great instructor, really nice about helping us with the tests and made everything simple and easy to understand. he entertained us alot with his stories also. very funny and easy to get along with. everyone liked him.
Really knows his subject. Class benifits from years in the field, always has a personal experience from the field to illustrate the point.
Very good instructor. Has a lot of personal knowlege and experience. His lectures are clear and understandable and so are the exams.
Years in the field, interesting stories, great sense of humor, fun to be around, all around great guy.
Great teacher. Tests are somewhat challenging if you are not prepared. Offeres some extra credit. Minimal assignements.
I just love this professor. I had his class Monday nights for 3 hours. With his experience in the field, his stories and knowledge made the class more entertaining. Highly recommend him.
If this is a required class, take it in person so he can actually be forced to answer your questions in a timely manner. The good thing about his internet class, is you can do all the assignments on your time frame, then just wait for the tests. Wish it wasn't required, there are more interesting classes for CRJ out there.
geat teacher. would take again
good teacher.
great teacher :))
Great class and professor. Aberle promotes student questions and participation. He is very knowledgeable about his field and the stories made even a 3 hour class interesting. Follows his syllabus to a T. Easy grade if you show up and are slightly interested in the subject matter.
very informative and entertaining what a good class
i took him for online class, i gotta say, his exams are HARD!!! doesn't make any sense at all! can't understand half of the questions he was asking! the assignments are good! i learn way more from writing his assignments than is from his power points! and his power points doesn't matches anything in the text book either!
He is a great teacher and knows what he is talking about. When he is doing his power points he usually tells a story that happen to him once durning his police duties that goes along with his power points to help you understand better.Homework and assignments are easy if you print his notes out they are your homework and test answers basically.
He knows his stuff...Loved the class! Nit hard at all!
MR. ABERLE IS GREAT, HE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR AT CSN AND HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING, I LOVE HIM, HE IS TOO GOOD, TAKE HIM AND YOU WONT REGRET IT, HE IS THE BEST.
He has an excellent background. Class is very interesting and stimulating. Excellent teacher.
Awesome teacher! Makes everything easy, clear and interesting. Very knowledgeable. Took him for every class I could. It's hard not to get an 'A' in his classes.
great teacher. you are never confused with hw or what to do... teaches very well!
Along with Chris Hansen the best instructor in the department. Great amount of knowledge and vast personal experience. You will definetly learn a lot in his class. I have already taken three of his classes and I'm taking his online class this summer.
Awesome, would recommend to anybody
I have taken him before and I will flat out say he is the only CRJ teacher I would like to ever take. Most of the students in my class are all returning students because he is such a great teacher. His stories are funny and amazing at that. He cares about his work and will try to lead you to the right way. Never pass on taking a class with him.
This professor is AMAZING!! he has all the experience. He is really funny and makes the class interesting. I like how he gives personal examples to help you understand stuff from the textbook. He is also really nice and cares about the students. He loves what he does and he is greatly appreciated!!
I am taking his online class. I was afraid of taking an online class, but this class was very easy. All the work is clear and straightforward. As long as you keep up with your assignments you won't have a difficult time passing. His midterm consisted of 12 chapters but I passed with a B and minimal studying. There is a lot of work, but it is easy.
Good interesting class. Powerpoints available online and a lot of class discussions. He is picky on being punctual but other than that, you should take a class with him. =]
Reads (not teaches) straight from his powerpoint. There is no class interaction and I am pretty confident he doesn't know anyone's name. Very nice man who has a wealth of knowledge. If you enjoy just pure lecture - take this class.
took class in fall 2006 and his class was great. he lectured and gave examples from the book and the real world. remember he was an Atlanta police officer, so he had great stories to tell which related to the book.
Very patient instructor. Easy to get along with as long as you're punctual. His tests are straight forward and there are no surprises. Attend class and you will do well.
Expectations are high. This instructor knows his stuff--personally and academically. He's tough but understanding and will work with you if necessary. Most of class is strictly lecture, but he does answer on task questions and there is a wee bit of discussion as a result. Tests are multiple choice & 3 relatively short essays from the text.
This class was extremely easy and I learned a lot. Attendance is really not required. Just show up on the important days and you will get and easy A
This is a great teacher. Bob is extremely helpful, and his real life stories make the class more fun. Make sure you are present for the exams reviews, and you won't have any surprises the day of the test. Highly recommend him!
He is an excellent teacher. I would definitely recommend him for anybody about to take Criminal Justice 101. 4 exam/4 essays/1 bonus. Study and you will do just fine.
Professor Aberle was a great instructor, and going to class was a lot of fun.
I had him for CRJ 101 i liked it so i decided to take him for 102. Great class, he definitely knows what he is talking about. Tests are multiple choice with 50 questions each.
I thought this class was super easy. He tells you everything you need to know a week before you take the exam. He's very detailed and has a lot of stories to tell about his experience in criminal justice.
Professor Aberle is a great teacher, he was a cop before he got into teaching Criminal Justice so he is speaking from knowledge and experience. His stories are amusing and informational, and I learned a lot in his class. He is very respectful and kind to his students. If you do the homework and assignments, you should do fine on the tests.
THE BEST TEACHER EVER! I HAVE HAD HIM FOR TWO CLASSES.. EASY CLASS, WE DID SOLVING A CRIME SCENE IN ONE, HE IS EXTREMELY NICE, GIVES YOU WHAT IS GONNA BE ON THE TEST THE WEEK BEFORE. YOU CANT GO WRONG TAKING ABERLE!!!!!!! DO IT
I have taken many classes with Prof. Aberle, and cant stress enough how great of a professor he really is! You can tell immediately that he is passionate about every subject he teaches. He cares about his students&wants you to do well.He is extremely knowledgeable about this field of study. He is professional and tactfully speaks about tough issues.
Professor Aberle is the best instructor in all of CSN. He is extremely knowledgeable about the criminal justice system, and explains his lessons in a proper fashion. I got an A in both of the classes I took and would definitely take him every single semester. I highly recommend this instructor if you are a criminal justice major.
I took aberle for 101,102 & 270 and he is the best professor ive had in CSN, he is very knowlodgeble and he makes the class very fun by using his personal experiences in law enforcement I STRONGLY suggest this professor
He has a ton of experience and he is very fair and informative. Nice guy !
Professor Aberle is amazing. Wasn't sure if I was going to like this class, but he made it really interesting. Professor Aberle has tons of experience, and he will tell you everything you need to do on the first day. He uses the point system so none of the tests are weighted. Also, has simple writing assignments which are your opinions! He's GREAT!
Good with explaining his lessons
Weekly assignments but are pretty easy since they are based on your opinions. You do use your textbook throughout the whole semester since you have to discuss the questions in the back of each chapter. Overall i would recommend this teacher and hope to having him as a prof soon
hes great and very very helpful, you can tell he has alot of xperience and hes very nice! take him u wont regret it!
Professor Aberle sure keeps you on your toes. The class itself flows, all he asks is for you to attend, do the papers he requires you to do on the biweekly basis he expects, listen and participate. He entertains with stories, class goes by pretty smoothly.
Very easy class. He gives you the answers in the slides he has. Take this class for an easy A
hes my favorite
He is a very easy professor. I love his class. In this class he sets up a crime scene and you have to try to solve it. Easy test, easy paper. Most of all it is fun. I have take him for crj 286b,crj270. If you fail his class then you must of tried very hard to fail! must take him!!!
He is a GREAT teacher! So easy to listen to and makes the class so interesting! One of my favorite teachers at csn. Taking his CRJ 270 next semester and im looking forward to it!
This is one of the easiest classes I've taken. Powerpoint slides are available online, and prof. Aberle points out exactly what needs to be known for exams in lectures. He has many relevant stories from personal experience. The 4 writing assignments are graded quite generously, and there are extra credit opportunities. Great prof. and an easy A.
Very Helpful and understanding. Great professor to have. Take his class definitely.
Instructor is good, buying the book was useless because he teaches off his notes so no need to waste the money. You do not have to show up to every class, points will not be taking off but if you miss 5 classes then he will drop you. Just pay attention to his slides and you should have no problem.
I would not recommend taking the online class. There is no feedback and no instructor interaction.
He was an amazing professor! He is a lot of fun. This teacher has a lot of background experience that helps a lot. You do a lot of discussing in the class which is also pretty fun. I would definitely recommend him!
This is the most amazing teacher EVER. He has A LOT of background experience in his feild. He makes class fun by joking around and telling his "stories" about being in the feild. He is interesting and actually gets into discussions with the students. His class is easy and far from being boring. He is my ultimate favorite teacher thus far.
I've had this professor for two semesters. He is a really good professor. The class itself is hard. Don't get fooled, you HAVE to read and UNDERSTAND the textbook because questions will be on the test. He gives great lectures + notes. There is a term paper at the end, and its ten pages long. Overall it was a good, but hard class.
This teacher is pretty good. I had him for CRJ 102 and CRJ 101. I would say that his strongest quality would be having so much experience in the field he teaches. As long as you pay attention and read the assigned chapters, you'll be fine. The class isn't ridiculously hard.
Awesome professor! Has tons of stories that help learning the material easier. You need to read the book but he does give very detailed notes for lecture. His writing assignments aren't that bad just take some time. Strongly recommend! :)
Great instructor in a very difficult but necessary subject
great teacher knows this subject very well
Bob is a good teacher. You just read chapters from the book (which are short and sweet) then do a critical thinking question from on each chapter. There are 4 assignments (1 page) and a couple exams. Overall its an easy class - he provides notes for each chapter and is reall nice.
this is an all around awsome teacher he was always so heplfull he made sure everyone was well perpared for the test one page paper due like every other week and super fair when it came to grading papers and the tests
Great professor, amazing stories from his experiences in law enforcement. No homework, Tells you exactly what you need to know for 4 tests and final. 4 critical thinking assignments & an extra credit paper. Impossible to fail. Not a CRJ major so i wish Bob taught other subjects.
This guy is the best! Love his class very interesting, If you like criminal justice you will enjoy and learn in this class. Take him you wont regret it
Took his online class this summer and it was great. He is quick to respond with questions. Just read the chapters and do a critical thinking after each. 4 small discussion post 4 writing assignments (one page) 2 quizzes (25 questions) and 2 exams (50 questions) and one extra credit assignment. Great Class!
great teacher. If your major is CRJ, do yourself a favor and actually learn the field by taking this teacher. any class he offers, will be a great experience. he isnt very difficult, but it also wont be a tottal easy A. hes tough on attendance/cellphone use. dont be late or absent, it will hurt your grade.
I currently have this professor for both my CRJ 104 and CRJ 186 classes. He is a great professor and knows his stuff inside and out. He explains everything very clearly and if you have ANY questions, he will answer them the best he can. He also has a KOT of experience as a cop, detective, undercover cop, etc. He is excellent!(: -Juliah K.R. Zagar
Best professor at CSN! Very fair, easy going, knowledgable man in Professor Aberle. I do not mean to offend anyone by saying this but if you get anything less than a B IN ANY of his classes, then you need to get your brain checked :) Great class. Easy A.
True Professional and a real guide to what he covers. Very happy I stumbled into his class. I normally do not keep material from classes but from his, there was no way I was throwing it away even though I have no practical use for the information. It's just to detailed to discard.
This teacher is totally on point! He knows his stuff when it comes to Criminal Justice. He's also easy to talk to and he has a GREAT sense of humor!
Online...This was a great class, it was very interesting! If you do all of your work you can get A. I only got a B because I didn't do several assignments. He provides several Extra Activities! I actually learned a lot from this class.
I absolutely loved having Professor Aberle for CRJ 286. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in the field. If you show up and pay attention, there's no way not to get an A! I'll definitely be taking as many of his classes that I can get.
He's a good teacher. The class is extremely boring because all he does is go over the powerpoint notes. He uses his book and you have 4 essays and 4 exams. Easy A if you study.
This is one of those professors that has their online class set up very well. He always gives feedback and even tried to engage the class with online chats. However, not many people responded. I really enjoyed the class and his textbook is NOT the kind that makes you want to fall asleep. Fun class. Would definitely recommend it!!
Very interesting topic, helps learn the basics of child abuse. Material is very informative. Excellent professor for the class, easy to understand.
Professo Aberle is one of the best professors I've had. I would highly recommend taking his class.
Very picky with what he wants. He's okay but I do not recommend taking his class online. LECTURE ONLY!
I have a feeling I would get along great with Prof Aberle if I met him in real life. He seems like a great guy, and his textbook is outstanding. I really liked this class a lot. It was definitely easy, but I did get marked down a bunch for slacking on my critical thinking responses towards the end of the semester. 16 weeks is just tooooo long.
Easy class if you pay attention.
Took this class online. Textbook (2nd Ed!!) is used for weekly assignments and midterm/final. 4 writing assignments that you have more than enough time to complete- just keep up with the syllabus throughout the course! There will be dates where multiple items are due, but no assignment is 'hard'. Helpful and quick to respond. Highly recommend!! :)
Professor Aberle was not too bad. It seemed as if every question or statement that I brought up, he contradicted what I had to say, but I ended up passing. I did learn a bit in this class, and it can be difficult to keep up with at an 8 week course. Overall satisfied, he was not the best professor, but certainly not the worst professor at CSN.
I took CRJ 104 Online after being out of school for quite some time. I work Full-time in the Military and did not have trouble completing assignments on time, if not early. Interesting class with a good amount of design for critical thinking and discussion. I will seek this Professor's courses in the future.
Pretty straight-forward teacher, he explains assignments and notes thoroughly and shares funny stories dealing with his years in law enforcement. I'd recommend him to any criminal justice majors!
The man knows his stuff, has years of experience in the field.
Worked in the subject he teaches, lots of great real life experiences to go along with lectures.
Great course! The book is organized great, & very interesting to read. Critical thinking question for each chapter. 4 small discussions. A few quizzes not too hard. Easy midterm. Final is non cumulative, only on the last half of the class. Assignments lock at 11:55. Very understanding if theres a valid reason for lateness. Everything is on quizlet.
Amazing professor. Much experience, and always shares his stories with the class. I had him for CRJ 104, this class CRJ 286, and am enrolling into one of his for Fall 2015. His lectures are detailed and he posts them online. He makes sure his students know what will be on the test so they DONT fail. He cares about the progress of his students
I took his online class and it was super easy to keep up with. No lectures, weekly paragraph response to 1 question, 4 discussion posts, 4 tests (2 quizzes, mid term and final) and 4 writing assignments. By far my easiest class this semester.
If your major is Criminal Justice I highly suggest taking this professor's classes! He is very nice and straightforward about what's expected. There was a midterm and final exam. One page essay with the midterm and final exam. EASY A!
you read pretty much the entire book but it is very interesting and clear to understand.
Mr. Aberle was an amazing professor!!! He tells you what is expected of you and if you have any issues, he'll work with you. Attendance matters. He's very knowledgeable and interesting. It made me want take more of his classes, but it isn't my major. I really enjoyed his class.
Took the online class, he lays out exactly what is needed. As long as you take the time to do the work, you should get an A. Great teacher. Take him if you can!
Professor Aberle literally wrote the book for CRJ-104. As long as you study, hit the required discussions. You can make it.
Professor Aberle's class was an easy on for me. He is clear on his expectations from his students. There is some reading involved, but nothing extreme. His class was interesting and informative. He gives solid feedback on your submissions. I definitely recommend taking his class.
Great class. Must take for any person who cares about kids. Prof. Aberle takes a difficult subject and makes it interesting. Would take again and I recommend everyone to take it. 2 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final and 1 term paper is everything he grades on. If you go and pay attention there is no way you can fail the class, his lectures are that good
If you are motivated enough to read a chapter a week, then you will enjoy not having to go to a lecture. He wrote the textbook you use and he can at times be a tough grader, but it is to assure that you understand the subject. Material is easy to understand and assignments are not too strenuous.
I had to drop his CRJ 107 online course because he gave me a 0 for not stating the homework assignment question when this was never asked. I didn't have time to fight the guy so I dropped. I will never be taking his online course again for sure, poor communication skill!
Professor Aberle is really strict! Takes points off the littlest minor details. Does not give extra credit opportunities at all. Is not flexible or understanding, and caring when it comes to deadlines and the slightest details that are outlined in his syllabus. Does not give much feedback, maybe two words at the most. Will never take again!!
This online course was fairly easy. We read a chapter from his textbook and submit a 2 paragraph response from the critical questions at the end of each chapter. The quizzes and exams are not difficult at all if you've studied the material. He does deduct points on assignments if you didn't follow his guidelines. He gives extra credit.
Grades quickly. A lot of the links are broken in his online class but the tests are based on the book and his lecture slides. It's an intro class, was pretty interesting.
Easy class, easy A. Remember to do all discussion posts and replies for full credit. Papers are 2 paragraphs due once a week. PowerPoint online accessible for notes and studying if you need them and overall really interesting class with fun topics to discuss with the class. I actually learned something
Good professor. Easy class. Do the assignments. Chapter review questions result in a couple hundred word short essays. Two writing assignments that were big. Discussion posts were interesting and easy. Tests were trickier but doable.
Aberle is a really easy professor, however his lectures are EXTREMELY BORING. I wouldn't recommend him as a morning class (and I usually only take mornings). He's a pretty easy grader, but his tests are difficult. This is not a "study later" type of class, you will need to be prepared.
I would say if you're a CRJ major or even thinking about making it your major, take Aberle. In his lectures, he talks about his experience in the police force and gives you perspective on a lot. Easy book work, take him!
Class is really great if youre looking for an easier A for a criminal justice class. There is an assignment every week due on Sunday, these assignments being very easy. A quiz/test thats here and there and discussion posts. Though, he doesnt really give feedback, hes not that strict, to me, on grading.
It's a good class, clear criteria however be aware when he says he wants your opinion, he'll bunk you if he doesn't agree with your opinion. Abuse of power in my opinion but! apparently opinions dont matter to him LOL. Outside of that, easy class and enjoy the readings.
his exams/midterms are not accurate on what info will be on them so you can be prepared. For example, Quiz #2 covers chapters 7-9 but it has information you don't even cover until chapter 10 on the test? He needs to structure his class better. He also gives NOTHING to reference for where/why you lost points. Otherwise easy class, workload minimal
If you do the work as instructed you get 100%.
If you follow the syllabus you do well, and watch the dates things need to be done by. The quiz/tests were a challenge because there was a lot to review and no real guide as to what might be on the quiz/test.
Great professor. He has a large background in criminal justice, making him knowledgable about the subject. The information on the slides he teaches off of comes straight from the textbook, so just pay attention in class and you'll be fine. There's two 1,000 word papers and an extra credit paper. I didn't buy the textbook and I easily passed.
Hes very easy going and lenient. His assignments are fairly easy and mindless as well. However, I suggest actually reading all of the textbook material for the best grade possible. Although I got an A in the class, I never got an A on a test, mostly low Bs because the tests are timed and I skimmed the textbook. Extra credit available too
Great lectures and great story telling. I like when he shares his experiences in the force and always relates it to the lecture (never just rambles on about unrelated nonsense). Not a hard class to pass. Take notes, study the textbook, and write your essays and youll pass.
He was basically following the textbook. As long as you can remember vocab terms the tests will be fairly easy. A few papers, but they're opinion based. His experienced background and his stories help to remember certain aspects and make the class interesting. Honestly he's a great teacher and I feel like a learned a lot from his class.
I recommend taking this class if you need to balance your schedule. It does require some effort, but it's pretty straight forward. You will need the textbook since there's a weekly assignment from the text. The quizzes are closed book, and discussion are graded. As long as you try, you should get an A.
Hes an average professor with annoying aspects to his class that make me wish I took someone else. For example, he puts these really annoying restrictions on your assignments that feel like micromanagement and make assignments unnecessarily complicated. Particularly for his discussion posts. I wish I took someone else. He doesnt grade on opinion.
currently in class right now, he makes us download a lockdown browser so we cant use any sources to help us on the test, including notes! gets upset if you don't show up to online meetings its also worth 10 points, I paid 60 dollars for the online textbook, two Quizzes and two Exams are timed! he does not accept late work
I took Aberle for 104, 270, & am planning to take him again for 225. His grading criteria is clear, assignments are reasonable & actually help understand concepts. Lockdown browser is required for all tests, closed book (which doesn't make sense for ESSAY tests but whatever). I recommend his online class very heavily.
Loved Professor Aberle. One review question was due a week and they were easy to answer with a quick google search or finding the section in the book. The textbook can be found online in PDF form which makes it easier. The four quizzes use a lockdown browser with no camera, so it's easy to use your book during it to pass. Overall great.
I wouldn't recommend him, his tests are timed and hard 30 to 40 min. doesn't give us a study guide, he makes us download a stupid browser to take the test called lockdown, a lot of discussion messages, we have to sign in 9:00 am on time for 10 points! the only good thing he did is giving us the online book link for $60.00
I used my paper notes on the tests just to barley pass. final grade will be based on two (2) quizzes, two examinations, weekly chapter critical thinking discussion questions (14), four discussions, and two writing assignments, i wont be taking him again grades to harshly, a lot of reading, online attendence counts as a grade!
I've taken Aberle for 101, 270, and am planning 225 for Spring 2021. He has weekly chapter question, a few discussions, and is VERY test heavy. Requires lockdown browser, does not provide any direction/study material for quizzes/tests. He's kind of a d!ck but as long as u actually study & read u should have no problem passing him. NO late work
This was my first time taking this him. It was pretty usual, you will need his book MAKE SURE YOU GET IT! Submit a discussion every week and 2 essays, A few quizzes here and there over all if you participate you could pass.
AWFUL! I wish I knew he was a hard grader, a HARD critic, a lot of reading! timed tests! only cares about chapter questions and online attendance at 9, I have to retake this subject because of him, and if your internet connection is not perfect don't take his class he will not give you extra time on tests
One chapter and One assignment per week. Two writing assignments for the semester and one extra credit writing assignment. 4 Discussion posts. An exam where the answer requires you to write at least a paragraph or more Book is mandatory. If he offers reviews, dont miss them as he practically goes over the exams and tells you what to study. Hes okay
I've taken this pro for a lot of my CRJ classes. His classes are well structured, grading criteria is clear for the most part. I earned an A in almost every single class. Reading and studying for the tests are important. Weekly chapter question, a few tests, midterm, final. You can get an A no problem if you're not lazy
He was a great Professor. Loved his class. Theres a critical thinking question thats due every week, 4 tests, a few writing assignments which one is extra credit and some discussion posts. Youll need a program called lockdown browser to take your tests. Everything was straight forward. I plan on taking another one of his classes in the fall!
Professor Aberle's class was extremely easy! Almost all assignments except 2 writing assignments, 1 extra credit writing assignment, and 4 discussion posts, are all based on the chapters from the textbook! The quizzes & exams are all book-based and for the mid-term and final he did 2 study sessions to review! He gave good feedback every assignment!
Best choice!! Easy grader for the most part provides multiple extra credit assignments and goes over answers to any tests with an 2 option meeting date and times. Reading is light in this class but be aware to not go to outside sources besides the book. Textbook is written by the professor!! You will not pass using outside sources.
Professor Aberle is great, use his assignment tracker, show up to his test reviews and you'll get an A. He gives extra credit, and does not accept late assignments. Lots of reading, must get his book and stay within the version he is using as it is custom content and he knows when you're using the wrong version. Apart from that you'll do great!
Participation in discussions are a must, but very easy. He's looking more so for a well written opinion rather than spouting facts from the charts/statistics. Two written assignments also very easy. Exams use Lockdown Browser but you can still use the textbook which makes them a breeze. Doesn't accept late work, but very easy!
It's Saturday morning and we are in a lecture for a MidTerm exam. Study guides are not helpful. I still don't know what answers were incorrect on quizzes and exams because he doesn't provide you with the results containing questions. He'll provide feedback ONLY, and won't respond unless through email via canvas. I don't recommend this professor.
This teacher was probably the best one I have had yet. He does provide meetings for midterm and finals exams and he goes over everything that will be on the test which is extremely helpful. He is also a good teacher when it comes to feedback and responds whenever you email him.
I do excel in online classes so if you do take him online, please read the textbook and make sure to get the EXACT book. He also has notes that summarize the major points of each chapter. I feel like I got a good understanding of the basics of criminal justice.
Great Professor! He knows the laws, and he is the person who wrote the lecture book. You have to do everything on time, no late work accepted at ALL! If you are looking to work in Criminal Justice, you definitely want to take him and now him!!
There isn't a lot of work to do for his class. Mostly just test. Even with me studying, the test questions were tough. The test are timed and worth a lot of your grade.
AMAZING! I have taken CRJ 104 and CRJ 225. And I plan on taking every other CRJ course w him. His instructions on every assignment are very easy and clear. He is a very easy grader/ gives amazing feedback on every assignment. In my CRJ 104, he did require a LL once a week. All of his tests are based on the textbook, super easy to Ace any test!
One of the best professors ever ! Really focus on your papers with writing your opinion on it. Professor Aberle appreciated honesty and responds quickly to emails. Aberle also hooks you up with meetings to help study for the exams. Thank you so much for an awesome semester.
Caring prof! Uses his own book, which is clear and well-written. One chapter per week that is relatively short. One written assignment per week that takes less than an hour to write. Prof. holds web-meeting reviews for most tests, midterm, and final (super useful!!). Requires one paper per quarter (1000 words); if you time-manage you'll be ok!
This class was great. Weekly chapter assignments, a few discussion posts, and tests are what makes up this class. There aren't any lectures, but he does provide optional lectures when it comes to the tests, which you should attend because he basically tells you what's going to be on the test. I would definitely take this professor again!
Syllabus is very clear and he follows it to a T. Discussion posts are interesting, and the material is very interesting to learn as well. He obviously cares about his students to hold video lectures to study for quizzes and exams. I have not met an online professor that does this. He always reminds students of upcoming due dates. Best professor!
Professor Aberle is amazing! The assignments in class were interesting and the discussions in particular were really thought provoking and talked about real-life scenarios. As long as you pay attention to the grading rubric and make sure that your work is on topic, this class should be a breeze. Feedback left on assignments was also very helpful.
Same assignments every week, read the textbook chapter and write 2 paragraphs using one of the "critical thinking" questions at the end. 4 discussion posts throughout the semester, and quizzes are easy if you read the textbook. He responds to emails, but he sticks hardcore to his grading criteria in the syllabus.
You REALLY need to pay attention to discussion post due dates/requirements, he doesn't have much about the due dates up so it's easy to miss them. Once took points off of something I submitted because the event I talked about in the paragraph "wasn't common knowledge," even tho I just learned about it in another class. No grade change after explain
There isn't a lot of work but the quiz's are very difficult and you don't have a lot of time. Even studying the textbook and lecture notes, it is still a lot of information and challenging. Other than that, he reviews all assignments and leaves helpful comments.
He requires the class to purchase his textbook, weekly critical thinking question assignments based off of it. His class is not difficult but I disliked it because of the rude tone in his comments. Doesn't offer advice on how to fix a mistake and can be demeaning. Upside: He schedules a review day before midterms and finals. He's okay.
Professor Aberle is one of my favorite profs if you're new to crj then try to take his class bc its really easy to get the hang of his class. its important to have the textbook since the hw will be there. His essays also easy, he knows what he's looking for, just do the work properly and the way he asks you to and you'll be good.
Ehh, strict with written responses that use limited sources available for information as he outlines, but will mark as plagiarized. Hosts video review sessions for tests but at strange times and does not upload if you can't attend. One question assignment a week, some discussion posts, and quizzes/tests every 8 or so chapters. Have to use his book
I almost gave him a 5, but in the last two weeks of school, I received a 5/10 and then a 0/10 on my last two assignments. I always get A's on Hw and B or A's on tests. His comments were rude and confusing and he didn't offer any suggestions for improvement. I followed his instructions, but he likely disliked my viewpoints, resulting in a bad grade.
Class discussion instructions are extremely strict, be very careful doing them. Sometimes when he grades my essays, comments rudely, and doesn't point out improvements. His canvas is very organized, every week there will be an essay question, and once every other week there will be a class discussion. Hosts video calls for midterm & finals.
Professor Abrele was genuinely the most difficult professor I've had throughout my entire academic career. He would always list certain directions, but, when it came time to grading he never followed his own criteria. If you ask for elaboration or attempt to explain yourself, it would be an automatic-belligerent response. Unprofessional and biased.

I would go with another professor.. Don't cite anything and don't give your opinion, he will sit and argue with you just to mess up your grade, so keep your mouth shut. Also, I was about 6 words off from the word count on a paper and he gave me a ZERO out of 100. This man has no life outside of his job, so beware to make everything perfect!
He has a course schedule that is easy to follow and most assignments are given a week to complete. Assignments consist of reading chapters, discussions and only two big writing assignments. Pretty chill grader and does offer a lot of extra credit too!
If you are a republican or support any conservative views, prepared to get criticized from Prof. Aberle. He's obviously a liberal man with no respect when he gives feedback. I don't mind professors with democratic or liberal views, but he takes it personally & take points off. So, pretend to be liberal. Also he teaches the class liberal propaganda.
Uses a textbook but can find a pirated version. You answer 1 reading question a week and could be done in under 5 minutes. You get a 10-15-question quiz biweekly and they're super easy. I took an online course and would recommend it.
This class was okay. Make sure to read the textbook and you should be okay. Main advice is do the discussion posts. The due date will be a week after its due so stay on top of it. He also has study sessions before the bigger exams. GO TO THEM. Great teacher just make sure to pay attention to due dates. Got a C because I messed up on the discussions
There was a mistake in the homework system where a part of my answer would not show up, and I got several points taken off. When I brought this up to his attention that I was doing my part, he refused to give me the points despite it not being my fault. Won't work with me at all about it and to be understanding.
He uses his own book that he wrote to teach class. I suggest you don't buy it, especially since there is a decent amount of info wrong in the text book. His book is available in the library, you don't have to pay anything to use it.
Professor Aberle is overall rude and often came off as unprofessional in his feedback towards my assignments. Rather than constructive criticism, his feedback comes off as condescending and capitalizing on students lack of knowledge... as in he puts you down for what you do not know..... as a professor.
He does more of a rating than grade. you can write the most perfectly contructed paper, follow all of the rubric criteria and he'll probably look at it and say "mmm 9" The textbook he wrote was ok i learned alot from it
Professor Aberle can be a tough grader, but the textbook and study sessions are helpful. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for prep. Manage due dates carefully.
HORRIBLE!!!!TAKE THIS CLASS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
This course includes a midterm and final exam. There is a weekly critical thinking essay based on the textbook chapters, as well as a discussion post each week. In addition to those, there are two formal writing assignments during the term.Professor Aberle is highly knowledgeable and his grading is fair and based on clear rubrics.
Should be an easy A
