Show up, listen, memorize, = A!! Funny, cute, entertaining. Yes, I am describing an Economics instructor!
Very helpful and easy to follow study guide!! Take this professor!! If you memorize the study guide you are basically granted a B, the rest is lecture!
Makes Economics bearable. Most of exams are from study guide.
Do the study guide, and reading the book really isn't necessary, it's easy. The only thing is his lectures are not clear, so taking notes in his class are a joke. Taking lecture notes are not necessary at all.
As long as you read and study the study guide you'll be fine... you don't have to read the book.. I didnt read the book and studied only from the study guide and I got an A on my midterm.. as for going to class I usually don't go because there's no point!
So easy take the class. I don't go to class or read the book. All you have to do is memorize the study guide, which takes you one night. Easy A for most all students. Gives large extra credits on each test. About 10 points.
TEST ARE BASICALLY STRAIGHT OUT OF THE STUDY GUIDE. HIS CLASS ISSO EASY. HE IS FUNNY & KIND OF DORKY, WHICH IS JUST WHAT YOU NEED WHEN TAKING ECONOMICS.
test are straight from study guide, need to buy it, book is not recommended,He wrote both so goes over somewhat. makes eco. enjoyable, but need to read alot.4 test. 2 quartlys midterm final extra credit in all
super annoying but class is really simple. don't waste money buying the book, just get the study guide. claims he will begin give extra credit for attendence beginning fall 2004 semester.
very easy prof! next semester he may start taking role though. i never attended lectures and have a 101 in his class.
Total goober, but funny as hell. Study guide is all you need. He expects his students to act like adults in class. He loves to take away ceel phones and bust people for talking, but hey, I'm getting pretty tired of the high scholl mentality around here.
He's a real goofy guy. Jokes straight from tha 50's or something, but he's a good teacher. The tests are straight from tha study guide. Pretty much you'll learn if u want to learn, but also an easy A and an easier B.
study the study guide
You dont really need to attend class but I deffinatly recommend it. He wrote the book and study guide. Both are very well written and give great examples. You do have to do some work but there is no reason you shouldnt walk out with a B in the course.
His classes are boring and there is no point in going to them. The tests are straight out of the study guide. I just cramed everything a day before the test and made an easy A. I will highly recommend him to anyone who wants an easy up in GPA.
His lectures are a little boring and not really a must to attend. Get the study guide and learn the multiple choice questions.
he's a great professor, he's very funny and makes economics kinda interesting. the study guide is a must. it has chapter summaries in it, so don't waste your $ on the text. a great professor to take eco with.
easy class and he's kind of fun...get the study guide thats all u need...i got an A hardly doin' nething
Dr. Collinge is a great professor. He is very helpful and genuinely interested in teaching. He literally wrote the textbook he teaches out of, and in his case, this is a great thing! He is an entertaining person as he seems very lively and happy.
he is a great teacher very lively and willing to help. just follow the study guide he wrote and has you buy and you should do great. you don't really need the textbook just the study guide.
He's a happy guy who hops around a lot. Explains a lot with graphs, and that helps. Wants people to do well, and reallly seems to enjoy student participation. Just go to class and do the study guide before tests, and it'll all be OK.
He is clear but not too easy
His class isnt too easy but you can pass if you do the study guide and read the book. He gives lots of extra credit too. very nice guy. goofy!
Good professor who likes to see students succeed, he does not like u to leave class early. Has many resources to help u pass, powerpoint helped me out a bunch. He gives curves on test and extra credit. Everything he covers in class will be on test. A happy man but u will ****him off if uleave early
Let me start by saying, I do not like Economics and although he doesn't take attendance, he made me want to go because he makes me laugh and likes to teach. The review sessions and the study guide are also really helpful. I'm glad that I took HIS class instead of someone else's.
Very good professor. Took him in Fall 2003. My class had 3(!) professor turnovers (Dr. Bruner got sick, and two others left us). He really helped us out at the end. I was worried about the constant turnovers, so I studied immensely for this class. He DOES get annoyed if you leave early.
great teacher
dr. collinge is a spectacular teacher! i was kinda nervous about eco before taking him, but if you show up, listen, and do the study guide you will do great in his class. he really does want his students to do well and gives everyone a chance to do so, as long as you're not lazy and actually try!
He's a nice guy, I passed the class, but his lecutures are boring usually. overall he's pretty good. just study the study guide and try to go to class. NEVER WALK OUT EARILY.
this guy acts like he's on coke. he's constantly moving, talks real fast, and its hard to write anything down that he's saying. his tests are hard, but the study guide helps. I hated this class with a passion, it just plain sucked for me. Just to un-uniform for me.
This class was a big class so it was hard to get the help you needed and there is SI which didn't help much. I didn't understand the lecture and it was hard. The study guide was overwhelming with stuff to know. So you can't ever get behind in class or you'll have problems.
I came in the semester late by two weeks, we had three different teches I was failing until he started to teach and somehow I managed to get a B! Go to see him after class and converse to him about mix-politics with eco show some intrest and he will help
Dr. Collinge turns an extremely boring class into a fun class. He encourages classroom participation. Since he authored the book his lectures are consistant with the book. You can't go wrong if you take his class.
Great guy with lots of enery & enthusiasm to teach!Lectures r kinda boring, tests kinda hard but study guide helps. Doesnt take attendance but gives extra credit everyday. Alright class
weird guy, but loves economics. i never seemed to get any of it. writes very few notes. BUY THE STUDY GUIDE it will help alittle.
this guy is on the odd side but definetly knows his stuff. i haven't personally gone up to talk to him but i've heard he's pretty easy to work with. i recommend to all!!
Read the study guide and do the pre-tests. He makes class fun, sometimes his jokes don't get through though. Overall, take him over other Economics professor. Cheers
When I took this class the tests where exactly like the study guide. Read the study guide and do the example problems for every chapter that will be on the test. I went to class almost every day, barely took any notes, and never opened the textbook once. I made an A.
Hated economics before, but he makes it fun. He is very enthusiastic, and I enjoy showing up for class. He kinda brightens your day.
Buy and use the study guide faithfully, you're going to need it. Read the text, use the study guide. Use the study guide. Use the study guide. 'Nuf said.
cool teacher, lecutre can tend to drag, but he is funny at times, reall laid back professors, gives curves on tests, i hate economics, but found myself pulling a B out of the class, BUY the study guide, he made it, and he puts a good majority of questions on the test from it, overall, cool professor
there are probably easier profs than him. i don't like eco so it was boring to me. his lectures go over the book- attendance helps a lot b/c the activities (you'll need a scantron almost every class). do the study guide! study ahead and keep up with the text. don't leave during his lectures!!
He's an okay guy, but his class is kind of boring. He has apretty good sense of humor though. He does offer extra points on a daily basis. They go towards your final grade. Study really hard and keep up with your reading, and you should be okay.
A boring class yes.. but he makes it as fun as political economics can get. No class work except for a couple tests. Study and you'll pass easily.
HE WAS THE BEST - A WONDERFUL,FUNNY PROFESSOR; WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE HAVING TO TAKE ECONOMICS; THE TEST ARE EASY AND HE FAITHFULLY FOLLOWS HIS SYLLABUS-TAKE HIM- U WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED
He is the best teacher ever! take him if you need any economics classes... he wrote his own book with Professor Ayers... gives you alot of study material , very easy understanding, very funny and goofy... made me want to come to class everyday!
Im horrible with anything math related, and I had no economics course in highschool. I also did not buy the study guide and I passed with a C. I defintely recommend this teacher, he acts just like a cartoon character.
the most unoranized person i know. his lectures are so boringggggg. the absolut worst professor at UTSA!!!!!!!! do not take his class
Collinge was awesome. Great sense of humor. It wasn't my favorite subject but listening to Dr. Collinge always made me laugh. 25% of the test material came from the study guide verbatim since he wrote the text.

he is the absolute worst professor i have had at UTSA!!!!!!
I took kis micro economic class with him. He's an awesome teacher, great sense of humors, the tests are not easy but not too hard, just read the book and study the study guide, you will be fine. I got an A in this class, even though I didn't study a lot. Definitely recommend him
He's great,,,funny guy and grades off a scale of 110%.. tests are hard ---study guide really important gives curves and chances....would take again
He is a good professor to some but very hard to listen to. If you speak out in class you better say something that you think he might want to hear or he will make fun of you. The study guide is a big help. From all the other reviews he sounds easy btu I think he is one of the most boring teachers! If you do take him make sure to go to TA sessions
Overall great teacher. Some tests are easy, some are hard. Yea he does make fun of people sometimes, but hes not mean-spirited. LOTS of chances for extra credit (attendance adds up to 10 points to your final grade), and his TAs are excellent.
This class was an EASY A.You just have to study the study guide for sure. The TA's make it sound hard, but it's not hard unless you make it hard. SI sessions really help you know what is on the exam. I would recommend going to them. I never read the book at all just focused on the study guide and looked up charts in the book to study for the exams.
This instructor is awsome! Class is funny and fairly easy to follow. Daily chances for extra credit add to final grade (makes a huge difference). Just get the study guide and go to class and you are sure to get an A.
he took over for dr. ayers so he was only teaching our class for about 3 weeks before the end of the semester. sort of scatterbrained, not webct competent at all. no chance for extra credit. lectures went quickly, supposed to be an hour and 15 minute class, usually only took 45 min. take him if you want a class that goes by quickly
I'm sure he knows his stuff, but not a very good teacher. He jumps all over the place. He doesn't fully explain what he is teaching. A lot of it is in the book and study guide. He doesn't like people talking, or reading newspapers in his class and he likes to point people out and make an example out of them.
I don't know what to say about him since he was told to teach the class the last 1month of class since our previous teacher left. He does jump all of the place=goofy. He seems like he's nice but the minute you piss him off(talking in class) he will go off on you(witnessed it multiple times). STUDY STUDY STUDY=STUDY GUIDE AND BUY IT!!!!
Ummm, this was about the easiest class I've ever taken. To be honest I just showed up and napped most of the time. Tests are multiple choice and you get extra credit just for going to class. Never studied almost never stayed awake in class and I still got an A.
He took over our class in the last month and did a really good job. He speaks like he has marbles in his mouth but if you give it just a little time, you will understand him. He tries to be funny and make eco (which is dull) interesting. And as for the person whining about the talkers -- why socialize in class -- go to a party.
Economics, in general ,is really hard for me and it was very hard to concentrate in his class, but hes pretty goofy so he keeps it somewhat interesting. the tests arent hard if you read the text, thoroughly, and do the study guide questions. He curves a lot and gives attendence extra credit!! i ended up with a high B.
Would definitely recommend taking this prof. Very understandable lectures even in very large class. Exams were not overly difficult. Didn't have to read the text very much and still made a high B, just off the notes.
he seriously made me laugh every time i went to class. he is so goofy that you want to go to class to see what he is going to do next. made economics very easy and more interesting. would def take a class with him again
he is so funny, but you know i have a rule to never take a class from the professor who writes the book.
Buy the study guide and use it! I made the mistake of not using it the 1st test and got an F. On my midterm i studied it a bit and got a B. He does tend to jump around alot, goofy teacher, and beware of his messy handwriting. Plus he gives extra credit everyday.
Crazy little man, but tests come straight from review.
His notes look like chicken scratch and are really unorganized/hard to read too..yet hes a great guy and really goofy. Study guide is a MUST, atleast 1/3 of it will be on test. He usually curves BIG TIME. If you do all the daily assignments on the parscore (which he walks u through) , you'll get ***10*** points added to your final grade!
VERY complicating, had to take the class twice b/c i couldnt understand him. yes, DO the parSCOREs everyday and you'll probably pass. oh yeah, he curves LOTS of tests. nice guy, tries hard to help you to get it... it just seems like he cant.
go to class, take notes, and do the parScores (almost everyday). Most tests are curved and don't really cover anything outside of the notes. Easy class if you can make sense of what he's saying and can tell when he's strayed off topic (does it quite a bit)
he is hard to understand, and his notes are pretty sloppy, but if you go almost everyday, and do the parscores thats like 24 points on your grade, just go to the reviews for the test and you'll do fine.
buy his study guide, do the work, and you WILL get A's on the tests. easy way to get an A.
he is a bad prof. just goes off on rambles about how coke is better than pepsi but UTSA only sells pepsi... he wrote his book so he never teaches it or tells you where he is in it, he just rambles. his tests are nothing like his class. if you dont get it he looks at you like your nuts.
great teacher. very quarky and amusing. very passionate about economics. when you are studying for his tests, STUDY THE GRAPHS HE GIVES!!if you do that, you will be guaranteed an A.
Dr. Collinge is one of the few sensible professors I've had. He is a realist. He does not have his own liberal agenda, plus he acts fairly normal. It's a shame he has to deal with such crummy students, but that's what happens when the course is part of the core curriculum. He is perhaps too generous. Only an idiot would fail this course.
Assigns the book and study guide he co-wrote. Buying both is expensive, but NECESSARY. He teaches pretty well and likes participation. Try to sit near the front; he writes notes on the overhead, but has very messy handwriting.
Intro to Political Economy was super easy and he was very clear at explaining it. I have a couple of gripes though I really think its unprofessional for profs to assign their own books for a course. It feels like a racket. Second, this guy is a hack for the Oil industry. Talk to him sometime about oil problems; he'll spew industry talking points
Honors Class really isn't that hard. his notes are hard to read, but nothing to really complain about. Highly energetic and can be confusing at times. He did write the ECO book, but the book helps explain better. do review questions in the back and you should be fine. Take him if possible.
Gave examples in lecture but not enough for me to learn much. Read the book and study the graphs and you will do good on the tests.
Okay prof. his penmanship is horrible but besides that his class is manageable. He really cares about his students passing and gives bonus points on tests. His lectures are some what confusing but as long as you read the chapters you'll do fine.
Very good Prof. Very funny too. Definetly recommend taking him.
Easy going, but sometimes have to do self-study. Student responsibility is required in the class to get an A.
Really good professor. Definetly recommend over other economic profs. Only problem is his handwriting. He is also very quarky which I found very humorous at times.
Buy the study guide, helps alot. Gave us 8 extra credit points added on to your grade. Reminded me of Daffy Duck (Good thing), he's pretty funny and his class was good if you just read and studied. Good luck! Do problems in the back of the book too
He gives quizzes every week on a certain day in the week. These quizzes are "give me" points. He tries to make his class interesting with student involvement. Study the study guides if you want to pass his exams. I have never read the book, only the study guide and I have passed every exam. He gives extra credit too. very helpful professor
Fun professor! Keeps you laughing throughout the entire class. Study the study guide and old tests and you will do fine! Questions in the back of the text book helps too. Definitely recommend!!!
Just WONDERFUL! <3 He made me want to come to class everyday, and I HATED economics before this class! He related it to real world and current situations which made it interesting, and I learned a lot. Really, very easy. Everything is clearly explained in class, but if you have any problems, the book is very clear and easy to understand. A+++++
Awesome! My favorite professor at UTSA. He's funny, he keeps things interesting, and he knows what he's talking about. I definitely recommend taking economics with him!
his class isn't easy but not the hardest. it's better if you buy the study guide instead of the textbook. if you study the multiple choice Qs on the guide you'll more than likely pass his tests. he gives plenty of extra credit. you get points just for going to class & filling out a parscore. it's an okay class.
Not a big fan of his teaching. He's funny and a bit nerdy but his lectures don't explain anything to do with what comes on the test! His test are extremely difficult but at least he gives you gimme points. He's okay I would not recommend him though
Prof. Robert Collinge is fantastic! If you are literate and go to class you will do very well in this class. Over 90% of the material on the exams was from the book. There was plenty of extra credit and after class assistance offered. IF you don't read and don't come to class to pay attention you will not do well. Get the study guide. I got an A+.
This is a lecture class so it is a good idea to attend. He has a study guide book that he takes a lot of questions for the test from. It is a really good idea to buy it. Sometimes he is hard to understand but overall he is a good teacher. He also has extra credit options.
Nice guy, NOT good at teaching. Brilliant at economics but is hard to follow. Hand writes notes in illegible writing, no slides/outlines but offers a lot of extra credit. Easy tests if you study. Attendance not mandatory, I rarely go. I suggest buying the textbook & just using that for everything. I have an A but I wish I didn't take him.
Seriously, very simple. Come to class and read the book. Get the study guide. Very straight forward.
Goffy guy. When I did go to class, I was always busting out laughing. Offeres a bada$$ 15 point to your TOTAL average extra credit quiz at the end of the semester. I didn't do too hot on my tests, rarely went to class, and ended up with a C. Buy the study guide, cause everyone I know who used it and studied for their tests got an A.
Very average, dry econ professor. Exceptionally fond of his charts. Many opportunities for bonus points, lectures are occasionally slowed by his horrid penmanship. If you understand Economics, you'll do fine.
well, he gives A LOT of extra credit during class, so attending is a good idea. His test questions come from the Study Guide. Its a very easy A, if you read the book, and go to class...well...if you're good at Eco going to class can be an option, but if you suck...the extra credit he gives during lecture will help you pass.
BUY THE STUDY GUIDE! I can't stress that enough. I never even opened the textbook but the guide saved me. He wrote it so test questions are copied directly out of it. He's a funny guy and constantly cracks jokes. His handwriting is atrocious, you need to be able to listen because good luck copying the notes. He provides lots of extra credit.
For Gods sake, BUY THE STUDY GUIDE, BUY THE STUDY GUIDE, BUY THE STUDY GUIDE. Forget the book. I studied by the book and didn't do well enough on exams so I bought the study guide and my exam grades improved so much! Attendance is important because he offers so many easy pop quizzes as extra credit.
Quirky Man. Lectures are not clear and scattered. But nice man and gives you SEVERAL extra credit opportunities that you can only get for attending class. Curves every exam reasonably. Tests are primarily knowing the vocabulary in the book HE WROTE.
Best teacher this semester! His lectures are clear, as are his expectations. Review the chapter before class and SHOW UP for the lecture and you'll score big with this one. He applies the principles to current events. There's no reason to fail this class. He's quirky and fun.
Pretty easy class as long as you read the book and do the questions along the chapters. Buy the study guide too, half the test questions come from there.. Shouldn't be too hard to get a high A if you read the book or pay attention in class. Also, he gives a lot of extra credit
Great intelligent teacher. Goes over stuff mildly fast in class, tests are mildly difficult. Use the online book pre tests they will help you learn.
Very nice. BUY THE BOOK. And the best part is that he wrote the it so his lectures are basically in the book. He just summarizes each section. His test are okay. buy the study guide he uses some questions from there. I got an A. He curves tests but go to class bc he gives extra credit. Read book for test!! it helps a lot!
I hate economics and made an A. I bought the textbook and study guide and used the study guide A LOT! go to class because he gives points which really help your grade.
