very interesting class, well-taught, nice guy, I highly recommend it
Nice guy, always wants to help, cares about his students, very knowledgeable
Enthusiastic about his work...good class
really nice man, really boring class, he tries to make it fun though
THE most amazing I have ever had. Awesome class!!!
really nice and a really good teacher..gives explanations and makes jokes
Easy coloqium. Only 3 papers. Class can be boring, but very nice man.
Really nice guy. Do readings and study guide according to syllabus to get A
I thought this class was great. I would definitely recommend it.

pretty boring class, he likes to hear himself talk..tests are ridiculously long.
Worst Teacher in department
Really enthusiastic. Likes his jod and makes class fun.wants class participation
Discussion based, nice and fun prof, easy, 3 papers, interesting....take class!
Nice guy, 3 papers, a hard grader though
stupid class, didn't learn anything, but it was pretty easy, hes an easy grader
Highly recommend! He likes the subject, is knowledgeable and fun while teaching.
Easy but boring. Take it for an A, but don't intend on learning much.
boring
EASY CLASS
Nice guy, but really long exams and boring lectures
The sweetest, most easygoing professor I've had.
One of my favorite professors. Makes class fun and informative
Awesome class. If you like discussion based classes, TAKE IT!
Great prof and class-learn a lot; tests can be hard-study!; easy project
nice guy, exams very conceptual, read the book, talks a lot
I took the online version of the class. It was supposedly a lot easier.
Hard Long exams, only grade is exams if u take it online, keep up with readings

boring, ego-maniac, too many religious messages
Nice guy... you have to study but tests aren't that bad. Go to lecture - he tells you everything you need to know.
He is a lerned professor, but there are a LOT of references to religion and you HAVE to read the book to do well.
GREAT CLASS, GREAT PROFESSOR! I dreaded this course but it turned out to be my favorite. He is such a nice guy and very understanding and helpful. Definitely recommend!
went to class when I felt like it, never read a page in the book, copied other peoples notes, got a B+ TAKE IT
This man is genuinely kind. His exams are challenging, extra credit helps a lot. Also, go to class not all class notes are in book.
I love Doctor Rob! He is so funny and nice - a real person. Just take good notes, come to class, read, you'll be fine. Kept me awake and laughing at EIGHT AM! Come to class, he gives easy as pie pop quizzes that help your grade.
INCREDIBLE! A great teacher. 8am but he told us the first day they were forcing him to teach that early.. Definitely partied in college. Go to class he takes attendance but its worth all the real life knowledge he brings to the class to go..
Great Prof.! He tells very interesting stories even at 8 am... study and pay attention in class.. and you will be fine
soo nice, always had a funny comment. enjoyed listening to him talk. he could get to the point a little quicker!
Dr rob is so awesome, he knows what he is talking about and her really wants you to learn. he is so helpful and kind. i recommend him highly
Very nice man, pretty easy class. You HAVE to go to class, he gives simple pop quizzes for attendance but you do NOT have to buy the book. I only studied my notes and used the book's companion website and did good.
Dr. P. is an extremely brilliant man, and definitely knows his stuff! However, his tests tended to be tricky, and the exams covered too much information. I took this class as an elective expecting to get an A, but got a B, affecting my GPA.
Had Dr. Palkovitz for Life Span. Great lecturer, class is very interesting. Tests cover a lot of material, but it is very straight forward. Highly recommended!
Great teacher.u learn so much from him. i loved his class. He is a funny guy, so that makes class a lot better. his tests were very hard and very wordy. But u leave the class knowing a lot of info about life!
Extreme amount of work and studying for a 200-level class... he's a really nice guy but most people tended to fall asleep during lectures... he's very into the subject matter but unfortunately unable to keep the class interested... very helpful with your paper that's worth 1/4 of your grade... he'll edit as many times as you want him to!!!
Really nice guy who tells lots of interesting stories, he really knows his stuff and loves his subject. Lecture can be kinda boring or really interesting depending on the topic of it. Must take good notes and study the book. REquires a lot of outside studying and reading. Test questions can get tricky but overall its not bad - harder A, easy B.
He's a really good teacher even tho the class has sooo much work and reading, be prepared to take alot of notes because he doesn't put Powerpoints on webct, very helpful, nice guy and funny too
tightest man alive. need to go to lectures, but his jokes make it interesting. he has the humor of a sixth grader, but it's hilarious coming from a professor, and his delivery is spot on. def recommend this class if you're a guy, since there's tons of cute nursing majors who take this class. did i mention that Dr. Rob is the tightest man alive?
Be prepared to do a whole lot of tedious reading that is never ending. His lectures are so boring and he tries hard to be funny but it's not amusing at all. Do well on the test because it's hard to do well after you do poorly on one of them
Dr. P is a great teacher, this class is challenging, but when you finish the class you will feel like you accomplished something,. attend all lectures read the book and study what he tells you and you'll be fine. lectures are straight from the book but he elaborates on what is in the book. He's very willing to help when things are unclear.
The research proposal project that's due at the end of the semester is a PAIN IN THE ASS!!! get a head start on it or you'll be ready to kill yourself around the due date... make sure you read the book b/c if you read the book the exams are VERY easy, but if you don't read they're very difficult...class is ungodly boring but attendance is mandatory
difficult class. tons of notes each day, and readings are a must. however i thoroughly enjoyed going everyday b/c he made it a lot of fun. does random attendance quizzes, so attendence is somewhat mandatory.
GREAT professor! Really knows his stuff. Make sure to read the book and use online study guide
Really nice guy but class is mad hard. You have to read the text along with the notes and dont procrastinate it because it will kill you when you have to take the tests. Tests are all applying theories so they're pretty hard. One paper worth 75 points. The paper will really help your grade. Come to class because he takes very random attendance.
Professor loves to use powerpoints
Good guy. Very down-to-earth and easy to talk to. Tests are reasonable, they're all multiple choice. Questions come from lectures and textbook. Recommended.
love dr rob! he is awesome and so is his TA grant! he is very down to earth and makes you appreciate things like being able to attend college. he is into nature and is really laid back.
I loved this class! Dr. P gives extra credit, study guides before the test and random attendance quizzes that boost your grade. Tests aren't as easy as I thought but he's hilarious and makes class so interesting and shows lots of little videos. take this class it's great
This was an excellent class. Funny Stories. Interesting lectures. He makes you learn a lot.
I learned a lot from his class, lectures are hard. But there is not escaping it when your a human services or nursing major. So just sit through the lectures, show up, sleep, and do your own studying. He thinks he is funny, but in class notes are needed for impossible exams. I got a C+ but then again I got Ds on every exams. Do extra credit.
Most amazing professor I've ever had at UD! He honestly cares about his students and really goes out of his way. Makes class interesting, shows lots of youtube clips and diagrams to help students understand. Definitely take!
Palkovitz is a great professor as well as a great guy. He is passionate about his material and utilizes real life examples into his teaching that really aid learning. I highly recommend this class to anyone who is interested in life span development.
Great guy- very knowledgeable and interesting. He gets you thinking. You don't have to go to class if you can get the notes elsewhere, but he's entertaining to listen to. Hard tests, reading is important, but huge EC opportunities and 1 simple paper.
Palkovitz is the man! One of the best professors I´ve had at UD.
What an amazing teacher. He really knows what he's talking about and applies his own life experiences and research (he is very accomplished!) to what we're learning. Definitely makes the class interesting with stories and jokes too. Make sure to blog for XC, because it really helps!
Palkovitz is definitely one of my professors!! Very approachable, lecture is easy enough to follow. Provides study guides for exams and blogs to for EC. If you have to take this course, I HIGHLY recommend that you take it with him!
Definitely read the book for this class, the majority of test questions come from there. You do not, however, need the newest edition of the book. Professor is OK. He tries to force his views (esp. religious) on you. Some of his jokes are funny but are mostly subtle/dorky. 3 mc tests and a 5 page essay. Take good notes, but like I said, READ BOOK!
This class was very boring in my opinion. He basically read off the slides and his jokes were corny. However, you can tell he enjoys teaching and he loves the subject matter. Attendance is important and so is reading the book. The exams were a bit hard but its all based on the book and a couple of random slides.
This class was absolutely amazing. I wish I could take it over and over again. Professor Palkovitz is inspiring, funny, passionate, and an excellent professor. Textbook use is high, but the textbook is AMAZING. I read it cover to cover, and I won't be selling it back. Definitely take this class with Professor Palkovitz. :)
I loved this class. Palko makes the material interesting. Reading the book helps, but is not necessary for the exams. The TA gives a review guide before each exam. So just know the material on there and you'll be fine. There is 2 exams, a paper, and a final. He makes a lot of jokes in class, which makes the time go by faster.
I thought his lectures were pretty boring, but he is passionate about life and what he teaches. There are three exams and they are not too bad, but you need to study a good amount for them. There are extra credit opportunities before each test and there is one paper. Attendance quizzes (2 for the semester) are given at random. Overall, good class.
Palkovitz is an easygoing, personable guy. He adds a lot to the class with his experiences and research. Must go to get notes, and must read textbook to succeed on exams. Paper was an interesting assignment. Very helpful- I slept through an exam and he let me make it up the next day. Decent class.
The class is surprisingly challenging. When you learn it, you think it's all common sense but you actually have to study because his exams are not easy. Must attend lecture to get notes because he does test on that. Also, READ THE BOOK. Each chapter is SO long and waiting last minute will make it impossible for you to do well. Similar to psych.
Took this course over winter online...don't get me wrong he's a really nice, understanding guy. But watching the online lectures is brutal. He's constantly talking about his life and how it relates. That's great, but that's not what's on the exam. Have to watch the lectures and have to read the book.
Really helpful when studying for exams. You can tell that he really loves his job and is interested in his work. He definitely looks out for his students and cares about each person. Easily my favorite professor at UD.
He is the sweetest and most caring professor. He TRULY wants everyone to do well, and absolutely loves what he does. You think the material is common sense, but tests are difficult. You MUST read the book. Half of test questions come from there. Notes are long. He adds a lot of his own info. GREAT professor and a difficult but interesting class.
This class isn't too bad. I skipped a lot and just caught up on course capture. I still finished with a solid B. He makes class funny so time goes by faster. He's a bit of a rambler but what can ya do.. not bad but def not an easy A.
Although the topics that are discussed in class are interesting, Professor Palkovitz does not cover the information needed in order to succeed on exams. He is hard to follow in his lectures and includes information that is unnecessary. His tests are extremely difficult and includes material that is not important
The class is supposed to be easy but he makes it confusing... Class is so boring... You have to read every section of every chapter and memorize it on top of memorizing everything he says in class to get an A. He's a nice guy and is willing to help but I wouldn't recommend his class to anyone
HE IS THE WORST. STAY AWAY. Reading the ENTIRE textbook is the only way to make it through. He teaches this class like a 400 level doctorate course. His lectures are painfully boring and barely give you any material on the exam. An A requires you to teach 90% of the material to yourself. Exams are impossible, he curves each one b/c everyone fails
Exams are very difficult, lectures are painfully boring, makes jokes that no one laughs at which makes for awkward silences. Bad professor, do not recommend
This class is horrible and the professor is a nice guy, but he's really confusing and the tests are extremely difficult. You need to do all the readings and go to class and take notes at lecture to even pass the class.
Not going to lie, never went to this class except for exam days (I had work at the same time), UD capture proved to be extremely helpful! His exams are not definition based, he asks situational type questions. Overall he's a super nice professor but definitely not an easy A.
Super nice guy, tests aren't hard, fairly straight-forward class. Didn't study for the exams until the night before and got As on all of them. Just try to keep up with the readings as much as you can because you don't want to be doing all of them the night before. His lectures are often separate from the book and his tests are based on both.
Pretty nice guy but you're gonna fail the class if you don't read the textbook and know everything. Tests are almost all conceptual questions, meaning just memorizing definitions won't get you anywhere. He had a pretty good curve on every exam though, so my 88 in the class gave me an A as a final grade. Not easy but not impossible either.
Dr. Palkovitz is a great guy and will definitely help you if needed. However, his lectures are very very long and hard to get through with lots of material. The exams are quite difficult, but he curves significantly. Class is not mandatory because of capture. READ THE BOOK! Tests are based off of in class and book and are all conceptual.
Palkovitz is just about the most boring professor I have ever had. His lectures are long and the information doesn't make sense. The study guides he gives are very vague. If you have to take him, there are 3 exams (including the final) and he purposely makes them hard and 1 essay which is an easy grade. Study your class notes and know your vocab.
don't take this class professor is nice guy but extremely boring lectures material is hard to comprehend tests are crazy hard have to read the book to pass or else u will fail and not get anything
If you're interested in the material and pay attention in class you will love his class. He relates almost everything to interesting stories about his own life and is great about responding to emails. If you show effort, he's more than happy to help you. Not a lot of work, but if you struggle truly understanding the material, studying is a MUST.
Class is beyond boring. He doesn't put his slides online, but there's UD Capture. Exams are difficult because they pay attention to little detail. Luckily, the paper brings up your grade. He's a very nice man with pretty funny jokes that most people miss.
I wish someone would have told me to take this class with a different professor. I read good reviews on here so I thought I would like him. This professor is one of the most cocky people I have ever encountered. I spent SO much time studying for this class and my grade didn't reflect it. He treats us like we are 4 years old.
Hard class. Have to read the entire textbook and know everything from lecture. A lot of info with a lot of tricky intuitive test questions (multiple choice). A typical psych class with a scope on human development. Very dry material. The paper boosts grades. 3 tests, all very challenging. Studied for hours and didn't get a good outcome.
Really Great guy, but you have to work hard if you want a good grade.
You can tell the professor loves the subject he teaches. Very passionate. but hard class. must listen to lectures and read the book. He does curve though and the paper at the end is an easy grade booster.
Had to take this class as a requirement Besides the fact that he is funny the class is very hard. I studied for hours and still did not see good results. You must read theentire textbook the lectures barely help I would recommend taking another teacher that is easier
this class is impossible if you miss class. you have to go and have to pay attention. tests are hard and lectures are long boring. only three homework assignments and one paper but no extra credit or grade curves. reading the book helps a lot.
Basically the greatest human on the planet. People complain that his tests are difficult, but probably 80% of his tests are common sense. If you read the book and take notes in lecture and study like a normal person the class will not only be a breeze, it will be the highlight of your everyotherday, the reason you wake up in the morning.
Take a different professor!
Rob is the best professor I have had this semester. He is helpful and funny. The class, however, is a little challenging. You need to read the book, and you need to go to lecture. The tests are tough. You need to study to get the grade you want. Honestly though, if you work hard you can get an A. Lectures are a bit confusing, as well.
Not the best UD professor but not the worst. His class is easy to pass but difficult to get an A (the online book tools will become your best friend when studying for his exams). What you take away from this class depends on how much you put into it -he gives you the tools to succeed, but you need to find ways to apply them.
Love him! He is very interested in what he teaches, and his passion shows! He is a nice guy to talk to, and interact with. If you go to class and participate you will do just fine!!!
This class was taken as a requirement for my major. HDFS201 was not hard, but not easy. The way his course is graded is on a points scale. I didn't do well at all on the three exams and the final, but got 100% on all of my HW and a 94% on the paper. Because of his grading scale, I managed to pass the class with a C-, almost up to a C.
Dr. Palkovitz is a nice guy. Yes he does tell personal stories a lot but if you think about it, its really helpful in understanding the material by making it real life. You need to go to lectures because notes are not posted online. The homework is very easy. He curves exams so they aren't too bad if you get the general idea of things.
Dr. Palkovitz is one of the best professors I have had. His class is a little challenging but I learned more in his class than any other class I have taken. He applies everything to our daily lives which really makes it easy to understand better. If you go to class, do the homework and do well on the paper you should end up with a decent grade.
This guy is very passionate with his work but that makes the class harder than it has to be. He uses a combo of lecture notes and book material on tests so sometimes its difficult to discern what will be on exams. He doesn't post his slides so you will have to take notes. If you want an A, read the key terms in each chapter and take good notes.
Only class I have actually felt sad if I missed, not for fear of falling behind, but that his lectures are so interesting and hes got a great sense of humor both in class and even on the exams which are a little difficult but its ok
He is a very nice professor, but... Tests are hard, he does not use UD capture, and the lectures do help with the material on the test. The Book is essential for mastering this material. This class you need to treat with a priority if you want anything higher than a B or B-. For nursing majors this is a required course. Be warned, this is not easy.
Rob Palkovitz is an awesome human being, he is one of the nicest professors I have ever had, and it is clear that he loves what he does. However, that being said, his class has a TON of reading in my opinion and I probably would not take it if you have a hectic schedule already. Overall, I enjoyed his class and learned a lot.
dr. palkovitz was great. easy homework assignments once/twice a week, 3-4 exams that were a little difficult (make sure to study) and 1 easy paper at the end of the semester that i did the night before and got a 100. all lectures but i found them to be interesting. tells a lot of dad jokes, tries to get everyone engaged, really really nice guy.
Dr. Palkovitz really knows what he's talking about and has a lot of life experience, which is nice. He tries to be funny in class which is kinda painful to sit through. The exams are so much more difficult than they need to be.
Palkovitz is such an awesome professor! He incorporates a lot of stories about his life and adventures into his lectures and really wants his students to do well. The homework is online, doesn't take too long, and you do them about 2-3 times a week. Exams are tough but the only written assignment is an easy A. He tries to be funny, it's appreciated
difficult exams, but not impossible. Theres a paper worth 50 points that is graded nicely and homework assignments that equal an exam grade so get all of those points and you'll be good. Even though it is a difficult class he drops a lot of real life knowledge and i actually left class feeling like i learned something i can apply to my career.
He's clearly super passionate about the topic but the lectures are pretty brutal to sit through. Some of the material is interesting but he makes his tests WAY too hard for a 200 level class. Absolutely do not take it with him if you have a busy semester because test-prep is time consuming
Life span development was a hard class and difficult to get above a B on exams, but I feel like regardless of my grade in the class I learned a lot from Palkovitz that will help me throughout the rest of my life and the course of my college/ professional career. Take this class if you need an extra and don't already have a heavy course load
He singlehandedly RUINED my senior year. I have developed severe back problems from hunching/stressing while studying for his obscenely long and difficult exams. Exams are 75 multiple choice and final is 100!!!!!!! Literally if you can take with anyone else, I STRONGLY advise. This is an introductory course and he does not treat it like one.
Dr. Palkovitz is one of my favorite professors at UD. On the first day, he told us his exams would be based on lectures and the textbook - don't take it as a joke. READ THE ENTIRE BOOK (and not just the highlighted parts). It's a lot of work, but your grade will be worth the effort. There's one paper - graded fairly. His lectures are just amazing
It is impossible to tell how well you are doing in his class because of his curve, but his curve saves your life. Read the textbook chapters from day 1, and maybe his notes. His exams are difficult, but not as difficult if you read the textbook thoroughly. Work with the TA for the paper, and do the homework and you should do well. But he is hard
Palkovitz was given a round of applause by the entire lecture hall on the last day of class... you are going to college for classes like this!! This class is more than just a class, its meaninful to life. I cannot advise you enough to take this class! Palkovitzs class consists of a weekly homework/chapter to read, 3 exams, and a paper. AMAZING MAN!
Be ready for lectures but they're not that boring just a lot of notes. He really cares and puts a lot of time in making sure you learn things you can actually apply to real life. He opens the class up to really interesting conversations and really helps you understand and think about life. I loved this class.
Terrible and boring teacher. The lectures are very dry and dense. Exams are hard no matter what you study. There is one paper that I thought would save my grade, but he grades that harshly too. Grading is ridiculous and curves do not make any sense. Do yourself a favor and do not take this class unless you want a C.
The tests definitely are difficult, but the information is generally pretty intuitive- about life and how people behave and change. He does put a good amount of stuff on the test that he says directly in class, so I highly recommend paying attention. Homeworks are easy but annoying to have to do. One of my favorite classes and professors so far.
He thinks he's the next Freud. He literally teaches his opinions and his exams are hard af. Beware nursing majors, I got an A in orgo and could barely pull an A- in this class. The paper and hw will pull u up a lot tho. Study his class notes, things that seem subjective aren't his opinion is always the answer.
Best man. He is obviously very passionate about his field (particularly family/fatherhood), and his stories always entertained me. For exams, know the PowerPoints and textbook definitions. I thought the exams were fairly straightforward especially if you go to class since he writes them exactly like talks. He does curve!
Exams are very difficult that if there was not a curve everyone would fail. Theres 3 exams including the final and homework and one paper that is really easy.
Easy online class there is no homework and no assignments the only thing that goes toward your grade are 3 exams The online lectures are boring and test are hard but class is curved at the end
He is a good guy but talks about himself a lot.3 exams and one is the final,15% of the final is cumulative, one paper. Homework assignments twice a week they're easy but time consuming. The exams are HARD, need to think the way he is in order to do well. I got a B on the first one and a C on the other. Doesnt post slides online, need to go to class
he is an interesting guy, but the tests kind of killed me. really interesting material. you will have to study a lot because its hard to get a good grade on his tests and not much else goes into your grade.
Palkovitz is an amazing guy. The class isnt an easy A but it is managable. I loved attending his lectures. exams are all about application
I loved Dr. Palkovitz and everything he taught, you could tell he was passionate about everything he said. However, if you don't find the material interesting and are just taking for credit, it could be hard to sit through. As long as you apply yourself and listen to what he says in lecture (don't just copy slides!), you will pass no problem.
Dr. Palko made the course interesting and applied it individually to the class to fully grasp the material. I believe we all learned from one another in this class and I would love to take another course with Dr. Palkovitz.
