The exams were pretty rough. It took quite a bit of studying. However, Dr. Barnett made it very clear what was expected on the exams and kept the same format throughout the semester.

He is has been one of my favorite teachers at Lee. You have to pay attention and take notes, but you come from the class with so much more knowledge than when you came into the class. His teaching inspired me to keep furthering my education because he made learning fun.

I love Dr. Barnett!!! He is definetly my favorite teacher at Lee. He is very helpful even if you need something that isn't associated with history. He makes history come alive through his stories, and his class is very interesting. You will take a lot of notes. Only grades are 4 tests- easy if you study, but you have to study everything.

Really enjoyed this class. Loved how he used stories to teach and actually made me remember some of the stuff. I wish I would've been prepared better for the first test and maybe I would've gotten a better grade. Make sure to take good notes.

Amen to the other comments. Barnett is remarkable. Classes consist of stories. It's your choice to sit back and soak it in or take notes. Write down every detail. He will tell you to review 30 minutes every day. He's not joking. for the 1st test I crammed and got a 67. When I reviewed every day I got a 94 on the next. Go talk to him, he cares.

His class was so interesting and he always had great stories about his own life and then connected it to what we were going to learn about in class that day.He doesnt take attendance but I never missed his class because you need all the notes you can get in order to do well on his exams.As long as you review, you'll do great in the class.Great guy!

Dr. Barnett is fantastic! I learned sooo much in his class and I hated history before taking his HIST212 class. It's not easy but well worth it. I never bought the book and still got an A. Just take good notes and you'll be fine. The way he teaches is great! He makes hitory memorable through his creative stories. You'll love him!

By far the best teascher at Lee. Iv had him twice this year and am going to England/Scotland with him in May. He is brilliant and no matter if you like history you will be engaged. I never missed his class. He teaches hist like a story so its like story time with critical thinking. I Love Barnett

The whole class time is him telling us stories of history. He writes a few names on the white board, but that's it. No power-point, no handout, nothing. I have loved the class, however it is hard. You have to study since tests are short answer & essay, but histroy has never been more alive. He really cares about his students.

Dr. Barnett is easily one of the best lecturers I have ever had. To pass his class you must simply show up (the hardest part, unless you are actually an adult and don't skip classes) and take good notes (unless you are a moron you should know to do this). The week before the test look at your notes periodically and you will get an A.

Rec. Amer. History and Govt. There are 4 exams, and that's it. The exams are straight from his lectures. Take good notes, STUDY often, and you will do great. He's a story teller. Ignore the study guides. If he writes it on the board, it's on the test. Most people have trouble with the tests because you're expected to write in your notes what YOU think is important. You learn more in the class, but in my case not what is on the test.

Fantastic teacher. Hilarious. He makes class interesting. The tests are hard though, they are the only grades for the whole semester. There are four. 7 identification questions, 15 fill in the blanks, and 1 essay worth 45 points. If you study though, the tests are a breeze. Take him for sure. Notecards will be your best friend.

I hate history. like this class. if you study the terms he gives you (about 120 each exam) you will make an A. He will help you. He goes to the study sessions before the exam. You have 4 exam. No cumulative final. get the types notes past around and make flash cards and you will be fine. An A is 93. He is very nice and class is very interesting.

Class is interesting because he tells stories and is funny. He truly cares about his students and is such a nice person. You will definitely learn. There are 5 tests. Each test has a lot of material, but they're not hard if you study. You will not do well in his class if you never come to class. If you try, you'll probably get a good grade.

4 Exams, no cumulative final. Dr. B is not super easy, but study and you will do just fine. The man is an inspiration!I absolutely hated history my entire life, but as of taking this class, I love it now. :)

I took his class over the summer. We didn't use a textbook. If you take detailed notes, you'll do fine. He gives study guides. If he spends a large amount of time on something, take good notes. That will likely be the essay topic on his exams. He is a really cool guy and very godly. I almost wish I had more history classes to take with him.

Love Dr Barnett! Really cares about all of his students personally. His lectures are interesting and he will keep you interested and make you laugh. He also gives study guides that tell you what will be on the tests and gives study sessions.

He is a brilliant man who genuinely cares about his students. Do whatever you can to take him. I was a struggling student dealing with depression and would have failed out (or worse) if not for him.

His teaching is a bit difficult to get used to because he teaches in stories rather than in lists of facts, but if stories stick in your brain better than lists you'll love him. He loves his students and is always available to help. Show up to his class (I promise they're hilarious), be engaged, and take time to study and you'll ace it.

Barnett can make almost anything interesting. He saunters over to his designated chair and crosses his legs, his hands folded in his lap like a dad about to tell a story to his kids. Tests are not date specific but detail specific. Tests are extremely difficult if you do not pay attention or study, also beware the in class essay.

I walked in a student who didn't like History and had never enjoyed a History class. Dr. Barnett changed my perspective and helped me actually enjoy the class and do well. His lectures are in story form which helps when trying to remember terms for the exams.

Barnette has achieved legend status at Lee, most of the hype is deserved however Im not completely sold even after making an A. Hes the anti-history teacher history teacher. So much so that I found myself missing some of the normal names and dates. He gets caught up in random side stories and the exams are quite tough. Many people dont make As.

Dr. Barnett is an absolute gem. He is kind, lively, and funny. He does offer special credit opportunities, tells history in story-format a lot, and cracks a good joke now and again, which allows for engagement and a relaxed environment. To PASS exams you should study notes 2 weeks before every exam and GO TO CLASS. Do not wait- you'll regret it.

Barnett is truly one of the top 3 reasons I love Lee right now. His lectures are told in story form, and he's really funny and engaging. Attendance isn't technically mandatory but he literally writes the test terms on the board every class. Textbook isn't necessary despite the syllabus. Go to the test reviews ad pay attention and you'll be fine.

Everybody at Lee seems to know Bob Barnett. He tells amazing stories leaving you wondering if they are even plausible. He relates everyone to the historical facts we were learning. He is big on group discussions. His tests are a lot of writing and you do need to study for them but, his stories make it so easy to remember. They really help.

He is completely lecture based. However, he tells history in a story format. You will need to take notes because all of his exams are based on lectures. Be sure to know CONTEXT. He doesn't make you remember dates and whatnot, just the significance of events. Would 100% recommend. If I could retake this class, I would. He is the best prof at Lee.

I am a nursing/biochem student who didn't like history. I took Dr. Barnetts class because I had to and I LOVED it! All the grades come from 4 tests, but if you study a lot its not that difficult. He is caring and sweet, he wants to get to know all of his students and invites you to come to his office and just talk. He is my fav prof at Lee!

I heard a lot of good things about Dr Barnett and they are all true! This is honestly one of the best professors at Lee University! It is not a stretch to say that in the short time I was in his class he had a profound impact on me and honestly I feel like I will be a better person because of meeting him! Wonderful human being

Dr. Barnett is amazing! the entire class is based on 4 exams so come to lecture and take detailed notes. He gives his lectures like he is telling a story; the man is a walking textbook. Just take notes exactly how he gives the lecture (story form) and its easy to remember. His essays demand specifics, but he drops hints as to what they are.

I love Dr. Barnett. He is a very nice man who truly loves his job. Recent American History is very test heavy, the only grades are the four exams. Barnett lectures all class and if you take good notes then you will do fine.

Dr. Barnett is easily the best teacher I have ever had. He grades based off of 4 exams which have no essay and are not cumulative. The answers only come from the lectures, and you will cover a LOT in those lectures so ALWAYS come to class! He has no attendance policy, so you aren't required to come, but trust me, you don't want to miss out.

Dr. Barnett is the top rated Lee professor for a reason. He has a lot of wisdom, a great sense of humor, and he teaches things that are actually interesting to most people. I took a Rock and Roll History class with him and we all had the best time listening to a bunch of 70s rock. He even takes time to try remember the hundreds of students' names.

Professor Barnett is one of the best professors I have ever had! He has a way of teaching through stories that helps you remember things so clearly. The only drawback is that he goes off on a lot of rabbit trails and they can be difficult to track. My advice: attend every lecture, take notes, and know that your four exams are your final grade.

Barnett was a great teacher. He made the topics super interesting which is what you want in a history professor. My advice is to TAKE GOOD NOTES. Your notes are all you will have to study. Make you write down all his key words and just elaborate on them as much as possible in your notes. Also, enjoy his stories. If you remember them, exams are easy

Dr. Barnett is a gem. I love him and his lectures and if I could take any of his classes again, I would!

I took this class last semester. All he grades is the exams, which there are 3 or 4. amazing stories, rly brings history to life. would take again.

Dr. Barnett is one of the BEST professors out there. He genuinely cares for his students and makes sure each one knows that. This class is HARD. The entire grade is made up of 4 tests but he will help out. As hard as it was I would take it again just because he is that good of a professor. Textbook is not necessary at all- just take good notes!

Mr. Barnett made me feel welcome and valuable. I was deciding my major, coming from a horrible background, and ostracized. He got through to me. He CARES. This is more than a course to him. I am now well on my way to becoming an attorney. I wish more were like him. If you have the chance to learn under him, please seize it.

Loved Dr. Barnett and plan on taking him again! Grade consists of 4 exams and are non cumulative. Show up to class and you will be fine. Don't get the textbook!!!! Tells awesome stories and always related them back to the what he's talking about. He only lectures and does it without a powerpoint so just pay attention!

I absolutely adore Dr. Barnett. I took him for Western Civ 2, and I'm so glad I did. He only grades off of 4 exams, which are all essay/short answer. His lectures are unmatched. I dread history classes, but I never dreaded his. It was the best part of my day. He is so intentional, and you will just fall in love with this man and his heart.

I absolutely loved this class. he doesn't have slides or use notes, he literally just talks off of memory. 4 exams during the course. STUDY for these... he gives a list of terms for the unit and anything on those is free game. so just be prepared. if he draws something out for a long time it will probably be an essay question. take him if you can!

The whole class is lecture. Only grades are four test grades. He is very understanding and helps when asked.

Mostly lectures, but prof is understanding. Used unstuck study alongside the textbook to prepare for tests and did well. Would recommend the class.

Loved this class! There is nothing online--so make sure to take good notes. The only grades are from the 4 tests. Study the term sheet!! Tests look like random terms that you have to identity, short answer, and one essay. I started studying a couple days before because its a lot of content per test but super awesome class. It flies by each day.

Legendary. He teaches through stories, which you'll either love or hate (I loved it). I learned so much about history and how to approach it. Dr. Barnett is so kind and wants to help you, so meet with him! Don't pass up the opportunity to learn from him. Take good notes - he'll turn a rabbit trail into an insightful point. Amazing prof and class.

He teaches through stories, as if he knew the historical people he's teaching about. Though strange, in terms of modern teaching styles, it really works, and I remember a lot from his classes just because his teaching style was so unique.

He is so kind and funny, truly enjoyed this class. He knows what he's talking about. It will take a lot of studying though!

One of the best professors I've had. Doesn't use technology for info. No powerpoints. Cares that you succeed.
