He is super caring and very chill. Take this class :))
Very considerate and willing to offer his time and help. The only hard part about this class was that he occasionally got a little distracted, but he knows a lot about anatomy and is a very involved instructor. I was very grateful for all the extra credit opportunities. He definitely is very flexible in his course expectations.
Brother Coleman is super awesome. He is good and goes in depth and teaches everything that will be on the tests. He is super awesome to work with if you are struggling and is super willing to help. He has been an awesome professor and I would for sure take the class from him again.
He is a great guy and cares a lot! He is very willing to help however he does get distracted during class very easily!
This proffesor is good, but has a lot of videos to watch after class and I can't really learn like that. As long as you can learn by videos, you should be able to get a good grade.
Brother Coleman, is funny, he is kind, and willing to work with you to help you learn material. He likes to teach in a way that gives you a preview on things later in the chapter before teaching the things first in the chapter, which allows more learning time on everything. This class is test based, and there is no homework, other than readings.
Very funny life stories
Brother Coleman is an excellent Bio 264 teacher. He breaks down lessons so that students can pick up the task and topic. He also provides tons of extra credit, so if you ever feel behind or need that little push to improve your grade, no worries, he's got you covered.
Brother Coleman is a really nice guy and you can tell he genuinely cares about his students. He's there for you when you need help and is happy to work with you. At times his lectures can be a little confusing when he goes off on random tangents, but it's honestly just a hard class in general.
He is a fun guy to talk to, but quite a boring teacher. he didn't do a great job at engaging the class, and it's very lecture heavy.
He is a very good professor. He has his heart in this job. He cares about what he is doing. The class is very easy. If you submit the assignments, you will do just fine in the course.
He's a cool/funny guy. I went to class the first couple weeks, then people stopped showing up then I stoped showing up to class. And I just did the assignments at home and I have an A from doing that. I think he's an awesome teacher.
He is a phenomenal teacher, who brings open ideas to the table for others to judge and have an opinion for themselves. Awesome to have taken his class!
I really enjoyed the course material however Brother Coleman tends to get sidetracked and sometimes he was more confusing when teaching us the material. I definitely learned more from reading the textbook and watching the prerecorded lectures than I ever learned from the teacher. So if you want to teach yourself, I would take this class.
Such an awesome teacher! He's so kind and generous and has great discussions where everyone gets to participate and give their thoughts. I learned so much and always looked forward to going to class. He teaches in a fun and easy way to learn and to participate. Highly recommend taking him!
Brother Coleman is amazing. He makes it a priority to make time for his students. He holds a review session every week outside of class which helped so much. He is hilarious and very generous. If someone gives a bad review, it is because they did not put forth the time and effort of asking him for help and studying enough on their own time.
I really enjoyed going to his lectures! I'm pretty sure he made me laugh every time. He's a really cool guy that meets you at your level and helps you succeed. I enjoyed his spiritual thoughts and humor, it made the tough class more enjoyable. He also knows his stuff; super smart. He can get off on tangents, but overall is a solid professor.
Coleman is a great person but not the best professor. He tends to get off topic about things which leads to him falling behind in the material. He is so kind though and will work with you always. He wants all of his students to succeed. He is very approachable and does his best to make class interesting. He just needs to stay on topic with discussion
Coleman is a great person but as a professor he has a hard time staying on topic. The best thing to do for this class is to go to tutoring. BIO 264 is already known for being hard, expect to teach yourself. He is easy to connect and will always help you. He wants you to succeed. There is not many chances for extra credit though which makes it hard.
I can't take Coleman seriously as a professor. I stopped going to class 4 weeks in because he wouldn't cover content we need to know and I went to tutoring and other lectures instead. Watch all the course videos, complete the chapter quizzes, and talk to other BIO students or tutors for questions and you'll be fine. I ended with an A in the class.
was a good teacher not as amazing at keeping to one though very scatterbrained.
Brother Coleman is a good teacher and truly cares about each student in his classes. During the first few classes, he'd get sidetracked and talk about something random and we'd fall behind/not cover what we needed to; however, as the semester went on, he did a great job of teaching everything we needed to know and preparing us for all our exams.
Brother Coleman is super awesome! He is so willing to work with you, and is super great! I had some family emergencies and he helped me and was super great about making sure to record class so I did not miss anything. I enjoyed this class a lot. He truly cares and takes the time to make sure you get help!
Brother Coleman was a fantastic professor! We often didn't get through all the planned material for lectures, but there was always enough material posted to finish anything that wasn't covered, and Brother Coleman always made sure we knew what was most important to study and know for the tests.
I would 100% take brother Coleman again. He is ready to help you if you are ready to learn, listen and participate in class activities.
Brother Coleman is great. He's really funny and great at explaining things.
He is easy when it comes to homework and lets you turn in late work. You can do other homework in his class and his assignments are easy for the most part.
He's a good teacher with very text-heavy slides. It worked best for me to listen to him and only write what he emphasizes. The grades in his classes usually are mostly tests and a project. His tests are nice because they don't have a time limit and you can take them at your own pace and leave them on in the background while going about your day.
Robert Coleman is a fantastic human being. He cares deeply for students and people in general. His lectures are very boring and mundane. He does not prepare us well for his tests. On the subject of tests, that is about all we were graded on in this class. It is pretty tough to pass the class if you are learning these things for the first time here.
Coleman is a great man and is very knowledgeable about plant ecology. His lectures can be hard to engage with and pay attention to as he frequently gets off topic and/or super in depth. The main thing your grade depends on is exam scores and the exams in this course take some getting used to. Could've enjoyed it more overall.
Brother Coleman is a really cool guy and his approach to the gospel and the Environmental Stewardship class was engaging. There were no tests or quizzes, our grade was completely reliant on doing an assignment once a week that took about 15 minutes to complete. The EASIEST class I have ever taken.
Excellent professor the only thing is for the lab pay attention as the details and instructions for conducting the HAF collection surveys was a little unclear other than that. Great throughout the semester and enjoyable class and lectures. Be aware that sometimes he gets a little sidetracked so he might not get through specific materials.
Phenomenal instructor. His excitement for the material is contagious and he really helps inspire an awe and respect for the natural world. He is also a really cool human being and cares a lot about his students. He has hilarious stories. Only thing is his tests are brutal and difficult to study for--but he always curves them so that's nice.
This class was a lot of lecture and not much discussion. You had to take daily quizzes, but they're not too difficult.
Professor Coleman is wonderful as a person, but his teaching style was not a good fit for me. His classes are very lecture heavy, and not interactive enough for all of the information to stick with you. If you learn well from lengthy lectures then he may be a good fit for you but if you do not I would not suggest him. He is hilarious though.
Professor Coleman is an excellent lecturer. He asks you questions, answers your questions, values your feedback, and cares for you genuinely as a student. His spiritual thoughts and stories at the beginning of class are what makes my day.
The EASIEST class I've taken. Homework was easy, maybe 15mins a week. To be honest, I didn't learn much. The course was being redesigned so the class layout and syllabus were not so clear. It's lecture heavy, and Brother Coleman is very nice and caring. Since this class was being redesigned, it might be different in the future semesters.
Coleman was a great teacher, and I enjoyed the class 'Sustaining Human Life'. While he would sometimes go off-topic, he did it to cover things he felt was important. A very kind professor and it is an easy class if you show up and take notes. It allows you to think deeper too, if you want to.
I love Brother Coleman! He's funny and cares about student success. I can't say for sure what his classes are normally like, as this semester he's been reconstructing the course. He was honest and upfront about what it would look like at the beginning of the semester. This course was lecture heavy, so if you learn well that way I highly recommend.
This class was awesome. There were no quizzes, tests, or exams that we had to take. All of our credit came from turning in helpful suggestions of class and turning in articles that we though Brother Coleman would like to use for this class. Overall, one of the easiest and best classes there is. Brother Coleman is so funny!
I found that Professor Coleman does a good job with caring for his students, while providing a clear balance between work and lectures. Never really had any burnout from work overload either, which I was grateful for. However, I did struggle to pay attention in class at times, which affected what I was able to learn.
Brother Coleman was very thorough with his lectures and it was always open to a very deep conversation during class. You can learn a lot if you want to, and the class is easy to pass.
Brother Coleman was a great teacher for Environmental Stewardship. I took the class to fulfill my science credit for generals, but actually learned some helpful stuff. Most of the class was structured around lectures, so get ready to listen! He does know his stuff though and makes great jokes to keep you entertained. Overall the class was great!
Not difficult & really funny. :)
I really enjoy having Rob Coleman as a teacher. I have learned a lot of interesting things in his class. You can also do other homework in his class. At least that was how a lot of students did in Sustaining Human Life. I don't know about his other classes. I can turn in late assignments for full credit.
Brother Coleman is super funny! He has been a great teacher for me and my class he is knowledgeable about the material and can make sure he teaches his students and let them know how to save our environment
Not much is expected of you in this course, but there is a lot to get out of it if you put the work in. This discussion-based class generally works better when people are prepared to discuss. The teacher is pretty good he will state his opinion but it is not considered the law and you are welcome or encouraged to debate on any given topic.
Brother Coleman is an amazing professor who cares about his students. I took Environmental Stewardship from him but the class was a little different due to the redesign of the class and lectures. We didn't have any quizzes or exams and very little homework for this reason but that might change. Learned a lot. Would recommend this class/professor.
The homework was very light and easy, but that could change in the future because the course was actively being revised when I took it. As for Coleman himself, he's a great professor. He knows his material well and actually lives by it. He genuinely cares for his students and encourages meeting with him outside of class. He's also really funny.
Brother Coleman is very kind and really wants to support his students. So if you ever need help just go ask. His lectures were a little tough to sit through but he always added some comedic bits and tried to have discussions when he could. I learned more than I thought I would and truly he is a great professor.
Pay close attention to his lectures
Brother Coleman is a very fun professor. He helps make lectures interesting and is fun to talk to!
Great professor, was very caring and wants to support his students anyway he can. Lectures have a lot of rambling but he still makes class fun.
Professor Rob has a very sound understanding of the material and can convey it very well. Overall a great teacher. Make sure to ask questions and be an active learner so you can get the most out of the class.
Honesty this class made me feel like I was on a roller-coaster but like blind folded. I knew I wasn't going to die but I had no idea what was coming next. Sometimes things are graded within a few days sometimes weeks which made me stressed out but then he would curve the test so I was always mostly okay.
Many tangents, but you get the information. Great guy, will be in his class next semester.
Great professor. You can tell he cares about his students.
Overall, this was a good class to learn more about range plants and the communities they live in. Definitely pay attention to his lectures, write down things he says and draws on the boards. It's okay to ask questions, especially in the lab. Ask to see if you're doing it right.
I thoroughly enjoyed classes with Brother Coleman. In each class, he shared inspirational thoughts and personal stories to bring to light the difficult realities of life while tying in spirituality and the environment. He respected us as students and was very personable and relatable. His lectures were clear and concise and included student's input
He is amazing and ready to help you understand the course and pass it.
he is a good professor
I wholeheartedly recommend Brother Coleman. His teaching style, commitment to student success, and passion for the subject matter combine to create an enriching educational experience. It was a privilege to be part of their class, and I am confident that future students will benefit immensely from their expertise and dedication.
He is really awesome and genuinely cares about his students. He provides time for anyone to meet with him for help and explains his assignments/material in a simple to understand way.
Rob Coleman is a great human being. He cares for his students and wants to see them succeed. It's really hard to know what is and what is not going to be on his tests because he goes on a lot of side tangents. Your grade mostly comprises of tests which makes the tests extra stressful. But when I asked him for help he was more than willing to help.
I really enjoyed how Coleman would bring up political and religious issues at the beginning of class, but since our class periods were only an hour, many times that meant half of the class was just talking about something unrelated to the course work. He's a solid teacher, just wished there were more questions instead of lecturing. Funny and kind.
Coleman is a wonderful professor and very personable. He cares about each student and is willing to work with you throughout the semester.
I really enjoyed Professor Rob Coleman. He is a great teacher and I recommend taking any class from him. As for the material itself I found it really interesting. The coursework is a great way to practice research, reading, interpreting skills. The work is not difficult, give yourself the right amount of time to look over the material.
Coleman is great! I definitely recommend paying attention in class, as a lot of the material you need to know comes directly from what he says. He will often hint towards quiz questions with things he says, so take notes!!
He is much more personable than other teachers as he shares his life experiences with the lessons we learn
Coleman is the best! He really made the class a comfortable experience while teaching so much with his talent
This class is very lecture-heavy, but the material is interesting. Brother Coleman cares about his students, and loves participation.
Coleman is the best! I really enjoyed taking his class this semester, it was one of the only ones I looked forward to going to and it was all because of the professor! Everything I needed to know I was taught and understood easily, if I didn't understand something I could ask with out feeling judgement. He is understanding and wants you to succeed.
Brother Coleman is a very energetic teacher. He always starts class with a spiritual or inspirational thought that you can tell is something he's really been pondering. He really tries to get to know each of his students and its obvious he cares. He is very knowledgable and passionate about a lot of things. He just wants his students to succeed.
During the time that I took him, he was actually in the process of creating the class materials, so we were the "guinea pigs" of the new material. He is great and funny but does get distracted a good amount of times.
Brother Coleman is a great guy and fun teacher, keeps classes pretty easy while still teaching you plenty of stuff
Overall he is a great teacher! The way he ran the course was like a learning portion and a follow up section where we verbally applied what we learned. It wasn't hard and it was a great learning experience.
Coleman is a great guy and easy to get along with. Compared to other courses his Sustaining Life class is a relatively easy credit without lots of homework. His lectures do get quite boring sometimes but overall he is a good professor.
He gives very good lectures and does everything possible to prepare you for your exams.
He is extremely understanding and will see you for more than just a student and more as a human.
This is a good class to take and not hard if you show up, the material can be hard to follow if you are not paying attention. There is a lot of good information given during lecture that are not always on his slides so make sure to take some good notes. Overall, great professor and always willing to help.
Never actually talked about anything pertaining to becoming a better care taker for nature was just an ethic and political debate the whole time
Take this class from Brother Coleman, you will not regret it! He knows the material so well and is so passionate that you end up enjoying the class even if you haven't cared for the subject in the past. It's pretty easy as far as class work goes, he definitely wants you to succeed, unlike other professors who make it hard to pass their course.
Rob Colemans class was always fun and the assignments weren't hard if you just did the reading.
Rob is a great professor, and he's able to allow so many different opinions in his class! He genuinely cares about his students and their success, and he's always willing to meet with you if you need help with something, and he teaches in such a way that it's easy to understand what he's saying.
Very caring and very willing to help however he can! His class is not stressful and he makes sure to give clear instructions on what is needed to pass.
Brother Coleman is the best just be nice to him and don't take advantage of him he is such a fun guy. One of my favorite prof.
If you really want to learn in this class... maybe don't take Brother Coleman. He has major ADHD he gets off topic a lot. However he is a lax grader, do your best on the assignments and you'll get full credit. There are 2 exams and his review gives a lot of the answers.
Brother Coleman made learning about science enjoyable again. All the students in the class were super sad whenever he missed class because of work meetings. I wish I had known about him sooner when I came to BYU-Idaho. He focuses on the most important things during his slide reviews. Take this class from him, and I promise you won't regret it.
Brother Coleman is the best. He is a great teacher and also tells great stories. He goes the extra mile to get to know everyone by name and is so kind. He is very funny and always willing to answer any questions you have.
Great professor!! If you show up to class and listen to the lectures, you won't have ANY problems during the midterm and final exam. He does a review for each one of the exams. For a general class, it was a very enjoyable one!!
Rob Coleman is a great professor who cares about his students and their success.
He's a fun and really nice guy but I didn't learn much from this class.
Rob Coleman had a great ability of teaching the material clearly by using relevant material.
He is one of my favorite professors, he was so funny/kind/ and respectful! I recommend taking his class to anyone
He cared a lot about my education, and worked hard for everyone to learn and understand a certain topic.
He is super easy going. The homework that he assigns is quite easy to understand and complete. The class as a whole was a fun experience.
This guy is fun! Great class. 10/10 do recommend this guy
He was really cool, and funny. Super easy to talk to, never makes assignments too hard.
This teacher was really good, I really enjoyed him as a teacher and enjoyed his sense of humor!
Loved him as a professor.
Covers all the lessons well each day of class. He goes on little tangents almost everyday but they are about the lesson, and they keep class entertaining. The course is set up to have little homework and taking it with Rob makes it better to have a lighter load. Also, free snack of your choice if you visit him.
he really wants your success
Such a good and chill dude
The semester started out slow. The time management improved over time. Bro. Coleman cares about his students and wants them to success. He cuts past extraneous info and gets to the point in his lectures. He has thorough reviews before the test and is a fair grader. There were multiple extra credit options and it was a fun/easy class.
He is a great teacher that takes the time in order for you to understand the material. Get ready for stories to be told during class and in individual meetings. If you ever have any questions, never be afraid to go ask him in class or during his office hours. Definitely would take him again.
He was a very good and fun professor. However he would get off track a bit and we wouldn't get through the full lectures. The study guides aren't that helpful because they are literally everything that was in the lecture. It just wasn't helpful to me because it stressed me out and there were things on the study guides that I didn't need for tests.
I loved Professor Coleman, he did often get off track in his lectures and not everyday did we finish the lecture notes, but when ever I had a question he was more then willing to help me out and make sure that I left with an answer that satisfied me. He is a very chill and understanding teacher that tries to make class more then just the lecture.
Brother Coleman has got your back!
Brother Coleman really cares about his students and is super kind and personable. Always willing to take the time to make sure you understand the material.
Coleman is very passionate about biology, and pretty much all of class is lecture time. He has a hard time staying focused, and oftentimes I couldn't tell if what he was teaching was related to the course material. He is very dry and funny, but is often hard to listen to for long amounts of time or on little sleep because you may fall asleep.
Super caring guy. Always super helpful one on one
Brother Coleman is a great guy! Always able to bring some sort of dry humor into the class and make you feel less worried about future tests. He's pretty good at telling you what is most important and least important to focus on and whenever I didn't get stuff he's pretty good at answering questions inside and outside of class. Would take him again
He is a kind professor and he cares about his students! Brother Coleman is very approachable and shares valuable insights! I have seen him in public outside of class and he was very enthusiastic about seeing me!
Brother Coleman is very smart and when he lectures you can tell that he really knows all his stuff. He really wants to make a connection with all his students and cares about their learning. He's willing to accept accountability if he makes a mistake and will change his lecture style to fit the needs of the class. Brother Coleman is great!
Brother Coleman cam back to teach BIO181 after a few years. With a new course curriculum made by the department it took him a little bit to get back into teaching the material. Once he got the hang of it though, his class was a blast! He made sure he focused on what would be on the exams. He would only briefly skim something if it wasn't important
He's great and funny but tends to get sidetracked during lectures which he says are the most important for gathering information to study.
Bro Coleman will do anything to help you learn biology. He is actually the best professor. If you want to learn the info for the MCAT or the DAT and still get a good grade. He's your guy. He's not super easy, because he actually wants you to learn, but if you put in the work and the time... YOU WILL GET AND A!
Very passionate about all of the material in 181 and plants as well.
He was really good with test preparation. And overall his a really great guy!
Rob is a great professor, he knows his stuff. I think my greatest struggle in this class came by the course structure itself, not the quality of teaching. The material was not my favorite, and it was hard to be engaged, even though Rob does a great job.
It was an ok course. Not my favorite, but that may have just been because I didn't find the material very interesting. Bro Coleman is very nice and a cool guy, but he hasn't taught this course in a long time and the lectures didn't really prepare you well for the exams.
He knows what he is teaching and he also keeps the class fun and entertaining.
Coleman is a good teacher that can sometimes get caught on topics not allowing for the lectures to finish. However he is pretty available outside of class and even hosted weekly study sessions for those who could make it. He also posts all lecture PowerPoints and prerecorded lecture videos for each topic so it is easy to catch up.
Brother Coleman is a pretty awesome guy! Super funny which can lead him to get distracted quite a bit. His exam reviews were pretty awesome (he basically had the exam open and was giving us what was on the exams) so that was helpful. Bio181 is a tough class with 80% of your grade being exams so that's tough but he'll help you through it.
Brother Coleman was an amazing professor. Not only did he explain things well, but he was also very engaging. You could tell that he really cared about each of his students. He was always very accessible outside of class and willing to work with students one on one. He's open to feedback/input. I would definitely take a class with him again.
Bro Coleman is a good professor and he is very intellegent and really cares about his content. if you are taking 181 Coleman is a safe bet. there are some 181 teachers that are not. Baird is also good as well as Taylor. But if you want a fun and quirky but very interesting man of a teacher Bro Coleman is the way to go.
Hadn't taught this class in awhile but he still had great energy and was super funny. Also he was willing to help with any questions you had.
Professor is a chill dude who keeps the class engaging with tangents. Light workload and free snacks - a great combo! Unstuckstudy AI was super helpful for studying.
I took BIO 230. Rob is awesome, he can ramble sometimes but he knows his stuff and will often say whether something is on the test or not. Turnitin is a nightmare though, you're asked to "define it as in the text", but if you do that, you get flagged and lose points. Be ready to reword literally everything and add fluff to assignments.
I'm actually in BIO230. It wasn't a selectable option probably because the class is a joke. The Lab and lecture do not correlate with one another. The TA contradicts the teacher and will tell u to learn things that are not on the exam. Inefficient usage of time and learning. Content prepares you poorly for the exams Worst class at BYUI I have seen.
I had Brother Coleman for Bio 230. He is a convert, so he has a very wide understanding of both the world and the gospel. The class is very lecture heavy, but he does a really good job focusing on the thing that you will be tested on. He also loves to give little hints about exam questions throughout lecture. (better than the other prof.)
Brother Coleman cares a lot about his students and wants them to succeed. His lectures weren't helpful to me for the exams. I met with the tutor and studied the keynotes on the slides. Overall great professor and tries to make his lectures entertaining by telling jokes.
Great professor take him!! I am not a biology person, he made this class easier to manage. It is still a hard class and you have to put in the effort to study. He offers review sessions, has good office hours, and is willing to set up separate times to work with you. Read the textbook but he tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests.
This course is very interesting. Brother Coleman is a great professor and ties in experiences/stories. The class and material can get difficult, just stay up on the assignments and go to tutoring. Pay attention in class and you will do well.
Brother Coleman was a great teacher for this class! He made sure to prepare us for each test (there was only 2 of them for the entire semester) and his lectures were always enjoyable. He discusses somewhat uncomfortable topics with care and sensitivity and you can tell he cares about each of his students. The class was very easy overall.
Bro Coleman gave good lectures, especially when sharing stories from his work as an EMT which made lessons memorable. Realistic in expectations/grades. Flexible when fixing a grade/when I had questions. The lecture prep papers every week go through TurnItIn which was tricky- based on the txtbk but had to reword answers to avoid plagiarism.
He is a super funny guy and made this class enjoyable. I would take it again because he helped me to do the best I possible could in this class.
He's a great professor. Ties in real life experiences to the lecture material and he genuinely wants students to understand the learning content. Very helpful and offers review sessions weekly that is helpful to prepare for exams.
Coleman was super kind and very helpful. He was very approachable and gave great lectures. There is a lot of material in this class but it is very possible to do well. The PowerPoints used for lecture are available and I would recommend downloading those to look at the notes that you can't see otherwise. Those PowerPoints were SUPER helpful.
Great Teacher
Very relatable professor that knows how to get attention and teach with passion.
He is very good at teaching with humor and added bits of the gospel in. All of his assignments are very clear and he offers a lot of extra credit work.
He is a great professor! I would take him again.
Coleman really cares about his students and want them to succeed.
Brother Coleman knows how to bring this very information dense class to life. He breaks down the concepts well and really wants his students to succeed. I would recommend taking this class from him.
Brother Coleman is a very caring teacher. He volunteers to hold study sessions every Tuesday for his students. One of his weaknesses is staying on track during lecture and having time to cover all the material in class. But he is very knowledgable, funny, and generally easy going. This class is difficult but taking it from him makes it easier.
He's a really good teacher and isn't very strict. He's also pretty funny, which makes the lecture interesting.
Mr. Coleman is a great teacher with lost of experience with Anatomy and physiology. He is 100% willing to work with you within reason.
Brother Coleman is an incredible teacher. He is passionate about the subject and also your success. He provides an extra review/study session outside of class each week to help students. He makes sure you are set up to study for the tests. This class is a pain because it likely isn't very applicable to your major, but he makes it endurable.
He takes time to explain all areas of content and gives valuable information for tests and quizzes. The more that you listen the more that you will understand. His lectures tend to put you to sleep so be ready with a piece of gum or drink to keep you awake. Overall great professor that has amazing teaching ability and experiences.
The work you put into this class will reflect the grade you receive. Try hard, and get a good grade.
Funny, caring, does a good job.
Brother Coleman is awesome. He teaches in a way that makes sense and he always checks if he's going too fast or if something doesn't make sense. He's really funny. 10/10 teacher.
Good guy. Keeps it real. Never did meth or porn.
Very lecture-based, but that's often how biology goes. Makes the time and is always happy to answer any questions you could ever have, which I appreciated. That also means that side tangents are sometimes a thing, but they aren't bad. Coleman's also willing to work with you to help you succeed in the class.
Rob is a great guy. He's sarcastic and enjoys what he's teaching. He sometimes goes off topic and it can be a little hard to know what you need to take away but If you use the study guides and ask clarifying questions you'll be alright.
All we do is class is mainly lectures. He's quite funny and if you ask questions, you will better understand the material. He posts the slides so you have all the info you need if you miss class (though listening to him is preferred to have a deeper understanding) and if you go over the slides before your exams and quizzes, you will be fine.
He's an awesome guy with a good sense of humor and quick to accept his mistakes and make them right! I appreciated how he was always willing to stay after class to address our needs and pointed out things in class that we would need to know for exams. The test and material are relatively difficult but with lots of study it's not too bad.
Great professor! There were a few reading based quizzes, but they were pretty easy. It was mostly lecturing and discussion, but it was a really interesting class
Brother Coleman is really nice and cares, but his teaching is a bit unorganized. He doesn't always finish slides or remember what's on quizzes, so the material doesn't always match. He tries his best but isn't very helpful. The class is slow, and it's easy to zone out. If you can study on your own, you'll be fine, but lectures aren't super useful.
Bro. Coleman is one of the greatest professor's I've had the chance to learn from. I took this class with no prior interest in environmental issues, and have become so much more aware of the issues that challenge our environment. He is caring, respectful, always comes with a joke or two - and most importantly - is passionate about his teaching. A+!
Amazing Professor! Cares about his students and supported me through hard times
This professor is exceptional in his manner of teaching and is very easy in grading. You are guaranteed to learn something new.
Very understanding
Bro Coleman is one the nicest professors who really cared about his students.
Great teacher!
Brother Coleman is a great guy and genuinely cares about his students. He is a little unorganized and kind of jumped around to different topics in lectures that would make it confusing. Overall, he is a great teacher and very respectful and knowledgable.
Funny teacher!
Easy going, didn't give much work. I enjoyed taking this class.
Brother Coleman is a teacher that loves what he does, and desires that his students succeed and understand the content. He is very willing to teach the material over again if you do not understand and is willing to meet with you outside of class to go over the material you could not understand.
Professor didn't ask a lot of questions to the class, but questions were accepted from the class. It was hard for me since the class was at 9am.
Coleman is super cool, funny, and cares about your grade. He often gives points back for missed homework questions or tests. He also gives out quite a bit of extra credit. I think other professors may teach this class better, but Coleman makes this class as easy as he can for you.
Coleman is an amazing person. I often went to his office for explanation, clarification, or to review my tests. He never made me feel stupid or dumb, which is a great quality of him. He is funny, and sometimes he could say things in a way that may confuse you, but if you try to understand the material then you will.
He wants everyone to do well in the class, but he also makes sure that we understand and can get all the help we can have.
Rob Coleman is a very good teacher at making the atmosphere of his class light with the occasional joke. He teaches almost entirely on presentation based lectures which can be a positive or negative. I would recommend him as an excellent teacher for anyone who prefers visual and audio learning.
Rob is funny, he cares about biology and wants you to enjoy it too. Although he is nice, he had a hard time getting through lecture completely and can be a little dry at times. The class is easy enough though that with a normal amount of effort, and some study, you can do well. He doesn't love being called Brother Coleman and I respect that.
This professor does a great job of helping you feel welcome and loved throughout the semester. The tests are very heavy and make up most of your grade so make sure you do well on those.
He does a good job of teaching the material and knows it well. You need to be prepared to put the work in to learn the material, but if you are struggling he will work with you. He wants his students to learn the material and succeed.
Coleman uses PowerPoints for all of his lectures. It felt like Coleman did not have much passion for this class. When asked a question, he would say, "that's not important for the exam." If you like memorization and PowerPoints and knowing what will be on the exam, you will like Bro Coleman.
Great guy. You have to get online to schedule office hours with him which is something I don't love. He's usually available but its just a hassle to get online and schedule it.
he was a pretty good teacher, attendance was not mandatory, and his lectures were based off of his slides. I would recommend still going to class as it made the slides make more sense and made the homework easier
Brother Coleman is an awesome teacher! I loved his style of teaching, humor, and apparent care for each of us in his class. He's very open and honest and will let you know what you need to work on but it's all for good. Be ready to study the course is a good amount of studying but Brother Coleman makes it very enjoyable.
He is very relaxed, straightforward, honest, funny, knowledgeable, friendly, and unbiased. I learned a great deal about what it means to care for the earth. It's not a particularly spiritual class. It consists mainly of lectures. This class for developing good decision-making skills and understanding the truth of matters in an unbiased manner.
Brother Coleman is great, I took Environmental Stewardship with him and the class was awesome, not a lot of homework but he did send us some papers to read and answer a quiz after.
Okay, at first, I thought Coleman was going to be boring, but you just have to get to know his humor. He is a great teacher and knows his stuff. Bio 181 is a knowledge-heavy class that will require a decent bit of memorization; it is definitely more boring than Bio 180. That being said, it is way easier if you spend a small amount of time studying.
Prof. Coleman was very helpful and accessible after class. He went out of his way to fix my grade in Canvas. While he sticks closely to the slides and doesn't elaborate much, he is still a very good professor with a humorous character.
Brother Coleman is a super caring and funny person! I do feel like this class (Environmental Stewardship) in particular was fairly easy and it didn't feel mandatory to listen to what was being taught. The homework assignments are typically focused on news articles or researching current environmental events, not the material he goes over in class.
Brother Coleman is such a good professor. I struggled a little in the genetics unit, but the ecology and evolution units were interesting to me and he explains everything in pretty good detail. It's an intro class so he doesn't use his own slides, but he really knows the material and has a good attitude when students ask questions or correct him.
He is extremely caring, I suggest going to office hours if you are still lost.
Just do the work required for his class. He'll help you whenever you need it.
Keeps lectures interesting and light-hearted. Provides great guidance to prepare for exams and will go over previous tests to explain what you got wrong.
Great guy, willing and happy to break down concepts in a digestible way. He also teaches what we need to know for exams.
He likes birds
He's a great guy and makes class entertaining. He's also hilarious. However, I wouldn't say he's the best of all the teachers at teaching the subject, but that may be because I learn better in classes where the lecturing is done out of class and you just refresh what you learned in class.
Very funny teacher! Loved going to his classes. Lectures were compact and informative, he's entertaining and easy going, would love to take this class again or any class in the future if he's teaching it :)
Brother Coleman was so awesome to have as a teacher! I had a really rough semester and Brother Coleman was very understanding and awesome with everything. His meet and greets are super fun too!!
I really liked this class. I was not the best at attending, however you could tell that he cared about all of his students, even one like me who showed up late or didn't go at all, and he knows what he is talking about. there is a lot of great choices for teachers in the bio department, can't go wrong,g but coleman is another great one.
He understands the stress students are under and does everything he can to lessen it in his class. He's super funny and I had a lot of fun. I learned stuff I didn't know, but I also didn't really feel like it was required of me to pay that much attention to what he was saying. If you want an easy class, take this one from him. Its awesome.
He's a teacher who is passionate about what he teaches. You can tell he knows what he's talking about and has the knowledge. I also really like how spontaneous he is during the lecture.
Brother Coleman teaches to teach not to make your life harder. He does not believe in his students learning to memorize for a good grade but wants you to take what he teaches to apply it. Overall a really easy class and it is hard to get a bad grade. Not strict on attendance but attend as much as you can to respect how awesome he is.
No hate, but this class sucked. His lectures always go long and he always goes off on a tangent unrelated to class. I had a hard time learning from him. He is really funny though
This course was content-heavy; however, due to Brother Coleman's busy schedule, he often got behind on grading and posting assignments. Overall, I would say I learned a lot, but in lecture form, so my likelihood of remembering the information is slim. Brother Coleman, overall, is a caring, helpful professor I recommend taking a course from him.
The exams were especially difficult, sometimes testing material in ways that didn't match what we covered in class or the study materials. I really wish there had been more guidance and clearer explanations. If you take this class, be ready to do a lot of self-teaching.
Really had a great time in Bro Colemans' class, he does tend to talk a bit but that seems to be just because not a lot of students want to contribute to the conversation. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and loves what he's teaching. Would definitely recommend taking Environmental Stewardship with him.
Good professor, pay attention in class and you will do fine on the exams
I really enjoyed this class. They're in the process of restructuring the environmental stewardship class so there weren't very many assignments yet. I learned a lot, and the workload was really light.
He was really good at relating topics discussed in class to examples that were easy to remember and helped me to better understand the concepts. I found the extra videos posted on canvas really helpful for the weekly quizzes, but all the required information was taught in class.
Coleman is a very nice guy and is passionate about what he teaches. If you don't learn well from lecture-heavy courses, I would suggest not taking this course. Homework is assigned after every lecture, but it isn't very hard, typically. Quizzes are assigned every week as well.
I thought that Brother Coleman was a really nice guy who cares about what he teaches about. Some of his lectures were a little slow, but I admittedly stopped attending them after the first few and opted for studying the online resources and attending tutoring multiple times a week. But that is a personal preference.
Pay attention in class, take notes, and do the homework; you will do great on exams.
Brother Coleman is a funny guy. I am having fun in his class
If you want a critical thinking class, take this class, it will question everything around you, specially the climate and environment, politics.
He is a great Professor! His class is really good and I felt really confident about learning the topics.
Class is pretty easy with very few assignments. Great guy! No final needed. Dynamic of the class really depends if you are interested, pay attention and participate in class.
I honestly really liked Coleman; he is definitely lecture heavy, so I fell asleep a couple times. If you are good at Biology and retaining info you got this whereas for me, I am a visual learner, so it was tougher for me.
This class with Brother Coleman was great. Even though I didn't attend class that often, the PPTs he prepared helped me understand the material more efficiently, and even when I went to class, he explained all the concepts well. I would definitely recommend taking this class from Brother Coleman.
He is very funny and very engaging. A lot of reading ahead and lectures everyday even when he isn't here, he gets subs. Very educated on the subject!
He loves punk and he changed how I saw the way I used my resources. If I actually had showed up to class consistently, I think I probably would have ascended.
Rob is very knowledgeable in the field of ecology and is great at letting you know what is on the exams. I found some difficult getting high scores on the weekly quizzes but found that Rob was very generous at adjusting final exam scores which helped me pass the course.
He was super chill and his class was super easy. But just because it was easy doesn't mean that I didn't learn anything. He is a good teacher and is pretty light on homework, but there are mainly lectures.
Bro. Coleman is super funny and very engaging in his lectures. The homework for this class is very light. If you show up to class and do the homework on time, you will easily get a good grade.
He's a fantastic teacher and I learned a lot from this class! He makes a genuine effort to let students engage in the class and he tries to get to know each student. He's super funny and honest too.
I LOVE BROTHER COLEMAN! He literally changed the way that I saw myself as a human being! He put so much trust in us and he is literally hilarious! He doesn't expect perfection, he just wants you to try your best! Your actual best is enough for him! I would take him a million times if I could!
Material can be difficult, and sometimes Brother Coleman can be hard to understand. But if you sit with him one on one and talk to him, he will help you understand. He wants you to succeed.
Brother Coleman is very engaging and understanding.
ADHD guy, but I loved his class
Brother Coleman is an amazing teacher! His lectures are informative and he is so funny!
Cares about his students
Rob has a very dry sense of humor, and really helps to prepare you for tests. He's friendly and easy to talk to and cares for his students.
He is very funny and connects things to life and our own personal lives, without showing much bias for or against different political and environmental points of view. Focusing on principles and not arguing opinions related to them.
He is a good teacher. Lots of lectures, but he does a good job of explaining things for the exams and quizzes.
great guy, but I sometimes felt he didn't prepare us super well for the exams.
He has kind of a dull personality, which made it hard for me to pay attention to lectures. However, Professor Coleman is very knowledgeable about what he teaches.
Sometimes the classes are a tad dull, but Coleman is a good professor overall.
He did a great job. He knows his stuff, and his dry humor will catch you off guard, and its funny
For me the class was hard to follow along due to it being lecture heavy. Brother Coleman made the class but always having something funny to say. He made sure to go over the quizzes along with answer any questions students had. Homework isn't to tough as long as you know what is being talked about.
He does a great job explaining things and you can tell he really cares about what he's teaching. Sometimes I feel like he beats himself up, but ultimately he is a good teacher. What made this class hard and stressful was the lack of resources and guidance with those resources.I felt at times I had no clue what was happening. Cares about students
The teacher is good at ensuring that you receive all the necessary information to be successful on the test.
Brother Coleman is so amazing he cares about his students. He is very knowledgeable in this subject which does lead to some random tangents and was a bit scattered with his lectures but for me, that is what I needed I would remember the tangents and be able to work it back to what we needed to know. I would recommend him for this really hard class.
Loved the class
The lectures were incredibly boring, the slides he posted online for those who missed class didn't have all the information, wouldn't recommend taking.
Good professor and good class as long as you put forth effort.
One of my least favorite classes, and I struggled because of that. He is a good professor, but his teaching style wasn't for me, as the class was lecture-heavy; lectures tend to be boring. The class has a great structure; tests are in the testing center, and homework is due every other day after each session, even on Sundays too.
Brother Coleman REALLY knows his stuff. He's passionate about it, too. I really enjoyed each lecture and thought that his explanation of concepts was interesting and easily digestible. The structure for his class was also simple which I appreciated. I definitely would take a class from him again.
So Brother Coleman is great, he knows the material really well and is very willing to help you in and out of class. Sometimes there would be tangents that didn't have a lot to do with the content, and what he wanted us to understand from what he did share wasn't always emphasized. His test reviews were awesome, and he wants to help students succeed
He's great!! I loved the class, its a harder class but he made it easy!
He is a super REAL professor. He tells you the information that you need and some that you dont. He is really good about answering your questions and working with you because life happens. He knows its a hard class so being there is really important. He knows his stuff but you have to show up with the effort already there.
Brother Coleman is a fantastic professor - knows his stuff, has great answers to everyone's questions, and is very willing to help outside of class. He made a tough class feel a lot easier, and explains everything very clearly. Would highly recommend taking BIO230 from him and would take his classes in the future.
He is a great teacher who will try his best to help you succeed. he is very understanding and honest. He does get easily distracted so we often times had to remind him to do top hat or ask questions that would bring him back on subject. But honestly if you study the textbook quizzes you will do great in the class.
Lecture-heavy, 5 exams total, and mandatory attendance.
He's great, easy to talk to, and willing to meet outside of class. Take advantage of the extra lectures he gives. He cares about his students.
This class had lots of work and lots of things to learn, but Brother Coleman directs you to the perfect resources and explains things in a fun and understandable way. Any anatomy class is going to feel like a lot. This class is a lot. But it is totally doable.
Rob is a great teacher. He is really willing to help students and answer questions. He holds weekly review sessions. I also think is funny which adds some extra interest to lectures. His lectures can be hard to follow sometimes. Just makes sure to download the powerpoints and read the written notes, and you'll do a lot better.
Brother Coleman is very intelligent and attentive as a professor. He knows his stuff and he's fun to listen to. I would definitely recommend taking a class from him
Mr. Coleman is definitely very knowledgeable in this area. He is open and willing to answer any and all questions that might come up. He goes off on quite a few tangents that aren't relevant to this particular course but it's just because he likes to go more in depth than the class typically does. This did help deepen my knowledge on subjects.
Brother Coleman is a great teacher. His lectures are good, though can be heavy because there's a lot of material to cover. He answers every questions and makes sure everybody understands. It is a good class to take!
I felt that Brother Coleman was a great teacher and we had a lot of fun in his class. The only thing that was hard was when we got lost in some tangents and we lost track of time.
He is a knowledgeable and good teacher. The main drawback is that lectures often feel long and can be boring.
Rob Coleman is a really nice guy. His teaching is very average. If you are a reasonable self-starter and have some experience with biology classes and how to succeed, this class shouldn't be an issue. I wouldn't recommend for people looking for a ton of clear help or someone with no previous biology experience.
It is a hard class but the teacher loves the subject and he wants to help the students to the best of his abilities. The canvas can, at times, not be up to date, but it does eventually get fixed. The course consists of two quizzes and lecture preparation weekly, four unit exams, two essays, and a final.
He has some ADHD so he goes off topic a bit sometimes, but his tangents are usually interesting and mostly related to the topic. He is very good at meeting with students and having study sessions and will even give solid hints about what to expect on the Exams. You can tell that he genuinely wants people to succeed and not just make it impossible.
Brother Coleman enjoys joking around with students and provides opportunities for our success. For example, he pushed our testing dates back a few times when he recognized we were behind in lecture. He also provides opportunities for study review sessions, and there are extra credit opportunities.
Bro. Coleman did a great job breaking down the material into digestible bits (no pun intended). Sometimes he goes on tangents or forgets to give us the attendance code for class, but he places great trust in his students to remind him. He is also very willing to answer questions you have after class. He made class entertaining with his dry humor.
Rob Coleman is a very nice and funny professor. He is willing to work with you to improve your grade, he likes to provide extra credit and teaches in a way that you understand the material, and if you don't, he pauses for questions. Overall, he is an awesome professor who cares about every student.
He is very kind and his lectures are entertaining.
He's a nice guy and cares about his subject. Most classes consist of lectures that I didn't find very interesting or helpful. He forgets to post assignments constantly which meant we had to do them the day of. Homework was super easy, but there's one assignment each week that takes around 40 minutes. He was okay, his class just wasn't interesting.
He is such a good guy, and it's an easy class. He lectures everyday, and its a tad bit boring tbh. He also does not make you take any tests, just has one project at the end. He forgets to post assignments and then just gives us all 100s. Good class if you just need to take care of a breadth course, which is what I needed to do!
Brother Coleman is very respectful in that he understands that we have a lot going on as students so attendance is not huge to him, and you can really manage yourself in this course. There is a lot of material so attendance is suggested, and Brother Coleman does tend to get distracted sometimes so additional time in the textbook is great!
Brother Coleman is a very understanding professor. Communication with him is key; send emails but also go in person to discuss assignments, class, struggles, grades, etc. He will work with you to find a solution and will put in the time and extra effort to address student needs.
Brother Coleman is an amazing professor! He is fair and willing to answer any questions, even if they seem silly. It is a textbook/lecture heavy class, but you are given every opportunity to learn and understand the matirial.
He tends to get behind in lectures. I would highly recommend taking the lab at the end of the week for this class if you have Brother Coleman. I am unsure if this is normal or not but the semester I had this professor, all our assignments were graded late due to no TAs grading. The tutor was also unavailable whenever I needed help.
He is very understanding when it comes to assignments and will make acceptions if need. Likes to make jokes. Lecture heavy that's all class really is. Not to stern about attendance and understands if you miss a class.
Brother Coleman is fantastic! Great person and the class was fascinating. I really developed a love and appreciation for the human body. Study hard, use tutoring, and talk to Brother Coleman if you need help. He is an amazing person with a story for every injury. The class can be very applicable to ANY major if you let it be.
If you have to take BIO230 and you're not a bio major. Take Coleman - not Haderlie. Coleman is much more chill, lenient and understanding that bio isn't your focus or strong suit. He gives points back on tests, hw and others. Take him! The graders were awful tbh so don't hesitate to reach out and use his office hours.
I think that he's a great teacher but that he seemed a little out of touch with the course content itself. Kind of like he's teaching someone else's course. If brother Coleman taught a course he designed it would be a 10/10
Very good teacher and very understanding. You are able to turn in late work, and when stuff comes up in life, he will work with you. His lectures are a little all over the place, but his class is always a good time.
Brother Coleman is a great professor, but the class is definitely all over the place, so just be prepared to go to lots of tutoring and study to teach yourself.
Rob Coleman was an incredible teacher! I would take him again any day. He made assignments easy, his grading style was very relaxed, he met us where we were at, he was very engaging and funny. He was also very often available to do private tutoring outside of class. All of this made the class 10 times better than other BIO230 classes.
Bro Coleman is an Awesome guy. He is very funny in and if you can appreciate his dry humor you will have a lot of fun. He is very knowledgable when it comes to Anat and Phys but he can get a little off topic going in depth about subjects or questions from class. He is chill when it comes to HW and will help you if you feel questions were unfair.
Brother Coleman was a great teacher! He definitely knows what he is talking about and is very willing to answer questions. He is very understanding about turning in homework.
Brother Coleman is the funniest professor I have ever had. He made me laugh probably every class. He has great spiritual insights and is able to explain things well, but he does get a little side tracked.
Brother Coleman is a very fair professor. He will not set you up to fail this course that is overall very difficult and requires a lot of work. He gives plenty of extra credit and is understanding about absences as well as late assignments. His lectures can veer off course but that was not the end of the world.
Brother Coleman is seriously the best teacher ever. I was always looking forward to going to his class! He is so knowledgeable in anatomy and can explain things super well. He is so much fun and is always making us laugh and sharing stories. He keeps us super engaged while also explaining the concepts really well. I loved this class so much!!!!
Bro coleman cares so much about his students and will be lenient when you need it. He is so knowledgeable. If you're taking bio 230 be aware that bro haderlie is the course creator and brother coleman just teaches from that course so it makes it a little difficult to follow the structure since brother haderlie creates the tests. Great professor
Brother Coleman is super awesome! He's super understanding, if you ever need an extra day for an assignment, he's pretty willing to extend! He's funny and keeps class interesting. He can get a little sidetracked at times. I learned more from tutoring than lectures. I'd take a class from him again and recommend him to others as a super nice teacher!
The professor explains anatomical terms and processes clearly, often using examples and visual aids (presentation slides) to support learning. His exam reviews help a lot with the unit exams
Bro. Coleman is an excellent teacher. Although the course was broken down into lecture/lab sections, Coleman was able to properly prepare students and did a good job covering the material. He is witty, funny, and informed, and did his best to help us understand the material and answer questions..
Bro Coleman is a great teacher. He really cares about his students, he's understanding and forgiving. He always has an out of pocket comment for each class. He does get distracted or off track in lectures so you don't always get to cover all of the material but, he's knowledgeable in the topic. Do the reading, prep assignment, and go to tutoring!
This professor was good. We often started class late, which was annoying, but he was mostly fine. He is accessible outside of class and wants you to succeed in the course. He also sometimes brings eggs from his chickens to give to students.
Brother Coleman has a very funny sense of humor and is very knowledgeable guy. What is most impressive to me is how he genuinely wants to understand others' viewpoints and care about them. He is very good at presenting info in an balanced way with no heavy biases.
Professor Coleman is one of the kindest professors I have ever met! He genuinely cares about every student and is very willing to work with you. My biggest complaint is that the course wasn't written by him. He has tons of great knowledge to share but doesn't write the exams so they don't always line up with what we learned in class.
Bro Coleman is a super intelligent guy. He is super lax with attendance, but his lectures are worth going to. He's funny and makes class entertaining. The class itself isn't easy naturally because it's A&P, but take it from Coleman if you have to take the class.
Brother Coleman cares about his students. He was helpful whenever I asked questions about assignments or clarification about class material. His lectures can sometimes get off topic and sometimes can be difficult to focus during, but if you pay attention and take notes from the PowerPoints and lectures it is good.
Proffesor Coleman is amazing! He is a christlike example and a inspiration. He is very understanding and wants his students to succeed!
Brother Coleman is so knowledgeable! He is very kind and wants you to succeed in the class. The class load itself is quite heavy, but as you ask him specific questions and study outside of the class (take tutoring!), you will do fine.
Brother Coleman was an amazing professor, and you could tell he truly cared about all of his students. His lectures were entertaining and he always made time to answer student's question. Make sure to sign up for a meet and greet with him in the beginning of the semester, especially since he'll get your favorite snack!
He is really funny and makes class interesting. Will prepare you well for exams.
Learned an insane amount, so much material in this class. So many terms. He often underestimates the time, we only have an hour M/W/F. Go to the office hours, take advantage of tutoring. ASK QUESTIONS. You're going to struggle so hard, if you don't know how to study for bio. I got adhd so this was so hard for me.
Super smart guy! Someone who is extremely willing to help out and is understanding when it comes to due dates and extensions. Exams are tough, pay attention to the notes on his slides.
