Excellent teacher! A+++++
EXCELLENT teacher
Really Helpful & Funny! Really Nice Too! But NOT That Easy!
Clear lect.BEST Proff.Very helpful and EXTREMELY NICE.Cares about his student
Great guy! Very helpful and enthusiastic. Hard text though. Exams are not easy.
very likeable
I did my thesis with him. A pleasure to work with. Great for statistics too.
He teaches as though he's been teaching for ages...he's SO GOOD at it!
Exellent Prof!!
Really nice, really helpful, good prof. watch out for pop quizes, annoying&hard
He made me LOVE stats!!! That should tell you how GOOD he is. :)

Teaches the right stuff, and teaches it well. Cute too.
Great professor. Super nice, great at explaining difficult concepts, makes stats seem easy. The textbook wasn't the greatest though. Chapters 12-16 were fine, but the rest was below average. More graphical explanations would have been good in the book
Down-to-earth and unbelievably helpful!
Excellent Prof. Knows how to teach. Great
Good guy! You can tell that he cares about the subject matter. Even though stats is not the most exciting subject matter, cribbie gives it to you in concise and as interesting a manner as possible.
He's very helpful in class and outside of the class. You can ask him the same question over and over again and he makes sure that you fully understand it without making you feel stupid.I had him 2 years ago and now I'm graduating and have no regrets.
Extremely down to earth, approachable and accessible. Marks generously. On the negative side, he moves through the material too fast, his lectures are somewhat disorganized and boring, and he isn't the greatest at explaining concepts.
Incredibily helpful, in fact he goes out of his way to help you. His comments are clear, and he isvery approachable. Great professor!
A great prof. Very helpful and will take the time to explain concepts. He also gives "how to get into grad school" seminars which are very helpful if you're looking to get into grad school. He really goes the extra mile to help students.
Great prof!!! Not easy but he made it fun. Reminds me of Seinfeld
nice person. TERRIBLE PROF. this was the hardest year ever with the strike and all and he didn't make it easier. our class avg was too high so he made the 2nd assignment extremely hard and the 2nd exam virtually impossible. people were crying after. thanks for nothing Rob. nice person - shouldn't be teaching. unclear & TOO MANY SLIDES! not impresse
Best prof for stats by far. StatsI I nearly failed, and I got a B in this course, and I am horrible in math. The second assignment was extremely hard, BUT his tests were easy. He makes sure you understand WHY your doing the formulas, not memorizing them. I will actually be able to do my thesis and understand the stats part :)
Great professor, clear, helpful, and funny. Made statistics enjoyable, goes beyond requirements and teaches you practical applications (SPSS). Highly recommended, assignments were easy, test could be tricky but fair.
Excellent honours thesis advisor! Gave me plenty of help when needed, but also gave me enough space and flexibility to propose changes and modifications to the project. Is always on the go with his research and growing the quantitative psychology program, but always makes time for students and those who need statistical consulting.
Great prof. A little hard.
Great professor, I took this course again with him during the summer and he did an amazing job explaining the material and concepts.
Wonderful professor. Show up to class as the lectures are more important than anything you could get from the textbook. Great prof to take if you want to get into research, stats, honours thesis, etc, as he goes into lots of detail and teaches you HOW to research and why you're looking for certain info. Made me love R software. Excellent course :)
Rob is a fantastic professor. I am horrible at stats, but he explained everything in such detail that i attended every single class. He is very helpful and the best part is if you are one of those people that dont understand stats and math is not your best friend, he doesnt make you feel stupid or awkward like a lot of other profs out there do.
Very clear explanation. He approaches the course material from a student perspective. It helped me a lot to understand obscure concepts of statistics. Very interesting and open-minded.
Hea awesome
the best prof at york!
BEST PROF TO TEACH STATS ! seriously! Explains concepts thoroughly so you really don't even need any further textbook explanations! but textbook is FREE and relevant so might as well use it!
He is an excellent prof who actually cares about the students. i was really worried about doing terrible in this course since i don't do well with math but this professor is so clear that he makes anything easy. wish i could take my state 2 with professor
Great Prof who makes the course interesting. Very caring and checks to see if everyone understood the subject properly. I would definitely recommend this course with this prof to everyone .
One of the Best Professor's I've ever had! Tests and assignments are very fair and easy ONLY IF you put in the work, and there was no exam. Missing class can really screw you over. He cares about his students making sure EVERYONE understands before proceeding. Fun lecture, easy to talk to and chill personality.
Stats will be a difficult course don't expect an easy A but with this prof you will definitely pass if you put in work. He explains things very well, expect no surprises on the test's its going to be everything you covered in class so make sure to go to them & pay attention!
Professor Cribbie is amazing!!! The course is hard, but the way he elaborates on everything makes you really want to work hard at it. Robert Cribbie shows empathy towards the class, and will explain until people understand it. Never met a prof with more patience then him!!! Go to lectures, as that is the only way the material is easily understood.
He's a great prof! He likes to be sure everyone understands and he takes his time explaining concepts. He uses lots of examples to make sure concepts are understood and does his best. Stats is tough, but he definitely tries to make it simpler
I never went to class and got a C in this course, but I studied the night before and forgot to do an assignment. So if you actually go to class and do the practice questions you can EASILY ace the course!!! the tests are exactly like the practice problems he posts online. I only read the slides, and didn't even look at the textbook.
Empathetic Prof who really cares about his students. Will explain until the class understands and is never condescending. Lecture slides were extremely clear and to the point. Practice his exercises and make sure to read slides, those are the only things he will test on. Tests are difficult, make sure to understand theories behind material.
Study ALL his slide shows and DO the practice assignments! R program is ALOT to learn. Fair Professor and Helpful when you ask questions. Be ready to do ALL the readings!
Rob is great. He really wants his students to succeed. He takes his time when lecturing and makes sure everyone is ready to move on. Rob is approachable and helpful. He will take his time with you and will be patient. Stats is a hard course and he acknowledges it. I would definitely take his course again.
He is really considerate and always tries his best to give an explanation for everything. However, you also have to work hard to get a good grade.
Rob is a very passionate and a smily professor with much respect and care to his students. Personally I could not absorb the R program well enough and generally I found the material kind of hard to understand, so such a course should have a better informative slides with variety of examples to help the students who are not into stat
Really good proff! Honestly best proff I've had in a while and wants to make sure everyone is on the same page before moving on! Had taken a stats course before and this one was taught 100% better! Really recommend
This course is great to get familiar with stats and being able to apply concepts that are acquired, the proff. is very good at explaining things and going into details, however it is preferable to ask questions as well.
he is really good prof that make stat enjoyable
I really enjoyed this Rob! He seemed to be very caring when it comes to his students' understanding of the material he is teaching. Lectures were not rushed, and the content wasn't unbearable. He was also very accessible, and is interactive with students' questions on Moodle. Hand calculations and video tutorials were also VERY useful!!!
Robbie is an amazing teacher, he always tries to engage the class and despite taking one of his early classes he still made it somewhat enjoyable. He's a certified beauty and always goes full send baby. Definitely take him.
An amazing prof who really cares about his students! As long as you pay attention and do your work, you will do well!
Great professor to have for stats. To do well you must attend lecture and do the exercises assigned.
Besides being extremely handsome, he is an AMAZING professor!!!! Even if you're absolutely terrible in math, you will do great because this professor is THAT good at teaching! Best prof ever!
Great prof
Awesome prof, best I've had at york so far
Superb! Never have I had a prof who would go the extra mile for his students. Always took his time to answer those who were confused. He provided lots of practice questions online but I greatly appreciated him posting own personal video tutorials on how to solve problems so you can visually see what you're doing right/wrong. This helped out a lot!
His lectures are quite a heavy load but he does his very best to make the concepts clear & concise. Never did you find him zooming through a lecture. Assigns a lot of optional homework exercises but its for your own good. If you do them consistently, you should have a breeze understanding this course. Overall, he's really great at teaching stats.
To keep it short, he's a fabulous Stats professor who's passionate about teaching. He does use a stats computing program called "R Studio" in class throughout the semester. Those who aren't too computer savvy may have a tough time adjusting to the program. It also helps to bring your laptop so you can follow the steps along with him in class.
The course consisted of 3 in-class tests and 2 assignments. There were no surprises. It was all based on his lectures. Textbook is useful too as a secondary resource! He makes his lectures engaging. Stats isn't the easiest course but this prof tries to make it as simple as possible. Highly recommend him! The TAs were very nice and approachable!
The R program is a bit confusing at first but following class examples it's easy to learn. The assignments are very easy, it's essentially copying class examples. Test are very fair, they're more about understanding concepts rather than computing numbers. Didn't read that textbook once, went to class twice. He post everything online which is great
Cribbie has got to be the best prof I've had at York. The man is a saint. I was dreading this course but Cribbie was excellent. He walked through every concept in a detailed and patient manner. he'll answer any and all questions in a non-condescending manner. you can approach him or his profs anytime. please take this course with him!!
I suck and struggle with anything tech related, so this class was a bit difficult for me because its based on using the software program R, but he explains everything amazingly. DO THE ASSIGNMENTS WELL CAUSE THEY ARE AN EASY 100% AND WORTH 15% OF YOUR GRADE EACH!! If you don't understand something go to him and he'll take the time to explain again.
How to ace this class: read the lecture slides before and after the class, get help from TAs for assignments(R application) and just focus on the lectures(don't fall asleep! Make sure to get a good night's rest because you definitely want to be awake and enthusiastic in his class). Overall, he's amazing and super flexible with teaching, best prof.
Rob Cribbie was one of my favourite profs! His lectures are engaging and he wants students to ask questions! I went to his office hours many times for extra help. The tests are straight forward. The assignments were kind of tricky but once you understand R it gets easier. TA's were nice and helped me get great marks on both assignments.
Rob Cribbie is a great professor and is very understanding. He tries to engage the students during lecture (although no one will raise their hands in my class)! The only hard part is R studio, a software that is used mainly for assignments but do show up on tests. As long as you go to class you won't even have to open the textbook.
Be aware of the multiple choice questions, they are surprisingly VERY hard.
Really easy class. While I did specify the use of a textbook. To be honest with you all, it's not really important. As long as you understand the lectures, then the test and assignments are easy, so attendance is preferred. If you can take a stats class with Cribbie, do it. You won't regret it.
Psych 2021 is a stats class which means you have to do the work, practise and last min. studying just won't cut it. It was a tough class but he is a great prof. and I would take a class with him again !
Prof and lectures were good. Assignments were super easy. R is kind of confusing and annoying at first but the class examples are really helpful.
is very energetic (even at 8:30) about stats, loves his class and his job. i would recommend sitting in the front row, and if you have a good question ask it, he will take notice.
Very enthusiastic. Gives feedback. Wants to you to pass, so would help you to understand the material.
Rob gives great feedback on tests and assignments. He cares for a lot of his students and dedicates his time towards them. He also makes sure that each student understands the lecture that he is presenting. Amazing professor!
I went to a total of about 3 classes and I'm getting an A. Everything we get marked on is fair and could be learned from a textbook. He posts lecture notes online which guide the textbook readings. The few classes I did go to were good aswell. He is a good teacher.
Rob is one of the best. You all please attend every lecture. The material after the first test was quite challenging in terms of new concepts but still, you can do well. STUDY BEFORE ATTENDING THE CLASS. Assignments are the grade booster. In general, I enjoyed the course so much. If he's reading this, thank you Rob, I enjoyed your class.
Rob is one of the best professors I've had at York! He makes the class really easy to understand and is willing to help! You can tell he really wants his students to do well and responds to emails immediately. He breaks down the info to make it easier. It's key to keep up with the lectures because the material can get difficult as it is statistics!
Good lectures. Explains concepts well and only wants the best for his students. He makes sure that everyone is on the same page and not lost at any point during his lectures.
They're all saying it aint difficult but nobody ever have an answer for him, don't let these guys fool you WITH THEIR LEVEL 3 DIFFICULTY. And it is 100% not his fault, he explains it, then applies it, walks us through it, then asks us if were on the same page, or if we need help.
So long as you keep up to date with the work and lectures you'll do fine
best prof i've ever had in York. He makes sure that EVERYONE gets the content of EACH slide before moving ahead.
Amazing prof! Makes sure everyone understands the material before moving forward. Always reviews material at the beginning of class before moving on. Integrates all the lessons together seamlessly. Lightly roasts you if you don't, but adds to the humor and fun of things. Fair grader for exams and assignments. Hilarious guy.
anything math related and me does not mix so was stressing about taking stats but taking it with him made stats so much easier. Goes over materials and gives extra clarity on topics, responds to emails quickly, super helpful and really knows how to break down information into a way anyone can understand. highly recommended if you have to take stats
Prof. Cribbie is amazing! He came in half way through the semester and everything in stats became a little more clear. He explains topics thoroughly and tries to make sure that we all understand the concepts. Amazingly helpful if you are confused about anything. Gives you extra sample/practice qs If you ask. Wish he could teach all of my classes!
best prof ever at York University, great at explaining course material. Excellent!
Amazing prof, explains material clearly and ensures all students are following before moving on. Very helpful in terms of answering questions and clearly cares about students understanding the material. He set up a forum before the final for student discussion and personally replied to just about every single question that was posted.
He clarifies well and makes sure we understand all points. He sticks to the info and doesn't drift away or unnecessory stuff. Tests and assignments are straight foward. Going to his lectures is very helpful. Text is optional.
This was a hard course. Weekly assignments take too much time. Expectations are unclear. Very little guidance. Might have been different in person. Would not take again.
For a completely online course, I found that the lectures were well planned and provided most of the material necessary for the assignments. In fact, I found watching shorter videos rather than attending a 3 hr lecture increased my comprehension. Having weekly assignments is time-consuming, but I certainly learned something from this course!
Challenging course with tough weekly assignments, but timely marking and helpful feedback. The R demos were excellent but readings were not helpful - I found the lectures were sufficient. Overall, I'd prefer more time spent on practical aspects (e.g., interpreting R output, dealing with non-normal data, etc.) than solving underlying math by hand.
Best graduate course I have taken! Clear expectations, weekly feedback on assignments helped me gauge my performance. The assignments were timely, but weighted appropriately, and were relatively easy to complete after reviewing the material. However, readings were often not needed to complete the assignments, only the short/concise videos.
This course is *a lot* of work. Articles & > half of the videos are unnecessary to complete course requirements. Although Rob is very kind, clarification is often difficult to receive as responses only lead to additional questions. There is very little guidance on how to actually interpret the analyses, yet it is expected. Inconsistent due dates.
Dr Robert Cribbie is a great and knowledgeable professor happy to be in his class
I really love his classes.
Amazing professor! Provides a safe classroom environment, and wants all his students to succeed. Caring and respected, evaluation are reflected on course material (no surprises). Guided and well informed lectures, that set you up to succeed. Going in I did not like statistics at all, but teaching style was effective in changing my mind.
Professor Cribbie is the best professor I have ever taken a class with. He explains the lectures so well plus he is very kind and makes sure that everyone understood the concept in class.
He is amazing and makes statistics very easy. If you come from a strong math background, this class will be the easier thing you have ever taken. Even if you suck at math, this processor explains everything in detail and prepares you perfectly for the tests. No surprises at all
This was a very hard course. Weekly assignments took too much time. Expectations are very unclear and professor gave very little guidance. Might have been better in person. Overall, would not take again.
Dr. Cribbie truly is such a great professor, his lectures are engaging and easy to follow and he cares about his students!
He is the most responsive prof I have ever encountered in my life
Best prof I ever had. Explains all concepts clearly, and if you don't understand, he will re-explain. Exams covered everything we learned; no surprises. Also has a chat on Eclass for students to ask questions if needed, and other students will respond, but he also responds to most questions on Eclass chat. Overall amazing prof.
He is a very nice guy, tries so hard to make sure everyone understands, tests are fair. I just had problem with his way of explaining, he is a very smart person, but he explains in a way that I get more confused, i stopped attending lectures and read myself to learn content, he adds good videos to eclass tho for self study. Very responsive as well
Amazing prof! He's so kind and caring. Wants his students to achieve the best possible grades. For patient, will listen to all questions in lecture or on eclass. Helps everyone understand what is going on in lectures and won't move on if you feel confused or stuck. Very helpful TA's, comfortable classroom environment. Fairly graded!
Dr. Cribbie is very kind and answers questions very well. The slides were a little difficult to understand, but the videos he provides are helpful. For me, I think the difficulty was more to do with stats being hard than Dr. Cribbie's abilities. The only downside was that he is not very flexible with deadlines.
Truly the best prof I've ever had!!!
Cribbie is one of the best I've had. His lectures and slide decks are very clear, and he always has time for in-class content questions. His tests and assignments are easy-fair level, based solely on lecture material as they ought to be. He does have many readings, though I've found them unnecessary - lectures being enough. Be vigilant for pop-Qs.
