He is totally awesome. Checks homeworks and gives you extra crdit even if you just show him anything on your book. You are permitted to miss 5 classes and you can still drop your lowest test grade. Has a nice sense of humor and i guarantee you, you will love him. You will make an A for sure or B at least.
Prof. Elliot is the man! Breaks down the complexity of Calculus into understandable lessons and promotes constructive interaction. Great personality. His humor makes the class time a delightful experience. Highly recommended :)
Great professor, his humor is weird sometimes but even he admits it is! Keeps the class interactive but not in an annoying way. Lays out how to do things very clearly and simply. Math isnt my strong suit and I have an A, says a lot about how good he is!
TAKE HIM!!!! he is the best!!! very nice and test are easy, straight from HW and lectures.
TAKE HIM!!!! he is the best!!! very nice and test are easy, straight from HW and lectures.
is Prof elliot still teaching? I've been looking through the books cause i've taken him before and he's great , i cannot find him now though.
Promotes attendance by letting you drop lowest test grade or if you have a 92% or higher, skipping the final! Great teacher, humorous and very clear with his lessons. He's a very easy going and understanding guy to go with a good teaching style. Probably one of the best teachers at Nova, hands down. Used to be principal at Woodson I believe.
he's a great teacher! he constantly makes jokes and keeps the class laughing. knows what he's teaching and makes it simple and easy to learn. gives extra credit for doing your homework. attend a certain number of classes and you can be excused from the final! definitely take his class!!
He is the funniest teacher I've had! Take him if you have to take this class. He'll try his best t help you achieve.
Currently taking statistics, and i gotta say, everything he taught is the basis for this course, and he did that really well! only thing is, you gotta know your learning style before you walk in his class, if you prefer taking notes, this is not a class for you, he likes to have a lecture, and talks about an overview of the chapter, from there on i
continued: from there on it is up to you to study for the test from the book, as the questions are similar from the book, hence, if you understand the material you will Ace the class :)
Funny. But it gets old soon. I would say he's a medicore teacher becasue i don't really get his lecture. I understand materials better with susan sherry.
Professor Elliot is a very jovial, laid back man. He goes off on tangents quite a lot. He teaches the material for class quite well, and as long as you pay attention and do the assigned homework you will do really well. He lets you make up a cheat sheet before tests. Lets you drop your lowest quiz/test given you have attended enough classes.
I'm awful at math but I passed this class with an A. He's a really funny teacher, likes to joke a lot but is always willing to take time to explain things to you. He gives an easy project to help boost your grade, too, and cheat sheets on tests. I would take him for 152 if I could.
Great teacher. I'm so bad at math he made it more bearable. Let's us drop lowest grade or not take final if have an A. Cheat Sheets for all test even final.
Super helpful and super funny. His attendance and book.calculator rules are really fair. He is very nice and an overall good human being.
If you can take this professor, you should. He keeps class interesting and easy with his examples and "cheats". He allows you to bring some notes for the tests and you can drop one test. Homework is not required but extra credit. He really kept me interested in class and I hate math. Definitely an easy A if you come to class and pay attention.
he definitely gets it that he's teaching math for liberal arts (or, as he calls it "math for people who never want to take math again"). he gives lots of examples; all you really have to do is pay attention in his class to pass, and homework isn't required but it gets you extra credit on tests.
he is the best teacher ever. he explains really good and exams are easy. gives you lots of chances to get an A.if you attend class daily and do your h.w you can either exempt your finals or drop you lowest. test.
Best teacher ive had at NOVA. Makes math fun (somehow). If you study you will get an A. Tests are rather easy if you understand the basic concepts. I enjoyed coming to his class even though im an Art major!
Professor Elliot is THE BESTTTT TEACHER EVER!!! I HATE MATH!! and im HORRIBLEEE at it but I got an A in his class. he's funny and makes math fun i actually looked forward to going to math class and im taking him again for mth 152. if you want an A take Professor Elliot
Awesome professor! You do your work you will get an A. He is funny which makes fun and easy class for those who are not good in math. Always answers questions and very helpful. Show up for class, u get points and when add up to certain # you will drop lowest test. I Failed math 151 twice, but I got an A with him. If you have since of humor take him
He is one of the best teachers ever! Calculus may be a hard class, but it's a fun and easier one with him. Do all the homework as much as possible 'cause some of them appear on the test! Overall, outstanding teacher. And a very funny one too!
Outstanding! hes funny and very helpful, go to class do ur H.W and you should be fine! he wants to help you rather than fail you! take him you just wont regret it
This professor tries to make the class funny and interesting but it?s still uninteresting. He seems to teach it differently than the book so he makes it more complicated than it should be. If you do the homework he assigns which is straight out of the book and come to class and use the cheat sheet on test you should get at least a B.
Best professor ever hands down. I knew nothing about math before and had low expectations of understanding. He made it easy for me and I'm going back for 152. Great guy.
Professor Elliot is awesome. Homework and attendance is not necessary but if you don't want to take the final you have to meet "the rule of 33" which is 33 checks on HW, calc, txtbook, attendance, etc. He is extremely helpful and clear. Do the work and you will get a good grade, also the tutoring sessions are great.
One of the best Math professors I have ever had. I highly recommend Professor Elliott. He has a pretty unique personality but it makes the class more enjoyable. He is also willing to go above and beyond so you can understand math better.
He has a goofy personality and he wants you to do well in his class. Depending on how quickly you grasp the information, you will do fine as long as you study, do the homework, take good notes, bring your calculator, and attend the review sessions. He gives a ton of extra points, just don't take advantage of him and not do the assignments.
If you don't like Math, you must take his class. He will help you to get A. You are gonna love this teacher.
Highly recommend taking his class, he's goofy but thats what makes his class fun. He changed the rule of 33 to the rule of sixty (attendance, hw, and finding any errors). If you get the rule of sixty and get an average of 92 in the class then you're exempt from the final.
Great math professor! Funny guy. Loves Canada. Makes class interesting and you're allowed to have notes on exams. Homework every night. Gives a lot of opportunities to bring up your grade.
He's really sweet, helpful, and funny. He makes it extremely easy for you to pass. He'll talk about random things at times but it's humorous. He works along with the tutors in the math center who are a big help for those students who need a different view point at problems. He is one of the most caring professor and bc of that he is one of my faves
GREAT professor! Actually cares about the students passing, and is pretty clear with lecture. Attendance is mandatory, you lose points each time you skip. However, those points will help you at the end of the semester. Tests are a bit challenging but he makes sure to go over them in class. Picks on kids a lot but it's all love. Loved him.
He is the best!!! Literally lets you have free extra points if he makes an error. Attendance is Mandatory but later on it helps to drop your lowest test score! He makes homework extra credit. Very helpful man and he will pick on you and make crazy jokes about himself.
Took MTH 151 with him, loved his class so much and took 152 with him too. Easy A, he will do his best to answer your questions, and reply to emails quickly. His projects might seem crazy and hard when you first take a look at it, but he will repeat explaining it until everyone in the class understands it. He cares about every student in class.
funny, extra helpful, and overall an easy class. He lets you take one page of notes to all test! tons of extra credit and a chance of not taking the final at the end. Loved him! responded quick to emails. book required.
Great professor, makes class interesting but he goes off on tangents. You can have one page of notes on each test and two pages on the final. Don't have to take the final if you meet his requirements, which are easy to meet. Gives credit for homework, attendance, and error discoveries. Gives extra credit on tests for having all homework done
I dropped his class the first day. Out of all the math professor I have taken at NOVA he confused me the most with his first lecture with pennies and random numbers. I do not doubt he is a great professor but I wasn't hooked. He is very comedic and caring, I will say.
No lectures, everything is basically self-taught. So if you're not good with doing that I will not recommend taking him.
HE IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE IS ALWAYS THERE TO HELP YOU OUT AND YOUR CLASSMATES I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY ABOUT HIM HES JUST AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE HIM YOU WONT REGRET IT.
The course itself is super easy, its basically 8th grade math, however, Mr. Elliott complicates a lot of the basic stuff. The textbook is basically your teacher. He's a nice person, though (with a really interesting sense of humor). Take him if you're either good at basic math or are willing to teach yourself. If not, then itll just be frustrating.
He was good at the beginning of the year; however as more tests came along, the average percentage of the class began to decrease; his tests just became more harder and harder. He is not an easy A for sure! I don't even know why he have an A+ grade. He should have way less than that. If you want an A, then he shouldn't be really your choice.
Easy grader. Let you exempt final if you have more than 92%. Class is not that much hard, you just need to put a little work to get an A. I would recommend him; one of the best instructors I ever had.
Professor Elliot is a great guy. Very funny and he's really trying to have his students understand the material. He has a "rule of sixty" 2 attendance points per class, random homework/ calculator checks, and error points if you catch him wrong in a problem can help you become exempt from the final if you get an average of "A" on all your tests.
I enjoyed his class because he's funny and he is very helpful to all of his students. If there are questions that you don't understand you can send him an email and he'll explain them in details. As long as you show up to class on time, do homework and study hard for any exams. He cares a lot about the students and he is always there for them.
This class was amazing! I actually really enjoyed math by the end of the semester (and i usually hate math). He's a little weird, but that just adds to his charm! He does a check system (attendance, calculator, homework, etc.) and if you get 60 checks and an A by the end of the semester, you get to skip the final exam. Easy A!
Mr.E he's a funny human! his lectures are never dull especially because it's math. The material isn't hard you have one project you do along the semester any questions he'll help! EXTRA CREDIT he gives a lot of extra credit also has the rule of 60. Attendance is crucial if you want points. Study for the test and you'll do just great.
Robert Elliot is a great and helpful professor! He is fair and definitely goes out of his way to help his students over in person and over email. I recommend him 100%
He was really great, highly recommend
Mr. Elliot is my favorite professor this semester! He only gives about 5 chapter tests, but they are all straight forward. There is also a small data project. This is an easy A class as long as you put a little effort into it! I didn't have to show up for the last few classes nor take the final! I definitely recommend him to anyone!!
Professor Elliott was one of the funniest professor I've ever taken! Math is not an easy class for many students, this class was okay and if you study for the tests, do homework, and do your project and you'll do just fine! Attend to class if you want extra points to boost your grade and his rules are pretty straight forward.
Mr. Elliott is an amazing professor! He is super helpful and is always accessible if you need him. Very easy grader and doesn't assign too much work. By far the easiest class I've taken and I would definitely take his class again. Do yourself a favor and sign up for his class!
Mr . Elliot was always there to answer my questions
Mr. Elliot's class was very good. The only difference between getting and A and a B is doing the homework...I was fine with a B lol. LOTS of extra credit, lets you skip the final based on your other exams (they are open notes).
Easiest class I've ever had. Definetly recommend him. Lots of oportunities for extra credit, really easy to understand. Replies to emails quick and almost at any time.
Really great professor, just do the homeworks, study for the test, (Which is open note) and show up to class. if you do well on exams he will drop the final and youll be done from class early, which is convenient because it allows me to study and focus on my other finals. Take him!
Professors Elliott was by far the best math professor I've ever had! He has a great teaching method and there are various opportunities to boost your grade. I recommend him 100% you won't regret it. His humor is unique but I guarantee you'll love him!
Professor Elliott is a great teacher. He is patient, and explains things thoroughtly. The class is great, everything is explained nicely. If you do the work he gives you, and the homework, you will be fine.
He's one of the best professors out there- so just take him and you'll be fine! And he gives a lot of extra credit. I got exempt on my final because I got an A for the course. But make sure to study your notes before the test.
Literally the best professor. He knows how to teach and is always making jokes. Didn't check hw till test days. On test days, you're allowed to bring a sheet of notes. Attendance isn't mandatory but has this "rule of 60" where if you have an A and come to class prepared, you're exempt from the final
If your a person that is not really good at math you should take this class. He cares about your grade and the work is really not that much. You take at least 4 test so it is not much. You should also show up because you'll be surprised like how I was. If your confused email him because he will explain the material. Also he is very funny
He is always there for students and consistently reminds the entire class to contact him asap if there is any kind of confusion. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you show up atleast 80% of your classes you'll be exempt from the final. (wish I followed it) Class runs smoothly, alot of corny jokes but it's out of fun. Def take him! Don't hesitate
Go to every class. If you do all you are homework and show up on time all the time you might get excused from the final. The tests are open note (only one page) so be sure to write down the textbook formulas. Buy a calculator. Good luck!
Professor Elliot is the best Math teacher that I've know. He will help you if you have any concern. He responds via email really really quick. He gives partial credits for each test. As long as you show that you are trying, he will give you the grade that you earn for. Take his class!!! (Professor, please return to teaching after next year)
Great professor! He will definitely work with you. You can use a "cheat sheet" for the tests. Fast grader, he will give back feedback and graded assignments in a flash.
The best teacher ever! Mr Elliot has a lot of jokes up his sleeve, that's for sure. His lectures are full of laughter. Besides the humor, he's really helpful. If you're having problems understand, he is quick to help you. You can either see him during office hours or via email. His email are very useful. I would recommend everyone to take his class
Professor Elliott is the best math teachers I have ever had, and I have always despised math. He is very humorous and I believe he truly cares about all of his students succeeding in his course. He goes over the material very clearly, each and every class. With emails, he will respond to your emails very quickly. There are 4 Tests and 1 Project.
Great professor, was blessed to have him. Being math weak, he really helps to explain, and is a very open and fun guy with a very humorous personality. If you are not great with math look to him, he'll be sure to help, just ask the questions and email him. He really cares about his students doing well.
Great Professor! Show up and do your homework. Homework arent extremely long but not short, just moderate. Doing homework will help with the exams, he is very helpful and can be funny sometimes. You will need the text book. He cares and gives lots of extra credit opportunities.
Great professor, I highly recommended, lot of extra credit.
Such an amazing professor. The HW is straight from the book and goes over it the next class. He definitely helps those who don't understand. Show up to class to get enough points to drop the lowest grade and on the exams we are allowed to have notes. Pay attention and you should be fine
Professor Elliot made my eight week class bearable with his knock knock jokes! The material is not as easy but practice helps and he also makes himself available to help anyone who needs it.
LOVE Professor Elliott! His jokes made 3 hour classes bearable. He helps you understand the material and offers ample amounts of opportunities to show your knowledge. He cares about his students and wants to see you try. Communicate with him!! He is wonderful!!
Not gonna lie, when I saw this class was three hours I thought it was going to be horrible. Professor Eliott made it wonderful i'm so glad I took him. Always ask for help and he'll be there. I love his jokes and I'm actually going to miss him as my professor. Do yourself a favor and take him!! He's great.
He is a caring professor and give a lot of solutions to the students to learn and get a good grade. He is a fantastic professor. highly recommended
This is the first math class I've taken where it's possible to get an A and not be good at math. Mr. E explains the material in a very understandable way and always answers emails. Just make sure to pay attention and take notes because you can use a page of notes for the exams.
the class is really fun and understandable. if you press attention (recommend sitting in the front) and do your h.w.... your going to get an A. Mr.E is a really a fun teacher and would definitely take again
I personally hate math, but he makes the class really fun!
Mr.E is amazing! He is so understanding with missing tests or if you need extra help on things you don't understand. I hate math but he is a great professor and makes it hard to fail. Do the homework and show up for the daily points because they can help you get out of taking the final! His dad jokes are funny and his stories will make you laugh.
Mr. Elliott is a complete goofball with no shortage of dad jokes; you have been warned. Other than that, he makes math completely easy and it is very difficult to fail his class. Show up, ask questions, study and you will definitely get an A.
Professor Elliott is the best teacher I have ever had at Nova! He is veryyyyyy nice!! Easy tests, lots of extra credit, and funny lecture. I definitely recommend this class:)
I took Prf Eliot because he has good reviews. This course is very different and is heavily managed by MML. He told us we needed to do 8 hrs a week at home since each week there are 5 assts. Lots of HW! Put in the time and attend classes or you'll be lost. Yes, there are dad jokes and he cares. But no exam/test exemptions, quizes and exms are hard.
