AWFUL TEACHER. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. He doesn't even teach. He copies stuff straight from the book onto the overhead and reads it. He doesn't explain anything, even when asked. No need to go to class at all. Get a tutor. Get a study group. GET OUT!

This guy was a horrible teacher. He wasn't very good at getting the information across to the students. His test were extremly hard and long. I ended up with an 'A' in the course but that was because I had a good recitation teacher. And he scaled alot.

he only reads straight from the book. a friend, tutor or study group is more effective and useful. he wont answer any questions. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. The class average for each test is around 45-50 (on a 10 point scale). You will fail or withdraw!

Is a nice guy but when it comes to teaching...I'm not sure he is the one that you would enjoy! As far as grades go good LUCK! Grades are scaled because everyone fails but you have to teach yourself. Overall dont take him!

The worst teacher, hes a nice guy but his test are impossible. The class average for the first two test out of 203 was a 50 and 53. He does not teach, He copies the book and puts it on the over head and you cannot understand him. Dont take his class!!

Does not teach. The scales were only 5 points on tests this semester. Everybody is failing. No scale in the end. Don't take him. Run for your lives. Get out while you can, because I failed. He is the worst ever.

Well this mans idea of teaching is to scan pages of the text book, put them on an overhead, and then read them to the class. Now why couldnt auburn university pay me thousands of dollars a year to read a book to students. Why even have teachers at all&#63

T'is true what everyone has said. His lectures are about interesting as watching grass grow. His lecture method sucks, I can read the book on my own so it is not necessary for him to read it to me in class.

This man is ASS! His notes are book transparencies, his lazer pointer goes everywhere, and when you ask for help he says, "just know this" He's french canadian, thats a double whammy. difficult to understand as well. test are very tough.

I am not sure that Boivin has ever been taught physics himself. Since all that he does is read from the overhead. When you ask him a question all he says is "it is in the book".

This professor has no teaching qualities whatsoever. If you are unfortunate enough to get stuck in his class, just stay home and study the book. His lectures are worthless and I would do all I could to avoid getting his class.

RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN! The worst class (and teacher) ever! This guy is an absolute joke. I'm pretty good in physics, and even I am completely lost in this ridiculous class. If you're thinking about taking him, don't!And if you've just signed up for it, get another teacher...ANY other teacher!!

Terrible teacher. I loved physics until I took this guy's class. I learned more when I skipped class. When I went to class I passed the time by writing down the crazy things he says like "Sky diving is a lot more comfortable with a parachute." That was the ONLY good thing about the class.

I Learned more physics by falling off a ladder than in this guys "class" if thats what you call something that has no point in even going to. if you have to take him forget having any sort of life if you are taking a full load as well. (homework critical, to do well on test you must know how to do every problem W/OUT RELYING ON SOLUTIONS MAN.!)

this guy is hands down the worst teacher at auburn. he has no idea how to teach anything, much less a subject as difficult as physics. he's also famous for giving a really hard test in the morning lecture, then giving a quiz on NEW material in the afternoon. he's a ****. take someone else.

i am really good at physics cause i had already had it twice before. but boivin was so crappy. if i had to learn from him, i dont know that i could have. a friend made a 35 on the first test then i tutored him to a B so it can be done. you just have to ignore boivin and get help from someone else. the tests arent horrible but butt-sex boivin is

Boivin is definitely interested in learning how to teach students better, though not enough work up to the level of his expectations. His lectures are helpful in pointing out where to study in the book. Patham, Spring 06 gta, saved my grade with recitation explainations. Best lecture notes in AU physics department.. sadly.

Physics is not easy, but Boivin teaches it VERY indepth. His tests are a bit weird, but they're based off of physics problems. If you're having trouble go talk to him. If he knows that you're trying, but you're just not getting it, then he will try his hardest to help you pass. Do your HW, and deffinetly get Pathum as your GTA.

I was afraid of this class (b/c of rate my professor ratings) but Boivin was my favorite teacher, he is very nice and tries his best to help you during office hours, I liked his teaching. Your grade will show what work you put in... i got a B and im not great at physics (but i did all my homework) again, very nice guy

Boivin trys hard to help you if you go to him in person, but I found his class to be pretty useless, usually I just ended up reading the book to learn the material. If you put in some time and do all the homework plus practice problems out of the book before the tests you will be fine.

Normal Physics teacher i suppose, lectures are a complete waste of time he just reads slides straight from the textbook. I do not recommend this guy to anyone, only scales tests like 5 points, but has a 5-10 pt. scale built into your final grade.

Physics is hard and Boivin wont help you if you dont try, so do ur HW!!! He doesnt scale, but he doesnt ask questions that he hasnt covered. Do your HW, ask Q's, and use his office hours. His tests arent the same between classes, but are a good study guide. And for gods sake dont rely on the solutions manual for HW. Oh, and know your formulas.

Dr. Robert Boivin is the best ever teacher I did know during all my lifetime. He has a briliant mind, handsome way of teaching, he is a real gentleman. He is an honest professor, deeply love science. he was the greatest physict taught me physics.

Physics is tough, but Dr. Boivin is the best teacher you can get if you want to learn something. He is very helpful if you put forth the effort to go to his office and ask questions. He want give you the answers, but he'll talk you through it until you understand, which is exactly what a professor should do.

For this class, you need to apply yourself, and ask him for help outside of class when you don't get something. The homework grades can really help you if you're struggling on the other stuff. And go to class! It's not that hard to!

Dr. Boivin's class, for those of us who attended and were motivated enough to work, was not difficult. There were weekly homework assignments given weeks in advance. The problems were not unreasonable and could be found in the book. Boivin is a great professor who gives you the grade you deserve. I recommend using the book along with your notes.

I had Boivin for PHYS 1600 and 1610. He is an amazing professor, and any bad reviews on here are from lazy kids who did not have enough drive to apply themselves. USE YOUR BOOK along with lecture notes. Best professor yet...wish I could have him for my engineering courses as well. I highly suggest taking him for these classes.

Worst professor I've ever had. First C I've ever received. Problems 'worked in class'--read off from the projector--were completely unlike problems assigned for homework. Was unhelpful and rude during office hours...talked at me for a whole hour about kids today and how I could be a better person/student when I went to turn in my homework.

You need to go to class to get Example problems that are like HW. HW, even though supposed to be from book, is quite hard. I devoted many hours to this class and it looks as if I'm still going to get a C. Going to class helps, and going to his office hours help but class is still super hard.

Hes not a bad professor. Just understand that physics 2 is stuff that if you havent taken this class before is a completly new idea and is hard in nature. He scales everything at least 5 points and his scale is 85-100 A 70-84 B. His tests are not that bad if you understand the concepts and how to manipulate equations.hes always at his office.

Very good professor, has a charming personality that keeps you interested. Difficult to learn from lectures but PHYSICS 2 IS A HARD CONCEPT. Read each chapter in the book before each week and it will work wonders for your understanding. the university assigned book does a VERY good job of teaching the subject. Fairly good teacher. The material is tough, but Dr. Boivin goes over everything you'll need to know. There are homework assignments due almost every week. His tests are very similar to the homework so if you study your notes and homework, you'll do fine. I would definitely recommend taking Dr. Boivin over the other physics professors.

Tests are way harder than anything in the book and way more diffucult than the homework. He doesnt go over anything in class except the first paragraph of ever chapter in the book and random theory that is worthless on your homework and tests. People who say he is a good teacher are crazy.
