i took this class and this teachers sucks, he is very boaring and does not answer any of the questions that the student ask, and when he does he make you feel very stupid.And all you do is take lots of notes

If you like a teacher that likes to talk about himself, this guys perfect.The lectures are not boring but useless when it comes to the only two tests. Theres really no way to prepare for the essay,so be sure to have good outline skills and very good backup evidence.A quick description for him:eccentric,****ed, egotistical,hypocrticaland lazy

This professor is one of the rudest teaachers I've ever had. He thinks he knows eveything but many of hi claims are not factual.His always insulting Christians and the bible; he talks bad about the bible without knowing why certain things are written. Oh yeah! do not yawn because according to this teacher that is been rude but not his dirty mouth

Horrible Teacher. He should retire already! He has one of the highest rates of students dropping from his courses and brags about it. I would think the Administration would look at this and observe him during his classes to make sure he is doing his job. If you fail his mid-term, which half his class did, that should clearly say something!

Terrible! honestly i cannot say what i did wrong :/ I received a C when i love writing and i happen to be a huge fan of all kinds of history. I understand he has a MASTERS in English and History, but i definitely did not deserve such a lousy grade. To attain a b or better you have to be a brown noser....no thank you.

If you think that cursing and stretching facts make a teacher cool you'd be ok on with this arrogant teacher. Not to mention the fact that he does not ask you for specifics in his exams and yet he'll grade you based on his own personal opinion.

Comes off as a rude & arrogant teacher. Did not like being questioned and told me to do my research even though I was right. Doesn't use or require a textbook. Doesn't give any HW or assignment so you grade depends solely on 3 well developed essays you must write on the spot. Will not show u or tell u what an A paper looks like. Avoid if you can.

Please save youself the stress and dont take him. I am a 4.0 gpa English major who loves History and is transfering to Berkeley this coming fall and I do not recommend taking him. I couldnt pass his essay exam and i love writting, i got a D and that was amoung the highest in the class. Take someone else who won't murder your gpa

He is very hard. Not the best teacher. It doesn't matter if you took notes or note. They dont help on the essays.

If you want to spice up your transcripts with a D or an F, take this class! If you pass, congratulations. You should go ahead and change your first name to Genius cause it's more likely that you will fail this class than pass it. His lectures are VERY interesting, not gonna lie. But nothing will help you at all on the Exams. Stay Away!!!!!!!

How do you teach Western Civilization II, and not mention the cold war? This is the worst teacher I've ever had. If you want your GPA to take a hit, go for it. He never once mentioned the cold war. And as for the grading system forget it, if you get a low grade and try to talk to him about it, he seems to be more interested in arguing than helping.

the teacher is pitiful and i believe it was because of his deteriorating health that caused him to be a mediocre professor. he did state at thew beginning of the semester that he has suffered from heart failure thus, now struggles with brain damage. hence, probably explains his inability to teach in a conducive manner. do not take this class!!!!!!!

hard class to pass. on the up side his lectures are one of the best but very long you can use notes but it did not help i still got a F. if you take his class go to his english exercise after class hours to pass his history class or i highly recommend finding another teacher trust me.

Long lectures and vague grading rubric.

Although he was a great lecturer his gradng skills were beyond poor. He doesn't offer any extra credit. No class or homework to boost points . I feel like he sets everyone up for failure. He has a major power trip and I feel enjoys to see his students fail. Instead of boosting his students, he puts us down. Not cool.

As a 4 point GPA student, I have to say that DONT TAKE HIM. If you want to take the course for fun, he would be the one that brings you very interesting stuff (his point of view). No textbook needed, No homework, No handout, No class participation, No Nothing, LITTLE lecture notes. Your grade is only based on your test, Rediculous One Question.

Terrible professor

This Professor is not good at all. He said that we didnt need the book but he will dates wrong. He makes history very boring and his grading is awful. Please dont take.

Lecture was entertaining due to the stories he would tell, but the lecture notes were too vague. Course consist of two exams and one quiz. Way the exams are graded is confusing. Can use a sheet of notes for both exams. You have to figure out your own grade.

This class is based completely on the lecture. The problem is that the professor constantly gets facts and certain events completely factually wrong, and with no book to correct him. The lectures are long, slow, and boring as well. Although not very good, the professor is very harsh and can be obnoxious . There's no syllabus, or grading rubric.

Only midterms and final. Grading scale is confusing. Tells you not to worry about tests then grades you harshly. Waste of time would not recommend.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this professor. Ratings from 2014 are the same as 2020. 6 years and he has not changed. Terrible professor. Do not hurt your GPA.

No required meeting sessions but he then required us to zoom. Required a textbook and then assigned no reading and didnt indicate which chapter to study. Told us not to email him as he wont answer. Did not post promised power points. Erased midterm scores without notice. Entire course grade was based on a final he would not prepare us for.

1. He made us Zoom even though the class said no required meetings. 2. Made us buy the book and then said we don't need it except if we want to impress him. 3. Didn't post the notes or slides that he said he would. Just pics with no info. 4. Nobody got an A on the midterm, then erased from our record. Said not to email him because he won't respond.

I still have no idea what my grade is. Said to not email him because he won't answer. Right as we took our final, he erased all assignments that were graded and the final is the only thing that is defining our grade. I had an A and when I check Canvas it still says N/A. I took this class for the first 5 weeks of Summer 2020. DO NOT TAKE!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR. He is dismissive and while the midterm seems doable, whatever your answer is will not be enough for him. It is lecture heavy and sometimes he gives the wrong dates and names. And if you do bring it up that he said the wrong date, he becomes defensive and arrogant. He doesn't want you to succeed. AVOID!

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Especially for a 5 week class. First day he said attendance was mandatory so i quit my second job. Next week he says it is optional, he blames students for not being able to get on zoom. We were only given a midterm which consisted of 500 words with no clear format and the WHOLE CLASS ( no exaggeration) got a 67-69.

Professor is cool to talk too but his way of teaching is horrible he does not give assignments for you to have a better grade. He only gives midterm and Final Essays but he does not explain or give an example on what he wants . He also gives the whole class the same grade. Winter of 2021 gave the whole class the same grade, wouldn't recommend.

No homework. No opportunity to succeed or get a better grade. He didnt let us see our grade until the end because up to him he would record manually. Felt very limited to my abilities and didnt learn a thing. His personality was cool but not enough to help me get a better grade. Essays were super easy but you have to be familiar with the topic.

Stay away from this professor unless you want a C or below. An extremely tough grader who does not set up students for success in this course. I've had many great history professors, but unfortunately this one is not one of them. I dropped this course to save my GPA. No homework, no required readings, and only lecture videos.

This professor is a very tough grader . And very disengaging. He gave me a D . I did all my hw and every thing I did not deserve this the next time around I will take history 11 with another professor but not with this professor such an awful professor in the history department.

No homework or no quizzes, just two assignments (the midterm and final) that determines your ENTIRE grade. If you are ever in traffic or commuting, you will get kicked out if you are late. His grading system is weird and he gives no actual good feedback besides "???". The reviews from 2009 are the EXACT same as today which is just amusing.

Rude and arrogant to say the least, at first I just thought he was strict but the way he presents himself and his lectures feels like someone with a superiority complex trying to talk about history in the most boring and bland way. the lack of assignments doesn't help a midterm is a halfway check not one of the only assignments you're gonna take.

I hate this professor. A condescending and arrogant attitude, you're ONLY graded on the midterm and final. We were told to make a study sheet that covers 200 years, the midterm only focused on a few of those years. His grading system is...well, it comes with a small handout. No homework or quizzes or any chances to get a better grade. RUN!

Grades are determined by the midterm and the final. These consist of some questions that you will write an essay about. If you fail one of these, you're cooked. Good luck though, you will probably fail both because the way they are graded is very flawed (personally read by the professor with no clear grading standards). DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

Do not take this professor if you only want to be graded on the midterm. Even if you get 10/10 on the Quizzes they do not matter. If you do not get a certain amount of points on the midterm you will only be able to get a D or an F, there is no coming back from that at all. His video lectures were all over the place but written lectures were fine.

Midterm and Final ONLY! Besides him being a heavy grader this dude would disrespect religion too much he should have more respect and consideration for others. But Beware I wouldn't recommend him the sad part is that the concept is super easy and fun! I'm shocked I have a F considering I love history & I am an all-A student!

I took his class last semester he was so tough and made us do a lot a lot of homework but he is so always talks loud and in a wheelchair but at least I am not picking his class again so not even this time because during the spring he made me do a lot of homework so I will definately pick his class again because he is too tough

Terrible and difficult professor to work with. The lectures are very long and the homework is a lot to complete. Took for Summee 2024 and failed because of the poor quality of the class lectures and the poor class participation/discussion. Professor also tends to speak about inappropriate topics in his lectures making students uncomfortable.

Please do not take this professor. This professor is very unclear and tough with his grading style. He only grades the mid-term and the final. Both are unclear and I genuinely cannot recommend this professor. If you need to take this class for a requirement wait for another professor.

This professor just needs to retire he doesn't communicate with students through canvas and he is very unclear what he's looking for in the final and midterm. He also talks about freaky stuff when he teaches which makes students uncomfortable. He's also very bipolar and unclear and not flexible at all he's very old school.

Said "no pencil" on a test when I wrote it in pen. He lets girls slide in late to class and not the bros, bro. He's rude and grumpy. He strays off topic too much and says a lot of inappropriate things. No electronics because he is old, and yeah. The only times I liked his class was when it was over D:

Theres no room for error when it come to this professor, yes theres 1 quiz a week and no class work, but it can affect your grade badly if you don't do well. You don't know what the midterm or final is, you find out the moment you open it with a short time limit thats not enough to have been prepared for. Best of luck to anyone taking this course.

He gave wrong information about the dates. He favorites certain parts of the world such as Europe and Middle East. He can be misogynistic. Nice to the girls but derogatory to the gay people in class using words like sissy to describe weakness while looking right at you. Dismissive of participation. He cancels class, but doesn't email us.
