he is very interesting and helpfull in class but you will not get much from him by e-mail or phone. never answered an e-mail. i e-emailed him everyday for 10 days b4 the exam and i didnt get an answer. but he always keeps office hours.
He's an idiot. All he does is brag that he made it through law school. He often cancels classes for business meetings.
He is a great Instructor. Very professional and knowledgable.
he's all over the place, hard to follow and what he says in class does not correspond at all to what we read . its true he's always bragging about himself. He gets a little too excited and hyper probably, a great lawyer but not cracked up a teacher.
Lectures have little to do with the textbook. This guy really loves himself and isn't shy about letting the class know. Asking for any kind of additional information is like drawing blood from a stone.
Amazing teacher. Very professional, if you want someone who knows the topic inside out and practices it on a daily basis, Bob's the guy. Fair grader.
Good guy, keeps class interesting. He can get very animated about the subject matter. He'll go to great lengths to answer questions clearly and he's alright marker.
Professor Cox is the best poli sci teacher I ever had. His class is interesting and he is very helpful with providing "real-life" examples. I would take another class with Professor Cox anyday.
really interesting and sincere teacher that is extremely fair.to those who say he's high on himslef,he's just being honest about how hard it is to make it through law school(u prob can't).there for u on short notice,on your side.all round good guy.
Professor Cox is great! It's time for a teacher like Mr. Cox - he's easy going, although the class is not easy, he's fair when he marks and the topics discussed in class are very interesting. I'll take another one of his classes if it comes up.
lectures (if you can call them lectures) aren't connected to textbook. tells us how expensive his wife's valentine's present was. about the advice he gave her when she had a job interview. He'd be the type to come here and give himself a glowing rating.
The cours over all was very challenging. Lectures were clear to the point and the professor made the maximun effort for us to understand.
Nice guy, that's where it stops. Misses classes then tries to make it up by promising easy grading. Says he's not "allowed" to discuss certain subjects. Is afraid to talk about sensitive political issues. Talks about his wife and kid all the tim
He is very arrogant and he has unfavorable messages from this website erased. Says he wants a free and open class forum, but he'll burn you if you disagree with his opinions. I have stronger comments to makes but I worry that he'll have them deleted.
This guy isn't a very good professor. He took forever to submit his final grades. He word means absolutely nothing. His grading is difficult, and if you disagree with his radical leftist views, beware!
Please, just do your part by reading the book and understand it if you want to pass, he is fair professor, i would not like someone who never read the book to pass. He will pass those who deserve to pass, and "that's the button line because I said so
This class is super hard if you're not interested in the subject!!! (i.e me!)
Mr. cox is a very infromed and intelligent teacher. He is able to captivate the class and explain things in a clear manner. He teaches at everyone's level and always brings in interesting examples. Great speaker, teacher and probably a great lawyer.
Amazing Teacher!!!He makes his classes so interesting that you want to come to class. Makes dense and hard material very easy to understand. For those of u who say that he doesn't keep an open forum I disagree he just doesn't want to hear your wining about how the world is unfair...GREAT PROF!!!
Has a great overall knowledge of the subject material. Is understanding towards your needs if you approach him. Make-up classes are a nusance due to scheduel conflicts. Sometimes tends to go off topic. Overall, a challengin yet informative class.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. He makes class interesting and worth going too. He even gives review sessions at the end of the semester before the final. He doesn't give you more readings than you need to do and his exams are based exactly on the readings and his notes.
ur all right, this class is challenging however the professor is amazing and has so far kept his word on everything. he is not there to fool u. his exam is exactly what he said it would be. he is inspirational. whatever grade u get is a direct reflection of what u have put into the class. :)
This teacher is great, he makes a difficult subject matter easy to understand. I wish that more profs were like this guy. He is fair, balanced and he is wise beyond his years in avoiding "hot button" topics that other profs chose to pursue.
Goes off topic too much!!!! Wastes the first half hour of every class debating about current events. Didn't cover all the material that was on the final, which means you're gonna have a lot of reading to do.......He's a solid professor overall though.
I did not find him that knowledgeable as an academic, after watching two experts debate on C-SPAN for a ½ hour; I realized how little I really knew about real International law. If you want a good grade, read the book and master the concepts on your own. There is only 25 minutes per class were y
By far the best teacher I have ever had. Truly an inspirational man. Very fair. Prepares you well for both midterm and final. Makes the class more interesting with his current events discussion. Amazing teacher. Amazing human being. EVERY WORD COUNTS!
great teacher!! its refreshing to have a teacher who is passionate and enthusiastic. not an academic, but hes a better teacher for it, since hes able to offer a lot more practical real world experiance than just plain theory. good guy
great professor. his passion is motivating enough for any student.
One of the best professors ever. Clearly a smart man with a passion for his work.
Thinks he is God's gift to this world because he became a laywer. He is an extremely hard marker and will preach his point of view, if you don't agree, watch out!!!
Makes class interesting, but the guy is a bit closed minded when it comes to other peoples point of view.
Amazing teacher. He's knowledgeable and passionate about IPL. He is not the easiest marker, however he makes it absurdly easy to know exactly what is on the tests. He wants you to do well! Accordingly, he explains everything very thoroughly. Also, but of course, May Cooler Heads Prevail!
Nice teacher... likes to discuss his own views... I think a lot of bad reviews of him have be taken down because he goes after the people!!! LOL! I dont understand why anyone would write a reeaaaaallly bad review for him because as a teacher he is really good. However, beware of tests they are hard!
Every negative adjective ever to be applied to lawyers is embodied in this teacher. If you want to learn about International Public Law, take a class with professor Habib. If you want to hear a lecture in the subject of Bob Cox, told in the third person, from a screaming teacher who actually has v
The worst teacher in the poli sci dept. - very limited knowledge of IR, but thinks he knows it all.
Myself, and my friends who took this class with me, all agree that Cox is an exceptional prof and human being. I never expected to take a course that would have a truly lasting effect on me. He is certainly more intense than other profs, but you shouldnt mistake passion for aggresion-thanks a millio
his class was very inspirational and i have learned a whole lot. he is a little tougher than others but its worth it bc he phases out those who dnt want to wrk for their grades. i thot he was great and u never know how far u can push urself until u take his class. thx prof, i enjoyed ur class
Must subjective marker ever. Anwser every component of his essay/short ans questions and you'll get an 75/80 and then go see him and he'll ask what are you complaining about, that's a good mark? His last name really sums him up.
Good teacher. This class is intense. He expects a lot of work. I basically read the book to know what was happening. He rambles. Tests are crazy. He is a very smart guy, however.
the subject itself was interesting. You do need to study well in order to succeed in this class. he has a good knowledge of international law but doesn't like his views challenged. his motto is:"let cooler heads prevail" which is ironic given that he gets very agitated whenever students question his ideas.
As has been said, he rambles a lot, and doesn't like it when you disagree with him; however, he knows his stuff and I learnt a lot.

He only spoke about himself the entire class and was condescending to students. In frint of the class her asked one girl personal questions about abortion, as a way of illustrating some hypothetical legal issue, remarks I found to be in bad taste. He also made a lot of mistakes in class.
"General" cox likes to bark his brand of reality at the class very loudly. The only way to stop him is to ask a question. However, you will then have to engage in a game of grade 4 insult slinging with him until you finally kowtow to his mighty omniscience. Not worth the 250$
What I remember is that he was very insecure. This is reflected in his lack of courtesy to differences of opinions and his criticism of students for using this website (he made many references to Rate my Professor in class). He also on occasion attempted to have negative ratings erased. He is not a nice man or a very good teacher.
He has an oppnion but as long as u take notes you should be fine. I didnt even crack the book so once again take good notes. He goes over everything at nausium so pay attention in class. But dont bother asking questions u will be embarassed when he ripps u a new one infront of everyone.
He is one of the best teachers I ever had and he's always available to help his students. I don't know how people can bash him, they're just crazy. Just take good notes and listen carefully when he says that a section is important, he will practically give you the questions on the exam.
Not a good teacher. Cannot ask questions without being made to feel belittled/humiliated in front of the class. Don't try debating with him, he thinks he knows everything. If you igneor your own ideas and memorize his, you will do wonderful on the exams.

He's a lawyer by profession and a bit of a j**k. He doesn't like any of his opinions challenged; he tries to win most arguments by raising his voice to the point of yelling. The class is not all that difficult if you take good notes and do the readings.Only take him if its the only section open.
He is really hostile and rude, told the students that he would not make himself available for office hours unless you made an appointment, because he could be making 250 bucks an hour sitting in his law office otherwise. Really thinks he is doing you a favor by screaming about himself all the time. Take this class with Professor Habib.
Cox is a great teacher if you can get past the intimidation of the subject matter (law) and, perhaps for some students, his personality. I have never had a university professor who has made so much of his personal time avaliable for final exam review, and he is an excellent teacher.
This guy is a real peice of work. Every bad cliche about lawyers you'll find in Mr. Cox. He is igotistical and believes he is better than most people because he has a law degree. Avoid at all costs, hard marker, not helpful, and an all around tyrant.
Don't know what this guy is doing teaching a class in Poli Sci, totally ignorant on the subject - for that matter, totally ignorant on IR. Bossy and loud, talks about himself all class, rude to students, very politically incorrect. I found him to be a VERY subjective marker, and one who had trouble explaining what you needed to know in class.
this teacher has really inspired me and has pushed me very hard to succeed. If you are not one of the many idiots in his class you might actually learn something. He may be a bit intimidating but he is so available to students and will do anything he can to help you pass. He is ameliorating his attitude very much.
damn slow marker... complains he has too much to correct, semester starts tommorrow and finals arent corrected yet. took him a month for the mid terms... if he has too much on his plate maybe he should delegate to the TA

One of the best profs I've had so far. Very good and very interesting
Great teacher, you just need to listen and understand the points that he is making. Be objective and speak in class.
HES HOT AND A GREAT PROF
This is the worst and most ruthless professor i ever had
Great teacher, I cannot understand how can anyone write negative comments about him. His examples are used to make a point and are not ment to offend anyone. Very helpful and he loves to teach!
Loved this class, would recommend it to everyone
This professor is passionate, refreshing and loves to teach. I think in his past life he was Socrates! You really get to understand what learning is all about when you finish his course. I strongly recommend, only to those who feel they can be objective and analytical. You'll succeed if you set your mind to it. An overall great guy.
Man of honor.Keeps his word and went out of his way to help me.Sparked my interest in law.I enjoyed his political incorrectness, and his honest opinions. Most of the students here are weak minded cowards that do not have the courage of their views.Again honorable, bless him and his family. If I were him,I would remove all your libelous comments.
I loved this professor, the best I've had at Concordia. He's tough but passionate, you either love him or hate him. If only all profs were like him university courses would be a much more fulfilling experience.
Very energetic and approachable prof. There is a lot of information to take in each lecture but the material is very interesting. I would recommend this class
He comes off intimidating, but it's all an act because he's actually pretty bright and funny. tests are hard; 65% of your grade is based on the final. sink or swim. read everything at least twice (once before and again after the lecture). he will go out of his way to make sure everyone understands. a great prof, but not for every one.
Escellent Prof. As said befire, he might look intimidating but he is actually a very nice guy. Makes you understand and critically think about international law. I reccoment this teacher for those who are ready to learn
He is tough, but he knows what he is talking about. Very knowlegeable, makes sure everyone understands, provides his students with exam review classes. I really enjoyed his teaching style, very energetic and informative.
Professor Cox is totally HOT HOT HOT - great teacher, very passionate about international law, very interesting to listen to and great to look at!!!!
dont know what to say about him, AVOID HIS CLASS unless you wont mind standing his very selfcentered approach to his lectures// i mean he knows his materials but he is more an authorative than a teacher who is approachable.. but it's just my opinion//
Very good Class, highly recommended. Demanding but fulfilling
As he is a lawyer by day, he likes to argue. He can be agressive- but he really does have a big heart. Some were put off by him, but I saw that he wants us to succeed. Do not miss a lecture- he gives out definitions and they make up approx 40% overall grade. Go to class and he will basically tell you what to study.
You have to work hard in his course and keep on top of the readings--but that's just what any good student should do. He may come off as unapproachable or harsh, but in reality he's the total opposite. He encourages debates, offers review sessions and highlights important sections that will be on the exams. Great professor overall!
Excellent teacher!!! Best teacher that I have had!! He is a lawyer, and he teaches bc he just love to teach! He is very clear and very passionate! He also encourages students to keep studying!! if u want to apply for law school u should definitely take this class
Amazing teacher, extremely sweet, and by all means approachable. He makes the class interesting, can't wait to take him again! Do your readings and there's no reason not to get an A. There should be more teachers like him!!
Easily the best teacher I've ever had, people say he brags but I disagree. He is incredibly knowledgeable, approachable and successful. International law is incredibly interesting. If you love polysci and you love law PLEASE take this class, it's amazing.
Great prof, you won't get lost in this course. I highly recommend ..
On of the best teachers at Concordia, even if his status exclude him a bit from the dept. His lectures are great, and you will learn a lot about Intl' Public Law. He is actually a lawyer, and contrary to most academics, he got a real professional life! Great source of inspiration, and actually convinced me to study law.Don't miss him.
meh, i dont see all the greatness other ppl commented. two books, a lot of reading to do, half of which barely made any sense unless youre majoring in it. he does not let you ask any questions about what will be on the exams. verrrrrry anal about people blurting out answer, MUST raise your hand or he will bite your head off
AVOID! (unless you like having your GPA go down) there are far easier (and more interesting profs at concordia)
I loved this professor. He made the class very interesting - subject was easy to understand. I took this class as a summer intensive (6-week semester), and I got an A. I also felt comfortable answering questions and participating. There was one mid term and one final only. I recommend this prof. to everyone interested in international law.
Amazing professor. Def one of the best of the department. Tries to make lectures as clear as possible. Funny and has a big heart. LOTS of reading, easy exams, though. Ends each class "thanking you for learning with him". Beauty.
I absolutely love Prof Cox. He knows his stuff and enjoys shearing his knowledge with students. There is a fair amount of reading but for the most part is very interesting. He might seem hard and mean at the beginning, but he has a huge heart and really wants you to succeed and be interested in law. Highly recommend him!!
Prof Cox is an amazing prof. Throughout the class he does his best to make student understand ILaw. Fair grading (no surprise at the exam). Humble prof that encourages student to speak/debate. Take the class !
great teacher. DO ALL THE READINGS BEFORE CLASS!
Cox frequently strayed off topic (by week 4 of course, we were still on "lecture 1") and when he did actually teach, just read from the textbook. He's blatantly biased against any critics of the current health care system, effectively discouraging any real critical thinking in his students. Just spew back the textbook in exams and you'll get an A.
It is the second class I too with this teacher. He is really great, he does his best to make every class interesting. It is hard to get bored with him, he knows a lot and is passionate. I would definitely take a third class with him if it is possible. As for the exam, if you do your readings and a bit of research on your own it is ok.
Prof.Cox is one of the best teachers at Concordia. He is very helpful during the semester and there are no suprises for his exams, just go to class, take notes, do the readings and you should do fine.
I love him. If you do what he tells you take good notes and remember the definitions and the cases you will do good. Everything that is in the exams he mentions at one point in class. Has a great TA. I actually learned a lot. If you are looking for an easy class it not it though.
Had this professor a while ago. As far as the material and content goes he is clear. Study and do well. What I personally don't like is this professor's politics and as a result a sometimes one sided viewpoint which put off my experience.
His teaching style is unique and at first odd, and off the topic. But when you look back you realize how everything is connected, and every single word of his had a purpose. He's not there to spoon-feed you, but to facilitate, and damn does he do his job pretty well. So go to class, take notes, listen and read everything.
Bob has a big personality, and he's very sarcastic. He is one of those people you either hate or love. Regardless, he's a very good teacher because he knows what he's talking about, he makes it very understandable, & he's passionate about what he does. Do not go for him if you hate law. If you do like law, you will learn a lot, and won't get bored.
Best professor I have had in my University life. Very clear explanations, makes topic interesting and practical. Marks fairly; definitions+ cases!!! No BS accepted, but you will not need to BS if your attend class he givens plenty of examples. recommend this proff
This professor is not for the faint heart! At first he appears as being abrasive, and blunt, but he actually knows his stuff. His lectures are very dramatic and engaging, he really encourages you to think outside the box. He really wants you to learn and doesn`t care about you memorizing useless details. One of the best professors at Concordia.
I loved his lectures. He is very patient, helpful and he definitively knows what he's talking about! Always giving several examples to help you understand the subject. I don't think he is a tough grader, he is fair. READ THE BOOK and MAKE NOTES DURING CLASS!! his exams are easy if you do the very least: go to class and do the reading.
Robert makes you want to go to class. I didn't give much interest to international law before this semester, but the way he introduces it to you is clear, straight-forward, and extremely engaging. Concordia has only a handful of such teachers, take his class while he's still here, you will not regret it.
Bob is one of the most inspirational teachers I have ever come across in my time at Concordia. He cares about what he does and his students. He takes an approach to teaching that covers more than just relevant material, he takes the time to discuss aspects of life in relation to current world affairs. Go to class, read and you'll be fine.
