A good class to take if you like writing
irresponsible teacher- isnt very clear, lectures rarely surround detail on reading material. tests are easy, but her grading is questionable. if you agree with her politics you may find comunication with her easier, and most probably will recieve an A/B
Doesn't teach the students anything. If you are a guy take the class she loves to flirt with her students

Some of the other comments are way out of line! She is good if you are willing to address topic with open mind, know how to write & aren't afraid to make & defend your point. I argued with her politics a lot & still got an A in the class. Plus, she's hot.
Shes a pretty good teacher, her classes were never boring and her grading is very fair, she wont fail anyone who does their work
Her test are all multiple choice. If you do the reading the test are a breeze. She's really out to help if you want help. Alot of exta-credit. Definitely suggest this class for an easy A.

a little scatterbrained, but still a good teacher. Her politics are interesting and spirited... I would have liked to have seen a more organized, logical approach to the subject of sociology.
Good class, good teacher. I personally hate sociology so I found the class annoying but if you're into it then I think she is a good teacher. Tested every 3 chapters, never cumulative so that was good. We had 2 months to write a 5 pg. paper and she gives lots of extra credit. I would reccomend her.
I personally liked this teacher. I think she is so great and very helpful. I took her class in the Summer and I loved it! She is just excellent!
extremely hard tests, never got highter than a c and i studied for every one.
I liked her a lot ! Lectures weren't exactly organized - mostly a lot of discussion - but could be very interesting and lively. Tests were fine and pretty much straight from the book - and the STUDY GUIDE!! Sooo helpful and a lot of the test Qs came straight from the practice Qs in it so GET IT!!

tests are sort of hard. but if you are honestly having trouble she is more than happy to help you. professors always have good and bad sides but i think her good side out weighs her bad side. i recommend her.
She is pretty and nice, skips class alot, interesting discussions, but tests are so hard! I studied so much and didnt do well on the tests! Grade based on 4 tests and an easy paper. Get study guide book! I got a B.

If you are looking for a class to teach to yourself, this is the one. Professor covers maybe ten percent of the material in class. It was way too much work for an in intro. class. Also, she missed a lot of class without letting us know ahead of time. I should've taken another teacher!
One of the better teachers I have ever had. She is very into the subject and knows a lot about it. She is very willing to help you after class. If you don't do well in the class, it is because you didn't apply yourself. Everything is either common sense, covered in lecture, or in the book.
Horrible teacher! she acts like you should know everything before she teaches it and students repeatedly corrected her on her information. very disorganized and should be teaching 2nd grade! the class is just a big waste of time, dont take her class!
Tests are unclear, but she gives easy hw, a really easy paper and lots of extra credit. when she's in a good mood, she is funny. i do recommend her

All her tests are based on the reading material. Her homework is not difficult. If anyone fails this is class, it is beacuse he or she did not put any effort.
Class curriculum was fairly easy. she is very lenient teacher. at first she might seem like she doesnt know much about SOC. , but she has a wealth of knowledge on this subject.She has traveled a lot , and is very Liberal! real helpful, gives out lots of extra credit. Plus she is seriously one of the Hottest teachers!! you'll fall in love..

I took this class and I would suggest to everybody to not take this teacher.She is very controlling about what her views are so that gives the class a very uncomfortable environment to be in it if you dare to see and say things different in a way others than her opinions to what Sociology is....also,exams are very contradictory and confusing.!!!:(

This teacher is the one example of how not to encourage,students.Her strong social views are very discouraging to motivate and educate others.Futhermore,She isn't not well prepared and if you dare to ask her something that She may not agree on then your grade automatically will go down.Be prepared to write a 6 pg. paper...also exams are difficult!!

I have her for Winter and it is one of my favorite classes. Funny, smart, helpful.
Ms. Jeffries is the best. Enroll for her looks, stay because she teaches an awesome class.
i dont even know who gave her the bacholor degree is this child for real. She has some major issues she needs to deal with./, because this is one stu........ teacher i had ever taken my entire life take a hint teaching is not for you . i think she needs more education.

Awesome teacher! She gives great examples, will explain time & again until it's clear for you. Four tests - study guides are given. If you answer the Qs on the study guide, you'll be in good shape. One essay, but you don't need to do any research. An easy B, you'll work a little for the A. Great personality, if a little flighty at time. Gives EC.
Easy to understand.Interesting class.Comfortable environment.Funny/Sarcastic. Flexible.Sometimes her strong political opinions are conveyed to the class. I feel that political views should not be pressed upon young, vulnerable students.
She's a very nice prof. Her test are not hard, she provides you with a study guide. Their is one 5 pg essay to write (turn in the RD so you know what to correct). She gives some random HW and pleanty of EC. Don't give your opinion unless it agrees with her's.

she is great...sometimes she looked tired but always helpful. Do not turn in late papers b/c she won't accept it. DO ALL HER HOMEWORK if you want to get an A; not a lot of homework (3) though. Do not ask her stupid questions, she does not patient. She is very helpful and funny... I loved her class.. have fun

Everybody loves Robin Jeffries. She really wants her students to do well. Gives you study guides, little homework, 1 paper. She is so sweet and very attractive. Her class is busting at the seams so enroll early!
an amazing caring teacher. please do the reading and bring the printouts to class and you'll be fine. uninformed students tend to drag out in class discussions with mindless questions so be forewarned..will help you get an A..funny, positive, very intelligent on the subject. show up, read, discuss...get an A..easy as that...

Robin is very knowledgeable especially about gender stereotypes and gender stratification. She is young, modern, appealing and smart and it's great how aware she is of culture and human relations. The class consists of one research paper some HW and reading and tests which are not too dificult if you do the reading and study guide. Yes, she's hot.

Very bias, don't disagree with her. She laughed @ several people when they asked questions and ridiculed them to the class. Joked about students from other classes to our class. Very disorganized, talked a lot about herself, unprofessional, preached her political views, PETA videos included.
Jeffries is a very good teacher. If you just follow her study guides for her tests, you will do very well! She is a stickler when it comes to attendance. Really cares about her job and students. Some group work and presenting in front of the class, but it's minimal! I would recommend her!
You can say she's kind of attractive, but her attitude stops her from being stunning. She's very boring, she has the heart of a high school professor, not a college professor. Exams are not as easy as people say, her studyguide may only cover a bit. My high school socio class was a lot better than this. I wouldn't recommend her.
robbin gives study guides that are practically the test itself and answers any questions you may have.as for being "boring".give me a break maybe if u read the info and came to class prepared and ready to discuss with the rest of the class it would'nt be "boring" take her class, you wont regret it..and yes she is beautiful...inside and out..
If you truly want to learn then I recommend this course. It is very interesting and it really opened my eyes. I learned that there is so much more than what happens within your own society. Great Teacher, and very willing to help her students succeed

Awsome! I took Robbin's class this Spring and was never interested is Soc prior to the class. She made the class VERY interesting and meaningful, with awsome articles and movies we watched and discussed. Just read the book, attend the class, participate in class discussions and you will get an A. Take her!!!! GOOD LUCK Robbin with your PhD!!
Great! She makes the subject supereasy and interesting. Class consist of challenging discussions, reading useful articles and watching few videos. Plus if you read chapters and participate in a class you will get an easy "A". Had to put least efforts but got a lot of fun! She makes her class a leisure not a tenure! I took this class in Spring 08. I was working 40+ hours studying for three certificates on IT and couldn't really follow. She gave me a second chance even though it's her rule not too...but we are humans...the thing is that GE attending in class are not for me...if you are a busy person and don't have time...don't get that class go Online.
One of the best teachers I have ever had at SMC. If you apply yourself and actually show up to class prepared, her class is pretty easy. She gives a study guide that is pretty much the test and offers help constantly. Good teacher, Good class, Great teacher..
Don't listen to the bad comments.Shes great!Took her this past winter,only had 4 tests which were exact replicas of the study guides,and 2 online postings.Pretty self explanatory and not hard at all.Take her now because shes going back to school in the fall full time and she probably wont teach then.It all depends on your classmates on how it goes.
But she is super nice, and will answer any questions you may have. Take her even if it is a night class, it will be worth it, only spring and summer left so act now and take her!

Excellent instructor, extremely passionate about the subject. Uses a variety of interesting articles, videos, real world examples, and group discussions to complement and elucidate the textbook. Provides valuable study guides to aid in the tests and conducts review sessions to clarify questions on the study guide. Wonderful experience!
I really enjoyed Robbin's Sociology 1 class. She is very helpful and will work with you if you have issues. The study guides did help. There is extra credit incase you need it. Very clear with her teaching. She loves the subject. Take her!!!

She uses the classroom as her own personal forum. She pushes her beliefs on the class. She is an enviromentalist/feminist and makes you watch videos and read articles within these topics. She does not follow any kind of plan and goes of on random tangents completely off topic ALOT! I am still in the class so I cant say yet what tests are like.
Yes she is passionate in her views but she doesnt force them upon u. If u want a teacher who ONLY sticks to the book, she's not for u. She uses life experiences to help u understand the material better. use the study guide AND read the book. Yes she is still in school but it?s to get her masters.
I'm surprised at the negative comments, NONE of it is true. Took her Fall of 09. By far one of the best professors I have ever had!! She makes the class interesting n wants her students to participate. If you?re not paying attention, texting or talking, she WILL call you out on it. So pay attention.
Robbin is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She provides thorough study guides so that we are well prepared for all exams, she doesn't force any opinions on anyone and merely posts articles on eCompanion as OPTIONAL if anyone is interested (which I am), and uses great examples to explain theories that I otherwise wouldn't understand. A+!
the study guides were somewhat useful but all her tests had alottt of questions that were not on the study guide. the class is unorganized and you will never know the grade you have. if youre trying to get a 4.0 i recommend you take this class with another sociology teacher.
She is an excellent Prof. The topics she gives you are very interesting and extremely helpful. They'll be your strong weapons for other classes. I'm sure she'll really help you think and move beyond your usual habits of perception & judgement. With study guides and extra credit assignments it's not hard to get an A. Strongly recommended!
