In the College Algebra online class he gives these really easy quizes and then gives really hard midterms! He is a picky grader also, you have to do exactly what he says. In general, I wouldn't recommend this class.
Just got his masters and teaches it as a masters class. Very hard. Talks fast!
Taking an online math class is hard in general. But he really is a picky grader plus his exams are horribly hard. Do not recommend ever taking math online.
He is really nice and his online class is easy if you do the online test and homework which there is one of each every week. But his Midterms (he has 2 midterms) and final are extremely difficult!
too much homework and tests are very hard
Great teacher. Likes to have fun. Very helpful and will go out of his way to make sure you understand. Took his online class and traditional class. Very easy to communicate with. Math is hard unless you study!
While he is an extremely nice guy, sitting in his class is a grind. He jumps around from section to section and he talks a mile a minute. He seems easy at first, but it is becomming a grind and I'm barely going into the 4th week. Beware.
I am taking his College Algegra (online) the weekly quiz and homework is very very easy. Hoever, those 2 midterm exam are very very hard. DO NOT TAKE HIS ONLONE CLASS, unless you know and good at math.
Everest was one of the best teachers I've had at citrus. He does talk fast, but you learn SO much from him, and he's really nice and cares about his students. Plus he looks kinda like Brad Pitt's brother. :) If you want to learn alot and be prepared for math 170 take him.
Talks to fast and to much about himself. Too much homework! Would never take him again if he was the last math teacher on this earth.
Mr. Everest does talk very fast and has a considerably large ego in his accomplishments, but Mr. Everest understands and explains dimensions and concepts of math extremly well. He teaches you how to analyze a problem before you even start, and that is a very succesfull tool for his class and for future math classes. Outstanding Math teacher.
He gives a lot of homework but you can get a help at the math lab. He talks very fast in class. But if you are looking to get on his good side he likes to go out to hot springs. (so bring it up in conversation it might help)

easiest class ever.....
Nice guy, but too fast paced. Third week into the course and we already have a test, some of it consists of sections he just lectured on a day before! ALOT of homework is assigned and it seems the only way to suceed in his class is to be ahead of the schedule, which isn't easy for working & full-time students.

He is cool do .... BUT TOUGH!
Prof. Everest is a tough teacher. However, if you are like me, you are in PreAlgebra for a reason. His teaching style gave me a great foundation for the Math I would have in the future. Homework's in packet format, so it is important to stay current, or you will fall behind. With that said, he is recommended and always has time for his students.
He is a total JERK! He talks down to you and is extremely rude. I am great at math and I got a C... so yea. :/
i took him for math 129 he seemed okay. but he freaked out at me for having a slushie in the class. i didnt like that. hes kinda strict and he expects u to learn a lot in little time. i guess i would recommend him over mr. casey cuz mr. casey is crazy.good luck
take it if you want 60 problems of homework a night he wants you to spend 15 hours a week on math screw that!
He "f"ing rocks...goes at a great pace...has a lot of work, but it's math...math is always a lot of work...plus he is "f"ing hilarious!!!!
he talks way too fast. not very clear...pushes you and way tooo much homework..alot of which is not on any tests....but what he does do on the board..he puts on the tests..just a lot of the homework is unnecessary
He is a pretty good teacher. He has a lot of little trivks to help you remember formulas. He does give a lot of homework but if you do it, it helps with the tests. He expects the correct form for showing work, he is very picky about it. He tells you about everything ahead of time and there are no surprises. I recommend taking his class.
Mr. Everest is a decent math teacher. When I took this class I passed with a B. I have Mr. Casey right now and Mr. Everest should be teacher of the century compared to him. Mr. Everest tries his best to ACTUALLY teach you how to do math work and he will give you helpful assignments as well Hes a pretty cool guy too just dont have any food/drinks
Yes, he does give helpful tricks for SOME problems, but he gives WAAAY too much HW, most of which isn't even on the tests--so it just becomes tedious and time consuming! He's a cool guy, but gets easily side tracked with other material that isn't necessary for the exams. If math isn't your subject, take someone else.
he is way to fast have no clue what he was talking about and he is white I would have been better off havinf an asian teacher
Nice Teacher but way too much hw and he would over explain on things that noone needed to know plus he grades badly he expects you to highlight sections and if you dont you lose points why does that matter its not math?!? If your not very good in math i suggest you do not take him.
Kind of a cool guy but kinda nerdy, gives out way too much homework and grades like a prick, for sure dont take this teacher

way too fast, talks too fast, unclear, not good!!!
this teacher goes very fast but he explains everything! if you don't like boring classes and you can keep up with the fastpace you will like this teacher
The Worst teacher I have ever taken!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!! He's too fast, gives too much homework, and VERY unclear about formulas. He's also VERY unoganized. You will look back at your notes and not understand a thing! This subject is not hard, but Mr. Everest makes it hard. He shouldn't even be teaching anymore because he's so bad at it
The worst teacher! Spends the entire classtime talking about himself, Physics and everything but the lesson, then expects you to do hundreds of problems! He actually bragged to another teacher how many students he fails each semester. Said it wasn't his responsibility. Did he ever consider that if he knew how to teach, students might learn?
terrible teacher, gives out waaaaay too much homework expecting you to spend 15 hours a week only doing math, his lectures are long and pointless, you're better off learning from a book than sitting their and listening to him talk about things that don't even apply to the class! steer clear of him
Please, do not waste your time on this one, gives a lot of homework and talks about a lot of other things than his lecture.
took him during the summer. dont ever do that unless you have a lot of time and are genius. other than that he will make you love math and you will enjoy his class and his attitude towards math
I got an A in this class, but I had to bust my ass. Dedicated all my time to this class as there is tons of homework. Only about 10 people finished the class, everyone else dropped, so take that for what you will. He teaches very fast, and not always necessarily on the topic of math. If you're good at math, then you'll do fine, if not, take another

he's tough at first but he explains pretty well compares to the math teacher I have now. Yes, there is hw and he goes over the test before the test, so that's actually good.
ok, Everest sucks. His lectures are unclear and he goes way to fast. Half the time he rambles on about pointless topics in an attempt to glorify himself. He grades like jerk (first time a teacher ever gave me minus points for SHOWING my work!)but if you are willing to put in the 15+ hours of out of class time and you are good at math you may be ok.
Very clear! I want to teach math and Mr. Everest has prepared me well. Wants students to understand. Helps students be successful in this class and beyond. A must for all who want to be successful. Thanks Mr. Everest!
he is fast and donot explain the procedure on how to solve the problem.
complete ****. graded me down on quizzes because he did not like my handwriting (which is totally neat by the way). he straight out told me that he couldn't tell on this one problem is my "x" was a capital X or not. i was like does it really ****ing matter????? he was sooo rude. such a horrible horrible man.
i really liked this teacher. he gave a lot of homework and went pretty fast through lecture, but he taught the lessons well and made everything make sense.
This guy talks way too fast, and he bounces from one topic to the next in 2 sec. . He explains things way harder than they really are, and he gives out WAY TOO MUCH H.W. !!!
I listen to my classmates whine about how much homework he gives. Yes, there is a fair amount of it. Yes, he talks fast but is very knowledgable & helpful if you give him the chance. Yes, he cracks bad jokes, but they are meant to help you remember his lessons. My suggestion to you is not take him if you aren't interested in working hard! Great guy.
Mr. Everest is a wonderful teacher with great knowledge in all the scinece related subjects. He makes math real fun to learn. I developed more interest in math after joining his class. He is also very helpful & energetic. Just pay attention in his class & do the homework sincerely. You will get A's easily, that's what I did, shahina.
he teach and explain too fast.
In all honesty I would not recommend this professor to anyone who has a weak background in math. He is a very smart guy, but it seems that he has lost all of his care for his students.
I THINK THIS GUY HAS HAD ONE TOO MANY SHOTS OF ESPRESSO. JUMPS AROUND FROM TOPIC TO TOPIC & ASSUMES THE CLASS KNOWS THINGS THAT HE HAS NOT TAUGHT. CRACKS REALLY BAD JOKES THAT ONLY HE LAUGHS AT. RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS OF HOMEWORK, PICKY GRADER. TESTS & QUIZZES ARE SUPER HARD. IS NOT HELPFUL. I TOOK HIS CLASS & FAILED BUT GOT AN A+ W/ ANOTHER TEACHER.
he was awful, i miserably failed & im generally good at math. he didnt hold my interest at all & was a freakin spaz! WAY to much damn hw, doesnt collect till test days, so plenty of time for you fall bahind and screw up! dont take, youll end up having to re-take the class anyways
He is the worst math teacher I have ever had, by far. He is unrealistic as he pours on homework after flying though lectures that are inconsistent in covering the material. He has no understanding that his class is not the only class that a student will have to take during the semester. Good Luck!
ALTHOUGH HE GIVES A LOT OF HOMEWORK AND IS STRICT ON GOOD FORM... HE'S ALRIGHT. PRE-CAL WAS PRETTY EASY. JUST DO YOUR WORK AND YOU'LL GET THE A. I TOOK HIM ON AN 8 WEEK CLASS AND IT WENT BY FAST!
Lots of homework. Picky grader for everything. Didn't like it if you left early. Sometimes he would confused me on his methods of solving math. I had to realy on my book alot, but it was probably just me. Just turn in your work on time and study for the test, you will be alright.
He is a good teacher but u have to go to class and do all your homework. You get A LOT of homework. He is very helpful too.
Everest is a wonderful professor. His tests are hard and he gives a lot of homework. However, he has throughly prepared me for Calculus and I look forward to taking it in the Fall. If you do not want to study hard and earn your grade don't waste your time taking his class. If you take his class and pass other professors will seem like cake.
ok this guy..he is thee worst math teacher ever. he made my 1st semester of college a bad math experience! he didnt help or had contact with his students..also ALOT of homework as if he were the only teacher on campus assigning hw!!n to make matters worse he doesnt help wen u need it!very picky grader.. n too quick on the lesson! DNT TAKE THE CLASS
People on here need to stop being lazy. I took him in the summer with a full time job and I play football, got an A! Yeah its alot of homework, but its worth your time to do it... so you understand whats going on. His homework and picky grading is all for a good cause.
LOTS OF HOMEWORK! PROUD OF HIMSELF AND ENJOYS SHARING HIS ACOMPLISHMENTS. NOT RECOMMEND
He is absolutely the worst here. It's not about being lazy,I did all the work.He just doesn't know how to teach. You endure the entire class time listening to him brag, then he spends 5 minutes on an incomprehensible lesson.Takes off points for things that have nothing to do with math, just to boost his inflated ego.I got A's in all subsequent math
in a nutshell:The Worst teacher I have ever taken!!!DO NOT TAKE HIM!! He's too fast, gives too much homework, and VERY unclear about formulas. Hes also VERY unorganized. You will look back at your notes and not understand a thing! This subject is not hard, but Mr. Everest makes it hard. He shouldn't even be teaching anymore because he's so bad at it
I took 150 strictly for review cause I hadn't had math in so long even though I was always good in math. His lectures were completely incomprehensible & is an unreasonably harsh grader. I've never had such a poor teacher. It is beyond me why he is still there. I'm graduating from a univ in math this year and I nearly gave up due to everest.
Mr.Everest is a pretty funny guy. The workload is NOT that bad, if you think that's a lot then try taking Medrano. She gives way more work but she's a great teacher. Mr.Everest just tends to get off topic a lot. It's hard to understand what he's explaining because he goes from section 3.1-3.5 like that and you still think he's on 3.1!
Professor Everest is a fun teacher, but if you are not that great at math do not take his class. His passion for math really shows but due to this he tends to get caught up in it. His class is fast passed and a lot of homework, but if that's your thing, take 150 from this guy.
HORRIBLE! EXTREMELY picky when grading...Do NOT take him! He sucks at teaching and thinks he's funny, which he is NOT! TONS of HW, avoid him, you will regret it!
Mr. Everest goes really really fast. If you never covered the material before in your life, you will never understand it! He's also very discouranging. "This stuff is just bread and butter!" or "If you can't do this, how can you progress up to a higher math?" yea. Don't take him. Seriously!
I took him for a winter session. If your able to learn math in one day with some instruction then he's good to go with. But if you need to take it slow i wouldn't suggest on taking him. He's helpful, but you have to know what your doing somewhat otherwise your lost. Kinda boring but that depends on you. He's nice but just not for slow learners.
BEST teacher I've ever had. Took him for Winter09 and because of him, I understand the material like the back of my hand. He goes above and beyond to make sure you understand the material but he is strict on attendance, format and well pretty much everything but thats what you need so you won't slack off! THANK YOU MR.EVEREST!
Anyone with a clear passion for mathematics, and I know there are people out there who are, this man is for you. If you, however, need someone to guide you through math in ANY way, take someone else. He's clearly into his subject but much more for himself and those for him. If you struggle in any way in math, take another teacher.
TOO FAST..makes you feel bad if you ask questions..His test are easy but you have to do it HIS WAY or it doesnt really matter that its rights. Dont take him if you dont have to..theres not point in studying for a quiz if you get points taken away just because you forgot to box your answer and u showed too much scratchwork really I still dont get it
COCKY & RUDE
Everest is an OK teacher if you can keep up. He talks extremely fast! Expect a lot of homework! He takes off points honestly for any reason! Very picky! If you thought Tussy was picky, Everest is worse! He took off points for writing variables in capital letters!
If you are not a fast learner...DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!he goes really fast and he is too picky about homework and tests. He expects you to know everything. He is hard to follow and you easily get lost. He can be on a totally different section and you don't even know it. This was kind of a review class for me & i like math...but no.
Do not take Mr. Everest! He doesn't know how to teach math so his students can understand. It really says something that everyone in my entire class including me was getting a "D" as their final grade when he posted the class grades on his door. You'll never be able to climb Mt. Everest, so don't even try!
He is a good teacher. He teaches at a fast pace, but I'm used to it since I took calculus in high school and it's basically just review for me. He is too picky about homework and tests/quizzes. If you are not a fast learner, don't take this class.
This professor is the worst instructor I have ever had. I don't know why he is even called an instructor or why he is still there! I guarantee that any positive comments about him were entered by Everest himself!
he is very anal. but it is for the best intrest in the student. he wants everything done according to the rules.
Assigns too much HW in the areas where you don't need the practice. Lectures don't make sense. Taught myself from the book. Could have used a lot probs of HW from the difficult concepts and none-little on the easy concepts. Wonderful person though. Will help you if he can. Has fun programs for the Calculator too!
Extremely fast paced, he is Very picky with form will mark off for everything! Over half my class dropped. He is very intellegent but he simply assumes that we all should be experts in the class previous to taking it. I am completely lost in the class i reteach myself the things he lectures on in class. I am failing and im used A's & high B's
He's anal about everything. If one thing is wrong in the problem, the whole problem is wrong. Not even partial credit. He goes too fast for me. I had to drop it.
i suggest not taking him if you can avoid it. he doesn't teach that well. also, if he doesn't like you, you wont do good in his class. there is a lot of hw and quite a lot of tests/quizzes
I would not take this teacher he is full of himself. he is CRAZY picky on HW problems if you miss spell something or dont do on problem on each paper. he is a tree waster...I DO NOT ADVISE YOU TAKE HIM!!!
I pity Everest. Poor guy seems like he has no fun teaching a 150 class. Because he's able to course nimbly through the material assigned to teach, students can sometimes get left behind. Halfway through the semester I gave up trying to follow along in lecture, and switched to writing everything down in hopes of being able to understanding it later.
He gives out a LOT of hw, which accounts for a significant part of your grade. He is picky, but it's on stuff that MATTERS. I took precalc in the winter & it should be the only class you take in an intersession. Tests are not that hard but you need to do all your hw. He gives handouts that help & if you don't understand he stays late to explain.
if you want to pursue a career in math i suggest you take him, honestly though the way he teaches is tough. he wants the work shown in his own math way, not the way we were taught in high school which is bs if you ask me. he marked me off because i made a fraction with a slash and not the horizontal bar
He is wayy too fast paced. he talks too much and dosent even give a chance to ask questions during his lecture. he gives wayy too much homework. he knows his math and he thinks everyone else in the class does too. bad teacher! i like math but his class bores me!
Unless you are a math major, do NOT take this class with this professor. He knows math but he does not know how to teach it to his students. Phrases like "busting it up", "pseudo busting", and "john travolta parabolas" are not condusive to successful leanering. Plus he often goes off track and trys to teach you things that you wont use untill a hig
HE is hard. The highest grade in the class was an 85%. nobody got an A haha
gives to much homework. talks to fast. uses his damn calculator to much. boring. just aviod this class.
Everest is a very intelligent man. He often gets side tracked with taking the concept to another level. I give him props for trying to get the class to think beyond the average lecture and mathematical procedures. Negative aspect is that he talks fast but if your smart and have an interest in math and science and plan to take advanced math than you
he is obsessed with his calculator. he speaks way to fast and only goes over one example to explain himself. DONT TAKE HIM!!!!!
They should rename this class how to use a graphing calculator 101, cuz it seems all we did was use the it. Deducts points on the test for any lil thing. I busted my @$$ and worked hard the entire semester and he gave me a D. Worst teacher in citrus. Hes the reason i dont wanna be a math major anymore. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Uses MyMathLab for hw and every hw is a quiz.FYI, NEVER EVER use MyMathLab for hw, to me that's the worst way for students to learn math.Plus the hw barely reflect on his quizzes and test. Also all questions are problem solving so if ur not good with problem solving ur going to fail every single one. jumps from one section to another without announ
He is not a good teacher. He talks alot as if a commercial that never ends. The class was totally boring. He ignores you when you have a question in class.
Hello Citrus College! Why is this guy still teaching when there are qualified profs out there? I'm now in grad school & can look back & say that Everest is the worst Ive ever had. He has no business being there other than feeding his over-inflated ego
Talks to fast, tests are hard! I have always had an a in math I took his class and got a c. He likes things done his way.
I learned more about his family then i did about math. He is super anal about how you set up every single problem. And will mark ypu off points for every little thing.
Prof. Everest has a passion for teaching math & helps every student who truely wants the help. Many students lack the confidence it takes to do well in math and Prof. Everest helps you find that confidence. Let's just say I have taken MATH 150 a total of 5 times...My 5th time was with Prof. Everest and because he kept me on my toes I finally PASSED
Everest isn't as bad as everyone makes him seem. He's a good teacher and will help you if you ask. He even has office hours when you can walk in. It does take some time getting used to his format and the way he wants you to set up the problem. If you pay attention you'll pass. He's better than what I was expecting from these other comments.
These comments had me so scared to take his Precal class this summer. DONT BELIEVE IT. He is THOROUGH that is true. Students complain he makes u show too much work. YOURE SUPPOSED TO SHOW ALL YOUR WORK It's math! He's very detailed but I've never been so prepared for the next class. I got an A. Because of him I'm confident I'll get an A in Calc too
Class from HELL!! Assigns lots of homework, very picky grading tests, talks fast, and really knows his math, but sucks trying to explain it. He's a cool dude, but as soon as I had to quit my job and get a tutor just to understand the lectures, I knew it WAS NOT going to be good semester no matter how many notes I took. My advice: DON'T TAKE HIM!!
Good teacher! Heard he was hard before starting the class and he kind of his. He really knows what he is talking about. All of the homework is online and you have an infinite amount of time to get 100% on it. Tests aer pretty hard but he has time for you to study before them. All together if you want an easy B take his class
terrible teacher. He knows his stuff amazingly but as a teacher is terrible. I finished with a D with Fs on about all the tests and quizzes and I actually enjoy math, so I retook the class with a highly rated teacher and recieved an A. He told us the first day of class, forget everything you know about math, thats not how I do it.
two points away from C-, if you are reading this guy needs to go back and LEARN HOW TO TEACH. I hope he reads this and reflect on his prehistoric teaching style, shame on Citrus for having him....down with this guy
Pro. E is the most useless instructor I've ever encountered. His "teaching" speed is something compared to "Fast/ brief review." I took his class as a first time Trigonometry student, and with in the first week i needed a tutor to actually teach me what he was talking about. Ive never been so disappointed in a class room professor before.
Great teacher. Moves fast. Tells you not only how but why. Pay attention. Don't miss class. Notes are very useful. Don't really use book. Likes to talk about his calculator.
hes really smart &knows his stuff, but he teaches as if he expects students to be math majors. you have to do it his way or its wrong even if the answer is right. He goes on tangents &speeds through the lesson since he runs out of time talking about other stuff. hes a nice guy &he'll help you out,but i feel like it left me even more confused after.
He is really good teacher , and very helpful. He knows what he teach . He always gives take home quiz and every exam question come from on this. He is fast but you can ask many times , he would like to answer .
he is one of the best math teachers ive ever seen. he really knows the math. but he is hard! he goes through every single detail in your paper! to be honest, thats how you can improve cuz he's here to tell you your weaknesses and because of that he is hard! but so helpful, he enjoys teaching and even after the class you can sit with him to help u!
This teacher is terrible. He talks WAY too fast, has anger issues, and does not help us at all. He will make you feel stupid if you ask questions, and grades way too hard. I lost 2 points on the midterm because he "didn't like my writing." DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
He is a really good Professor, at first I though he was goin to be really mean and bad as the comments suggest. However, this soon changed as in the class he explained th "Why?" of mathematics. If you are taking precalc and like math you will love the class. Also, he lets you a graphing calculator which is really helpful when you take the test.
This class was pretty hard due to his grading. He is a super picky grader, but he means well; he just wants you to learn the correct format. Aside from that, he's a great professor! I loved learning about why things the way they are in math. Don't be scared by the other comments. He also had a cool mustache may I conclude with that statement.
I think hes on coke or something he just goes so goddam fast, jumps of subject, even confuses himself. I entered his class as a first time trig student and i had to drop his class because i couldnt learn it and ive always been able to figure math out. i would never ever take this professor in my life.
this professor is really dedicated to his role but if you have another class 10 min after the class is suppose to end, make sure you let him know because he never finished on time or begins class on time. I was kate 3 times to my class because of him not finishing on time.
Save yourself the trouble. Seriously. I took his Intermediate Algebra class, and it was WAY too complicated. If you're very good at math, and you just want to brush up on the material, go for it. But if you're not the best at math, and you need to LEARN it, DO NOT take Everest.
He goes very fast, and it could be hard to understand him. He jumps from section to section, then back to the original section. It is hard to know whats on the test, but HE LOVES Math. He teaches you the "WHY" in Math, which i loved. I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Everest!
Let me set this straight, he's a good professor despite what you read on here. He really teaches you how to use the graphing calc and let's you use it on the test. He does demand correct math syntax but it's not too hard. Homework is online & easy. If you plan on being a CS or math major TAKE HIM. He knows quite a bit about programming.
He really knows his stuff; however, he can't teach it. Is sad how he has to prove every single thing in math, and lose the interaction with the student. You just go there to sit down and try to stay awake. If it wasn't for SI and jorge the SI leader i would have not passed the class, he was a great and prepares you very good for the tests!!!
Professor Everest was tough. However, what he did teach, he certainly had a passion for. Yes, it was boring at times, but I lot.
I have never seen a professor with such love for the subject before. He is enthusiastic, however a bit fast paced which can be confusing. But hey, its a college course, they aren't meant to be easy just for the sake of passing you. If you pass in this class its because you earned it.
great teacher. He's very passionate about the stuff. His teaching techniques are genius. Definitely recommend this professor if you actually want to learn something.
Everest is a genuinely nice professor who is there to help you succeed. Unfortunately, he makes the material more complicated than it needs to be. He gets caught up in his own examples and drags the class out longer. You WILL learn, it'll just take longer than it needs to. The course consisted of online hw, 4 quizzes, 3 exams, and a final.
Professor Everest's lectures are fast paced, but he gives supplemental study guides to reinforce the ideas. If a student has a question, he goes above and beyond to answer it. The aforementioned study guides are also carbon copies of the midterms. Quizzes are take home, and extra credit is available. How could you no get an A?
The teacher was too picky when it came to exams, quizzes, and homework. In class he talked very fast and if people didn't seem interested he would give them attitude. He always kept us 5 mins after class and never let us go early. I would never take this teacher again! He cares about math, but doesnt care about people too much in my opinion. Say NO
awesome teacher, teaches you a lot. If you want to know your math then this is the professor for you. I wish he would teach calculus. I highly recommend taking him.
Worst mistake ever taking this guy. If you're ok self teaching yourself trig, then take him. If you actually want legitimate examples and guidance, go else where. He spent over an hour in class talking about stuff complexity irrelevant to the class, but then you have a ton of hw about stuff you never learned, you've been warned, don't be a dummy.
does not give you the tools to succeed. talks about irrelevant stuff for 85% of the class time then rushes through his "lecture" leaving you stranded for the tests.if you actually want to learn something, take anyone else but him.
He does go pretty fast, but he will help you if you need it! Easy Online homework!
He is a really good professor. He may be faster paced but its not hard to follow his lectures. He posts past tests as study tools for the tests, they are just different numbers. Easily got over 100% in his class.
Not sure why most people say that he is hard. I consider him one of the best math professors. He doesn't bullsh!t and he actually teaches. His tests aren't hard and comes with extra credit. He gives out quizzes which are take home (plus he has the key online)so I don't understand how anyone can fail his quizzes. Hw is definitely doable.
Everest talks too fast. He talks about his family more than he should. He is extremely picky about you set problems. I raised my hand to ask a question and he looked at me and continued the lecture. He puts past midterms and quizzes online and they don't help. Not all teachers can teach and Everest is one of them.
I like this instructor very much even though I could not manage to pass his course. The class was too fast for me and this subject is too difficult for me personally. I do not blame him. He is very nice.
Nice guy overall but cannot teach. Its either his way or no way. Plus homework was on line and it wasn't much help. The examples from the homework were completely different from his lectures. I once asked him for help and he said to refer to the book. Yet, we used the book rarely.
Prof.Everest is one of the cool professors in Citrus. Not just he knows his stuffs, he got this funny way to explain but only certain people could really enjoy it. I would not recommend this class if you don't have any algebra AND trigonometry background since it is a very fast-paced class in summer. I got an A, so near to an A+
Took him for precal and trig. Really fast paced but he goes over everything you need before you enter calculus. Pretty challenging exams, which I appreciate because it really prepared me for calculus. If you're up for a challenge and can handle fast paced lectures, take him. Other thank that, He has pretty admirable facial hair.
I am HORRIBLE at math. I didn't do very well in his class because of the tests, BUT I learned more in that class than I have learned in any other math class. He is very fast paced and you might feel lost at first but once you understand his rhythm you'll learn to love him. Super nice, funny, loves teaching, and will explain things inside and out!
Yes he goes really fast, yes he grades tough BUT if you put in the effort you will do good. He gives keys to study and quizzes are take home. He is funny also. I dont like the speed he teaches but he does have to teach a lot within 2 hours. Homework is on mymathlab. Asking questions after class seems like a bother to him. Still a good teach though.
You'll learn math like you have never in his class. He knows his stuff, talks a lot about things that shouldn't be talking and rushes but just pay attention when he teaches because he prepares you well and stay on top. Practice and study. Is hard professor, but YOU earn the grade you get. Plus you ave extra credit on quizzes and tests.
He is the most nit picky professor that i have ever encountered. If you got all the math right but you missed an equals sign he removes too many points. He talks about personal things and confuses the hell out of you. He also forces you to pay too much for books.
Everest is not that bad, I took him for Trig then took his pre-calc class the next semester. The pre-calc class is INTENSE. 3 hours everyday, jam packed lectures and homework due every night on mymathlab. I used to think his teaching style was too fast but it has greatly improved my math. He knows his stuff. PAY ATTENTION, STUDY! you will be fine!
Picky grader. Has own set of math definitions that not all mathematicians go by and insists he's right. Still, a reasonably easy class if you pay attention. Tests are pretty easy but long, especially the final exam. Thus, it becomes less of a "thinking" exam and more of a "copy previous patterns and ways of solving" exam in order to finish on time.
Took him for Trig & Pre-Calc. He is knowledgable & loves his subject. His cons include: speaking way too quickly, covering too much at once, overcomplicating topics, and having a "smarter-than-you" demeanor. I would recommend him for Trig but not Pre-Calc. Certain days he would lecture for 3 hours nonstop, causing students to undergo zombification.
This professor was ridiculous, I had all the right answers on a test but because he wanted them done EXACTLY how he wanted I got an 810 on all the questions! He is way too picky of a professor. We hardly ever use the book but yet he wants you to bring it to class. His lectures are extremely confusing. he pretty much expects us to teach ourselves.
Robert Everest is an excellent professor. His passion for mathematics is lucid and he will present the information to you in a very straightforward, simplistic method. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit, so it is fairly easy to improve your grade. Show up to class and put in the dedication; you should receive an easy A.
I absolutely hated this class. This teacher is terrible!! He's way too picky on his grading, he wants it done how he teaches or you get points docked off. His lectures are long and boring. He is pretty funny though and I liked his personality, but as a teacher; not so much. You DO NOT need the book!!
Horrible, that is all I have to say.
BEWARE Literally the worst math teacher I have ever had. He spent the 1st 2 classes rambling about geometry software that is not even relevant to the class, teaches completely different methods than are in the hw. When I consulted him for help, he patronized me in front of other students and told me I should be able to teach myself. HORRIBLE CLASS.
Professor Everest is the best math teacher in precalculus. He teaches very clearly. He always helps his students when they ask him questions. The most important is he is very patient. Listening to his class is kind of enjoying.
Do not take this math class. They way he grades is impossible to get a perfect score, or even a good score at that. His lectures do not make sense because either he explains 12 different ways to do one problem (even though on the test your only aloud to do HIS way) or he goes way off topic.
Good professor but very tough. On quizzes and exams, expects to have the problems done his way or he will deduct points. Gives homework on MyMathLab. The site was helpful but confusing because the site has a different way of solving a problem than what was shown in class. Keys of old quizzes and exams are up on his website. Study, study, STUDY!
Person-wise, a really great person. Professor-wise would not recommend. Really hard grader and a big stickler for things that he teaches his way. If you miss any class make sure you have friends that can give you notes and explain whats going on. Also be prepared to go on tangents that have nothing to do with what you are learning.
Doesn't have a curriculum set up, no general course outline established for the class to follow, and you'll literally enter the classroom for an exams guessing what type of questions you'll get. Absolutely no textbook use, homework online via MyMathLab. Taken two courses with this instructor, both times I have gotten D's. Avoid at all costs.
Everest is straight-forward and really knows what he's talking about, but if you're not mathematically gifted, be ready for a long semester. The homework is relatively easy, which was a life-saver for me, but the tests are nearly impossible to do well on, unless you're a math person. He grades very, very harshly.
He is a tough grader and he also want the test his way. I would not recommend taking he's class.
Great professor. Really passionate about math. Extremely tough grader, but he always tells you exactly how he will grade. No surprises. Don't miss lecture. Don't fall asleep, he will call you out. Do the study guides. Took him for Trig and Pre-Cal. Got A's in both.
Mr. Everest is ALWAYS off topic, all homework and quizes are online. Test are in class, notes DO NOT correlate with the test. He is a strict grader and you get marked off points for showing too much work on your test. If you're good at teaching yourself & want to spend two hours listening to pointless rants, then rob Everest is the guy for you.
Mr. E is very accessible and eager to help his students. He wants his students to succeed so he offers take home quizzes and many opportunities for extra credit.
Mixed feelings about Everest, one thing for sure is that he is a tough grader but tells you what he expects on the tests and quizzes anyway, plus he puts up keys for both of them. He will really teach you how to do math and will improve your skills greatly, but he tends to go off topic a lot and isn't that great of a teacher.
He is a cool guy but as a teacher he isn't. His lectures go EVERYWHERE and his style of teaching was for the test but to answer the homework you have to go by the book's teaching. I left that class lost every day.
DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN. Not a good teacher. Makes everything as complicated as it can be. Trust me
DO NOT TAKE! Lectures are comprised of him talking about his wife, coaching his kid, or his stay at UCSD. The time he does dedicate to trig is so misleading and over complicated. His grading is ridiculous, if you get the right answer but not "his way" you don't pass. Online homework is terrible as well!
I respect his knowledge. He knows math inside out, but is not a very good teacher. If you don't learn easily: do not take. He buries the learning in different tangents that can leave you wondering what you just tried to learn. He is very clear about his standards and what is expected on tests. Just follow his rules. Get a study group _
Alright let's get this out of the way if you have no idea what you're doing this class is gonna be hard here's some pointers: Study his practice quizzes and practice midterms his actual quizzes are very similar you may get a different trigonometric function but otherwise it's the same He is a nice guy and he wants you to pass but hes unorthodox
He is more concerned about his schedule than explaining the material. His lectures are really fast and when he asks for questions? if one person says he gets it, he assumes the whole class does too. only has one way of teaching and doesn't give alternatives. Also talks way too much about his personal life which takes away time from the lecture.
He knows math like the back of his hand. He gets distracted & the class can be a bit boring, but overall one of the best math professors I've ever had. He teaches & explains through many dif examples & will spend time clarifying for one student before moving on. I left the class with so much knowledge & I wish he taught my next required math
Best math teacher I've had
I believe he made me a better math student. His grading can be hard, but it was for my benefit. He made a lot of time to help out of class, and gave a lot of XC. Passing his classes are very doable, he gives prior keys to the test so you know whats on the test. mymath 4 HW I didnt like. Uses lots of math language, so can be tricky to understand.
Everest knows his material very well and explains it clearly if you ask questions. Hes willing to help if youre confused. During lectures he does get off topic a bit sometimes and will go past the ending time of the class. He offers extra credit homework assignments and extra helping hours before the final.
If I would've taken this online rating to heart, I wouldn't have absorbed nearly as much Mathematical knowledge this summer. If you're serious about learning proper Math, Mr. E. is for you. If you want someone easy, who will let you slide with improper form, seek another professor. Rob Everest will prepare you for the rest of your college career.
No! Everest DOES know his material well because hes been teaching so long, however after all his years he still FAILS to teach it in a way for students to understand. He lectures too much on the guts of how the problems came and less on the general mathematical concept of it. He will rob you as much as he can if not written his way. DO NOT TAKE!
Take as a last resort. Explanations are quick in his own confusing, convoluted method rather than out of the book, then talks about his personal life at length. You need to pay to access the homework which will eat most of your study time without reinforcing the material. Equations must be done his way or you'll be docked points for improper form.
Spend the majority of class time playing with calculators, goes really deep into his personal life about his family and how things are at home, you will be told "study this" and the test/quiz will not be even a little similar. Ask questions and feel condescended. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and took him again and still failed.
Mr. E. will overwhelm you, confuse you, make you question concepts you think you already know, sometimes even life itself. But in his deep analysis of the seemingly irrelevant, you begin to adopt his thought process, and truly begin to understand not only the subject at hand, but the inner workings of Mathematics. Took him for 150 & 175, no regret.
This professor always teach in his own style and you can't get everything understand that things you don't digest by reviewing your book, which is paid a lot of money, Because everything he teaches is beyond the book! He is so picky and always grade by his own toughest style, you can go ask anyone in tutoringroom, everyone knows his test is hard!!!
Mr. E is an awesome professor. I took him for trig and felt he did everything conceivable to teach the material in ways that even the least math savvy person could understand and appreciate. Mr. E goes out of his way to set stem students up for success as they go on to precal and calculus.
A trig class for students who already know trig. 2/3 of each class was either discussing trivial math history, reviewing algebra concepts/terms in useless detail, or doubling back to fix mistakes when we actually did trig examples. Math and physics majors beware, even if you know the subject, Don't risk your GPA on his absurd grading algorithm.
This professor is the worst of the worst, if you don't trust me, you can regret afterwards. In his class, you will learn about his family and how he coached his son or children, but nothing about math. He just says nonsense in his class and mean all the time
WORST PROFESSOR AT CITRUS COLLEGE!!! I'm taking him for ma 175 and he teaches multiple sections at once without any explanation, makes at least 5 errors a class while teaching, keeps us 5 mins late everyday, and doesn't actually teach the sections. he does problems that seem way too complicated compared to the book. Will be dropping
Professor Everest is incredibly intelligent. He makes sure that you're prepared for the following math course by providing extreme detail to every concept. He moves quickly. If you are unintelligent, then consider a teacher that will compensate for your own deficiency. If you are able to keep up, you will not regret the knowledge you'll leave with.
Everest is one of the best teachers I came across. He is passionate about math, and wants all of his students to succeed. He stresses importance on your understanding and proper form which prepares you for future classes. He offers a ton of extra credit and your grade is NOT dependent on tests. Take him if you really want to understand math.
Prof Everest comes to class very unorganized & doesn't have a clear agenda of what he's going to be presenting, often will mess up on examples and confuse himself and isn't clear of when he's going from one topic to the next. If you need structure in math do not take his class worst math prof I've ever had. Talks abt personal life way too much!
I think Professor Everest is okay because he d use Canvas for Math160 resources like homework which is something new that I tried for the time which I think he can be the worst professor ever.
I took Mr Everest's class over winter semester and couldn't have been happier! He's an extremely caring professor and does his best to make sure everyone understands and is onboard before moving on, especially because math is such a tough subject for many people. He puts a lot of effort into his classes and expects you to match his effort!
I took this class in the Fall of 2020. I took the hybrid version of this class which meant I had to do some of my own learning. Professor E was a really caring teacher and cared about all of us. I can tell he really likes his job. I had a little bit of trouble staying on task but if you attend the lectures then you should be fine!
Nice instructor, but needs to improve his organization, he keeps talking and it's impossible to figure out which part of the course he is talking about. You're asked to do PRE-sections, which is a complete waste of time because trying to teach yourself sections you haven't seen in class yet isn't productive and it's time I could've spent practicing
Professor Everest is a professor who truly cares for your grade as well as math itself. One of the positives yet negatives about, Mr. Everest is his passion in lectures yet sometimes over-rambling. Mr. Everest can lose track of time and over-ramble in each lecture but besides that he offers a lot of extra credit and informs the student beforehand.
I had to use some Trig for a home project and it reminded me of Mr. Everest. I took his trig class in 2014 and like his teaching so much I wanted him again for pre-calc. He is fast but stops to make sure you understand, answers all questions, and stays after class to answer more. He is very thorough about how you write out your math.
His lectures can be long and on going since the class I took is hybrid. But overall as long as you do the textbook work you'll be fine. He gives extra credit, give you unlimited tries on the homework and he gives you 2 attempts for all quizzes and tests. As long as you do the work you'll be fine, just stay on top of things.
Mr.E is a good teacher! He cares about student's grades and will help you build a solid base for your next class math. If you take in WNT or SS be ready to study 3-5 hours on your own to do your homework and study. He gives you 2 attempts for hw, quizzes, the 3 test, and final. Unlimited attempts for hw ?'s. If you put in the work, you'll do great!
Mr. E was the most impactful professor I had during my Math ADT. He is intrinsically motivated by the love of mathematics to teach. I had him for trig and pre-calc in 2018; the foundation he provided along with rigorous corrections gave me an edge through Calc 1, 2, 3, MA211 and MA212. I changed my major from pre-eng to math because of him.
Passionate about the subject, he tends to ramble, making the class unengaging. I've never dozed off in a class until now. Teaching pre-calc to those already familiar, he's challenging for newcomers; failure is probable without prior knowledge.
Everest's class can be a rollercoaster - his passion for math is clear, but his teaching style can be hit or miss. unstuck ai helped me stay on top of the tricky concepts. Worth it if you're a dedicated math student.
Good professor, I remember taking this professor back in the spring 2022
