Awsome teacher, very clear and helpful. If you have trouble, use his office hours. He wants you to do well.
A very hard class. He prefers tangents to lectures. He has a great sense of humour, but that does not help one learn physics.
Great teacher - talks a bit too much - gives his students the tools they'll need for future academic success
He's a very cool teacher, he is very good at what he does, you just have to keep him on track.
I didn't learn anything except for a few new swear words during his lectures.
I don't have a science background and dreaded taking this class. Rob made learning physics interesting and fun. I highly reccomend taking a class with him.
rob is a great guy. he knows physics and u can tell he truly enjoys teaching. be prepared for his tests. they tend to be a little harder than the subject matter you cover in class. he gets off track occassionally during lecture with great stories about his childhood and family. I learned alot about
Rob is the man. The only science class I have ever enjoyed going to. Have fun, joke around with him, and pay attention when he's actually talking about physics, he's a great physics teacher, knows his stuff for sure. If getting off topic makes it harder for you to learn, go to his office hours
great teacher decided to take it with him both semesters, better understand now that he is a smarty pants and will pick at ya!
The worse teacher I have ever had.
Rob is great. The best science teacher I ever had. Gets of topic but you till the required material in and with good explanations. I would recommend taking him.
Rob is a great teacher who is a real science geek, but enjoys what he does. You rock the casbah, rob! :)
mediocrity is the name
I was nervous about science classes before Rob's class, but he gives you confidence that you can be good at Physics. He's knows his material very well, and he's a ton of fun. Everyone can succeed in his class. He's awesome.
prepares the student for university level physics.knows this stuff, a mathman with a practical mind, and though that mind may seem to wander he is sharp enough to transfer from small talk to newton and galilei. If you get somethin wrong or miss out it's your own fault for not asking, he devotes time directly to the students needs.
Rob is one of the best teachers I ever had!! He has fun and makes physics fun. I never thought I would understand physics, but with him I did. There's no one else like Rob!!!!
BEST TEACHER TO WALK THE PLANET!!!
I like Rob but He jokes a lot. people joke when they lack knowledge.
He's a great teacher, keeps class fun, and interesting and answers everyones questions, makes things clear. Welling to help students with things. He's very smart and good with explainning things. Better then others, I recommand him.
Rob is a very down to earth and humble professor. He will state at the beginning of the class that he can be a jerk/**** at times, although he is overstating it. His Physics 1 class is actually more difficult than his Physics 2 (which he only teaches over the summer semester). I recommend above all other professors for at least PHY 111 & 122.
Rob jokes a lot to keep his students awake, interested, and also to invite participation. He does know his stuff, although, in his old age can become confused like any other prof but at least lacks the ego of others. If you show up, participate, do the work, ask questions, and pay attention Rob will make the class worth every joule you put in.
Great teacher! I had him a little while ago and could not believe someone said that he lacks knowledge because he jokes! He is very intelligent and I would rather have a teacher who jokes than one who doesn't. Easy class if you go and pay attention.
Annoying Teacher. He doesn't have any passion on the subject. If you want to STUDY and learn physics, do not take his class. If you like to discuss TV shows and spend time and tuition for that, this is the perfect class!
Fun class, he's a great teacher knows his stuff. Likes to help if you ask him, likes to joke but thats to keep everyone awake and interested and works really good.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. He jokes, A LOT, and he's completely crazy. Some of them can be kind of offensive, so if you're easily offended, don't take him. I'm not a morning person and I have him as an 8am class, and his lectures keep me wide awake. He knows how to make boring things exciting through his outrageous humor.
BEST TEACHER!!! I did not want to take this class at all but he made it so fun and easy!!! If you want to sit in a class where the teachers lectures for 3 hours straight this is not the classs for you. By the end of the semester you will know about his childhood and family (very funny stories)!!!!
I came to America to get good College education and Rob's physics class was like 8 grade highschool in my country. For 3 hr class, we studied for 15 minutes and He joked and talked very loud for 2 hours about tv,golf and other things I am emberessed to write about.
Rob is the coolest teacher ever. Whoever wrote those negative comments is a loser. Rob makes physics understandable and he is the nicest guy ever. If you want to sit around in a dull boring class take another teacher, if you want to have fun learning physics than take Rob. I'd give him a 10/10.
Rob is awesome and makes physics understandable. You won't regret taking him!
Rob's a great guy. Physics can be a hit and miss kind of course, and if you have the wrong person teaching it - you'll be lost. But Rob keeps you interested, does plenty of demonstrations, loves what he does and loves helping you if you need it. I highly recommend his class not just for the experience but because you will learn.
Great teacher! I hated the fact I had to take Physics but after having him I really love the subject because he can realte everything to somthing I can comprehend haha He's not too bad to look at either!
Rob you smell bad and you look funny. Ha ha .. i hope you read this.
Great teacher! He really knows what he is talking about! He usually spends about a half hour or more talking about stuff off topic. this is kind of annyoing because instead i think we should get out early. He is very helpful if you ask. He makes fun of people a lot so don't be too sensitive.
Standard assignments, mostly easy tests. Labs, however, are confusing, especially circuits. I think he likes it that way because it makes you think, try new things, ask questions, and be curious which is what science is all about. He kind of encourages you to make mistakes from trying things out on labs.
Great teacher, explains the concepts well and does cool in class demos. He talks way too much though. The @#$% that comes out of his mouth is unbelievable...it cracked me up. Awesome teacher, but could be even better if he spent more time actually teaching physics. Also, he brags about his salery too much.
Great professor. Rob is very helpful, but it is still a class that requires a lot of studying, so be prepared. I would definitely recommend taking his class.
Rob is a jokester, and he OFTEN finds himself off on tangents during lecture time. BUT, he's funny and he wants his students to learn and enjoy the class in a laid-back way (Although he'll tell you he doesn't care-he DOES). I am not a science person, but he absolutely made this class tolerable, and I did well. I'd take it again.
On the first day of class, Rob will tell you need to study at least 18 hours a week in order to get an A. I didn't take him seriously b/c I always do very well in all my classes, but trust me, after the first test, you'll realize he's not lying! Tests are not hard if you STUDY HARD and do the HW & in-class problems over and over again. Study daily!
He does talk alot about random stuff and is very blunt about his personal views but he is a great teacher. He is NOT an easy A but you will really learn Physics and he really knows the subject he is teaching inside and out. I think his classes are really good for pre-engg students.
Rob is certainly a character. If you are an easily offended "wet blanket", take someone else. Study the homework and fill out the cheat-sheet he allows for each exam. Show up for labs. Wastes a lot of time off topic (sometimes way off topic) but you learn something anyway. Coarse language and rude gestures are to be expected.
It does not seem to me that he cares about his students at all. Foe exaple, When I write to him, he des not read my letter.
He under-prepares you for the homework and exams. The book is often incomprehensible. I had to use another physics text in order to understand the material. I ended up teaching myself, at a HUGE cost in time. Had no life for three months, just so he could goof around and tell stories in class. Cocky sports jock type of guy, nice but can be rude.
He is a good professor and knows his stuff. Quizzes and Tests seem to be easy. He is easy to get along with. I was nervous to take this class but know I am glad I did. ROB YOUR AWESOME!
As a person, I like Rob. As a teacher, his lecture is not helpful at all. I noticed that a third of the class ended up wih A's, so maybe it's just me. He gets paid by Mc Graw-Hill to push their stuff, so he requires you use their horrid online text. Do yourself a favor and buy the Giancoli book. You may actually understand physics then.
This is the hardest class I've ever taken. Rob is a pretty cool guy, but I did't like him as a teacher. I always felt under prepared for the homework and especially tests. He gets off topic too often and can leave you very confused. I wouldn't recommend his class unless you actually like physics or if you're already good at it. I usually get straig
I have zero interest in physics, but it wasn't that bad with Rob. The material is difficult, and I'm not a fan of the online book, but his lectures are pretty interesting and you get a notecard for exams. Follow the class examples- they usually appear on the tests. HW problems are easy points & you can re-do them if you get them wrong.
Entertaining class, but does not hold students to an even standard. A student went on vacation and missed some labs and was allowed to turn them in on the last day which made her able to pass the course. This is my biggest complaint for any teacher. Very frustrating for students who attend class and stay on top of their work.
Great Prof. Class was highly enjoyable, interesting and entertaining to boot. It doesn't get much better than that. Do the homework, do the labs and you will get through it. I took the class in the summer (not recommended)and it was a lot of work in a compressed time frame but if you do the work, you will get through it.
Rob is a cocky guy, but if you can look past that he is a fun teacher. The only thing i wish he did better was fully explain how he was doing the problems. I had to spend a lot of time teaching myself, which is not a lot of fun and a big time sink. This class is not an easy A so good luck...
Rob is my Fav teacher at WCC. He is a great guy and if you put in effort he will help you pass the class =)He can come off as rude but he is funny as hell! Take him he give you a twist on tipical teaching style.
He can come across as rude. He will ramble on about his personal views. You learn a far amount, just pay attention, do homework, and use the notecards on the test
I really liked his teaching style. he threw in jokes to keep the class interesting and you learned a lot more then just physics from his class. Hes funny and makes a lot of jokes but is great at explaining such a hard subject.
Rob is an awesome teacher. He goes off track a lot, but he's interesting. He's a real helpful teacher. Just do your work and you should easily pass his class!
AWESOME! LOVE HIM!
He kept his class very interesting and was always ready to help anyone who didn't understand the content in class. His tests were hard, but nothing impossible, especially if you keep up with homework
Dude's Awesome! He's probably the best teacher I have had at WCC. His tests are of no surprise: they are solely based on the homework he gives out and the problems he does in class. He can explain physics REALLY GOOD, too. He really gets the concepts right in. Best. Ever. Planning to take 122 with him.
This is a fun class, but I don't think he's the best "teacher". A lot of time is spent joking around - its a blast but not productive. You don't do very many problems in class and the homework that's assigned is online and different from the tests. I'm usually a 4.0 student in science, and I barely got an A-. But - can't say I wouldn't do it again!
Mr. Hagood has a great personality. Which doesn't as a teacher. He doesn't explain anything well and he doesn't help much either. He gets so off topic you'd forget what class you're in. Luckily I won't need it where I'm transferring. Hopefully you won't either. Good luck.
Most frustrating class I have ever taken. I actually love physics and math. However, he does not teach either one! He is off topic (and often inappropriate) 75% of the time! His quizzes and tests should be easy, but he never gets around to teaching any of the material.
Read all the reviews. He tries so hard to be a 'dude' and entertain, but doesn't focus on teaching. Too worried that CC students will think physics is boring and compensates with a big cocky act. Tests are tricky if you only rely on his lectures, and he rushes through the final chapters. Not for students who want to master physics-take someone else
Hagood is awesome! I have had the other WCC physics professors, and Hagood is by far the best. He genuinely cares if his students do well (even if he seems a little cocky). Plus, he is always willing to answer questions. He knows his stuff!
I have never taken a physics class before in my life and it was hard! He's the best teacher to take at WCC tho. I got a B on all my exams but you have to basically teach yourself plus he lets you do test corrections. He does know his stuff. Super cocky but taking it with him was worth it.
He is not a good instructor at all. He is more interested in keeping everyone entertained so they don't notice that he doesn't know what he doing. I didn't learn anything!!
Annoying Teacher. If you want to STUDY and learn physics, do not take his class. If you like to discuss TV shows and Golf and spend time and tuition for that, this is the perfect class!Sorry, this is my opinion.
Avoid at all cost!!!
I never write scathing reviews of professors in any context. Their job is harder than most of us realize. This case is an exception. His lectures were incomprehensible. He did not attempt homework before assigning it, so he would mark wrong answers that he said were correct in office hours. Exams were irrelevant. Avoid at all costs. Seriously.
Didn't learn a single thing from him. Had a few homework assignments that could only be done by searching the internet. He's hard to follow during lectures and very boring. Nat a good class at all.
This class is terrible to begin with if you're not interested in the subject, and he does a good job of making you never want to take a class like it again; he doesn't respond to Emails, and has no people skills.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had! He doesnt even know what he is doing half the time, the worst part about it is that you have to listen to him blab on all class about nothing! DONT TAKE HIM!
Did not enjoy his section of the class. Technical communication is itself pretty dry, and he wasn't great at "communicating" the concepts to the students. Assignment grading didn't seem very consistent. Vaguely defined expectations.
He's not a bad person, but he is a bad 100 level professor. This is a serious weed out class. I wouldn't have survived without a tutor.
He tries hard to be a 'dude' and entertain, but doesn't teach at all. Too worried about his image and compensates it with a big cocky act. Tests are tricky and he rushes through the final chapters.
DO THE WORK and you will be fine. It is a lot of work but it prepares you well for exams. I don't know where all these negatives comments are from but I think he's excellent. He makes it fun! It's a long class so it is good that he makes it fun!
Pay attention in class and practice, and you will do well. He lets you take a formula sheet with anything on it to the exam, so you just have to know how to set up the problem. He's also a pretty chill guy in general.
I sat through one class and switched out. He rambles on about himself, is unprofessional (constantly swearing), and makes misogynistic remarks. NEVER in my life have I met a more unprofessional or offensive instructor. I'm not paying to chat with you while you try to relive your youth, I'm there as a serious student to study and learn.
Just stay away if you want to learn something
He's honestly the best and funniest teacher I've ever had. He keeps you entertained and makes a lot of jokes. Don't take if you take offense easily, but he's an amazing teacher. He really knows his stuff and doesn't get annoyed when you ask questions. I'm planning on taking him for physics 2
Rob does tend to go off on rabbit trails but it is physics. it would be an obnoxiously boring class if he didn't tell a story here and there. Rob is an excellent instructor. If you do the work you will have no problem getting an A. He gives nice long breaks and the labs are a lot of fun. the only homework is lab write ups. the class is great, easy
Rob can be inappropriate at times, he does swear on occasion, he does have the tendency to go off topic and try to relate the physics concepts to his life experience. But, so do I and so does every other human being I encounter. My experience of him is that he is a good representation of the real world. He allows note card for tests, boom!
He is visibly bored and uninterested with the content; not engaging. Frequently makes mistakes when teaching. Does not explain the concepts well. Heavy use of unreliable Webteaching and no use of the book, though you'll need to if you want to understand the material for the exam. Essentially, you teach yourself.
First off, if you're actually good at physics or you had AP Physics in high school, this won't be too bad. If you've completely forgotten about physics, don't pick this guy. He's awful at explaining even the simplest concepts, and his study sessions are even worse.
Rob would make a great friend, but he isn't a great professor. I went in for office hours when I had problems on the homework and he explained it all perfectly, but he never seemed to put that same effort in during class. He swears, constantly cracks jokes and goes off on long stories, will laugh at and with you, and can be really frustrating.
Rob was a good teacher and the class was straight forward. If you show up to class and participate you will get a good grade. Participation is all based on labs and the test were normal some were even open note.
Rob is the Worst professor I've ever had, hands down. Avoid like the plague. Cannot lecture, does not respond well to students, should not be in education.
He is an awful professor. He does try hard to explain things, but he has very poor communication skills. He tells stories.
He knows a lot about the subject, but he still knows show to actually teach. I had prior knowledge to physics from high school, a lot of people in the class struggled because they did not, my ease of the class might not be the same for all. If you go to class and ask questions when you need, which he likes, you should do fine.
Rob has questionable opinions and goes on long rants, but explains things pretty clearly. He's willing to help, although he covers material rapidly. Assigns a decent amount of homework, but mostly to help you get the concepts.
His lectures were off topic and barely covered the material we were discussing in the book. Rob also has questionable opinions and pushes those on his students .
I was prepared to hate Rob, he gives you the heads up that he's a jerk the first day of class. One timid girl dropped the class the first day! Really, Rob is a really nice guy, he knows his stuff, and he always welcomes questions, and help if you need it. A few exams and quizzes (with notes), a few labs, a few easy projects. It's a good class.
He can come across as rude. He will ramble on about his personal views. Very strange man, takes enjoyment in making people look/feel dumb which I found very unprofessional. On that note he is the most unprofessional professor/teacher/coach whatever you want to choose .
Very good man to be honest. Tries to act strict at times but he's a good person and very good teacher. He's one of the best at WCC and would recommend people to take his class. ps very good sense of humor!!
He tries hard to entertain, but doesn't teach at all.
This guy was condescending and made no effort to teach his class. He gives zero about his students and this is very clear in both his appearance and attendance at lecture. Avoid at all costs .
I love this guy. I never showed up to class just for exams and quizzes and I got an easy A. I didn't show up to classes because I had done all these stuff in high school. Take him you will not regrade it:)
He's super sarcastic, so if you're not into that type of humor, then I'd suggest not taking him. I appreciated his humor, but it certainly is not for everyone. As far as his teaching goes, however, he's very thorough and explains things well. He also incorporates a lot of interesting demonstrations in his lessons.
He rambles about stuff that doesnt matter and barely teaches anything so you just go do the crossword. I had maybe 2 pages of notes for each of the 4 tests, and that was all I needed to know to get an A since he only tests on the few things he says in class. I have no idea what I learned.
He's a good teacher, Go to office hours and study and do your homework.
I liked him, definitely is passionate about physics. Physics alone, hard to comprehend so you might want to support his lectures with Khan Academy. This isn't his fault, you just have to hear some of the concepts twice. I don't get why people are so mad that he rambles, he explains that he does it to give us a minute to absorb the information.
I study at the University of Michigan and the physics profs there are absolutely awful. I knew Rob before taking his class and I cannot tell you how much more I learned from him than from my actual university. Sense of humor is hilarious as well. Highly recommended if you want to actually understand the material you're being tested on.
Rob is very knowledgeable about physics. He's been teaching for many years and knows how to explain it to people who have never been exposed to this kind of science/math (no power points/ 1 lab write up). He does get off topic often, but to me I like that it gives me a mini mental break during class. Be prepared for some interesting humor.
Took his Elementary Ed Physics class and really liked it! Fun experiments, one project that lets you get up and teach in front of everyone. If you want to be in the spotlight of the class, sit at the table right in front of his desk. Don't buy the book, never used. Take notes, show up.
Really straightforward class. There are 5 or 6 quizzes that are 10 questions each as long as you show up to class and take notes you will pass the quizzes. There are 2 tests that are easy as well as long as you show up and take notes. You will be able to use a full page of notes for both the quizzes and tests.
Physics for Elem. Teachers: Rob was a really great teacher! His lectures are to the point and he makes physics easy to understand if you've never had a physics class before. There are quizzes, tests, and lab write ups: very easy work! As long as you go to class, pay attention, and take notes you will be fine! He allows a page of notes on tests too!
Rob tries hard to entertain, but doesn't teach at all. His lectures were off topic and barely covered the material we were discussing in the book. Rob also has questionable opinions and pushes those on his students .
Easy grade but useless boring lectures.
Rob tries to entertain you to keep you engaged which makes him go off topic a lot, but he's overall a good teacher he cares about his students. He also doesn't fail you if you actually try and show him your trying.
he is a great teacher gives you what you need. he will make you love physics.
Rob goes off topic during lecture into some pretty unprofessional areas so class is always pretty interesting(if you are sensitive don't take him you wimp. He uses students in his EXs). You have to finish the homework before the test(start at least 1 week before)and get a cheat sheet for the tests(include EXs from class on it). Hard, but manageable
This man helped me not hate physics and I actually looked forward to going to an 8am. He's a little crazy but that made class so much more enjoyable.
Had him for Physics 100 several years ago. He definitively stands out in my mind as by far the worst professor I have ever had. He doesn't explain things well; he just copies solutions to the homework problems from his binder onto the board. If you ask him why something is the way it is he always drops the ball on explaining. A cruel grader.
His class is very hard and every one drops and does bad.
Bad. Doesn't lecture well, very disorganized and unpredictable. Not sure what I'm learning in this class.
He rambles about stuff that are useless and barely teaches anything .
A waste of my time.
If you want your physics teacher to convince you of his ideologies about misogyny, politics, and religion, this is the class for you. Also, he has his own "method" he uses that is not in the textbook. He will meet with you during office hours, but it would be nice to use the text to figure things out.
He rambles about stuff that doesn't matter and barely teaches anything.
He rambles about useless things and barely teaches anything . All we did was doing useless labs. I did not learn any Physics. I will retake this class in Winter again.
You have to pay close attention to the tiniest details in lectures because they are on exams. For exams, you get a full cheat sheet front and back and labs are easy. Yaps more about things not related to Physics and says some questionable things. He doesn't really teach anything and tells you to ask about homework questions but won't answer them.
I understand why Rob's teaching style isn't everyone's cup of tea, but if you pay attention, come to class, and do your homework, you should be able to get a decent grade. This isn't a course you can slack off on, no matter the professor. Rob is a tough grader but he gives you plenty of opportunities to get at least partial credit on the exams.
Clear test rubric Does not follow the textbook that homework is assigned from Don't skip class Spends a significant amount of time discussing personal beliefs (politics, religion, gender, etc) Crams material at end of semester due to time wasted on previous point
Admittedly not for everyone, but this class added a bit of levity to this early morning class. I had a blast with this course and I enjoyed how often he got sidetracked because we got a bit of a break between loads of information.
I had a morning summer class. Omg I've never taken physics before and let me tell you. Every time we finished a test, I was right back at square one in terms of understanding the material, I really had to lock in during class. I watched so many videos with practice problems. Learning for me was all about repetition. Rob is brutal but knowledgeable.
Mr. Rob was very disorganized and unprepared. Not sure what I'm learning in this class. So far I am doing a C.
lowk dont listen to what everyone else is saying hes a chill prof and the best option there is for phy. bro is my goat ong i love his stories
Rob's class is tough, but if you stay engaged, do the work, and use resources like Unstuckstudy, you can succeed. Attendance is a must, and the grading is strict, but his knowledge is unquestionable.
Hagood is hilarious. He has so many irrelevant stories that have nothing to do with physics but you will learn a lot of random stuff about his life. Grading policy is unwavering but the content should not be too difficult if you pay attention
Professor Hagood is an amazing teacher. He gave us a lot of wiggle room in the matter of assignments and due dates if we have a VALID reason (unlike some other professors.) His lectures, while long, are imperative to your success in this class and without his explanations self studying was a nightmare. He loves talking about his personal life.
Rob is a great professor, he is very caring and wants students to succeed. This is a difficult course, especially like the last fourth of the semester, you need to study a lot to do great (to get an A). It is pretty difficult to get an A in this class but possible with a lot of study, it is not that difficult to get atleast a B in this course.
