All you really have to do is show up and give your speech. How hard is that? No tests, no quizzes, no papers, no crap. Just show up.

I believe he is an ex-Catholic school teacher. Very intimidating, several girls in my class seem afraid of him. Grades harder than usual, very political, too. If you want a good grade make sure you stay on his good side.

Good teacher, use enthusiasm and win, know your topic WELL. Bea able to take criticism if you display ignorance. Honors 3000 word paper sucked, and was extra work! Push him to take the manuscripts towards the 3K word min. (you should type them anyway)

One of the best teachers I have ever had and one that I can honestly say changed my life. I am much more outspoken and social than I ever was before I took his speech class. His Humanities class was fantastic as well. He really inspires you to learn and I recommend him regardless of subject.

mr. arcuri is not an easy teacher, and he can be intimidating, but he teaches you what you need to know. i didn't want to take this class, and its still not my favorite, but i can tell i've gotten better at speaking.

A demanding teachers, but fair, does not expect you to deliver the same grade of speech as a type "A", outgoing, natural speaker, but grades you on your own improvement from speech to speech. Humorous and makes class enjoyable, not too much work, and clear about assignments.

He is a really great teacher. He will make you work though for your grade. Go to every class meeting and talk alot about current events. Will make you re-do your speech if you have done it badly.work hard and you'll get an A.

I was scared to death about taking this class, but Mr. Arcuri made it a lot less intimidating than it could have been. You even get a chance for a redo if you mess up your speech the first time. I would absolutely recommend him for speech.

Couldn't help but respond to the comment that he is intolerant of different opinions. Arcuri will engage you in debate, but most definately respects all opinions. It's a speech class, people should be able to defend their opinions.This teacher keeps the bar high and encourages good performance.

This teacher is a good teacher, however his speach class is harder than the average speach class. I only recomend this class for students who will need it in the future. Overall, he's an excelent professor!!!

Agreed.conservative,drama queen with an ego, however, he makes class interesting and does grade you on your improvement. He is clear on what he wants in a speech. It wasn't hard to get an A but, he doesn't give 'em away.

Yep, he's conservative...but I'm a liberal and he treated me with respect as he does all his students. He knows his stuff and truly wants his students to succeed. He will go out of his way to help everyone do well in his class.

Demanding, but I learned a whole lot about myself and others. I never thought you could get that out of a speech class. Mr. Arcuri really helped me overcome my fear of getting up in front of people. I would highly recommend him for this class. He is very sensitive to the fears of students about his subject. Plus, he's pretty funny.

I had so much fun. He is a humourous and friendly guy. This class is a breeze if you do all the requirements he asks for in the speech, actually write the speech and practice it before you do it. He likes the speeches shorter that longer and read faster than shorter. Overall, it was a great experience and I learned alot.

I didn't want to take this class, but I had to take this class. Now I'm really glad I did take this class. Mr. Arcuri is an excellent teacher.

I knew him from when he taught high school at Fr. Lopez so I was looking forward to taking this class. Speech itself just sucks so u want a teacher who is going to make you feel comfortable and he does this. I also liked the cirriculum of impromptu 1-2min speeches. You hate it at first but by the time the big 7-9min one comes you are prepped fully.

I've had him for both speech and oral interpretation - awesome guy, insane but fun personality, opinionated, knowledgeable, funny, and a friend to students. He's moderately easy, explains things clearly, and keeps it always interesting. Great assignments! Take his classes!

Mr. Arcuri is an awesome teacher. He tells you what he expects of you and grades you accordingly. There are no surprises. Make an attempt, and you will get a C. Actually put some thought into it, get a B. Practice before giving your speeches, easy A. Plus he's a great help to you outside of class. I highly recommend taking his classes.

Gotta work hard for that A, but its not impossible. If you practice before class, and dont freeze up, an A is not outta reach. Id recommend to all; all I heard was bad things, and had a few friends drop his class before even going to one class based on word of mouth. People get mad when their views are questioned and they cant defend them...

Mr. Arcuri always kept the class interesting and fun. He was always open to peoples opinions. He gave constructive criticism that would really help with speaking in front of everyone. I was nervous about taking the class, but he really made it an awesome experience. He knows his stuff! Take the class!

This is probably my favorite teacher. He doesn't give off the best first impression, but once you get to know him he's awsome. He's so interesting and down-to-earth. He'll get mad or sometimes offend people but it's funny. He's the type of teacher that acts more like your friend.

He is an awesome teacher. I was dual enrolled in class becasue I am still in high school. I wish that I had teachers like him here! He really makes you think and grades fairly. He is interested in what you have to add to the class. I bombed the final speech, so a word of advice... don't do your speeches at the last minute. Got a B in the class.

very knowlegable teacher, one of my favorite teacher so far. You MUST attend every class, but they are interesting and he makes it worth your while by providing information you can use in everyday life. Before this class I was really afraid of public speaking, but this class really helped! Def. recommend thi.s teacher

This is one of those classes where the students' personalities make it or break it. If you want to just get it over with you'd want to take it in the summer but I think it would have been better for me if I had more time to get comfortable with my classmates. As for the professor, he takes some getting used to but he's cool.

mr. arcuri definitely takes some getting used to, but he does his best to help you feel more comfortable about public speaking. he gives pointers on how to not be so nervous and how to write a good speech. do what he asks, exactly how he asks, and you'll have no problems. a little tempermental, especially during long speeches, but a good teacher.

Professor Arcuri is the best! I was very nervous taking his speech class. He made everything easy and was straight to the point. He is very honest and is not afraid to tell you when you are straying. After taking his class, I am better able to speak in front of a group of people. Loved his class!

This teacher is very upfront with what he wants. He tells you how it is and if you can not take constructive critasism then you may not be able to handle him. All in all he is a good teacher and he is fun to listen too.

Good teacher, but needs to distance himself from female students. He can be VERY inappropriate and is known for crossing over the line of student/teacher boundaries. Would not recommend for young women.

Take this teacher! You work your butt off but you will learn and be a much better public speaker than you will be learning from another teacher. Pay attention to his critique and fix it the next time and you'll do fine.

Great speech teacher. If you are afraid of speaking this is a great class to take. He makes it a lot more comfortable to speak in front of your audience. It's not the easiest class, but definitely one of the most useful. If you attend, you won't have a hard time in getting a good grade although.

He's pretty opinionated, but this was otherwise a fairly easy and fun class as long as you didn't miss giving your speeches. The "soapbox" rants were often pretty fun, too.

Teaching style was not my cup 'o tea. Always tells you exactly what he expects in assignments. I didn't like the class due to the high school teaching atmosphere. Tries to maintain this "Alpha male" macho status that just makes me want to laugh. He does, however, look a little like Anderson Cooper.

If you want an easy class then this is not the class for you. If you want to learn something though, take this class, and be sure to do a lot of soap boxes. He is specific about what he wants and he will tell you clearly, just be sure to follow what he says.

I absolutely adored this class. I took a speech class prior to his and dropped it, but I'm so glad I did because his class demands the best out of you. It's not an easy class, and he comes off as a jerk but he's a fantastic teacher that really stimulates his class. If you're looking to truly learn and have a fun time doing it take this class.

His lectures are consise, and you will learn more about public speaking just from atending them. I don't think he is a fair grader though. There are some students he clearly favors over others and makes biased judgements about their scores, and he does not grade based on the amount of work put in to a speach. I didn't care for his personality.

Online class is reasonable college level. If you keep up and not wait till last minute you will have no problem. This class is not an easy A, but this is college people and it is a Gordon Rule class. You will learn Theater's history, it isn't about just going to plays.

Arcuri is an awesome teacher! you don't need the book. i thought was going to hate this class it ended up being one of my favorite. He can come across as being a jerk, but its just his personality and he means nothing by it. just do what he asks and you will be fine.

Acuri is a great professor! The other more negative comments had to be made by immature students who are not accustomed to College-Level teaching styles. (sorry kids) He has a total passion for seeing his students succeed and will ask you to drop class if you refuse to try! And, that is college!

He's a GREAT teacher. He gets his message across well and does so in an interesting manner. He discourages any insults or critiques of speeches, which is great if you're nervous about giving a speech. His stories are interesting (binge drinking and drugs - WHAT?! Seriously, no.) And his class is fun. I look forward to it every day.

Professor Arcuri is the absolute best! I was terrified of giving speeches prior to this class but he makes you feel comfortable and was always there to help. He has no patience for arrogance and ignorance so be prepared to act like an adult in his class or you will not do well. Awesome awesome teacher!

I was dreading taking speech. Just thought it was quite pointless for a degree, but I've slowly watched people come out of their shell and become more confident with speaking, which is important in the business world so, it's worth while. It's busy work, but it's only a matter of writing college level papers. Takes The Gordon Rule very seriously.

He is very real with the class, and enforces respect and encouragement for people when they are giving their speeches. He also tries to keep the class as light as possible, knowing everyone is probably freaking out (especially on speech days). He?s clear, he?s fair, and he wants you to succeed.

Mr. Arcuri gives fantastic lectures. Every time I go to class, I feel inspired and motivated. He's also an easy grader. Sometimes he forgets to post things online, but that is my only complaint. He does not require a book, which is such a help, considering the bookstore is a rip-off. Take his class; he is cool.

I was horrified of taking a speech class but I'm glad I chose him. We literaly had 7 speeches,& one was a paper and we didn't have to present.They're fairly easy speeches and he makes sure no one is negative on any of them.Class is ONLY mandatory on speech days or else you get marked off a letter grade each day missed. I'd definitely recommend him!

Fabulous instructor. Got the students comfortable with each other and him immediately. Great personality. I dreaded this class initially but it has turned out to be the most enjoyable.

This is a great professor. This was unexpectedly one of the best classes I have taken to date. You do have to listen when he explains assignments, but he is clear. He maintains control of the class and we all really learned a lot. We were sad on the last day of class.

This is absolutely my most favorite professor ever! He is the nicest man that genuinely wants to help everyone that he can. I was the LAST person on earth who wanted to do speech. I was terrified to talk in front of people. Mr. Arcuri made it so the material was what YOU wanted to talk about. He is SUPER honest! The best!!

Professor Arcuri was a great instructor. He made each student feel comfortable and confident about speaking in front of the class. He also made sure that we gave and received respect from one another during speeches. If you have the chance to take one of his classes, especially speech, you should. You will learn alot!

Great class. Dropbox assignments & discussion topics. 2st half of class based off of text & 2 addition plays you had to read. 2nd half of class was very opinion based. Prof Arcuri just asked that you actually participate even if your views are diff than his. I usually had opposing viewpoints & still got 100's on my topics. Easy class, take it!

Take him! I am a nervous wreck speaking in public but felt comfortable in his class and got an A. The syllabus explains everything required of you. Attendance is ONLY mandatory on speech days (yours & others) but I recommend going. Homework and tests are online and openbook. You won't regret it!

Speech class can get you to talking. Things of interest and not of interest. overall he was a great teacher and help you learn skills to take you to the next level take this class it would be worth your time and effort.

Professor Arcuri is a great teacher! He really made public speaking a lot more relaxing and fun. He explains exactly what he expects thoroughly and is great at sparing a good debate in class! His grading is fair and easy to get an A as long as you do all of your speeches and take the tests. He does require all homework and tests be taken online.

I took Professor Arcuri for Oral speech and presentation. He was amazing, and not to mention hilarious. Although he left early in the semester, so I am not sure if he is still a professor there or not. We had recieved a replacement professor from deland for the rest of the semester. if he is still teaching then I would definitely recommend him.
