He knows what he is talking about, but he is way to difficult a teacher to take with a full load of classes. He is the hardest teacher I have had.
Mr. Davis has the worst reputation on South campus. Do not take his class!
A little equation: DO EVERYTHING AS HE SAYS + FOLLOW HIS ORDERS + DO HOMEWORK = EASY "A". Seriously - one of the easiest classes I have taken.
very easy...just do as your told..and I mean word for word. Made college seem a lot easier.
Mr. Davis is very challenging, but easy if you follow his directions to the T. I made a B in Comp I and an A in comp II. I took him for Comp II by choice! Don't be afraid of him. You really learn a lot from him, just pay attention!!
he teaches as if we were in the military. only says it once, fast and unclear. if you don't hear it the first time too bad.
By the end of the semester you will want to ring his neck. He thinks his class is the only class you are taking. God Bless you if you get an A. He makes you rethink your decision to attend college.
He has tenure and the dean will not talk to you about him. He does not have a schedule and when you think something is due, the day it is due he will change it. You will make an A if you put up with his bull, but he is not a good teacher.

I was warned about this teacher, but when I registered there wasn't a name, only staff. Beware of this, when you register. He doesn't take into consideration of your outside life or even your other classes. The work is not hard, but he makes it hard.
I took summer British Lit...a ton of work and stick to his every instruction (like using pencil instead of a pen) b/c he's tight on following orders
If you do the following: Listen to him, do his work, study what you've learn that week, you'll get an A, He'll make you worry only if you didn't do those three things, Get as many bonus points as you can, it helps a lot, He is 70 and not old at all!

If you value your sanity you will drop his class at the first available moment.
BEWARE!!! Follow his instructions, or basically drop as soon as you get a chance. Do whatever it takes to get them bonus points, or your screwed. You don't know what to expect for the tests. I studied for all of my exams and failed them miserably. Don't take his class if you have any sense...

I was warned about this teacher.But no I Knew I could do it. I had to drop because he doesn't have any consideration about you.If you are late he will count you absent and will lower your grade.If you have a hard time making it to class on time this is not the teacher for you.This man talks low and hates reapting hisself. My writing has improved greatly because of his class. He is a disciplinarian, and though his rules may seem silly, I am an older student in the class and everything he insists will carry over into adult life. His directions are not hard, just very specific. I have had bosses who were ten times more difficult.
He is crazy! His class took up more of my time than my 4hr science class. I don't have time to go to 15 million seminars to get bonus points. He gave me an assignment and didn't give me a grade or any points for it.

I dont have time for bonus seminars. I skipped work to make it to his seminars. I was 10 points from and A and he wouldnt give it to me.
If you must take his class make sure that's the only class you are taking & don't be late. He gives you tons of extra/unnecessary assignments, which will make your grade. He is not clear, mumbles, and will not repeat a word. I went through hell, because I couldn't dropp this class. Even though I made a good grade, but will not recommend it. Run!!!!
I thought Mr. Davis was an amazing teacher. He was very strict, and the course required a ton of time, but he has been one of the best college professors I have ever had, and I learned a lot from his class.
This teacher is a stickler. He is unpassionate. He does not care If your mama died and you missed class, no make up work. I had to drop his class. This has to be your only class. Very time consuming. If you cant get to class on time do take his class. And you cant leave early and go the the restroom before he hates anyone getting up and leaving.
If you thought satan was bad, think again. this man takes the cake.you will get nothing but headaches from this class.this really does have to be ypur only class.he doesnt care about any of his students on top of that he halfway thinks he is a preacher.trust me, i dropped his class when there were only 4 weeks left.his class is a big waste of time.
All of these people are babies, it doesnt have to be your only class, you just cant be a worthless lazy student like 90% of all students. He is strict, there is a lot of busy work, but all you have to do, is do it. I got an A with NO PROBLEM whatsoever. He has a lot of busy work but it is easy work.

Ok,for all of those who couldn't handle Mr.Davis, I feel sorry for you. Yes, he is strict, but his assignments are simple. All you have to do in his class is pay attention to detail.He is very specific in his way of doing things.Just listen and you will make an EASY A. I have taken him for all 3 ENG and so far 2 out of 3 have been A's.
For those who think Professor Davis is hard, learn to do your homework and the work that you are assigned. He's a hard prof. but you leave his class knowing more than what you did before you entered. He is very helpful as long as you go to his office and speak with him about the problem you are having and he continuously works with you to complete
Davis is a good teacher, very particular, but a good teacher! if you "listen, hear and follow directions" you will do fine. plus he gives a lot of extra credit. I took his class twice (1301 and 1302) and had no problems. if you dont like writing dont take the class!!! and for everyone that is complaing, give him a break, he knows what he's doing!

The absolute worst instructor I have ever stumbled upon. Has no passion for his teaching, and thinks that he is the best in his field. Carries around with him a condescending tone. Save yourself the trouble and just get another professor for this class. He has no earthly clue what he's doing. JUST STAY THE HELL AWAY!!!!!
As long as you do the assignment as he asks and be sure its on time the class is a guranteed A.

Very Good, but not very easy. He is generous with bonus points as long as you are willing to go the extra distance to get them. Just remeber don't volunteer for the advisroy staff if you dont want to work.
This teacher will make you deviate from all other studies to focus strictly on his class. I came to his office everyday an hour and half before class started to do extra credit work, which is the only way you will recieve an A in his class. This is no Pic-Nic, be prepared to sit down, shut up and work hard, no exageration at all.
Davis has absolutly no consideration for anyone. he is extremely unhelpful and plan on spending A LOT of time in his offfice during office hours just to have him tell you to come back at a different time. this happened to EVERYONE in my class. if you dont do everything his way and i mean PERFECT he will not even look at your parer and will put an F

While mr davis is a hard teacher he I would recomend him because everyone should start out with some one hard so they can be prepared for other classes that will probably be harder ie med, law, nursing school
I don't think he loves what he does. His class will take up enormous amounts of your time. If you are taking several hard classes and working I'd suggest taking his class at a different time. He belittles people and will not repeat himself. P.S. he grades your note.
This guy is probably the easiest teacher I've ever had. It's not even worth being called an English class. It's more of a "learn to follow directions" lesson. I took him over the summer, and he has never seen/graded my writing. It's an easy class if he likes you, and you know how to follow directions, but if you slip, you're screwed.

For me, Mr. Davis was fun. I didn't get on his good side, but taking the extra credit was easy! He doesnt grade very hard, but if you don't put your things in order he wont grade you at all. I stapled a paper in the wrong order and he failed me till I fixed it. If you don't follow directions you WILL fail. GO to class and listen and you'll get an A
If you have been in the military and can handle someone that is over the top, anal retentive then you will be ok. You will spend more time "learning" how to follow instructions instead of doing any english work. You will spend $$$$ because he will send you to get numerous supplies at staples and etc. He's an idiot and can't even speak english right

I think its time to have a prayer meeting. There are no excuses for late work, that dog won't hunt in Professor Davis' class. If you are serious about college, then take his class. The semester is almost over, and I can't wait to take him for Comp II. Just do the work EXACTLY the way he wants it.

This teacher is the worst teacher I have ever come across. Literally. He called me a little white girl in the middle of class! He's not willing to work with you on your grade so don't ever miss his class and keep up with his stupid "standards" cause his "dog don't run in that forest." I'm serious, don't take his class, you will regret it.

Mr. Davis is an excellent teacher. I ended up with a "C" in the class, but I still consider him an amazing teacher. A person has to pay attention and follow directions. A person will not get an "A" if they are just daydreaming. I can't wait to take him for English II and Literature.

I have never in my life met someone like Mr. Davis. He has no consideration for the fact that most of us have lives outside of his class. You better have your schedule empty to take his class. I made an "a but had to jump through hoops to get it!!!
Don't take this teacher! He makes learning no fun! first day of class you get a reading assignment of nearly 300 pages, for each paragraph you read you write a sentence of notes. He grades your notes after the 3rd week. He needs to retire! it is typical for a class to reduce to 10 to 12 students from 30!

As long as you follow EVERY direction, complete all assignments, and don't miss a class, you'll get an A. However, Mr. Davis is extremely rude and demeaning. He won't hesitate to make fun of you in front of class and he expects your world to revolve around his class, just a warning.
if you like to type a three page essays in one day and he only gives you one day notice than good luck when class first started we had 24 students by the end of the semester we had only 10 who didnt drop it was too hard and he never lets you get away with any assignments
first off he is old school. he doesn't really grade what you write only the technical things. like transition etc. and things he teaches. His goal is to see if you have heart and if can listen specifically.It starts off super tough but he lightens up if you dont drop the class.extra credit is a must and keeps u alive.If you are emtional tough do it
Don't take this class. This guy is so tough you will have an anxiety disorder within the first week. That whole week all you do is make you binder the way he likes it. Sounds like a easy first week but it's not. Please take the class if you are fresh out of boot camp. I would hate for my tax dollars to be spent supporting this guy unemployment.

I was the one that was always late to his class the first week. He made me want to drop his class because he would front me about it infront of the entire class. Instead of me giving up, I stuck to it! In the end I made an A in his class. He even asked me to help him organize his office and help him with an organization. He is a very good teacher!
This man will work you until you bleed,and he doesn't always make sense at first, but you've just gotta accept what he says with a grain of salt and listen to him, and you will pull through. He knows his stuff. He just expects respect and expects discipline.
He is a difficult teacher, but if you are willing for the challenge and ready to learn english he is great. I would suggest him to anyone who want to learn ENGLISH, not just write papers. :)
Davis is a extremely hard teacher! But for me it's worth it because I've actually learned alot in his class. If your a lazy person don't take this professor because you will find out quickly that you will fail and he will just tell you "Good Morning America, go drop my class!"
I took Mr. Davis because I heard he was a difficult English teacher and I love English. It was a full six weeks before a single assignment was due. In the first six weeks we abandoned learning in an attempt to understand his worthless bureaucracy of papers and signatures and files. I like difficult teachers, but I couldn't learn anything from him.

Wow so all you have to do is listen and follow directions, i am talking every single detail. He puts off a lot of work but that's because he expects it to be perfect. 1. Did not teach college level material. 2. Declared he was "the alpha and omega" of the classroom. 3. Broke the law by announcing my grades to the entire class. 4. Threatened me in class. 5. Received delay tactics by the department chair when attempting to address harassment and grading issues concerning Davis. 6. I was a good student & made A's.
BAD PROFESSOR....my mother was in the hospistal and she called my phone...therefore, i walked out of class to answer...when i returned back to class...mr. davis told me never to do that again and HIS CLASS WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MY MOTHER BEING IN THE HOSPITAL...HE NEEDS TO BE FIRED....
Great teacher, he presents his material very clear. make you go to his office to ask questions because he has so much material in class to present. if your a baby who expects teachers to hand you a grade then don't take him. if you wanna learn then take this teacher. he is a hardas* but only to those who cry too much. great teacher, i learned alot.
I just found out that Mr. Davis died, and he was one of my first college professors. I want to clear his name. He was a great teacher. It may have felt like I was going through freshman bootcamp, but I learned how to follow directions (the most important lesson to learn in college). He respected students who tried their best. This professor was by far the hardest professor I have ever encountered, and I am damn proud to say that of him. That is what made him the best. He showed his students that life does not accept excuses and rarely gives second chances. He, like the real world, made you earn your way every step and I consider it and honor to have studied under him.
Mr. Davis class was the hardest C I have ever worked for in my life. Although he was far from easy he was an extraordinarily professor. The lessons he taught me over a summer went far beyond the classroom. In his class you learned that he, like life, shows little regard for laziness and excuses. A lesson that still resonates with me today.
I dropped his class twice but I had to prove that I could endure it. When I walked out of his class I did not think I had learned something; I knew it! It was the best educational experience of my life. He is gone now, it has been a year but this is one teacher that helped prepare me for corporate America. I cried, I ate junk food but I made it!
I took Eng comp 1 and 2 with Mr. Davis. That was 10 years ago, and he is the ONLY teach that I remember. I have a couple that made marks, but not like Mr Davis. He was a hard teacher, but I'm thankful for him pushing me.
I took English comp 1 and 2 with Mr. Davis. That was when I was straight out of highschool and a fresh college student. He is the only teacher I remember really. I'm thankful for what he taught me and hope he is well.
