Very, very, very, very GOOD teacher. Will do everything possible to help you.
Rob is a fabulous teacher, he goes out of his way to help you get through the class as long as you're willing to put forth the effort.
Best math professor at RVC
Prof. Clark makes math so easy. His exams come right off the homework problems. Always helpful; very friendly. If you learn the material, there is no reason not to do well.
Poor job teaching and communicating. Stay away if you don't know what you are doing from the start.
That last one had to be disgruntled! Clark is an excellent teacher and goes out of his way to help you learn -- IF you're prepared and willing to learn!
Does not teach.
Ignore all the bad comments. Those people didn't put any effort. Truly one of the best math teachers ever! Always willing to help, and a funnry guy.If you know the material, it will be easy.
He was not the best teacher I have ever had, to say the least. He stresses major topics in the class and the tests are not full of these topics...instead there will be a lot of random minor problems that he barely covers. Many people dropped!
Rob is a wonderful teacher. I am not a math wiz, but after taking his class I took Calculus. He is strict but is fair in grading. He took so much extra time to help me when I had problems. He cares about his students.
I had him for trig, he was awesome. He does very well explaining formulas work. Homework was not worth points, just the tests. All tests had problems that were almost identical to any practice problems. If you do the practice problems, you're fine.
The BEST math teacher EVER!
Very easy to understand.
Funny, very clear and helpufl. Best math teacher at Rock Valley!!
Good Professor. Explains subject well.
good teacher, he makes it possible to pass if you have a good math foundation
Does not teach, does not talk with students, no communication, careless teacher. Stay away should not be teaching.
If you are prepared and willing to put in the effort, this guy is an excellent teacher. If you are not prepared and/or not trying to learn, you drop or fail and end up writing bad reviews here.
un-cooperative, rude, un willing to help
He's a very nice guy, but not a nice teacher. I don't agree with the acedemic probation at all. but if you work hard like you are suppose to, then it shouldn't be so bad!
he is an awesome teacher. always willing to work through any questions that you may have. explains things in a way that is easily undesrstood. stays after class to help students and never makes you feel dumb, even if you ask the easiest question.
he makes math easy and is available for help always. I am really bad at math and I got a b in his class.Im usually a d student in math.
Best instructor I've ever had for any subject. Strict grader, but he explains math in a way others don't. Always makes it a point to simplify a complex problem by showing you the same concept in an easyer form. He doesn't stumble when asked an obscure question like most teachers. Very knowledgable!
GREAT TEACHER! Wish I had him for 098. One of the coolest teachers I've had.
**** .. jokes around way too much!!
he's pretty dope. .he reminds me of kevin smith . .aka. SILENT BOB.
i thought that he was an excellent teacher
He is an excellent teacher. I've never seen a math teacher actually try and explain things with as much patience and logic that Mr. Clark does. Anyone that struggles in Math should take him. I would recommend him to anyone.
Great teacher with a good sense of humor.Reminds you of Tom Arnold, and he explains the problems so clearly a tutor is not required!! wish I could take him for MTH 220. Would Recommend him to anyone!!!
He doesn't tell you if your on the right track when taking a test. My previous teacher at least helped. No cheat sheet nothing. This guy truly pisses me off. His grading scale of 50 points sucks. You can't miss to many or else you fail. And believe me I just took my first test and its true its only one test but an F can really get you down.
Well I've officially failed the 2nd test. So now thats 2 F's. I can't ask him if i'm on the right track nothing. The people that recommeded this guy to me a real ****s. I won't make this same mistake again when I take the class with a real teacher. Not this nonsense jerk. Anyway stay away from this guy unless your a math genius.
If you don't care about your grade, then don't do the homework. If you do the homework, (optional) and actually pay attention, there is NO reason you should fail his class. He is very clear and gives LOTS of hints. I do disagree with no pretest from him, but that is my only issue. He makes time for you and online if necessary!
Some people need to get a clue. This is college and teachers are not supposed to help you during tests! Ask your questions before the tests! Clark is helpful and understandable. You can learn a lot from this guy if you don't expect him to hold your hand and baby you.
He most certainly IS helpful. He is very clear and not that terribly hard. If you fail his class it is NOT because of him. I think you skipped out on your recommended assignments. You can not just look at the problems and pass. You actually have to DO them!
I think people that gave this guy a bad rating must've been in a different class all together or are just plain confused. This guy is the bomb, and teaches the material so well, I hardly had to refer to the text book examples to do the homework. Amazing.
Great teacher, the best teacher ive ever had for math. Hes very helpful and I love how structure his class was..

Both times an A! Very structured, explains things well, always halpful, grades on your work -not right answer!! If people did bad its because they never asked for his help or a tutor's or they didnt do homework! 132 not recommended for people who have never had experience in College Alg. or Trig. only for those out of practice! AWESOME TEACHER! Always begging people to ask questions to make sure students know what they are doing!
I was failing at midterm so I dropped this class. Took it again with professor Frisk and got an A. Clark is rather condescending and annoying, almost to the point of making class a complete chore. I recommend another teacher if you don't consider math to be one of your strong points. Plus he looks like Kevin Smith, but never says anything funny.
RVC has all the best Math professors. Yet, Mr Clark was the first teacher who taught exactly how a Math teacher suppose to be. I look at him as my role model as a Math major. His teaching is absolutely awesome and he knows each students capability and seriousness in his class. He knows how to make Math approachable. He is one teacher I recommend.
I forgot everything about algebra and he fixed that. He is very easy to understand.
I love Clark. I was out for a week with the flu and after being back for 2 weeks, he totally helped me get completely caught up. I really like how he hands out a tremendous amount of handouts, makes the book less needed. Also homework is not handed in even though doing it helps a lot (The test questions are just the homework questions!)
he is a great teacher, explains things thoroughly and always stops and asks if everyone understands the information or if anyone has any questions. He is extremely helpful! Trig is a very hard class and is used all throughout calculus, so pay attention!!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Always knows exactly what he is talking about, and does an AMAZING job at explaining everything. Really nice & very funny. There is no way you can fail his class because he is always willing to help if you need it. I recommend him!!
I love Mr. Clark! Be forewarned, however, that you must do the homework (even though it is not required). If you fall behind, you are in major trouble. Calculus is not easy, but Mr. Clark makes it fun!
Doesnt get through all the material in each section, and then expects you to understand the material that he didnt cover.......USELESS!!
Homework assigned isn't turned in, but make sure you do it. Overall an awsome professor.
Excellent instructor. Always presents the material in a very clear and understandable manner. He knows exactly what he is doing and always offers to help. Clark keeps the class interesting and entertaining. Highly recommended.
Clark made me feel like i was in high school all over again! If you do bad in one of his test he will put you on probation and if you dont get your grade up he will drop you from his class. He's an alright teacher.
A very organized teacher who explains things really well. Pretty strict on slackers and goof-offs, but he should be. If your not gonna put in the effort don't take his class! On the other hand, if you hold up your end of the deal, he'll really help you learn math.
DOESNT EXPLAIN ANYTHING AND EXPECTS YOU TO KNOW EVERYTHING. PRETTY USELESS.
Work hard and you will not have a hard time
Professor Clark is a nice man. However he is not able to go ever all the material so he expects you to know it and learn it on your own. There is not enough time in his class to learn what he is trying to teach. His tests are very hard, and the problems are different than in MML. If you can teach yourself algebra II take this class.
Clark is an AWESOME teacher!! I had Lebid before him and I had no clue what she was talking about. Now, Algebra seems easy. He explains everything so detailed and easy to understand and always asks if we have questions. He is a nice guy, easy to talk to and is very personable with the class. I would FOR SURE recommend him!!!!!!!
I had him a while back for precalc. He's a great prof. as long as you put effort in.I constantly used his office hours(even when I wasn't in his class anymore)for math problems.Best part of the class is that he'll sometimes come to class in a kilt. His kilt for National Tartan Day(spring) is way better than his Halloween kilt(fall). Take his class!
Clark is an amazing teacher. He will help you if you have any questions. I personally hate math and an not good at it at all but Clark just makes math easy and fun. By far the best math teacher at RVC.
This guy really knows how to break things down and explain them to you. I took him for Trig, and this guy went passed just telling you to memorize this and that, but actually explained how everythings works. Top Notch, and I will be taking him for Calc in fall.
Trigonometry isn't exactly the easiest class, but he does everything he can to make it easier for you. He uses lots of handouts, so, like he tells you at the beginning of class, keep them organized. Study your handouts, the specified parts of the book, and the study guide and you'll be fine. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had.
He is not a good teacher. I feel like he does not help you in anyway. Precalc is a hard class and he only does problems. He doesn't let you do the problems except for homework. He does the problems for you. He gives answers not helping.
Not a good teacher. Doesn't make homework required to turn iun and all class grade is based on is tests, which sucks if you are a bad test taker.
His teaching method is perfect for mathematics. Or at least it suits my learning style. The hardest part is having the discipline to practice, practice, practice. Or else you will not retain anything from the lectures.
I wasn't very fond of the way he taught his class. I REALLY didn't like how the only components that counted for your grade in the class was tests and the final. He gave homework assignments but they weren't mandatory. How does that motivate people to work? It doesn't..
Mr Clark is a pretty good teacher. This was not an easy course. You have to do all the homework and study hard for the tests. Buy the solutions manual. It helps. Don't get behind on the homework. Do well in the class at the beginning because the tests get harder. Test 3 is a killer. Get a tutor right away. I got an A in this class but it was hard.
Great teacher. No, homework is not turned in for a grade but that is how you learn, by doing the problems. He tells you which problems to work on to prepare for the tests. Tests judge what you have learned, why should your grade be based on anything else. He even gives extra credit for signing the syllabus. Not easy, but nothing worth doing is.
Seems like a nice person. Not a very good professor. Math is not my strong subject but i do ok. This class i have nit learned anything. He is unwilling to help. Does not explain things clearly. I have been trying very hard in this class and i just dont get it. the homework that I do that isnt worth any points. Just grades tests. Wont grade my tests in any detail anymore because of poor scores. So now i dont even know what im doing wrong. DO NOT TAKE CLARK!
Clark is a great man. He makes decent jokes and is quite clear with his explanations. If you have the chance ask him if you can buy some of his honey that he sells. I would take him again no doubt!
I took a trig/algebra 3 class in high school and now a year later am taking them again, after taking my trig class with clark, i can say that you should avoid him. He's a cool guy, but unfortunately doesn't require you to do any homework so if you're like me you'll probably have a really hard time making yourself do it, and you'll end up struggling
I took Clark for trig, calc 1, and calc 2. He is very good at explaining his lecture material. However, he is a hard grader! Homework is not graded, tests are the only grades if you are not good at tests dont take Clark. He was very helpful, and I learned alot from him. I got a C in trig, B in clac 1, and a B in calc 2. Awesome teacher!
If you are a bad test taker, AVOID HIM. If you want to learn, don't take him. He hands out fill in the blank note packets and you easily get distracted in his class.
Mr. Clark is one of the best TEACHERS I've ever had. The way he explains the material is superb! However, you can not expect to just show up to class and get the grade you want. You actually have to work for it. The only points that count are tests, he does not make homework mandatory. But this is college, people. You are responsible for yourself.
Excellent Professor who really knows his material.
Mr. Clark is a great teacher. He breaks things down to a simple level and is very helpful. I think he gets poorly rated because students don't want to put in the time or work into the class. You just have to pay attention and do the homework even though homework is mandatory. If u do the homework u will do fine on the tests.
Clark is a really intelligent and helpful guy. Unfortunately his tests are EXTREMELY difficult. We took five tests total and those were the only factors in our grade. He IS a good teacher, just a little over demanding on knowing the and material PERFECTLY. If you are going into the a field aimed at Math definitely take him, if not RUN!
I took his online class and it was very well organized and I always knew what to do. If he noticed you struggling in the class he personally emailed you to make sure everything was going okay. Great, easy online class with him.
He really understands the content and it great at explaining it as long as you know the prerequisite material. Trig isn't an easy class no matter how you look at it...
FILL IN THE BLANK NOTE PACKETS. If you are not one to learn like this, do not take his course. The only grades in the class are 5 tests (including the final exam).
This teacher can improve a lot more on his teaching styles. He grades very hard and very inconsistent to other math teachers. His format on tests is very confusing and sometimes misleading as to what the test wants. I wouldn't recommend this teacher if you actually want to learn something because I had to teach myself to learn the subject
Clark's cool and friendly. Looks like a teddy bear. Good at explaining, does many example problems, and answers any questions you may have. BUT! The only grades you get are 4 tests and the final. So if you mess up once, its really hard to recover. Its a pretty hard class, but that's partially due to the difficulty of the material.
Very unhelpful, and has been avoiding me since finals. Ended class with a 69.7%, and he emailed me before finals saying my perfect attendance would help borderline grades. Needless to say he stuck me with the D+ grade. Seems to be very egotistical , and thinks he's more indoctrinated than he is. I don't see the gratification for not answering.
If you are going to take his class you need to be self disciplined. He gives you note packets and the homework isn't mandatory (but do it anyway!). He is excellent at explaining things and is extremely helpful. I took a different professor for math this semester, but I still go to him for help when I don't understand something.
Clark is a fair teacher. He does not grade homework but still assigns it. If you want to get a good grade, DO THE HOMEWORK. Even though it's not graded, it will help you immensely on the test. He is a very friendly and helpful professor. Whenever I would get a good grade on the test, he would personally write my a congratulatory message in Eagle.
He talks A LOT and goes off topic often. He doesn't stick to the point of a problem, he will say "this is why you cant do this..." in the middle of the very first step of the example. If you need more than a couple examples to understand what you're actually doing, don't expect it from him. He does maybe 5 ex. for two chapters per class.
Clark is very approachable and means well but gets off topic often with irrelevant details which causes you to lose sight of how to do the problem. I would come home from his class and watch MML or Youtube vidoes to understand the material. I also found contradictions in what he taught us and what MML said was correct.
Tests are the only grades so be sure to study. Homework is not for credit but you need to do it for your sake or you wont do well. Office hours are extremely helpful (especially for the trig identities chapter 3.1-4).
He tries to be as helpful as he can, but sometimes he does fall short in making the material clear in class, and often gets lost on tangents in the middle of doing examples. Most of your grade is determined by four tests and a final, all of which are challenging, but he does give points for work shown on all but the final, so make sure you show it.
As the online class, all homework and exams were through MyMathLab but were fairly easy.
Professor Clark knew his material and made sense when explaining trig material, but the only thing he graded were 4 tests. This made it hard to get in any extra points in to help your grade out, since tests are worth many points. He hand-graded tests, which he graded very strictly. After all my math classes I took at RVC, this one was the hardest.
Professor Clark was by far the toughest grader I've ever had. He is a nice guy and is willing to help but the fact that we only had 4 exams as our grade made it really hard to get a good grade. I would not recommend taking him.
Many, many, many years after taking Mr. Clark's class, he is the only person I consistently reference in my business life as an educator that I respect and found inspirational. If you actually listen/ask, he has the ability to break down complex problems into a simple form that most people can understand. That's a talent I always strive towards.
iF YOU WANT TO LEARN CALCULUS AND PASS THE CLASS TAKE THIS CLASS WITH PROFESSOR CLARK. HE IS REALLY ORGANIZED, AVAILABLE AND HE WILL ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE AND REDO EXERCISES/HOMEWORK THAT YOU WERE NOT ABLE TO DO ON YOUR OWN. DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND ATTEND CLASS.
He is great professor. If you want to learn and pass the class take this professor. He is very caring to all his students . He will answer your questions and explain it till you understand well . I recommend everyone to this professor. The best math professor:)
He is such a good teacher!! So caring and approachable when you need help. He emails you personally if you do amazing on a test or even if he feels youre struggling and need some help. He DEFINITELY makes you work for your grade though. DO THE HOMEWORK, even though he doesnt grade it. KNOW the prerequisite material. YOUR GRADE WILL DEPEND ON IT.
He makes you list EVERY SINGLE STEP on the test. Even down to the basic steps of adding and subtracting a single digest on one side of the equal sign to the other. He talks to much and you can tell he that he likes to hear himself talk about math. EXTREMELY repetitive and makes you feel like your in high school. Would not recommend.
Prof Clark is in my top 3 professors at Rock Valley. He is super caring and friendly, you'll never feel intimidated by him or scared to ask questions. His lectures were thorough and he tells you exactly what he expects of you from day 1. He's not a tough grader - gives a lot of partial credit on test questions if you show your work. He's the best!
