Okay,so this guy isn't the most orgnized in his speeches, but his class IS easy. If you can get passed his Dangerfield comedy act, you guys have no sense of humor, then he's bearable. However, take the course only if you enjoy lit.

If you're intelligent and well-read, you'll get a lot more out of Prof. Benham's classes. The man is well-versed and smart. He doesn't have a lot of time for stupid people, though, so if you're looking through the "easiness" section...probably best to turn back now. A superb mind.

Knows what he is teaching. But make sure you come to class. He may talk tough at the beginning but don't panick he's not. Goes over the edge when he talks about things other than class. He talks plenty about himself and Sundstrand.

I can't say enough bad things about this man! All he does for the enitre hour is talk out of his ass about how helpful he is! pointless stories go on forever and he says absolutely nothing! But if you are a BSer who finds $5 dollar words impressive this is the class for you! If not steer clear!

Mr. Benham is an extremely inteligent man. He sees into the depths of things that most people would over look. Very caring and understanding. He's also very willing to take time out of his busy schedule for you because he really cares about his students. Excellent professor and a very sweet person.

Oh my goodness this man rambles on and on. He is so easily distracted and is willing to discuss anything and I mean anything that is brought even if has nothing to do with what we are supposedly studying. I wouldn't recommend him at all for anyone who is taking Lit for lit if you want philosphical and random babble go ahead.

He likes to talk about how wonderful and how much people like him most of the time. He has been known to throw in big words, even where they do not belong. He sometimes makes up words to make himself look smarter. He is pompous, and unintelligent to boot.

He gets off subject very easily, hes very difficult to follow, and he allows the students to run the class conversation, which gets us nowhere. we are in week 6, but according to the sylabus, we are doing work that should have been done three weeks ago. its annoying as can be, the whole class is up in the air. dont get me wrong, hes a very nice person, and he talks about his life a lot, but its american lit, not his life story lit. i dont like to work, so its cool in that way, but tests are harder cuz of it

He's a really nice guy, but he talkes about his life alot. Beyond that, he has really good methods on how to write essays, character papers, *essay question answers!!!*, and research papers. The class goes along fairly slow, and everything is explained very thoroughly, so that you *get it*. Definitely recommend (but have patience with him!).

if it isnt in the book it doesnt exsist to him...he told us the first week he hates it when people talk during movies and he will tell us what is happening in a film, as if we were blind, and needed a blow by blow...also uses the same book as film history...if you have taken any video film or art class dont take benham

Mr. Benham is undoubtedly one of the most generous and caring individuals I've ever met. I will admit that it does take a little effort to understand his methodology; but once you fully grasp that his entire purpose is to get you to think for yourself, you'll walk away with enough genuine pearls of wisdom to last you a lifetime. Highly recommended.

Mr. Benham is very nice and funny (talks about Sundstrand a lot...). He tries to make the class bearable but he's also challenging. He is not too rough when it comes to grading papers, I think he understands most people are just not very good at writing but he really works so that you walk out of the class with skills you didn't have before.

His class was kind of interesting, but mainly it was just a bore fest. Old American literature is so dry. Oh, and "apparently" he was once part of the band America. He sounds a lot like Mel Brooks when he speaks, so I'm sure he wasn't going to be singing in the band... Oh, and take his class.

mr benham is the worst teacher i have ever had. the only "pearls of wisdom" he has to offer are his repeatative stories about how he knows aiden quinn,NO ONE CARES! i expected to read books and watch the corresponding movie, but instead we watched benhams favorite movies, and were allowed to cheat on the final,what a horrible excuse for a teacher!

He is a very rude person. He likes to talk a lot about himself. I believe he knows a lot about English and writing but, he doesn't need to tell us how great he is. I think he is very nice to many, but he seems to treat some better that others. I believe that his job is to teach english in a non bias way, and that is it.

Mr. Benham's class is not for you if you plan to skip by, this class means business. His techniques are amazing, but its tough work. I think this class was rushed, because we did not stay on schedule. Although his class is hard, it is worth the time and you WILL be a better writer in the end.

I took him for 101 and 103 and he was amazing. One of my all time favorite teachers he takes the time to help no matter what your question he will find a way to answer where you can understand it. He takes time to teach in a fun manner and I highly recommend him.

This class is easy for the most part. The papers are pretty simple. The class is usually pretty boring and he takes points off everyday you miss. He constantly is going off topic and talking about other things outside of English but in a way trying to make it relate. He grades pretty well. Take Benham!!

Also, I'm the type of guy that needs to talk to someone to get the ideas rolling for an English pape and he was there for me all the way. I took this professor for both English 101 & 103 and recieved B's for both classes. As far as I'm concerned, I would not recommend this teacher. His lectures are so boring & he repeats himselve constantly. You write about 3-4 papers for the entire semester, but I would rather write 100 papers than listen to his off-subject rambling. Spare yourself.

Mr. Benham taught me more about english grammar and literature then I have ever comprehended prior to college. Everything my previous junior high and high school teachers attempted to teach me; he taught me in one semester. Wonderful insight on literature and life in general. I will say that I am no English major or anything close.

Benham is good. Compared to the other trivial, somehow still working, discriminatory professors at RVC, Benham will take the time to teach your how to write and critically analyze literature. You will write and think on new levels. Dr. KCL made us adhere to some Greek system that restricted critical thinking. Benham brought our critical skills.

Mr. Benham is a great teacher, regardless if he re-tells stories. He printed out helpful information that I now use in other classes. Those that didn't like his class were very young and it wouldn't have mattered what teacher they had.

Overall a good English professor. He does tend to ramble off topic and tell stories, but they help to keep class interesting. Assignments are easy, most of which are graded for completion. Papers are short and are few and far between (My class wrote three of them 2-3 pages each) Would recommend him to anyone who needs to take English 101.

I am an older student returning to college after many years in the work force. I found Professor Benham's online class moderately easy, but interesting. His online structure was easy to follow. Trying to do "group work" online was extremely difficult and probably the only negative of the class. I would recommend.

Poor, poor quality. This teacher will ramble on for YEARS about his accomplishments. He told the same stories and bragged about how amazing of a person he was. He tells jokes that are awful. And loves to talk about how amazing his children are too. I would NEVER take a class with him again. He drove me crazy.

I liked the fact that he didn't assign very many papers and his handouts are very useful. However, he does ramble a lot. He also tends to have a political slant sometimes and there were times that I was offended by what he said. If you want an easy A, take this class. Just prepare yourself for a lot of talk about nothing.

I very much enjoyed being in this class. Some may say he rambles. I say everything he says has a purpose. Pay attention to what he is saying and he will bring you full circle. He is a professor who truly cares for his students and offers a wealth of information for those who seek it. I highly recommend his class.
