very cool teacher. his tests are straight out of the notes he prints out for you. you have to study it is extremely essential to passing his class. i recomend him he is extrememly knowledgable.

SOOOO easy and very knowledgeable. Test are STRAIGHT from the lecture notes. Review a few minutes before the test and you'll be fine. Very easy class!!! There's no excuse not to get an A!

he is defenitely a very good professor, I recommend him. The class is so much easier with him that with other professors, he is very funny. You will never stop learning with him , and will never get out of class early unless is lab.

He is great!! Super organized, clear, and calm. He applied so much to what I needed to know and is very hard, so you better study, but he is fair and you can go to his office and he will answer any questions except for hw questions before they are due. I loved this class.

Gessner tells it like it is. He's VERY organized and he KNOWS his Micro. Has little patience for students needing to be "spoon fed." Expects you to study daily 1-2 hours. STUDY THE NOTES before the test(don't waste your time on the book). Great professor...just a little hard on the eyes.

If you go to class it's easy his test are mainly from his lectures!

Great teacher, very smart. He explains things well and all of his test and homework assignments are on his lecture notes. It is a lot of work but I don't think you will find a microbiology coarse that doesn't give a lot of work.

Gessner is an incredible professor. He KNOWS his Microbiology, and is always prepared and organized. Go to every class, pay attention, take notes, study the notes, and you'll do just fine in his class...and learn A LOT! You'll never get out early, but he makes the class fun and interesting.

I finally got my money's worth out of a class! He should teach classes to other professors on how to run a well-organized, effective class. He grades fair, gives opportunities for extra points, and is a lot of fun. Just don't talk when he's talking; that's rude anyway and adults should know better.

I really enjoyed this class. Dr. Gessner does an excellent job at teaching. I would recommend his class. I had to work really hard, but my final grade made it all worthwhile.

This class was very intense.Be prepared to study his notes every day. The lab was very organised and detailed. I like his grading method...you get test results back the same day. Not too many bonus points. He has a good sense of humor. One tip, if you notice him repeating something it will show up on a test or quiz. Good Luck!

Get ready for a wild ride, with pop up quizzes,homeworks,labs and regular tests you wont have time to get bored.Dont bother asking him what's on the test because everything on the packets are test materials.Best advice :dayly studies,get in a good serious study group,and do not underestimate anything even his funny graphs.Enjoy!Microbes are fun.

He finds a way to make micro attractive and it is interesting to see what he has to say at each class. All the materials are given to you. Study EVERYTHING. He is fair and will help you if you ask. I enjoyed his class but it was intense at times. Live, breath, and sleep Micro; it's all around you - protect yourself and others. GOOD LUCK, ENJOY!

Alot of info covered in this class, but Dr Gessner presents it in an interesting and sometimes entertaining way. Notes are preprinted, and must be followed/completed in class. If your want to learn and are willing to work for your grade, I highly recommend Dr Gessner.

Wants you to learn. He knows his subject. He is one of the best teachers I have had. That said, he is a bit emotional and tempermental at times, but he is well worth putting up with. If you are willing to work, you cant fail. If you wait until the last minute to do your work, you will fail.

HE IS GREAT, I RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE.

Dr Gessner is a very organized and effecient teacher. All tests were graded and returned same day. An outline of each chapter was provided online. We printed them and kept to them and tested from them. If you study the outline and turn in your assignments on time, you will pass. If you work hard you will get a good grade.

I don't know what class the student took who said Dr Gessner was a robot, but I thought he was a very nice guy, cared about us as students and was very organized and fair. His labs were clear and he has powerpoints that help review- I enjoyed this class alot

I highly recommend taking Dr.Gessner's class. His lectures are interesting, and if you pay attention in class and study the test packets he gives you, then you will get an A! There are no trick questions on his tests and he gives multiple chances to bring up your grade through homeworks and bonus quizzes. He is by far the best Micro teacher at VCC

Great teacher! He is a very smart man who knows what he is talking about and is willing to help. He makes the material very easy to understand and his notes are very organized. Great handwriting. You must study for his tests and learn all the specifics in lab.

Made learning fun and interesting. Dr. Gessner is always willing to help his student's succeed. He has an open door policy. If you work hard and study at least 2hours a day, you can get an A in his class.

I loved taking this class with him. The class was very well organized and basically if you go to class and study the notes you will pass. He makes this hard class easy to understand and the textbook is used for homework only, so no reading long chapters.

Micro is not going to be easy..atleast Dr. Gessner makes it clear and direct. The class is intense but it will only help you prepare for what's to come in nursing school. He's not easy by any means, but he's super smart and you'll definately learn about the "bacteria/virus world" you are about to embark into...

Easy A-attend class, take notes, and study notes! The exam comes directly from the notes. Homework comes directly from the book. Lab is easy as long as you follow directions. Extremely helpful and even gives you his cell number so you can call him whenever you have a question. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed in life.

This is a hard class. You must STUDY to pass! He gives you notes already so pay attention during lecture. He gives 5 homework assignments that are very easy. Book is for HW. Lecture quizes 20q, Lab quizes 5q, and Lecture exams 50q. Labs are interesting, he goes through them step by step and he SHOWS you how to do them. Great Professor!

Professor Gessner is the best Micro teacher to take. Trust me I hated his class with a passion and couldn't wait until it was over, but he is a good professor, and all the test come from his notes. Dont believe the slackers, this class is amazing and easy. He has a study guide for every test and what ever is on the study guide is on the test. Also, he has easy HW that take 5 minutes to do and a easy A. Overall, I got an A in the class, for those who say he is hard maybe you forgot that were in college not high school.

The professor is pretty cool. Hes very clear in what he wants and expects gives good instructions in lab. Is always available to help. You must study for the test they are not hard you just have to know your stuff. Other than that hes a great teacher to take =)

Micro-Great professor. Only for the serious minded student. U have 2 study, but he gives u everything you need to know. Walks u through lab so you WILL understand. Use a tape recorder for better grade, but will repeat over and over what u r tested on. U will have 2 study cuz he expects you to learn material not just memorize it for test

Yes, Dr Gessner can be very rude or sarcastic, however, if you want a really good teacher to prepare you for health programs he is the one. His teaching skills are excellent and he shows you how to prepare yourself when it comes to multitasking. I was taking A&P 1, Medical Term along with this class and managed to get a B. It's not ez. But worth it

I just finished Dr. Gessner and got an A for the class - What it took? listening to my recordings when he reads his lecture package and taking notes from those. Also answer the first page "learning objectives" his test comes from there - do question by question as he goes to his package

If you are thinking about taking him, he is a GREAT teacher. Dont listen to everyone who says his hard and so on. If you listen in class, do your work, study like your suppose to, it will be easy.

Prof Gessner is NOT rude, just sarcastic: if you have sense of humor - you won't take his jokes seriously. He is CRYSTAL CLEAR about the material you need to know for the test. You don't need a book in his class, powerpoints he uses are plentyful! Make sure you study for his class A LOT - then you will be confident when taking a test. I got an A!!!

Great teacher. I did not do well in his class but that was my own fault. He lets you know what he expects of the class and his syllabus is very clear. He really enjoys biology and it shows. He is not the most approachable person at times but I would take another class with him.
