Great guy, nice sense of humor, fair grading. Too bad he isn't a permanent professor
Mr. Mace is smart AND hot....what more could anyone want?
Do yourself a favor and don't take this man if you actually want to learn. I almost cried the first day of class because he did not TEACH anything! If you don't remember anything from high school, then don't take this class because you will be lost.
Mr. Mace is very hot and smart not to mention a killer personality, I almost failed math just so I could take him again:)
Wonderful teacher, he really relates well with his students and I would definately take him again for math. I wish he was a permanent professor here at marshall. he would be a great asset

rob roy is the hottest professor ever...and the smartest...what i wouldnt give to be that man! HAHA 486
I rocked, he rocked, we both rocked, he made the class something obtainable for me.
The best Math teacher I ever had.
best professor at marshall.
Professor N rocks. If you think he's hot now you should see him in his streaking outfit doing the toothpick trick. Don't miss out on the chance to see him live singing about graham crackers and marshmallows.
Rob-Roy has got to the hottest professor on campus!!

ROB ROY is the bestest teacher on campus!
Very helpful professor and willing to give his time with your questions
What I dig most about Professor Mace is when he wears his thin white dress shirt. You can see his HOT tattoo through his shirt. He is the greatest!
mr. mace is a great math teacher. i learned alot and he was always willing to re-teach or go over things numerous times for any of the students. he has a great personality and a good bit of energy for his 8 am class. he was the first math teacher to ever make the subject enjoyable for me!
Professor Mace made this potentially boring class into a very interesting one. I can honestly say that this was my favorite class. His eagerness to help you learn is definitely a plus, and is always willing to explain concepts over again. To sum it up, a great professor.
Great professor. Relates really well to his students, and turns an 8 a.m. class into an interesting one.
ROY IS MY BOY...this man should earn a noble prize for teaching math,
Rob-Roy seemed to be quite interesting until he came on to my little sister after class. yeah...thats where i draw the line PREFESSOR N!! but the man does know his theorums.
Mr. Mace is very funny guy, who tries to make learning math fun and not scary. I really enjoyed him and his class. I would recommed anyone taking Math 127, to take him, you will not regret it. He is totally fair in grading and tries his best to make sure you understand material you will be tested on
He was really entertaing! He made our class laugh. He was helpful. He used a different approach to teaching. He tries to make us understand whats going on. The class is just not that interesting, but he makes it as interesting as it can be!

I hate math, and Rob Roy made this class actually enjoyable. I made a D in my last math class, but I'm set to get an A in this one because he's such a great teacher. He tries to get you to understand the concept of the math, instead of just how to do it. He is very helpful, and very clear. Tests are semi-easy, but he'll go out of his way to help.
He is a jerk. He is a very big smart-alec. And whatever you do, don't ask him to explain anything, b/c he goes off on some path ranting about math and how its a beautiful language. I have come to despise this class as the semester goes on.
He was an alright teacher. he had a habit of going off on random rants about different things in math, it made it hard to follow in his class. His explanations aren't always very clear, but he does care that you learn and will gladly help if you need it. but once again, his help can get confusing at times
Rob Roy thats all i have to say
He is a very nice guy! he helped me out a lot when I didn't understand and gave me lots of "partial" credit because i really tried. if you a re a really smart person....don't take his class because you won't understand him, he teaches in ways that normal people understand :)
He is an awesome teacher. I dont think I'd ever gotten an A in math and now I have. Very willing to help and more than willing to give LOTS of extra credit
good professor...he is always willing to help you out...he really wants his students to learn and he is passionate about the subject..take him=)
His tests can be a tiny bit challenging, if you don't know/haven't had the material before. But the material itself is fairly easy. He tries to make class interesting by talking loud and making weird voices sometimes, but he's a pretty cool guy. I'd take him again.
This professor was a very interesting and very nice person in general. He really works with students, and makes every effort to help them pass his class and be ready for the final. He only assigns homework to help on quizzes and it is not mandatory as he doesn't take it up.
I recommend you do the homework even though he doesn't collect it and also study hard for the tests. He is willing to help you as much as he can and is a nice guy. However, his lecture can be confusing at times and his tests can be difficult if you're not prepared. Not a terrible professor but not great either.
Awesome teacher, extremely smart and is very helpful. Assigns lots of hw, but didn't take it up. It definitely helps you on the tests tho, which can be a little hard if you don't know the material.
funny, very nice
Funny guy, very nice, and tries very hard to be as helpful as possible. Homework in every class, but not required, although it helps on quizzes and tests. Gives TONS of partial credit on tests. If you know SOMETHING about the problem, write it down and you'll get a few points for it. Would take him again.
super nice, funny, extremely helpful. he appreciates when a student come by and ask for help. Always smiles. Gives tons of homework every class but it's not required. quizes are made to improve students grades so if u miss on doesn't hurt ur grade in class in other words it benefits u and never hurt u if u do bad on them. take him u will NOT regret
He is very funny and nice. If your not good at math I wouldnt recommend him though. The homework isn't mandatory but you should do it because youll be lost with out it. I think he was a good teacher over all.
really nice guy, always offers help, class is pretty difficult but if you go to his office hours it helps a lot
mace is the man. very helpful and keeps your interest in an otherwise boring subject...seems pretty cool too
Mace is always available to help students IF you approach him. He gives partial credit even if you draw a smiley face for an answer. THIS does not mean you will get an A in his class. Most kids work their ass off and get a C at the highest. His tests are very hard. He does not curve the tests. Unless you are naturally smart at math. Avoid him
Rob-Roy was great. The class is everyday and very fast paced. New material is taught everyday however he will meet with you during his office gours for any additional help. He is very nice and understanding there were a few take home quizzes if that can help you out. Highly reccommend him if you somewhat already understand algebra!
Do not take. Class 5 days a week is ridiculous. I have a life and don't care about math.
Professor mace is a great teacher! He is always willing to help and even though he grades a little hard anyone who trys should have no problem passing.
Mace is AWESOME. The class is everyday but I didn't mind oat all because he was interesting and made the subject fun. I wish I had done better than a C but I believe I have learned the most about math in his class! I would def. take him again!
Dropped after three weeks, my class started with about 25+ students and ended with 6 who all got D's or failed. Ask him a question, he'll answer with the most complicated answer or just lay his head on the desk (as he did to me once). Tests are insanely difficult. Avoid!!!
Rob Roy makes math Confusing! I never had issues with math until his class and now I'll be lucky if I pass. If you ask him a question he goes way off and makes you even more confused. He hardly gives problems with numbers, wants you to explain the steps or how you would hypothetically do the problems, if it had numbers. LIKE I SAID, CONFUSING!
Mr. Mace is awlsome, I would recommed him. He knows how to do math and he makes it fun. The tests are difficult but if you do the howework you will do fine. He gives alot of extra credit. Plus he is nice!
He is an excellent teacher. Sometimes I am sitting there wandering where he is going to go with something but when he is finally finished I am amazed by what he just showed me. I recommend him only if you have a love for math and it comes easy to you!
The coursework was challenging, but he's a great professor. He's super funny, so I didn't mind showing up for class. He mostly assigned the Qs at the end of the chapters and then took questions. Best math teacher I've had at MU.
Best math experience ive so far in my college career. Master mace knows his stuff and doesn't stop his work until you're thinking on his level. He really prepares you for high mathematics if your on that current path. If you want an A without trying take someone else. Else-if enjoy Master Mace's wisdom.
Other than the proofs that were confusing, I enjoyed this class. Make sure to take Cusick for 229 if you liked Mace.
Possibly the most entertaining math teach in the world! He makes you want to come to class. His class is NOT easy! You have to put in a lot of time and work if you want to pass. He will help you with anything, all you have to do is ask! Extremely helpful. Would definitely take again.
He is helpful if you can keep up with his explanations. His homework and study guides are what you're tested on and he answers any questions you bring up in class. He is a little eccentric though.
Very helpful. Math 5 days a week is difficult but teacher is helpful.
This is a difficult course. You have to put a lot of time outside of class to do well. I did not like the style of teaching personally. I didn't think he spent enough time on a problem. I felt rushed all sesmter
Mr. Mace is very confusing! If you ask him a question, he'll give you a really confusing answer. In class, he's useless, but outside of class he's very helpful! He doesn't really teach in class. Tests occur every other week on Friday and he grades on attendance. Don't take if you have no time for this class!!! It will definitely be a #1 priority!
If you do your work and pay attention in class you should be fine. If you're having trouble, let him know. He will help you to his best ability. Nice guy. Just do your work.. if not, you will struggle. Also, he NEVER cancels class. Even when he had his baby. So make sure you're prepared to go, every day.
He will definitely teach you the material. If you want to learn, you will be fine. He tries to give examples in all different ways (pictures, stories, step-by-step) and if you're having trouble you really need to ask. You just have to pay attention and do the work. Don't be lazy. He's also pretty interesting/entertaining!
Teaches outside the box, is a fan of letting students 'productively struggle' instead of straight up telling you the answer, but helps eventually.
Tests are hard, but if you study you should be fine. Makes the class enjoyable and grades very fairly.
He is very willing to help, however his help is not always clear. He uses a lot of examples to explain things, but sometimes I feel like he goes about it the hard way. You can tell he is passionate about math, and wants you to understand the language of it. A little odd, but definitely entertaining. YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK AND STUDY HARD.
I think he makes things a little more complicated then they need to be. I'm honestly learning more off google than from in class. He's pretty funny though. He is willing to help but his help isn't always so helpful. Do the non mandatory HW and class will be a lot easier for you. He told us we don't need a book but you NEED the book to pass.
Not very helpful and confusing
Not very clear at all in his teaching. Probably have learned more from the internet than him.
Not very clear at all in his teaching. Havent really learned anything. And when you ask him for help he usually just asks you the question back.
Very confusing. Havent really learned anything. And when you ask him for help he usually just asks you the question back.
Confusing in his teaching methods and not really learning anything in the class.
He over complicates his material and paces far too fast
Rob-Roy is a great guy and great teacher, he may seem unclear in class to some people.. I'll admit I was confused at first but if you go to his office hours, he will help tremendously. Funny guy, loves rap music, tough class but it's college. Everything is tough in college, and If it's not then you aren't being challenged. Take him, you'll pass
Worst class ever! He makes you feel so dumb if you don't understand what he's talking about! If you ask him a question he tells you to read your book. He spends the majority of the class telling jokes instead of trying to express important concepts you are tested on. He will not explain himself thoroughly because he says you should already know
Best math Professor I have ever had. Teaches in a way that I understand it. Book helps tremendously. Allowed corrections on multiple tests. Has questions you turn in at the end of every class for attendance so it is important. Willingly taking him again next semester for MTH 140.
Professor Rob-Roy was a fun and crazy guy. I for the most part, enjoyed his class; however, he moves way too fast. I would recommend taking the course that meets more than 3 days a week if you want to understand the material well. I did not enjoy this class. There is simply too much to cover in the 50 minute time block. Does not post grades.
Rob-Roy is a cool guy. He lightens the class up by keeping you laughing. He's a pretty crazy guy but is a good teacher.
Makes me want to take more math. I can not believe some of the negative comments on this guy. Favorite professor I've had. Lots of chances if you forget homework or quiz. Will help if you ask. Makes class entertaining.
This class will be challenging for you if you're not good at math. He doesn't always explain concepts in the best way, so prepared to read your textbook or watch Youtube tutorials. However, if you ask him for help, he is always willing to help you out. Does give opportunity for extra credit. He wants all of his students to excel. Would recommend.
Professor Mace makes time go by fast by throwing his humor in every once in a while. Also, I loved him so much in my other math class I decided to switch to a math minor and take even more classes with him!
Rob-Roy is a phenomenal teacher. He's passionate about math and shows you why you should be too! You DO need to have a basic understanding of Algebra prior to taking this course and you need to attend class. The people I see complaining about him are those who don't show up. Personally, I wouldn't miss his class for anything. Rock on Master Mace!
Rob-Roy can be confusing when he teaches in the classroom. If you're struggling definitely go to his office hours. He's more than willing to work with you and help. He moves quickly through chapters so make sure to read them and do your practice homework, he checks to make sure.
Rob-Roy is a fairly good teacher, the tests aren't too long and he makes everything pretty clear of what he expects.
Mace is a good teacher, but you have to put in work and time in order to learn the material. You have to show up, do the homework, watch YouTube videos, and STUDY. If you don't work for it, you aren't going to pass. I would definitely recommend him, he makes a very challenging, dry subject entertaining and understandable.
Great teacher. You have to work to understand his lectures but he helps you a lot if needed. Do not skip class! Do online hw! You do that you will pass
Really good guy, easy class. takes attendance by using a half sheet of paper "quiz" which includes 1 question on it; Usually happens near the end of class. Doesn't do this all the time. Brings in a mobile math lab for the people who are lazy and don't do their online homework. So he's lenient about homework sometimes.
Mace is a really good teacher, and will work with you outside of class, He even helped me with homework though e-mail late on a sunday night
Doesnt really make things easy to understand, confusing at times, and theres a lot of homework!
Great professor, if you are taking any math that he teaches get him. I'm not good at math but he is very caring of students passing if you try. He is accessible outside of class and in his office and he will help you out and he is very understanding. Not going to say an easy A but if you try and listen then you will get it because he teaches great!
3 tests and a final. Hes a fair grader even if you get the wrong answer hell give partial credit.
Super entertaining. When covering problems he uses hilarious things that wake the process memorable. Explains the material well during lecture. Understanding comes with solving the problems so stay up on your hw (a few sections/wk)! Genuinely wants to help you succeed and makes himself available. Would take again if my major required more math.
Professor Mace cares about his students and truly does want you to pass. He will help you in whatever way to understand the material. The class is very homework heavy and you do need to attend class to stay up on what is happening. His lectures weren't always incredibly clear, but he is super funny and sweet. Not a bad choice for the class!
Cares about how good you are doing. never cancels class. You have to actually attend class to understand what you are doing. All the homework is on Knewton which is 100$ to access. Other than that he is really understand and super sweet and wants you to pass.
Very funny
Hope youre ready to teach yourself
He genuinely cares for every student and wants you to pass. Sometimes the homework can be a lot though, but as long as you don't wait until last minute to do it all you'll be okay. He is understanding about late work though. He is one of the best professors at Marshall.
Amazing guy! suck at math like me take him he will do everything to get you a passing grade and more if you work with him he will work with you
He does not teach! It was so frustrating not only does he just give us homework (and nothing else) but then in class meetings if you have a question he literally says "so how would you guys answer this?" His only redeeming quality is you can turn in late work but even then it takes forever for him to grade it.
Professor Mace is a good option for the course but get ready to work. On average there were 5 homework assignments per week which you teach yourself how to do through the application Knewton. These assignments are lengthy and will take up your time. However, I struggle with math and I have never learned more in a math class. Good choice!
The course is kind of difficult but he's very caring and lenient and will work with you. He will also break down problems for you if you ask him to. I would recommend him to anyone but do know you will have to do a good bit of work in this class.
He is a great guy he really does care. It is just a heavy work load. He does his baes to help it is just a lot of work. I do really like him and he is a great guy.
This teacher is amazing if you don't think you're good at math. He is very easy to email outside of class and responds quickly. If you don't understand a topic in the homework he is more than willing to help you in his office hours. Great teacher and great person.
Put my test in front of the whole class and accused me of cheating. He is CRAZY. One time we spend the entire class going over how to take notes instead of learning. Would literally leave class because he was mad. Not a single day went by that he did not ramble on about us all cheating.
R^2 was amazing, from the first class I could tell he was going to be one of my favorites. He allows extra points through class participation, and is extremely understanding about life events. He let me basically take a week off for my mental health and saved my grade. I'm pretty good at math, but any confusion I had he would answer asap. Love him
He never taught anything during this class. It is all online through a couple of websites. He gets very sidetracked easily and is not very clear when he teaches. I had to practically teach myself the whole semester. Khan Academy and YouTube will be your best friends in his class. I never went to his class besides the first week since it was online.
He was always everywhere and barely talked about assignments. Definitely wasn't a hard class as long as you do your work, but he's horrible about putting grades in. The final project and final exam at the end of the year can make or break your grade. It was supposed to be in person but he didn't care if you went online or didn't come at all.
Rob was an amazing prof, he is so understanding and will help you with absolutely anything, his class does have a lot of work so be prepared for that, but the due dates change and he doesn't dock for late work, he will do anything so you can succeed, one flaw is he is very hard to get ahold of outside of class times but besides that he is amazing.
Be ready to teach yourself, he does not teach you and when you do ask him for help, he answers with riddles. Nice guy and cancels class a ton. Lots of homework on Knewton but easily pass-able if you just do your work and do the practice quizzes because it is identical to tests.
If you aren't good at math, I don't recommend. You have to be able to teach yourself everything. Exams, Knewton homework (you have to pay for it), and participation assignments in class are the only grades. Nice guy, but has an interesting personality. First day of class, and he attempted to relate the origin of math to crows. Cancels class often.
This guy cancels a lot and has homework you have to pay for which sucks, although his class is easy as long as you pay attention. Others say you have to teach yourself a lot but I disagree. Only when he cancels is that true, but even then he will go over it when we are in class next time.
He is a very funny and understanding professor. He goes over anything that someone may have a question about and makes sure everyone knows what they have to do to pass the assignment (all you have to do is pay attention). His grading does not take long at all and most of his work isn't due until the next day during that class time. Very easy class.
He is a very nice professor that is very lenient. He doesn't really teach the lessons he more so just asks for questions and then will elaborate. He does cancel often which I didn't mind. All tests were take home and some were done on computer. He has a great personality. He definitely wants you to pass his class. I would recommend taking him.
Explained to him my learning disability, and my high school math teacher was on meth and didn't teach so I didn't know stuff I should, and asked for help understanding a concept from a reading, and he LAUGHED AT ME. He never explained, literally went silent, and now I'm afraid I'll never understand math. Thanks professor.
Great professor, makes the work manageable. Uses Unstuck ai and other tools to help students succeed. Cancels class sometimes, but overall very understanding and accommodating.
Baller guy, cancelled class like twice a week. He's super nice, understanding, and all the homework had soft due dates. I did the last months worth of homework in 2 days.
This class was horrible, you probably will get an A but it's not worth the stress. He cancels literally every single class and never answers his email. Be prepared to not learn anything if you take this professor!
He teaches you literally nothing. If ChatGPT can get straight to the point to explain the content then there is an issue. He doesn't explain how to get the answer at all. He comes up with unnecessary situations that have nothing to do with the lesson.
very intelligent and undertstanding. 5/5
Super kind and understanding. You can tell he really cares about his students. Always willing to give one-on-one instruction.
He literaly doesn't care. If you just do the work he will give you and A. While its alot of work, its very very simple.
Tends to ramble, explanations aren't always clear. If you're really struggling, he doesn't quite know how to word things differently. Lots of online assignments, attendance not mandatory. Do the work and you'll pass.
Was a professor who seemed to not truly care about teaching his students. On multiple occasions, he left class after 5 minutes and once left the class stating he would come back after grabbing his drink. He then proceeded to come back to class 40 minutes later with Starbucks. He is a very nice guy and loves to talk but is not willing to teach.
He's the goat
considering he got fired this doesnt matter but umm, stay on ur assignments... thats all
If you are not the best at math DO NOT take him. He does not teach at all nor does he respond to any emails. He takes forever to grade assignments and cancels class for no reason. He is nice and a cool guy, but not a good teacher. Be prepared to teach yourself everything.
Professor Mace is a nice enough guy, but this class was a joke. It's completely homework based, be doesn't lecture at all, and the tests rarely match up with the homework and what the text said. I like him as a guy, but if you value your sanity and free time, take someone else.
One word. TRAUMATIZING. PEACE
The biggest thing I have to say is he will cancel class A LOT. His lecture consisted of going over the homework assignments in class and making you finish them at home. The exams were in class on paper with no notes. He was willing to stay after class for questions. Not a bad guy, but i had to teach myself most of the material.
He cancel class a lot but also the class is really not that bad. I had it really early so I appreciated that lol. He is funny and cool
He gives lessons talks inside the classroom, about knewton and the activities we would have to do. It is very homework heavy on knewton. But be careful to choose your math professor wisely.
