Easiest math class i have ever taken before!! Also my favorite teacher!
Great guy and does everything he can to make sure you do well on tests/quizzes. Made class alot better than I was expecting.
BEST PROF EVER!!! TAKE HIM..GUARANTEE THIS WILL BE YOUR BEST MATH EXPERIENCE!!!
Nice guy, willing to help if he can. He does not make using the book mandatory, however i would suggest do as many practice problems as possible because he is sometimes unclear. If the material makes sense to you the tests are almost to easy. Does not enforce respect like he should that was disappointing but that circles back to the nice guy part.
Really easy class. Very nice teacher, but is pushed over too much.
Great Teacher. Really Nice and will help you with anything you have questions on. Content is pretty easy to pick up as well. His tests are just like his practice tests so if you understand those then you will be golden for the class.
I took both Math 109 and 111 with Mr.Berg. His lectures are hard to understand at times because he goes through the problems very fast and doesn't stop for note taking.. However Mr. Berg is extremely nice and goes out of his way to help you succeed. His classes all and all are an easy A if you put effort into them. Great guy, Take this class!!
This class was very easy. Also, his lectures are insanely boring . He really doesn't make the class interesting.
Mr.Berg is a great guy, would go out of his way to help any student and will curve grades up. I worked my schedual to take him for 109
Lectures are very boring, but it's math what do you expect. The work load is appropriate and he always prepared us well for his tests. He is always willing to help and wants you to succeed in his class, but I suggest frequent attendance. Tells some goofy stories and is a really nice guy!
He's simply awesome. I was terrified to take Calc but he makes it so straight forward and simple that I actually get what he's saying. While he doesn't assign hw from book , there are WS, online hw, and quizzes weekly. The hw is harder than the quizzes or tests - I was shocked I got an A on my first exam! I love that he doesn't try to be tricky.
I love him!!! Best math class I have taken. I should have taken all my maths with him. He: drops lowest scores on homework and quizzes, curves test grades, makes tests easy and allows you to use a note sheet, and is just generally laid back and nice and fun. He gets that some people are not math people. Definitely take him!!
Prof Berg is one of a kind. Took me a while to get used to his personality and awkward teaching style but once you do you will love him. His quirky jokes keep class moving and he knows how to teach math in a way that you will understand.
Professor Berg is really nice but not the best teacher. However, if you come to every class, ask questions (in and outside of class), and do all the assigned practice, you will do fine. Unfortunately, he's fairly boring to listen to but class is almost always shorter than 50 minutes, so it's worth it.
Dr. Berg was one of the most kind math professors I have ever had. He will always email you back with a helpful explanation to any homework question you are confused about. I never did the practice homework out of the textbook and found that the tests were still easy. He even drops your two lowest quiz scores and webwork scores.
Professor Berg is a great guy and tries to be the best teacher he can be. He often makes mistakes on the board, but he teaches well. Class is never 50 min long, quizzes are short, tests are easy. I recommend taking him if you can.
Kind of a goofy guy but great professor will help you with what ever you need. He often finishes lectures 10-15 minutes early. Lectures are pretty boring but its math class what do you expect. Show up and pay attention and you'll get a good grade
I was skeptical of him on the first couple days but I quickly realized that he is one of my absolute favorite teachers. He truly cares about making sure you succeed and does absolutely everything he can to do that. He is always available for help and is very inviting. He makes math class bearable.
Grading scale is very easy, if you show up to class and do the assignments you will pass.
Berg is the man, I have always struggled with math, and the phrase "calculus" just scared me. I am doing very well in the course, because Berg explains things so well.
Berg is so sweet. He told us that he used to struggle in school so he really empathizes with students and wants them to succeed. He explains things very thoroughly and even if you don't understand something you can ask him and he will explain it to you until you completely understand. Take Berg if you have the chance!
Professor Berg is awesome! He will literally do anything to help you pass, I emailed him and he let us move back our EXAM! He also is super nice, he offers awesome curves easy points, I promise this class is an easy A with Berg. students other teachers and were struggling for a B while i was breezing through this class because he is so good!
Berg is an awesome professor, he is a little goofy, but you get a cheat sheet on the exams and they are just like the review packets. I got A's on every exam! He is a super nice guy and always willing to help.
This class is easy plain and simple. Berg sets up the class for you to do good. Hardly did anything and got an A. Pesky webworks can take awhile sometimes but other than that you can use a notecard on tests and quizzes he goes over right before the actual quiz. Very nice guy, but lectures can be boring sometimes.
He is an awesome guy who is willing to help help anyone. Would 100% recommend this professor to anyone.
Probably the most caring professor I've taken at UWEC. Berg is the man and will do whatever it takes to help you pass. He is very clear during class about whats going on and is always open to questions. Best math teacher I've ever had and one of the best teachers I've ever had period. Go to class, do the homework, and you will pass with ease.
Mr. Berg is easily the best professor I've had. He is such a great guy and is always looking out for you. At first he may come off as awkward but that is just the way he is and it's what makes his class one of the best. I would highly recommend Mr. Berg.
Professor Berg is AWESOME. He is by far the best math teacher that I have had and I would definitely recommend taking his class. Homework is all online and he usually gives 2+ days to complete. He creates a review packet for every test and the review is identical to the test. Also gives you a full page cheat sheet to use on the test. Easy A.
Professor Berg is the best. The homework assignments are all online and can be redone until you get the question right. He replies to emails fast and is always willing to help. His tests are fairly simple, you get to use a piece of paper as a cheat sheet for each one. He sincerely wants you to do well in his class.
The class was alright. He's good at teaching. I would recommend him for students.
The sweetest guy you'll meet. Show up to class and you will be just fine!
Berg is a great teacher and wants his students to succeed. If you are struggling go to his office hours and he will help you pass!
Dr. Berg is such a nice guy! He seems to like to make jokes even though not everyone laughs. His lectures are understandable and he is always willing to answer questions. Homework is online with unlimited tries which is super nice. He really wants you to succeed and always offers to work with you so you do well and pass the class.
Professor Berg is a really nice guy and extremely understanding. He gives a lot of opportunities to raise your grade because he really wants you to succeed. If you do the homework and pay attention in class you shouldn't have any problems in the class.
By far the best professor that I have had! He cares a lot about his students and wants everyone to pass with a good grade. The way he teaches makes learning so easy! The tests were a breeze and there are few extra credit opportunities. If you ever need to meet with him outside of class I have never had a problem. He is willing to help whenever.
Berg is the best, super nice guy. He is very clear about the topics and what he's looking for as long as you put in a little bit of effort and do the webwork you will get a good grade.
He is very caring and is really helpful if you meet him outside of class and he's very willing to help! The homework was kind of difficult and graded online and there was a quiz mostly every friday. Class involves a lot of note-taking and he goes through the notes kind of fast but he's an overall good professor
Best professor ever! He made sure we all did well in his class, and really cared about each and every student. His class was a breeze and he gave you a full piece of paper as a cheat sheet for every exam. His notes were super straight forward with unlimited attempts on the online homework. Super easy to get in contact with too, 100% recommend!
Very passionate professor who wants to help students in any way possible. Would highly recommend.
Best professor I have had
He actually cares about his students and takes time at the beginning of every lecture to answer questions on the homework. He tells you exactly what you need to know for exams and they are fairly easy.
Berg is seriously the nicest guy ever. You have small webwork assignments but they are unlimited tries. Tests are so easy. He gives you two reviews before that are exactly what is on the test. He's very easy to work with and very understanding. Take him!!!!
Berg was always willing to help students outside of class. There was no student participation in class so it got boring. Quizzes were easy, tests were relatively easy. I
I took Berg because I'm a senior and wanted to get a good professor in order to graduate.. he is genuine and very nice but all in all a terrible professor! He doesn't explain anything during class. You need to be math smart to understand anything!! I'm terrible at math and he is not teaching me anything. Take any other professor but Berg!
Professor Berg is easily the most accessible professor I've ever had. Along with 2 office hours a day, he generally stays a few hours past the time professors are required to stay on campus. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities, and gives your cheat sheets before every exam that are almost identical to the exams.
Great Professor. Very big note taking in class but all notes are downloaded online. Webwork hw is the most difficult thing you'll have and you get cheat sheets for exams. Hands out extra credit for showing up to class and doing extra webwork hw. Very accessible outside of class. Put in the work and time and you will be fine. Very sweet professor.
Great guy! Math 109 was easy with him. Tells you problems that you will need to know for exams or quizzes, practically gives you the exam questions in class. Gives out extra credit for random things like participation or doing full list of problems on WebWork. He is socially awkward, but most caring guy you could know. Always available for help.
He is an awesome teacher and super nice guy. He does a great job showing how to do problems that will be on the homework, quizzes, and exam. He is quirky but always makes the class laugh. There's a textbook for extra review, but you don't need to use it.
This has been the only time I've understood and done well in math. Overall an amazing teacher and I am desperately looking at other math classes that he teaches. He is always looking to give any extra credit, and he always curves the tests. He really cares about his students, and wants all of them to pass.
Berg is my favorite professor. The homework is difficult, but he gives students a long time to do it, and answers any questions you have about it. The average grade in this section is 95%. He is so kind and so easy to get ahold of if you aren't understanding something. I wish he would teach more math classes here!
Professor Berg is AMAZING. Seriously. He cares about his students and he genuinely wants all of his students to pass. When he was a student he failed a lot of classes so he fully understands the difficulty and he will work with you to succeed. He always has the grade book updated within 2-3 days after the assignment is turned in.
Professor Berg is the nicest teacher I've ever had. I would definitely recommend taking him for Math 109 if you aren't a math major. His class is extremely helpful and he also gives out study guides for tests. Quizzes are pretty easy and tests are easy if you pay attention. I never enjoyed math very much but I loved his class.
Here's how to pass: show up to class. Do the online homework when it's assigned, it takes 15 minutes, he posts his notes online right after class. Quizzes are announced and on Friday's usually. He does a lot of review for exams. He doesn't really teach though, so prepare to do that yourself. Also, the textbook is only needed for extra practice.
Math is clearly not my forte, but this professor was articulate and able to educate on a conceptual level very challenging calculus material, in such a way that allowed even the most hopeless "never will I math again" student to be able to write out a definite integral by the end of the semester. Classes are low-key and generally low-stress.
Professor Berg was by far one of the nicest teachers I have ever had. He cares so much about his students and wants everyone to succeed. 100% would take a class of his again.
Dr. Berg is a bit of a weird guy but he's a very good professor and is willing to answer any question, there is a lot of homework and some section quizzes, but I was always well prepared for the exams. Attendance was 3% of our grade so it really benefits you to go to lecture.
Professor Berg is a very nice guy and is about as approachable as any professors at UWEC. He always will be happy to answer questions and he has a good amount of office hours. Calc was tough but he went over examples the entire class period and gave detailed reviews to help prepare for the test. He genuinely wants his students to succeed.
Having always struggled with Math- having Mr. Berg was a BLESSING. I took the class with Bingen my freshmen year and was unable to get the C I needed to pass- but was successful with Berg as he truly cares for his students and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure his students success. He said he struggled in college and is very understanding.
he is a nice guy but be prepared to teach yourself. I have always been decent at math but with berg I have had to try and teach myself the entire class because its hard to follow him in class, his thoughts aren't coherent all the time and doesn't really explain things well
After having a tough time in school when he was younger, Berg really does have empathy and is super helpful and caring. He knows math can be difficult and gives his all trying to help us succeed. Sometimes its hard to follow him but you can always ask questions. His quirky awkwardness is hilarious. Take Berg
He loves his mom so much and would frequently mention visiting her and making cookies together. LOVE THAT! If you're bad at math he is a must take. SUPER clear on what's on the tests. Plans out every example beforehand and posts them all online. Makes fantastic review guides. If you can do the review you'll pass no problem.
Love professor berg. I took 109 and 111 with him. If you suck at math like me hes awesome. Gives you study guides for quizzes and tests. Do the book work to secure your knowledge. Hes understanding, kind, and more than willing to help. You can get away with skipping class cuz he doesnt take attendance everyday. Easy grader!
Berg was the best. He made sure that everyone could learn and also do well in the class. His reviews helped a ton and if you were confused about anything from the homework, he would go over it in class. He is super understanding and always gives you the benefit of the doubt. 10/10 would only take Berg for 109.
This man is the definition of what a math teacher should be. He knows what he's doing, he doesn't read straight out of the textbook and just copies what the book says, he actually goes through everything and makes sure that the students understand what going on without making the student feel dumb afterward. Good sense of humor, great professor.
Quirky sense of humor. Go to office hours, communicate with him through email for help. He is always willing to help. Take notes, he also goes through questions on homework if needed. He allows one page of notes for all exams. Quizzes are usually easy. Exams can be tougher, SHOW YOUR WORK, sometimes he will give you points if you tried.
Nothing negative to say about Berg as a person. He is very sweet and generous and wants students to do their best. Answers tons of questions and is generous in grading. For me however, I don't think he was a very effective teacher. All his notes are handwritten on the projector, no worksheets, online homework. Didn't work with my learning style.
Professor Berg is super sweet professor and you can tell that he actually cares about his student. The class itself isn't too bad but you definitely have to study and do your homework.
He teaches math very well. He does not skip steps. I understood the math problems, and how he gets the answers. He is not the most interesting professor, but is it a math class. I definitely would take him again.
I would definitely recommend watching a youtube video on what you are about to learn before class. He is good at solidifying knowledge if you already sort of know what you're doing, but if it's new to you you'll be lost for sure. He is always available to help and his study guides are just like the test. Very solid i def recommend, hes a chill dude
The tests were either a hit or miss for me. two of the exams I did really good on and the other two the material was way more complex than the assignments and review given to us. He does make awesome review guides and I like that his homework assignments are online on Knewton, that could of been that the class is hybrid though.
I recently took his MATH 109 course for the summer. Considering that this was his first time doing the MATH 109 course in the summer, I say that he did a phenomenal job. If you have any questions, you can expect him to reach out to you at a good-decent rate. He is also a very nice person to talk to after class!
Best math teacher here
1. Really manageable class 2. He does mess up often through his notes 3. Prof Berg is really nice and a really good communicator 4. Overall I really recommend Berg he is a great professor and he is always there for questions
I really liked the way that Professor Berg organized the class. You have a packet for each lesson and a webwork to go along with each one. There is about 2 quizzes on average per unit and then a bigger exam at the end of the unit. He answers email pretty quickly and is always available for help. He made algebra easy to understand.
Berg is a really nice guy!! He responds to emails within minutes and gives you good material to prepare for the tests. Tests were medium difficultly but the final is what got me. He also allows one note sheet per test (not quizzes). Daily/Weekly HW but they were fairly quick to complete.
He is probably the best professor you could choose for math 109 IMO. Most of your grade is based on WebWork, which you get unlimited attempts on each problem. Also, for exams, he gives you a cheat sheet and the exams/quizzes are exactly like the reviews he gives you.
Loved Professor Berg. I passed his class with an easy A and he was a great teacher. Totally recommend him!!
I dropped this class so unbelievably fast it isn't even funny. He seems like a nice guy, BUT he doesn't actually teach anything, he more so solves problems off of his packets he hands out in silence/mumble jumble without telling you where he's getting stuff from or how to actually do the problem so you can do the homework on your own.
5-7 Quizzes | 4-6 Exams (notesheet) | Almost daily Online Webwork (manageable, unlimited attempts) assignments after each Lecture Sometimes lets you out early after lectures and extends due dates Not great at describing concepts in multiple ways, use the (free) MathLab for additional help. Book is not necessary, just for personal practice
Easy class, gave a few of us extra credit once for coming to class. If you pay attention and do the homework the tests are easy. His tests are exactly what the practice tests are like. Chill professor.
Most caring professor I've had. Super understanding if you need to make up a quiz. Homework is an easy 100%. Quizzes and exams are exactly the same as the practice quizzes/exams. Get a full note sheet on exams, too. Lectures are nothing special but he's an amazing person.
The course itself is very easy and Professor Berg is a very nice person, but professor Berg is a terrible teacher. He does not explain any of the course material, he simply just goes to the front of the class and solves problems on the doc cam while muttering to himself and without actually explaining any of the processes he is using.
Prof Berg will just do notes every class, which is boring, but for every single test you will know exactly what is going to be on it. And he never calls on students in class, which I've heard other 109 profs do and that would be my worst nightmare.
makes reviews for tests, online homework with unlimited answers, offers lots of help
He's an okay professor, we have had to correct his answers a lot during lecture, doesn't really explain what he is doing when he shows his work. He's a really nice guy and makes the tests pretty easy. But overall, okay teacher.
Most lectures last 35 min, then there's time for hw/questions for the rest of the class. I had to watch videos on YouTube for extra help because he's not that good at explaining. But, it's obvious that he tries his best to help when you ASK for it, and everyone's not perfect. Overall, he's a funny, kind, and forgiving/lenient professor. Take him!
He's a cool dude and really loves math but I just didn't like his teaching style. He kind of assumed you knew what was going on and that you're supposed to understand what he's teaching. Very cool but socially awkward.
Professor Berg is very nice and has good intentions but his teaching style won't work for you if you're not naturally good at math. Every class is a notes packet that he fills out on the hover cam but doesn't ever explain what he's doing or why. I taught myself outside of class. I also attended almost every class and still had a very hard time.
Berg was a pretty good professor for the most part. The only issue was that he's not the greatest with teaching the material, but rather mumbles to himself while quickly solving the questions on his own. Be prepared to possibly teach yourself some of the material. He's great for answering questions though.
Professor Berg is a very caring person, and mainly teaches using guided notes which I found to be incredibly helpful to look back on for review. I would recommend his classes if you aren't great at math because he is more than willing to help you, is very accessible, and provides great explanations when asked. I had a great experience in his class!
Robert is very open to helping any student that comes his way. He is easy going and approachable. Although he is kind, his teaching tactics are flawed. You basically fill in packets in class with no explanation to how he got the answer. Be prepared to teach yourself in his class. The material isn't hard. You just need to study enough.
Mr. Berg is a good professor and he is so adorable. He cares for his students, is easily accessible by email and office hours. There is a module of homework after every class which is 4 times a week... He does not really explain very good so be ready to teach things to yourself. Don't be afraid, he is very approachable and understanding.
Professor Berg is very nice, but often I felt lost during his lectures as he wouldn't always explain how he got the answers that he did. He's a good person but his teaching methods just didn't work for me or the people around me. Homework is a lot of free points but often wouldn't reflect what we learned in class, which made learning challenging.
Robert Berg is an awesome man. He is so adorable and cares about his students. He likes to tell silly stories that makes class bearable. His lectures are sometimes confusing but he is always willing to help. Easy class if you do your homework and try on the exams.
Robert is an okay professor, his lectures can be very difficult if you don't understand math very easily. His lectures are just going through packets and sometimes he even gets lost with what he is doing so he will stop showing work and just write down the answer. He is open for office hours to help so I recommend that.
Professor Berg offers lots of resources outside of class, such as videos, notes, and office hours, so in my opinion, your success in the class depends on the effort you put in. Homework is 30% of your grade, so it is crucial to put in the effort. You get a sheet of paper for all exams, including the final. Attendance isn't graded but still go.
Professor Berg cares about his students and wants them to succeed but he does want you to do the homework since it is 30% of your grade and that 30% can do a lot. He is a great guy and I overall recommend him for any math class.
Prof Berg is what I would call an 'alright' professor. A little awkward and can tend to ramble. But overall is a nice, grounded guy. Homework is a large chunk of your grade and you have unlimited attempts. You also get a whole page of paper to put whatever you want on for exams. The class is setup so that you will pass if you just try.
I had a hard time with this class. Notes felt like I was just writing things down to write things down, and not actually learning. You are allowed cheat sheets on each exam as well as on the final. Berg is a nice guy but I didn't take to his teaching very well. Helpful to work alongside photo math and write each step down if you don't understand.
Professor Berg is a decent guy, I just didn't jive with his teaching style. A lot of it was writing down notes I didn't fully understand. Attend his office hours or the Math Lab if you don't understand a concept, he is happy to help. Note sheets were also the most helpful during tests, don't skip out on those!
All of his classes are just watch him do the work and follow along. This works with some people, and others it leaves them in the dust. He rambles a fair bit and the classes drag on sometimes, but truly just a decent dude. Do the homework, as its a majority of your grade, and take full advantage of the cheat sheets for exams because they're clutch.
literally the worst professor ever, a rock can teach better than him
Show up to class and you'll be fine, if you can't be there just email him, he's chill and wants you to pass
Berg is a good man and can tell some funny stories, but all he does for lectures, is copy for the answer key and barely gives an explanation. I took math 20 before and they were more helpful than him. It just feels like you're supposed to teach yourself through webwork, when we're paying for education, to be taught by professors. Don't take him
The dude gave me a 3 percent curve at the end of the semester from a 77.5% to an 80%, because I was his funniest student. Also he's a hilarious professor himself
Attendance was technically mandatory, but if you have the drive to do all the homework online and take the notes online, they're all accessible on Canvas. You do have to come in for quizzes and tests, unfortunately.
He is a wonderful professor. He is a little dry, however he is very sweet and lenient. His exams are always multiple choice and we can have a full sheet of paper notes for the exam. His teaching style may be hard to understand as he just writes down the problems, but if you do your homework, go to class, and pay attention you will be fine!
He's a bit quirky and very easy to talk with. He dedicates a lot of time outside of the classroom if you are having trouble with anything. I personally liked the packet he gives because it made looking back through lecture work so much easier. Cheat sheets for every test and final. And you can earn extra credit. Apply yourself and you will do well.
He is an EXTREMELY nice guy, very personable. As for his teaching, it is a bit bland. He essentially locks into teaching, and will ramble on about the same topic for long periods repeating himself. Not the best if you are the type who learns math through action/visual over being told things. Again, nice guy who will help if you ask though!
Wouldn't suggest taking as an online class, videos are very boring and I wasn't able to get any learning out of them. He responds to questions quickly and seems like a nice guy but just not a very organized or well taught for an online course.
Professor Berg was good at teaching subjects in class, but when it came to sending emails with questions. I would receive a rude response that didn't make my learning as a student easier. He does tend to take around a month to grade exams, which can be frustrating when you want to know your grade.
Robert is a great teacher with an amazing personality! He'll often get side tracked telling us different stories which I always enjoyed. Attendance is graded, but doesnt make up a huge percentage of your grade, and theres typically homework 2-3 times a week. Shorter class times makes it hard for him to explain some things, this was my only issue.
