great teacher
Boring as Hell...
he did a talk for us and i could barely stay awake. Interesting, but soo boring!
Could NOT keep my eyes open. Quizzes aren't difficult, no final, but still....
if you value your time & education, drop his course
Looks, acts, talks like LURCH-will put you to sleep no problem!
These guys are losers. Fahrnkopf is really bright and intellectual. He's easy
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
He talks a lot only because he knows his stuff well. The guy is from stanford! He is super intelligent. If you listen to him, you'll know the stuff. Dont know why the loser below me (stuck pencil in my eye....)is complaining about him.
smart guy, but like all philosophy teahcers he's on crack, and hes quite boring unless you like talking about things that are far out there
Hey, I think he's really smart, so what if he's a little weird? So am I.
His classes are interesting. Some problems are that ussually does not allow student to talk and cut some questions. On the other hand he is understanding and handle well a very complex course.
Overall, I thought he was a good professor. Sure, he tends to be a tad bit boring, but it's interesting material. His quizzes and essays are marked pretty fairly. He's very smart.

very easy
Bob is a genius of a man; however if you don't like philosophy, then don't take his courses. He is not there to make philosophy interesting, he is there to teach it to those who are genuinely interested in the subject.
awsomeeeeeeeeeee i love rob ...hahaha he is the man , easiest teacher i have ever had, i didnt eben open the book, got a A- , zzzzzzzzz
OK teacher - if u do the work and read that boring book u can get a good mark; 50% quizzes, 30% essay; 10% debate; 10% attendance. I'd take another class with him cause he is easy, i jus didn't work that hard. He tends to be a bit boring, so morning class
sorry dudes, but i thought he was zzzzzz....
zzzzzzzzzzzz >____<
VERY EASY! he's weird and boring but i didn't study worth **** and still got an A-. if you can write well and BS you'll get a good mark.
He likes to talk... only one little question, he can explain it in 10,000,000 words. BUT he is very nice and kind.
gives you the questions to study for in advance. if you listen in class, you'll do great... but it's hard to stay awake because he's keeps on going on and on about the same thing for like 10-20 minutes. but he's a nice guy...
Dr. Fahrnkopf is by far the most philosophically minded instructor you're likely to meet. As a philosophy major, I recommend him if you really are interested in good, dense philosophy. He definitely knows his stuff. Deep philosopher.
Got to admit this class was really boring but stick to it... AND I MEAN STICK TO IT... and you will get your A ... GUARANTEED
He is exceedingly interesting. Listen to every word he says. It sometimes sounds crazy, and often doesn't relate to the course, but you'll learn SOMETHING.
He is an easy teacher .. and gave u lots of chances to do well. There are 5 little EASY tests (50%),no midterm or final and 1 term paper (30%) and 1 presentation and participation (20%).His lectures are NOT boring.. its interesting.
He's very easy because he teaches the content so well. He gets me interested in what he talks about and gets me thinking about even deeper questions. Because of this I actually can write well because of the interests.
SO BORING. Saw many people falling asleep. But easy marker on essay exams. Gives marks for attendance. I would not suggest this class unless you are a die hard philosophy fan or are able to concentrate during boring lectures and do the boring reading... if you do you'll do alright.
hes an idiot. plain and simple. never take a class with him. hes boring and dull as can be. I took an 8am class with him and I learned my lesson never again will i do that. I will never ever take another class with him. He shoudld not even be teaching I duno why he is.....
Looks like George Bush, talks in monotone, Doesnt eat meat, But damn his class was easy. Dont study it will mess u up. just listen and research on your own. as long as you can write a clear essay you will get an A.
Real easy grader. however, class is very very very boring. and you have to come to every class b/c he takes attendance.
Very boring but easy. Like another person here said, as long as you can write a clear essay you will have no prob.
This teacher is not boring if you are intrested in philosophy. You actually have to do the readings or you probably will find it boring and won't know what he is talking about.
It perpetually blows my mind how the most interesting subject matter could attract such a dull man. He brings nothing to the course material whatsoever. For Philosophy&Religion, I'm far more captivated by our text book than I am by any lecture he gives. They're so dry. But if you love Philosophy, you'll have to stick it out.
INCREDIBLY easy marker. Lectures are boring, and he comes up with the most ridiculous hypothetical scenarios...but he's a very nice guy, very accomodating. I'd take him again for his marking alone...
I don't care what all you weirdos say! He's so nice! I do agree his analogies and hypothetical scenarios where TOTALLY outrageous, but that's half the fun! You think to yourself, "what are you saying, you crazy crazy man?!?" Anyway I also found him kinda s-e-x-y in a really seriously geeky way! Go ROBERT!!!
he is the best teacher i have ever had so far. His classes are very fun and he really explains the material well and has alot of knowledge. The tests are kind of hard so i would suggest u read the book. But thats for any class :) Over all he is a fair instructor and i would take another class with him. If u can do take a class.. no regrets :)
take this course and dont plagarize. trust me, andything an dalmost verything u write in the essay Q will give u reasonably good mark. any creativity will result in a good mark.jest flip through the text for the quizzes and u'll do well. u can retake anything almost anytime, and make up excuses for attendance and he'll cross them out.
He is a great professor, tried to motivate students rather than cramming test after test down your throat, and treats students as mature young adults, rather than a burden (as i have seen other profs do)
i find it mind blowing how someone can make a career of this incoherent babble!!! it takes all that i have not to fall asleep in this class. Ver nice person but if you like phil, stay away!!
CRAZY easy. yeah he's boring but really nice, he'll accomadate anything. in a nutshell: boring but danged easy.
good teacher, a little boring but he helps everyone out the best he can. stay awake and get an A
Quite a boring class, however Fahrnkopf makes it so if you just try, you are guaranteed at least a B-. He also is very accommodating to students requests regarding essays and such, and does his best to make it easy for students. A very knowledagble man.
Robert is one of the nicest instructors at the college. He will accommodate you if ure struggling with trying 2 meet deadlines. He's also a very bright person. Robert did the best he could considering the subject. You have to have some type of interest in phil/rel or obviously ull find it boring. Thats with any class. Overall, I have no complaints.
He is very very nice and helpful. One of the nicest profs I've had. I'm so glad to have taken a course with him. He repeats stuffs at least twice and that helped me. The essay exams are way easier than the quizzes. Could be boring at times so drink cofee during or before class. You may need it. I learned a lot in this course.
He is the nicest guy I have ever met, though his class is a little boring. I have learned a lot from his course. If you want to transfer to SFU and take philosophy as a substitude for English, I strong recommend you to take his course.
I had him for critical thinking. His tests are pretty easy if you get the major concepts. His voice is very monotone and he repeats things about 10 times so the class is kinda boring. He tries though, like he's nice and all, just boring.
1) easiest marking professor EVER, seriously. 2) I've taken two courses with him...neither had essays...both had two essay exams (he gives the question for it a week ahead...30 percent each) and two short reading exams (10 percent each). 3) you DO lose marks for missing class. 4) he is nice...and funny if you pay attention to his odd examples!
awesome teacher, very interesting! attendence is mandatory, will be docked marks for missing class.. if you attend class you should be able to fairly well on everything! don't even need to read the txtbk.. no essays which was nice!
EXTREMELY BORING CLASS, BUT YOU WILL GET GOOD GRADE AT THE END. HE IS VERY EASY MARKER AND VERY KIND ABOUT MARKS.TAKE HIM IF U WANT TO BOOST UR GPA.
This guy was useless - he doesn't write any notes, his lectures are not organized or even planned, he sits at a desk the whole class and he's monotone! His tests are stupidly easy and the text book is not needed at all, but you don't learn jack.
This guy knows what he's talking about, but he's really really easy. He seemed to repeat things countless times. But the tests were all easy and as long as you come to class then you're guaranteed a good grade.
Ok, im 3rd year, taken phil b4. but this guy without doubt is the most boring teacher ive ever taken. Learned more from the textbook (which he hates) and more from the back of the guys head behind me. Honestly if you can get another teacher DO IT! granted he;s easy, but as i type 1/2 the class is sleeping. Poor Teacher, ok class
Hes a great prof overall. People say hes easy, but its not because the tests themselves are easy, but because he makes sure that all students understand the material. Write the test without attending lecture, gurantee you'll fail. Enjoyed him, hes fair, and I learned a lot. Highly recommended.
Bob's a wee bit on the redundant side, and he doesn't really allow room for class disscussion. You'll do fine in the class as long as you do the reading and dissect what's important from his ramblings; however, if you can get into Robert Nichols class by any means, do it.
He lecture wrong subject to the classes. Nobody knows what he is talking about. He doesn't listen to the students Don't take 1102
Rob is very repetitive. He likes to repeat himself so many times that you cannot help but understand what he is saying. He holds little respect for the textbooks and invites you to think for yourself. Overall a good class [but hard to take in the mornings] very dull! But extremely easy.
Easy marker, boring/noninteractive lectures, doesn't listen to students, sort of in his own world when lecturing. But the course is an easy B.
Bob is a very logical, non-judgemental person who lives what he preaches. You will learn a lot from him if you can get into his lectures.
He is sooo boring! and i totally dont know what I am doing in that class, He gives you inclass essays, but gives you the topic a week in advance, just go and work on it at home, and you will do fine. He is the easiest marker EVER!!!
I hate this guy. He is a monotoned speaker who is very dull. He always argues with the book and he talks in circles. The class isn't that hard, but paying attention sure is. There us very little importance to the class unless you plan to take more philosophy courses.
This guy will bore you to death on a regular basis, but will make sure you know all the material before giving out quiz's, he marks easy as well. Very unclear on instructions for the final paper, but again EASY marker. Also docks 2% for each class missed, so miss 5 and your down 10%... but its easy to duck out at break.
This class is generally easy! the tests are simple to complete, but can be tricky! mc/tf, very fair marker. I bombed some mc/tf, and my grade suffered, but overall not a challenging course, light reading.
Coffee and Red Bull are mandatory for this class! Also, some paper to doodle on while trying to take notes! Overall, he's a nice guy who knows his stuff, even if he can't always relay it very well. Be patient and try to grasp the key concepts and mention them in your essays and you'll get a good grade. 2 in-class essays, 3 reading quizzes
boring but easy marker
Hard to concentrate. if you come to class and can concentrate easy A
in class just dying right now...so boring
class is very boring. but hes a nice man. doesn't mind poor attendance or frequent lates. infact, he doesn't even mind if you fall asleep right infront of him. he gave out the essay topic prior to the exam, very fair and fast marker. definately wouldn't mind taking a phil course with him again : )
One of the most rational person I've ever met. Also very kind to students and if you have heart to learn He will enlighten you. I have studied under many profs and this person has helped me to be better thinker and better human being. Thank you Dr.Fahrnkopf & Hope you're around for a long long time.
somewhat boring but not as bad as some of these would suggest. he's smart and an easy marker. he also sounds a little bit like leonard nimoy
Professor Farnkopf is pretty dull. Very easy class though, boosts GPA. Few quizzes, 1 paper, 1 debate. Basically directly lectures from the text book, could probably get away with not attending class. He's nice enough though, understanding if you miss something, just not the most clear explanations
Hes super nice and understanding. Tests very easy if you pay attention in class. Very thorough with everything on the test. Hard to get a bad mark. Definite GPA booster. Course evaluated by Quizzes for each chapter, 1 short essay, 1 debate (that you dont really have to prepare for, its more for fun) and your attendance. Very nice person :)
GPA BOOSTERRR, VERY BORING PROF, BUT EASYYYY MARKER, omg its ridiculous, i never knew what was going on and i just gave my opinion and id get marks LOL, i took him twice after!
It is a boring class, I mean it is Phil! but he is very understanding. There is a 2% deduction for each absence. But u can talk to him, and he'll understand! 2 in-class essays, each 30% and u have the topic 7 days in advance!2 quizes, each 10%, read the bk once, and u ll get 6%. plus, he answers questions -regarding the txtbk material- via e-mail!
very knowledgeable. repeats himself slightly, but if you can follow what he says it's very interesting.
Good prof. you can tell he is very knowledgeable..but he doesn't help to stay awake in the morning class. He picked interesting textbooks tho. I had fun reading those books. All you have to do is just read books, and you will be fine.
Great professor. Highly knowledgeable. Easy marker. Not much is required of this course other than reading of the textbook, 5 quizzes, a 30 point essay and a debate. Id recommend him :)
Mr. Fahrnkopf is a nice guy, he's just a really boring teacher. I'm not really into philosophy, so maybe that's why, but I still found it hard to stay awake in class. Five quizzes, one essay, and a mock final debate gets you a pretty easy grade. He goes over the information you need to know for the quizzes right before you write them too.
He such a nice guy that will take you even his class is totally full. Have any questions, you can ask him despite of his sleepy voice. Anyways, if you want to get a B+ without studying,go for him. No Final exam.. ;)
Prob a nice guy but such a boring teacher! Drones on and on. Not dynamic at all. his classes will be east GPA boosters if you can stand total doredom. If you learn best with an engaging teacher and class discussion I'd avoid this prof at all costs. He's like a less fun Spock...and not even a good looking Zachary Quinto version.
Robert Fahrnkopf is a really nice guy, totally approachable if you ever ask questions. You probably won't ever need to though, literally to get through this class you only need a basic understanding of the text which is the size of a paperback book. His marking is very generous and no final, only two in class essays and two quizzes.
Really nice guy and encourages in class discussions. Easy marker. Lot of reading, 2 easy essay exams, and 2 small quizzes. Highly recommend for gpa booster.
A great teacher! Very nice, and very easy. If you try you will do great. If you don't try, you will still do great...
- In my semester, he gave 1% worth of extra final mark for each of 5 tests (5% extra total) - Easy marks as long as you understand the book and do well on tests - Slept thru most classes still got A+
Enjoyed the class and the exams.
I am a total philosophy nerd, and I still found his lectures boring. He is very knowledgeable, but a poor communicator. On the plus side, he is a ridiculously easy marker.
Bit monotonous, but knows his stuff and is a nice guy. He mostly reads from books, or talks at length. Wasn't a ton of discussion, but we did watch a documentary at the end of the semester. Very, very easy marker. I got 100% on every paper that semester. He can drone on a bit, but I stayed after class to chat a couple times and he was very helpful.
It is really a challenge trying to listen to him all class. I found myself reaching for my phone. I think you can just read the textbook without being in his class but he takes attendance so no choice. Everyone said he was such an easy marker but not really. He took a lot of points off from my final paper and I couldn't read his feedback.
Robert is an excellent prof! Although many people would call him boring I never found that to be the case. Lectures are long but he seems to recognize this but it truly is fascinating material. Essays, quizzes and participation/attendance can really set you up for an A, no right or wrongs on the exam, simply justification!
Great, knowledgable professor. Hard to talk against him, he interrupts you and will talk over you. In any event, listen and you'll do well. The tests are easy and based right out of the book. No final or midterm. Just one big paper. Don't take unless you're interested in philosophy.
He's super nice, knowledgeable and smart. An easy marker.. He's a gpa booster. Attendance is mandatory because you lose 1% every time you don't show up. Attendance is 10% of your grade. There's no midterm or final. Just one essay, 5 quizzes which he gives bonus marks, and a debate. Easy peasy
He's a really nice guy and gives you a bonus 1% on every quiz. Attendance is mandatory! No midterm or final just 5 quizzes and participation mark comes from an ungraded debate! The only not so great thing is that he goes off topic a lot and many times you will not know what is going on. Just bring a large coffee and try to stay awake!
Reallllly long and dull lectures, but you need to attend them to succeed (notes will help with tests and quizzes), also READ THE BOOK. Robert is a very easy marker and will give everyone a bonus mark if the class average was low on a test or quiz. Bring an energy drink or you will fall asleep.
Very dry lectures, and he goes (extensively) through the text with his own examples. The tests are MC only, and easy if you understand the concepts. Gives bonus 10% on tests automatically. Doesn't care if you're paying attention, but you're marked on attendance.
He is awesome person. Never let u feel like that he is a teacher..
His classes are super boring, but he doesn't care if you are even paying attention. He deducts marks per class missed, but he is super lenient about this. He is an easy marker and is a really nice prof.
Lectures feel flat and are pretty much read from the book with some additional examples. He wants his students to succeed and is very generous with extra credits, but a lot of the questions in his quizzes are very complicated and test more than just an understanding of the actual quiz topics. Not hard to pass, but hard to get a good grade.
Robert spends his classes speaking about his own personal and subjective views about religion rather than discussing and teaching the actual content. Lectures are spent speaking from his seat for 3 hours and be prepared to sit and listen to him read one of his own papers where he disagrees with one of the writers of the textbook for an hour.
His lectures were honestly uninteresting. Be ready to read the book required. In the time i took his class there were only 2 quizzes and 2 long essays- that's it. Attendance matters so just be there eventhough it's boring. It is not a heavy course with him as a professor, but you have to do the learning by yourself and do take note on his lectures.
awesome
