GREAT TEACHER! He is absolutely hilarious and will go to any lengths to make his lectures fun and interesting. Also he makes it very easy for his students to contact him for anything! Takes own time to have extra studyand review sessions before all tests!
he is awesome!!
He is so nice and funny! Take his class if you can. He has reviews before his tests and they are not hard at all!!
three words "best profesor ever". Though his test are hard you will know more about governement than you ever thought you would which makes the test seem easy.
Amazing professor! Gives out cell phone # in class for extra help! Makes students want to come and participate in class with his humor! Take him if you get a chance!
Great teacher, very easy to understand. Makes learning interesting.
Never had a more dedicated teacher!!!! He will do anything for his students in order to help them learn. willing to help outside classroom even on weekedns! great professor makes learning loads of fun!
He is one of the most dedicated professors I have ever had. There are 4 exams that aren't easy but he has two study sessions before each test to answer questions. I miss my other classes regularly and I have never missed this class, his lectures are good.
Can not understand his lectures at all! He goes way too fast and uses symbols and abbreviations for everything. Then assumes you know what he is talking about-which i never do.
hes an amazing and dedicated professor. his lectures can be somewhat intimidating, but he is always willing to help. he gives students every chance to get an A. puts humor in his lectures
Worst professor Ive had. His review don't help at all. I studied for every test and still got C's. He gives extra credit after tests which helps, but thats all he bases his grades on. If you are not a good test take dont take this class. WORST CLASS EVER!
PolySci YUK, but he made me look forward to class. Lectures are very entertaining, uses lots of pictures and acronyms to help you remember. I would take another class w/him, during election season would be fun...Have to study for the tests, not an easy A!
great teacher, he's really helpful. have to study circulum. makes "funny" jokes to keep your attention, and his "drawings" are pretty likeable. all in all, great teacher!
Great prof. Easy to understand. Easy tests. I didn't even open the textbook and got an A. Makes class interesting.
The BEST teacher I have had!! Gives reviews for tests and extra credit. Tests are easy if you study the review. Take him if you can!!!
Reviews do not help! Tests compile too much information to possibly do well from lectures. Have to read chapters and do review. Gives EC but never full credit.
Take this class, you won't regret it!!
Great prof, but talks a lil 2 fast. Gives helpful acronyms but also draws pictures that I wasnt sure what they meant. Gives home phone # and is eager to assist. Interesting class, fun to attend during election year (as I did). Tries to make jokes a lot...
This guy is one of the best teachers I've had so far If you have the chance to take his class do it. His teaching is clear and if you go to class you will pass. There is also a little bit of reading involved.
he's so funny! the class isnt boring at all, and he lets you out early. he does take attendance randomly though. but he always tells jokes, some that dont pertain to the notes. go to class and skim the reading, then go to review sessions, and you'll get atleast a B. plus, you can do extra credit.
This is the best teacher ever!!! I thought I was going to be board to death in this class, but he's always making funny jokes and drawings on the board. The test are mild, if u read and study then you should do just fine, his notes are easy to follow!! He's an all around great teacher!!!
Very clear and knowledgable. Yay for test reviews and extra credit!
BEST TEACHER I EVER HAD! I cannot stress enough how wonderful this man is. Not only is he exttremely helpful, he he so knowledgable and interesting! Plus, he is HILARIOUS! Really, he's the best teacher I've ever had and that is not an exaggeration.
This professor is very intertaining and always has fun stories to tell. He makes you want to go to class.
Professor Bass is an awesome teacher. He's friendly and funny and quite knowledgable. He's a great teacher and if you have a problem, he's compassionate and understanding. If you have to take POS 2041, make sure he's your teacher!!
Bob Bass is one of the greatest professors UCF has! His drawings and abbreviations are very helpful, his review sheets and extra credit help you a bunch on his tests, his stories are hilarious, and he really cares about his students and what he's teaching. Great class!
Bass is one of my favorite teachers all time. He is so funny and loves to tell jokes. His notes are helpful and tests aren't that hard. He cares about his students and has study sessions at Panera before a test! TAKE HIM!!!

This class was so fun. He is an amazing person and teacher! I was not really comfortable with government or politics before the class, and now I love them both. You definitely need to read and do the study guides. Plus, he is very generous with extra credit. You will also laugh your head off!!
def take him, interesting lectures, so helpful, gives reviews w/ everything for the test, gives extra credit, really wants you to do well, def recommend him.:)
A great well-rounded teacher. Gives reviews before each test, with a hand out with everything that the test will cover. Gives you an extra credit assignment after each test so you can earn an extra 10 pts. I learned a lot, and he is funny and very nice. Take notes, READ THE BOOK, andyou will do fine
I really enjoyed this professor. He actually cared whether or not you succeeded. Very kind and funny guy. I most strongly recommend this effective teacher. I learned so much about a subject that I am not really interested in.
This class is awesome! I hardly knew anything about government before I had this class, but got A's on all my tests. Just skim through the book and study his notes and his funny little drawings. He an excellent teacher & gives great test reviews! Take him!
the best prof i've ever had, made the class fun and made me want to go...if you can take his class then DEFFINATELY do!!
One of the best at UCF! Incredible Professor! All of his lectures are entertaining and he will draw funny things to help your remember concepts. He goes out of his way to help you.(he gives his cell phone and sets up study sessions) And his tests come right out of his study guides. TAKE HIM!
Mr. Bass is so ethusiastic. He is always upbeat and making jokes. His tests are kind of hard though. He offers opportunities for extra credit and has a review session before each test.
GREAT GUY VERY KNOWLEDGABLE ALWAYS GLAD TO HELP TONS OF PATIENCE MAKES CLASS FUN...TAKE HIM YOU WILL HAVE A BLAST
Excellent teacher. His lectures are very clear and can be quite interesting. While his jokes may fall flat on their face sometimes, his intentions are good natured. All in all, a great teacher that I highly recommend.
Bass is hilarious, I never look at the clock during his class. His jokes, acronyms, and amazing drawings will keep you interested- and he never keeps night classes past eight. Just read the chapters and write out his abbreviations on your notes, it can be confusing during studying if you don't.
not the easiest class. you only have three tests the entire semester and that is your grade. the tests are 85 questions in about 45 minutes and they are on about 200 pages at a time. somewhat funny but kinda of lame too. even with attending every class i was lost
This was a fun class! I didn't go to every single one, and I hardly studied and got a solid A. His tests are multiple choice - and you get extra credit opportunities in the class following the test. He tries to be funny, sometimes it falls flat.
Mr. Bass is AWESOME. If you have to take American Government make sure you take it with him.
Professor Bass is a very good teacher. I found his class to be very interesting and I actually enjoyed going. The tests are not very hard at all and I recommend taking him.
Professor Bass was the BEST professor that I have ever had here at UCF. He is always available to help and answer questions. His tests were more than fair. He made government fun and exciting. He was AWESOME!
Awesome teacher! His lectures are interesting and far from boring. Makes american history fun. Take his class. Tests are easy, just do the review.
AWESOME TEACHER! He is so nice and his class is actually interesting. Very funny, and he truly cares about his students and their learning :-)
Bass was an amazing prof. Not only does he give a study guide,he goes to panera on the sunday before the test to help you. He gives you both his house and cell# to contact him whenever. He was the most amazing college prof. I've ever had and he gives tons of ex.credit. He wants you to get an A.
Great teacher, interesting sense of humor. I got a B and I didn't read the entire chapters just the beginning and the summary. If you miss more than three classes he might withdraw you so go to class. His lectures are pretty interesting even if you don't like history. TAKE HIM, he's awesome
prof. bass always kept my attention in his classes and he was an awesome teacher at that. If you have to take American Gov't take him. Not only can the class be easy but fun too!
The best professor I have ever had! He made the cirriculum interesting and was extremely helpful!
GREAT teacher. Really cares about students. Class is NOT that hard. He does reviews on the weekends if you want extra help before the test. Take this teacher!!
Great teacher. He actually made government interesting. His notes make remembering everything pretty easy. Recommended for anyone taking government.
Professor Bass is a wonderful professor! He made government really interesting and has really funny jokes!
Professor Bass is Amazing. Never a dull moment, and he keeps everyones attention for the whole 50min. if you have to take government accept no one prof BUT Prof. Bass. He Rocks!
He is one of the best teachers ever. He keeps your attention the whole class and actually makes govt't interesting. Gives plenty of opportunities for exra credit. He is a bit random at times but just pay attention and go to class
Awesome class! Even if you do bad on a test, you have plenty of opportunity to make up for it. Be warned though because he does take attendance and will drop you if you are absent 3 times or more.
Cool professor, tests are 80+ questions and sometimes can be difficult. He does give a comprehensive review before the test. B is easily accomplishable, but got to work for that A. Overall a good professor and even gives out his cell number. He is a good choice for that class:)
Very fun, nice guy, very passionate about what he teaches. Tests were pretty difficult and thats basically all your grade is based on. Make sure to remember the EC he gives the day after the test though!
This was my favortie class! He gives out a review sheet with a list of everything you need to know for the test. Tests are fair. He is very easy to get a hold of, too. Very helpful teacher. Best teacher I've had so far. I definetly recommend Professor Bass!
i loved this class... b 4 i was very uninterested.. he made it easy to learn and follow..he tells (funny) jokes... he teaches a study session every sunday at panera b4 every exam! take dis class u will learn alot!
Great professor. Has study sessions every Sunday before the exam at Panera on Univ. You will learn a lot if you take this class. Keeps class fun and interesting and is funny. I recommend taking him!
He keeps class fun and interesting...
i loved his class... minus richard... the class should have been re-named richard talks 101... other than that it was wonderful. he is a great professor
an amazing professor with a true interest in the subject and his students. he was always extremely informative and let you know exactly what you needed to study in order to do well on his exams. i really enjoyed his class.
Take for government. Very funny and Interesting. You can not skip class at all but you will want to go. Book is very boring. He really ties to help his students out
Bob Bass is amazing! His class was relatively easy, just study the night before and you'll be fine. They are all multiple choice! There are no papers and no homework! And he is a really funny guy and he makes class interesting!
Bob Bass is a G. It's amazing but you do actually want to go to class. He's really smart, and you learn alot at a good pace. This was one of my favorite classes. 3 first test are pretty ez if u study and the final is a take home plus lots of extra credit oppurtunities. Definetly take.
if i was a history buff... i would be on this man like white on rice lol. I had soo much fun in this class and i hated gov't b4 i took this class. he comes up with catchy phrases to help u remember the material and makes the information easier to retain... definitely take him if u have problems rememberin history and go to class, things would be ea
I loved him!! Never EVER kept us the whole time... we actually barelly ever stayed over an hour! Test were a little long but you should read the chapters and come to class and you should be fine! Either way he made government fun!
Bass is amazingly helpful and tries his best to make american history interesting and exciting. Easy A if you study (hint: use the practice quizzes from the website on the book - he uses those questions on the tests sometimes!)
Really great professor. Makes the class fun and interesting. I honestly didn't care about gov't at all before this class. Gives out extra credit too and the final can't hurt your grade so long as you do it.
Hard class but very interesting helpful teacher. If you studied hard, attend his study groups and go to class you would do well. He works with you if you work with him other wise very tough class.
Such an amazing teacher! I enjoyed going to class everyday. His teaching style is easy to connect with because he relates everything with pictures or simple world analogies. He gives study guides and even meets with you at panera to discuss the tests. An easy A if you just study the facts
Amazing professor! SOO funny, makes class go by fast, and always lets you leave early. If you pay attention in class and read the book, you will get an A. And I'm horrible in government, but I'm doing really well in his class!
Bass is a great professor. He'll make class go by really quickly and you learn tons of new stuff. He's really funny and interesting so you'll basically never get bored. Best government class ever!
He's a really easy teacher. He lets you earn up to ten points extra credit after each test, which definitely helped me. I would recommend his class.
The best teacher. Lectures are not boring at all - shares cheesey jokes to help you remember the stuff for the exam. Makes himself available on Sundays before exams and always on his cell phone. If you have to take POS 2041 DO TAKE HIM!
Amazing Professor! He makes his classes fun with his jokes to help you remember certain things. They actually do work. Just go to class, pay attention and read and you will get an A. I highly recomend this professor to anyone!
Bobby Bass is amazing. He really knows what hes alking about and really makes government interesting. His tests are long (app 90 questions) but he gives a good review sheet and answers everything throughly. Attendance was mandatory but his classes aren't bad. LOADS of extra credit opportunities.
professor bass is awesome! so knowledgable. willing to help whenever. gives you his home & cell#-doesnt use his office-will meet you @ panera or on campus or wherever. really nice guy cares about his students. tests are not hard but not easy. study read and definitely study the really detailed review sheet he gives you heavily. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN
Robert bass is simply AMAZING! I hate anything to do with Goverment or History and I got As and Bs on the exams. He gives 3 exams and a take home final that cannot hurt you. He offers an easy 10 point extra credit assignment for every exam that takes 2 seconds and offers a bunch of EC at the end of the semester. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Great professor. He takes attendence, but he is pretty funny and usually lets you out early. Gives up to 10 points extra credit after every exam. Tests are pretty long, but aren't that difficult.
Very fun class. I hate government but he actually made me interested in it. He is very funny and an excellent teacher. His tests are kind of hard and long but he always allows you to get extra credit afterwards. He takes attendance but you always want to go to class.
AWESOME GUY! one of the best prof's I've had. Super funny and makes class really interesting with his stories. Really recommend taking him if you can.
Professor Bass is an excellent teacher. He makes his lectures interesting and he is very informative. The class was a pleasure to take and as long as you read the textbook and go to class you will do well, even if you do not like government. I HIGHLY recommend taking Professor Bass if you can.
Bass is really passionate about the subject. He is amazing, and draws images for people like me (who definitely need a visual). He is willing to meet you on his own time by having reviews on the sunday before the tests. I love this class, and the extra credit was good. Make sure to study, because some questions on the test are tricky.
GREAT PROF. EASY CLASS STUDY N READ THE BOOK N ULL BE FINE. HATED GOV. N STILL GOT AN A... HE'S AWSOME... DONT TAKE NE1 BUT HIM... HIS TEST R EASY, GIVES EXTRA CREDIT... N CAN MEET W/ U 4 HELP... FUNNY 2
He's very funny and very lineant. His tests aren't that bad but his final... horrible! Overall it was a fun class, got a little boring at times but enjoyed the debates or when we spoke about current events. Good prof though.
I would highly recommend this class with Professor Bass because he makes the course fun and very interesting. It's impossible to fail this course. Only downfall is that there is mandatory attendance. Overall, this class is an EASY A!!! :)
Very personable and friendly! Definatly knows what he's talking about and knows exactly how to describe it to you. Make sure to buy and read your book or you'll be missing about a third of the questions on the test. Just take notes and make sure to study for his tests.
Bass is amazing! Time flew by in government because he was so entertaining. And I learned a lot too. Take him, go to class, and study for tests, and you've got an A. And if you're having trouble, talk to him...he is VERY helpful.
Easiest class ever. Gives you reviews for the tests. Easy A.
Prof Bass is by far the best prof at UCF. He's funny, gives out lots of notes, gives very detailed study guides (which if you complete you're guranteed atleast a B), is helpful in & out of class (gives out cell phone number so u can call him whenever), and gives out extra credit. If you're looking for an easy A/B take this class!
Bass makes this class interesting and really funny. His drawings and jokes make the time fly while you still get the information. Extremely helpful, gives out his cell number. and he's kinda cute for an old guy. The only thing is the attendance, you're only allowed to miss 3 or 4 days before the pull you, which sucks when you take it 3 times a week
I love him! Very accomodating. All the review sessions are at Panera and very informal. He is so hip and funny. I especially love the way he takes attendance by having students write him a little message and then he'll respond the next class. Lots of devices to help you remember events and organizations.
talks very fast, funny jokes, mandatory attendance, hard tests, lots of extra credit,DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU HATE FINAL EXAMS!
I also had this teacher for American National Gov't, and really liked him, and while he is still nice and accomodating, his teaching style was pretty much useless and left something to be desired in Cultural Pluralism. You basically have essays for mid-term and final and 2 projects, so the class is easy enough if you do the work in a few days.
His lectures are so informative and entertaining! He has quirky ways to help us remember even the hardest dates and concepts, and always manages to keep our attention. Tests were somewhat hard, but if you study it will be fine. Seems to actually care about our learning. Great professor.
Do not consider anyone else for American Nat'l Gov. He is incredible. Teaches in a way to make you remember everything. Tests are a little hard, but not impossible with a little study time. There's random test questions from the book that he doesn't cover in class. Good opportunities for extra credit. TAKE HIM!
He's really funny and definitely knows what he's talking about. Make sure you go to class because if you miss more than 4, you're dismissed from the course. His tests aren't hard, just skim through the notes and the text. I definitely recommend him!!
This guy is the best! His lectures are always interesting, and if you need any help, he's always there. He was serious about learning though, so make sure you look over your notes! The more you attend class, the easier you'll remember things because he's so funny at relating things.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME Professor. You have to take him. He is the best. Complete the study guide and you will get an A. I wish I had payed more attention to the study guides. I would take his class again in a heartbeat, even if just to listen to his lectures. VERY entertaining and memorable. My Favorite Professor by far.
bass is the man. i am not a history person, but i enjoyed miss his class! he is so nice and funny. do the study guides, study in class notes and you'll be good. oh and he gives extra credit each test :) TAKE HIM!
GREAT TEACHER! I do not find history interesting but he really makes each class fun and entertaining! There is Extra Credit on every test, go to class and listen to his lectures! You can only miss 3 days of class or he will withdrawal you from the course! Great class!!! :)
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!! This guy was fantastic!! There are 4 tests and the 4th was a take home. Def. do the study guides and READ the book. I got B's on all by tests but with his amazing extra credit I then got A's on all my tests. So DEF. do the extra credit. He said something like 70% of his students recieve A's and B's. EASY!! TAKE HIM!!
Awesome class! Prof. Bass is a great guy. Always willing to help you; he wants you to succeed & his lectures are interesting. Takes attendance; suggest that you read the book and take good notes. Class wasn't easy but wasn't hard either. Go to class & you'll learn a lot. Def. would recommend this class!
bob bass = the greatet. he rocks i definatly advise people to take his class. he made government fun, which doesnt happen often. he is very helpful as well. take it!!
Cons: Attendance is mandatory. You have to take the final exam. Pros: He's hella cool, funny, and helpful. I wouldn't have wanted another history teacher. Take Bass.
He was a great teacher and really wants his students to learn. He works with your schedule. Go to his study groups, make you own study groups, do the extra credit for exams, and you should be okay. I didn't do great on most of the tests, and I still pulled out with a B! He's a great guy.
Great Teacher-He's hilarious and has a great teaching style for remembering boring material; makes the class fun and interesting-I was surprised :)
good teacher. big long tests that are somewhat tough but not too bad. gives you a study guide and is always there to help. very funny and fun class evn though the subject is boring. he's good at what he does
Mr. Bass is a great teacher who really knows his stuff. His lectures are very interesting and even funny. Even if you arent interested in political science you will enjoy this class. You do have to read the chapters for tests, and the tests are tough, but if you dont get behind you will be just fine. I strongly recommend this teacher to anyone!!!!!!
Awesome teacher! Interesting class, and Prof. Bass has a good sense of humor and extremely helpful. Study guide and extra credit opportunities for each test. Tests are fair, but read the text book. Only three absences permitted, but overall great teacher and class.
amazing amazing amazing. this is a great professor and i recomend all to take his class. best professor i have had yet. learned alot and relitivly easy. didnt mind going to class because i had a good time.
Great professor! really know his stuff. Wants people to be informed. Very helpful!
he is one of the best professors UCF has! he keep you laughing the whole time with his corny jokes. he is a very helpful guy that you can even call his cellphone and he wont be bothred. take him and you are guarenteed an A or B. i gotta A because of the extra credit he offers!!!
Bass is great! If you like the subject, then you should do just fine! He's a great professor and keeps you interested with quirky ways of remembering things and laughs all semester!
Best college professor I've ever had, hands down! If you can take this class, DO IT! He breaks everything down, lets you know what to use on the test and gives you his cell phone number and encourages you to call him at any time. Awesome, wonderful, inspiring professor. And I got an A!
Bob is so much freakin fun. Each lecture is rehearsed like a comedy routine. So fun, so easy to learn. Exams are by the book/lecture, and he gives lots of extra credit!
Bass was great. His lectures were always interesting, he gives little anecdotes to help you remember things. Tells you to cell his cell if you have any questions. Tests are difficult but doable. take him if you can!
This guy knows whats going on... hes super helpfl and just a super funny guy! no busy work just 3 test and a TAKE HOME FINAL... study the night before and go to his review and youll g et an A
Prof. Bass is AMAZING. I love politics and govt. but even if that wasn't the case, Bob Bass would make it fun. Buy the book, if only just to have it as a very helpful resource, and go to class. Why would you not want to? I seriously wish he taught other classes besides just Am. Govt.
Best Teacher I've had so far, I wanted to go to his class, there wasn't a class I didn't laugh in. He's a great guy and very helpful, I got a high B in the class, and would've gotten an A if I looked at the book more, just read the book and study your notes and you will get an A
Professor Bass was the most amazing teacher I've ever had, it's the one class that I always wanted to go to. He cracks jokes to make you remember the material. Know everything on the study guides and you will make an A, and the book is necessary.
Bass is just as great in upper level courses as he is in POS2041. In Minorities in Am Politics, your grade is based on MidTerm, Final, Group Project, and a paper (Critical Article Review). Everything is take home because he wants people to actually pay attention during lecture. Only night class I can stay awake in. Take Bass!
No one can say anything against his character. He is an extremely likable, fun, and hilarious guy. But as far as learning, you're on your own in this class. Read the chapter every week and work hard on all the take home projects. He says the exact same thing in lecture every week so it is pointless, but he makes attendance mandatory.
Vey funny guy. Keeps you interested in class. Material not simple as can be but not that hard either. If you're taking this course, this is the professor you want for sure
Professor Bass is a really funny guy. You can tell he loves his job. Attendance is mandatory, but he makes it worth your while. The tests are hard. He even warns you that his tests are hard. You really have to study. Reading his notes aren't enough, you have to read the chapters. He gives plenty of opportunities to redeem yourself though.
Professor Bass is the best Professor I have had at UCF so far. He's funny, smart, and extremely helpful. Attendance is mandatory, and reading the book definitely helps, but he makes everything worthwhile. He's a great guy and it's obvious that he loves what he is doing.
He is an amazing professor. I hate government and all that boring stuff and he makes it interesting and worth while. He gives a take home final and a chance at 10 extral credit on every test!
an extremely dedicated teacher, no doubt about it. i look forward to attending his class everyday and he elaborates on all his material. He also come up with ways to make the class fun.
Amazing teacher. I loved going to class because he was always funny and interesting. Definitely cares about his students and will go out of his way to help. I would recommend this professor to anyone. The exams are detailed, but read the book and take notes in class and you should do fine.
Bob Bass is one of the best professors I have had at the University so far! He makes things easy to remember and gives extra credit after each test. His tests are a bit difficult but they are not impossible. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Dr. Bass is an awesome professor who wants his students to get a decent grade, learn the material, and maybe even spark your interest in politics. I despised politricks until I took him, and he made it interesting. He offers extra credit and class is interesting and worth going. Take him if you can get in.
Professor Bass was awesome! He was funny and definitely sparked my interest in government. He was helpful and it was evident that he cared how his students did in his class. The only bad thing about his class was that your whole grade is based on four exams. But, he gave no homework and offered a lot of extra credit. Take him if you get the chance!
Awesome teacher! Funny and very interesting. Made everything easy to understand and he truly cares about his students!
Bass is an awesome professor! He's one of my favorites, and I wish I could have him again. He's really funny, too. Tests are his only grades, but if you do the study guides and read the chapters, then you'll be fine. Do the extra credit, it helps!
Bob Bass is the greatest professor at UCF. His lectures are all over the place but he is so helpful and interested in the subject it makes everyone want to participate. The workload is manageable and he is a fair grader. Unbelievably nice guy who really knows his stuff! Recommend 100%
Probably the most helpful professor in the country. Will do anything to advance your interest in the subject. He gives you his cell phone number and always takes as many questions as you have. Grade is based on take home mid term and final, easy group project, and a "research paper". A great class, and he's not a bad grader! A++
Bob Bass is awesome for government. He cracks jokes the entire class period and makes normal boring stuff interesting. He hosts review sessions every weekend before a test and gives easy extra credit after the test. He is always available on his cell phone and will answer any questions. Take gov. with Bass!
He does a great job of teaching the material and making it stick. You are only allowed 3 absences, other than that this was a wonderful class!
Professor Bass is an amazing teacher. He actually wants you to learn and he teaches in a fun way. The class is never boring; even at 9:30 I never fell asleep because he kept it entertaining. If you're required to take this class I definitely recommend him as a teacher!
Amazing teacher. He wants you to learn and succeed (he even gives you his cell number which you can call ANY time and get information or have him email you a lost study guide). His classes are very interesting and make it crystal clear what you need to know. Take this teacher.
Prof Bass is awesome. He keeps you entertained and interested in government at the same time. I personally dreaded going to gov. but after a few classes, it was a real learning experience. He comes up with neat ways to remember amendments and articles! supreme taco!
I have never had a professor before Bass who has truly taken an interest in the success of his students. His class is phenomenal!
Amazing professor who really cares and makes the class interesting. Take this professor!
Amazing professor! May sound redundant but he makes class a JOY! Cares if you learn, makes sure you learn, and you WILL laugh. If you take notes and read the text you will get an A or B practically guaranteed. He really does give a damn which is great and the cell phone thing is true, you can really call him at any time and he will help! Great Guy!
Prof. Bass is amazing! Goes out of his way to help students. Holds test review sessions for each test in front of the fountain that really help a lot. Offers tons of extra credit. Take home final exam. Laughed until I cried almost every class. Actually learned a lot, which is always nice. Professor Bass is a great guy, take him if you can!
Professor Bass is the BEST professor I have taken at UCF, by far. I learned and I laughed every day. His lectures and reviews are extremely informative, and he WANTS his students to succeed. I would go out of my way to take Professor Bass again.
The guy is really fun and known his information really well. He always kept me entertained throught his lectures and found silly(but very effective!) ways of helping you remember the information. The tests are not extremely hard, but you do need to study for them. Get the book, we dont use it all the time but you will need it throught the course.
Great Professor. Take him if you can't get Prof. Bradford. Tests are pretty challenging but if you study and go to his review sessions you'll do fine. Mainly got B's on the test but ended up w/ an A in the class because he gives a lot of extra credit!
The best professor at UCF I have had so far. He really cares about his students and goes out of his way to help. He makes all the material interesting. Gives a study guide, reviews, and gives extra credit after the test. Pay attention in class, read the book, study the notes and you should do fine.
He is the best professor. Went totally out of his way for me. Gives most people second chances and really cares for all his students. Love him so much, I want to have him again as a professor.
He is a great professor. He class is interesting and so are his lectures. He cares about his students and how they do. One of the best professors I have had so far.
Great professor! He is very kind and funny. Goes out of his way to help students by hosting a review, usually the weekend before the exam, on his own time. Always gives study guides. He always tells us to, but I never read from the book and got an A. I'm not really a visual learner and he liked to draw pictures (lol) on the board. Only drawback.
He is a very nice man, never rude, and has an obvious love for government. However, I read the book and went to class every single day and still had NO CLUE what he was talking about. I couldn't differeniate between babbling and lecture half the time, and study guides are very vague. He's nice, but really hard.
He is by the far the best prof I have had at UCF, class is always entertaining and he teaches the material in silly ways so that you remember. CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS A LOT!! Go to class and the review session and you will pass the class (and learn to love goverment!!)
I can honestly say he is the BEST professor I have ever had. He clearly cares about his students, and goes out of his way to help them if they need it. He's extremely funny and makes class interesting- it's the one class I don't dread going to, because of him. There are no major assignments; just 4 tests which you get study guides for a week in adv
I can honestly say he is the BEST professor I have ever had. He clearly cares about his students, and goes out of his way to help them if they need it. He's extremely funny and makes class interesting. There are no major assignments; just 3 tests which you get study guides for a week in advance (plus a take home final). TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!
Great professor! He is clear and lets you know what you need to read and understand. Lectures can sometimes be a bit dry and boring but overall the class was a pleasure. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic professor. Very knowledgeable and clear. Great sense of humor, but can be a little silly at times. Gives 4 multiple choice tests and offers extra credit on all of them. He gives out study guides before each test and I only used the book to skim right before a test. Easy A just as long as you attend class.
Basically the most awesome gov. prof EVER!! Very funny, witty, intelligent, and understanding. Easy easy A. I actually looked forward to going to his class b/c his lectures were interesting. Gives so much extra credit, it is your fault if you don't get an A.
This class was so easy and I learned so much! Bass is hilarious in class and definitely takes the "boring" out of government. Class is mandatory, but it's worth it to go. Tests are kinda long, but As are easy to get if you just study (plus extra credit). RECOMMEND!!!
Bass is one of the best government/history teachers I have ever had. He makes the most boring material interesting and understandable. There are plenty of opportunities to get a good grade with all the extra credit he gives out. He is extremely nice and caring towards his students. Attendance is mandatory but class goes by very quick with his humor
Bass is one of the best professors I've had at UCF. Took government spring of '09 and he still remembers my name when I see him on campus. Go to his study sessions before tests-they help A LOT! Great prof!
talks tooooo fast. did not pay attention. attendance required. ridiculous take-home final that is full of writing assignments. need to buy textbook.
First of all, the person who commented before is a moron. Of course you're gonna have attend class, it's college. And is he seriously complaining about a take home final? Anyway, Robert Bass is the best professor I've had, he cares about his students and he is the reason why political science is my major.
Bob Bass is the most personable teacher I've ever had. He really wants his students to do well. I was late to the final and had a series of bad luck, and he helped me out tremendously and took no point off. His tests aren't super easy, but the extra credit helps and he'll help you improve no matter what it takes.
He is a really decent teacher and I did well in the class, but that is only because I took AP Government in high school. He gets off topic very easily and will never answer you question straightforward or completely.
Professor Bass is one of the best professors that I have had in my college career. He is understanding and really cares about his students. His exams require you to think diligently, but they are reasonable and easy to get an "A" on. He rewards "above and beyond" work. If you want a really great professor, and want to learn a lot, take Prf. Bass.
Decent teacher. He's funny and interesting. Very hard to follow though. I'm a logical/linear thinker and I just could not follow this guy's lectures. He jumps around frequently between subjects without fully explaining things.. Not bad, just not for me.. If you can do that, then you're good and you'll learn a lot.
Professor is super nice. Make sure you go to class and take some notes. Also, you have to read to the book if you want to pass the exams. There are three exams and one take home final. The final is all essays. It's not hard, but I will rather take the multiple choice exams.
Professor Bass is a really funny and good professor. The only problem is he side tracks ALOT and he writes bad notes. As long as you read the book and take decent notes you will be fine.
I cannot say enough positive things about this professor. His lectures are interesting, he's ALWAYS willing to help you out and is very fair with grades. His exams are easy if you go to class. I would definitely recommend taking his class!
If you go to class and listen to the lectures, you will do well. He is one of the nicest professors I've had at UCF, definitely worth taking.
Can not say enough positive things. Best professor Ive ever had, period. I wish he taught more classes. Love this man.
One of my favorite professors here at UCF! He is hilarious, interactive, and a GREAT professor. He gives out review sheets and holds a review session before every exam. After every exam he allows you to turn in a very simple extra credit assignment that is TOTALLY opinion based!
Go to class. Take notes in class and from the book. Study and you will easily pass his exams.
Professor Bass is by at one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. He's very interactive and keep a normally boring class very interesting. He's very helpful and encourages questions and debate. Just make sure you can keep up with his shortcuts and pictures and you'll do great!
By far the greatest professor at UCF. He is an all around amazing guy, and is so helpful and compassionate to all his students and understands that we have lives outside of the classroom. Easy A class if you attend/write the papers. Take home exams, and presentation. He's a little liberal, but doesn't flaunt it, BEST PROFESSOR EVER!
Will not give direct answers to important questions, he beats around the bush or tells you that you didn't read the paper. He is wrong more times than right and constantly contradicts himself. Beware of lots of writing in PUP 3314, first paper was 25 pages long.
I love this guy! He is by far one of the best professors at UCF, and you would be SO lucky to have him! He gives out a study guide before each test, then hosts a review session every Sunday before the test and basically gives you the answers to the study guide. And he offers 10 points extra credit after each test! Easy easy easy A!
He's very nice and helpful. however, he tends to ramble a little and it can become confusing. Overall, you should pass the class if you take good notes and study.
Professor Bass was one of my favorite professors! He knows presents the information in ways that are easy for every student to understand. Must study for exams with book and notes. He creates many visuals on the board which at first seem insane but surprisingly are so easy to remember. An easy extra credit essay follows exams, 10 pts. TAKE HIM!
His class was very intense. He does a lot of illustrative explanations in his notes. They help with studying. If you study you will get and A or B. He also gives you a chance to get 10 extra credit points added to your test grade. good class !
Professor Bass is has been my favorite professor by far. He really knows and enjoys his subject, and is always willing to assist his students. Bass always teaches fun tricks to remember some difficult concepts. After every test he offers extra credit. Just read the book and go to class and you should be fine.
Professor Bass is hilarious, he keeps you intrigued all semester, and give you study guide which has everything that will be on the tests. Show up take notes and then answers the study guide and study it and you'll get an A. Oh and the Final is a brief overview survey which he gives the first week and answers throughout the semester.
Wonderful person, terrible professor. Discussions are never on topic. Exams consist of 7 2.5 page essays. Spends multiple class periods going over rubrics for various assignments, yet still manages to be unclear on what he wants. His lectures and assignments reflect this confusion. Waste of your time, left with less brain cells than I started with.
The class is easy to get an A in. 3 exams and a final. The final is a take-home exam. The first 3 exams are easy. He provides study guides and Sunday review sessions (go to these!). He offers extra credit after every exam (including the final). The extra credit is just writing an essay on whatever topic you choose.
Easy B, but hard A. Buy the book! The final and mid-term are a lot of work. Very helpful, but talks in circles so text him so he will have to keep it short.
Prof. Bass is a funny dude. He tries to make government a little less boring. He's a bit old school (writes with chalk, no powerpoints, etc)but it's fine. The exams are multiple choice. He gives study guides and extra credit opportunities. Final is a take home. You must study for this class, but it's not super hard.
He is a really nice guy and cares about his students. It isn't necessary to attend class, but his tests are pretty difficult. i study a lot for them and still receive a bad grade. His final is literally the longest most annoying final i've ever had. Write three essays, a handwritten essay and a test on top of that! He's a tough grader
Professor Bass is such a cool man. He actually really cares about his students and is super understanding if you need to be absent. He does absolutely nothing online and his tests are basically all from his lectures so even though attendance is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. Final is a pain because it's so long and exhausting.
Professor Bass really cares about his students and he's a nice guy. The best thing about his class was that he gives study guides before his tests so that helps a lot. The only grades you get in his class are tests so if you don't like that, I don't recommend him. Also he provides Sunday before the best tutoring by the pond :) Tests are hard though
The teacher is okay, but the class was soooo boring. He is helpful, and it is easy to get an A if you don't let the boredom keep you from cracking the book once in a while. The extra credit is lifesaving, but don't rely on it too much. I don't think he's very funny, but someone else might. And his lectures are all over the place sometime.
I honestly think Professor Bass is an amazing man. He loves his students so much and wants everyone to succeed in his class. He mostly lectures and you really don't have to write down any notes, but just listen carefully to what he says. If you don't understand something, he will go over and over it until you do. Also, he makes great mnemonics.
He is a great teacher! One of my favorites I have ever had. Attendance is not required, but I felt bad if I didn't go. He wants to be involved with all of his students and he really cares about you getting a good grade. If you go over key terms in the book then you'll do fine on the tests. Loved him.
Great professor, really willing to help at any time. straight forward, dont need to go to class but should because he reemphasizes concepts. Tests are fair and based on things in the book as well as his review sheet. Go to his review session the Sunday before the test.
I love Bob Bass. He's an awesome guy and loves to help his students. He would come to campus on a Sunday if you needed help. Class isn't super easy so don't expect to fly by with an A without studying. Very interesting class, book is necessary. Just attend class and always do the extra credit!
Great guy, but he doesn't really teach well. He rambles a lot and it is hard to take notes! He does give you a study guide for the exams and the book is really long and boring. Unless you are really into government, I wouldn't expect on getting an A!
By far one of my favorite professors thus far at UCF! It is clear that he loves his students and his job. I received an A in his class by studying the review sheet, reading the chapters, & going to lecture. The class consists of 4 exams, 1 being the final, which is 3 essays. Plenty of EC opportunity! I think an A is doable if you put in the effort!
Bass was a really good professor. He was always really enthusiastic about the subject and make the class more interesting. I personally went in hating government and he definitely made it enjoyable. I would definitely recommend.
He is a super nice and always there if you need anything. His lectures are all over the place and gets side tracked all the time. However, if you follow the study guide, you should be fine for the tests. Go to his review session because your grade is only based on 4 tests.
All the tests were actually papers.
Professor Bass is an amazing teacher. He's not always be crystal clear but he is there to help you. For this class he gives us a take home mid-term along and a take home final that are about 5-7 essays each. There is also a Critical Article Review that needs to be done as well as a group presentation. He gives decent time for completion.
Professor Bass is the most enthusiastic professor and it really makes his class enjoyable! I came to class every day, took good notes, and then read the chapters the night before the test. I got A's on every test, and the final is a take-home one. He offers lots of extra credit, and he always goes the extra mile for students who need and ask for it
Super Nice guy and is very understanding when it comes to makeup tests, and extra credit. His Extra Credit saved my grade because I struggled on how to study for his tests. He is though, very hard to understand, and his "notes" are chalk scribbles of a single letter on a black board...
Although I hate government, Proffesor Bass made it doable. He was a really nice guy and always cared about what was going on in your life. He always wanted to help out . Sometimes I think it's tough, but I'm doing pretty well!
He is really good. Must take to change your world view
I was nervous to take this class, but if you apply yourself, it's honestly not bad at all. Go to class, take notes, read the book, focus on the review guide topics, and you'll be fine. Tests are long but fair, and the final is a take home paper which is kinda tedious and know the BACE. He can go off on confusing tangents, but I'd take it again.
This class was extremely easy. He says you need to come to lecture to pass his tests, but his tests revolve around the study guide. Get the textbook, do the study guide and you'll be fine. Your grade is based off of 4 exam (including the final), so make sure to study for his tests!
your basic GenEd class. very awesome teacher and even let me make up a test that i missed. textbook inst really necessary. helps you understand the material by relating it to the real world. sexy mustache is a plus. honestly, if you do bad in this class or have a problem with him, you're not ready for college.
I took it over the summer and his lectures were quite long (it being all classes are almost two hours long) but his tests are pretty straight forward. He goes through most of the information you will need during his lectures so definitely go & you probably won't need to read the textbook too much. He gives 10 point extra credit for a long response
Professor Bass is a hilarious and quirky professor. His lectures can be a bit boring at times though. his teaching method is completely unorthodox. He's easy to understand and gives easy 10 point extra credit after tests.
By far the most memorable professor I've had. It's clear he really wants his students to learn the subject. If you listen to what he says and study the material he gives you then you can pass the class with a good grade and actually learn the subject.
Bass is an amazing professor, he makes the lectures extremely fun. You have 4 exams, 3 are in class about 75 questions each then 1 take home exam. Class averages on the exams are around an 80-90 with the bonus day. For each exam, you can make a question and answer it for up to 10 points on your test. He is your best bet for an A for POS2041.
Government wasn't really something I thought I'd be into, but he made the class interesting. He writes notes by hand on a chalk board and he doesn't have the best handwriting, but he does try to explain everything. He gets off track sometimes telling stories and stuff, but overall he's a great teach who's always willing to help his students.
Don't bother buying the book you can find a PDF online. He only gives 3 tests but as long as you go from the study guide you should do fine. I'm not a government person and got an A in the class. He gives you up to 10 points extra credit opportunity after every exam and the final is an essay. Definitely recommend!
He uses a lot of puns and funny stories that help you learn, but you have to read the book.
4 Tests - material is straight from the lecture/Study guide. If you do the study guide thoroughly you'll for sure get an A on the exam. He cracks corny jokes on occasion and tells a lot of stories. He knows what he is talking about! Final exam is NOT cumulative and is take-home.
I liked the professor more than the class. He has 3 tests and a final, but the final is legit 3 typed essays and a written one. And it's not worth any more than the 3 previous MC tests. Which is annoying to me personally. But he's really nice and will help you. He offers up to 10 points EC on each test. I got a B in the class without the book.
Bass is a really funny and cool guy! He doesn't assign homework and almost everything you need to pass the class is done in class. Tests are based on the text and in-class notes. The only complaint I have is that his notes are very complicated to understand because of abbreviations. Gives extra credit essays where you make the question and answer.
Favorite class of the semester! If you have any interest in Political Science you will love this class. The book isn't necessary if you really pay attention in class, but if you want to be able to skip class read the book and you will do fine.
Bass is great. His exams are like when you think its super easy and you end up doing worse than you expected. But he offers up to 10 points extra credit for each exam which makes it okay. Not hard to get at least a B. Use the book to study for the exams and thats it. No homework, no quizzes. Just exams. Final is a take home paper.
Professor Bass and his class was amazing. But warning if you're taking this class jus to get an easy A - don't. While Bass is a phenomenal professor, it takes time to study for the exams and the final exam is a 10 page paper. (3 2 &1/2 page essays, and one 3-5 page commentary). Can definitely get an A though.
He's funny, and you can tell he genuinely wants students to get interested and pass. Follow the study guide, read every word of the chapters for the test and show up for every bonus day and you'll pass with a high A. Still are plenty of kids who have C's and B's because they didn't bother to read the text and never showed up for bonus day.
Offers up to 10 points of extra credit after each exam. Lectures are not online and he doesn't use webcourses for anything. Lectures are on a whiteboard and he's very passionate for what he teaches which made me want to learn. Exams are very similar to review sheets. Very good professor.
Excellent professor! I am really not interested in government but this professor made me want to learn and know more about it. He is a great lecturer and is always there for you. Class is easy and bonus points are offered for each exam including the final. Would take again!
He is a real caring guy if you ever have questions you can text him and responds pretty fast. His class is not that difficult he gives study guides for all his test and the last exam is fill in the blank. he also offers up to 10 extra credit points just for making your own question
I am from another country and didn't know much about the American government. This professor was awesome and had the most amazing lectures, he gave study guides which really helped, and his final was really easy, it was fill in the blank and he gives you the answers through out the semester. Loved this professor!
Really nice guy and very approachable. He does a good job keeping the class interesting by making jokes etc. The only thing I did not like was how he wrote notes on the board. It was a bunch of scribbles or abbreviations that were hard to remember later. Other than that, great professor.
He is a great teacher. Just read the materials and listen to him in class. He is funny and often tells stories that he relates to the topic. Took the class over the summer and got an A.
By far the best teacher I've had. Class is set up by 3 Tests which are based off word for word in his lectures and study guide. Gives extra credit up to 10 points for each test. Final is a 9 page paper in which he gives specific and easy details on what he wants. Lectures are funny and interesting. Truly cares about his students. 10/10 recommend
Absolutely great professor, definitely knows what he's taking about and keeps class interesting. Tests are very straightforward and easy to do well if you read and study. Only con is that the final is 4 separate essays each with a 3 page minimum on each but is very straightforward and clear on what is wanted.
He really cares about his students & gives great lectures. He gives a few ec opportunities. There were 3 tests, each covering 3 or 4 chapters & each chapter was LONG. 30 pages, small font. Took a while to read. I just hated how you couldn't read anything on the board bc it was so messy. Also, the final was composed of 4 essays, each min 3 pages.
Super nice and a great person! His dedication for his students and for the subject he teaches is evident. Personally I was not a fan of his disorganized and word heavy lecture style but he has some interesting stories that i don't think I'll ever forget. Exams are easy multiple choice if you read the textbook and he offers a lot of extra credit!
Took this last summer with Prof. Bass. Great teacher, can't go wrong with him
Professor Bass is an extremely intelligent and kindhearted individual. He is a tough grader and will not round up. His lectures move very quickly - be SURE you take notes. I never really opened the textbook, but it is good to have for the final exam papers. Lectures are entertaining and where you draw all info for the exams. I would recommend.
The tests are only difficult if you don't study. Prof. Bass is a great guy who cares about his students and tries to make lectures interesting. Attendance is not mandatory, but skipping class means skipping some important information. Also, don't forget the book. You'll need it.
Prof. Bass is a wonderful teacher. He encourages participation and student feedback. He gives review sheets before tests and gives extra credit opportunites. He doesn't use webcourses, rather he discusses test grades face to face and gives good feedback. That being said, the only other grades are from attendance, so pay attention, read, and study.
He loves to make jokes with the class and he tried to tie them into lecture. Gives many acronyms to help remember certain ideas. No homework given besides reading the chapters which is what his tests mainly cover. Whole course is based off 3 tests and the final for grades.
He is a pretty funny guy and his lectures are usually light and interesting. The only grades in this class are three tests and a final exam, no homework, so it is important that you do good on them. As long you read the textbook thoroughly you should be successful in this class.
The tests are difficult at times, but the extra credit makes the class a lot less stressful. His lectures are entertaining, but he writes on the board (a lot of abbreviations) & it gets confusing. You have to read the textbook to pass with an A. Overall, take him if you can! Exam 4 is a make up of 4 essays- very time consuming but straight forward
This man is amazing. His lectures are spectacular. You won't need to read the text word for word but some questions on his 80-question multiple choice tests specifically mention something in the book. He is a very interesting & caring individual.
Awesome teacher. Lots of work but definitely well worth it. I enjoyed his lectures, he was very knowledgeable and cares about his student. KEEP THE RUBRIC. If you have questions about the course, it most likely on the rubric.
Professor Bass is the GOAT... Simple as that.
Really caring and knowledgeable guy. His tests can be tricky, but he provides really helpful study guides. He is old fashioned, so he literally tells you your grade after every exam (no online communication) & his lectures can be confusing and sporadic so taking notes can be hard.
Took this class for gen ed credit, was clueless about the government, learned quite a lot after this class. Professor Bass was awesome at conveying complex topics in a college student way. Read the book for sure, best way to pass the 80-some question exams. Each test has 10 point bonus (make a question + answer), final: 4 essays + 10 pt ec.
Amazing and super caring professor. Totally recommend him!
Cares about his students, does not want to make the class harder than it needs to be. Gives good study guides that cover al the information on exams. A lot of reading needed to succeed.
Prof Bass the best. He makes class engaging and you learn a lot from all of his crazy acronyms. I took him over summer and we only had 3 tests and a final which he gives you all of the answers to before hand. His tests were easy but, you def need the book because that's what his tests was based off. I skipped some classes and still got an A.
Professor Bass was the best professor i've ever had, attendance wasn't mandatory but his lectures made you want to go. He truly cares about his students, he gives a lot of extra credit. It's kind of impossible to fail this class in my opinion, I would highly recommend him.
He's a very funny teacher. He knows how to give great lessons and put them in context with what we're learning. I enjoyed his class so much but it might be difficult if you're not use to pacing yourself and reading often.
Professor Bass was a great teacher! Highly recommend for POS 2041. As long as you read the textbook, take notes, and study you are guaranteed to get an A in his class. He gives out extra credit on every test, which really helps!
Probably my favorite professor ever so far! Not the easiest class but as long as you're not lazy, you'll be fine, I passed with an A
Prof Bass is super kind and caring. Attendance is taken by handing in slips of paper with short answers to conversational questions he asks. He makes an effort to know every single student. Also, he remains professional and keeps his politics to himself, even though I took him during the 2016 Election. His class was informative and enjoyable.
Respectful, friendly, and very knowledgeable in his field. His lectures are fun. Extra Credit is the best thing about his class. To end up with an A, reading the textbook is a must.
He's a good professor but sometimes his lectures don't directly correlate with the textbook readings. STUDY REALLY HARD FOR THE FIRST EXAM! Make sure you read the book and do the study guides he gives because all of the test questions come from the book. He doesn't curve.. I got an 89.7 and he doesn't believe in + -but I still enjoyed the class.
Prof Bass was the best prof I've had so far. His class isn't super easy, but you will learn a lot. I'm not even interested in AM Gov but I really enjoyed this class. He is caring and his lectures are funny. Make sure to read the book for all the exams and thoroughly study the material! He is an awesome teacher, you won't be disappointed.
Extremely funny and knowledgeable but a little crazy and ADD. Lectures are hard to follow so most kids just studied from the book. But he's easy to reach outside of class and very willing to help and very nice. Doesn't give + or - grades and doesn't post anything online (he's pretty old). Only based on 3 tests and final so it can be hard on the GPA
Professor Bass is amazing. He has lectures that are hard to follow but I found if you just listen instead of writing notes, you'll get a good idea of the content. The tests are easy and a good portion of the information comes right from the text book. He's accessible outside of class and will make it clear what you need to do to get a good grade.
My absolute favorite professor I have ever had. Super easy to get an A in his class. Go to lecture and listen to what he says, read the textbook, and do his study guide. He is hilarious and super sweet.
Attendance isn't required, but his lectures are the only real source of info that you're tested on. His tests aren't very hard at all if you just study a bit. His final exam is a ridiculous amount of work, though. 3 separate essays, then an in class test that's just a regurgitation of information from several fill-in-the-blank style papers.
Only grades are exams + final. Gives topic outlines about a week before exams, exams are roughly 80 questions. Final is 4 take home essays + in class fill in the blank. A little all over the place but really amusing and cares a lot about his students. Wouldnt say this is an easy A unless you love gov.
Your grade is based on 3 exams and the final. Most of the tests are based on his lectures but reading the textbook as well is very helpful. Definitely take notes!!! Professor Bass is amazing. He is so funny making class entertaining and so smart. I have never been interested in our government until now
HE IS AWESOME!! If you can, TAKE HIM FOR SURE! 3 tests, and a final. He gives amazing lectures and he really knows how to engage u in them. The final is easy but lots of work, 2 parts, 4 essays, 9 days to do it. He tells u what to write and how. Part 2 is a super easy fill in the blank test, gives u all answers well in advance. He loves to help u!!
Lectures are a little old-fashioned as he writes on a chalkboard, and he talks around in circles so it's hard to focus in lectures sometimes. However, he is very clear about what will be on each test and basically gives you all the answers in lectures. So if you show up and study you'll be fine
Professor Bass is such a great man and professor. He is very caring and funny and makes you want to come to class with his lectures. I actually didn't imagine myself enjoying a government class so much but he made it amazing. If you can't read the board let him know and he will try fixing it too. Basically no assignments just all exams.
He is an amazing teacher and as long as you reach out he will help you. The course is hard but he tries his best to provide clear understandings of the content.
Bass is an entertaining professor, well as entertaining as a government teacher can be. The class is basically graded by the 3 exams and the final, but if you follow along in lectures and read the chapters assigned you will be fine. He really cares about each student and tries his best to get to know each one. Definitely recommend.
Took in Summer B term, 3 exams and a fill in the blank final. Show up to lectures. He talks in circles, but if you somewhat listen to key words you will remember enough for the exam. Study, use Quizlets, READ THE TEXTBOOK. Amazing teacher; allows bonus question up to 10 points (write a critical question with a lot of evidence and reasoning)
Professor Bass is one of the best at UCF. He teaches in an unbiased way that is interesting and entertaining. He uses humor to communicate political ideas and is very kind and approachable. Students want to put in the effort in his class because of how nice of a guy he is.
His lectures are a bit confusing but he genuinely wants people to succeed. While going to class can help with some questions on the tests, majority of the information you can find on quizlets-there's one for each of his tests. He also offers extra credit after each test to come up with a question and write an extended response-so take advantage.
Passionate, entertaining, and very good at simplifying complex topics. Class is graded on 3 multiple-choice exams (80 q) and a fill-in-the-blank final that he gave to my class on the first day. Lectures are circular & I felt like I wasn't learning at first, but that was NOT the case! Planning on auditing his class next year. Definitely worth it.
Bass is funny. He is somewhat scatterbrained and his lectures make sense about half of the time but it is definitely entertaining and he is able to make complex topics simpler. 4 exams total, he gives reviews before each so as long as you study them a day or two before the exams its an easy A.
This class taught me so much about our government/policies and got me into politics. I read the news everyday and know so much more about our president and government than I ever have because of Bass. His lectures were all over the place so I stopped taking notes, but got an A on every exam because of Quizlet. Gives up to 10 points EC for each exam
First of all Don't buy that book, go to the library. There are many ways to pass this class. As long as you know the material you don't really need to attend classes. He gives extra credit that will only have impact if you read. Use the internet and ask him questions. He's one of the kindest professors you'll ever meet
Best professor I've taken at UCF. He genuinely cares about you, not just your grade. He gives you a fill in the blank the first day and that is 90% of the final, he doesn't even change the order. Ten points extra credit on all three exams. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend you go as lectures are fun and he is a funny guy. Take him!
Going to the lectures is important, because there are specific things he says that are not in the textbook that end up on the exams.
Overall a good guy that wants his students to succeed, more so in the understanding of American Government. He's very approachable and has a great sense of humor. Fair grades, fair class. I recommend taking him.
Okay so lecturers were completely all over the place. I would sit there with pen in hand and not write a single thing down simply because I was literally confused the entire time. He gives study guides which you can find online to help study. He gives 10 extra credit points for every test too. Study and do the extra credit and you'll pass.
Great guy! He gives you the final exam on day 1 that you fill out throughout the semester. The entire grade is from 4 tests, each worth 25%, with the 3 during the year having an extra credit essay portion for up to 10%. The book is recommended to supplement the teaching, but you should definitely go to class. Take him if you need the credit!
Reading chalk board notes is the only concern you'll have all semester. Bass makes everything super easy to remember and covers course info really well. If you attend his lectures and read the chapters you'll get an easy A.
Professor Bass is a great guy who really cares about his students, but he is not an amazing professor. His lectures were funny and entertaining, but very scattered and hard to follow. Your grade is based ONLY on four tests, so be prepared for all of them. They aren't too hard (he gives a study guide) but make sure to read the textbook!
Really nice guy and super funny. You don't have to go to class if you read the chapter page by page which is pretty easy. If you show up to class, you're guaranteed to learn about current events as well. READ THE BOOK and you will do great. He makes class easy, fun and bearable.
Great professor if he stays on topic, kinda boring when he starts to ramble. Also, THE ONLY GRADES ARE 3 exams and the final so if you're not a good test-taker definitely would not recommend.
Professor Bass' lecturing style can be really hard to get past, because he rambles a lot and talks in a non-linear style. However, if you read the textbook, you should be perfectly fine. His extra credit essays are great, and overall I enjoyed going to class. He doesn't email or post things online, only way to reach out to him is through texting.
Professor Bass was a great introduction to college as one of my first teachers (I am a freshman this year). Sometimes his lectures were confusing, as he has a lot of complicated ideas that take a while to understand, but everything becomes clearer as the class goes on. 3 exams and a final are the entire grade. He is a great person.
Professor Bass cares about the students. The grades in this class are only 4 exams. However, they are easy as long as you prepare! Quizlet was extremely helpful in this class. Additionally, he gives 3 extra credit bonus essays. His lectures were sometimes difficult to follow, but he is a person with great humor and made the class enjoyable.
Best Teacher Ever. He will answer any questions, very easy to reach and is hilarious during lectures. Go to class and you'll know what is expected on the tests. You're basically given your final the first week or so of class and it's fill in the blank. Up to 10 pts extra credit after every test. Very easy and informational. Take his class!!
Professor Bass is a great professor if you want to learn more about our government/politics. 4 total exams(including final), 3 bonus essays. Exams are okay if you read the book and put in good amount of time to study before the exam date. Don't underestimate the difficulty of the exam. Be prepared and you'll get an A.
Robert Bass is a solid choice. His class is so easy and set up for your success and if you cannot keep up well you need to reevaluate college. Just READ THE BOOK; and study his review sheet and you will pass for sure. There are also 3-4 extra credits opportunities after each test so make sure to show up the next class. EASY A!
Professor Bass was one of the most funniest and interesting professors that I have ever had. You are graded on 4 exams which you can defiantly pass if you study the study guide. The final exam is the exact answers on the first ever study guide he provided to the class. Overall amazing Professor.
You do not have to show up to class tbh, but his lectures definitely make the class easier to understand. Same thing with the textbook, you can definetely get an A in the class without the textbook there are a lot of quizlets for this class so use them! overall his grading is straight foward.
Bass gives an amazing lecture. He really knows his stuff & really want you to succeed. He is always open to comments & questions. Super easy to reach outside of the classroom & always send update emails which are very useful. Great professor
Prof. Bass has been the quirkiest professor I've had. He's silly, and really cares about his students. His tests are extremely long (70ish questions), but relatively easy. His lectures are CONFUSING as he jumps all over the place, and chalk board notes aren't my go-to. You can write up to 2 papers and recieve extra credit for them both.
TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Politics usually bores me, but Professor Bass made every class super fun!! He is hilarious and cares about each of his students. I learned so much from Professor Bass and always loved talking with him. Tests were easy (study guides were EXTREMELY helpful). Highly recommend this class or any class with Professor Bass!!!!!!!
Professor Bass was a funny guy but the course was only tests. It makes it hard to get a good grade if you don't grasp the material as well. He was pretty understanding when transitioning to online because of the pandemic. The lectures, in my opinion, were kind of repetitive and the board was hard to read and understand.
If you're not a good test taker, don't take this class. If you are, I definitely suggest. His lectures are really confusing, but funny. If you read the book you'll do well on the exam. He also gives papers as extra credit opportunities. If you're okay with only having tests in the grade book, I recommend! I enjoyed being in his class.
The best professor I ever had. I miss him. I still think about that one time in lecture when someones phone went off and their ringtone was the Mortal Combat theme. Bass responded by saying that this should be played while we turn in the tests. 10/10 professor. Take him and value him
