Doesn't make you buy the textbook and is easy to understand.
really good professor, but boring
Make sure to take good notes. The test comes completely from them. He is a good professor and will answer any questions you have.
I got an A, and i didnt go to class that much, JUST GET THE NOTES AND MEMORIZE, and you're set.
SO SO SO NICE!!!
I loved his class! He LOVES to answer questions and the class in general is interesting. There are lots of notes to take, but the test comes directly from the notes. Go to class. Take the notes. Study them. You're set. And he's a nice professor!
Hes a really cool professor. As long as you go to class and take good notes you will do fine! The exams come exactly from your notes so just study them and you'll do great
He is probably one of the chillest cats to roam the earth. He gives good lectures, and his tests are normally not to hard if you studied. He is extremely understanding and nice, take him, kick back and learn....Bunger-style.
A LITTLE WEIRD BUT PRETTY EASY IF YOU GO TO CLASS.
Dr. Bunger is one of the nicest professors on campus. His lectures are clear and informative. Take good notes and you'll get an A. Also - He likes legitimate questions. Warning - NO Cell phones ringing in class!
I've had him twice in the same year. WONDERFUL professor. He knows his stuff and loves to answer questions. Tests are all short answer. You HAVE to go to class to do well.
He is a really good professor. You have to go to class to do well on his tests. The test will be straight from his lecture.
Very good teacher, I have taken him twice. I earned a "B" each time but could have earned an "A" each time if I studied harder!
Dr. Bunger is a great professor! He gives thorough notes, and as long as you go to class and take excellent notes you will do fine. I got an A, but I had to earn it. Very sweet man.
He's very easy to understand and repeats things more than once. Just take good notes and study and you will pass.
He looks like Mario and Luigi.
He's a cool man, rather monotone so you don't want to be there, however, attendence is heavily added into your grade. Take good notes and remember examples and you'll do fine. Rather interesting class especially when you get to marriage and descent groups
Just take good notes and you will make an A. But you have to study them also. If you do not attend class, you will probably not do so well. Tests come right from the notes he gives.
This is the nicest, kindest, most patient professor out there. Undoubtedly. He expects you to work hard, and makes help easily accessible if you just ASK for it! Super duper prof, I love him.
he is a great teacher and he is very easy if you take notes
good professor, repeats himself and loves to tell stories that are relavent to what he is speaking about... VERY GOOD... take detailed notes, or tape record him, but sit in the front row... assigned seats, can only miss 3 days, then points come off your test grades
He is an excellent teacher. You must take good notes though. You don't need a book because the tests are right from the notes he gives, and he repeates himself to make sure you have enough time to write it all down.
Dr. Bunger is extremely helpful. Attendance is important, he has a policy, and it will hurt you to not attend. I didn't take his first test serious and got a 71. I learned my lesson and got 100's on the next two. tests are 20 items 5 pts each identify and define. Great class.
He has a very peaceful spirit. Dr. Bunger is one of the few professors that you will always remember. Iloved all the classes I took under him. He is very detailed and patient. His deep love for his work is evident in each class. You will want to attend his classes.
he is a very kind man and will do anything to help you out. interesting lectures, but you MUST take good notes. you will have to study to do well on the tests. dr bunger is very smart with a great sense of humor. i highly reccomend taking him.
he's wonderful, must take good notes in this class, but he goed out of his way to help you. he usually repeats the important stuff to make sure you got it. he's a great guy:-)
All of his classes are pretty great. The only exception, if your not going to go to class, you'll flunk. If you go, then you will do pretty well.
This man is great. He's not going to let you get by doing a halfass job in his class. You really have to take good detailed notes to do well on his exams. But he is so fair and has a lot of passion for what he teaches. I genuinely liked this man as a p
he's so sweet...study your notes, read assignments and you'll fine...
Dr. Bunger is a very kind, mild mannered man. He is very intelligent and knows a lot about a lot lol. He will help you in any way he can but he is fair so dont expect any hand outs or extra credit. The tests arent difficult if you study and try to know 90% of what he gives out in notes. Ask questions...he likes it when you ask questions.
Dr Bunger is a very peaceful professor who really knows his stuff and has the field experience to back up his knowledge.3 and only 3 tests; 20 essays. Tests arent hard but cover massive amounts of information. Go to every class, take good notes, and if it comes down to it, you can cram for 2-3 nights and make a 100 on the test.
Bunger's the sweetest, calm professor i've ever met. He's a great teacher, he's got very straightforward lectures and is highly educated in his field. Great guy!
Dr. Bunger is very smart and knows what he's talking about. If you show up to class everyday and take notes (which are VERY easy - he writes everything important on the board!), you'll do fine. There are only 3 tests and they aren't that bad. He's a great professor!
He is an amazing teacher. I would recommend him to anyone. Very interesting class.
I hope that I am as cool as Bunger when I am his age. I didn't know what to expect in this class. He made it very intresting learning about other cultures. He tries to add bits of humor here and there. I never really read the books required for the class. All test come from his notes. Nice guy.
Dr. Bunger is awesome. He's very kind and has a lot of knowledge on his subject. He's also very helpful and likes to get to know his students. This class was very interesting, and I would definitely recommend it. Study your notes thoroughly and go to class; you'll be fine.
He is a great teacher. Make sure you go to class and take notes. Tests are all paragraph form but directly from the notes. It's easy if you study. Only three grades the entire semester... three tests, not cumulative. Overall, very interesting.
Excellent professor, by far my favorite at ECU. The tests come straight from the notes, just come to class, listen and take notes. If you have any questions he answers them right away, the best he can. Very intelligent and definately knows what he is talking about. Very sweet man.
Dr. Bunger is extremely knowledgeable. You don't need to buy the text books, just take really good notes and go to class. The exams are straight from his notes. There are only three exams that are twenty short answer. You should do fine if you take good notes.
Dr. Bunger is by far my favorite professor. He is the calmest, sweetest man I've ever met in my life. All the tests come straight from his notes. Just come to class, take good notes and you'll do good, no need to buy the textbook. EXCELLENT professor
Dr. Bunger is a wonderful professor. The class was interesting, like listening to Grandpa tell stories of travels in foreign lands. Tests are NOT multiple choice, but not difficult. I recommend him, he convinced me to be an Anthropology Major.
One of the best teachers at this university! I wish all of my professors were this awesome! Attendence is mandatory but he will work with you if you have extenuating cir****stances. Tests are not easy but as long as you take good notes and go to class you'll be OK. He also tells really interesting stories of his travels.
He is a super sweet man. He definitely knows every detail of what he teachs. But he is very... boring in class. You don't need to buy the textbooks because if you take good notes, you will have no need for the books. Tests are pretty easy.
Dr. Bunger is so smart! He is an excellent teacher and knows so much about the topic. Makes it interesting! If you take good notes you'll do really well on the test. The material was so interesting to me that I barely needed to study my notes for the test, I just remembered it from class! Gives essay tests, which are my specialty :) Made an A!
Had him as a freshman and taking two more classes! HIS test are word for word just memorize the notes and your good.
Dr. Bunger is the reason that I changed my major to anthropology. He is led a fascinating life and obviously enjoys teaching. I highly recommend any of his classes. Tests are not bad if you just go to class and take notes. Extremely helpful!
Wonderful teacher. His class is really dry, but what he teaches is interesting. You do not need the books at all. I don't think anyone in class bought them. The tests aren't that bad, just study your notes. Overall a great teacher.
This teach is AWESOME! He's been so many places and gives great examples to help you remember stuff. Don't need the book at all. Essay tests are easy and straight from the notes. Just show up and take good notes and ask questions and you'll do great!
Excellent instructor! Tests take a lot of time and studying is essential because there is a lot to remember. Tests are usually 20 essary/short answer questions.
The best professor anyone could ever have. I was student of his years ago. I took all of his classes and he is the reason I majored in Anthropology! I called him recently to ask him a question and he was extremely helpful even though he was not obligated to help me. Just an overall great person.
A GREAT teacher! You don't even need the book the test come straight from the notes and he tells you what to study! No assignments justs 3 tests!
I had this class in the morning which made it hard to stay awake. Pretty boring but hes a sweet guys. Tests are from notes. Dont buy the book at all! Takes attendance. If you study your notes you should be fine on the test. Just stay awake.
Dr. Bunger was a very interesting professor! He cares about his students and wants to see them succeed in his class! If you go to class and take notes (he lectures) you will do very good. His tested are based strictly what he lectures on in class. There is 2-3 tests and that is what your final grade is based on. Great Professor - I would take again.
Mr. Bunger has a profound intellect. Lectures are peppered with humorous anecdotes. You literally cannot sit in class and not learn the cultural idiosyncrasies of many cultural groups. His tests are rigorous, and he expects you to be able to retain a vast store of info. You will feel accomplished after class. Perhaps ECU?s most eminent professor
Great professor! No assignments, only 3 exams. If you fail the first 2 exams and make a B on the last one, he will take your improvement into considertation and probably allow you to pass. Don't buy the book, tests are from notes. Start studying a week before the exam and use flash cards. That's what I did and I made A's on all three exams.
By far the smartest most understanding Professor in ECU. He can explain the hardest topics in the most simple terms. Can tie ideas together so well. I feel like its story time every time I go in his class. I recommend him. He doesn?t give you busy work, his class is lecture based you must attend to do well and only three tests so know the mate
GREATEST PROF AT ECU. All the above and more. not boring at all...as one said, it's like storytime every time you go. I changed my major to Anthro because of Dr. B.
Great Professor. Really interesting and intelligent. I would take every class he teaches if I could!!!! TAKE HIM!!
He's boring, rigid, and is never available to help. Assignments are vague, and he doesn't give very much to earn a grade during the semester. Doesn't mind embarassing students in front of others. Tests are BRUTAL...essay - memorize your notes and dump them on paper. and he's picky about details in the answers. i wouldn't take him again ever!!
The class was really boring. Just taking notes and hi is monotoned the whole time. Class consisted of three tests including a non comprehensive final. Take notes on prettty much everything he says and study alot for the tests. The tests are fill in the blank and short answers. Any detail he mentioned can be on tests. you dont need the book
I had him for Anth 1000. His class is very boring, and it is lecture only. Take as good of notes as you can. His tests are difficult, you basically have to memorize them and spill out everything onto paper. However, there are only 3 and you will have no other assignments. If you have good attendance, he will consider that with your final grade.
Dr. Bunger is a wonderful professor. If you are not interested in his lecture material then you likely will find the class boring. He is purely lecture. The books he assigns are usually just to flesh out his subject. If you are doing poorly he will work with you! He is a very caring professor and wants you to do well. Introduce yourself to him!
He was a pretty easy professor. The tests were all memorization, but the material was pretty easy if you attend the classes and take good notes. He tells you what you need to know for the tests, and he was pretty friendly.
He is the greatest prof ever! Very interesting, but has high standards. He is very helpful, if you try. no need to buy the textbook. Just go to class, take copious notes and memorize them. you always know what's on the test beforehand. I think he's hot. that's the only distraction for me. just can't stop thinking about him.
Dr. Bunger is so great! He's a really sweet, cute old man with lots of cool stories and funny jokes. He is completely lecture, so be prepared to listen. He loves to talk about his time in Africa with the Pokomo. You definitely HAVE to study, but his tests are not impossible. I learned a ton from this class and found it really interesting.
He is a very intresting teacher. He talks extensively and you must take very good notes. His test are completely short answer. His test are hard, you must attend class, and there is no need to buy the book.
One of the most intelligent people I have had the opportunity to study under in my entire life. It seems that he really enjoys what he does, and those professors are the best ones to have. He only speaks during lectures (with a few drawings) and all the topics he covers in class are on tests except for a few from the book for those that read.
Has high standards, but if you go to class, take good notes, and study, you'll do fine. I made A's in every class. He's helpful and very approachable. He's a brilliant prof! I learned so much in his class. TAKE HIM! Everyone loves him!! I'm minoring because of him. Best prof I've EVER had in my life!!
He is a awesome profesor, he has lots of experience in his field and has lots of good stories. just make sure to sit in the front, he doesn't talk very loud, and his test are a little hard, no word banks?
The best teacher I will ever have. Brilliant, doesn't let the duds get away with wasting his time and thier money by passing idiots, if you want to learn something, this is the teacher to have. if you want to waste your college career, don't take up his seats.
Great Professor! Very interesting even if you are not majoring in anthro. His tests are all writing but there are only 3 throughout the semester. The final is not cumulative. Takes attendance every day. Still really helpful guy and lets you out early
This teacher made me double major in history and anthropology, his class is amazing, seriously, he makes learning fun. I dont even really have to study to do well. I plan on taking all of the possible classes i can with him. Loveee him best teacher of my life!!
I love this prof. I wish I could put him in my backpack and take him home with me. He's brilliant. And so very helpful. he will do anything in the world to help any student. TAKE him. I have had every class he teaches except one. That will be next semester.
Such a wonderful professor. He's very clear in his lectures, and he gives clear study points for the tests. He will do anything he can to help a student out. He really loves what he teaches too. Awesome, easy to learn from, great professor.
AWESOME professor! I made As on all of his exams. 3 exams, no cumulative final. I studied for maybe an hour or two for each one. You have to go to class if you want a good grade, but it's worth it. His stories are the best and so interesting. Highly recommend him :)
Loved going to his class! He's a very nice guy and genuinely cares about his students. You have to go to class and take diligent notes. Only 3 exams, all short answer (gotta know details) and straight from his lectures. I enjoyed learning about each society BECAUSE of him.
Dr. Bunger doesn't mess around with fluff, he tells you what you need to know very clearly and directly. If you take notes well and study for the tests, you should have no problem making an A.
Excellent prof!
Best prof ever! I've had all his classes!
BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! he tells you what you need to know clearly. the tests are straight forward and easy. class is heavily based on memorization. the material is interesting. he is entertaining and adorably funny! TAKE HIM!!!!
One of my favorite professors ever- he really knows what he's talking about. Also interested in being your friend if you're kindly to him. His tests are a little difficult, but if you pay attention in class, they're easy.
There are only 3 tests (short answer, no MC) that make up your grade. No extra credit. In order to do well on the tests, STUDY, GO TO CLASS, and take NOTES. Dr. Bunger tells you everyone that will be on the test and the textbooks are suggested, but you don't really need them. If you need help, go to his office hours!
This teacher is awesome!!! If you need help, just ask him. His tests are right off of the lectures, and he isnt a hard grader. The only thing is that the textbooks arent necessary.
the class overall was easy and interesting at times, GO TO CLASS if not you will not pass the test there are only three test and they are EASY if you go to class and write down everything that he says, gives outlines so that was a plus. if I could i would have recorded his lectures but take it EASY A if you try
Extremely easy class but beware, lots and lots of notes. However tests are 100% based of notes and quite easy if memorized. Attendance is said to be mandatory but it really isn't. No homework, quizzes, or projects grade is solely based off 4 tests. If you go to class and take halfway decent notes you'll be fine
Awesome teacher, this class can be the easiest class if you just take notes and STUDY them! I've had 2 classes with him and both only had 3 test, the test themselves are always define questions. He does not have multiple choice, so you have to know what your talking about.
SO SO SO KIND! Dr. Bunger is an awesome professor with a good heart and a kind demeanor. He loves what he does, and you can tell that he knows what he's talking about. No textbook necessary - just go to class and take good notes. He loves to talk to students after class with any questions...he easily will become your friend
A very fun and great professor! He doesn't require you to buy the textbook but does suggest possibly doing online research if you want more information. Tests are all short answer but real easy if you study and took good notes (so you should attend the classes!) He'll work with you and he really cares and speaks highly of his students!
He was so nice and extremely helpful with everything. The tests are a little hard but as long as you pay attention you'll do fine!
easy class but LOTS of notes. but the test are 20 questions and 100% straight from the notes so very easy. DO NOT BUY THE BOOKS. you don't need them. beware: very boring class
Easy class, but not an easy A. There is no hw or assignments other than tests but he is boring, you take an ungodly amount of notes and never tells you what to study for tests. His tests are 20 SHORT ANSWER questions that he grades very hard, if you leave out any minor detail. Do not take this class as an elective if you're not an anthro major!
He is the best professor in the Anthropology department and probably the nicest person you will ever meet!!
Go to class & take good notes. There is a lot of notes but only select things will be on the tests. So in order to do good on the tests you have to just study ALL of the notes. Textbooks might help but you don't need them.
Dr. Bunger is one of the most genuine and kind souls you will ever meet. He is endlessly interested in his subject, very friendly and helpful. If you get the chance to do so, ask him questions. GO TO CLASS! There are reading assignments, but tests (3 total, 20 short answer) is straight from notes in class and there are no PowerPoints.
Great Professor! Lectures are super interesting! He tells you everything you need to know. If you do not pass, it is your own fault. Need to study!
I had Mr. Bunger for anthropology 2200! It was so much easier than the work my friends had for Anth 1000! He's a very sweet old man and so helpful! Just go to class and take notes, he tries to make his lectures as interesting as possible with a few corny elderly jokes haha :) I only skipped twice the whole semester and got a 97 in the class!
Dr. Bunger is an older gentleman, so he teaches in a way that most students aren't used to. He has no Powerpoints and he doesn't use Blackboard, so COME TO CLASS and TAKE GOOD NOTES. Tests are all short answer ("define" questions), but he emails you a list of key words for each unit that he pulls from. Use the flashcard method to study; IT WORKS!
Amazing professor! He has been all around the world and knows what he is talking about. If you skip class it is kinda hard to jump right back in, but I only missed his class once because it was so interesting to me! Recommend
Dr. Bunger was a very sweet man but his teaching was not for me. He is very old fashioned and speaks everything he teaches, so you write EVERYTHING. No power points or blackboard and his four tests are the only grades you get so if you bomb one you're out of luck. I dropped this course because of him and dont recommend it if youre tech savvy.
Dr. Bunger is the cutest old man you will ever meet. He is so passionate about what he's teaching that its so easy to learn from. If you have questions he is more than willing to answer them, in fact his face brightens up when you raise your hand. He tells you what you need to know for the 3 tests that are 20 short answers, no cumulative final.
Second time taking Bunger, loved class as always. He really knows his stuff and is extremely passionate about Eastern religions and it shows. There's only three assignments through (two tests and one 10 page paper), and unless you go to every class you wont have any of the information.. He's extremely kind and a wonderful teacher.
There's a lot of note taking so you kinda have to pay attention, but he really knows what he's talking about. Only 3-4 tests and if you take notes it won't be too hard. This isn't the first time I've had him he's one of my favorite professors. He requires books and they are helpful, but not as mandatory as you might think.
Okay, straight up, you'll have about 3 pages of notes after each lecture. That's a given but I missed a ton of class for family issues and personal issues, but he always managed to help find a way for me to pass. He is really there for his students and loves what he does. If you have an option to take him, choose him.
Mr. Bunger is a very old school teacher. His classes are lectures only and the tests are not multiple choice. But the tests come straight from his lectures so go to class and take good notes.
Dr. Bunger is great! His tests are challenging, but you will do fine as long as you show up and take notes. He is always there if you have a question to ask, and will be excited to answer. He will help your grade as long as you don't miss classes. His lectures are kind of boring, and you will have to write stuff down as he talks.
Professor Bunger is a very sweet, older man but his lectures are very old school. His lectures consist of him reading from a binder filled with his written notes and he tends to go off on tangents making it difficult to follow along.
He knows his stuff. Very easy class, if you PAY ATTENTION and come to class. He is the sweetest old man you will ever meet, and he really cares if you do. He welcomes students to his office, so come by for questions! He has required reading, but he teaches in detail, so you might be able to get away with not reading.
He does not lecture off of PowerPoints, but from a binder with handwritten notes. He often writes the important information on the board. He is extremely brilliant and makes cultural anthropology entertaining because of the experience he has had in the field.
Dr. Bunger is amazing and so knowledgeable about almost anything. I've taken three of his classes and plan to take more. He is very old school, he reads his notes out of his binder and does not use PowerPoints. If you don't attend class, you won't pass. Tests are all essays in blue books. Very helpful in and outside of class.
Always willing to answer questions and is very helpful with anything you may be struggling with. I first took this class just for fun, but it really sparked my intrest in anthropology. He is not only a great professor, he is a great human being. I have taken several of his classes and would recommend him to anyone.
Ring my friend, I said you call Doctor Robert Day or night he'll be there any time at all, Doctor Robert Doctor Robert, you're a new and better man He helps you to understand, He does everything he can, Doctor Robert.
3 Exams and attendance are your only grades. GO TO CLASS, take 2 pages of notes a day, and study! He is so caring and reminds me of a grandfather. A real gem of a professor.
Awesome professor! I learned a lot. Take great notes....a lot of notes & you will pass with an A.
I love Dr. Bunger. He is the sweetest professor and cares for everyone.
10/10 would recommend!! one of the best professors i have ever had! He still says hi to me when every he sees me! I was not sure about him the first day of class but i am so glad i stayed! I would take any class he teaches given the chance. He doesn't use Blackboard or power point so take note! ask questions! he's the most knowledgeable person evr
Dr. Bunger was key to my success in this class. I took it fall semester of my freshman year and it was the best decision I made. Attendance is mandatory (you get 3 free for whatever-- each past that is a point deducted from your next test). Books aren't necessary because he covers everything in class. STUDY--there are only 3 exams (including final)
Such a sweet guy! I seriously love his class and you can tell how passionate he is about everything in his lectures. He has some great stories from experiences all over the world. The lectures are all written on the whiteboard in class, he doesn't use blackboard. There's only 3 exams, they're all blue book exams, but he's an easy grader!
It all comes down to your learning style. His teaching is very old school. No power points, no blackboard. He lectures out loud and it's your job to take notes on what is said. He does write some key vocabulary on the board but overall his teaching style is oral. He only communicates through email. All that aside he really is a great professor.
Tests are all essay but a great old man who really cares about his students. Pay attention as much as you can and write down everything he says. No powerpoint, everything is from his mouth so be prepared! He knows so much about what he teaches.
He is such an amazing old man. He is very sweet and caring. He doesn't use powerpoint or blackboard, so you have to come to class and actually pay attention to get your notes but he is very clear. STUDY STUDY STUDY. Do not wait until the last minutes because you will fail the exams. Other than that, I'd 100% recommend him.
Dr. Bunger is the best professor I have ever had in my entire life. He is an inspiration to students. His classes are incredibly interesting and he really cares about his students. I would recommend that everyone take him. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met as well. Could not say enough good things about him!
If you're interested in the class at all, then it won't be hard. He's like listening to a grandfather tell you stories, so be ready to takes notes all class. It can be boring and fun here and there only 3 exams, but he is very understanding if you ever need to reschedule or need more time to do it.
We had 3 grades in the class: 2 tests and a research paper. Dr. Bunger would occasionaly take an entire class for us to look at the pictures of what he was lecturing about. When it comes to his grades, it is almost impossible to get a 0 on a test. He did give us study guides for the class.
Dr. Bunger is by far my favorite professor. He doesn't use blackboard or powerpoints, so all the lectures are just him talking. He is so caring about his students, if you need help and reach out he's got you. His abundance of knowledge is crazy!! If you have the chance to take one of his classes I absolutely recommend you do!!
Dr. Bunger is one of the best professors/teachers I have ever had in my entire life. A truly inspirational man, he helped me to decide what I truly wanted to pursue a degree in. I can think of nothing negative to say about him. His lectures are great. He requires textbooks but you dont have to read them to pass. Go to class, listen. Youll do great!
I took Dr. Bunger class over the summer and I went to class and just listened to him talk and show many different pictures about things he done and we had three test I'm telling you his test was identical to the lectures he taught there's no way you can fail his class if you ever have to take anthropology take it with him.
Such a sweet old man! He really cares about his students. It is a lecture class and can be boring if you don't enjoy learning about different cultures. The only grades are the 3 tests but if you take good notes and listen they are a breeze. Bumped my A- to an A. Don't bother reading the books he will only test on what he says in class.
Dr. Bunger is such a sweet guy and loves to talk about his experiences. When it comes to understanding the material, it comes down to your learning style. He does not use powerpoints or blackboard, but lectures strictly off of handwritten notes. Pay attention and take good notes and you'll be just fine!
Thought this class would be an easy A or B due to the high ratings. It was not. Tests are 20 open ended questions no mutiple choice. No other grades to help boost your grade, only exams. Its a lot of content to learn. Take lots of notes and study them everyday.
My dad took Dr. Bunger's class in the 70's and I was still able to take him last year. He is the best and most laid back professor at ECU. He really just tells stories about his life mostly and if you can recall anything about what he said for the exam you'll get an A. The only way you could fail is if you don't show up I guess.
