
Worst Accounting Professor I have experienced. I knew how to code but I got zeros on quizzes for code that worked properly but were not the way he wanted it. Honestly he was not helpful for the project or quiz or any part of the class.
Great professor! Anyone who complains about this professor just didn't put in the work. I always had plenty of time to complete the quizzes in class, if not too much time. This class is not time consuming, maybe 3-5 hours a week max, until the project, which might be more like 8-10. None of his expectations are too hard but the material is crucial.
Best accounting teacher I have ever had. His class is hard and he will challenge you but it is the one class that I really feel like was worth it. Most other classes the teacher has you memorize random stuff and it is seemingly useless for the rest of your life. This class is very useful. This teacher is amazing. He is strict but its good for you.
This man can be harsh at times but it is really only when a student is not putting forth the effort. He can tell if you are trying and if you try in his class he will help you. I really loved his classes. He stretches your and it is a real challenge but I feel like he has helped prepare me for my career more than any other teacher on this campus.
Great class and great teacher. This class will teach you something that no other class in college does as effective, that is to learn on your own and problem solve. I left this class with the confidence that I can accomplish anything I try to learn. Those who hate this class are used to being spoon fed answers from textbooks. Follow instructions.
Worst teacher I have ever had. He makes you do writing assignments on topics you literally know nothing about, and when you spend several hours compiling all you can on the subject, you get a 60% because it wasn't what he wanted you to write. HE DOESN'T TEACH AT ALL, and yet expects perfection. Unlike the writing assignments, the Access hw is fine
His style of teaching is NEW to many, learn how he teachers and you do find. He expected you to do a lot of work outside of class and learn more by yourself. Honesty is a bit prideful, and don't stop by his office without an appointment. Just make sure you know that materials, he is not a good student teacher relationship guy.
He is an interesting professor he is unclear. The coarse was awful and I would not recommend it.
Expects you to LEARN ON YOUR OWN the advanced material through a project and online module. You'll spend a lot of unnecessary class time doing TV calculations (EASY), but will feel rushed doing VBA (HARD). If you ask why he grades and teaches the way he does he will reply with "I'm preparing you for the real world."
He thinks that his classes are the most important classes and therefore requires you to spend more time in them than any other class. It's a good thing he only teaches two upper level accounting classes, otherwise I would have switched schools or majors. I can't imagine him teaching intermediate accounting since he expects you to learn on your own.

Hardest course in the acctg program. Think about the workload in your hardest class and then double it for this one. Way more than reasonable. I graduated with a 3.7, so I'm a decent student, but this class was ridiculous.
Honestly for the 101 class, he's the man. Hes nice if you come to class and pay attention, helps you be a better student, very strict on deadlinestime limits, only had 3 exams (more quizzes), homework isnt too hard, I thought he was pretty funny, serious about rules, meeting w was tough, strongly encourages you to major in accounting-it worked.
All the rumors about Clarke are true. He's ridiculous but he believes that he has no flaws. When he makes a mistake the students pay the price. Too bad nobody else teaches 456. Take 333 from Campbell as well.
I took a few accounting classes from Clarke and he is a tough teacher. However I learned the most from him. He will not let you get an easy A but he will make you learn the material like the back of your hand. He is an excellent teacher and his classes will help you with your career. Looking back I loved everything about him he just grades hard.

Clarke is rude and prideful. Do not expect him to teach or help you at all. I am shocked that he was hired here because he is the exact opposite of what the church teaches. The class is difficult in nature, but he goes above and beyond to make it near impossible. Don't ask a question and expect a polite response. He will make you feel worthless. :(
Bro Clarke is the type of teacher who is strict and stern at the beginning of the semester, and then relaxed and funny the last part of the semester. He is strict on grading, but is fair and understanding. He follows the honor code strictly, with no phones, hats, or headphones. I learned alot from his class.
Hes smart and I got a good grade. Those are the only positive things I can say because I have such little respect for him. He makes Donald Trump a humble giant. If you have an idea of what Christ like love is, I would put him on the other end of the spectrum. You can get a good grade, but the way he treats students will make you question humanity.
If you were to picture the most Christlike person that you can imagine, brother Clark would be the opposite of that ? There is no doubt that in the whole city of Rexburg and even the whole state of Idaho there is not a man that lacks more character integrity or Christ like love as this man. Not upset with his teaching. I'm upset that this university would hire such a cruel man. After being in his class you will definitely question if the people that selected him were led by the Spirit. He's everything I hope my kids learn to stand up against. He is just an all-around heartless man.
The structure of the class made it very difficult to be successful (esp. 333B). Tricky final exam, timed quizzes (not enough time), no help on the project except from Brother Clarke himself. Every assignment heavily weighted. However, he did help me when I had made an effort and asked him. He has the "Figure it out," mentality/philosophy.
Brother Clark is a good man but he is very sarcastic which put a very negative spin on the class. I personal struggled in the class because he comes off mean and rude with his sarcasm. My lowest grade this semester was in this intro to accounting class. I would not suggest taking any class from him but every man to his own
I want to give some perspective now that I'm well into my career. I currently work in the tax department in a Fortune 200 company. I have never used the skills that he teaches and have never run into anyone that focuses on VBAs in acctg. His arrogance, smugness, and constant degradation alone is enough to avoid his class. Avoid if you can.
Brother Clarke's teaching style is unusual for BYU-I, and I can sympathize with other reviewers who view him negatively. He's knowledgeable to be sure, and he can teach students useful skills. But from my perspective, he also seemed to take some sort of joy in being unkind to his students. Hopefully he'll soften up over time.
ACCTG333B: tough; but favorite class of the ACCTG major! thx to the stellar way Bro Clark taught it and also its very useful. Bro Clark gives clear guidelines and great online resources. Also, the project is designed to help you learn to research how to do VBA on your own and I learned tons from it. Stern, but a Christlike guy. Take his class.
Brother Clarke knows his stuff, I would definitely suggest taking this class from him. Just don't expect someone to kiss your boo boos when you don't understand something. His personality can be a bit jarring and you may not like him, but you'll learn a lot and well you're not here to get another friend you're here to learn something, get to work
Bro Clarke is not sarcastic or mean the way people say, he's a great professor and he's very sincere and caring. Maybe he's changed since those reviews. The subject is difficult and he expects you to learn before class, expect to struggle if you're not willing to put in lots of time. Great class, definitely my favorite one in the major so far!

Take 333B from Clarke!! Brother Clarke really is such a kind guy!! He gets a bad rap, but he is an AMAZING teacher and is ALWAYS willing to help if you ask. He will help you out with your code if you come into his office and he helped out a TON in class on the project. Highly recommend!! Love him!
I was expecting not to like him based on previous reviews. He was a good teacher who taught clearly and was approachable during office hours. He is more knowledgeable with VBA than Campbell. He is very helpful during the project when you get stuck. I was scared of this class because of the VBA project, but it ended up being very rewarding.
AWFUL! No respect for his students, and is not willing to communicate well with. His arrogant way makes the class very dreary, and he usually picks on some students, and likes to make fun of them. He also has a rude way of interacting with his students, and has zero sense of empathy. DO NOT TAKE CLASSES FROM HIM! He does not care about you at all.
Bro. Clark is super nice and funny. Will take time to tell stories that are very funny. He is super generous with tons of extra credit opportunities and didnt give much homework besides reading two short books. Tests were easy but thats just me since Im going to major in accounting. Other than that. Hes a really good teacher
He seems to have changed as time has gone on. He used to be more hardcore, but seems to have calmed down. Outside of his job, he is a humorous and respected man. I think that he is just assigned to teach classes that are in general not set up very well. He does his best, but BYU-Idaho should maybe change 333. Part B is neat, but part A is useless.

Bro. Clarke made it really easy to learn accounting. In class, he is thorough and open to questions when you don't understand. If I hadn't been in class, I wouldn't have passed the class because going to class is essential in this course.
He gave extra credit, I needed it! Do the work and reading, you should be fine. He has some humor and helpful lectures. Very light homework but reading can seem intense at times. I switched to accounting because of his class. Really enjoyed the class time. No cellphones or other distractions at all, don't even think about it. 4 quizzes, mid,&final.
He is straight up and jokes a ton with the students. If you're easily offended and don't understand sarcasm then you will hate him. He gives tons of extra credit opportunities and the class is very easy.
Bro. Clarke teaches a difficult class (333B), and he certainly doesn't go out of his way to make it easy. That being said, if you are willing to grind through some difficult moments and work hard- you'll be fine. I had zero experience coding and was able to work my butt off and pass. Willing to help if the students will help themselves.
Brother Clarke is very good at his job. He is very funny and often reminds me of Micheal from the office (the humor and way of talking). He helps you to understand VERY basic accounting principles. Fair warning: this class is very basic and literally anyone could get an A if they tried.
Brother Clarke is an excellent teacher. He loves talking about pizza which is always fun. He can be firm at times but never mean. He just wants what is best for us. I would suggest taking Intro to Accounting from him.
Awful professor. Is not willing to work with you on special circumstances. The way he talks is very demeaning and makes you feel dumb. He makes the class more difficult than it has to be. If you are stuck he just asks you what you think until you figure it out or decide to give up and leave. Do not take a class from him.

Brother Clarke is a very very good professor. He teaches simple, and his classes are hard because the material of the class is hard to understand. A lot of people don't like him because they think he is a bad professor, but I am telling those are the students who don't work hard enough for a good grade. Don't miss class and you will be fine.
Probably the most standoffish and uncaring teacher in the entire accounting department. Given, students need to work hard for this type of class, but he sure doesn't seem to like to explain his logic, reasoning, or grading. To be clear, he is not your advocate and as as he says: would appreciate a semester where everyone just drops the class.
Acctg 333B is VERY HARD if you have little background in programing. Brother Clarke expects you to already know it and teach yourself. He does not answer questions and homework is very hard. The directions are not very clear and there is little help or extra support for you.

This professor is the most difficult professor that I have worked with since I started college 4 years ago. I came down with Covid in the middle of the semester and he refused to give me more time. He is condescending and disrespectful of students. Even if you have been waiting over 30 minutes, if his office hour is over, then you're out of luck!
Brother Clarke is a terrible teacher. Prepare for an english class rather than accounting. He is also tougher on you than your english professors ever will be. Very demeaning when talking to students. He never was rude towards me, but I saw how he did it to others. The project isn't too bad, but we can't go to the TA's if we need help. Then why do we have TA's then? Only for the first 2 months of class? We can only ask him questions about the project and that's frustrating. Overall, frustrating class!
Short. Rude. Defensive. Instructions not clear for any of the assignments. The class has such useful information that would be great to learn but Bro. Clarke does such a horrible job at teaching it. His T.A.s do all the grading and the test is impossible. It took me longer to complete homework in this 1 credit class than any of my senior classes.
The way he seems to delight in students' misery and struggles when talking about how hard he grades is beyond repulsive. Half of the semester is dedicated to assignments that are only worth 10%, then he puts 5 quizzes and an exam worth 55% in total in one week, no notes of course. Under no circumstances should you take this teacher. Please don't.

Brother Clarke was super short and tempermental. He is not good at explaining any of the concepts, if I ever had any questions about a concept being taught in class he would then ask if you did the reading or not. If you didnt do the reading then he would act all passive agressive about not doing reading. Taking a class from him is a nightmare.
Brother Clarke is amazing! I had him for intermediate financial accounting and for 333B and I enjoyed both classes. He prepares his students super well for the exams. The material he teaches can be challenging at times but I never felt uncomfortable asking questions in class and he was eager to help during his office hours. Super great!
One of the most Machiavellian teachers I've ever had. Will not answer questions if he said it one time in class. TAs grade assignments, but they cannot answer any questions about your grade. You have to go to B. Clarke, and if he takes a look at it, he regrades it entirely, so you risk a lower grade. No mercy. Manipulates with fear.
Worst teacher I have ever had. He is very unmerciful and is unnecessarily difficult. Going into office hours is not the greatest idea because you run the risk of having a worse grade because of his "review" of your assignment. Absolutely backward. If you can, take a different teacher for 333b.
I guess some people hate him, but I found Brother Clarke to be a great professor. The class size was small, which allowed for more one-on-one teaching and a friendly class atmosphere. He's rather strict and his sense of humor is dry, but he's also very smart and cares about his students. I took 333B from him the same semester.

Offers no help inside or outside of class, all learning is by videos. If you miss class, Rob will not tell you what you missed. Grading is very specific ("-4 due to using 9pt font instead of 8pt"). 55% of grade is determined in week 8; 5 quizzes and an exam which has no study guide. He doesnt care about you or your grade. You have to teach yourself how to learn ACC333, would not take from him if you can. strict about the most miniscule details. Dont know how he is teaching when he doesnt care about his students unless your succeeding.
Brother Clarke did an excellent job of preparing students for the real world. He is tough, won't answer the same questions multiple times, and he expects complete attention to detail (real life people). He is completely accessible outside of class though and he will help you if you put in the effort. It was hard but I learned so much from the class
He is a good teacher and the best financial accounting teacher I have had. He made me understand the class. He will always let you know if you are passing the class by just asking him. I personally haven't had trouble with his class.
I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I think it's great that he holds you 100% responsible for everything and that he teaches that you get to decide where you spend your time, and if it's not in his class, that's your decision. But on the other hand, I feel like he's pointless strict about some things. Like things that don't really matter.
Brother Clarke is a good professor. The 301 class is very hard and he does not teach in class. I always thought that I knew things until the test. The tests are very heavy, 70% of your grade. It felt like an online class where you have to do all things yourself. Also he never discusses homework in class.
Brother Clarke is the absolute worst teacher I have ever had. Super strict and disrespects his students openly. I don't mind strict teachers but he is a straight up b. He expects perfection and makes you feel stupid when you ask for help or clarification. VBA wasn't difficult but he would not help you better understand it. Avoid him at all costs!
It's literally an online class that you have to show up in person for. He doesn't teach you anything that will be in the exams so unless you already know a lot of stuff about accounting be prepared to spend every spare minute you have to memorizing every little equation there is. Also dont worry about asking questions, he wont answer them in class.
This is a hard class, but bro clarke explains everything great. I felt well prepared for the exams. Just do all of the work and you will be fine.
Very hard class, but Bro Clarke understands the material inside and out, very smart guy. He is a hard grader, but I like him as a person. However you will know who he likes and who he doesn't.
Quite simply, he does not care. He is a tough grader, struggles to teach, and can be very condescending
Brother Clarke is a strict but fair professor. He cares about his students and he wants them to succeed in this course. With that being said his demeanor may be intimidating and standoffish, however if you go to his office hours and show a true effort to learn the material then he will do everything in his power to help you pass the course.
Thoroughly enjoyed learning about VBA and love it, but the things I didn't know I was scared to ask. He is a little intimidating and condescending when students ask questions. This class is one of the "Most failed" and it feels like he takes some pride in that. I don't mind him being picky about assignments but I wish he would be more approachable
In retrospect, he planted one of the seeds for me to eventually leave the Church. Cruel to some students and it appeared like he enjoyed hurting them.
