Very sexy, good class, don't get on his bad side, BIG BOY!
I considered an INST minor just because of his class, but that`s going to far
I love this prof!!! He is the best prof ever!
Clear explinations, not a great workload, can get a good mark easy i got 93
very good prof--I loved taking this class
He was very good at giving notes and very nice. Fun class.
An interesting guy who tells lots of stories. Great class!
Awesome prof, if you need an elective this is the class, and the prof
super nice guy. easy class and awesome tests

east tests
Can do well only if you tell him what he wants to hear.
Rob was the best prof i've had in two years of university. I have learnt more in his one class than I have in all my other classes put together. He is very approachable and very helpful and his exams are very fair. I would take another class from him.
He is teaching this stupid University class, which sucks, but he is a good teacher! Good guy.
Can't believe Jaz didn't tell us about this guy yummy!!!!!!
use lots of footnotes and bibliography and you will get over an 80% on all your papers!!!
Awesome I love his intellect make me hot
Great prof.

Besides the class itself, I found him very unclear about things like assignment due dates. Also leaves the room at random times and reappears without telling the class. I felt patronized, though whether more by the class content or by him I'm not sure.
Talks a little fast, but very fair, and is interesting. I would recommend him to anyone
Terrible class but a great guy. this class is a cash grab but nestor makes it fun. Good guy, if ya can get in his class do so.
Rob is the best prof in the university. It's kind of hard not to get along with him. as long as you do your assignments you will pass, i wish he was my frof in all my classes. makes it interesting and fun!!
I took a Human Justice class that was supposed to involve justice issues. What I got was an Indian Studies class. Prof is a good guy but needs to make this class what it's supposed to be; HJ!
Rob may make this class appear to be an Indigenous Studies class but he gets to the root of what causes many associated justice issues. Good Prof, lays it out pretty comprehensively and in simple terms.
Very boring. Rob maybe a could professor but he does not show it.
Awesome Prof. I recommend this guy to anyone. His class material was very interesting, dealing with pre- contact up to the 1930's. Very easy going guy. Rob knows his stuff! One con about Rob is that he talks really fast when lecturing. Be prepared to take notes!
I think Rob is an amazing prof and person. He has a good sense of humour and a vast amount of knowledge. His classes were interesting and the marking was fair. Take this class if possible
Rob is nice. His lectures aren't boring at all and he gives out a lot of useful information.
I like this class. Very good professor. You can learn a lot of useful information. Helpful. It is easy to get "P" on the Pre-writing chart. But he speaks fast. Nevertheless, I like him!
Good at keeping students interested throughout his lectures.
Great teacher. i had INDG 100 and he was very organized and clear in his lectures. he always told you what perspective he was telling info from, always gave back story to what you were learning, and is always stressing what is important to know. Also he's just a great guy that you can't help but get along with. Very helpful if you need help as well
Very highly recommended. Tests are not hard, Rob is extremely personable and approachable. I felt very compelled to go to his lectures, he made the information interesting and easy to learn. Taking another class from him next semester.
He is a very good teacher who is very organized. I found I learned a lot and developed a very good understanding of the subject. I would HIGHLY suggest him. He is very helpful and wants you to suceed. He is clear about his expectations and doesn't trick you. As long as you show up, take good notes, and study, you'll be fine!!!!! :)
Rob is a nice, funny guy. But he talks so fast it is very hard to keep up with in class and none of his notes are posted. His his unclear about what is to be on the exams. He is a really great guy but he needs to slow down in class
Rob is a nice, funny guy. But he talks so fast it is very hard to keep up with in class, and none of his notes are posted. He is unclear about what is to be on the exams and duedates of assignments. He is a really great guy but he needs to slow down in class and clarify a bit more.
Seems like he genuinely cares about the topic. Lectures are interesting but he does talk really fast and everything he says is important, so if u take this class make sure you're a fast writer! Seems to be a fair marker tho, I studied for maybe a few hours for the midterm and got 74%, but the huge research paper sucks!
Good guy seems very nice.Ends there though. He is straight lecture with the odd 1 hour 15min movie that will put you to sleep at 8:30am. He talks super fast and everything he says is bascially on the tests and final. Take every single note. Doesn't post notes on webCT,boring class with a 10 page term paper!expects u to read alot in ur texts.
Rob is such a great proff definately one of my favorites. I found his class so interesting.
Great prof, is really approachable if you have any questions about the exams or papers. He does do a lot of video in the class, but make sure to make reference to those videos if you can within the exams or papers you have to write, he really likes that! I also had him for INDG 100, each time has been a great experience!
By far one of my fave profs. Very interesting and approachable. His door is always open for those who need clarity. Does talk kind of fast, but has no problem repeating or slowing down when asked. I have taken a couple classes with him and it's been nothing but a good experience. Luv his humor! Great prof...Take his class!!
Attendance in this class is mandatory for the most part, he lectures most of the time or shows a video. Most of the videos are fairly boring, but his lectures will keep you writing the whole time. He does let you out early often which makes up for it. He is very clear and keeps class entertaining.
A lot of assignments and long essays (15-20 pages). Pretty fair marker.
This class was good. This guy marks fair and if you present evidence in your papers you average will be above 90.
Nice guy, but as a student teacher I can really see how bad his teaching methods are. All he does is stand in front of the class and lecture off a piece of paper. Make sure to bring a laptop because there is no way you can write down everything he says. No notes are provided. Wouldn't take a class from this prof again.
He is a wonderful teacher and an awesome person. I have taken Soc from Lori b4 and compare to her Rob is the best anyone could possibly hope for. Although his lectures r a bit fast but if you listen and note the important terms & infos u would do great. I am not the best student nor English is my 1st language still I did better than i expected 82%
SOC213: He just read off stats Canada info, no theory and inconsistent marking among the students. Very dry class, proff is not very knowledgeable in this subject. Asked me to site and define things like what white collar job is, and completely missed when I mixed up two theories.
I really like this guy! He's a very fair marker, a genuinely nice guy and he didn't make me want to hit my head on the table like some of my other profs did. He does expect good work, but this is UNIVERSITY, get used to it. Would certainly take a class from him again. I look forward to it.
I liked his classes; however, they were pretty dry because all he really did was stand up front and read off of a paper or show videos. So yeah classes were boring, but it was a good class. A funny guy that is willing to help you! Tests aren't too bad and the essay is easy!
Great class! Rob was a really interesting prof. Tests and the paper were very easy. I would highly recommend this class and prof.
If you can take a night class with Rob, he aways cut short, or cancelled. He stands at the front and lectures slowly, but if you write down what he says (watch the movies) and pay attention, you will get a good mark. I really enjoyed this class and Rob as a instructor. Great guy and great class. Recommend it.
Rob usually cancels a lot of classes and the lectures are quite dry. the material is relevant to life and of you study and come to class, take notes during the videos you will receive a good grade. one big essay assignment, class average was usually high 70's
Awesome prof. Middy and Final were easy, but MC was a little tricky. Would definitely take a class from him again! Got a good mark with pretty much no studying...awesome guy to!
This prof might be really great in person, but online I would have to say this is one of the worst classes I have taken. Textbooks aren't required, but he provides links to about 8 books through the library, and the assignments are weighted poorly. Not good with responding to emails, very little engagement.
If you have no knowledge of Indigenous history or Indigenous Justice and programming this class will be difficult, since he assumes you already have the prior knowledge.
His classes are unbelievably boring. All the class consists of is listening to him talk while you frantically write down everything he says. If you are not fast at writing or typing this is not the class for you. He marks fairly easy but takes a really long time you get assignments back. He seems like a nice guy but just isn't a very good prof.
One of the worst profs I have ever had. His lectures are boring, all he does is read off of paper. I pay for classes for someone to actually teach it! All his notes were taken from the textbook. His marking for essays was pretty easy though. If you ask for help good luck! I tried all semester and he would not meet with me EVER!
This prof is dry and stands at the front of the room lecturing verbatim from his notes. The class was interesting, and the assignment load was light in comparison to some other profs
This class was Gov't society and business and although there was only a few people in my class this class was great! It was seminar style so we would just discuss different topics everyday. 2 small assignments, 1 paper and a final that didn't need to study for. Learnt alot and was very engaged!
Marked fairly. Reasonable amount of readings and easy final! Definitely recommend this class if you need an elective to boost your GPA!
This class was Sociology and Hockey in Canada, so if you like hockey it's going to be interesting. Lots of our class was devoted to small group and then class discussion. If there were particular videos or websites he wanted you to check out class was usually cancelled the next day. Very respectful and interesting prof, especially for the subject.
Rob was a great prof. I really enjoyed it. It was on the Sociology of Hockey in Canada. There were lots of people in my class who I'm sure never knew much about hockey but still really enjoyed class. I know I did and I found him to be a very great prof and would definitely take another class from him if I had the chance too. Great Prof!!
Rob was very passionate and I enjoyed his discussions. If you go to every class you can easily pick up enough to pass the class! he does a book review, midterm and final.
This course was so interesting and engaging, that it was easy to pass in the 80's.
Rob is a beauty. Sociology of Hockey in Canada is an easy class if you want to boost your GPA, not to mention very interesting and engaging.
He really cares about the material he teaches and get you to care too! Absolutely fantastic prof. 10/10. Also a great mark booster because as long as you show up and do the assignments you'll pass. He does assign a book review so be ready to read. Any class with Rob is a class I'd recommend. He is without a doubt one of the best profs at the U of R
This class was OK... I wouldn't take it again. There were two forum posts you had to do every 2-3 weeks. They weren't hard but you usually had to watch 2-3 hours worth of documentaries on top of your usual assigned readings. The final exam was a take home and three 1000 word essays that required lots of reading/research.
Dr. Nestor is a great prof and a very easy marker. As I took this as a summer class, there was a significant amount of reading and 2-4 forum posts each week. Grading was based on one paper, a forum reflection, and the final. Despite the reading, still a pretty easy elective for the summer and would be even better in the Fall/Winter.
Rob is a great prof and the material from this class was super interesting. Lots of videos, podcasts, and readings but I didn't find many of them mandatory. You're graded on a book review, forums and reflection, and a final and that's it. He gives you rubrics and if you follow them exactly you'll get a great mark. Funny guy and super understanding.
Topic of the course was great, prof wasnt. Didn't respond to emails prior to the final. Asked not to include examples in assignments but docked marks for not including examples. Had TAs who knew nothing about grammar dock marks for grammar usage. Course was about racism in Canada but used resources that only added on to racist beliefs
This prof is non-existent in online classes. I have taken all of my classes online, and yet this is the only prof that left me questioning why I even had a prof. All assignments are graded by the TA, you get zero feedback from the prof. Class discussion is lead by students, yet are not graded properly and prof has no interaction with students.
Rob is a great prof. Course is a book review, forum posts/reflection, and final. He is strict with referencing and citations but is a fair marker. Loved the class, highly recommend him and his classes.
This class was awesome. The prof arranged the textbook himself and the assignments were very straight-forward. It was a pleasure to take such a rare class.
I think this is my third class taken with Rob, and would definitely take more. His classes are straight forward and a mixture of reading and videos. He is easy to get ahold of and is understanding to students circumstances. He truely cares about all his students passing and is a great prof. Highly recommend.
Rob is a great prof! If you like hockey this is the perfect class. It has one midterm, a book report and a final. If you show up you will pass with flying colours. He makes lectures fun and entertaining while also getting the class engaged in great debates. Highly recommend taking this class, Rob was awesome and I would love to take his class again
The material was meaningful, however, how he marked and prepared exams were mediocore. He also puts forward material that is controversial and does not explain his intentions. For instance, he made us review the Colten Boushie book which was very controversial because the author did not get approval from the family. He avoided giving context.
Pretty easy class. Read the lectures and watch the movies and you'll easily pass the his take home final exams. Really makes participation fun in his online classes and not just about answering questions that contain lecture material for the answers.
justice studies 100 was v good with him. if u show up you'll get 90
Super nice guy. Lectures aren't heavy at all, and he is very clear. Really good prof. Very funny, nice, and easily approachable. One of the best profs I've had
LOVED HIM VERY MUCH. SO PASSIONATE ABOUT HIS TOPICS. WOULD TAKE AGAIN. EASY PASS.
really good prof, light lecture material and engages the class at any opportunity. only graded assignments were the midterm, a paper and the final. oveall good guy
His is setup is awful. Doesn't post a thing to URCourses. No lectures or grades. His monthly pop quizzes are bogus. Questions can be "what was the judges name who proctored R. V. *Example* case?". Rather than questions that are actually about what needs to be learned. His lectures consist of him speaking while students jot down as fast as you can.
This was a stupid easy class. Took it online and was marked on a term paper, reflection paper and the take-home final exam. I did not do a single reading in the course and only skimmed the textbooks to find what I needed to answer the reflection paper and the final exam. HIGHLY recommend this class as an easy elective! Rob is a nice guy, good class
This prof was not the most helpful. He often cancelled classes, he did not give help to those who asked, and his quiz's were irrelevant and more challenging than they needed to be.
Rob has been by far my favourite prof in my 4 years at the U of R. I have taken 4 other courses from him and have never had a bad experience. Runs his online courses with the same format for each one he teaches which makes it easy to get used to. Usually one major paper but he gives really good feedback and grades fairly. My #1 prof to try and take
Great guy Midterm small 4-5 page paper on a hockey novel biography etc and final. Only read book the was assigned day of final got a 95% and Im a 65-70 student. Tests consisted of short answer and Jong answer questions. Some people say hes Unapproachable but thats nothing of the sort. Talk to him after class and chew the fat with him Get engage!
Taking SOC218 with Rob was very enjoyable. He made the class very fair to students, and was clear cut on the material that was being graded. Overall I would recommend him to anyone that enjoys the game of hockey and is also eager to learn.
Have had professor Nestor 2 times before and gotten above 85 easily both times. Courses were online with 6 forums posts, 1 paper, and a take home final. Wrote the paper 4 days before it was due and received a 90%. Would recommend him to anyone and the e-mails I have sent him he has responded within a day. Seems like an awesome and great guy too.
Good prof take again
One of my favourite profs. He is extremely knowledgeable and funny. He does not overwhelm you with work. Our class was graded through attendance, a paper proposal, a presentation (based on the paper proposal), providing feedback to classmates, a paper (based on the presentation), and a take-home final. Participation is a huge aspect of his class.
Rob is amazing! Very approachable and understanding. Funny guy and he's able to tell us personal stories about almost every video we watched. We were a bit apprehensive about a white man teaching a group of Indigenous students about our own history but I couldn't have hoped for anyone better. 10/10 would take him again.
I had to leave a review for Rob because trust me, you have to take his class. I've taken 5 classes with him all in the online format, and it's so relaxed and easy. 85+ is beyond doable as long as you can write decent forum posts that follow his criteria, and you hand in your stuff (book review, reflection, take home final). GOAT material.
good prof, information is mostly relevant except for his use of outdated and severely bias textbooks (mostly people just complaining instead of factual and meaningful information). Assignments are meaningful and related to the course, forums are amazing in his courses, and grading criteria is mostly clear.
i took his class online so cant say much about him but his class was easy but makes you buy a lot of books
LOTS OF WORK! You need to do lots and lots and lots of writing and reading. Even though it's an online class it is so time consuming. Professor Nestor is a pretty good marker, but it is hard to get back marks if you feel anything was unjustified.
Professor Nestor's SOC222 class is a breeze. As long as you complete the forums, paper, and take-home final, an A is easily achievable. Unstuck study and the textbook are great study aids too.
