Dr. Behling is a great teacher. He is enthusiastic about his work, and he is always in a good mood. He gives out a lot of bonus points, so if you go to class and make an honest attempt, you should get a good grade. If you need a lab science, take him.
I think it was 110 (old 10&11), had his class back in 97 (OH MY GOODNESS)..lol...when I was freshman, great class, and lots of fun...open book and open notebook during the test...got an A... it was nice.
Probably one of the best professors at WVU. Hands down, whether in a huge Freshman section or a small upper-level, Dr. Bob is witty, laid-back, and absolutely loves to teach. Students are his life. Check out the crazy scientist hair and the suspenders!
Dr. Bob is awesome! He's an extremely knowledgeable man, an excellent teacher, and he cares for his students and goes out of his way to help them learn. I would definately recommend him to anyone! :)
This guy rules! He will give some open book tests and allows you to take quizes home! Learning about rocks isnt that exciting but this guy makes the class easier by the way he teaches.
Easy class, but have to go to class and listen to stories to pass open book tests. Tests 90% about stories told in class.
Dr. Behling is the best professor for that course. I would def. recommend him to anyone. He is funny and extremely smart. He def. makes the class interesting. You could never fall asleep in that class ever.

I think it was 342, it was Environmental Geology. Very good teacher. Easy to talk to, very helpful. You will learn a great deal of material. I would recommed Dr. Behling for anyone. He is also my advisor, great person to know!

Nice teacher very upbeat and fun lectures but, tests are pretty hard, go to class and listen well and take detailed notes on current events they are 90% of the test, kind of pointless to read the textbook.
Dr. Bob is by far the best profesor i have had this semester. he is nice and a very efective teacher. very funny man. the tests are hard but if you go to class you should do fine.
Go to class EVERYDAY. You never know when he is going to give an extra credit quiz plus about 95% of the exams are from class lectures. Just take good notes and don't think anything he says is unimportant cause it will be on the test. I thought this class was very boring though.
His class is impossible to fail. You get 3 exams and if you mess up you can take a remedial. Extra credit quizzes help - usually 10 pts But I recently got a 70 that turned into a 86 with the extra credit. If your sick, you can take the test later. He makes geology as fun as it can be. Nice Guy.
i am not interested in geology at all and this man made it a little bit fun for me.... you must pay a lot of attention to what he says!! but its a good class
Had for Geology 101 (got an A). Open-book, open-note ; what more do you want? Take the class! Nice, funny, and helpful. I would recommend attending class and taking notes from what he says. Awesome for people who have to take University required science classes.
Online course, 4 open book, open note, open Internet exams. Problem is not much on the exams is found in book or notes (units online). Spend and exhausting amount of time trying to find info on Internet. Helpful if you email him, but still not very clear as to how to answer some of the questions.
AWESOME professor! The exams are mainly short essay and if you write SOMETHING you'll at least get some points. You do want to attend class as most of the exam material is from lectures. Very funny guy, sometimes absent-minded, but overall a fabulous teacher!
Great professor. No book was required for geo 365, the class was all lecture based. You must show up for his lectures, all the information on the test is from his lectures. Pay attention to his current events as at least 5 questions per test are on current events he talks about.
Easy as crap...you don't even need to buy the text book...just show up for class and take notes. No attendace policy, though. Extra credit quizzes. Tests=cake. Cool guy to talk to out of class too...he talked about once having poison ivy and then his arms weeping on kids sitting in the front row while he was writing on the projector!
this man makes no sence and when you have a problem with something make sure you ask for help 3 to 4 wks a head of time the class sucks and so does the teacher he hardly talks about stuff that the class should be about. everyone else is right though he does make the book useless but i still read it in hopes of learning something.
This man can't teach at all. When you need him to give you notes, you have to ask him ahead of time because by the time he gets the notes for you its a day before the test. He is so confusing on his lectures. You don't know what to write in your notes and what to study for the tests. His tests are hard as well. He is also not an artist.
wow he is great wondeful the best ever ouch what the hell oh the rock just hit me in the head now i am a wake he sucks and so does geology!!! he makes the worse jokes and makes the test questions a mile long. and they make no sense he is a rocl freak !!!!!!!!!!!

The book is pretty much useless. Overall it's fairly easy. GO TO CLASS! He gives in class quizes that count as EC and really boosts the grade. He likes to focus more on current geological events so pay attention and take good notes. Nice man, good sense of humor.
If you don't get atleast a B in this class youre an idiot. he gives you in class bonus quizes (10 points towards the tests) and the tests are open book plus one page of notes. if you fail ur a dumb ass. I got an A and didn't study 5 mins. He did mumble tho.

Everyone who says he is a bad teacher just is bias because they dont like geo. He is a pretty good teacher but you have to attend class every day or you will fail. I attend class everyday and i got an A on the first test and a B on the second but with all the bonus points i have recieved i have over a 100 average.
I took this class online. I never met Dr. Bob, and I suck at Science. But, once I told him how I basically need remedial Geology, he helped me not to fail the class. C- is pretty good!
very different kind of person. the class was pretty hard, i thought i was going to get a C, but i ended up with and A. The tests are all open book and you get to have 1 piece of paper so that is good and the quizzes are usually take home. You have to take notes on what he says, not just what he writes. he tells corny jokes but he's entertaining.
Impossible to fail this class!-- open-book tests, no attendance policy, a make-up exam is given which allows you to drop the lowest. A make-up exam consists of questions from previous tests, so most students get 100 points. If you fail this class, you should withdraw from WVU. Only bad point is his unclear lectures.
Took the online class; the grade was based on open book tests without time limit. The questions were worded in a way that required you to understand what you were writing though, so I learned a lot.
Went to about 6 classes all together, ended up with a B+. Open notes for every test except the one before the final (it's a test on 11 questions from the previous three and deletes lowest grade which I got a 100 on). The class is just so boring so I couldn't sit through it. Easy A/B though.
I took his online class it was very hard. All we had were these exremely had exams that I couldn't even find half of the answers to on the internet. It would take him forever to respond to an email. He would be late sending out the exams.

Class was pointless and boring. He rambled on and on about current events. Tests were open book/open note but the book didnt help a whole lot. Use his emails as your cheat sheet that he allows, a lot of test answers were on there. Class was not organized and confusing IMO, I would not take Dr. Bob again
This class was very dull, but it should boost your GPA.
All he does is talk and talk and talk.... then he will give an open book (not helpful at all) 1 page cheat sheet (some what helpful). This class is stupid and the way its being taught is as well..... DONT TAKE IIT!
Rambles on a lot about stuff. Book isn't at all helpful. I didn't study or anything and ended up with a C in the class. I also took the lab and got a A in it. Dr. Bob is a nice guy though and very funny especially when the football players would turn the lights off in class and Dr. Bob would go crazy about it.
Dr. Bob's class is good for nonscience majors like myself. Not terribly complicated or difficult material. Found myself dozing several times, material/lecture can be dry. He offers extra credit/a makeup test. I would not buy the textbook, instead I used the internet to clarify his lectures. No excuse not to get at least a B in this class
Dr. Bob is pretty cool and useful. I found his lectures interesting and he talks about current events a fair amount. Open notes/open book test. If you go in and ask him questions about the study guide he will help you alot. God Bless Dr. Bob.

Dr. Bob is awesome. Took online. Not an easy course. Have to do the work and keep up, but he offers extra credit to help with final grade. I am taking another class with him. Nice affable professor. Gifted scientist. Great for non-science majors.

I don't care for the subject of Geology, but I loved Dr. Bob! He is very intelligent and kind. He doesn't take attendance, but go to class if you want to do well. Take good notes(tests are open note!)and you should be fine. Definitely recommended, especially to non-science majors.
One of the few WVU professors that is a master in their field. Attendance not taken but you'll miss taking notes...which are essential for the test. (you get one page of notes for test; get to use textbook too) Many bonus quizzes, sends review of each class on ecampus, often entertaining even with it being Geology. If you're a good student, easy A
Dr. Bob is absolutley amazing !! You have to love this man and his red suspenders!! He is very professional and knows his stuff. The class is a real eye opener and teaches you a lot about what is going on in the world around you. He offers A LOT of bonus points which help you in the long run. He is definately an easy A ! This man is a saint !!!
You will fall asleep as soon as you start hearing him talk. He gives you plenty of chances to do good on your exams though and come to class that will help you a LOT. He also scales grades quite well. I recommend him.
Love this guy. He's like a hybrid of Santa and Ben Franklin. Anyway, his tests are less than easy, but definetly doable, as he allows you a page (front and back) on which to write notes! Great guy, but his voice puts me out like a dart in the neck.

Knows what he's talking about, but his lectures are basically stories about the subject. It can be difficult to pick out necessary information from stories about the information, and tests are lecture-based. Easy to pass the class because quizzes are entirely extra credit and tests are open book plus a cheat sheet.

Dr. Bob is the best! There is very little homework. Lots of extra credit. DO NOT MISS CLASS. Tests are open book and allow one full front and back page cheat sheat. Also, they are lecture-based.
The online class is ridiculous and way more tedious than any online OR 101 OR summer class should ever be. Grade based off tests which ask qustions you have to google that are not in the book and nearly impossible to find online. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE!!!
This professor is awful online, don't bother buying the book…you won't find your answers in there. You won't find them in his notes for class either…because there are no notes. Basically you have to search and search and search for the answers on google, only to end up spending your whole day on the test. Worst 100 level class I have ever taken!!!!
Overall nice guy, but boring. There are no notes, no study guides, and I never used the book. I found it hard to pay attention because he just stands in the front of the room and lectures and talks too fast to take notes. Try to avoid if you have a hard time focusing in class.
He is very boring and it is hard not to fall asleep in his class. Sometimes in his lecture it is hard to follow what e is saying because he uses starts side stories that don't mean anything to the class
I really liked Dr. Bob. As long as you don't miss lectures and take decent notes during his lectures, you'll do fine on the tests. All of his quizzes are extra credit and his exams are open note and you are allowed a full piece of paper, front and back, for a cheat sheet. He does go off and tell stories sometime, but he is full of knowledge!
Oh my LANTA this class was so boring, it should have been easy but I was seriously so tuned out the whole time I never was able to focus and take notes so I did terribly (C+), and I'm usually a very good student. IF you think you can manage to focus and take notes every class then you should be fine but class and note taking is necessary.
As long as you pay attention and take notes on things he says you are fine. Even if you bomb a test there is a "make-up" test (questions from all three previous ones) to replace the one you failed. Very easy class, you just have to go every lecture or you miss a huge chunk of important things. Boring but Easy.
Although it can be an interesting class, Dr. Behling talks about world news associated with geo-science almost exclusively. It doesn't often relate to the course material at all. It is hard to make yourself go to class at times because it won’t affect your grade. However, you need to attend class because he places 6 news related questions on exams.
This class is a struggle to stay awake in!! He stands up and lectures the entire class with no power points. It is very hard to take notes. Also, there are no opportunities to ask questions during class. Attendance is not mandatory, but the majority of his tests are lectured based and are somewhat difficult, even though they are open book.

I took this class as a blow off class and almost did not graduate because of it. One thing I can say, go to class. There are bonus quizzes you NEED points for. Also, as hard as it may be LISTEN to him. Anything he says more than once WILL be a question on the test. He takes up all the time he has talking but do not leave b/c you'll miss the quiz.
Although his class was difficult to pay attention to sometimes, I very much like this professor. He is one of my favorites, and I enjoyed that he felt the need to keep us informed every class with current events.
This professor is absolutely adorable and is so enthusiastic about this subject. However, his lectures are pretty long and can sometimes be hard to keep up with. I never missed a class, took good notes, and but still did not do so well because I was unable to purchase the book. Make sure you get the book! Tests are all open note and textbook.
The single worst professor I have taken. I am a very good student and have gone well I'm difficult classes. That being said this was the hardest class because he only lectures on news topics. The hardest most random exam ever the class averages were normally mid 60s.

Robert Behling was an absolutely fabulous person, and I have not one bad thing to say about him in that aspect. On the other hand, he does not understand that most of the stuff he talks about during lecture goes in one ear and out the other if you do not pay attention. Tests are extremely difficult, but he gives a make-up test that is super easy.
The online class is hard He assigns a book and gives lecture notes. None of it goes along with the exam The exams are the ONLY things he grades. He does not provide feedback on the exams or mark the wrong ones. He words the questions in such a weird way that my GEO major friend couldn't understand what he was asking. Google barely helps. DONT TAKE!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH DR BOB!!!!!!!! Im a senior and his 101 class is the hardest class I've ever taken(even with open book test). I went to class regularly and still struggled. Its really difficult to pay attention in class because he doesn't use a powerpoint. I resulted to a tutor to help me understand what was happening
I am a senior and this is by far the hardest online class that I have taken. He requires a book and gives you notes but you cannot find the information for the exam. I have had to use google for every exam and it takes me approximately 5 hours to complete ONE exam! It is like he expects all of this to be common sense, will never recommend him

Dr. Bob is such an amazing guy! He was my favorite professor. His class was had to stay awake in, he lectured the whole time. But if you paid attention youd do alright on the test. GET THE BOOK, all test are open book and their really difficult.

Dr. Bob lets you use a "cheat sheet" on tests as well as your book. The pop quizzes are fairly easy, you can even talk to the people around you.
Dr. Bob is a pretty good professor. He knows the subject extremely well and can communicate it in an effective way, which allows him to be able to explain the subject matter to his students pretty clearly. Attendance is not exactly mandatory, but he does give out arbitrary quizzes (though those quizzes are solely for bonus points).

His tests are extremely hard EVEN with a cheat sheet and textbook. And You can't really hear his voice! It's like he's only speaking to the front row. The pop quizzes are great. Gives makeup exam which is the best part because the questions in it are only from the previous exams. Will give you a hard time replying to your emails though.
I took this class in the summer, and it was only 3 weeks long. I definitely recommend that if you need to take this class, as I don't know if I could stand it for a whole semester. However, it's the easiest A if you just show up and pay attention. Sit up front if you can so you can hear him and see his handwriting on the board.
Can really tell he cares for his job. However, it's hard to hear him, his handwriting is really hard to read and he jumbles around too much when teaching content. Easy class to fall asleep in.

Really great guy and very educated but it is terribly hard to follow him or learn anything from him for that matter. Extra credit pop quizzes given often but they are not easy. Nothing in class is verbatim.
If you want to take Geology, and have a nice view at the same time, take Robert Behling. Easy as can be. No homework, no attendance, open book and cheat sheet allowed exams, and lots of bonus points available through in class quizzes. Take him if you want to put in little effort, have some fun, and get an A.
