took this class online. the test were pretty easy, but you have to be careful not to make careless mistakes, answers are multiple choice but in a range (1-100, 101-200, etc). some of the online excercises are confusing, but make sure you know them as the exam typically has very similar questions. curves class avg to 90, so that helps the grade.

While he knows his material and presents it fairly well, he does not engage the students well. The multiple choice tests will kill you if you make a stupid mistake on your arithmetic. Be ready to spend a bit of time reading 3 additional books besides the textbook. While worthwhile reading it is a very time consuming class.

The prof teaches well. every piece of the class is available on his website and is managed very well. He also curves the grades so about 25% of students come out with an A, but if you dont prepare you can also end up with a D.

He is such a nice guy!! I had previously taken STATS with another teacher last year and had to drop. I am so glad that I took him! Yes, this class does require you to study and know the material but he is so kind and makes slides that are short and very beneficial. You don't have to be a math guru for this class! By far, best STATS professor. :)

Dr. Bregman is very nice attitude wise and will go over certain problems from the book if you ask. Tests aren't terrible, just be sure to study the book and powerpoints. The math problems are very simplistic in terms of the test problems, its the theoretical concepts that are often tricky, but not difficult. Highly recommend him.

I essentially taught myself this class through the book (I'm utterly serious). Promise yourself to read the chapters and do the homework in good time B4 tests. Bregman taught the class pretty well for a guy that's new to teaching stats. He posts all his stuff on his website before class, so it's easily available. Dr. Bregman is one of the best professors you will ever take for stats. He takes the time to explain the concepts in power points that break down how to actually solve the problem. This Professor is an amazing professor for Stats 3331. His notes and explanation are crystal clear and you will only need book for his homework for couple of things here and there. if you have to choose He is far better than other stats professors. If you are taking stats take him and If you failed stats before then this is the professor to take.

Dr. Bregman is a good professor. You'll do best in this class by heeding his advice and actually reading the book before class. I didn't and pulled off a B-. Stats is pretty tough, but it's not impossible. Appreciate the fact that Dr. Bregman keeps everything very linear and structured, which is essential to clearly teach this class.

Compared to other Stats teachers. He's a lot easier and he's very nice. Provides youtube videos and power points that are quite helpful. Has a review before the test. Curves tests by 10 points so that's a plus. No homework, but doing the homework problems in the book helps a lot.

I highly recommend taking him instead of other Stats professors at Bauer. I took stats twice and dropped it. Then I took it in the summer with Bregman. He was very clear on what would be on the test, practice problems in the book are helpful, gives curves around 10 points, lecture videos make things a lot easier. Good professor in general.

Professor Bregman isnt charismatic like professor Smith, however I find he has very clear cut powerpoints and gets very down to the subjects and presents the course in a well structured manner. Furthermore I feel the tests are a good reflection of the material covered in class and on the HW. Much is self taught, But his powerpoints help a lot.

Bregman is a very smart individual, at times he can come across as boring, however he wants you to succeed and his tests are based of the homework and lectures, I almost wish I was a SCM major so i could take Bregman again

Stats is the hardest business prereq course at Bauer. But Bregman is super nice and tries to help. The other teachers fill you with work, while Bregman just goes over his slides and his homework is optional. Take him, he's your best shot.

Best option. This class is great if you like to teach yourself. Don't go to lecture, he is basically just reading to you. The book itself is GREAT at explaining everything. How to get an A? read the chapters, take detailed (written) reading notes, work the assigned problems, then go over ppts. Do this 2 days before the test so it will be fresh.

Self taught class, but the tests are not that bad. Gives you a practice test before each exam and his online games helps A LOT. Take him, just be aware that your grade only depends on 3 tests and a cumulative final which replaces the lowest test grade! Great professor though with semi-corny jokes! :)

The best Professor

Super easy. He has these games online that are literally his test bank and if you play them enough times you'll do excellent on the test. No need to go to class. In fact, only 15300 people regularly attended my class. He's an adorable little man, but he's kind of boring. 3 tests, optional final. No homework. PLAY THE GAMES. It's all you need.

great lecturer, despite the fact that he as to give staci's tests (harder), he's still able to prepare us for her tests. Read the sections before class, go to lectures, attend his extra review sessions. if math is not your strong point, I recommend you take staci (not better lecturer, just as good as him)

Covering material before class will make lectures much more useful. Dr. Smith's tests and homeworks are difficult, but Dr. Bregman is willing to help you out. Plan on spending 5-6 hours on each homework. Work efficiently on tests. Do his games and/or Smith's test reviews in her workbook to prepare for tests. I strongly recommend Dr. Bregman.

Here's my understanding of the way the course is laid out; Smith babies you and goes step by step, Bregman understands that stats isn't that hard and doesn't. The difference is that this isn't really a Stats class. Stats isn't hard, what IS hard is Ms. Smiths tricks and wordings on the exams which is why it might be better to take her. I liked Breg

I had to take Bregman bc Staci's class filled up. (Only Bregman & Staci teach STAT 3331 at UH) Anywho, Bregman is a great man but that doesn't cut it. This class is hard. If you can't get in Staci's class, try to still go to her lectures. STUDY, DO YOUR HW, GO TO THE TUTORING LAB. Good luck you guys... Only the dedicated make it out.

STATS is tedious. I took Bregman because his class time worked for my schedule. Make sure to study the power points & try to make 100's on your HW's, play his games, & go to STATS lab (I didnt, so maybe if i did I culdve had a higher grade). Also, Professor Bregman replies to e-mails when I needed help on daily homeworks and homeworks.

All these students who complain about Bregman don't put in the work to suceed. Statistics is not a difficult class. People sign up for Bregman, and then don't even show up. His lectures had maybe 50 students of a room of 250. The tests are hard, yeah. But if you study with groups, individually, whatever you'll do fine. First test is the easiest.

He tells you the basics. But he isn't here to baby you. He gives you examples and shows how to work it. Staci is a better teacher for the subject because she makes you buy a work book and does detailed examples with you. But if you take bregman make sure you stay at the stats lab ALOT. and do the reviews in the back of stacis book! youll be fine!!!

Don't come in with the preconceived notion that you're going to do poorly. If you ACTUALLY pay attention in his class, you'll do well. He gives you key pointers during lecture, so be sure to listen. The exercises/games he provides on his website are not a grade but are very helpful. Pace yourself, and stats will be much easier. Trust in thyself.

His lecturing skill may not be the best, but he makes up for it by having a website where you can go logging in and practice exercises which is very helpful when preparing for exams.

The material is hard so there is that. Most people don't like that he lectures from a ppt, but once you figure out HOW he lectures it's doable. You have to study, and focus on what you do know, not how hard it is. He allows hw corrections which saved my grade. Find a solid study group w/ a blend of students from his and Smith's class asap.

He has his own method of teaching which worked out for me. Stats is hard! Whichever professor you choose, you will definitely have to put in the work. He does not require you to buy book like Staci. His resources are all online and super helpful! All you have to go over is his practice problems because they are very similar to exam problems.

He reads straight off the powerpoints which he uploads online. He'll work through the problems in class. A lot of stats is memorizing the steps and then doing it yourself. I would recommend taking him for access to the games on his website and then going to Staci's class bc I feel she's a better lecturer. It's the only reason I made a B.

Honestly all the negative reviews are from students who expect the professor to hold your hand and walk you through everything. If you show up to class, and do the work you WILL pass. People say that STATs is hard but honestly it is just very time consuming. He is not a good lecturer because he just reads off the slide but he does examples.

If you can do them you can do EVERYTHING on the exams). He goes over the dailies in class (but attendance not mandatory). 3 CASA exams.

All the negative reviews are most likely from people who don't want to try.. If you go to the lectures and get a basic foundation of the material, and then go home and really teach yourself, as well as PRACTICE, you will pass the class. This class is not meant to be easy. I would recommend this prof. over the other because of his website.

His exam reviews shows you step by step on how to solve the problem and Staci's review only gives you the correct answer WITHOUT explanation.

Honestly, the most over hyped class at UH. If all the people that complained spent the same amount of energy trying to learn the material instead of whining and complaining, they prolly could've made a decent grade in the class. Just do the review games and do all the HWs and Dailies. If you're struggling go to the lab.
