No reason you should make less than an A. All of the lecture notes and old exams are available. Some of the exam questions are taken directly from the old exams. Only about 1/3 of the class attends lectures regularly. I think the lectures were important, a little boring but important.

He is not a bad teacher but not an easy one either. He will go over powerpoints pretty fast and he doesn't post them online so even tho attendance is not mandatory, if u want to learn the stuff from his lecture, you'd probably wanna attend his lectures. His test questions don't ask for too much detail so reading the textbook will suffice.

He makes lectures interesting by telling stories, but can also be sometimes distracting. If you study old exams and understand how the questions are asked, you will be better off. If you only review the powerpoints, you need to know the material extensively and situational use. Tests are the only grades- tough. He does offer an extra exam to drop.

Dr. Benjamin goes off on A LOT of tangents and side stories, which really takes away from lecture. This is just something you'll have to deal with in all of Benjamin's classes. I recommend just going over the lecture PowerPoints especially if you are cramming. Refer to the book to go more in depth of concepts. Exams are pretty straightforward.
