Great teacher. Reading was tedious, but I got thru it. He was always there to help us see the connections in the book or offer his own time to help us get a good start on our essays.

I love this guy, there is alot of reading but it's interesting. Make sure that you read on time and the papers will be easier. He is a good teacher and makes going to class fun.

This guy is awesome! he has so much to give if you'll just listen and open your mind. he expects you put out some effort, and he'll reward it. lots of people got an A in this class, but they were earned nonetheless. I enjoyed the reading, though there was alot of it, it was pertinent to the class. tests were multiple choice, common sense, easy!

Sledge is an energetic, enthusiastic and intelligent professor who will demand your attention, but make it worth giving. He'll ask you to think, write, and learn for yourself because no one else will do it for you. You'll count yourself lucky to know him.

he is a very energetic guy who sits and walks on desks and seems a bit strange in the beginning but he is such a great professor, you pretty much earn your grade by being yourself and expressing yourself which is not a bad thing, pretty easy class and i would recomend him for any other english class!

Rob was an awesome professor! He actually made me want to do well and work hard. He is fun and real, not easy... but definetally one of my favorites so far. You'll be glad you took his class.

What to say about Rob? The first day in class, he walks in, throws his backpack on the table, saying "Boy am I a dork!" Gets loud and irritated when nobody participates, but it's always funny. Challenges you to write well; If you can make him think or laugh while reading your paper; he'll give you an A. Great professor; Slam Dunk.

Rob is a cool cat. The workload is fair and manageable. Rob will give anyone as much help as they want. He is a first class person. You will become interested because Rob is interesting. An is very attainable.

Rob is like a little boy. He wears shorts, a red sweater, tennis shoes and has crazy hair. He seems scary but really he is nice. Make sure to have him check your papers before it is time to turn them in. Try to talk in class. Read the books. You will do fine. He is a nice guy who knows his stuff and explains it perfectly if you just listen.

This teacher likes to talk, and he is constantly repeating himself, but you're guarenteed not to forget what he says. Full of interesting stories, and loves to help you out. He's not afraid to make fun of himself, express his opinion, or involve you in class discussions. The books he used were interesting, and his essay grading was fair. Original!

Sledge is the man hands down. Is more then willing to help you out and wants to help you out. All he ask is for you to try. He's my boy. Cool cat. Highly recommend him!!! Your the man Sledge!!!

I absolutely loved this class. The professor really can make or break a class and Sledge certainly makes it. He does at great job at challenging you to look at different material but doesn't expect you to like it. His class was never dull and I found myself looking forward to it. It wasn't too hard either, just a few papers. Definitely take Sledge!

Ever since day one I absolutely loved this class! Sledge challenges you to think outside the box and get creative. There was never a dull moment in his class! And most of all, he grades fairly and teaches effectively!

Rob is a great Professor! A true professional. I respected him from day one. He makes class intresting and challenges you to think. Highly recommended. Class consists 4 papers and 2 assessment tests spilt up over a 4 day period and a lot of group discussion. I highly recommended taking his engl 2000 class.

Rob was intimidating at first but I found it to be my favorite class. He is intellectually challenging but I have honestly learned more in his class than any other. He's very sarcastic and extremely funny. Great class!

Rob is the****! The man, the legend: I've now had him for two different classes; I absolutely love the guy. He is definately recommended. I loved joking around with this guy. He has a unique personality. He's a big Saints fan, but I don't judge. Saw him the other day and he is almost always smiling. Bottom line: Great prof, great class, great man.

This guy is by far the best english teacher i had! I hate english but this guy makes it fun and never keeps the class bored. I like to sleep in class a lot but i never slept once! He gives u a good grade for tryin, n i got a C lol. Take this class n u wont b sorry

He's is great professor but the problem i had was the amount of work that was given and that at times it seemed like i was in a public speaking class

He is a great teacher, and I feel like i have learned so much from him. We read 4 books and wrote essays about the books, it is easy to respond to the essays if you just take the time to read the short books. He explains everythng so crystal clear on everthing he exspects that it is hard not to follow. it was such an esay and fun class. Take Him!!

In high school I aced both AP English exams, but when my HS took 5 months getting my paperwork to CSUS, I ended up having to take this class anyway, and at first I dreaded the prospect. As time went on, however, I grew very accustomed to Sledge's teaching style, and I learned more in that class than in the last 3 years of high-school AP English.

He is so funny!!! I always looked forward to thos class!

Great! Never have been a fan of English but this professor changed my outlook on essays... for reals lol. He is awesome I loved each and every single book we read in his class!!!

it was an interesting class. he was always prepared before class but is very unorganized. does not have any system of notes or anything but is a very easy grader. have to do a lot of mini-presentations. i thought it was fun, but other people i know said that he was intimidating.

At first he can seem intimidating,but he really isn't.Every time you turn in a paper he makes you present it to the class.This is not as bad as it seems. There was 4 papers he assigned and we read 3 books.There was around 2 test.He grades fairly.He has a rough sense of humor but in reality he is really kind.For sure one of my favorite teachers.

Truly an imaginative, yet structured teacher- "actually read the books? you'll pass the course". He was just enough fun to balance the ferociousness of the amount of reading required. I would retake his class any day and recommend him to anyone else needing English units!

Sledge is awesome. I hate English and actually payed attention in his class because he makes class interesting. There are 5 papers, average of 4 pages. Hard grader but he tells you everything he wants so as long as you do what he wants it's an easy A.

Rob is a great professor! really dislike English but he made class really fun.He usually walks in class talking about random stuff, but then he relates it to the class lesson.He's a hard grader, but if you follow his instructions, you will get a good grade. i highly recommend Rob!

What a cool cat. don't even know where to start. Clear as mud with his instructions so you'll never be lost, unless ur a complete idiot and doesn't pay attention. Lenient on grading, I turned in a paper a week late but still gave me full credit. Pls. do ur self a favor and take this professor. So smart, he myt even change ur perspectives on life.

Great guy! He makes class very interesting and actually makes you want to go to class. At first when you meet him he might seem pretty odd, but you get the hang of him will make you laugh and explains everything clearly. You are required to read the books and do about four to five essays. Do your essays on time and you should pass with an A =]

Best teacher I've ever had. He is motivating and thought-provoking; consider yourself lucky if you get his class, and if you apply yourself, you will take away so much from it. Books are interesting, lectures are entertaining, and he is incredibly clear about his expectations. THIS ISN'T JUST A CLASS, ITS AN EXPERIENCE!:)

Sledge is a great professor. His class consist of 5 papers(3 of them based on novels). Two exams(multiple choice/Essay). No one should get any grade lower than a B.

Chill guy doesn't require much for his class all you read are like 3 books and do essay's on them other then that his very cool teacher and improves your writing skills

His class is really easy, we had to read 3 books and write 5 essays. It may seem like a lot of essays to write, but all his essays are easy and very clear. He is a very easy grader and I have gotten A's on almost all of them. He does have mini presentations after you write every essay, but it's nothing big that you have to prepare for. I recommend.

Great professor! It was early but worth waking up for because the time pass by. There is a lot of work but he does good in balancing them out. I would take him again!

I really loved his class. Lots of essays but the essays gave me another perspective. He wants you to really think outside the box, and see things from a different view. He can be intimidating, but he is hilarious.

He is such a great teacher really makes u think outside the box. Wrote a few essays but he isn't a tough grader. As long as he sees u read the material and you are not writing the essay the night before.

Took Sledge's class fall 2014? Anyways, Five essays and three books. He changes the books every semester from what I have heard. Each essay is only 4 pages and gives examples of what he expects. You give little (2 minute) presentations on your essays . He grades mostly on content. He is awesome! He is very blunt and funnyish! recommend

Great english professor. Five essays three books. Papers are only 4 pages long. He's funny, nice, and great. I hate english but he made me enjoy this class a lot.

Professor Sledge's class was pretty easy going. Definitely inspired me to critically think. He's a very inspirational and funny guy. His lectures are always exciting. There are 5 papers and 2 exams. After turning in your paper, you need to do a very short presentation on your paper. Professor Sledge has to be one of my favorite professors ever.

Great instructor. 5 papers (short 2 min presentation required) 3 books 2 exams (no real final). 1 class discussion. He seems very intimidating at first but he is the best professor ever! Show up, read, and do the essays and you're home free! Would definitely take again!

Honestly I didn't like Sledge very much at first (seemed kind of intimidating) but he wound up being probably the best teacher I ever had. Really smart soulful guy that likes to laugh with you. Definitely different, which is a good thing to me. I'll remember him. Recommend!

This professor is definitely unlike any other professor I've had. He is very eccentric who not only loves his job but also his students. Expect to read and think with what he assigns in this class but it is all very doable. He does what he can in order for his students to succeed. Highly recommend this class with this professor.

Professor Sledge is pretty awesome! Class consists of lots of discussions about the readings and issues in society. I really enjoyed taking this class and I am not an English major. Although attendance is not mandatory, it will be difficult to pass if you do not show up.

Amazing teacher!

Rob gave clear honest expectations. Do the work as requested, participate/attend classes, turn work in on time! He wants students to succeed but you MUST follow the instructions in the syllabus. Even going online only mid-semester (Spring 2020) he stayed accessible, kept us reading, writing essays, using critical thinking and writing responses.

3 books, 5 papers, and some small assignments. The prompts are kind of difficult but should be fine as long as you try your best and reach the number of pages required. He isn't a tough grader. He actually reads the papers and gives amazing feedback. He truly wants you to succeed and learn from the material.

The main assignments are 5 essays and a few smaller assignments that are super easy. You need to buy 3 cheap books to read that correspond to 3 of the 5 essays you will write. Honestly, certain essay prompts can be a bit tough but the professor gives really good feedback. He's very passionate about his class and he makes his directions very clear.

Professor Sledge is the BEST professor at Stan. He truly cares about his students. Participation is mandatory if you want a good grade, but he made class SO enjoyable so going wasn't bad. I hate English, and I thought I would dread the class, but he was so patient and gives so much feedback; The writing was so simple and lowkey fun. I LOVE HIM!

Quite simply, Dr. Sledge is awesome. The man finds beauty in everything and is truly a pleasure to be taught by. He helped me grow as a writer and challenged me to develop as a person through his awesome choice of texts and weekly reflections. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get to take another class with him in the future.

You will have to get 3 books on which you will write a paper about each, all of the work given is easy, he posts videos explaining what he expects from all of them and he will give great feedback on it. Highly recommend.

Easy class. We only met once a week. If you miss more than two classes, you are dropped. Weekly essays. No midterm. The final is just a meeting with him discussing your grade. You read 3 books. Discussion posts every week and you have to create your own. Big part of grade with a small paragraph reflecting on how you did. Group work.

Engaging class with thoughtful discussions. Though essay prompts can be tricky, the prof gives excellent feedback. Attendance is a must, but unstuckstudy made prep a breeze.
