He does grade papers hard, but in the end, you'll become a better writer having taken his classes. He has his pets though, so it's pointless trying to suck up. We're all beneath him.

Very handsome. Expect lots of red marks on your paper, but it's worth learning cuz he's really smart and even went to school with BLOOM!!!!

Student dont like Dr. Crafton because they actually have to earn the grade. I got a C in his class, but in all honesty, I earned it. I also learned alot that has been helping me with my junior and senior classes.

He knows his stuff very well, so you better too. its not a class you can easily BS through, however then you actually learn something. don't be afraid to ask him questions. he was always so helpful to me. he's very intelligent, don't let it intimidate you. if you like to write, take him.

Most of the comments demonstrate why SRU needs more profs like Crafton -- to fetter out those students that don't belong in college. I'll be finishing my PhD in literature this spring and attribute much of what I carried into graduate school directly to Dr. Crafton.

This guy is amazingly smart. He's real tough on grading and is very analytical of the essays. I busted my butt to get through this course and didn't get too high on the grade scale. He's helpful to a point but don't take him if you don't like to write alot.

Yes, he makes you write. Yes, he makes you think. But, isn't that what you are paying for? If you don't want to learn, why are you enrolled? He gave me my start; now I'm teaching college. Sometimes, learning isn't easy and you have to put down the beer and think.

I have learned so much from this man. Take a class from him if you want to get the most out of your money. If you don't want to think or be challenged, Crafton's not your man.

I thought he was an excellent prof. Yes the material was lengthy and his lectures long-winded at times, but if you did the assignments and paid attention to lectures--the essays and papers were easy. Those of you who GO to class on a regular basis will be fine. The debatable topics posed are interesting to talk about----Crafton is very knowledgable!!!

The students who rate Crafton low are lazy **** ****s who don't want to go to class and will only get out what they put into the class. They have no one to blame but themselves for the low grades.

Crafton is a good guy. If you go to class, and pretty much turn your papers in by the end of the semester, you're good. papers are tough to get a good grade on, but he revises them and gives you suggestions before you get a grade. i had him for two semesters.

I loved Crafton's class. He does make you really work and think hard but it's all worth it.

Relatively nice, very intelligent, but comes off as being snooty sometimes. Lots of work: journals are easy, papers manageable, tests tough (you can retake tests if you get below a 70%). I learned a lot from this class, and I'm a lit major who doesn't care much for early British stuff. Most of these reviewers just disliked having to work. Grow up!

'm not gonna lie, Crafton's workload is like 3 classes in one. Topics are interesting but you will want to gouge out your eyeballs sometimes. Don't be discouraged! Go to the Writing Center if you're having trouble, they will help you. If ur major is in writing, sociology, history or politics I highly recommend it. You will learn a lot.

you can really learn a lot from Crafton. Attend class, revise frequently and try to work ahead of time. Journals are easy but papers can be difficult. Crafton is really smart and you can learn a lot from him.

Crafton is the smartest ive encountered. He may be a little weird, but most geniuses are. Still don't know why people say he's so hard. Keep up with the busy work and make sure you don't get NC on the papers, but if you do you can revise it several times til the end of the semester. Attend class and anyone with half a brain can get at least a B.

You will learn a LOT from his classes. There's a lot of work, and some of it is difficult, but it's not hard to get a B. Helps you become a better writer. Really stuck on himself, though. Would definitely recommend him to a major or for a college writing professor, but don't take him if you just want a blow off.

Indeed it is hard to get an A but it is not hard to get a B. The best way to explain Crafton is "old school". Be prepared to handle constructive criticism for you will learn that the best way to learn is by doing. Learn from your mistakes. This class will help you in the long run. Nothing is perfect! He will notice your improvements. Attend!!!

Prof. Crafton teaches this class very seriously and it is a very difficult class to say the least. We had seven books to read and write journals on. The topics were really interesting to me because I am a poli sci major and they pertain to my area of studies. I learned so much from this prof. and recomend him to anyone willing to do the work.

It's sad that so many people don't appreciate his intellect. His class requires work, I'll give you that. But he's incredibly willing to help you; YOU just have to make the effort, as with any professor. Outside of class, he's a great, funny guy. If you're looking for an easy A, pick someone else, but if you want to learn, Crafton's your man.

If you are serious about learning to write...take this class. Dr. Crafton is an amazing professor. He is smart, funny and cares about his students. He is always willing to help. He does have high standards and expects the same from his students.

I have found Dr. Crafton's College Writing class to be excellent as far as developing one's writing skills. While it is difficult, the work will make one a better writer overall.

This course will be challenging, but not impossible. Dr. Crafton is clear about what he expects from his students. The class isn't a stroll theough the park, but not impossible to pass either.

Dr. Crafton is a very intelligent professor who is very clear and concise about what he expects from his class. I can honestly say the only reason I didn't do well as a Freshman in ENGL 102 with him is because I didn't put forth the effort.

If you are looking for an easy A, avoid this class. If you are looking to genuinely improve your writing, take this class. Dr. Crafton offers a lot of valuable feedback on your essays, and he will meet with you and help you improve them (and your grade) at any point in the semester. This class should definitely be necessary to take in college.
