Excellent!
he has the most interesting storys you will ever hear. great guy
very interesting and easy going. makes history less boring for me.
great teacher, highly recommend

Funny and Interesting. Not hard at all if you go to class and do a little reading.
this dude is the best teacher by far. explains the stuff really well, all tests are multiple choice plus he gives u extra credit. if u have to take a hist class get this guy!
Hard class. Based only on exams. Lots of boring readings. LEctures are pretty good. Very nice guy. Understanding and helpful.
Great teacher. Very nice and easygoing guy. I don't agree with him politically but I learned more in his class than I've learned in most any other class i've taken. I wish all classes were as straightforward and uncomplicated.
totally awesome guy. great stories. never thought history could be this interesting.
excellent teacher. lectures were interesting and tests were fair. Hist 50 text is the best!
Great teacher, I've took him for hist 50 also. Easy tests and great lectures. Funny stories too. WOuld recommend to anybody
I love this teacher. He was my first teacher ever to use a text that was not sponsered by corperate america. He realy made me want to be a canadian.
great easy going guy, good lectures enjoyed his class verry much
Funny guy but it is extremely difficult to follow his lectures. True, he uses untraditional texts but I would have much rather had a straight textbook than read Howard Zinn. Midterms are okay, quizzes are fair. All in all, I would not recommend him.
He is a great teacher. Test and quizzes are a little hard but if you go to class and read you will be fine.
Awesome stories, laid back, spent most of class laughing. Tests just suck, they were extremely hard for me.
Thught this class great, one of my favorites. teacher is funny and easy going, very approachable. Some said his test we hard but I no problem with them

He is a good teacher for the subject. He uses and unconventional text book which is an easier read than others. tests are broad and easy if you read and go to class. Funny stories! Good for a long lecture!
kick-ass teacher- rambles a little bit but the stories are funny.
Since you all ready have to take this class, you might as well have a fun teacher. He has some funny stories, but he de-romaticises history, and uses an unconventional text. An interesting different spin on a subject you have been taught since elementary school.
I have taken US History twice and he makes it very very easy to learn the material! His stories are funny and if you read the text you will get A's on all the tests. No homework which is a big plus! I've learned so much. Take him as a teacher you won't regret it!
I LOVVVVEEE THIS TEACHER! I used to hate history and this semester he made a somewhat boring topic interesting and fun. I recommend everyone to have him as your History 50 teacher!!! He is also my favorite teacher at Chico so far...
My favorite teacher at Chico so far. Going to this class is anything but a chore. He teaches a subject most people already know a lot about, but gives it a very exciting and funny twist. Great stories, great movies, and just a great all around teacher.
He is one of the crown jewels at Chico. he makes a fairly boring subject fun by inserting some of the most random anecdotes in the history cabinet. The tests are fair, and the lectures are painless. Take history from him if it is possible!
He is an awesome teacher! Not only does he make History interesting but he is a hilarious man. This is a required class so definetly take it from him!!
He's a jerk. He lets his political opinion interfere with his teaching on recent history. He makes it very uncomfortable for anyone of an opposing political opinion and doesn't let them speak. I hated this class because i felt that way the entire semester. if you're Republican, dont take this class.
just get to know him and get on his good side n your in there like some swim wear yeeaaa duu
He is an easy-going/laid-back teacher. He definitely does not keep his opinion quiet. If you are a Republican, watch out! I didn't like his bias teaching, but he was a good teacher.
I really think that he is a fun teacher. Alot of the material on the tests and quizes are from the book, so make sure to read even though alot of times there aren't many "good" notes from class and you could probably skip alot, I went anyway just because he is such an interesting and good teacher!
Teaches a VERY liberal/left unromanticized view of US History. Engaging lecturer-no class notes-everything on exams/quizzes is from the reading. Funny stories and relates well to students. 3-4 exams of 50-75 q's and weekly 10 q quizzes. Makes content interesting and related to current affairs.
you can tell he really enjoys what he does. He' got great incite to a lot of what he lectures about and makes his lectures intresting. His tests are hard, and the study guides don't seem to help out at all. The end of the semester seems to be rushed and all smashed together so he doesn't really clarify. But really funny!!
Really hates many things about America and is bitter and biased as a teacher. Not too smart either and uses the same worn out lines in different ways. Easy tests but comes across as a rich, spoiled little boy whose guilty over all the money he has. Phonie to the core.
Amazingly nice and genuine professor. He is up front with his political views, although that should not keep one from learning a lot from his class. He had amazingly interesting lectures.
VERY Liberal view of US History, but GREAT lecturer. If you have a hard time accepting that other people have a different opinion than you then this is not the class for you. Exams/quizzes are kind of hard, no papers and a little extra credit. I put in a half effort and got a B+. Can be a little confusing about what is on the exams. Ok overall.
He's so easygoing and accessible I can't figure out the students who complain about his "leftist bias." He made his position on things clear but also seemed very accepting and encouraging of other people's viewpoints. Some profs try and intimidate you but he doesn't. He also makes fun of himself and doesn't take himself too seriously.
even if you don't have a strong background in american history, he makes the class pretty easy to follow; the lectures are interesting and there's not a lot of reading from the textbook.
He was a very interesting teacher, he did a great job balancing the class between lecture and multimedia stuff.

This is probably as easy as US history gets...Archer is probably the funniest history teacher I have ever encountered. I have him for a 3 hour US history class, and I can't imagine this situation with another teacher. He is great!

GREAT
hes a good teacher but he never gives out homework so all you can do is read..the book is long and boring..he gives out quizzes once a week on the reading..they arnt very easy.the tests arnt easy..all i can say is READ the book and go to class everyday to take notes and listen to his boring long lectures
this is the first time i didn't hate going to a history class. Most of the stuff that's on the quizzes and the exam is talked about in lecture- but he makes it fun. the textbook isn't horrible- and you do really need it.
Great professor, interesting lectures, and his class was quite easy--just quizzes and tests, no papers except a take home final. :)
Snap class, easy-A, nothing to it....BUT the guy is smug and arrogent, seems to have lots of money, but can only say nasty, angry things about America. A typical leftie prof, spoiled, boring, cocky and a turnoff. Hopeless lectures, rambling, deadly, dull, and disorganized.
He's funny.. He looks like Al Pacino, yeah believe me. Exams are too long and boring, they are like 100 "MC" questions.
he was interesting and had great stories but didnt prepare you for the tests. lots of reading and quizes every week and thats it. its a little hard to get a good grade bc all there is are quizzes and tests. if you like to read take him. nice guy
BORING class.. but I guess you could say I am not much of a history Fan. He shows alot of movies though which made it nice. I had heard alot of rumors that he was 'super' easy, dont be fooled. Hes nice and super friendly though.
this man has done and seen it all..basically its nice to listen to him talk because hes funny, lighthearted and interesting..but the classes can be a little boring..not too difficult if u keep up on the reading. dont have to go to class all the time but it does help..cant pass the class w/o reading
He's cute, funny and easygoing. Always telling outrageous off the wall stories, but they somehow usually relate to the subject. He brings history alive, like you're there. Also, I saw him with his shirt off at the soccer arena - AMAZING body! Like Brad Pitt. Definitely got me more interested in history!
Very interesting class
He is an awsome teacher. His stories are pretty interesting, and tries to keep everything as relevant as possible. Just do the reading every week and you'll do well on all the quizzes
If you need an easy class with a professor that will make you wanna show up get archer. covers material in lecture very well and his stories are hilarious. also he starts every semester with a extra credit quiz, just remember that he meet the pope in Rome and thats a free point right there.
Funny Guy/Very Charismatic- he has a bit of a political agenda, but if you ignore it, you'll really enjoy his knowledge of history.
Great professor. Funny lectures and fairly easy tests. He grades on a curve so that helps a lot. I got a B+ despite being sick a lot and missing more classes than I like to. Very funny guy and great stories/movies. Definately an interesting professor.
Awesome teacher. He teaches history by going through what was going on in pop culture at the time so he makes it real fun. Second time I took the class, glad I took it with him this time!
He is a pretty cool teacher, I missed a ton of classes and a few assignments and still got an A. He tries his hardest to keep class interesting showing lots of videos. Really nice guy, and willing to help if you get behind or anything.
This is the greatest teacher at Chico State! I basically created this account just to let everyone know that you MUST get BOB ARCHER. You never have to go to class unless there is a quiz, but he keeps class so interesting and funny you actually look forward to his class. His "lectures" are hilarious No papers No HW NO BS!!! just take his class k?
Robert Archer is a great history teacher. I normally don't understand history very well because sometimes I just don't see a point. In Archer's class, it was actually really interesting. By the end of the semester I was curious each and every day, and he explained everything super clearly. He has a very good sense of humor too.
My favorite teacher of all time. I plan on teaching the same subject so I would like to model myself after his teaching style. Take his classes (HIST 130 and HIST 103) you won't regret it.
Love love LOVED him!!! boring subject but he was full of cool and interesting stories. Quizzes every week but thats about it, and they are very easy. The only reason I went was to hear him speak, not for the class! and it doesnt hurt that hes HOT!
very hot very hot very hot!! i took modren world history from archer and came to class mostly just to look. take his classes!! you'll learn something, too. he makes it fun, makes fun of himself too. he tells gret stories about his adventures, and you wish you'd been there with him. did i say he's hot?
awesome teacher. brilliant in history and really fun lectures. not to much work jsut reading but really enjoyable.
I loved loved loved his class. He tells the best stories from when he's traveled around Europe. He's funny as hell and so interesting to listen to. He's sexy!
This man is fabulous! His knowledge is breathtaking and his delivery perfect. I have come to love Gore Vidal since attending Prof Archer's lectures. His discipline is fantastic, I have paid hundreds of dollars across the Atlantic for such firm guidance. TAKE THIS MAN'S COURSE!
Awesome teacher. His class is fun and the way he teaches is great. He tells first hand stories and teaches history in an actually interesting way. We watch quite a bit of movies and he covers a lot of history about athletes along with other history. Usually gives a quiz once a week 10 questions pretty easy if you do the reading. Awesome class.
good teacher pretty easy
I truly enjoyed professor Archer's personality, the way he delivered his lectures and the class. This was one of my favorite classes and I would do it all over again.
Such an amazing lecturer, really funny, cusses often, stories always made the class go by further. Read the text, fill out the study guide, and you'll do well.
Just finished intercession with Archer -- great class! Thought I'd be bored to death but he is so funny and entertaining and energetic that I actually enjoyed going to class. He made it fun for 3+ hours a day, believe it or not. But LOTS of reading and tough quizzes/tests. He was real helpful, and VERY sexy, though, so it was worth it!
I'd major in history if Mr. Archer taught more classes. He's a great lecturer that can and does talk about anything. The class isn't too hard, but reading is required. No essay. I came away with an understanding of history that I never had before...hats off.
Dr. Archer is the best history teacher I've ever had hands down! This guy has been around the block, he has all kinds of ridiculous stories about his own experiences that relate to history, VERY INTERESTING! You do need to do the reading every night which can get a bit boring but other than that this class is a breeze, pay attention and youll do fi
Archer is great. Awesome stories and keeps interest fairly well in lectures. Very lively and energetic, great for those students who don't take an interest in history. In his class you get the grade you deserve. If you read, take notes and ask him questions you will do well. Hands down the best teacher at Chico in the 3 years I've been there.
One of my favorite teachers at Chico State. He's funny and loves sports and incorporates them with the discussions. LOVED him!!!
Great class. One of the best professors I've had at Chico State. 3+ hours a day but Archer kept it moving with good stories, movies, goofy sense of humor. Never cared much for history before but he made it interesting. He's opinionated but real helpful, will stay after class and talk to you. I highly recommend this professor.
This professor is AWESOME! History can be a very boring subject, but he knows how to teach it. Goofy sense of humor, tell a lot of personal stories that keeps you interested.
I read all the assigned readings in the class and still did bad. Did not like the structure of his tests/quizzes. His tests were cumulative and you started since the beginning of time to president Bush. LOTS of readings, at least 60 pages a week. He has interesting stories but his stories can get off track. Personally, i don't recommend him.
Great professor! Hated history but never wanted to miss his class. Funny stories and great films! He teaches the stuff we haven't heard a million times. Exams and quizzes are a little rough and ALOT of reading. I still recommend him to all my friends
I loved the stories/films that he shared with us. I didn't do so well in the class though because history isn't an interesting subject for me so I would just end up not paying any attention. Make sure you really do try to keep up on the readings! It's A LOT of reading but I think it would've given me the grade that I wanted coming out of the class.
favorite prof of the semester! he always has interesting stories to tell that directly relate to what you're learning that day! he can go on tangents but his class is super interesting! quizzes are based on movies, lectures and readings. you have to pay attention in class, but you dont have to take notes, just listen to his lecutres!
Very funny. Very clear. It is possible to do very well in this class. He answers all questions very clearly, it is very clear what he expects. SHOW UP TO CLASS ON THE FRIDAYS BEFORE BREAKS, there's always an extra credit quiz.
Professor Archer got me to love history! I went from having almost no interest in it, and now I'm minoring in history. He always had great stories, and he has traveled all over the world! He also shows great videos that help with understanding the subject matter. There is A LOT of reading in this class. A quiz each week. Read and you'll get an A/B.
Not bad for History Professor. I always disliked the subject, but his lectures were interesting. I find, though, that his stories were sometimes irrelevant to the topics. He has great stories to tell, just wish he would focus more on getting important quiz or exam information across.
Archer was too much fun! He tells the funniest stories and actually makes history really interesting. I didn't care for the subject at all before but I couldn't wait to come to class even though it was three hours at night. He has amazing energy and seems to really love teaching. Very approachable and helpful too. Highly recommended!
Makes the class very interesting. Has the best stories, super chill and laid back, and really funny. Defiantly recommend his class!
he's kinda hot... and a really good teacher! super funny. def take him!!! he will help you out a lot on the study guide. just keep up with readings
He's really funny and made each class enjoyable. It's also a really easy class. Just do the readings for the weekly quizzes that's based on the book. For the study guides, he gives you exact questions that will be on the final. Study the study guide and you'll do fine. Probably my favorite teacher last semester.
Very funny guy, has a story for everything, he's basically forrest jump (he's done everything you could think of). Very hooked on sports, so plan to learn a lot about sports history. Lectures can feel long, but not all are boring. Tests are difficult half is from lecture half is from reading. Reading is essential to learning everything.
pointless lectures can skip skip class whenever. tests are easy without reading material.
Funny guy. Really cares about what he's teaching. He goes off on tangents sometimes, but usually they're actually interesting. Great storyteller. Took this class for an upper division GE, and it wasn't the easiest, but I enjoyed coming to class.
Grade was only made up of quizzes and tests which we quite specific. Even if you read the readings (which are long sometimes) it was hard to get a good grade (mostly with quizzes). He is a smart guy and a good lecturer but I wasn't expecting a GE class of this level to be this hard.
Archer is a tough grader but it's worth it because he's hilarious. Always comes to class in an upbeat mood and tries to make it fun and not just work. Really seems to love teaching and that makes the class easier. I took environmental history from him and actually really loved it. Highly recommended - great teacher!
Bob was a great professor, he tells a lot of stories but they are very interesting. Make sure to sit in front because he will talk to you and it's hard to be noticed when its a class of 200 people. My advice is to talk to him every class period and he will give you as much help as possible, he is a great guy and professor!
He will talk your ear off. Tests and quizzes are difficult. Lots of extra credit and readings.
He loves any kind of Frito's corn chips. (a good student knows when to brown nose the professor. No points for being in class, but I never wanted to miss class because his lectures are great and he usually has some real life story about the topic. Read assigned chapter before class. Good films, great professor. weekly quizzes.
Everyone should take Archer. He is a riot! I took environmental history from him and there was an annoying girl who could've ruined the class, she complained about everything but he would just laugh at her and turn it into a joke. Nothing rattles the dude, he is totally chill. Really seems to love teaching, has great energy. Take him!
Most helpful, very kind, makes all information relevant, assigns papers simply to give points and make sure you have a more relative understanding of the material. Chooses readings that make information more relatable. Best story teller ever.
He always comes to class in a good mood, has lots of energy and funny stories which helps in a history class a lot. He is totally helpful too, you can go to his office and he'll give you all the time you need and answer your questions about his really tricky quizzes. def helps that for an older guy he's super fit and hot too! Totally recommend.
Professor Archer loves sports but be careful if you're a Dodger fan! He'll make fun of you! :) But he is easygoing and very passionate about history and makes class fun. I took his Modern History class after I took American history from him and you learn a lot from this guy. Great teacher and very nice. Lots of quizzes and tests though!
He talks a lot and gets off topic most of the time but is a really good instructor. He shares stories with the class a lot about past experiences and knows a lot about history.
YOU MUST TAKE ARCHER!!! Dude's way out there, gives really funny lectures, talks about things you don't normally get in history classes like sports and music. Quizzes every week are pretty hard but if you read you can handle them. His crazy stories and energy make class fun. My favorite teacher at Chico State!
Hist341 is an easy pathway class. His lectures are more like storytelling and makes the class laugh with his jokes. He gives a pop quiz every week, 3 exams and one paper. Got Bs on exams and missed majority of quizzes and passed class. You don't need all his books. Just the concrete and atomic books and rely on his powerpoints for the rest.
Archer is an amazing professor! His teaching is entertaining and his stories about his personal experiences are very interesting. Quizzes every Thursday and the assigned readings are interesting as well as easy. Highly recommend this class. His good looks are a definite bonus.
There are quizzes every thursday, the exam and quizzes have multiple choice, and a lot of true or false questions. We only had one extra credit oppurtunity and he dropped 2 of our lowest quiz scores. T/F questions are very tricky.
Bob is a great teacher, the only thing I didn't like about his class was that he has the tendency to go off on a tangent for around half of the class time and he doesn't post grades. Other than that, he's a great teacher. He makes class interesting and you're only graded on weekly quizzes and three exams.
I had to take Archer's environmental history class last semester and I was not looking forward to it. I don't like history much, but it was such a great surprise. He is super funny and always made the class fun, which kind of made up for the super hard quizzes he gave every week. And he's so attractive! If you need history, take him.
Honestly an easy A. He gives out study guides well in advance for quizzes and tests. There's a short quiz every Thursday and 3 main tests. The final is not cumulative. He advises you to buy an expensive history text book but honestly you can look up everything online. You can skip class but he does put his random rabbit trail stories on the test.
Archer is a pretty funny guy. He is very liberal, and often goes on political rants, which are very funny most of the time, if you agree with them. If not, well then his class might anger you. Lectures can be kinda dry at times. His quizzes are pretty hard, but if you study you'll pass the class for sure.
His lectures are awesome! Took him for spring and he is so funny. This is one of the few classes I looked forward to going. Weekly quizzes and they're pretty easy if you pay attention in class plus he provides a study guide beforehand.
Bob Archer has lived a fun life with many awesome adventures. His lectures go a little fast and can be a little all over the place but if you get the main points you'll be fine. He tells great stories and goes off on a tangent a lot. You can tell he enjoys history and in his teachings you experience a new found sense of joy for history as well.
Archer provides informative, funny lectures that incorporate personal anecdotes for additional context. He can sometimes trail off (almost an entire class period), so you don't always learn the information in lecture. Weekly quizzes and a few exams (study guides provided) - overall, pretty cool class.
Archer is actually a real gem. You don't always take Bob's class for the content he teaches, in fact a lot of it is repeat, but you take the class for Archer himself. His stories are priceless, and really informative. If you get annoyed with professors going on tangents don't take him, but he does occasionally put his tangents on the test.
Robert is a nice guy. Environmental History was pretty cool, but we had a quiz nearly every week. And the questions were worded rather trickily, but otherwise his class was fine. Take him if you like sarcastic professors who like putting tricky questions on quizzes and tests, and if you actually read. You'll pass.
Robert is one of the best teachers Ive ever had, I would take his class again in a heartbeat. Every class is a lecture, and the slides really available on black board. There is a quiz every week but if you pay attention youre fine. Attendance is not mandatory.
This professor has retired. He gave amazing lectures and told really good lectures. His quizzes were tricky but passed through them by reading the assigned pages of the textbook. He is really chill and is pretty funny. If he still taught, I'd recommend getting him.
