easiest teacher i've ever had
Hell of a nice guy! Explains things very well. Very easy! Just pay attention and show up.
Bob, yes I said Bob, is really cool I love his class he is funny as hell. I also am fatuated with his nipples. They just perk up when it is cold in the class room.
AWESOME!
Totally annoying personality; but, he gets the class taught. The course isn't difficult, he lets you know what's on the test. No suprises.
Super easy, but I agree that his personality is not the best. This guy has mood swings like crazy! Which effects how the class is taught sometimes, but overall it is super easy.
Benavides flippin' rocks my socks :) It makes me sad that people are so rude to him and think they can get away with cheating and thinking they know all the material when they don't. I tell you what, I got a A because I turned in my labs on time, studied for the tests, did the interactive tests on the website and respected the guy grading all of i
He is very easy but has major mood swings. turn in your labs on time and come for the reveiws for the test.
real nice guy really does a lot to help you in the class and breaks the material down very easy.
Really great teacher and just a good guy. I don't remember any "mood changes" at all. He knows what he is doing and how to do it. About disrespect, I agree with that. He is a pretty soft guy and lets jerks to talk to him like you should NOT talk to your teacher. Overall, I had a great expierence in his class and would 100% recomend. Great professor
this teacher is the worst teacher Ive ever had. He is so moody and picks favorites. He tells you at the beginning of class that you don't have to go to class, but then makes your life a living hell if you miss a few classes. Would NOT recoment this teacher to anyone!
Well,I'm not that excited about him.The stuff he's "teaching" is hard for not computer freaks, but he just talks about the chapter contents in the class.I don't need to know what the chapter's about-I'll read it.Students in my class are unhappy with him, with some of them he fought already.Class is helpful only if you do 90% of the work by yourself.
I have learnt very helpful and fundamental material to be able to accomplish my goals as a better professional. All what he teaches in his classes might be seem by others as boring and with no sense, but I can tell every body that he is giving you the tools that you will need in the real world as a computer scientist to succeed.
Professor Bevavides is nice, very funny and a great teacher. His tests are not hard, but he is very strict about homework deadlines.
He is extremely hard. I had to study more than my calculus class and still made a C. He will make your student life very hard. Each of his Labs take 12 hours. If you’re planning to transfer for a good University, do not take his class. He will affect your future dramatically.
he is the sweetest guy ever and extremely easy. u dont even have to go to class and one class before the exam he gives an excellent review of the test. i never went to class except 4 those reviews and to hand out the labs and i made a 90 something :)
I highly recommend this professor. Great guy, a little nerdy, but easy-going and somewhat funny and entertaining. Do the easy labs and show up for the review, when he will give you everything on the test, and you will get an A. Just don't bring food to class, it seems to be the only thing that will irritate him.
This class was a blow off. I went to all the classes but you only need to show up for the reviews, he gives you all the questions. Most labs take on an average 4 hours each. If you fail it is because you didn't do your labs and show up for the reviews. You only use the computer concept book for the test once you have the review.EASY!!
Good guy, but hard class. exams are hard.. overall the class is easy, but what does it matter when the exams are difficult.. i would pick another teacher.. he is a good person, but we need A's not friends!
I liked him. You have to do the labs which do take a little time, but he's always there to help you, and usually makes things as easy as possible. If you have to take this class go with this guy.
Great Professor, He gives all the material and samples needed it for labs. Study guides are really helpful. If you do the labs, attend class, and follow his study guide, you will do fine.
He expects you to turn things in when by the due date and text books are a must, but that's about it. Attendance is not mandatory or necessary. Just study the book pages he lists on his website and the tests are cake. Labs are simple and quick, just turn them in on time. He does everything he can to make class easy and the materials accessible.
This teacher really knows what he is talking about. Curriculum is not that interesting, but the teacher is pretty funnny. Attendence optional. If you want an A go to class otherwise no need.
He is an awesome technology freak. Classes are optional, just make sure to turn in labs(which are easy if you know what you are doing)Tests are a little tricky, but just remember to study. Most information is online, so there is no need to really attend all the time. He is pretty cool and loves what he teaches.
The best thing about him is, class is optional. If you know what you are doing, you only have to come to class when labs are due. There are only 2 tests, the midterm and final. If you turn in a lab late, its 20 points off no exception. He is kind of strict, if you have a problem with following directions or authority; then do not take him.
I found Mr. Benevidas exteremly boring. He was a good teacher, and made it easy to get an A, but interesting? Not at all. It could be that I am not a computer person, but he didnt change my attitude towards computer science. The nice thing was that he had lots of extra credit which was great.
If you're not into computers than you will probably find this class extremely boring. The professor loves computers but he doesn't get his students excited at all. He is a little creepy and sometimes forgets his English. You do need your book but you do not need to show up for class. If you know what you're doing you can do your work at home.
I learned a lot in this class and attendance is very mandatory. But you should attend class isn't that why you sign up in the first place to learn of course. BUT he is a great Professor and he wants you to succeed. So put forth effort guys. :~) We used both books by the way. The huge tablet one, the very thin XPbook and the medium technology book.
Took his MW classes. You only need to go on Wednesdays. If you go to Monday classes you will kill yourself of bordom. But overall hes a pretty good treacher. His tests are online open book but they are still hard. I expected an A but got a B in the class.
I had intro to .net programming and found his method of teaching extremely boring and condescending. I found myself skipping class because 3 hours of hearing him ramble on about crap was difficult. I was still able to make a B in the class but if I applied myself more I am sure I could have pulled off an A. The assignments were very time consuming and required all eight cylinders firing at a high RPM to accomplish. I was able to make 100% on each assignment but the exams pulled down my grade
Easiest teacher I've ever had. Honestly, I went to class no more than 7 times and ended up with an A. Labs are not hard and tests are a breeze as long as you go to the reviews because he tells you EXACTLY what is on them. Would definitely recommend taking this teacher.
Takes this blow off class WAY too seriously. No make up if you miss an assignment and no extra credit. BTW, RMP will start to lose traffic if you keep censoring us and our opinions I didn't know it was against you policy to say that someone is snotty. Get a life. I sure hope this crippling flaw won't give a competitor an edge on you guys...
class is not mandatory and labs are easy. there are 2 open book tests and you can take it for 2 hrs! Grades go by the 2 tests and 5 lab thingy. labs are very timeconsuming but its so easy.***this class is an easy A
Started out thinking he was a good teacher, sometimes funny, but noticed a condescending approach. Class is easy, but expect to be treated like you're stupid if you ask questions, which should not be a part of the curriculum. If this happens, do not bother defending yourself, this man has no people-skills. He will just insult you again.
Absolutely loved this class and Professor! The expectations are laid out clearly and the labs are fun (yes, time consuming too). He is funny and considerate. I can't wait to take another class of his!
THIS PROFESSOR GRADES HARD AND CAN BE DIFFICULT HE SEEMS TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH STUDENTS WHO HAVE VISUAL AND OTHER DIFFICULTIES. DON'T TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU WANT A HEADACHE ALL SEMESTER!!! HE CAN SOMETIMES MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR A CHILD WHEN ASKING HIM A QUESTION
This class is so well organized! I took it online and loved that I could get done with the assignments before the due date. He gives you practice tests for all of the exams (it's smart to take these as many times as you can.) I wish I could have this professor for more of my classes.
Seems difficult at first but a very nice teacher. He will grow on you. Fairly easy class.
I took for Summer II ----he seemed very hard & not very flexible at first but the class was not bad everything due at the end of the wk..4 microsoft labs & online discussions...I don't think he is flexible on deadlines but gives plenty of time & very fair grader--lets u take multiple attempts on Exams &responds fast to emails! Have to have a book!
Very informative class... Professor Robert Benavides is very helpful if you ever are in need! Thank you for such a wonderful class!
This professor cares about you and your grades. You will work and earn your grades.
One of the worst teachers I have had. Kept telling student's to change their majors because computer programming doesn't make money.I never went to class because attendance isn't required and instructions are online. He doesn't teach anything, just the same stupid stories.Take the department head instead. Class Average: 64. Final Average: 46.
The course is outlined well in the syllabus. The tests are all online and can be taken over to improve your grade. The first half of class was lecture and the second was lab work. He is a fun teacher and an easy A.
Class was remedial for a programmer looking for a degree. I was not able to learn anything throughout the class. That being said, if you are new to programming then you will find his class teaches you the basics well enough. Grades were the least harsh I have seen so far. An easy A.
Easy A. if any help he will respond to emails very quickly.
This was by far the easiest class I have ever taken. The only "lecture" portion of the class we had to do were 3 tests & r allowed to do as many times as u want till u get the grade u want & 4 discussion posts. (1 per month) The assignments r (1) Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Access lab- that u have to have the book for. I made a 100 in class
The class was really easy (4 tests and 7 labs). He helped a lot with the labs. The lectures were boooring though.
This teacher is EXTREMELY rude and makes you feel stupid for asking a simple question. It does not seem like he cares about his students or atleast that's how I felt in his class. He leaves really harsh critiques on assignments and flat out told me my work was horrible. Lacks people skills, could be a lot nicer to his students it would go a long wa
The professor gives a heads up of what assignments (with full instructions) he's gonna give way before the semester begins. If you complete them before the class starts, then the rest of the semester will be a breeze for you! You can retake the exams multiple times! All the best, & in the words of Prof. Rob Benavides, "have an exception free day"!
Absolutely no make ups unless your family member died. I had my backpack stolen. Got a police report and all, still wouldn't let me remake a lab. "Give me a break" was his reason for anything and everything. He expects you to understand instantly, if you don't be ready to made fun of. He wastes a lot of time during lectures complaining.
He is an "NO EXCUSE" type of dude and I like that. People forget we are in college and no one cares about your excuses. He's constantly reminding you about your assignments. Everything is beyond detailed. He is definitely a smart man. He's REAL hardcore so READ, USE the videos provided & whatever knowledge you have before you ask him a question.
He is a good professor. His grading criteria is pretty clear as well. Not a very hard grader. Does not like stay long after class. Lectures are boooring. He tries to be funny but could hardly make you laugh. There are 7 labs and 4 test in the entire semester and he does most of the labs with you. Interesting class at beginning but boring at the en
This class is an easy A, but don't expect to learn much. He holds your hand through the more challenging labs without having you come up with any of it on your own. Tests are taken at home and you can keep retaking them until you get the grade you want. Lectures are long and boring. This class didn't prepare me at all for java ii.
So the beginning I didn't know anything about java and really didn't learn anything from him. The book helped a lot though and was kinda goofy which made it fun. Lectures consist of the first 30 minutes of him trying out stand up comedy then some basic information. Questions that are not part of the class will go unanswered. Thanks you-tube.
He tries to be funny, but really never is and its just awkward. If you can read the book, and understand the first couple of homework assignments, you honestly don't need to show up for the lectures. I only showed up for 3 and made an A. He is a good instructor if you don't understand the code though. Tests are straight out of the book and online.
He tries a little too hard to be relevant with the class, he's okay as a professor. He tends to go the opposite of what programming teachers would encourage and wants you to code his way or he'll deduct points on your labs. He is VERY cocky and begins class with existential talk or will try to discourage you from becoming a programmer
He is a really funny teacher. He can sometimes joke with students. There are four labs and four tests including the final. He helps during the labs in the class and may do some type-in so if you are not there, you may have to do it on your own. Be sure of watching the videos he posts for better understanding of the subject. Very fair and easy clas
I liked him. He's more my age, so I got his sarcastic humor. While other students in the class grimaced and seemed to run to their safe space, I just laughed along with him. I'd have to say, though, that the assignments were too easy, but this was an intro class. I'd take a class with him again. Totally.
Prof. Benavides is a great teacher at Collin College! His lectures are full of knowledge and experience that he is more than willing to share with his students! The homework and exams were fairly easy at my skill level, but I still learned a lot concerning the material being taught. I would definitely take this professor again if given the choice.
He's a great guy and his class is not hard. Just show up do your labs and you are good
If you can ignore the corny jokes and inappropriate comments youll be fine. He gives you so many resources he pretty much spoon feeds you the information. He can be snarky at times but overall he gives it to you straight. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. Do that and yourre guaranteed an A.
He tries to discourage you from becoming a programmer. On the first day we all said what we were majoring in and he degraded so many people and told them they were taking the wrong route and that they would not successful. 3 people ended up walking out of class that day and he told them not to come back. Would not take him again, ever.
He's a great guy, I've taken both his intro to programming and html class. EVERYTHING you need to know to make an A+ in his class is in the Syllabus. No surprise quizzes or test. Make sure you get a copy or PDF of the book he ask for. Other then that do the labs and tests and you should be good.
Benavides is old school. He lays out everything in the syllabus (labs, exams, etc) so just follow that, and you should get an A. Labs are based off the book chapters, and are fairly straightforward (come to class for help). I think his rudeness is mistaken for being super blunt and sarcastic; he means well, but his methods can cause frustration.
I really liked how clear grading criteria and due dates were. Everything was straight forward and no surprises. You definitely need a textbook for the Web Programming classes, so get it as soon as possible. More importantly, this professor cared enough to share Career Coaching information and job listings throughout the semester. Highly recommend!
Best professor, and really organized. Follow his instructions and you will pass the class. Communication is excellent.
the course has a bunch of busy work imo. the prof clearly states what he expects and gives you multiple chances to make an A. hes also really good at responding to emails its almost like he sits in fron of the computer most of the day lol... not saying this class is an easy A but if you do the work you shouldnt struggel.
Turn everything in on time, get an A! You can begin early in the semester to have a lighter workload at end of semester. Best Wintermester class I have taken!
Best professor, and really organized. Everything was straight forward and no surprises. Professor want everyone doing good in his class. Follow his instructions and you will pass the class.
Professor Benavides is alright but he could be a bit more caring. On the first day of class he was like "Some of you guys are in the wrong major and you will fail this class. You should just give up and do something else with your life" What a good way to motivate us am I right? He seems to get irritated when you ask him for help.
Great Professor, if you do the work you will pass. Gives you many opportunities to raise your grade as long as you apply yourself! I took his online Spring course and would definitely look to take him again.
Mr. Benavides is an awesome professor because he teaches you how to do the assignnment and is very helpful. He helps us with homework when we need it. I would take him again.
This class was pretty easy, as long as you DID YOUR WORK. Also, do not wait till the last minute to do your assignments. The assignment is pretty easy, but it is very time consuming. As long as you do your work, you should get an easy A.
This class is super easy. I took the express class online. There are 4 discussions (total), 4 exams (total), and two labs due each week. Just do your work and its an easy A. Professor Benavides communicates super quick too. So if you're confused on anything he's always there to help.
Best teacher. I took him for an online class and he was always so helpful and wants you to pass. He drops the lowest discussion and lab grade. You have something due every Saturday and there are only about 4 discussions throughout the semseter and about 4 online test. Highley recommend him.
Prof. Benavides is quite a ruthless teacher at times. If you have any complaints or problems with the class or with him then you will fail. He simply gives out labs and expects you to learn the materials on your own. He goes off on hour long tangents on how kids these days are lazy and make for awful employees. Do not expect to learn anything!
Dr. Robert Benavides is an honorable and an extraordinarily awesome professor. His teaching is top notch undoubtedly. He is pretty chill and friendly. He will answer emails real fast and communicates very well with students. Above all, he is very much helpful and understanding. Take his course people. You will succeed for sure.
You either love this professor or you can't stand him. His lectures go off topic and if you ask a question or are confused, he has a way of making you feel dumb for not understanding. The material is hard to understand but the textbook required is more helpful than Prof B. If you want an A, take this class. If you want to be a programmer, don't.
I asked for an extension on the final exam that was unlocked for 2 days and he would not give it to me ended up making a D in the class after sustaining an A the entire semester.
Easy A, because he does 80% of the assignments for you. I learned very little and little was retained--and I know how to code Java, C++, C#, TSQL +5 Often laughs at how he's such a "geek" and such a "programmer", in a way that implies "I'm so much better than you all." Long, excessively repetitive lectures, but at least you can 2x them. Not bad.
Very rude person. Has a superior attitude and not that knowledgeable. Always putting down students as lazy .. etc. He doesn't seem to like teaching or students. He seems to strain with English. Always attempts to be a wise guy with students. Definitely stay away and take with someone else.
watch the lectures if you can, if not the prof gives out the textbook for free, AND a guide to learning 3 languages. The material is often a better way to learn than the lectures, and the assignments are easy. If you want to learn, get the materials from this class and study. The documents he provides are fantastic. You CAN learn a lot, or skim by.
He explains the material very little in his "lecture videos" and simply glosses over the chapters. Then he copy and paste other people's videos for you to learn. Might as well just buy the book and youtube search each chapter. He also could not have made the class any more uninteresting.
This was a very easy A. He provided videos on how to do every single assignment. All you have to do is copy them exactly and you'll get a 100. I did learn some in this class, not as much as I would've if it were harder, but I don't mind since I'm not a CS major. If you are CS, I'd take someone else though.
I have had this professor for two different classes now and he's been great for both! Gives you enough work to do, but nothing overwhelming. He's great at giving feedback. Awesome professor, I certainly would recommend him to anyone in need of a class he offers.
He claimed his class to be simple, and workload-wise, it is simple. But if you have experience with Python and want to be creative in your programming, stay away from this class. He gave me a straight 0 just for improvising my code with concepts I already learned. When I asked for more specific feedback, he refused to help as if I was dumb. Avoid!
I really like Benavides. His teaching style is straight up and he explains well. he has a high level of expertise. he is far superior to the Vulcan. I highly recommend him for any course.
Benavides is 1 of the Best at Collin. Certainly better than the start trek lady. He keeps the class light and consistent. explains concepts and encourages students to succeed. He enjoys useful discourse with students. Go with best and take him - you'll be glad you did.
He is VERY specific in the way that you do your assignments. However, he provides tutorials, and if you follow them, you will get a 100 in every assignment.
I took this class online during the Maymester. He literally just wants you to get an A (which is amazing) he is very detailed, and the labs you have to complete step by step to get a 90 or higher. Take this online class if you want an easy A. The labs are really time consuming, but if you prioritize it, you will be fine.
While he is a good professor I believe he's setting his students up for failure. He gives a step by step video for every assignment that he expects you to watch so you end up not really needing to know how to code because he's already given you the answer which is great if you already know what you're doing but awful if you're just starting out.
The professor provides detailed assignment tutorials. Though strict, they are very helpful if followed closely. Unstuckstudy and the free textbook are great study aids. Overall, a solid class if you put in the work.
This is an easy A class. There's lots of work but its mostly straightforward and easy. He is very clear about deadlines but every assignment is posted and open (work ahead if you want). I never needed help but am sure he'd have been very helpful if I needed it. Caring guy. Mostly just the basics of word, excell, pwrpnt, and access.
