Nice guy, tests kinda hard
Correct last name is Alexander
No Comments
Bob gives great examples so we understand the material alot better. However, there is alot to learn and alot of terms to memorize, But its great we only have to test out on them once since there is no Final!!

he's a cool guy!
Mr. Alexander is a phenomenal instructor. He makes it very clear what to expect on tests and it's up to the student to actually study the material. His lectures are entertaining and interesting so that you look forward to coming to class.
Very entertaining and comfortable class discussions and lectures. Prof A. keeps class lively and isn't embaressed to discuss any topic. GREAT class for sociology! Clean cut expectations for class, great teacher!!
This prof. is the greatest. He gives really great examples and interacts with the students. His test are okay although you do have to remember a lot of key concepts from the book. I would recommend this prof. to everyone.
he's ok. Don't like his tests much
He's a great teacher and I would tell friends to take his class.
good teacher! he has alot of subject knowledge, and breaks everything down into lamens terms. Definently recommend this class.
Excellent teacher/person. Good moral standpoints or ideas on things, but does not teach with an effective learning style for me.
This is a fun class
I felt very comfortable in this class. Mr.A. does a great job at answering questions and making sure the answers are clear. He raises topics that make you think. I would definately recommend his class to friends.
good guy
There's a lot of info to cover, but he gives an excellent study guide and his tests are based off of that and the key terms in the textbook's study guide. If you don't do well in his class, it means you haven't applied yourself.
Tests are composed of about 12 matching Q's straight from the book and two short answers from a study guide...very easy if you try. Interesting topics, good class.
Great interaction with class. Knowledgable in course material. Everything is laid out at the beginning about what to do to pass. Very easy, just do what you are supposed to and boom= A
He a is very fun teacher and very knowledgable. He gets you interested and involved. He's SOOOOOOOOOO funny!
awesome prof. interesting and easy class, he !%^@ing swears alot!
he COULD be a good teacher...but his way of doing it is well...lazy. the point system is horrible and u are only graded on tests. no other work. i believe there should be some homework assignments to sort of..."even out your grade a little" so to speak. Not the most enjoyable teacher.
Definitly lost interest in subject. Boring class. Tests don't test important subject area of text, but random facts from the text. Take another professor is possible. My first year at NHCC, my least favorite teacher.
Very clear on exams. Seems easy but you need to do your studying
Excellent instructor. Chooses easy to read texts that don't cost a lot. No homework outside the text, i.e. no essays, papers, or other projects. Have had for other classes and will be sure to pick him again.
dude, I don't know where to start. Yeah, sure he's a fun guy to have as a teacher, but his tests are frustrating and worse all you get graded for are the tests, so if you sux at tests then find another teacher other wise your screwed and also weekend classed are the worst idea for his class ever.
Easy guy. No homework, just tests. No bull.
Grade consists of 4 open-book, open-note tests; 50 questions, 100 points each. No homework or papers outside of text. Very easy if you are willing to read thoroughly. Instructor is good-natured, humerous, informative and interesting. Great teacher. I would enjoy taking another one of his classes.
Something (negative) must be going on in his personal life and he's taking it out on his students. 1 year ago he was the best instructor around and now I wouldn't even consider taking him for another class. Tests are on worthless facts (dates, names, etc...) from the text and lectures are boring.
He is a very annoying guy. To me he sounds like Dr.Phil. He simply gives you the information and then leaves you in the dark for your tests.Yuck is all I can say.
Instructor was good natured and joked around a lot. Weekend classes suck though, meeting once every 2 weeks for 3 hours really makes it difficult to study for his tests. Which, is a huge requirement with only 4 tests for the semester, it's important in his class.
Wonderful teacher. Very fair to his students and his tests are not very stressful because you can use the text book and your notes. just pay attention in class during the lecture and read all the chapters- - very fun class. A+++
If you think this class is hard then you didn't read the book, or as he puts it RTFQ! He is truely straight to the point and tells it like it is. There should be more like him teaching. Show up, read the book and you'll do fine. Oh yeah quit whinning!
I've had Bob for Soc. and crim. just., and he is a decent teacher depending on how you learn. His lectures are essentially just regurgitated textbook material, so I hardly went to lecture. I found him quite funny, a little crude, but entertaining. If you read the book, you're fine. Open book tests, so really, know where stuff is in book, and :)
One of my favorite teachers here. No BS, clearly tells you his expectations for his class. Straight to the point, tells you exactly what you need to know. Only four open book, open note tests for the semester. Tests can still be pretty tough if you dont study or show up.
I think he was a great teacher. He didn't sugarcoat anything, he just gave it to you straight forward, didn't leave us in the dark about anything. Really laid back guy. The class is kinda rough but it'll be breeze if you just read thoroughly, and you'll ace the exams. :)
Very good instructor, very helpful, friendly, nice, open book/notes on exams. Need to read all chapters assigned and still study though. Take good notes and you should be fine. I really like him. Anyone should take him for Sociology classes. He is great.
Did not like his class, cuts class early, exams not based on what talked about in lecture. Funny, but jokes got old. Will not take him again.
class is always cut short. Your grade is determined by 4 100pt test and only 1 hour to complete test. Outline he gives us for the test doesn't really help out. Very few test questions are the main points. They are normally hard to find in your book. He tells alot of jokes and is down to earth. But I wouldn't recommend him.
Horrible class. I would not take him as a teacher.
Jackass, thats all i have to say
Excellent speaker. His lectures are very informational and interesting. Your whole grade is 4, 100 point tests. If your lazy and don't read you WILL fail this class. Very down to earth and funny. If you get offended by curse words, you may be offended often. Highly recommended.
good class, lots of reading, no homework, easy to learn, really makes you think. Great Prof!
Your grade is determined by 4 100pt test and only 1 hour to complete test. Very few test questions are the main points. They are normally hard to find in your book. He is a good lecturer; but I wouldn't recommend him.
The post on 12/17/05 says it well: the class isn't easy, but if you study you'll do fine. Dr. Bob is a funny old Texan, and he does swear alot. It was FAR more interesting than I ever expected sociology would be.
Terrible, horrible experience. Save yourself, take someone else.
He wasn't willing to help me when I asked for it.
I took his every other weekend class where we took a 20pt quiz each time we met. His lectures are interesting, but rarely does he actually go over the main concepts in the book. His quizzes are open note, open book, but you are lim. to 20 min. and several of the questions are very mundane and difficult to find. Easy for me but wouldn't rec. him
this guys is awesome! easy quizes too...no finals or anything either...
this teacher is very laid back.. he really knows what he is talking about. the classes are boring but the test are all open notes and book.... they can be trickey but in all good teacher. He is avery laid back guy.. he tells it how it is and if you do not like that than you better not take his class....
Probably one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. This guy is so laid back, easy going, and does not give tests, projects, or even homework. You just have to read a chapter once a week, and take a quiz every class that is open book and open notes.
Excellent prof. extremely knowledgeable. I recommend this class to everyone. Dr. Bob expands on the info in the book and brings an awareness of issues that I would never have known. The quizzes were tough for me because of the 20 min time limit,I had to study very hard to get a decent grade but would defenitley take classes from him in the future.
He is a really good instructor. He knows what he is talking about.
very easy class. theres a timed quiz everyday so u have 2b there lectures rnt bad some get boring but its interestin& hes cool but hes a stickler 4rules he says u can only miss 2quizes &there r no excuses i missed 2cuz i went2 c family &the day i came back i hit my head& even tho i was stil bleeding when i talked 2him he wouldnt let me make it up
Save yourself; take someone else
This was the easiest college class I've ever taken. All you had to do was read one chapter a week and take a weekly 30 point chapter quiz, which was open book and open note. Overall, it was a good class (if you don't mind the swearing in every lecture and the occasional sexual references that is).
He was a practical teacher, realized you wouldn't remember everything so he focused on being able to find the information rather than memorize it. We were allowed to use text during quizzes, quizzes were still difficult though.
good lecture, hard tests. my tests grades did not reflect how much I learned.
Gruff, no nonsense, knows his stuff, demands you do what you are supposed to, treats you like an adult, tough but fair
Class was very interesting with this professor. His lectures were great as far as I was concerned. This was supposed to be a 3 hour long lecture, but he let us out early every time. Doesn't believe in busy work or assignments. Grades are based on 4 tests and attendence points you accumulate if you show up, but showing up is not mandatory.
He is a very good teacher. I have attended most of his classes and he is very clear on everything he talks about. Open book/note tests. It very easy and he is very lenient.
open book open notes t/f exams
very hard test no matter how much you study
bad guy not a good intructor
Police & Community consisted of 5 tests worth 50 points each. Lectures were a bit dry, but the police officers that spoke were interesting. As long as you read the book, you'll do fine on the tests. True or False format, open book, pretty straight forward class.
seems easy with t/f open book test, you will be suprised. I worked by back side off and luckily was 1 of 5 or so (out of 50 students) who got an A. Know the book, go to lecture. You don't have time to look up every answer. He is awsome and straigt forward. You will laugh, but you wont slack off.
If you read the chapters, you'll have no problem. He is really interesting and funny. I would take him again.
He's a very nice guy who makes the course interesting, though class attendance virtually has no importance at all, since his test answers come directly from the book, and it's open book/open note tests. Despite this, you NEED to study like crazy. The tests are intense and you need to know what to look for quickly.
Awsome teacher, but everyone needs to learn how to read a frickin college text book before taking his class, this is a sink or swim skill here.
I LOVED this class. The teacher shows up in shorts and a t-shit! It is refreshing to see a professor so laid back. Incredibly interesting lectures and simple testing to make sure you are paying attention. You MUST STUDY for the tests in this class even though they are t/f and open book. Highly recommended!
He is a great teacher. Very laid back type of guy. Doesnt Bull-**** around issues, he says whats on his mind. Recomended, but his tests are not easy, with out the grade curve most people would fail. But you learn a hell of a lot from him.
He was an awesome teacher, swears like a sailor though! You need to read in order to do well, thank god for the grade curve! Many questions come from side notes and extra boxes in the text. Make sure to read everything! (I do not recommend taking this class half semester, it's way to fast past and a lot of cramming!)
he deliberatly twists his test questions around, and some times rates himself on this website
Great teacher, very fun. No homework but lots of reading, if you dont read you WILL fail. Taking him again for police.
Really fun person, sort of sarcastic. A great teacher!
Read book or you will fail. Interesting lectures, funny guy, no bs person
Great teacher, hard, but keeps his class interresting !
Your entire grade is based on 5 tests that are 100 points each, plus other random points from small quizzes/attending class. Tests (fill in the blank + open book) are hard as hell and require you to read the book with a microscope to find random facts and the questions are worded VERY vague sometimes. Lets you out early ALOT which is good/bad.
This man is a very funny teacher. Every bit of the info he covers in his class is usefull, and you will learn something. The tests are easy if you read the book, and make yourself a set of definition notes to use on the test. Tests can be fill in the blank, multiple choice, etc. He lets you know the first day. No slackers for this class though.
Test's are straight out of the book!
Very subject oriented teacher. RTFB is all I can say! You need to read the book or you will not do well in this class. Read it once as a thorough read, and re read it the day before as a skim through to jog your memory and you will do great. Really pay attention to key points!
his class was easy! didn't learn anything though. tests are open note/open book and are hard if you dont read the chapter very carefully. curses a lot during lectures which bothered me at times.
if you don't like his chunky behind he will simply say "you are SOL. best advice is the same as the other guys rtFb Read the f book.......i hope he drinks a little to much whiskey one day
Lectures were interesting. Pop quizes at the end of class sometimes. Otherwise all points are based on tests which are open book/open note.
This guy is a terrible teacher. His his lectures are very short and correspond with 3 questions on his tests... In our class 1 person has an A and 1 Person has a B.... The rest either have a C or are on the verge of failing...Enough said? Don't take this ****. 5 minutes please!
Great teacher!! His tests are hard, but you learn so much. He knows what he his talking about and makes class fun and enjoyable. He has fun stories and loves to get the class involved. I am taking him again for another class next semester. Even though he is tough-he is good, fair, and fun!
Awesome teacher. Knew what he was talking about and was easy. I usually have a hard time understanding coarse material but this was so easy and fun. Don't know what everyone else was talking about when they said he is a hard teacher. Would definetly recommend. Just be sure to read the book and to study.
This professor is the worst teacher ever. He turns A students into C students just by being lazy and twisting answers around. He has no interest in actually teaching, and should just retire. Avoid his classes even if it means taking classes at another school. He swears directly at students, and ridicules them in front of the entire class.
Spot on: This professor is the worst teacher ever. He turns A students into C students just by being lazy and twisting answers around. He has no interest in actually teaching, and should just retire. Avoid his classes even if it means taking classes at another school. He swears directly at students, and ridicules them in front of the entire class.
Ahhhh! Worst professor EVER! Im an A student and I got a C.. Ive never worked so hard in a class in my life! Ive talked to the dean about him. He prides himself on how many kids fail his classes! Our class had the highest GPA in his class YET and ours was a 1.3!! Not cool.. DONT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH HIM..
Heres the deal.. 'A' students will get their GPA lowered if they take this class w/him. 'F' 'D' students will become 'C' students. You can slack in his class because he will round everyone who is failing to a 'C' but if you work hard and try hard for an 'A' he gives you a 'C'.. Plain and simple, everyone gets a 'C' no matter what.. Hes a jacka$$!!
Not a bad guy but definitely a bad teacher. DO NOT be fooled by the whole open book/notes thing. His tests are ridiculously difficult and test students' knowledge on random pieces of information from the text which are often totally irrelevant to the main concept of the chapter. Take lots of notes from the book and be meticulous in your note taking
Really funny guy, really hard class. He's not one of those teachers who goes out of their way to help kids. Class was canceled a lot because he didn't feel like teaching. Don't be fooled by the open book tests... They are VERY hard. READ READ READ, it's the only way you'll pass. He is hilarious though, so class was fun.
He is a really good teacher but his class requires alot of time and work. don't take more than 1 or 2 other classes when you take his class. If you don't care to study this is not the class for you and in all honesty college is probably not a place for you to be.
i honestly dont know what his intentions are but he is a very arrogant and weird professor. no homeworks. assingments or extra credits.his tests are crazy jokes and fails you on porpusly. i will not advice anyone to take a class with this guy (Bob Alexander)
hardest frigin class ever. you need to be a really good test taker to pass this class because thats pretty much all that counts towards your grade.
His class is hard, but not impossible. People have to study hard and pay close attention. People who don't like this class or teacher should just do what their suppouse to do, STUDY!
Very diffict teacher to deal with and he doen't seem to be helpful..... Three Words.......DON't TAKE HIM!!!1
All of these people whining about Bob were obviously looking for an easy A in his class, which you will not get. He is a fair grader, all you have in his class is 4 tests and no homework, just make sure that you read your book and use the study guide he provides you, as well as taking meticulous lecture notes you will be fine. Great teacher!!!
I think Bob forgot which class he was teaching half the time. Most of his exam questions had nothing to do with what was discussed in class. He always cut class 30 minutes early or would cancel class for weeks on end. Saw him roaming the halls without shoes a couple times. He should probably retire.
Bob is amazing. I took him for Intro to Soc. and looked forward to every class. His lectures (took up the entire class period) were so interesting and loaded with details that would blow your mind. You HAVE to read the book or you will not pass. 4 tests, no final. If you take good lecture notes and SERIOUSLY ANALYZE the text, you'll get a AB.
His class is very hard, and is mostly made up of tests. If you are not a good test taker and are not very well at reading and finding specific points in the book this class is not for you. He does not give much help and basically his class is all lectures.
Really difficult tests, be ready to read indepth.
he doesn't help or give exra credit ,homework assignments or chances . the stuff that he talks about is not the test
This class is great and he is an awesome teacher.
Read the book! Read it! Then read it again! You need to understand the material *in the text*. Most of the points come from the exams which are entirely based on the text. Best lecturer I've had so far, by far. Beware if you take his half-term course as you won't have much free time after studying (1 exam every week and a half).
He is a tough grader. If you don't read the text you WILL fail the exams. You do get open note and book tests but they are confusing so pay attention to details. (RTFB). He's got a great sense of humor. He cares about the grading and will grade on a curve if needed. Don't lecture the whole class time. Reading the chapters is a must.
I had to withdraw. I am an all A student and could not pass his class. He barely teach in class and the things he teaches in class he does not really explain well. If you are not a good reader and test taker I don't recommend him. If you are more of an independent student then he'll be great for you.
His class is soooo easy, you dont need the textbook. The notes that you take is enough to get you through the semester. His exams are extremely easy and he reviews with you. He also gives you points to receive on the exam. Hes great!!! Take him!!!
